Default Plateau Hit?

I have not lost any weight in the last two weeks. I have stayed steady at my last weight. The only thing I have geared from once in a while is not getting all of my water in and maybe eating a little more protein than I should in place of a packet to feel fuller. Well this keep me from losing? Not taking any extra carbs.

I never really believed before that water was a big deal but in IP I think it is CRITICAL. My first week I only had about 4-6 per day (went from 0 a day to that much which was really hard so I didn't beat myself up - had to start somewhere). I only lost half a pound and the only things I did wrong were low water and not enough protein in my case (had a hard time eating all that protein the first week).

The second week I persevered with the water and had a 4 pound loss. I really believe water is crucial to IP even though I totally don't understand the science behind it - it does seem to make a huge difference.

I make sure I have 10 every day plus whatever I need to make up for with any coffee I drink.

Try to up the water intake to 10 per day (that's how many check marks are in my IP booklet) - you'll probably see a huge difference.

My Coach says you can't be a sipper with the water - you have to chug, chug, chug!!

I too stalled on my losses over a month ago, and was doing everything right. But slow2lose is correct re: the water - chug, chug, chug! The more you drink, the better. A lot of us get upwards of 100 oz p/day! I'm sure you've seen the phrase "Follow the plan!" Get your 3 packets each day, and 8 oz of lean protein, 4 cups of veggies, evoo & sea salt, supplements, etc. They all work together to make this work. Having said all that, sometimes our bodies decide to take a break and not let loose of any weight for a bit. I bet you're still losing inches, even with the stall. If you follow the protocol 100% for another week but the scale still doesn't move, perhaps a few days of boot camp will help. That's what I ended up doing in early September. Got things jump started again. (Boot camp = 4 non-restricted packets p/day, no meat. Yes, you will feel hungry the first day or so, but that goes away. Drink tons of water! Staying busy so you aren't thinking about food all the time really helps.) Good luck!

I'm in the same boat. I was a slow loser the whole time (lost 25 total) started feb 14 and as of may have been the same weight. followed the plan to the t. Water and all. coach said that this is where my body needs to be but at 142 and 5'4 I'm not satisified. phased off and then did a modified 3/4 for the summer and the this week did phase 1 again to try rebooting. Was down 2 140 then this am back to 142. I don't know what else to do.....

My doctor who supports me on this diet ( she has no affiliation with it) has told me the reason why the more water we drink the more we seem to lose is because he body is breaking down fat to make ketones for energy when in ketosis. The more water we drink the more ketones we flush out, the less available for the body to use as fuel so the body must burn more fat. So water is super important. Hope that helps

My coach told me that we really need to drink a minimum of 3L a day, which is about 12 8oz glasses. I started off with that, but I have an app on my phone called "water your body", you put in your weight and it tells you how much water you should be drinking, so as my weight has gone down, so has the amount of water I'm drinking. Currently I am drinking about 11 glasses of water a day, but I have noticed that my weight loss has slowed and I'm wondering if it is due to the lower amount of water. Wuv posted somewhere that you should be drinking 1/2 of your weight in ounces, which is pretty much what my app tells me, so I think that is a good guideline. Hope that helps!

I had hit a 3 week stall after I was on the plan for several months. Then I noticed I lost after I had eaten out. I realized I was eating either chicken breast or fish for my non IP protein and was using WF salad dressing packets for convenience.
I had gone down to no fat. The body needs some fat to lose fat.
I started to put my full allotment of olive oil on my salads, I did not use it to cook;used Pam for that. If you have your oil in the salad it sticks to the leaves and you get it all.I also made sure I had beef several times a week. The stall was broken.

IP is very low in fat, make sure you are getting all that is coming to you or the body holds on to what you have stored.

Monica - Thanks for that! Good information, and extra inspiration to keep guzzling. Our weather has turned colder, and for some reason it's harder for me to drink water when the weather's cold, so I needed a little kick!

Well, I was/have always been a water guzzler - but I also hit an ~11-day stall in my losses once. Sometimes the body just takes a breather, and week 4 is a popular time for people to see occasional stalls.

Yes. I lost a lot in my first two weeks and the next few were slow. I think my body was catching up. Don't worry, it'll start back up again.

I desided that I needed to make a doc with all the great advice that I find here. This one will be the first. Thanks!

I lost 17 lbs the first 3 weeks, then nothing for the last 10 days! I have not cheated, except for being a little short on the water. I know if I stick it out, it will start moving again, but I could use some cheerleading!
