Default Today is my first day on IP...did I already mess up?

I started IP today, but I think I already messed up. Let me know what you think...

This morning I had 1 cup of black coffee (no milk, no sugar) from Starbucks. I had 1 IP already made chocolate drink. I had this approximately 6:30am.

Around 10:30am, I started to feel really weak. My IP coach told me that it's okay to have an extra IP snack on the first day of this diet since my body is going into shock. So I had have a packet of chocolate soy puffs. I felt full after half the packet, so I only ate half of it (I was starting to get worried that I F'ed up the diet by having this snack). I had lunch at 12 noon and it consisted of tomato basil soup (yummy!), 2 cups of steamed broccoli, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

I feel full and think I will be okay until dinner time. Now here is my question....my IP coach said it was okay to have an extra snack today since it was my first day on the diet and my body is adjusting. However, according to the IP website, you have to eat EXACTLY the right amount of food as instructed. So....should I have my pudding after dinner today or just finish off the remaining half packet of soy puffs? Or do I actually follow my coach's advice about being "ok" to have an extra snack on the first day of the IP program?

I'm currently at 180lbs and want to get down to 135lbs. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Follow your coach's advice. It's pretty common for people to have 4 packets as needed in their first week. In my opinion, anything that helps make it easier on you for the first week is a good idea to do!

And when it comes down to it, you're only talking about an extra 90-150 calories. Hardly a huge deal, especially when you're just starting out!

Ditto. I was told that I could have an extra packet the first week because I was used to having a snack in the afternoon. My coach didn't want me to get hungry. If you think about it that's what gets us to cheat. It's better to have an extra packet then it would be to grab a candy bar. Your doing great! Keep up the good work!

If you decide to have the 4th packet make it an unrestricted one. The reason why you were feeling bad was your BP was probably low along with your electolytes. You can eat the rest of the puffs and still have your pudding tonight.

As long as you are getting in 2 unrestricted, 1 restricted, 4 cups of veggies and 8oz of meat you are good to go. The first week should be your only week to have the 4th packet to get your body used of the calories. Good luck
