Hi,
Back in the summer, my dr. found out that my blood sugar was SCARY high, like almost-in-a-diabetic-coma high! I immediately cut down on carbs and started on medication. My numbers came down, but not enough and we did a lot of tinkering with medications, dosages, etc. Presently I'm on two different medications. I am due to have a blood test in a couple of weeks, to check how my sugar has been for the past couple of months. Since starting IP (10 days ago), I have noticed that I was feeling light headed after taking the morning dose of Metformin. So I asked my doctor this week, and she gave me a test at home meter and some supplies. I tested for the first time today, my post-lunch number was 86, which is wonderful! Woo hooo!!! I am SO psyched about this diet, and maybe about getting off the medication altogether. Diabetes runs in my family, and that was one major reason for my decision to start IP. I've seen what it can do.
Seeing the scale going down is great, fittiing into clothes that I haven't worn in a while is motivating and I'm looking forward to it. But the health benefits outweigh (pun definitely intended, lol) everything, and that's what I'm keeping in mind when this gets difficult.
Happy weekend, everyone!
