Default IP pudding vs. IP drink mix vs. IP RTD....What's your pleasure???

So I am branching out and wanting to try a few new things. I haven't really had any of the puddings, RTDs or drink mixes and was wondering what the difference is when using them for making drinks/smoothies. Which has better flavor? Why choose one over the other? And And which is better in the various recipes that y'all make?

Thanks in advance for all the comments and replies! This forum sure makes IP so much easier to stick to. And I love that everyone shares experiences and ideas...

I 3FC IP!

I love the chocolate drink, both the mix and the RTD. I wasn't crazy about the vanilla mix, so I usually mix it with coffee. I've made some of my puddings into shakes every now and then because I find it easier to drink them, than eat them.

This is going to be an individual preference thing.

My preference is puddings because I think they make creamier shakes (mixed with more liquid than for pudding). I usually add Spinach to a Dark Chocolate pudding that I made with cold decaf or halfcaf for a great breakfast smoothie.

I also use vanilla pudding mixed a thinner for my coffee "creamer".

Also, I believe puddings have fewer carbs than the RTD or similar-flavor drink mixes.

The RTD's are easy to grab and go, no fuss or mess. SO if you are on the go a lot this is what I would recommend. The chocolate drink is a staple for me. The vanilla is very versatile because you can add different flavorings to it to make it a different flavor each time. If I get the puddings I make them into shakes, adding 10oz of water and ice so you get a lot more to drink

Well, I prefer the puddings as frappes. I add extra water, shake it up, and add to the blender with 6-10 ice cubes. My favorite is the vanilla pudding with instant decaf coffee crystals, and some WF chocolate syrup.

I also LOVE the mango RTD! As a drink, it is very thick. I usually have a few sips, add water, shake, and drink more. If I'm home, I always put it in a blender with ice cubes and some more water.

For drink mixes, I like the chocolate drink mix when I need an extra packet, but don't want something to filling. Sometimes at night I need sweet after my dinner and that is perfect.

The big difference for me was being able to put the RTD's in the blender with spinach, ice and flavorings. If you try that with the puddings or mixes, you get a kind of frothy, spoony mixture. But the wildberry yogurt for a shaker drink is awesome!

The RTD chocolate is my favorite for making spinach shakes. The mixes get too frothy when making shakes with spinach....like eating air. The RTD is much more like a real shake.

love that chocolate drink (powder, not RTD) warmed like hot chocolate. sometimes I put SF torani peanut butter syrup in it to change it a little.

Drinks are my preference. My staples are:

- Chocolate drink mix
- Chocolate RTD
- Mango RTD
- Strawberry Banana RTD
- Cappuccino drink mix

When I was on P1 before, I used a lot of the puddings to make pudding cakes, but this time around it is not appealing to me, so I am sticking to the drinks.

I also can't stand any of the "hot" foods. The omlette grosses me out and I am not really a soup person, and there is something that strikes me as too fake about those foods. To me, with the shakes, it is just a protein shake, and I have been drinking those long before IP. But powdered soup, eggs, potatoes... It just grosses me out.

I have only tried the RTD (Chocolate and Vanilla) and the pudding (Chocolate). My favorite is the RTD Chocolate. It is a bit too sweet, but I have gotten used to that. The Vanilla mixed with coffee makes a delicious iced bevvy (again, pretty darn sweet, though).

The Chocolate pudding is flat out nasty. It has a strong chemical flavor and is a weird texture. Mixed with lots of water it makes an okkkkkkaaay drink. But I do not plan to buy again.

As a sidenote, I have never been into super processed fake sugar flavors. For example, I think sugar free jello pudding is pretty gross. Also, I think every WF product I have tried is awful and tastes like chemicals. So, I might not be a good barometer of what is good...but these are my two cents!

Have fun experimenting!

I agree 110% with both of these statements!

The banana pudding is just about the worst thing going.

I like the RTD chocolate. I use that with spinach. I really don't mind if I do that 3x a day and not have to worry about the other stuff.
