Way to go everyone!

My 8k was yesterday and I am so very proud to announce that not only did I run the ENTIRE thing, but I also ran my best time yet (1:10:40)!! I was brought to tears thinking that less than 4 months ago I could barely run for 30 seconds.

This was my first race and I really loved the atmosphere and the excitement. There were over 11,000 participants all together for the marathon, half & 8k (over 3000 for the 8k). I am so inspired I am going to register for 10k races in both April and June. I am officially hooked!

Congratulations shanhat!

Great job rosa, hahnj and rw quilts!

Rosa - yay you on your race!! Way to go, girl!

My first 5K is coming up on the 20th. I'm not really excited or nervous yet, but we'll see what happens as it gets closer.

Holy bleep for me!!! I needed a push, and I guess I was being too Debbie Downer about my progress.

Rosa -- way to go! What did you do to start running??

I'm sort of a Bad News Bear in this challenge -- we're having a kitchen renos done in our apt, and we had to clear all our stuff out last night. I ran into a chair and broke a toe!! (Maybe two, not sure)

I'm hoping Advil and athletic tape will get me back in the saddle tomorrow.

Ouch! I hope your toes get better soon.

I started running really slowly. I did my own progression run/walk program, but it was probably very similar to the couch to 5k (c25k) program. Once I was able to run 5k I started adding .5k until I could run the 8k. I personally prefer running outside (and think it better prepared me for the actual race), but whatever works for you.

Helloooo everyone! Life has finally slowed down a bit so here I am!

Today is a good day. Had a nice little whoosh that put me over 70 pounds lost which means less than 100 left! Woohoo! I'm on fall break from school this week but I have so much work to do that it doesn't even feel like it. At least it's work that I enjoy! I was visiting the parents for the Thanksgiving weekend, and I will see them next week for a pre-birthday dinner, but then they are headed to Mexico for their 8th winter there. Lucky bums. I guess come Christmas I will be the lucky bum that goes to visit them.

Hope you're all having a great week!

Holy crap I hate these holiday weeks. One day off and it really throws me for a loop.
Didn't help I had a late night soccer meeting last night- tonight is parent council meeting. Sigh- Calgon take me away. Okay now I'm just showing my age and my possible senility since I don't even really like soaking in a bathtub-LOL. (hot tub yes, bath tub no) TMI?
Hope everyone is having a great week. Busy here. But when it stays like this then I'm not in the kitchen for long extended periods of time which means less food in my mouth- Win Win!
Highly recommend the couch to 5 k program if you are interested in starting running. Or visit a local running store. They usually have beginning to run group runs that are free. It can be totally intimidating, but you have to start somewhere, right?
The run/walk- Known as the Galloway method is very popular. Check out his website: www DOT jeffgalloway DOT com

Shanhat- take care of those toes- ouch!

Okay- gotta get back to work- Have a great day all.
Make those choices that will help you achieve your goals

hi everyone -- i've been bozo busy this week and just dropping into bed every morning then getting up at last minute to hurry to work again.....long hard week....so Red Team....wow, we're doing pretty well.

I have a loss this week but I didn't eat like I should,,,,but I didn't eat very much. a couple of the days I did a Jarrod Subway thingee....which is get a foot long on way to work which becomes my breakfast, lunch, and dinner....

It sounds like everyone is doing well though -- yayyyyyy us. I'm going to wait until Friday to post my weight to make sure my loss wasn't a scale hiccup or something....

Everyone hang in there...I'm off tonight and have some serious yawns going on, so I'm going to take a melatonin and hit the hay....

Night all -- Keep on keeping on -- and drink your water!

Hi everyone it hasn't been a good week for me. I have been sick most of the week. I ended up having to miss two days of work, ( I work 4 on 2 off), and am just now starting to feel better. I am back at work tomorrow evening and I just feel exhausted!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Sounds like a lot of us are having a rough week. This week is feeling like a possible "freebie" week for me. I haven't weighed in yet (I don't own a scale, so I weigh on Saturdays at my mom's), but I am feeling super bloated from TOM. Couple that with two Thanksgiving dinners and it's a recipe for disaster. I have kept up with my workouts, so there is a slight chance I will be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding my breath.

Happy weekend, all!!

ETA: no freebie for me this week...I lost 1 lb!! Guess I feelmore bloated than I am...woo hoo!

Phew! I managed to drop all of last week's blip up. I was actually down to 182.9 on Friday, but it seemed too good to be true. Sure enough, back up to 183.5 yesterday and today. I'll take it. I'm really hoping this doesn't happen again in 2 more weeks - I'm getting tired of my personal roller coaster.

Here's to another great weigh in!
