Default Question about Tofu

Hello, My IP handout did not mention anything about using Tofu as a protein. Would this still be 8 ounces/day? I used Extra Firm sprouted tofu. Thank you for your help

If you look on your sheet under "other" for Dinner protein Tofu is listed there

Thank you Wuv. I don't know how I missed that in the approximately 100 times I have now read that sheet.

LOL...you are welcome, you weren't considering it as "other" easy to be overlooked!

Is there a problem with tofu and 8 ounces not equaling 30-40g protein?

Not to my knowledge, as long as its 8oz it shouldn't matter. I don't worry about counting anything I just measure 8oz and 2 cups of veggies for lunch and dinner that is it

I juts found this.....Plain tofu has about 7-8 grs of protein per ounce of raw product so the dieter would want about 3-4oz to create a meal (around). be careful with some of the flavored tofu because they might have too many carbs (total carbs should be less than 5 gr per serving) also there are many soy "met products" our there like "tofurkey" etc. and the dieter should read the labels. Most of the "garden burgers" are UNACCEPTABLE as they have little protein (5-6 gr) and way too many carbs.

Which plain protein has that? All the ones I've checked don't have that.

And yep, I look at labels constantly, and most the veggie meats have too many carbs and a lot of them have sugar in them, so I avoid them.

Thanks, Wuv!

As an FYI, the extra firm sprouted tofu I use:

3 oz serving
1 gr carbs
90 calories
5 grams fat
9 grams protein

So, 8 oz would be about

8oz
5.2 gr carbs
234 calories
13 grams fat
23 grams of protein

Thanks, anyway, Wuv. I'll look to see if I can find it. Mostly if I use Tofu, I add in some extra egg whites during the day in my shakes to make up for the lesser amount of protein.
