I did 42min of cardio from Cathe's Low Impact Challenge. I've had this step workout for over a year but haven't tried it until today. It will never be a favorite but its do-able. Step choreo confuses me, actually any choreo confuses me, I'm not very good at following along.

10-06-2012, 08:16 AM
Happy Saturday friends :)

Got up early today trying to get my workout in before my 13yo ds got up, really bothers me when he starts his smart remarks. I was just about to do the stretches at the end and here he comes. Luckily he was behind me and my brain was already mentally rolling my eyes because he popped off with something, and I'm thankful that I don't know what it was! I only did the 1 mile today, my plan is 1 mile tomorrow as well then Monday start trying to get through the 2 mile each weekday, with a possible 1 mile "rest" day on Wednesday.

10-07-2012, 11:29 AM
Hi everyone :)

Belinda, hope you are feeling better soon.

Today I didn't get up and workout (read my Rube Goldburg thread), but did get my butt on the treadmill for an hour.. a whole hour!!! My legs were like jello when I got off..lol.

10-08-2012, 11:35 AM
yesterday, Hubby and I were invited to a BBQ down by the river and took April. She made friends with two little girls who were the daughters of our host. Its gotten cool, the high today is 65*, last week it was 90*! I got Hubby to get my winter clothes down from the attic, so I will start to switch those out. I haven't knit much the past month but started a green cardigan this weekend.

10-09-2012, 09:37 AM
Good morning everyone.

I really struggled through my workout.. first my 3yo got up needing help getting his undies and pants back on.. luckily I was in the warm up phase of the workout and could keep moving while helping him..lol Then I get a text.. well super early in the AM is usually not a good sign so I checked and it was hubby needing a password for some machine or computer at work.. he left it in the bathroom... so I kept moving while texting him the info back. Then there were kids underfoot.. but I kept telling them if they got kicked it wasn't my fault. I managed to finish it without kicking anyone.

I had planned on the 1mile WATP today, but when it started, compliments of autoresume, it was still on the 2mi from yesterday so I just went with the flow and did it. I'm sore in my shoulders but I feel accomplished.

Hubby had to go out of town again this week. I spent the morning doing laundry, baking cookies for tomorrow {Oatmeal Pumpkin spice}, and knitting. Its warming up for the weekend but then it will rain. Back later with my workout.

Fawn, welcome!

10-09-2012, 05:38 PM
better late than never karen, welcome! fawn~ dont get the same thought i HAD... the kids will b less needy as they get older, its an illusion lol! the hubby is the neediest most spoiled of all! seems the more im determined to start doing for ME the more they "need" of me!

10-10-2012, 10:00 AM
Good morning all :)

Did the 1mi WATP video this morning.. and it felt like I didn't do enough! I guess that is a good sign that I'm getting back to where I belong.

I putzed with my free weights last night... my arms are killing me today.. again a good sign right?

I bought a few of the Biggest Loser books on a dirt cheap ebay auction the other day. One is their Fitness Plan one. Going to start doing that 3 days a week on top of my WATP. Probably won't start that till Monday.

Oh and Joy... yeah they definately get needier. My 13yo is the biggest pain in my rump..lol Hubby is pretty needy too, but at least his mom raised him pretty well... I just have to remind him of things 500 times..lol

10-10-2012, 02:48 PM
lol ive got a 13yo girl n she is "my mothers curse" ~i hope when u grow up u have a child just like u~ she tries my patience, plucks my last nerve n tests my faith every day! (2 grown "kinda" boys also) But they r my lil darlins n luvs of my life so i choose to let them see the lite of each new day lmao! ahhh motherhood!

10-11-2012, 09:36 AM
Knowing I need to flush out the crap I ate last night (hot wings, waffle fries, carrot cake... UGGGGGHHHHH), I did the 2mi WATP this morning and hope to hit the treadmill this afternoon, then grocery shopping tonight.. for a family of 6 for 2 weeks I end up pushing a mighty heavy cart by the time I'm done... slight bonus there.

I'm so glad my 13yo is a boy..lol with his attitude, if he was a girl I would definitely have to kill him..lol I only have 1 girl, who goes through enough clothes a day for 10 girls, and she is only 7. Her teen years frighten me! lol

10-11-2012, 11:46 AM
oh just wait its coming lol the clothes are just the beginning! nothing of mine is safe or "mine" anymore! my make-up, hair products, smell goods, lotions, jewelery, shoes, clothes she can modify has become "ours" it seems! mind you she has her own stuff in abundance but still "needs" mine n it drives me nuts! if she had been our 1st she would prolly have been an only child (been a handful since the very night i got pregnant w/her!)!

10-11-2012, 12:05 PM
I have 2 girls (5/8). One tomboy and one girly girl. I am dreading the teenage years with 2, 3 years apart. I hear you about pushing a cart full of groceries. We only have 4 in our family.

I remember borrowing my moms cloths. She lost a lot of weight when I was in high school and we were wearing the same size. It was very strange but cool.

Good morning folks.

Never did make it to the treadmill yesterday like I wanted, but that is ok. It was just extra I wanted to do.

Pretty proud of myself, my spark people has started yelling at me that I needed to update my fitness levels.. which ups what it wants me to eat calorie wise. Not sure I will listen to it, but it's a good feeling to see that the amount of exercise I'm doing is increasing.

10-12-2012, 12:57 PM
Don't hang your head too low findingfawn. We all have our "off" days! I can relate when you said it feels good to see your exercising is increasing. I never thought I would actually enjoy and look forward to working out. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

10-13-2012, 11:16 AM
Of course mouthy teenager was up before I got up this morning, so I went downstairs and punished myself on the treadmill instead of doing my WATP.

I bumped up to 3mph today (last weekend I did 2.5mph) and even threw in a few 30-60 second "sprints" at 4mph. Ok 4mph is hardly a sprint to most, everyone has to start somewhere right?

10-15-2012, 09:26 AM
lol btw fawn, 4mph would b a sprint for me too!

10-15-2012, 09:36 AM
4mph is a sprint for almost anyone I know... :(m that's sad.

10-15-2012, 10:39 AM
Good Monday Morning all :)

This ended up being one of the busiest weekends I can remember in a long time!!!

Saturday we went to 2 different fall festivals. One was pretty small, it was at the local airport, the highlight there was getting to spend some time exploring the bi-plane that we watch from our deck as he practices his stunts for airshows.

The other was in the town I lived in when I was in elementary school. It was pretty big and took a while to roam around. They had a demonstration of a water rescue in the river, a Native American Pow Wow.. which had a special "Candy Dance" for the kids. They also had lots of food... I behaved.

Then yesterday we started with our normal run to the flea markets, there are 3 good sized ones we go to. Then I went to Walmart and bought my groceries. Then it was home to make sure the kids were ready for the park because my 6yo DS had a Cub Scout outting to earn his Leave No Trace patch. We spent just over an hour walking around cleaning up trash at one of the local parks.

I'm beat and need this Monday to recover from all the excitement...lol But, I was a good girl and did my 2mi WATP video today even though my brain was saying "go back to bed".

10-16-2012, 11:20 AM
How are everyone workouts going so far? :)

10-16-2012, 11:46 AM
work-outs are the the only thing im not worried about at this point! they r my constant, my stress reliever, my focus! i was walking 1 of my dogs lasnite n a neighbor says "wow u really r all about the exercise arent u?" she doesnt know the crap (no pun intended) my dogs give me if we dont do our evening walks!

10-16-2012, 11:51 AM
I did a 2mi WATP this morning... trying to get back to the point where that doesn't feel like enough.

I have this funny confession. I totally love kickbacks... they are like a time machine to me and for just a few seconds I'm back in junior and senior high at the skating rink, in our little goofy line of dorks playing "follow the leader" or whatever the heck it was we were doing (it was never discussed, we all just made lap after lap doing the same thing, so who knows what we were doing..lol).

I wanted to start the weight training circuit in the Biggest Loser Fitness book yesterday, but decided to wait one more week to start it. I'm still struggling through some parts of the 2mi WATP and want to get a bit better with that first.

10-16-2012, 12:03 PM
dangerouscurvesahead - That's great! I agree with what you said about being a stress-reliever. I'd never thought I would see the day when I look would look forward to working out, but here I am. :)

findingfawn - Aren't kickbacks great?! I love that stretch that happens in the front of the leg. I sometimes do them instead of double side steps. I know exactly what you are talking about at the roller skating rink. We did the same thing. lol

10-16-2012, 12:22 PM

Yes, I love that stretch. I really really love to squat as low into them as I can.. a little lunged forward to enhance the skating effect...lol. I hate double side steps, what is it about them that makes them so much more difficult? Depending on how much furniture I feel like moving, I often don't have space for doubles... so I just keep at the singles... I like those days :o

10-16-2012, 02:50 PM
I have all but given up this month :(

10-17-2012, 08:05 AM
((hugs)) Belinda Just because you fell off the horse yesterday doesn't mean that you can't jump back on him today. Don't wait for a new month. You have come so far! Even in you are doing half a workout it's better than none at all.

10-17-2012, 09:03 AM
Happy Hump Day Ladies~

10-17-2012, 09:25 AM
Whew.. just got done with my 2mi WATP. I thought a few times in the middle of it about stopping, my stomach isn't feeling great today. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to finish without getting sick. But I just kept coaching myself to push ahead and think of things other than my gut and it seemed to work. I made it, now I just want the sofa the rest of the day... not gonna happen but it would be nice.

Hope everyone else is moving it today.

Don't give up. Just get back on it and try again. Its never lost. It just a stumble on your journey of life. Babysteps.

I will have to keep in mind to try lunging a bit forward. Thanks! For the double side steps when going fast I feel like I'm trying to keep up with the speed instead of focusing on the move. See I can be a bit uncoordinated at times and it's not a good look. lol My favorite are tap outs because those helped to get rid of my saddlebags. lol By the way take it easy today/tomorrow and I hope you are feel better soon!

Don't give up SmallSteps! I'm sure we've all had days or weeks when we feel like that. Maybe try making a fresh start next week and try not to worry about the days you've missed. (((HUGS)))

Happy Thursday ladies :)

Got my walk in this morning. Gosh I can't wait till I get through the 2mi WATP without a single "isn't this over yet???" thought popping into my head. I feel so accompished when I'm done, but gosh getting through it is a struggle at different points in the workout.

10-19-2012, 09:44 AM
Happy FRIDAY!!!!!

I really contemplated doing the 3mi WATP video today, but after some thought I thought maybe I should stick with 2mi until I'm not huffing and puffing the whole time.

I'm not sure what exercise will look like for me tomorrow. I am going with my hubby and 6yo DS (and my 7yo DD is tagging along) to our council's Boy Scout camp for a fall festival. I hear we will be doing things like archery and games. I think I will try to get up early enough to get in my workout before we leave in case it ends up that parents are sitting around doing nothing all day.

10-21-2012, 11:10 AM
Yesterday I got up super early and did a 2mi WATPs. Then we went to our local council's Cub Scout Fall Festival where we spent 7 hours going from activity to activity. The only downfall was they served lunch which wasn't very healthy and then we hit fast food on the way home which I tried to choose healthier options but of course they were loaded with salt, so the scale is angry with me this morning. This too shall pass (in the form of water..lol)

Today I am suffering a messed up hip. We are going for a family hike anyway. We are going to explore a trail near our house we found by accident about a year ago and wanted to go back to.. well today I think is the day. I'm taking lots of little pieces of yarn so we can mark when we turn because we turned back last time due to the confusion of the trails. Should be fun... just hope my hubby doesn't have to carry my lard butt home with my hip out of whack. I seem to be ok once I get moving, so I should be fine.

What is everyone else doing on this beautiful fall Sunday?

10-22-2012, 08:12 AM
Really enjoyed the hike with the family yesterday.

I messed up my hip Saturday, and trying to do my video today brought me to tears. I took some advil and will go try it again in a few minutes.

gmornin ladies
Traded fones w my dd n its touch so excuse typos while i adjust.
Sommer my hips n legs have been aching like a toothache since friday nite (3hrs on cold metal bleachers) n havent slept good since. Id rather sleep the away! Ugh this fone is driving me nuts!

10-22-2012, 10:29 AM
lol.. I can't type on hubby's phone it' kills me. The aren't even that different. We dont have the net on our phones, so it's only an issue of texting.

I am not going to get any workout in today as far as cardio goes. I suddenly can harldy walk. I need to take time to heal so I can walk in the Halloween Parade on Thursday with my Girl Scouts. It's about 4 miles until it's all said and done, so I have to get my hip back in.

I will grab my hand weights and do some arm work today and focus on keeping my tummy pulled in tight all day.

I have a sick kiddo on the sofa today so I will be his maid it will get me moving a bit most likely.

Hi girls!

My weekend was full of celebrating family events (bdays etc.) I really wanted to workout, but I was exhausted! However I kept my food and snacking under control for example I only had one small slice of cake per day and no ice cream and only drank water over the weekend. Also I woke up early to do 5 miles of WATP and I have my exercise class later.

Have a great day everyone!

10-22-2012, 05:54 PM
well i tried to edit my exercise post w new fone n deleted half instead so ill just post daily til i get the hang of it!
30min tabata, 30min chest, 30min core, 30min dog walk. Wish my hips n legs would stop aching!

10-23-2012, 08:39 AM
I managed to play with the weights yesterday and I tried a bit of the one sitting cardio workout on sparkpeople (boring and cheesey and I couldn't get into it, but it is great for someone who is incapable of doing a standing workout).

I did the 1MI WATP this morning. I can do everything now but the kicks.. and well I can kick with my left leg, but it's hard to not try to "counter kick" with my right (which is what drops me to the ground in pain). I think I may do the 2mi in a bit and just walk through the kicks. I definately didn't feel like I did enough by doing just the 1mi.

10-23-2012, 12:00 PM
My strength-training class kicked my behind last night, but I got through it and my arms look fab! I'm doing a 3 mile WATP later today at a lower intensity.

Have a great day everyone

10-23-2012, 05:24 PM
30m rev. ellip., 30m back work, 30m core, 30m dog walk. Yesterday was 30m tabata class, 30m chest work, 30m core, 30m dog walk.

10-23-2012, 05:28 PM
Oh yeah guess what?
I got to add another cup coffee to my signature! 2lbs gone im 207 today!

Well, today is my 36th birthday. I have a sick 3 year old (tummy bug is moving through my kids.. yay). I got him settled back down and did my workout. Now I'm sitting here trying to come up with a challenge for myself to accomplish over the next year. Something fitness. I am thinking something distance... I really am thinking of trying to get in enough walking to make a virtual journey from here in PA to my birth city (Reno). It's a 2,536 mile trip one way if you stay on interstate 80. It would mean I would need to walk almost 7 miles every single day for a year.. and right now that seems like more than I can do. I'm going to have to pick somewhere closer to "walk to". I want to make this a fun virtual journey.. with "sight seeing" along the way (as in where I stop each day I will look up online and learn about). I guess I will get out the map and choose somewhere. I think I can do 1,000 miles in the next year.

10-24-2012, 12:04 PM
Hey everyone!

Great job dangerouscurvesahead!!

Happy birthday findingfawn! (Mine is in 2 weeks) :D Your virtual walk sounds awesome. I really do think 7 miles per day is attainable once your body work your way up to that point. Maybe you can try to break up your miles like do 4 miles in the morning and 3 miles after dinner? That's what I do when I walk more than 5 miles in one day. If I didn't break things up I would personally get bored. Enjoy your day!

10-24-2012, 12:39 PM
I decided I'm going on a virtual walk down the east coast. My final destination will be Charleston SC (it's one of my favorite places in the world). It's right about 1,000 miles if I follow the coast and make a few "stops" here and there (like Baltimore, DC, Williamsburg, Myrtle Beach, etc).

I wish i could get in a walk in the evenings, some evenings I could, but with all the kids in their activities we aren't home much at night.

Just mapped it on google maps. It's 997 miles :) http://goo.gl/maps/2xM53

10-24-2012, 03:09 PM
Thanx ladies! Happy birthday sommer!
Tabata day! plus 30m leg work, 30m core work, 30m dog walk. My legs feel like jello ugh!

10-24-2012, 03:46 PM
omg Fawn what a neat idea! I'm officially copying you on your virtual walk. I made my goal 200 miles for Oct (walking, jogging, elliptical, cycling, rowing, etc) and I have less than 30 to go. I live in washington state so I think I'll head for Cancun, Mexico and see where to go from there. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wooo hooo you do the west coast and I'll do the east. I'm trying to decide if I want to start blogging about my virtual journey. I am not sure if I will get any exercise in today before I go to the parade tonight. Right now I have 2 little boys on my sofa with the tummy bug... really hoping they are better tonight, not sure what we will do if they aren't all of my kids are in the parade for one thing or another and this parade is a HUGE event in our town. Like we are talking sitting there watching for 2-3 hours (4 or so if you count holding your spot to see it).

10-25-2012, 10:10 AM
Got my 2mi WATP video in, soon going to have to bump up to 3 miles in order to complete my virtual journey. I am 4 miles from home now. I'm still in an area I know well ;)

Thanks for the birthday wishes ladies!

10-25-2012, 03:08 PM
did my work out but didnt give it my all just wasnt feelin it today... 30m rev ellip, 30m shoulder work, 30m core n tonite 30m dog walk.

10-26-2012, 09:15 AM
I'm not sure how far we walked last night. I should drive it all tonight to see how long the parade route is. My guess is 2 miles or such plus walking around town before it. I would estimate that I walked probably 4 miles or such last night all together, and was on my feet from 4:30 until 9:30.

This morning I did the 2mi WATP and since the kids were still asleep I put on the 1 mile. I'm going to count the 4 I am assuming from last night plus this morning's 3 and mark my virtual road trip at 11 miles from home. I need to look but I think I am almost to Elysburg PA. There is a great amusement park in Elysburg. www.knoebels.com. If you are ever in the area it is lots of fun and way more affordable than any other park I know of. Full of free shows and such.

ETA The first white dot is where I am http://goo.gl/maps/qdzdk I have just passed the innersection where I would have turned to go to the park.

ETA I changed my directions some. I want to walk through Centraila. If you have never heard of it, it's a place to look up. There is a huge fire burning under the ground there in a vein of coal. It has been burning for years and years now. There are very few homes left there, I think maybe 3. The people are proud to call it home, and won't leave. I should be there in a few days. http://goo.gl/maps/WtEmo

im going to take the day off from the gym, ive got a dzn calls to make n tons of work to do before the fb game tonite not to mention wanna get things ready for SANDY to come thru! Hope for thebbest but prepare for the worst! Say a prayer for me ladies well all us east coasters!

10-26-2012, 09:45 AM
I'm so not ready for Sandy. We need to clean up the yard tomorrow morning I guess make sure things are away for the winter. Last year our area saw HORRIBLE flooding (we are right on the Susquehanna River). My home town is still in a horrible messy state. My friends are all in a panic. One started moving furniture from her newly remodeled home (they lost almost everything last September) last night. I live up high on a mountain.. which means we stay nice and dry, but it also means we get hit with the winds hard.

Have a great day Joy :)

10-28-2012, 09:08 PM
How's everyone doing with their workouts? I'm so happy...I just counted and I have walked 77.5 miles so far this month! Strength training is kicking my behind, but I am seeing results so I have to keep pushing!

10-29-2012, 02:03 AM
today was pretty good. burned almost 3000 calories in my 3 hr workout. I have to make the most of the next 3 days so I can complete my Oct goals proudly. I only have 2 hrs to go to meet the goal of 75 hours of cardio. but the goal of 200 miles? Sheesh, I'm coming up 30 short as of right now. I'll have to do 10 miles a day to meet it. Machines count, so I'll have to do 2 hrs of machines each day. Also I have to burn 3253 calories each day to meet the calorie goal. We'll see how it goes. I'm really excited to take end-of-the-month measurements!

10-29-2012, 07:25 AM
I didn't do much over the weekend, my back was feeling better then boom it hit me like a sledge hammer again. I did spend most of the weekend getting ready for Hurricane Sandy. We are in the direct path, our house sits on top of a mountain (like the very top :( ) and is open to all the wrath of the wind which they are saying will be 75mph. They are predicting major power outages most likely lasting 7-10 days. I'm just worried we don't get blown off the mountain. Our area was horribly devistated by flooding last September and some flooding is a possibility again now, so I'm concerned for friends.

I want to try to get my workout in yet this morning. My back still hurts and I still have some preparations to take care of (like making sure I have totes handy in case we decide we need to move our bodies into the basement.. which we have no interior stairway for since it was an afterthought on my inlaws part when they put the house in). We'll see what happens.

10-30-2012, 02:43 AM
findingfawn- praying for you and all the eastcoasters. We don't get hurricanes here. it sounds awful. I had to read your post twice because I thought it said you have bodies in your basement under the stairs. I know it's not a funny topic but that was how I read it. Sorry, just tired.

today I worked out 4 hours. burned 4184 calories. did 13 miles today. I'm ready for bed. Nite, y'all.

oh ya, a lady was mean to me today at the Y but I stood up to her and I'm proud of myself. Don't know why some people want to cut others down. But I let her know its not ok and I think she felt about an inch tall and will think twice next time she feels like making rude comments to someone just because they are overweight.

10-30-2012, 10:18 AM
Gmorning ladies hope all r safe warm n dry! So far we seem to b getting thru Sandy with minimal damage! Its still raining n winds r still high so there r still risks for days to come! I havent done anything in form of exercise cept walk the dog saturday n i know once i get back in gear ima pay dearly for my laziness!

10-30-2012, 10:55 AM
Made it through with little to no damage. Glad to here you were spared as well Joy. We really thought it would be way worse.

My lower back is still killing me. I think it's just going to be a simple walk on the treadmill kind of week.

Good girl for standing up for yourself. I don't know what the heck people are thinking half the time.

I finished my Oct goals a day early!!! Here's how I did:
82 hrs of cardio (goal was 75)
201 miles done (goal was 200)
69,548 calories burned (goal was 60,000)

I'm so excited to weigh and take my measurements tomorrow!

10-31-2012, 09:27 AM
Sommer glad to see sandy went easy on u too! As soon as i realized the rain had stopped yesterd ay i bundled up n took the dog for walk! I needed outside so badly! Today everything is back on schedule n i get to go back to the gym! Yea! Oh yeah.... Happy Halloween ladies

11-02-2012, 11:49 AM
You mean there is an end to the rain from it? Acutally this morning was the first I went out with the dogs all week that it wasn't at least spritzing ice cold water on me.

I'm going to start a new thread for November :) Let's keep moving girls!
