eggs and the newest phase 1 sheet
Doesn't 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites seem like too much?
4 whole eggs + 2 egg whites:
314 calories
18 g fat
31 g protein
8 oz chicken:
280 calories
8 g fat
48 g protein
(info from "My Fitness Pal" app)
Has anyone discussed this change with their coach? Is it really right, or is it a typo of some kind? Thanks.

Clearly you need that many eggs to get sufficient protein. Calories are about the same and fat is good for you. I wouldn't worry about it.

My sheet says " 4 egg whites and 2 egg yolks" (i.e., 2 whole eggs and 2 egg whites). The date of the sheet is March 20, 2012. Is your sheet newer than that?

I don't have the new sheet, but I always thought that (2) eggs wasn't a sufficient substitute for your 8 oz. protein. 2 whole eggs + 2 additional egg whites seems good though

I use 2 whole eggs plus 4 egg whites.
This gives you 12g protein from the whole eggs and 20g protein from the egg whites for a total of 32g of protein, which lands squarely in the 30g to 40g of protein for dinner range.
I think the egg description has changed in the last two or three updates (the one that added jicama and the one after that, whichever dates those are).
I was using the 2 whole eggs plus 4 egg whites, per my coach, before those came out officially, as that was her description of the change.
I agree that two whole eggs never really seemed like enough for dinner.
I also agree that if you end up using the 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites that the fat is not going to be a problem.

Here's the nutritional info:
1 whole jumbo egg:
8g protein
6g fat
90 cal
1 large egg white:
4g protein
0g fat
16 cal
2 whole eggs + 2 egg whites would only be 24g protein, or roughly half of what we are supposed to have at dinnertime. Even 2 whole and 4 white only gives you 32g, which is still a little short. 4 whole + 2 white brings it to 40g protein which is equivalent to roughly 8oz animal protein.

I think the new sheet has a June date. Yes, I checked it with my coach and now there is a big sign in the weigh-in office alerting everyone to the change to 4 whole eggs and 2 egg whites. Maybe they increased the eggs because they are such a pure protein and so quickly digested?

I posted this on a different thread, but will post here as well. My coach just came back (well, it was in September) from the Vegas IP conference. They told her there that the June sheet has a MISTAKE on the eggs, that it is supposed to be 2 whole eggs plus 2 egg whites, same as on the March sheet. I am not saying this is correct, this is just what she told me.

i had seen that - it's actually what made me double check the nutritional info on eggs. The numbers just don't line up as far as replacing 8oz of protein.

A lot of people are using part of their eggs at diff times of day e.g. on a salad, or hard boiled for a snack. It's a big size to sit and eat all at ONCE maybe, but I think most omelettes in restaurants are "3 egg omelettes" etc. so adding extra whites to 2 eggs doesn't seem a big deal to me. I had an egg white omelette for brekkie today, so I still had some protein for supper. I felt way fuller than just the cereal or a shake...

I just started in September, my sheet says 4 egg whites and 2 egg yolks (for a total of 4 - 2 yolk, 2 non-yolks).

I usually eat regular meat for supper, but with breakfast, its common for me to eat 1 whole egg plus 3 whites as a sub for the omelet pack. I add the 2 free egg whites to that (making it 3) so it goes farther and I'm not hungry in a couple hours.
Its nice to know about the eggs now though, I can now feel better about having egg dishes at restaurants.
Anyone have a link to the newest sheet? I still have an old one that says 2 whole eggs is all we get.
