I always wondered why if I have a weekend of eating bad, my face always looks heavier and appears that way in pictures. I'll look thin on Friday and bloated by Sunday! Then I researched it and learned about "carb face," and it's when your body is retaining all that water and sodium so your face doesn't look as slim after a short period of time. I totally notice this with myself.

Anyone else experience this?

I don't know about carb face for me, but I certainly get Carb Gut after even a day off plan. I can feel my pants are tighter the next few days until I get the water weight shed. It is very uncomfortable.

In a word, yes. Bloat stinks, I avoid it whenever possible.

Ugh!! Yes! But then again, I'm basically bloated/stomach distended about 99.9% of the time due to an undiagnosed stomach/digestive issue.

OMG yes!! My face, especially the chin area, is the first place I see it! I didn't know it was called "carb face" though!

Haha, I didn't know it was called that either. ^^ But I don't find it so surprising that people retain water in their faces too, and not only in other parts of their bodies. It does make sense.

What I also found out is that "carb face" in my case often comes with "pimple face". It's like my face tells me "hey, you idiot, you haven't been eating enough veggies lately, and been stuffing with crap again, so stop now".

I get carb face bad, as evidenced by photos taken on Sunday and on Saturday this weekend...I KNOW everyone notices but they pretend not to.

It definitely does. Looking at pictures of myself around the holidays or trips away vs. random pictures at home, totally evident. I'm eating VLC and I can already see the difference in my face, but I don't think it's because of weight loss.

Then again, I'm someone who gains and loses in the face a lot. Some people aren't.

Yes, I believe it is very real and yes, it happens to me too!
