Default break outs?

Odd question, not sure if this is because of IP or not but: since I've started the diet I've been having terrible break outs on my face. I'm someone who rarely gets pimples or anything but it seems like every day I wake up with a new one. Has anyone else had this problem, maybe it's due to other things, but just thought I'd ask!

I'm not sure, I didn't have that issue. Perhaps it is your hormone fluctuation.

its hormones... I haven't heard of acne problems but I did read a discussion about birth control not working.. and that is also hormonal based.

So combine the fact that BC will prevent some kinds of acne and IP interferring with BC... I think they might be linked.

If you ARE on BC I would see a doctor and use a back up method.

I am having the exact same issue! I rarely have any issues with my skin, but since I started this diet, my skin is awful, lots of tiny red pimples :-(. From what I understand, hormones are stored in fat and they are released as we burn off the fat, and this is what is causing the acne. I figure I will just treat the acne until the weight is gone...

Yep that's totally normal. Estrogen stores in our fat cells, so when we lose weight, it is released into our system. Extra estrogen can mean extra PMS symptoms, breakouts, wonky periods...fun stuff. But look on the bright side - it means you're definitely losing!!

Yep, totally normal, I was lucky enough to only have one bad breakout, but it calmed down after a couple days and now I'm back to normal.

I have found so far I am having the opposite effect, I used to have regular mild acne which came and went before IP and not I have not had a zit since starting (which could have nothing to do with the diet) but I have also had many co-workers comment on how my face seems to be "glowing" and look very "health" which are not ways I would have described me skin before. What ever my hormones are doing if it brings the compliments and motivation to keep going I need I like it.

Yep - me too. My coach said it was also the hormones and the detox effect. Also increased metabolism. Just went back to using proactive 2 times a week and it's under control for me.

Keep in mind that the skin is the biggest exit for toxins the body has. In our previous lives we ate LOTS of junk and overloaded our body's ablity to get rid of it. So any thing the body can't deal with it stores in fat. So as we lose fat those things are being relesed and your body is getting rid of it. No, it's not fun to have but at least you know that you are getting rid of fat and all that gunk too.

I was wondering the same thing. I have mild acne but it seems to be in full force now. I am glad I am not the only one. Good luck!

Every time my husband loses weight he is more prone to what looks like a heat rash. It is awful and always seems to be worse when he is actively losing. The doctor said it was the same thing and it was the toxins being released from his fat cells...coming out through his skin. The Dr. recommended an herbal supplement called Spirulina. It is basically a micro algae. It seems to work for him to help cut down on the break outs.

The silver lining is that your body is releasing that yuck from your fat and you are losing...FOREVER!

I've struggled with acne for years. I had a flare up in the first couple of weeks on IP. I'm now on week 7 and my skin is perfectly clear, an amazing blessing along with the weight loss. I agree, I think it's hormonal changes, reduction of insulin production, and, in my case, eliminating dairy and increasing my water intake. Hang in there, it will get better.
