Thumbs up September Exercise Challenge

Back to School is a great time to redevelop our routines and exercise habits!

Set your exercise goal in a starting post and track it through the month. We compile all of our goals into a list -- when you meet your goal, it gets turned RED in celebration!

All are welcome whether you feel like your in the kindergarten of exercisers or making your way through graduate school.

I'm thrilled that I've managed a summer's worth of gardening without injury, but I feel like I've been maybe taking it a little too easy, so I'm going to start doing my exercise DVDs again to punch up the workouts a bit.

My September goal: 1400 minutes, 15 DVD or Wii workouts

Gardnerjoy, thanks so much for starting these threads. I find the exercise thread very motivating! My goals for September:

1400 fitness minutes (any type of fitness)
Running 3 days per week
Rediscover the joy of working out (Difficult to quantify, but I'll know )
One mandatory rest day per week

Week 1
Saturday: 55 minute run; 45 minute walk to work 1400/100/1300
Sunday: 60 minutes housecleaning (probably didn't burn a lot of calories but mentally I feel much better)
1300/60/1240
Monday: 90 minute walk to work-45 minutes each way; 35 minutes running 1240/125/1115
Tuesday: 60 minute walk to work 1115/60/1055
Wednesday: 40 minute run 1055/40/1015
Thursday: 45 minute walk to work; 56 minutes Turbo Kick 1015/101/914
Friday: 16 minutes Stair Master; 10 minutes Arc Trainer; 39 elliptical 914/65/849

Saturday: 45 minute walk to work 849/45/804
Sunday: 45 minute walk to church and work 804/45/759

I'm going to shoot for 2,000 minutes in September. Life is going to be chaotic for the next couple of weeks because I'm having my bathroom renovated (I hope - you can never tell with contractors) so I'll be without a shower and my house will be a shambles. But I'm going to try to keep to my schedule.

I'm going to do:

1 hour of medium to intense cardio 5 days a week.
Abs every third day.
Lower body exercises 2 times a week.
Sprint intervals for 25 minutes once a week.

I'm going to start on Monday because I just had a bad cold and my body could use some extra days to recover

Week 1
Monday: 20 min HIIT, 40 min jumrope, lower body
Tuesday: 40 min intense cardio, boxing and jumprope 30 min, abs

I'm raising my goal of 1100 minutes from last month to 1200 minutes this month.

My goal is just to post whenever I move and see what I have done. At least 17 separate sessions.

9/2 I biked at level 6, fat burner for 10 minutes. Baby steps first. =1
9/3 I biked at level 3, Hills for 15 minutes. =2
9/3 I biked at level 3. Intervals for 15 mins. =3
9/4 I biked at level 5, Hills for 15 minutes. =4
9/5&6 Body movement exercise times 4 =8
9/7 I biked unknown level, fat burner for 20 minutes. =9
9/11 I biked at level 7, fat burner, for 15 minutes. =10
9/12 Moved furniture. Loaded and unloaded 1 trailer load. =11
9/13 I biked at level 6, Hills for 30 minutes =12
9/15 I biked at level 6, Intervals for 15 minutes. =13

10 runs - Completed
10 weights sessions - Completed
4 gym classes 1 done plus 3 personal training sessions

My goal is to do 30 day shred this month with taking one day a week break, and I plan to continue my c25k program I'm currently on week 2

I plan to check in on Monday's


I ended up workin out everyday but took a day off from shred on Wednesday but still ran c25k I'm doing alright with it all

Week 1

Monday: pt1day1 shred and c25k
Tuesday: pt1day2 shred and 20 min of beginners yoga
Wednesday: pt1c25k ran/jogged/walked for 35 minutes
Thursday: pt1day3 shred
Friday: pt1day4 shred only because I couldn't go outside it was rainy
Saturday: pt1day5 shred
Sunday: pt1day6 shred, c25k, 30 minutes of swimming in the pool


Week 2
Monday: pt1 day 7 shred, c25k on treadmill
Tuesday: none traveled
Wednesday: c25k (by this point I realized I left shred at my fiancés
House 5 hours away, and I'm waiting for him to mail it)
Thursday: none
Friday: c25k
Saturday: none got shred in the mail but had a million things to do
Sunday: pt1 day 8 of shred, c25k

Eh 3 days off last week that won't happen again


Week 3
Monday: 30 day shred pt 1 day 9, c25k
Tuesday: pt 1 day 10 shred
Wednesday: pt 2 day 1, c25k
Thursday: pt 2 day 2, sons soccer practice ran around with the kids
Friday: pt 2 day 3, c25k
Saturdayt 2 day 4
Sunday: pt 2 day 5 shred

I had a good solid exercise week!
