Kiwi, your title was so good, I just had to use it.

Hey Just Kim, I like you. Of course, I'm the sweet one. Not a mean bone in my body. I also like the fact that you spelled desert wrong. Any woman who has desserts on the brain is ok in my book.

I'm a year older and still fat.

I lived in sin w/ DH for one month before the wedding. We'd closed on our house and we didn't want to both have to pay another months rent on our separate quarters. Although it really wasn't too scandalous because we'd already been together for 5 years. I hope I don't end up in h*ll for that one month.

Yes ma'am I stayed on my very own program. Let's see- what was on the birthday menu? I had Raviolli Portobello, salad & breadsticks for lunch, washed down w/ wine & a chocolate birthday cake. Then for dinner, DH & I went down to Mike's greasy hamburger joint for a Swiss & mushroom burger, along w/ banana shakes. We're going out tonight to celebrate both my birthday & DD's too (she's 23 on friday) at Gustaf's. Tonight w/ be cheese fondue & German food. I'm a blimp.

You guys are such bad influences.

My shoulder hurts. I think Lush passed it on to me. I'm sure I have bursitis again, but since I haven't called the doctor back to set up an appt. for a physical, I will probably never know. Anyway, why pay someone else to tell me what I already know? Ibuprofen and stop hanging on the computer all day.

Bagzie, that ain't miamoo, that's kim, if I remember correctly. Did you see the little scandal going on about someone who posted as someone else (at the top of the list of threads). Can you imagine anyone doing that? :nose: Not me of course

Sugar Dumpling, you didn't email anything to MEEEEEE (whine)

I went and read it Kiwi. It's about having off-topic topic dissapear. I don't think things should dissapear. I like pears.

I subbed today for the first time with first graders. The teachers posted rules included "Clean up after your on mess."

Don't whine Kiwi. Stand proud. YOU are an American!!!

I did mail ya along with the other cows, Kiwi! Everyone else answered so I thought you were just ignoring me. :D HA HA! Only kidding! Didn't Peachy send you a mail that never got there? I also have this feeling we're missing some mail too. Various people have said they mailed us and we haven't gotten anything and I've sent out some mail with no response. Stupid ISP. Shall I send the mail again. Kiwie? Aha! I just looked and the address (that I had from some old group mail) I sent it to was different than the one in my address book. It was missing the "fj" part. Does this mean I sent it to someone else? Once I sent you one and some other family replied back!:dizzy: :dizzy:

Peaches and first graders! Can't you just picture it? I'm sure you were *wonderful* Peachy. Did they all love you and want to sit on your lap and hear a story?

I sent Stevie's kids an e-card for their birthdays (3 years apart, one April 6, one April 7. How's that for timing?) and Stevie said the 1 yo spent the whole weekend throwing up and missed his own first birthday and the 4 yo thought *all* the presents were for him. I can relate.

Sugar, the way to an old boyfriends heart is through the kids! I'm shocked. ;)

I'll have Margies with you, Wabbit. Or maybe just cold beer, we're on a budget.

Well, I'm glad you cleared up that mystery, Sugar. What did the other Crosby family say to you? I think I will email everyone here so they can stick my real address in their address book. I wouldn't want to miss any good stuff!

I want to hear about the 1st graders, Peaches -- give!

Guess what--I'm going to the Garden Show tomorrow!! I can hardly wait to breathe deep in there.

I only met Sadaam Husein once at a party of a mutual friend. I knew then that his homes would be garish. Such a total lack of taste was beyond my imagination however.

That's typical, Peaches -- they make you pay to check up on you. Did they at least give you copies of your fingerprints so you can use them for Christmas cards?

Bagz, step away from the :cookie: :jeno: :burger: :cheese: :chockiss: !!! Go clean the hair out of the bathtub, or something...

Went to the Garden Show today -- actually got up at 7:30am and drove 75 miles to meet up with my last remaining real-life friend (I did in all the rest of them :s: -- remember the axe murderer, Peaches?). We had a lovely time -- had a great lunch, saw very cool landscaping, beautiful flower arrangements, booths of neat stuff, a whole room full of stuff to buy (which I didn't, seeing's how DH still does not have a job). Then, as I was too tired to go to a movie, I visited the Humane Society and talked to all the kitties and doggies and then drove home.

Isn't that just peachy?

Hello!

Happy birthday (belatedly) to Wabby!

Sugar P, I did not get an email from you! Wah!

I've been faithfully journalling my foods and counting points for almost two weeks. Today, I was 177! pounds. I'm sure I'll be 185 tomorrow morning.

I'm watching Mission: Organization. Those people would FREAK if they saw my house ( even though it's much better now than it used to be.)

I'd better go. I have homework to do.

Good job, Cherry -- 177 sounds pretty good to me right now! I've been doing nothing at all good, and I think the weight is creeping up a bit, but I'm not looking. I think I'll chalk it up to a fat week.

Hey Lush, did you ever do anything about your arm/shoulder? Is it any better? Gawd, I think I'm really going to have to break down and actually go to the doctor. Blah.

I can't decide if I should spend most of DD's vacation away from home (not that she'd care) -- I have an open invitation to go with some dog people on a 5 or 6 day road trip to Pennsylvania to go to the national Belgian Sheepdog Specialty Show. Free ride, cheap room, a puppy to cuddle on the way home (not to keep  ) -- sounds like a great deal, doesn't it? I just can't decide whether to go. I have to wait until tomorrow anyway to see if DH has a job starting right off, but I am so undecided. Like I just can't make a decision ever again -- brain has turned to mush, please lead me around by a leash!

I am only posting because no one else has posted in a long time. Surely, someone has something more to say than I do. !! It's spring break here and I'm taking DS to the library to volunteer today. In Florida, high school students have to volunteer 75 hours to qualify for state-paid scholarships to college. Might as well get it out of the way. You post now. Please.

I'm posting to whine some more. Now along with the excema on my hands, I have it on my *feet*. One foot to be exact. Yucky thingies that aren't going away. Got a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Usually he knows nothing, but he's all I got. He'll probably refer me to a dermatologist and I'll have to wait 6 weeks for an appt. Oh well. Think I'll go bathe in cortisone. Is your rash gone now, Peachy?

I used to volunteer and I loved it. Once at a museum and once teaching ESL. People let you do all kinds of interesting stuff if they don't have to pay you for it.

Go for the dog show, Kiwi! Dd will probably love the freedom and you'll be able to forget about your bursitis. My dad had that and it was awful. I hate going to the doc, too, but sometimes they do actually know something. I always get my diagonosis from the internet and then tell them what's wrong with me and what they should prescribe to relieve it. They are usually so grateful.

Oh! Did I mention that I had my hair coloured? I look 10 years younger - NOT. Sort of a coppery-brown colour that the hairdresser thrust upon me. I guess it's ok. I always thought I had mouse brown hair but she informs me it's dark blonde. I think I'll do it myself next time. Or just go grey and blend into the wallpaper. Oh, I'm so booooooooring.

Way to go on 177, Cherry! The points must be working. I had guacamole for lunch. 256 points for me. Is vegetable fat as bad for you as animal fat? I mean, I know it makes you fatter, but does it clog your arteries? Or do avocados have bad fat, like coconuts? I'm so confused!

Wabby
04-14-2003, 01:14 PM
I'm here to clear up the confusion. Sugar, the fat in avocados is the good kind of fat. Except for the fact that it will make you fat if you eat too much of it. Kiwi, go to the dog show. DD will love the lack of parental supervision. Now, who else is confused? I'm sure I've got an answer for you.

I've been continuing on my Birthday eating marathon. A couple of friends took me out for lunch on saturday to celebrate. We had the yummiest somethin' or other Verde burritos and margaritas in huge glasses. Then we went shopping in the artsy fartsy area of town. Fun.

Sugar, if you have dark blond hair, I think you should color it golden blond. Think of all the attention you'd get. I think blonds really do have more fun. Sorry you have the skin thing going on. DS has the same problem any time he uses auto body paint, or thinners or the latex gloves he uses to avoid getting the paint or thinners on him. It can really be miserable.

One of the guys that works for us has asked if we would sponsor his son's baseball team. He wants a donation of $50, which I know isn't that much, but the way in which he asked has really got me bugged. He pretty much demanded it, and said "well it's only 50 bucks." This has really got me bugged. Why, if you own a business do ppl think you're just rolling in dough, when the reality is that you just have a bunch more worries than someone employed by someone else? I'm going to make the donation, but I'm not doing it with a smile.

Cherry! you're doing so well! I'm thinking seriously of going back to weight watchers. It's the only program I've ever been successful with. Why do I resist it?

I want Lush to post a list.

Sugar, I was reading about facial scrubs and masks recently and I came across this whole thing on a homemade aspirin mask that is the biggest thing online apparently -- and it is supposedly good for eczema! I will look for the link and post it later.

Your hair sounds nice. I think you should send us some pictures!

Thanks for all the encouragement, folks. I know you're right; I should go to the dog show and a have a little change of scenery. I kind of hate to wait until we hear whether DH will be starting a job right off -- but the :censored: people who are considering hiring him keep putting off making a decision! It's driving me crazy.

Congrats on DD's excellent performance, Lush! I know it must have been fun.

Here's my list for Wabbit:
Emptied the dishwasher
Tossed towels in the dryer
Took out chicken to thaw
Pulled down the Christmas cards
Got back on the computer

I don't make lists before I do things. If I do, I spend all my time preparing the list and no time doing anything. I can find an amazing array of things to do with a list other than the chores on it. So this kind of list is much better for me. I feel so accomplished...

Later, cowies

I went in and told him that I thought I had the same thing on my foot that I have on my hands and asked him if he would be so kind as to give me some kind of ointment to get rid of it. He obliged. Guess what's in the ointment, besides cortisone, Kiwi? Salicylic acid = aspirin! You're a genius. I looked up the aspirin mask thingie too. Sounds interesting but I'd be afraid to do it.

I close the popup pages so fast they don't have a chance to load. Then there are those page-slime ads that roll right over what you wanted to read--I can't get rid of those fast enough either. I almost never even look at them long enough to see what they were for. The only one that actually stopped me long enough to look at and I actually (heaven forbid!) followed the link -- Schwan's!! When I see that, I salivate, I can't help myself. Ice cream and stuff delivered to your door.

Sugar, I looked for that particular posting that talked about the aspirin mask and eczema, but I didn't find it. I guess if you can use it on your face, it would be safe anywhere, but that's interesting that the cream you got has aspirin in it. Must be just the ticket!

I'm enjoying that Robyn and Fred site, by the way. Fred's a hoot. I love his Food Pile.

I am SO P#$@# off. Last year when I was still that that numb Herbie, he and his buddy and this @#@$@Q woman realtor who decided she wanted to be their buddy, too, went off to Reno. Her dh went to. It was her idea. I wasn't invited. WHAT REALLY WAS BAD ABOUT IT WAS IT WAS DURING THE THREE WEEKS THAT DS WAS GONE I HAD IMAGINED HERBIE AND I WOULD BE ALONE FOR A CHANGE.

wEll, H*#@, I know it's not her fault where he goes but she d*#@ sure isn't my friend and and I've made it clear to him how I feel about in very many subtle ways. Like saying she can do a man's job because she's JUST LIKE A MAN and a heifer to boot.

Anyhow, I'm looking for a d*@@ed house and Herbie can't figure out how to use the computer so he get HER to email me this stuff. The LAST PRSON I WANT IN MY EMAIL is this opportunistic little wartwoman. How should I handle this?????????????GRRRRR

Darling_Peaches
04-16-2003, 02:17 AM
Sugar I thought the appointment was the one to make you a blonde.

Here's RANT NUMBER TWO: grrrr

DS's boyscout troop meets in another town. Near Herbie. That's how we got involved. So I drive him there. The scoutmaster asked me two weeks ago if I'd take the neckerchief box and hand out the neckerchiefs to those who need them as a lot of boys have come into the troop etc. blah blah. Scout master is nice. I am blah blah.

Now I have seen an email from another scout parent sent to everyone saying "We need to get the neckerchiefs back from Peaches. She lives in Dogpatch. I'll look after them if need be."

What the h*(@#!!! ? Do they think I'm taking them over the state line and swapping them for drugs?

I politely replied: 1. I don't know what the problem with living in Dogpatch is .... 2. What is the problem with living in Dogpatch and 3. I am not offended but maybe a bit alarmed that there may be an attitude about my living in Dogpatch.

As you can tell, I just don't feel like putting up with c*@36 these days. Not from Herbie. Not from people who live in civilization. Not from realtors. Not at all. No.

But I still don't know what to say to Herbie. Should it be
I can't believe you gave my email address to that hyenah.
Email? No, I didn't an email.
Well, yes I did get it. It was more useless than I ever dreamed.
That's all the choices I can think of. I weight 144.

Lush
04-16-2003, 10:43 AM
I think everyone is giving you a hard time because they are jealous that you weigh 144. It is a stunning achievement. When the BS people give you a hard time, you should show evidence of your weight and they will leave you alone.

You've got a lot of problems for someone from New Jersey. As Roseanna Roseannadanna would say.

Depending on how much you would like to mess with Herbie's head (i.e. lie), I think you should tell him that you deleted that before you read it because you thought it was a spammer, or exactly what you suggested: that you can't believe he gave your email address to that hyena. Please use the word hyena, it will give your statement color and heft.

As far as the BS neckerchiefs go, possession is 90% of the law  Wave them out the car window yelling "come and get em". You'll be the talk of the meeting.

DD went to the Math Team competition today, got to skip school and spend the day there with her fellow brilliant people. DH drove her to catch the "team bus" early this A.M. So I slept half the day. yippee.

Hey Peaches, I was just wondering, are the Boy Scouts in your area run by the Mormons? Maybe they want the neckerchiefs back because you aren't a Mormon mom. Just a thought. Now please don't come and flame me because I'm not saying anything good or bad one way or the other about anyone's religion. Just that when DS was in cub scouts he and his Dad made the coolest pinewood derby car in the universe and they still did not even get the consolation ribbon and I swear it had something to do with the fact that the rest of his pack all belonged to the same church, and the derby was held at the local Mormon ward. DH kept me up all night snoring last night. I'm so tired of tossing and turning in bed, maybe I'll go outside and take a nap in a snowbank. Our backyard is still half full of snow, how do you like that?

Well, Peachie-Poo, if you don't appreciate your personal mentions in my journal, I may have to switch to Sugar. I'm not allergic to that.

His name is DelRoi Packer.

I am in the library. DS is volunteering but he doesn't know I'm here. He doesn't want me here. I'm hiding out.

Since giving up sugar, bread, pasta and rice, I feel way way way better (not soooo tired) but am not losing weight. Why is that?

Kiwi, you can't eat apples. You are confused. Apples, not peaches. Get it straight.

No, I can't eat PEARS.

and I'd love to join you in a Margarita, Bagz (it'd have to be a mighty big one to fit the both of us, but I'm willing)

No, I can't eat ALMONDS.

Wow, it's a beautiful day outside and I'm inside.

No, I can't eat PLUMS.

DH went gallivanting with my Explorer today. Hope he doesn't roll it. He's going to look at manufactured homes and buy bottom paint. Weird, huh?

No, I can't eat RAW PEAS.

Or PISTACHIOS.

Or HAZELNUTS.

Or ARUGULA.

Or SHRIMP.

Or CRABMEAT.

Or ASIAN PEARS.

Or NECTARINES.

Or BRAZIL NUTS.

Or LAMB INTESTINES. haha. made you look. Not kidding.

Are you tired of this yet?

Basically if it tastes good and is good for you, I can't eat it for fear of my throat closing up. Or my eyes swelling up.

And no, I can't eat APPLES.

And I can't eat PEACHES.

But I am very fond of Peaches. And I think it's funny that she is lurking in the library.

Hey! I'm back here. Did anybody miss me???? No?

It's nice and sunny here today, too, Sugar. Sorry to hear you're a sicky. It's sunny today because yesterday I had the day off work.

The mormon underwear thing is not a joke. I had several friends who were mormon when I was a kid. Of course as soon as you get to be adults they drop you like a hot potato. Here's a webpage that shows you what they look like http://www.lds-mormon.com/veilworker/endowment1.shtml Along w/ a bunch of other hooey.

Wow, Kiwi, you can't eat alot of stuff. How about Chile Verde Burritos w/ margaritas? If you couldn't eat that, I'd be really sad for you.

Like a fool, I've volunteered to host my family's Easter dinner. We aren't religious, and don't go to church on Easter, but we believe in eating huge amounts of food, and sitting around complaining about how miserable it makes us feel afterward. I've already bought the ham. What else sounds good? It's so sad, we only have 2 Easter egg hunting participants this year. All the others have grown up.

Me, go to a doctor? Nah. I've never been tested for allergies. Those are all things I've had an allergic reaction to. The shrimp/crab/entrails items make my eyes swell up and I avoid them like the plague. Sugar's had lamb intestines I bet. At Greek Easter they make a soup called mageritsa out of lamb innards. I had it once, won't be having it again. The other allergies started only about 10+ years ago. They make my mouth and throat itch and swell up. I talked to a doctor about it and he completely ignored me. Reminded me of talking to DH when the TV's on. (And yes, I was paying him, I didn't snag him at a cocktail party or something) This is one reason I avoid doctors. I have found out on my own that this is an allergy to birch trees and related plants. Anyway, all the information says the only thing you can do is avoid the things you're allergic to -- "doesn't require medical treatment"

I'm making 2 cheesecakes tomorrow, plus strawberry sauce. There are certain advantages to being the incompetent housekeeper of the extended family -- nobody expects you to host holiday dinners. :smug:

Have a Happy Easter!

Kiwi, who never misses an opportunity to rant about her allergies (can you say boooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrring?)

What color are these garments? I know a man who wears shorts and always has black tight things sticking out from them. He's quite cute.

I think I'm almost out of the contract on that house and into a new one. The new one will be built and I get to choose colors if this goes right. What colors? I don't know nuthin about choosin no colors. Other than oatmeal, what does one put on a wall?

No, Kiwi, it's just another example of how you no doubt cheated your way through law school. Didn't go to law school? Well, you should. Wow, this is interesting about the colors. I'm using black, I expect three people to post about how stylish it is.
I am now typing with a brace. It is hard.
I painted my bedroom a grey/green. I know...you think I've gone psychedelic. Peaches, find something you love - a wallpaper or a fabric. Then pick your colors from that.
What is new around here, other than this color thing?
Is anyone else envious of WAbby's social life? I still don't have a clear picture of what Bunco is, but doesn't it sound like fun?

Rash is much better. Sore throat is gone. Thanks for asking. I'm sure it was all just a stress reaction (or punishment from the gods for sending e cards to the children of married men, eh, Wabby?:D) More stress tonight when we go to the ILs for dinner. FIL has informed dh that he is expecting a bottle of expensive schnapps for Easter. Since we are no longer supporting his addiction, he will have to do with a chocolate bunny. Pththpffffff!:p

Hmm, colours for Peachy's house. I haven't a clue. Our house has no detectable colour scheme. I'd go neutral. Then you can paint over it if it's too boring. What happened to the purple house?

Update: the neckerchief guy explained that what he said was a poor attempt at trying not to say something else (about somebody else) so I'm ok with it and Herbie sent me what I had asked for in email instead of what the hyenah sent. I've thought about that and it bugs me because 1. he told me he went to Reno last year without me because it was her idea 2. to appease me she sent me some STUPID keychain from some place she visited with a message that I should ask Herbie to take me there (I gave him an old eraser to take to her from me but he wouldn't) 3. he told me he didn't want ME 4 but is rubbing it in MYFACE that his buddyship with her is still blooming by giving the lemme-be-one-of-the-guys-but-remember-I'm-cute-jerkette my email address. Easter happens to be a day I don't care to go to church because it's so crowded. I don't like crowds.
A few years ago ds and I went to church on Easter. Because of the crowds, they held services in the sanctuary and in the social hall We went to the social hall. Tables and chairs. We stood for prayer like they do and while we were standing, the usher took our chairs and gave them to other people who were dragging in.
I told this story then and said they were a mixed-race couple and got accused of being a racist for noticing such a thing. Grrr

And as I recall, you were complaining about the fact that you were made seatless, not the various colors of the perpetrators.

Sounds like a thrilling Easter, Sugar Plum. It's supposed to be a day of rest, y'know... I made an Easter basket for DD and "hid" it behind the cereal box, and made a little tin of goodies for DH. Also little cutout cards for them, cute little bunnie and little lamb. I'm so adorable. DD made me an Easter card. It's cute.

Now she wants me off the computer so she type on this one, instead of the other one. Oy. And I've been informed my hair is gross and I need to go wash it.

Taffy-coloured hair is never gross.

So much for resting. Finished digging the three holes. Then planted a bunch of other crap and watered it. Should actually be doing laundry and making dinner but what the hey.

I remember that story, Peachy. Very sensible of you not to go today. Is that the church with the good snacks?

Darling_Peaches
04-20-2003, 04:44 PM
I almost choked, Sugar, when I read that. NOOOO, the good snacks church is the one where the preacher-guy yelled at ds when ds was six and scared him too much for us to return. DS was six then. Fifteen now. What a memory.

Yes, Kiwi, they could have been the king and queen of Norway and I would have been just as taken aback.

I made nothing for Easter for ds as he is a boy and I didn't think he would find it cool. Some friends invited us for brunch and it was marvelous. French toast made of homemade bread, asparagust, fritta, fruit salad, hot sausage, Ceasar salad, other stuff. She lives on a lake and has a hammock that's so nice. And beautiful cats. But one beautiful is highly irritating to my eyes. Redder and itchier they got. Her dh told how he has an upper respitory problem for three weeks. Then after the meal, he lights up a cigarette. (duh ... can't breathe ... putting smoke in lungs?) So it was time for us to go. I hate cigarette. As we were leaving the other guest lit up, too. My friend would too. She smokes secretly behind her mom's back. The mom had been there and gone already.

It's his house and he can smoke if he wants so the politest thing for me to do was exit. Right? I dont' know about this.

Also, she gave ds some plastic eggs and candy to fill them with. He DID!!! When we got home, I hid them. He was into it!! I am such a bad mom.

Kiwonk
04-21-2003, 04:21 AM
Dahling, you could never be a bad mom. Did you not refrain from taking him back to the scary church? Knowingly passing up the good snacks? You know if you had suggested that he go on an Easter egg hunt on your own, he would have rolled his eyes at you just like my little darling. I didn't see her turning her nose up at that fine chocolate bunny she got, though. And it is a beauty -- went to the nice candy store when I was in the citee and bought good stuff.

Sounds like a lovely meal. What is asparagust? The kind that's so thin it could blow away in a gust of wind? Our dinner was very good -- roast lamb and my fab cheesecakes with strawberry sauce. Woowee, not bad.

You know, I personally think that when people have guests that don't smoke, they should ask them if it would bother them if they smoked indoors. And if you say yes, they should very graciously move outdoors for their lung pollution. However, this rarely happens. Smokers generally feel pretty much like a put-upon minority that needs to band together and "suffer" with vocal non-smokers and then pretend that they are in no way inconveniencing those non-smokers who are too polite to object. I speak from personal experience (granted, in the hazy distant past) -- I remember being very resentful if someone asked me not to smoke, although I would always put out the cigarette. I suppose if you really didn't want to leave so soon, you could have invited DS for a "little walk" -- maybe they would have gotten the hint by the time you got back.

Just think, Sugar, you are going to have lovely bushes in your yard. I'm going to order a book called Lasagna Gardening. Not because I plan to grow a lasagna. It's some system of layering mulch and compost and so on to develop a garden where you have nothing much for soil. I will probably still be reading it in July when everyone else is picking beans or whatever.

Here is the cute card:

Wabby
04-21-2003, 01:35 PM
Peaches, you're a good mom. It has nothing to do w/ making Easter thingies, even though making Easter thingies is a nice thing to do. I decided that my children, at 23 and 20 were too old for Easter baskets, but late Saturday evening DH asked me if I had the basket situation under control. I said "I think they're too old for that". DH said "DS said he would be over early to see what the Easter bunny brought him." So apparently they never get too old for the Easter bunny. I went to the store and bought a bunch of candy for baskets, and flowers for DD since she's going to WW and would not appreciate the temptation. Of course DH needed a basket too. He's my biggest kid. When DS came over on Easter he brought me flowers too - sweet, huh?

The big family dinner went well, I made spiral sliced ham, roasted asparagus w/ a yummy parmesan/sourcream/horseradish sauce, asian cole slaw, banana cream pie, & lemon merengue pie. Contributed dishes included potato salad, deviled eggs, jello salad, potato rolls, 3 bean salad, etc, etc. We are ppl who know how to eat.

Sugar P, there is a rhodo grower here who sells huge bushes for $5 on one weekend a year. They clear out there fields once a year. I've gotten some beautiful plants, and even though they're supposed to grow like weeds here, I don't always do well w/ them. They need lots of water and sometimes in August I get tired and don't take care of them. Did you find muscles you forgot even existed after all that work?

Now that DH doesn't smoke, we ask ppl to go outside if they just have to. I love it. My house smells good now. We have covered porches, so at least they don't have to stand out in the rain. Peach, I think your friends, even though they cook good food - which counts for lots of hospitality points in my book - should take their guests lungs into consideration. Especially when you have your son w/ you. Too bad the world doesn't see things our way.

Peaches, if you mentioned that the Queen and King were an interacial couple, ppl would get upset. It's just the way of the world that some ppl are very sensitive to the racial thing. And you never know what constitutes black or white now anyway. My niece is half black, half white. You'd never know that she's 50% white by looking at her, because she definitely looks like her father. At 6 years old she's already had to deal w/ ppl's cruelty about her race several times. The kids who won't play w/ her because she's black, etc. So that's what gets ppl's shorts in all in a bundle when they think someone is making a racial comment. It's better just not to mention the race. As in "these jerky, inconsiderate people came and took our seats" (notice the lack of mention of race). You see, I know that you didn't mean to make a racial comment, because I know you're a sweet, loveable person, but lots of ppl will take it the wrong way. OK. Now you can let me have it.:^:

Hi everybody else - Hope you had a good holiday.

Yup, I would have thought 20 and 23 were getting too old for Easter baskets too -- especially when they are out of the house. Just goes to show you how much the kids love Mom. Sounds like a wonderful meal -- you're brilliant!

DH took DD to a birthday party at noon and hasn't been seen since. How mysterious. :spin: DD was so excited about this party -- she was in charge of the music. She made 4 mix cds, spent the whole weekend on it. I think she was also excited about the guest list -- I have a feeling the guy she has a crush on is going to be there. They've been friends all year, but I believe he has or had a girlfriend. Then he asked her to call him the other day -- of course I asked her why he didn't call her. She said "I think he's afraid of...." "Your parents!?" I said. "Yeah"
 Very funny, I think. No one answered the phone when she called; then Saturday she was IMing with some friends, him among them and he asked her to call him at a particular time, which she did.

And so it begins.

She hasn't gone crazy yet, but it's only a matter of time.

I had a long conversation with my mother last night. Mostly she told me about her new church :tired:

Wabbbbby, I just don't agree. I think that by deliberately avoiding saying a couple is mixed-race, it's an indication that there's something wrong with being mixed race and there isn't. I supposed that if I said BEAUTIFUL mixed-race couple it would be ok. And they didn't take our chair. The usher did. The people didn't know what was goingon. I'm sure your niece has to deal with a lot of jerks but I don't think I'm being one when I describe a person as black, white, mixed or anything else like that. What happened to the 'black is beautiful' movement? In spite of the meanness your niece has to put up with, I would hope she feels proud of who is she. Teach her my three-point way of dealing with BS:
She doesn't care what the jerk thinks
She didn't ask the jerk anything about what he/she think
And, by the way, she doesn't care for the jerk's hair, big butt, accent, whatever.
Shrug it off and go be a success.

I told my friend today that I was sorry I had left her house so quickly after eating. She said that was ok and the other guest had stayed too long. Rolled her eyes. Dropped it there. The people with the house accepted the offer. I'mnot sure if I'm glad or not.

haven't bought it yet. Title work has to be done. the owner has to ACTUALLY do all the work she said she would do. Love it? It's small and old and I was looking forward to the new house with the great floorplan. But that one's in a place I don't want to live and this one is where I would like to spend my time. The drive to work is where I'll end up spending it. Stupid Old Herbie update: I told him about the offer acceptance and he said there are more things to do in that area ... but with more things to do, I'll spend more money. Up here in Dogpatch, we sit on the porch and whittle while we watch the cars go by. One every two hours or so.
