Where is everyone??????:( So, I'll just stop by and say hello.
The kiddies had a 2 hour delay from school today- as there was ice left over from the snow storm yesterday.... So today has been sort of abnormal. I did get 2 1/2 miles in with Leslie Sansone....had to for my sanity! Tomorrow is WI- I'll check in and let you know how that goes. Have a great nite.

Ginny~Good luck with your weigh in today! I'm sure it'll be great, and I was going to ask, if you don't mind telling. What's your total lost so far? I sure do miss my weight watcher meetings and friends that are there, so I'm going to drop by the meeting next week. By then I'll be able to update them on the baby, and catch up on how they're all doing too! I'm glad to hear that you got in your walking tape, I love to walk with Leslie, but haven't been doing it. BTW, I wanted to reply about a comment you made on SAHM#71, about getting me to drink my water. I need all of the help I can get, because as bad as I know I need it, I still don't like the stuff!?! But just to let you know, I am drinking, and my kidney's love me for it!!!
I hope everyone's doing good, and can get in here soon, we miss ya!
Have a great day!

I promised to check in and I am short on time yet again.. but I wanted to check in!
I gained .5 pound! I think it is from all the soreness in my muscles though. Htey say that water tends to pool there to help relieve the burn. My clothes are already feeling better though and I love the feeling I have when my workout is over!! :)
Mel - Drink that water! Have you tried adding a little tiny bit of Crystal Lite to the water to make it more paletable? That is a trick I learned from WW to help me get started on all my water drinking.
Ginny - You are so good at checking in! I need to make it a larger priority in my life! I have to find out a way to post a picture of my latest creation for you! I crocheted a lucious scarf with Sequence in it... I am debating whether or not to submit it to a publisher or keep it for me! :)
OK.. I am off.. time to drop off the kids and then off to the gym!
Talk to you all soon!
04-09-2003, 11:33 AM
Good morning all!
Ginny I can't wait to hear how your meeting goes today and your WI! Have lots of fun. :)
Mel, when did you say your ultrasound is? Is it this week? You must be getting ansty by now!
Karen, you stay so busy! That scarf sounds wonderful! How did you ever get into the crocheting business?? Sounds like you love what you do and that is great. I tried to crochet once... bought me a beginners book and all that and I just can't seem to get anywhere. All the women in my family crochets and I wish I could too. maybe I'll try again after the baby comes. I love to cross stitch though!
Well, today is my appointment. I'm looking forward to it. It's not until 1:15, but we have an hour drive to get there so I am trying to get things done this morning. My DH is still snoring away so I have to get him up and around soon so that I can get in the shower and all that. I love my appointments for two reasons... 1. I get to see how my little one is doing and it makes me feel that much closer to holding him and 2. my DH and get to spend several hours together without the kids. That is so nice sometimes. We go to the appointment and then grab something to eat afterwards and it's just nice being alone with him again. I cherish the time spent. So today should prove to be a very good day for me!
Guess I'll get off here. I hope everyone has a wonderful OP day and I can't wait to read your posts later tonight!

Melissa- sounds like you are feeling better!!!!! Great! Another way to sneak that water in...........try adding some flavored seltzer to it- just enough to add some taste without too much fizzzzzzzz (if the fizzies upset your stomach or you are heartburn prone as I got while pg). But drink, drink, drink. It is so good for both of you.
Karen- ignore that .5#!!!! Could it be you ate a lot of salt the day before, or is TOM approaching? It is important to WI at the same time of day too, assuming that all of your other habits (eating, drinking etc... )are pretty much the same. Hang in there, those pounds will come off!!!!!:) Gee the scarf sounds pretty- I was just thinking that I had not done any hand work in a month or two.....then of course my sewing machine is still out with the vest that I did not finish in it :( . But I'd love to see the scarf- hope that you can find a way to send us a picture. You are so creative!!
Spryng- your day sounds so nice!!!! I hope that your appointment goes well- and that you and Dh have some much needed quality time with each other. How nice to get a few hours alone with him!!!!!!:) Enjoy it.
Well, todays lecture......or laugh (my WW leader is quite a comic) was on Holiday Eating and how we are going to handle it. She gave us 4 tips and suggested that we use all 4 depending upon the event, the food involved and just whatever circumstances are.
1. Make a lower point version of the same dish or meal.
2. Have less of the food (s).
3. Have some of the food but less often.
4. Pinpoint your favorites and forgo the rest.
And she did add that it is best to go ahead and have some of your favorites- denial won't work, you'll just feel cheated and it is only one day!!!!! Get back on track the next day.:)
I lost 2.4# this week- for a total of 17.6 thus far......I still have a long way to go............. but when I see the total it does feel good.
Gotta go!! Hope everyone is having a great day.
04-09-2003, 06:41 PM
WOO HOO Ginny! Good job on your weigh in! And your total loss! You are doing so well!
Spyrng - I remember going to the doctor with my hubby for pre-natal appts! that was so much fun! Tell us how it goes!
Since you asked, My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 7. for the first 25 years I just followed other peoples patterns and tweaked them when I wanted to change something. But in 1998 I meet another pattern designer and she encouraged me to try designing. I did, Sold the first designs that I submitted.. and I was off and running. I am doing so much these days.. here is a couple of pictures for you:
Good evening all!
Oh Karen that is a beautiful scarf! I sure wish I could see your face though! :)
Ginny, congrats on the WI!! That is another great week for you. And the advice you got about holiday eating sounds very realistic. Those meetings just sound more and more appealing to me every day!
Well, my day went quite well. I've only gained 23 lbs so far, which I was commended on by my midwife. I passed my glucose and iron tests with flying colors, the baby's heart beat was strong and guess what? She said he is dropping already!! He is head down and starting to engage already so I just may go early with this one! That made me very happy. Anytime after 37 weeks he is more than welcome to make his appearance. So the appointment went great. I go back in 3 weeks and then start every two weeks. Getting down to the countdown now! My Dh and I enjoyed Olive Garden together and I ate so much, it was delicious. I ate alot of salad. It just seemed to hit the spot today. Then we got back to my MIL house and they set a date for the baby shower, May 17. I am so thrilled that they are doing this for me. I really never expected it this time around so I am just floored that they even care.
I guess that sums up my day. It went very well. But I am so tired. I didn't get my usual nap today. Oh and did any of you watch American Idol? I missed who got voted off tonight and their site hasn't updated yet. Any info would be great!
Well, I'll chat with you ladies tomorrow! Have a great night! :)
04-10-2003, 12:48 PM
Just a short response........
Karen, what a pretty scarf!!!! What stitches did you use- what yarn??? It looks great, but like Spryng, I would have liked to see your face too!!!!!!:) Thanks for sharing it with us.
Spryng- sounds like you had a great day. Olive Garden is one of my favorite places, and their salad is so yummy. Great too that the midwife visit went well- and that the baby has dropped. Wow- it seems early!!!!
Got my 5 am walk in :dizzy: - and now have a ton of things to do.
Gotta go- have a great day!
04-10-2003, 05:19 PM
Congratulations to you Ginny, for another great scale victory! Wow, those losses are adding up quick, keep it up! I'm so excited for you, I look forward to sharing in the losses after the baby comes, and I really miss my meetings!
Karen, don't you worry about that .5, cause you have greatly changed your activity level and you'll see the rewards soon!!! Keep going, and think of me, cause I need a workout too! I was actually thinking of trying to do my Leslie Sansone, but I'm going to ask my DR. first.
Spryng, sounds like you and your Dh had a nice time, and yea for you. So the baby is dropping already? Have you started to dilate yet? I'm happy that all was good!!! To answer your question, I go Monday morning for my ultrasound, and I can hardly wait!!!! Cross your fingers that the baby cooperates, cause the last time Dh was at the DR. with me, the baby was trying to get away from the doppler, so I hope we don't go through that with the ultrasound!?!
Well, I'm about ready for a nap, have a good evening.
04-10-2003, 08:38 PM
I came online to do some research for Dh, and of course I could not resist stopping in to say hello. So here I am again.
Melissa- you sound so excited about your sonogram!!! I am excited for you too. And I sure hope that the baby sits still long enough to have a picture taken! (we still have the sono picture of Ds, sucking his thumb- something that took many years to give up). I hope that you got a nice nap in. I always asked about excersize while pg- with Dd I was insane about working out (but then with no other children, I could go to the gym 6 days a week and work out for 2 hours a day) and the other 2 I did at least do a lot of walking and some low impact aerobics. You are used to some working out from WW, I can't see why your Dr would object. Let us know what the verdict is!!!
Well we got our blood test back today (from 2 weeks ago)- I am doing some research online now for Dh as his T4 level (thyroid) was a wee bit low. Yes, I already called the Dr and he is going on Monday. It is actually good news, I think, as it explains why he is so tired and crabby. The rest of his blood work was fine, and his cholesterol was 188-simply amazing with all the junk he consumes! As for me, I am in shock. Mind you 2 years ago, my cholesterol was 215 (or somewhere around there)- one year ago it was 189- when I had lost some weight and weighed in around where I am now, I think- and now it is 155. No meds at all- I do eat oatmeal (yes, I like the stuff) and I'm walking and of course on WW. I never dreamed it would be so low.
Well, enough of me.......gotta finish my session on Webmd and help Dd with her spelling. Have a good nite.
04-11-2003, 01:45 AM
Good evening all.
Well today is a bittersweet day for me. I had a great day at first, we went to Kansas City and did our summer clothes shopping which was a blast. Then we came home to my aunt on the answering machine with bad news. Let me back up some....
A few days ago I found out my cousin who is 21 weeks pregnant had an amnio and it turned out her baby (a girl) had Turner's Syndrome. Usually babies can be born and live a normal life (Turner's Syndrome is where one of the X chromosomes is messed up and the girl needs hormones to help growth and female hormones during puperty, etc) but all in all they can lead a normal life. Well her baby had this disease and her amniotic fluid was low and the baby had some cysts on it's head and neck and the doctor said she would lose the baby soon. Very sad. So today they went back to the doctor and had another ultrasound just to discover the baby had indeed died... no heartbeat. So tragic. Now she has to be induced and have the baby naturally and all that and it just so tramatic. She's just 21, this is her first pregnancy and it is breaking my heart because it's so unfair. She lives in oregan. I want to send her something but I'm not sure what. Any advice on that would be great. But anyway, that has been my day. Now it's very late and I'm so tired. I'll talk to you all tomorrow. G'nite!
04-11-2003, 11:50 AM
Spryng- gee that is just awful about your cousin. First of all, would you please give me her first name, I would like to pray for her. What she is going thru is pure ****, forgive me but that is what it is. I had 3 miscarriages in 12 months- it is only by the grace of God that I did not lose my sanity. As far as what you can do for her, is just listen......and love her. Encourage her to go to a bereavement group, even in the small town I live in the hopsital had one for those who lost pregnancies, newborns or had stillbirths. It was a gut wrenching experience but it helped so much. From what I hear the ordeal of having to go thru labor is rough. (I was spared that). She might have a tough time accepting your baby/pregnancy at the moment so please allow her whatever space she needs. Honestly, I would send her flowers on the her actual due date for this baby. Yes, the anniversary will be hard for her- and she will most likely never forget the day she lost this baby, or the day it was due. It is something that never ever leaves you. If you like, I have some excellent articles that I got from the bereavement group that I would be happy to send to you (US mail) that I found some comfort in. Nothing will take away the pain....but it will lessen and fade.....also sharing with others helps. One thing to avoid saying is "your next pregnancy will be fine"- you have to let her mourn this pregnancy. And especially that this was her first (I lost my first pregnancy also, so I know how that feels) she will most likely not be sure about that until she delivers a healthy baby. I hope that I was of some help.......hope that I did not speak too harshly here.......but I figure that the only reason that the Lord gave me the trials of miscarriages was so that maybe I could be a blessing to someone else at a later time. I will keep you and your cousin in prayer.
And anything else seems trivial............see ya later.
Spryng, PM me with your home address if you want me to send those articles to you.

I'm sorry that I've been MIA for quite some time. At first, I litterally couldn't find the computer to even check my email or everyone's posts! (DS's room is so trashed that it was right in the middle of his room, but I still couldn't see it!) So....once ds showed me where it was, I was way too busy. Then-each day got busier & busier. I've been working really hard trying to get rid of clutter around the house. I'm bound & determined to use our basement as extra living space, so I need to tend to the "upper level" first & then hopefully in the next month, I will have a chance to declutter the basement! :o Spryng: I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your cousin's baby. I feel that Ginny has given some great advice to you, seeing that she has went through 3 misscarriages herself. As for me-I'm not sure if I ever misscarried, but for over 4 years I would only get periods 3-4 times a year. So-I'm not sure if they could have been miss periods, or if maybe I misscarried. I do know how devastating it was for me to think that I could maybe be pregnant & then be disappointed with my flow! I would get so jealous when one of our friends announced that they were pregnant & I had to so impatiently wait & not know what the outcome would be for me! Well, after being married for almost 5 years, the Lord blessed me with a healthy baby boy & almost 5 years later, we were blessed with a healthy baby girl! So-this completes our family. (Unless you want to include the cats!) On a better note: I'm glad that you had a great time in Kansas City & were able to pick up your summer clothes. Ginny: Again-great advice that you gave to Spryng. Also-Congratulations on your continued weightloss & also for such a great cholesterol reading! It must be from all the walking that you do! As for your DH-I'm sorry to hear that his numbers were so high! (At least you know where his grumpieness comes from.) ;) Oh, Oh! I just got a phone call & will probably be talking for awhile. I'll check in later! TTFN

Hello Ladies, and Gents
I just wanted to say HI>>>>
Am a Newbie, to this site...
Congrats on the WL...
Hope to learn something from U all... and to
Learn about you as well...
04-11-2003, 03:55 PM
I'm Spryng, married for 5 years now and mother of two with one on the way! I've been pasrt of this thread for over a year now and have made great friends here! Obviously I'm not dieting right now due to being pregnant but I only have about 2 months to go and then I'll be back on the weight loss wagon!
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? What plan are you on? I think you'll find you love it here and hope you get the support for weight loss you need! We will all do our best! Can't wait to hear from you again!
Ginny, thanks for the advice. I know saying "you can always have another baby" is the worst thing to say to her, and she has heard it already from her mom and sister... I had to set them straight. Of course she can probably have another one but it doesn't ease the pain of losing the one she is carrying now... nothing will replace that baby for her. And yes I don't talk about my pregnancy with her at all... I know it's not what she needs to hear. I'm trying to be really sensitive to her feelings and trying to put myself in her shoes so I know what to say and not to say. But I was thinking about sending a nice card and maybe a pretty journal to her so she can record her thoughts through all of this. What do you think? Is that a nice gift? And suggestions are appreciated. I know when I went through a rough time in my marriage (as a few of you know) I bought a journal and boy did it really help me sort out my feelings. I still write in it all the time and just love it. So maybe she would appreciate the same.
Other than that my day is going really good. It's 75 degrees here and so beautiful! I bought some potting soil and repotted a couple house plants and it felt so good to be working with the dirt again. Makes me want to do more. Now I'm trying to get my house in order, my DH's sister is coming over this afternoon to visit and my house isn't great looking at the moment. One more load of dishes, and vacuum the living room oughta do it. SO I guess I'll get off here and get busy.
I hope you all are having a great OP day! And Misty and Mel I hope you are having good pregnancy days!! Talk to you later!:)
04-11-2003, 04:05 PM
I'm back! (FYI: I wasn't talking on the phone the whole time while I was gone.) First of all-I'd like to Welcome Deb to our thread. We're a group of SAHM's, some of us stay home FT & some of us are PT. I'm glad that you have decided to join us! A little about myself: I'm a PT stay at home Mom of two children, who mean the world to me. I have a ds that's 14 & a dd who will be 10 in August. We also have 3 cats & one goldfish living inside our home with us & one outside cat that we are presently foster parents to. (She also is just about ready to give birth again!) I'm also married & will celebrate 19 years of marriage on 6/23. I just recently started the Weight Watcher's Program and have been faithfully going to the meetings for the past 3 weeks. So far I have lost 3.6#, but unfortunately I gained 1# back again. So...I guess you could say that I really only lost 2.6#, which is fine with me. I'd rather lose it slower, as I may have a better chance of keeping it off then. Mel: I would think that walking would be a great exercise for you through your whole pregnancy. (Of course, you wouldn't want to walk too far away from home when it gets closer to the due date!) I was a city mail carrier during both of my pregnancies & continued to walk my route right up until time of delivery (baby's delivery, that is!) I would check with your doctor first to make sure that this w/b ok for you. I actually got more exercise at 9 mos. pregnant than what I've been doing lately.:^: It is true, it's harder to exercise once we have kids to tend to & all the work that goes along with having a family. I have to keep on convincing myself to take the time to exercise. So...if you & the rest can remind me from time-to-time, that would be great! Karen: Thanks for posting the pictures. The scarf is beautiful! Someday I'd like to learn how to crochet better. I just know the basic chain stitch & could make a simple scarf or hot pad. As for your other picture that you posted: I tend to agree with Spryng & Ginny that it would be nice if you could ad a face to the picture. :D Oh well, you can always send one, right? Just like myself-I'm still a mystery to everyone here when it come to what I look like. (Okay Ginny, no comments!!) Also Karen-I hope that that lousy 0.5# left you, and please don't send it my way, okay? ;)
Well gals, I better get back to my decluttering project. Have a great weekend!!
04-11-2003, 06:44 PM
Just a short hello- I came online looking for a possible email that I was waiting for a response from.........Ds's math teacher.........you don't want to know.
Hi Deb! Glad that you could check in with us! We are all in the throes of raising a family- and for quite a few even enlarging our families! (we have 3 pregnancies among us!). For those of us who are not pregnant- we share our lives and weight loss struggles or victories. I am the mother of 3- Dd (16), Ds (14) and Dd (7). I work part time driving a large vehicle...........(school bus)- but consider myself more of a stay at home mom- I was when my gang was little and I still manage to get to most of the school functions during the day with my schedule. Right now I am on Weight Watchers (meetings and all) and have been happy with it. Tell us something about yourself? I look foward to getting to know you better!
Jackie- how are you doing......now that you found the 'puker! (I had to laugh at that one, sounds like my house!) I know that you had to leave for a phone call....did you get to your WI? How was your meeting?
Spryng- After reading my post from before, I thought that I would add that with the flowers I would send a simple card saying thinking of you with love- or something like that. Yes it will be painful for your cousin but believe me it is common for others to try to skip over the baby's due date (believe me, she will not be able to do so!) and just something to aknowledge your sensitivity to her pain will mean so much. I am no expert on miscarriages- having had 4 of them myself- and know that some react quite differently than I did. My first one (20 years ago) was easier to deal with- but it was very early in the pregnancy. The other 3 (between Ds and Dd (7)) were awful...
Gotta go get dinner on the table.Take care!
04-11-2003, 06:51 PM
Jackie and Spryng snuck in while I was posting.............
Jackie- according to my WW leader.......you lost 3.6#, Ok!? (she does not count the ones you regain- what a positive lady!~)
Spryng- I like the journal idea.......
04-11-2003, 07:28 PM
Spryng, I'm sorry to hear about your cousins loss and I agree with Jackie, I think you got some great help from Ginny. I like the idea of sending her a journal, and I'm sure she'll like it.
Jackieglad you made it back, and I can totally relate with you about your Ds room, cause my Ds always has clutter. I don't know how to make him understand that if he would just pick up after himself daily, then it wouldn't pile up! Oh well!?! And as for that nasty 1lb. it'll be gone next week, and I'd still say stick with your 3.6 lb total! You earned it!!!
WELCOME Deb!!! I'm Melissa~a full time stay at home mom with 1 Ds(12) and a baby on the way. I've been married to Dh going on 8 years Monday! Which by BTW is also the day we go for our ultrasound and hopefully find out the sex of our baby!?!
I look forward to getting to know you better!
I'm still doing fine, drinking my water, but not like I should? I've been doing alot of cleaning, and am getting short tempered with Dh cause I'm ready to finish the babies room. Dh is "gone fishin" and Ds has brought a friend over so I won't get anything done this weekend!?! Oh well, enough fussing out of me, I think my hormones are getting the best of me, and I'm sure Dh and Ds would agree!
Y'all have a good evening!
04-12-2003, 06:14 PM
Just another kooky afternoon here in my life...............
Melissa- gosh, I can understand you wanting to get the room done for the baby!:) But, you have a lot of time there- and I guess you have to let the boys play....... have a cup of tea and try to get some time off for yourself while Dh is fishing!!!
As for us- we got some gardening done- it is a nice spring day here. And just an hour ago, a Coopers Hawk flew into our parked car in the driveway- and obviously is shaken up. After numerous calls to animal shelters, our vet - and on and on I found one semi knowledgable person and the bird is resting now in a cardboard box. We are hoping that it is just stunned and will be fine after a rest. I'm waiting for a call back from the local raptor society with details.....never a dull moment here.
Ok, I'd better scoot!!! My eating is a bit wierd today- but if I behave I can still stay within points. Hope that everyone's weekend is going well.
04-12-2003, 07:41 PM
Good afternoon all!
Wow what a gorgeous day here! It was only supposed to get to 75 but ended up being more like 85! So we went fishing this afternoon, didn't catch much of anything but a sunburn. :) Then we came home and I filled the kids pool up for them and they had a blast. I think they are going to sleep well tonight. They are both pooped from the sun. So I'll probably put them down early tonight so that they are refreshed for church tomorrow.
So today has been a great day. Lots of fresh air, etc.
Well, I got to get off here. Have a great evening all!
04-12-2003, 07:47 PM
Yes Ginny, I hear you, but I am excited and impatient and do tend to worry a bit much! Plus, I went in labor 6 weeks early with Ds and was put on strict bed rest, after a long hospital stay. So I guess I just want to get every thing done early, just in case!?!
It's a beautiful day here too, so Ds and I went to town and walked around for a while, after we took his friend home, just to get out of the house. And the excercise is good for me, so~two birds with one stone!
Have a beautiful weekend!
04-12-2003, 11:45 PM
Gee, it sounds like everyone had some great weather today!!!!!
Just a quick update on the hawk- as if I do not have enough to do.....but I felt so awful for the little bird- it is a Sharpfin hawk- a little bit smaller than a Cooper's Hawk. After about 8 phone calls, I got thru to the Delaware County Raptor Society ( about 50 miles away in Pennsylvania) and we met half way (I was headed to Walmart anyway and it only took me 5 miles out of the way) and she took the hawk. Ends up if I had kept the bird the way one source I had called I probably would have killed it.......purely by accident of course....but it would have died almost for sure. Well, at least now it stands a chance- if it was meant to survive.
We went out to dinner at Ihop- I got a grilled chicken sandwich, so I behaved.
Better go and take care of what I had to online. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hi again LADIES.......
First to Spryng...... Thanks for welcoming me on board first...
Second to Freckles My youngest shares your Anniversary... tis her birthday...
To all the others who made me feel welcome.... thanks also...
Ok, now for the DETAILS>>>> LOL
I am a SAHM of 3... Will be Married to hubby for 11 years in AUGUST... Ds 9 (born on our anniversary), Dd 8 (was a year and 9 days later) , Dd 4 (is spoiled rotten) All 3 have summer birthdays... *so feel for you moms pregnant during that time.....
I live in New Mexico........, and my hubby drives a Truck, He is on a Dedicated run to chicago 2x's a week. So he is only home on average 1.5 to 2 days a week... (very difficult)
So in actuality.... I am really a SINGLE Parent most of the time.
My youngest has CP... slight case compared to most... only effects her right side, thumb and 1st 2 fingers, and cant turn arm over but has good use of it as a helper hand.... most people dont notice the handicap... she also is effected in her leg... she toe walks, but gets botox shots every 5 months to relax the leg... so again is not that noticable... she is in pre-school k-4 BUT way ready for 1st grade, she was not mentally effected at all... PTL
My oldest daughter is in 3rd grade, she Home Schools 1/2 days and is in PS 1/2 days... She is very independant, and is my middle kid.
My oldest is my SON.... He goes to PS all day.... I have problems with him... he is a year and 9 days older then his sister, but he is a hand-ful... night and day between the two... makes me want to pull my hair out....
I grew up in a family of girls, so raising him by myself is very taxing on me.........
He is rude, and is self-distructive----not physically to himself..., just sabatoge's himself relationship wise with everyone.... he is mean to everyone, he is selfish, and self-centered........ and thoughtless. needless to say He is challenge.............. He can also be very sensitive and sincere, He is EXTREMELY BRIGHT, and A Know it all... which is part of his problem........ He flaunts it... So He try's my patience...... *(anyone with boys that have advice would be helpful)
I am a Christian, Born again.... Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb........ and I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour.

and I believe I can not do it alone...... but that I can do all things in Christ who Strengthens me...
I am 39 yo... will be 40 in September, had my first child at 30, and gained 83 lbs with him, lost 40 and found out almost immediately I was pregnant again... gained 26 lost 26, but still had 40 lbs on when I got pregnant with last one... Gained 63 lbs only lost 23 had 40 lbs left from 3rd pregnancy....
Leaving me over 80lbs over weight... was 10 lbs over weight when i started... so WHOOPING 90 lbs to lose,
have struggled up and down for last 4 years... was down to 208 last September, but since October have gained 20 lbs... starting weight was 229 on 3/27/03
I am using SB (more or less)... just started and not abstaining completely from sugar....... (Addicted 39 years..., hard habit to break)
Went to a Chiropracter few weeks ago, and he told me that from the x-ray he took of me, that I am carrying 40 lbs of water in my mid-section area alone.... so he has put me on a NATURAL DIARETIC.... and He is the one that turned me onto Sugar Busters (SB)...
I have lost 9 lbs since I started 12 days ago..., but am sure that it is mostly water weight... (*specially since I started my period right after I started SB) weight went up and down like a yo-yo last week...
I am keeping a food journal, and exercise journal..., and I have changed my eating habits considerably... I am also charting my weight loss... so that I can see the RESULTS... (*I am also aware the scales will be changing because of muscle and fat differences)
I have also measured myself.... and will be keeping track of the inches... *(which really will tell the story more accurately.
I am now eating 3 meals a day, with 1 snack... I am drinking my prescribed Diaretic Tea.......... taking a fat burner pill, and exercising.
My goal is to get to 135-140... tops being 140 I fluctuate 3lbs every month water retention... so will be aiming for 137 probably....
I have a 70 year old KNEE............. and am only able to do limited exercise's or i cant walk for days....... so I am stuck using my recumbent bike or walking........ I have began to incorporate 10 minutes of weights for the upper body, and crunches in my work out...
which is as follows
2 minute slow warm up on bike
15 minutes fast pase bike
10 minutes exercise/weights... 15 reps of 10 different exercises
15 minutes fast pase bike
3 minute cool-down
Total 45 minute work out...
3 meals a day.... about same time each day...
(Natural) Diaretic Tea, and Water....
I have made the switch to whole grains, and stone ground breads, rice, etc.... but i still have some sweets, just moderately....... and am eating more FRUITS AND VEGYS and PROTEINS
am trying to eat a serving of each at every meal... *not consistent at BFast yet... but working on it.
WELL, ONE other thing about me is that I dont get much ADULT Conversation.... so I will post long posts when I do....... most of the time... so bear with me.... :)

I think I welcomed you a few posts ago.....left some personal info about myself too- if you don't get to read it I'll repost it, but just do not want to bore the others with my personal stuff. (they are all sick of me already:lol: ). You'll find a lot in common with others here- we have one with a truck driver hubby, there are at least two of us (besides you now;) ) who are born again believers- some kids with learning disabilities- my Ds who although has no disabilities is on a continual search to find new ways to make his mother crazy and not do his homework......... I sure hope that you feel comfortable here. Some of us leave long posts........some short........whatever you can do that day. Sounds like you have a great plan for losing weight and are off to a great start!!!!!! Those pounds will come off.......do not focus on the total number. One good part of Weight watchers is that your initial goal is to lose 10% of your body weight- that is your first goal and just in doing that you will feel and look better. I am going with a friend to WW who if she were to go to a goal weight within WW's range has probably 110# to lose........it is a long journey but those pounds do come off. Take it one day at a time- one pound at a time. Hang in here with us, you'll find plenty of encouragment!!!!!!!!!:)
Well, I just came online to print out a letter- not much new here.
We went to church this am- and will be doing some of our usual Easter traditions today as Dd will be in Florida next week with her HS softball team (her softball coach himself is an ordained minister and they will be attending church at his brother's church in Fla Easter Sunday.)
Guess I had better scoot and clean up after lunch. Have a great weekend!!!!!!

Good evening all!
Well today has been a weird one for me. I went to church this morning which was great as usual, then after I came home I just kinda slid into a tiny depression... felt mad and irritable etc. Then we went to DH parents house and felt worse, had some soda and voila! Cheery again! What is up with that?! I was driving myself up the wall with how negative I was feeling... guess it was hormones. AHHH, I'm sick of pregnancy hormones taking over me. :) But it turned out to be a nice day after all. After we came home DH helped me deep clean the house. We actually attacked every room and I think a clean house can boost anyone's spirits... or maybe it was the Guns n Roses blaring on the stereo, lol, well either way it worked for me and now I am in a wonderful mood.
Sorry I haven't got personal tonight. I have to get off here and get myself to bed... I have a friend coming over early tomorrow. I'll talk to you all later!
04-14-2003, 12:04 PM
Just came on to say hi- Dh stayed home to go to the Dr. He should be home soon. My inlaws are coming over tonite- so I had better go make my house look presentable. Have a great day!!!!! (sorry for not getting personal, maybe later)
04-14-2003, 10:59 PM
Well,I survived today...I had to come online to get directions for Dh, and had to vent. Lets start with the good news. The Dr was not worried about Dh's blood test- he took another to snoop around some more and see if all the thyroid levels were off but was not worried. He mentioned that if there is a problem that it is easily fixed with meds. So that is good- and I am glad that Dh even went to the Dr (he hates to go). I am about ready to lose it here though......last night I had yet another phone conversation with Ds's math teacher....his grades are poor and he does not care about math at all. (other subjects are ok). So last night Dh promised to do Ds's math homework with him (the other alternative was being tutored) and guess what did not happen?????!!!!!!!!! Dh told me "he was working downstairs for over an hour"- well I have evidence that Ds was playing computer games- and who knows about the math homework.
To quote Dh " you are being anal" and there is always tomorrow nite.:dizzy: Oh well.....sorry to be such a crank- it is just so frustrating. I could bore you with more but it would not fix a thing.
As far as my day- I got a 35 minute walk in and ate strangely but stayed in points range. I'd better scoot and finish getting these directions online.
Hope your day went well!

Good morning everyone!
I have to laugh! My DD took that picture of me with the scarf. She is only for.. so now you know why I have no head! :)
here is a better picture of us! This was our family christmas photo.. in my hubby's Miata
I am doing well... TOM is rearing its head and I am having CRAMPS bad! But I have been going to the gym 3 days a week and doing well with it. Eating is getting under control! not perfect but SO much better! I just wish TOM would be over so that I can get a true picture of my weight! I am showing a gain of 1.5 total now.. but my clothes are looser! Sigh..
I will check in more later! I have to run and get the kids to school!
talk to you all soon!
04-15-2003, 11:26 AM
I thought that was the whole family pic.. but that was just the pic of DH and I! It is from our bio at our miata club!
04-15-2003, 11:57 AM
Karen I love that picture of you, and although I have seen one of you (at the crochet web site, I think) I am always happy to see smiling faces! Thanks for posting it! Sorry that you are not feeling well with TOM......but it will pass (thankfully it does!) and I hope that the scale reflects the hard work you have been putting in.:)
As for me, I am in a better mood than last nite ( not too happy with Dh there...)- the house is quiet for now. I'm off for my walk and tomorrow is WI. I will be surprised if I lose this week-not that I have been all that off program- but my eating has been strange. And I think I am approaching PMS time too:( as I can feel a bit bloated.
Gotta go hang some wash and get a walking. Have a great day!
04-15-2003, 01:52 PM
Good morning all!
Ginny sorry to hear that you are having some tense moments. Dh's know just what buttons to push don't they? Thankfully though they usually go through phases and come out of them quick enough, I'm here for you! I think you will see a loss tomorrow. If your eating has been good then that weight has to come off.
Karen, you are so pretty! It's funny how you always get an idea of what a person looks like in your head and mine never actually matches reality. But it's nice now to have a face to go with your name!
Well, my day is ok. My dh didn't have to be at work until 11 am so he let me sleep in. It was so needed. I've been having alot of vivid nightmares lately that wake me up alot at night. I know it's just hormones and the pregnancy but boy I will be glad when it's over. (the night mares that is) So sleeping in really helped me catch up on some sleep.
Today I don't have much planned. Just tinkering around the house and such. the weather is turning chilly today, we're suppose to be getting alot of rain soon. So I think the kids will be inside all day. Oh, I turned 30 weeks yesterday!! That's a huge milestone for me. My countdown has officially began now. How exciting!!
Well, got to get off here. Talk to you all later!
04-15-2003, 06:50 PM
Spryng- sorry to hear that you are having nightmares.......sleeping during pregnancy is an adventure to begin with (I used to miss sleeping on my stomach!) and then to get hormonally induced nightmares....... I feel for you! Glad that you got some extra rest and a quiet day to go with it! You deserve it . (congrats on making 30 weeks!)
Yes, I agree, Karen has such a pretty face.......and a nice personality to go with it!:)
Got my walk in (a wee bit too hot for me today- it was almost 80) - and my eating is a bit off but ok. I'm tired, mostly cause I have been too busy.
Gotta go get dinner on. Have a great nite!!!!!
04-15-2003, 07:53 PM
Well, Here I am!
I didn't have the heart to post yesterday, cause I was a bit down in the dumps. We went for the ultrasound, and the baby is doing great, but the tech waited to long to see what the sex is and the baby decided to roll onto it's stomach and go to sleep. So we still don't know, but I am happy that things are developing fine! She did say that the baby weigh's about 12 oz. and has long legs. :) Anyway, I went for my DR.s appt. today, and told her what happened and she said that she'll try to get me in for another ultrasound next month!!!
Congratulation Spryng, on making 30 weeks, I'm officially over half way! Only 18 weeks and 6 days to go! Since we're having a scheduled C-section, we're going in at 39 weeks~if not before!?!
I totally relate to you, my dreams have been so crazy, and mostly upsetting since I've been pregnant. I won't miss that part a bit, and can't wait till they're gone.
Ginny, I wouldn't worry too much about your weigh in, you've been doing so... great, I just know you'll have a loss!!!
Karen, I have to say Ditto... you're a very pretty lady. And as for your gains, TOM can do that to you, and with a combination of your new workout scedule, I just know you'll be greatly rewarded after TOM is gone!
Well, it's time to go rest and get rid of this headache.
04-15-2003, 11:45 PM
Oh mel! I'm sorry your little one wouldn't cooperate! But it's nice that your ob will schedule another one for another peek! With all three of my kids we've always found out on the first U/S but I hear alot of women say their babies were in hard to see positions. But hang in there... as fast as time is going by you'll be at your next ultrasound in no time and find out! But glad to hear everything else looked great. That's always a relief.
Ginny, I miss sleeping on my stomach too. But I'll be back on it in no time. The night I had my son I slept all night on my stomach, it felt so good! Hopefully things are settling down at your house and you are in better spirits tonight, if not then I am sending you a great big smile and HUG!
Well, my day has been long. I've been having lots of braxton hicks today and feeling tired. But I think it's because we ran out of bottle water (the tap here tastes horrible) and I haven't been drinking much water the past three days. But my DH brought some home tonight and I have been guzzling it like crazy since then and the BH has subsided. but the tiredness remains so I am going to bed early tonight to get some rest.
So I guess I will talk to you all tomorrow. Jackie I hope you are doing fine, haven't heard from you in a few days. Miss you! And Misty hope you are feeling well too. Have you made an appointment to see your doctor yet or know your due date? Can't wait for all that info!
04-16-2003, 12:54 PM
Melissa- I hope that you are feeling better- did you get rid of the headache? Sorry about your little one not cooperating- guess you have a strong willed child in there who is already asserting his/her will!;) Sounds like a healthy baby- moving around and all- and I do hope that he or she feels a little bit more kindly toward Mama next time you try to determine the gender!!!!!!!
And congrats on making it to the halfway point! Your pregnancy has gone quickly also- time flies with such happy news!
Spryng- hope that you are getting lots of water in today! You've had some hot weather in your area - and you really need to drink more water than you think for your health. So, I can nag you about that!;) (lucky you, I nag Jackie about stuff....now it is your turn!) Hope that you are not overdoing it- you have a right to be tired these days!!!
Speaking of Jackie.........and Michele (thanks for reminding me of them, Spryng!) we miss you. Hope that both of you are fine and just busy.
WI went well today- I lost 1.6#- but have now met my 10% initial loss. Next week I meet with the leader to assess my final goal weight. I snuck out for a 20 minute walk this am, before it got too hot.
I'd better go get dinner made to make the rest of this day easier.
Have a great day!
04-16-2003, 01:07 PM
Good morning all!
Ginny I just knew you would have a loss!! Congrats!! WW has been so gret for you! And thanks for nagging be about my water... I know it's important but our tap water is beyond horrible but now that we have gallons of spring water again I am getting my fill. I know with the weather being warm and all that I have to keep my water intake high because of my low blood pressure... so I am being good now. I did get a good nights sleep last night too... had some strange dreams... but nothing scary at least lol. So I feel much better today and I've even got my house cleaned already, now I just need to get some laundry folded and I'm done.
Well, I hope everyone is having a good day. Can't wait to see more posts later!
04-16-2003, 06:19 PM
Ginny~Congratulations on your weigh in and reaching your 10%! You're doing so great!!! I did get rid of that nasty headache finally, I think a lot of it was from stress. I've been having some anxiety attacks over the last week, and I haven't been getting my daily naps in either. I guess I need to stop worrying and go with the flow?
Spryng, aren't you the luckiest! I won't be sleeping on my stomach for a long while yet, what with having the c-section. You're right about the ultrasound~it'll be here before I know it. But I must admit, I am losing sleep over it~so please let time fly! I hope you're getting that water down, and feeling better! Could the lack of water cause BH, cause I've been having a few here and there already? Maybe we need to remind each other to drink up, cause I'm still not getting in as much water as I should, and I know our dear friend Ginny will help with that too! ;)
I did get the next ultrasound scheduled today, it's 3 weeks from today! We decided to go on our own and just private pay, that way we say what gets done. So cross your fingers that our little one will be nice! And since I got that scheduled, I've been feeling more relaxed! So I feel like it was a good decision!
I guess I better get done with my laundry, Dh will be home soon!
Have a nice evening!
04-16-2003, 06:47 PM
I came online to check on Ds's math homework assignment, and of course had to stop by and say hello!!
Melissa- that is great that you now have another appt for a sono. Now, have some chats with that little one, and tell him/her that with Mother's day coming, a really nice present for you would be to stay still during the test!!! (in the right position, of course!)
Oh, and btw....drink your water!
Spryng- good for you getting the laundry folded (as we know you just love that job!) and getting the house straightened up. Take your time.......don't push too hard........you are in the 3rd trimester. Ok? (and drink your water too!!!!)
I'm just ecstatic- all the kiddies are home for Easter break and except for one short run tomorrow pm I am off for over a week!!!!
Woo hoo!!!!!! Guess I had better go get dinner on the table (it is in the oven). See ya tomorrow!
04-16-2003, 07:27 PM
Just got on for a few secs.
Mel, yes lack of water will definitely give you BH contractions. dehydration makes for a irritable uterus. So if you start having alot of BH then drink drink drink and lay down and they should go away. I know that must have been what caused mine because I haven't had any today because of all the water I've drank.
Ginny so glad that your kids are all home and you will have the week off! You deserve it!
Well, got to go!
04-17-2003, 09:49 AM
Ginny, I'm with you, I love whenschool is out, but with our weather days we used, Ds won't even get Good Friday off? As for me having a talk with my little one about the ultrasound, I'm hoping things will work out better this time, since like you said~it'll be only days before Mothers day and it'll also be just 2 days after my birthday! I have a really good feeling about this one though, but I'm going to try not to get myself too worked up over it~I did say TRY!?!
Spryng, Thanks for the water info, and what another great reason to make sure we get our water in!
I got up in such a good and relaxed mood this morning, and I'm thinking about going do a little baby shopping! I've been trying to hold off until after my shower, but I really want to do a little something!!!
Have a good day!
04-17-2003, 12:24 PM
You guys! Thanks for the compliments! But if you saw my face right now.. I have adult acne and it flared really bad... I am on Anti-Biotics (Oral and topical) as well as Retin-A. I feel like a 36 year old Teenager! I am calling a new OB/GYN to see if we can control my Endometriosis in some way other than Hormones... as That is part of my problem with my face...
I am doing well.. we have lots of rain here today and HAIL! I want spring! It is almost Easter and it is still raining! Sigh.. ok.. I feel better now!
I need to run cause I have an appt with the Allergist this morning. My prescrips ran out and I need them!! :)
Talk to you all soon!
04-17-2003, 01:13 PM
Good morning all!
Mel you may want to drink something like orange juice before your next U/S, that will help the baby keep active so you can see all his/her parts too. And another good thing about waiting is that the baby will be bigger and the "parts" more obvious, so you'll get an accurate U/S! But we are excited to hear all about it. Go do some baby shopping!! It won't hurt anything before your shower. Plus it will keep you busy and help pass the time. We are having our huge town wide yard sale this saturday and I plan to get up early and find some great deals on baby things, my shower is may 17 but I'm sure I'll be ok to get some clothes. I really need some anyway. But have fun!
Hi Karen! Sorry to hear about your acne. I know it seems like sucha trivial thing but it's not when you are grown. I've had my share of breakouts with this pregnancy (it's tapered off now) but I wanted to hide my face at first, it was horrible and no amount of cleaning or topical solutions were helping... but I guess my hormones have evened out some and now I don't have as many.
Well anyway.... today I don't plan on doing much. Some light cleaning and alot of resting lol. I hope everyone has a great OP day!
04-17-2003, 05:29 PM
Just a quick hello as I have a bored Dd and I have promised her a short bike ride. Got up early this am to take Dd (16) to school to leave for Florida for a week. She was a bit upset......not too bad though. What really upset her was when she woke up Ds to say goodbye and he actually told her that he loved her and would miss her. (they can fight like cats and dogs....usually do too! )
That choked her up. Other than that- I had to drive for 1 3/4 hours and am now officially done until after Easter break.
Melissa and Spryng- Drink that water!!!!!!!!! Karen- I hope that your visit with the allergist went ok. Funny- I had a Dr appt this am and got allergy meds too!
Have a great day!
04-17-2003, 05:55 PM
Well, I'm happy to say that I did go do a little shopping, and buying is so much more fun than window shopping!!
Thank you for the reminder Ginny, I just fixed myself another big mug of ice cold water! I feel for you, having to see your Dd off for a week, it's hard isn't it!?! My Ds goes to see his grandmother and father during the summer for a couple of weeks, and I miss him like crazy! I hope you get to really enjoy your long holiday, you deserve it!
Spryng, How was your day? I hope you got that rest you were talking about!
I'm feeling pretty good today! After I got back from town, I took a nap to re-energize, and now I'm good to go again!
Good evening ladies!
04-17-2003, 11:28 PM
Good evening all!
Yes Mel I got a nice nap in today. My blood pressure got low again this morning and I felt horrible... had no energy etc. So when the kids went down at 1 pm for their naps I grabbed one too and boy did I need it. I woke up feeling normal again and even cooked dinner and made some brownies. I don't know what caused it to drop today since I didn't do anything different... maybe the baby is sapping it lol. He has been extremely active today, his little butt keeps poking out of my right side... so cute, yet painful! lol. So I know he is doing just fine.
Well, I got to get in bed. I know I got a two hour nap in but come 9 pm and I am exhausted again.... this 3rd trimester fatigue has really taken me over this past week. Hope everyone had a great night.
Jackie, looking forward to hearing about your WW meeting today and your WI!! Please post soon!
Misty, still wishing to hear from you too!
04-18-2003, 10:28 AM
Spryng- sorry to hear that you are not feeling well and that your BP is down. Have you called your midwife about it? I know you probably do not want to be a pain- but this far in the pregnancy maybe they ought to know. Get your rest and take care, ok?
Melissa- great that you got some shopping in and a nap too!!!!
I hope that you are feeling great today. And that you and Spryng are drinking your water!
Dd called last nite just to inform us that they were in NC~ halfway to Florida. I have the gang home today, so I'd better sign off. Have a great day!
04-18-2003, 04:48 PM
I started a new thread- SAHM's # 73. See ya there!!!
