Hi, It's been a while since I started a new thread so I hope that this works. Hi Marnie and welcome to our group. I am in Ohio and it got cold again after all the nice 70 degree days that we were having. The pear and magnolia trees are all in bloom and they are so pretty. All the spring flowers are in bloom too so I hope the cold doesn't hurt them. I am so ready for this. I am at a standstill weighwise. I think I have too many carbs so I am going to try to cut down but not out. I love all that bread and stuff. I got a yoga video that also uses the exercise ball. I like it but occasionally I fall off the ball. Definitely use it only when I am home alone so I don't get laughed at. lol I have to go back to the old thread and see what's going on. Hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Peggy: Thanks for the new thread. 3 pages gets pretty long.Hope you have some more spring weather soon.
Marnie: I don't think I told you about me. I live in Florida, retired music teacher. We live in an adult park and am busy most of the time. Have 6 grown children,(2 mine, 2 my D.H.) 14 combined grandchildren and now 2 GGchildren. Our blended family has worked very well. Love the Florida weather.
Karen: I'm sure that things will work out for your Dad. We'll remember him and your Mom and you in our prayers. I know a gentlemen here where we live, who had the same problem, had a colostomey(sp) and is doing well, and this was about 4 or 5- years ago. It always seems that the person who is having the surgery is cooler about it that all the relatives. God will take care of him.
Hi everyone. We just got home from a concert done by an Over 55 Jazz Band. They were really good, and played all the good old ballads. The songs were all either by Gershwin or Mancini. A fun afternoon.
Hope your weekend was good. Tomorrow we are going on a mystery cruise, lunch and theater, where the diners get involved in the play. Never been to one like this, so am looking forward to it. I'll report later. Ann

G'day all,
I am still in New Zealand and having a great time.
We arrived in the South Island last Saturday. This is the most magnificent country side I have ever seen.
We stayed the last 2 nights at a little village 'Franz Josef', it is at the foot of the Franz Josef Glacier. Unbelievable to wake up in the morning to the sight of snowcapped mountains on your door step. We took a helicopter ride yesterday morning around the mountains and it landed near one of the glaciers for 30 minutes or so before taking off again. Words cannot describe how magnificent it was. We also did lots of walking and I now have bad blisters. DH has gone on a 4 hour hike on the glaciers this morning, it is a magnificent day, I am sure he will really enjoy it.
I notice the previous post went for 3 pages, I will go back and have a read until my money runs out. This internet terminal you have to 'feed' with change/.
Also noticed we have a new member Marnie, welcome!
Slavika I just have to say how pleased we are not to be in a motorhome, the motels we have stayed at have been great and when I see people in Motorhomes I think to myself I am so pleased I can have a comfortable shower etc.
I have also talked dh into another little project, I use the 'loo' 1001 times :D per day and I am always on the look out to find a ladies. DH is to take a photo of every 'comfort' stop. Initially he thought it was quite funny but he now feels a bit strange loitering outside the ladies toilets taking photographs;) :dizzy: :D
Hope you are all well, healthy and happy.
We should be arriving home in Australia next Wednesday week.
Cheers :grouphug:
Maria
PS Lily website impressive, will ask you a few questions about it when I have more time, GREAT JOB!

Peggy: I have an exercise ball to. Its quite comical to watch me
Im so un-coordinated! But I kepp trying!
Ann: The mystery cruise sounds fun. Let us know how it goes!
Maria: Its sounds so pretty. I do hope to go there some day. Sounds like you are having an awesome time!
Looks like it is getting back to spring again. Wonder how long it will last this time :)

Good morning all: Our mystery cruise was great fun and a lovely day on the water. I have to brag a bit - I picked the perpetrator of the crime. Of course several others did, and so all those names were put in a hat for prize drawings. Alas! I did not get a prize, but it was just enough to know that I guessed the murderer.:D:
Today will be a busy day. All sorts of afternoon apointments, the best of which will be a massage. I do look forward to those.
After all the eating I did yesterday I have to hang my head in shame. After the cruise, and lovely lunch, we were taken out for dinner for my dh's birthday. But I was so full from lunch I made my dinner a cup of soup and a shrimp cocktail. But the scales this a.m. were not kind to me. :p I think a little magic subtraction would be lovely:D: Just a wild dream.
Have a great day. Ann

Hopefully this will work. Karen alerted me to the fact that a new thread had begun (Thank you Karen!) I just cut and pasted this post from an earlier thread - sorry. Still in learning stage!
Whew! Just read all the posts from March 22nd.
Thank you all for such newsy posts. I think I have all your names now: Lily, Peggy, Karen, Ann, Slavika, Maria, Glenda, Trudy, Jenye and me. Did I forget anyone? Hope not.
Is there a newsletter we receive? I know I get something from WW each Monday, but rarely read them - I just store them in a folder with every intention of getting back to them! Anyway, I read about an oat & apricot bar that sounded good. Does someone have that recipe?
Monday is my weigh-in day. I really thought I was going to be up yesterday, but low and behold, I was down 2.2 lbs!
I agree that Atkins is not the way to go. My husband is doing it right now, and he has lost close to 30 lbs. I believe he misses the carbohydrates - especially big salads. We'll have to wait and see what the "jury" says. I know I have to eat less carbohydrates: especially sugar and white flour. I believe they increase my appetite.
I like the point system at WW. Somewhere in the 1980s I got my "Lifetime" gold key, and then proceeded to pack it all back on. I am so determined to get it off once and for off. I do have periods of "poor me" your can't have as much of that as you would like, but basically I know it is a program I can live with. I will rely on help from Karen and Lily as I understand you are both involved in the organization. From time to time I've thought it would be good to be a lecturer or a weigher, just to keep me close to the program (not to mention the scale).
I know I'm rambling, but wanted to thank you again for the nice welcome. I am married to Jerry and the mother of Zach (25 years); I work part-time as a legal secretary in a small law firm in downtown St. Paul, MN.
That said, I hope you all have a great day and week.

Marnie good morning.
The recipe for the "Oat and Apricot Breakfast Bar" came from a WW Newsletter a couple of weeks ago. You can register online and receive their newsletter free of charge in your email every week. This isreally a nice recipe except that I don't like apricots so I substituted other dried fruit for it, (like raisins and cranberries) To register for the newsletter just go to:
www.weightwatchers.com
OAT AND APRICOT BREAKFAST BARS
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup uncooked quick oats
15 pieces dried apricot halves diced
2 tbsp sunflower seeds
1 tbsp reduced-calorie margerine, melted
1/2 cup fat free egg substitute
Instructions:
1. Preheat over to 350. Coat 8" square baking pan with cooking spray
2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, oats, apricots and sunflower seeds.
3. Whisk together margarine and egg substitute. Quickly mix together wet and dry ingredients. Spoon into prepared pan and smooth top.
4. Bake until firm, about 20 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into 8 rectangles. Yields 1 bar per serving.

points per serving 3
Marnie: I dust the top of the bar wirth icing sugar when it has cooled. I hope you like it. Slavika

Ann: Thats great you picked the perpetrator! But ALAS, no prize? How sad :)
I wanna go with you to the Massage. I love them! Havent been in a while.
Marnie: I dont think 3FC has a newsletter. Not really sure on that. Congrats on your loss! 2.2 is super!
I would miss Carbs to. Im actually trying to cut back on them right now. I think Im getting way to many from looking at my Journals. Could never live with out them tho. Sounds like your DH is doing good tho.
Best get to work.

Maria you sound like you are on a dream trip. How nice and how funny for your dh to lurk outside the ladies rooms. Are you going to post the best of the pictures? Marnie you had a good loss. Ann what fun you had with your mystery cruise. I want to go on a mystery weekend up at Lake Erie this summer. You always do the funnest things. Slavika thanks for posting the recipe. It sounds a little too good to me. Can you stop at one? I ran across a chicken recipe that sounded good. I will have to find it. Lily we should get together and see who can fall off the ball the most. I sure would die of embarrassment if I had to go to the er with an exercise ball mishap. lol I have to baby sit for my nieces kids tomorrow. I think we will make cookies-that should make a mess and keep them busy for a short time. They are bringing their dog too. Oh joy! The gas co is going to turn off the furnace for a short time while they do some more street work. Hoping that it isn't too cold. They will probably want to play in the construction sand mountain that is on the side of our house. You could lose people in that mess. Gotta run,

Wow. It has been kind of a long time since I have had the time to check on you guys. Hope everyone is doing okay. We almost have spring here today, but, of course, only yesterday the weathermen were calling for a freeze. How can we still have winter? Still wearing winter clothes on April 10th!
Marnie, so glad you have decided WW is the way to go. I have this feeling, even though I am not at goal, that if you have more than 10 pounds to lose, you need to lose it slowly so that you can stay on the program. Being on a specialty diet is okay for a short while, but over the long haul we just need everything, a really balanced diet. I tell you, if I am on a diet that says I can have everything but lettuce, I would crave lettuce.
We have been so caught up in the war. The atrocities we have heard of lately just mystify me--how can anyone be that evil? Those poor people!
Anne, no wonder you are so busy at your park. I had forgotten (if I ever knew) that you had been a music teacher. That is why you are in charge of so many things. I did horrible in math in school, but I thought you said you had 6 grown children, 2 for you and 2 for DH. Isn't that just 4?
I hope we are all starting the spring weather. Must be a reason Easter is so late this year.
Maria - hiking on a gracier! Your life is so exciting! My exotic life is about walking on a sidewalk around a lake.
Enough of my exciting life.

and say hello:wave: And to let you all know what is going on with my Father. The tumor is cancer but the good news is it is all contained in one spot. That means it can be removed and every thing will still work when they get done :cp: The surgery has not been set yet. He has to see the urologist first, then all will happen very quickly. All of my Dads brothers and sisters are back in the state from wintering in TX and AZ. And all have phoned and talked with him. I'm glad they are all back it makes dad feel better when all are in the same place:goodvibes . He is the oldest now. What a difference a week makes. I'm back to being a optomist(?) again.
The weather has been beautiful here. It looks like the snow and cold are gone:crossed: Yesterday I was out raking leaves for a while and even enjoyed that. This is the time of year that I love. No BUGS and NO SWEATY STICKY WEATHER .
I'm going to the spring staff meeting today. It should be interesting to see if all I've been reading about the program changes is true. And it is alway fun to see and talk to other Weight Watcher employees. Even my Bosses, Boss will be there. (did I say that right )
Got to get dress. Talk to you guys later:wave:

Karen: That is such great news! The surgery will not be fun thats for sure. But at least it is in one spot and they can get it. But at least he wont have to have one of those bag things. Is he going to have to have chemo or radiation also when its done? Sometimes they do that also.
Have fun at the staff meeting. Its a good one!
Glenda: Spring is never going to come I have decided! It was wonderful here for 2 days and now the rain is back. Dont think I will ever get to work in my yard. The rain always comes on the weekends of course!
Later!

Karen I am glad that you got good news about your dad. That has to lighten your heart. Does it get hot and sweaty in Minn in the summer? For some reason I thought it stayed cool. Glenda your life sounds as exotic as mine. This is another exciting Sat eve. lol Have to live through Maria. Maria so glad that you are enjoying your stay in NZ. Sure does beat India. We did a walk this morning for ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. A neighbor lost her husband to this 2 years ago and only expected about 100 people to show up. She had almost 900 and the day was beautiful and sunny. It was for 2 miles through the neighborhood and was a good time. Of course the pastries from Panera and Krispy Kreme at the end helped. Have to go finish a book that is due at the library. See I told you it was an exciting Sat eve.

We too have exciting weekends- T.V. the computer or reading. I just got the most recent Left Behind book Armageddon. Can't put it down. The bad part is that the conclusion of the series won't come out until next April.

Hi all,
Marnie I did get a preview of the new program but we were all asked to keep it under our hat:sssh: It is not written in stone yet so things could still change. We'll just all have to wait and see my lips are sealed:tape: I did get to see a preview of some new exercise tape that i can start ordering later this month. You will be able to buy them one tape at a time or in a set of 3 at a saving of about $5.00. Don't have my price list here.
Thanks to all with the good wishes for my Dad. We will all be happy when all is done.
We are planing easter dinner at my Daughters. She is again thrilled to be able to have the whole family there.
Went shopping yesterday bought 2 pair of the capri pants with matching tops and then 2 skorts with matching tops. A couple of my meeting room have no A/C so need somethings that I can get away with out pantyhose. I bought a couple of long dress last year that will work well this year. Now I just have to find the time to apply the sunless tan stuff .
Peggy Krispy Kreme:T I love those things.
Found a new food treat at Cub yesterday they are called French Twists they are wonderful. They come in about 5 or 6 different flavor. What they are is a pastry type twist coated with the flavor. 1 point per twist. Non Dairy,No butter,No cholesterol,no eggs,no yeast, and low sodium They are from Barry's Bakery.
Isn't it great new about the 7 U.S. service people that were found today . Was so happy to see they were all in pretty good shape.
Well go a ton of stuff to do. My grandaughter stayed the ningt last night but even at 11 they can make a mess.
See you later:wave:

Karen new clothes are always exciting. It is so nice to be starting to wear lighter clothes. Tired of bundling up. Those treats you found sound good. I don't know if they carry that brand around here. It doesn't sound familiar. Marnie good luck on your weigh in. I bet you lost. Ann I am behind in the Left Behind series. My sister just talked to me about being glued to the tv seeing the POW's get rescued. I told her I watched just a little and saw them get into a truck about 20 times. I am just thrilled and surprised they are okay. I bet all of us mothers, when we saw their young scared faces in that first film clip, saw our own kids and worried about how terrified they must be. Good ending.
This weekend we got our photo album with all the pictures from our renewal service from our son and his wife. She is the art teacher. They did such a good job of putting sweet sayings, like "People shop for a bathing suit with more care than they do a husband or wife. The rules are the same....find one you'll be comfy with and allow room for growth." These little sayings were throughout the pictures and the album has just made me cry. Sure brings back that day and its happiness. One that fit me is "A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person."
Karen, so there are going to be changes. I am going to WW for sure this week and getting with the program. After seeing my double chin in these pictures, I have a little motivation.
Hope spring is springing where you are. Slavika, Trudy, where are you?

:grouphug: Hi Everybody
Sorry I have been a bit of stranger. I come and read but never seem to have enough time to "talk". The other BIG reason is my life is exciting as dishwater these days. :D
KAREN....I am happy that the news about your Dad was so positive. I bet the whole family is feeling so much better now. :)
When you mentioned ALL the stuff that was NOT in the treat "French Twist" I wondered what it was actually made of. :s:
MARNIE.....I hope you were pleased with your weigh in at WW today. Let us know how you did.
PEGGY......the cigar box purse my friend bought in Maui and shipped to me (on March 14) finally arrived today. She ships home a lot of the things but this really took a long time. Remember I said the purse cost $93.00 US, well I don't think it was actually made from a cigar box. The wood is much nicer then the stuff used in cigar boxes, although DH said some boxes are actually very nice.
This one is has a thin "wood" or "cardboard" panel that has been covered in a tangerine coloured suede type fabric with printing on it, and glued to both the front and the back of the purse. The front panel fabric was then decorated with all kinds of beads and sequins glued to the shape of the words. The handle has a stiff frame (like a clothes hanger) with wood beads threaded on it. The inside of the purse has been lined in black suede. My friend is going to give it to her dil at Christmas and I think she will really like it. It is very different. My dil told me she was at a craft sale that was selling little purses made out of different decorative tins with lids on them. She said they were very cute and very pricey. :spin: Spring is finally sort of here. We had people out to do our yard work and everything looks so much nicer now, that all the winter dead leaves and pine needles from under the trees and shrubs are gone. The grass although not really green yet looks better. I have been trying hard to stay on program and exercising on the treadmill. Having MARNIE join our group added to my trying a little harder. ANN.......I did try reading the "Left Behind" series, but never got any further then 1/2 way through the first book. I just didn't like the main characters in the book, and couldn't get into the story. I passed it on to my friend (the one that was in Maui) and she read my book and then got all the rest of the series that was available and really enjoyed them. At that time could hardly wait for the next book to come out.
Talk to you all soon.

Hi all: Marnie- hope you had a good weigh-in. At this stage I don't want to go. I certainly haven't been up to even thinking about a weight loss challenge. And I'm the one who mentioned it.
Slavika: Try the books again. Once you get into them they are really fascinating, and certainly do give you a graphic picture of most of the book of Revelation. I have finished this one, and now passed it on to a friend. Of course the next and last one will be the most exciting, I believe that it will be called The Glorious Appearing.
Glenda: Your album sounds wonderful and what a nice keepsake for a special day.
Karen: I think the exercise tapes sound like a great idea.
We have been having some lovely spring weather here. Not too hot. Just pleasant. Time for bed. Ann

Hi all: Here I come to brag!!! Yes! 3 good things at weigh-in yesterday: 1) I moved out of the 180s; 2) I got my 20lb star; and 3) I got my first 10%. Of course I'm elated. I appreciate your interest and support.
We had a whirlwind day: 2 Drs appointments, a trip to the Mall of America (WW of course), and then we went to a steak house for dinner (Nick & Tony's). I did well - I think I ended up with 27 points exactly and I had a few banked to use so I was in clover.
Karen: Thanks for a little "sneak" preview of the new upcoming program. I am envious of your new clothes. Isn't great to know you can fit into smaller sizes! I will be on the lookout for the French Twists. I had a Blue Bunny ice cream last night - it reminded me of the old Dreamscicles. I've never tried a Krispy Kreme yet. We're just starting to get them here in MN.
Peggy and Ann: Can you clue me in on the "Left Behind" series? Not familiar with them.
Glenda: Your photo album sounds priceless. Love the quotes you posted. How great to have such a memory book.
Slavika: I've been to Oahu twice, but have never encoutered the cigar box purses. They sound intriguing. Maybe they're a Maui thing. I did get some of the Hawiian fabric when I was there. I never see the patterns in our fabric stores.
I'll check back later. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Karen: Sounds like you got some good bargins. New clothes is always nice. The French Twists sounds wonderful will have to look for them. I do get something like that AT TJ's but its a different brand name. Love them. Think mine are 2 points so will have to look for these. Cant beat 1 point!
Glenda: Your photo album sounds wonderful! What great quotes. Lots of great memories of your renewal vows!
Slavika: That purse sounds very nice. I think you should tell her it never arrived
Ann: I saw a preview of the exercise tapes and they looked pretty good to me. Go in different levels as to what you want. So should be nice.
Marnie: WOO HOO! Congrats! Thats awesowe you got your 10% and 20 pounds gone for ever to! Congrats! You should be elated! Your doing great!

Good for you!!!!
The cigar box purses actually are not really in Hawaii yet. They are kind of new out and many gals are now making them and selling them at Craft Shows. My friend was in Maui and I asked her to check the Craft shows there, but nobody was selling them. She bought this one at one of the shops in a nice Maui Hotel. You can take a look at them if you like by going to "ebay" on the internet. The prices range anywhere from $25.00 and up depending on the quality and the design of the purse. Probably by next winter you will be seeing them Hawaii and other resort areas.
GLENDA I forgot to mention that I thought your "memory album" sounded nice too. I loved the sayings that were put in. :)
I better get going, I'm having the gals in for tea today.

Marnie - what a wonderful day you had and it will just keep getting better. I am looking forward to going back on Saturday and getting back in the right frame of mind.
All, today is my birthday. I have flowers on my desk with a balloon that says, "I DEMAND A RECOUNT!" And I do. Today I am 59 and I feel just wonderful, (but fat). I remember when I celebrated my 50th at work, we had cake and I was so sick I couldn't stay the whole day at work. It took 6 weeks to diagnose ovarian cancer and that road has been quite a trip to travel. But I am alive and feel wonderful and I know how blessed I am to be here after 9 years. You all are a big part of my support system and I thank you. Today I am thanking those who are important in my life for being there.

MARNIE
Hi there. Sometimes "computer nerds" like our Lily and Maria :D explain things to us about the computer assuming we "already" know lots of stuff. LOL, in my case this is not true. :?:
A very long time ago I needed help with this "color" thing ( on our old board) and Lily did her level best to teach me. Finally, I think out frustration she told me do the following. I saved her instructions and now I will share them with you and you can give it a try.
For example: When I decided I would type your name in BLUE this is what I did......
1. Click on the bar that says COLOR that is located just above the box that you type your message in.
2. Then click on the color of your choice.
3. Notice a window (a rectangle shaped box) opens up that is called "Explorer User Prompts" (I have absolutely no idea what that means) hee hee :p
In the white space of the box do this: type in a bracket [ small letter b ,then another bracket ] then type in a name another bracket [ then a slash / then the letter b, then the closing bracket] Like this:
[b] Marnie [/sml b]
You understand you just put in the letter b but not the word sml.
Gosh Marnie I hope I haven't made it more confusing for you.
Give it a try. Night.

Glenda Happy Happy Birthday!! And it is certainly a wonderful anniversary of freedom for you also. Hope you day has been special.:gift: :hat: :balloons:
Marnie: :bravo: :cp: You are inspiring me to do better. About the Left Behind series. They are a series of fictional accounts of what happens after the Christians have been raptured off the earth. Hence the name Left Behind. There are many characters developed who are dealing with a completely changed life. They deal with all the plagues, etc described in the Book of Revelation. The Appearance of the Anti-Christ, etc. I have enjoyed the whole series. The most recent one is called Armageddon. There will be one more, and I believe the title will be "The Glorious Appearing" That will complete the series. They have given me a much better understanding of Revelation, as well as being very exciting fiction. Sometimes a bit scary. They could make some very great special effects type movies. They have made a film based on the first book.
Lily: I'm looking forward to the excercise tapes. Have any idea about the cost? I've started to go back to the pool now and try to spend about an hour swimming and walking and doing some aerobic exercises.
Slavika: Have you tried any more new teatime recipes? What are you doing special for Easter? How many #s shall we try to drop by June 1st?
Maria: I am sure you are enjoying all your traveling. I am looking forward to your travelogue when you get back home.
Peggy: How far have you read in the series?
Hi Trudy: Hope all is well with you.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE :chockiss:

Glenda-Happy Birthday. Eat some cake for me. :T So glad that all is well with your health. You know the saying we're not getting older , we're getting better. I think it applys here. :grouphug:
Marnie. Can you beleive this weather. Had to cancel a meeting in Alexandria this afternoon. The drive home was scary. But am glad I was driving in the light. I may have to cancel meetings tomorrow too. Depends on what the road conditions computer tell me in the morning.
Ann, Here in MN we will be selling the tapes for 29.95 for the set of 3 and if you buy them one by one they will be 12.95.
Slavika, Look at you giving puter lessons. Who would have guess it a few years ago?:cp: You are now a nerd just like Lily and Maria. :)
Have a nice night all

g'day all,
I just arrived home late yesterday. Lovely to be home but hate the unpacking
Haven't had a chance to read all the post but did notice Marnie having a great weight loss and Glenda's birthday.
Hope to soon be 'talking' to you all again on a regular basis.
Cheers for now
Maria

[b] Slavika [/ b] Did I do it?
If not, I'll try again later. Anyway, thanks for trying to help me out.
Ann, thanks for the update on the "Left Behind" series - never heard of the but will try to get them at the library. (PS: I can't imagine me inspiring anyone, but thanks!)
Karen, I hate to tell you, but we did not get the snow! We got rain, thunder and lightning, but no snow. Sorry about "Up North." Rochester usually gets the brunt.
Maria, WELCOME HOME! I love the picture on your posts. I'll have to look for something a little more original.
I'll check in later. Marnie
PS: Glenda, did you have a nice birthday?

I'm just out of the shower but had to check 3FC to see if you had posted. I am sitting here at my computer wearing only a bath towel. Trust me Marnie this is not a pretty sight. :D :yikes:
