I would love to hear something about the power 90 workout videos (be it good or bad). I want to order them SO bad, but am afraid of it being a scam!!!! (I know that anything that sounds too good to be true usually is...but...I want something that works!)
I am the world's worst at sticking to a diet. I HAVE to exercise to lose any significant weight, and I am having a hard time finding anything suited for me. I like the WATP tapes, but I need a little more. I tried the FIRM tapes, but they are hard on my knees.
(Can you tell I'm a television infomercial addict???? haha) The Pilates videos don't seem to have any cardiovascular in them?
Anyway, now you know why I'm skeptical about spending more money on workout videos. I can't go to a gym, and really need to exercise at home. PULEASE, PULEASE, PUUUULLEEEAAASSSEEE pass your advice on to me! I will appreciate ANY you can give me!
Thanks in advance!!!

I have tried the power 90 videos and they do work.... they are a good workout and nothing scammy about them.... you use weights or bands on one video and increase the weight as you go.... you use this video every other day and then you have a video that is cardio that you also do every other day....
They are good tapes you just have to actually use them..... I dont understand why they dont work sitting in the drawer :)
Also - when you purchase them they will try to push some pills that they are selling I would avoid those.
04-14-2003, 02:41 PM
Thank you SO much for the advice. I actually ordered the system about a week ago (they haven't arrived yet) I did not purchase the pills, but I did get a set of resistance bands off of ebay.
I was kind of surprised more people hadn't tried this system on here!
Now if I can take MINE out of the box when they get here....and actually USE them....lol.
Thanks again. I appreciate the input.

Good Luck on them!!!!
04-27-2003, 12:37 AM
Hi there. :)
I bought the Power90 program, but did not buy the supplements. I followed Weight Watcher points program, instead of doing the suggested diet (many of the foods they suggest you eat to 'carve your physique' were not things I'd eat!) I was lucky, had a great, motivated partner who was ready to do this every day with me.
We finished the first 90 days without missing a single day, either of us. I lost a total of 22 lbs, which I was disappointed with at first, until I realized that I had achieved something more valuable ... I had a WAIST for the first time in YEARS! I lost a total of 23" (7 of those inches were from my waist!) I had muscle tone and two cans out of a six pack on my abs! ;)
Having been overweight for most of my life, and never in very good shape, I can't tell you had exciting this was, not to mention how it makes you feel like you should be a spokesperson for the program! I had more energy than ever before in my life and I was proud of what I achieved. This program also helps you with your posture because you find yourself throwing back your shoulders and standing proud. :)
Now, how have I done with maintaining these wonderful results?
After completing the first 90 days I suffered a work-related injury and wasn't allowed to exercise for almost a year. Gradually, the weight snuck back on. :( However, I still have the waist, and I know the muscles I built up are there, simply buried under this layer of fat.
I am getting ready to begin the program again and because I know it works, it will provide me with additional motivation I am sure I will need, because I know I will have some pain in the beginning due to muscles that haven't been worked for almost a year now.
I wish you much success, and can offer you this advice: Do the measurements and take the pictures, even if, no, ESPECIALLY if, you don't want to! They will truly motivate you and keep you going during the times you want to quit. Best of luck! :)
04-27-2003, 01:39 AM
Just wanted to thank you for the input. I have (reluctantly) taken the front, side, and back pics...(groan) and am still waiting for the dang tapes to get here! I hope I have the success you did. I know in my head that ANY kind of steady exercise will benefit...it's just those darn infomercials! lol
Thanks again and luck with the fresh start!
04-29-2003, 01:33 PM
Let me know how the tapes work for you. I too have "the firm" tapes & they are so hard on my knees... I also have Leslie Sansone tapes & Tae-Bo. I guess I"m always looking for that "wonder tape"...
Let me know how they work for you!
04-29-2003, 02:47 PM
I still have not received my tapes. (Guess I should have used express mail!) I know what you mean by the 'wonder tapes". I always think "If I only had THOSE tapes, I will be thin..." (I'm such a sucker!) I'll keep ya posted.
04-30-2003, 01:37 PM
We'll I didn't want to admit it, but I also have been know to buy the latest exercise eqpt. I have bought items, & tell myself If i don't use it in the next two weeks i'm taking it back. Unfortunately you really can't return tapes.
Let me know how it goes... Looking at the info, I keep thinking that is the one for me.
04-30-2003, 02:08 PM
You and me both, Patty...
Instead on my name being "Coachs_wife" I should have used "Infomercial Queen". I'll keep you posted.
05-14-2003, 01:56 PM
Have you received the tapes yet? How are they?
05-14-2003, 02:15 PM
Funny...I received my tapes day before yesterday. I just did open them up this morning and I was viewing them before I actually tried them. They don't look too bad, except they do alot of lunges which is hard on my knees. The good part is that they are SHORT. I LIKE that I only have to do this for 30 minutes a day. I will let you know after I actually begin though. I guess I will try and start them tomorrow. (groan) haha
05-19-2003, 07:17 PM
Just thought I"d update ya. I started the Power 90 program this morning, and it was really okay! 30 minutes is nothing compared to most other workout tapes that are so much longer! And it wasn't too hard either. They do several push-ups which I couldn't finish....and the lunges were much easier than on the Firm because you do them so slowly, and you don't do but a few reps at a time. Anyway, I didn't think I had gotten much of a workout (what...only 30 minutes???? lol) but now it is 12 hours later, and I'm feeling a bit sore!
I'll try and keep you posted...after all, this is only day 1. (ugh)
05-20-2003, 08:58 AM
CoachsWife--I was glad to read your "review" of the Power 90 workout.
Did you do the fast? (I've read there is a 2 day fast suggested). I don't know if I could do it. I get lightheaded if I don't eat breakfast!
I'll be looking forward to further reports from you.
Thanks to everyone for your input. I have just ordered the DVDs myself and was wondering what people thought.
05-20-2003, 01:24 PM
Just wanted to touch base and let you know what I'm doing. I did not do the fast, nor did I purchase the supplements. I really researched those two things and found that I, personally, did not need that right now. I, too, need to eat in order not to feel weak, plus I have talked to tons of people who are doing fine without the fast or the supplements. I take a multivitamin everyday (regular over-the-counter Centrum) because I don't always get the reccommended veggies and fruits I need a day. There's a good article someone posted on the site about how we overuse vitamins and supplements these days. I have talked to 2 women who have both lost over 100lbs with power 90 and neither of them purchased the supplements or did the fast.
I'm on day 2...and I'm SORE! lol Didn't think 30 minutes of exercise could affect so many different parts of my body! lol I'll try and keep you posted....my main concern is being able to stick with it...wish me luck!
Anyway, hope this helps!
05-20-2003, 02:17 PM
Just got the DVDs this morning! I'm impressed, since I'm in Canada. I still have to preview the DVDs and read over the booklets. But I am excited!
I eat pretty well already; mostly what I eat is from the top 3 tiers of Michi's Ladder, with the odd splurge with stuff from the bottom tiers. I have to be more consistant with my water (some days I get lots, some days not enough) and I have to really make sure to get in my veggies and fruits.
Right now, I don't think I'd mind being a little sore from a workout. The end result will be worth it. I need to stick with the exercising also. I tend to go for a couple of weeks of doing well and then back on the couch I'm parked:lol:
Well, I'm off to look at those workouts! Maybe I can get one in today too.
Maybe we can cheer each other on in this quest, and any others doing this Power 90?!!!
Bye for now!
05-20-2003, 08:48 PM
Okay Zanne...let me know when you do the Cardio/Abs...I'm anxious to see what you think!!! hahahaHOHOHO (OW...it hurts to laugh....)
05-20-2003, 09:49 PM
Hi everyone! I'm glad I happened up on this thread. I just recently ordered the "Power Half Hour" tapes...by the same company and people of Power90 but a "reduced" version. I think I read that the guy studied all the tapes and exercises on them for a year and condensed them into this shorter program. This one is for 6 weeks rather than 90 days. I had been wondering if these exercises really worked as well as they're advertised to do and from the posts here, I feel like I've probably chosen a good program to start with. My tapes arent here yet....should be in the next 2 days. I did get aggravated tho. I was so anxious to get them that I didnt pay in two installments, I paid the whole thing upfront, had it automatically debited from my checking account which was supposed to insure their arrival within 10-12 days. Well, it has been over 20 days!! I called twice and finally last nite emailed with a strong complaint. I was shocked that within 5 minutes, I had a reply complete with apology and note that they were sending another set FedEx 2nd day. If they actually did that, I should have them this week for sure. I cant wait! I'll check in after I've done a session or two. :)
05-21-2003, 07:18 AM
Miki!--I've read that the Power Half Hour tapes are a good lead up to the Power 90 program. Bummer that you've had problems receiving your order. I rec'd mine in less than 2 weeks. I did have to email several times to check up on the order, but I always rec'd an email within 12 hours with satisfactory answers. I hope you get your tapes really soon! You, CoachsWife and myself will have started within a few days of each other.
CoachsWife--We just previewed the workouts last night; didn't get a chance to do a workout. I think I'm going to really like this program. It will be difficult, but worth it! I am oh so flabby. Today is the circuit, so I won't be able to let you know what I think of the cardio/abs till tomorrow.
Maybe we can call ourselves the POWER GIRLS. Whadda ya think?
05-21-2003, 11:00 AM
I am curious about the power half tapes myself. I read about them but decided to choose the power 90 instead, mainly because of their popularity. Keep us updated on how they are!
Zanne, I can't wait to hear what you think of the cardio/abs tape. hahahha I'm tellin' ya, I was ready to jump through the screen and kill Tony...lol.
I think Power girls is a great name! Maybe we can keep each other motivated better, eh!
Gotta run...it's day 3....and not feeling quite as sore today. (Thank goodness!)
05-21-2003, 11:28 AM
Well, I finished the circuit training about an hour ago. WOW! I was quite surprised at how quickly that half hour flew by! I managed to do all the reps for most everything. I did the girl pushups, but I could do them that way. I'll work my way up to the full push up. I don't feel too bad--YET! I actually feel invigorated.
When I previewed the workouts last night, I thought the circuit would be the more difficult one for me. But we'll see what tomorrow brings with cardio and abs:^:
Bye for now!
05-21-2003, 03:10 PM
Wasn't that great? 30 minutes and you're DONE with day 1! I'll say it again, I can't wait until you try tomorrows'. I'm anxious to see how you like the power yoga!! lol
Keep pushing play!!! I will try to also!
05-21-2003, 09:46 PM
Thanks for the welcome, and I've love to be one of the "Power Girls". I am so hoping that this will be just what I need! I walk alot but I need so much more than just that, and I need a program. I'm not good at just motivating myself without something planned out. My sis is going to do it with me so she'll keep me on track. It'll also help to know I am accountable here too.
05-21-2003, 11:39 PM
Can't wait to hear how the Power half hour works! I can't imagine that it would be a whole lot different than Power 90? They are only about 30 minutes also...wonder what the difference is? Hope you get your tapes soon! Let's POWER UP, girls! ahahahaha
Check in soon,
05-22-2003, 08:58 AM
I haven't yet done the cardio workout. But this morning I feel a little sore in the shoulders. I was only using little weights too. 3 and 5 pounders. I'll get stonger:strong: I'm hoping the cardio will help stretch out the soreness.
Miki--that's great that your sis will be doing it with you. My DH is supposed to be doing it with me. He came home yesterday and stuff was happening and he didn't get a chance to workout (I had done mine in the morning). Now I'm looking at it as a compitition:s: You'll have to tell us more about the Power Half Hour program! Is there anything you can start doing till your tapes come? Have you browsed the BeachBody site? Lots of info there.
Kristin--I will definately let you know how things went with the cardio! How are you doing with the eating program?
Ok Power Girls! I'm outta here for now.
05-22-2003, 02:21 PM
Just checking in...did my day 4 this morning...not as bad as before. (I'm still hating power yoga...GRRR!!!! lol ) Susanne, the only thing I'm really doing as far as my eating goes is I cut out the junk food (I'm a junk food-a-holic...candy, chips, pop, etc.) and I try to just eat until I'm satisfied. I didn't want to start out trying to power exercise and diet all at the same time. I'm the kind of person that will burn out quick doing all that at once.
SO..we will see what happens at day 30, then I'll decide if I need to moderate my eating more.
Well..I'm off to the dentist! Chat soon!!!
05-22-2003, 04:08 PM
Ok, I just finished the cardio workout! That Power Yoga is REALLY hard!!! So is the ab work. When I previewed the workouts, I thought this would be the easy one. For me doing it, it's the opposite--the weights are easier. That plank into the upright dog is the worst! But we'll get better at this yoga! I love the kickboxing stuff--especially the punches. I have to take it easy with the kicks--I kept hearing my hips "pop". It really is a good workout tho. I really like that there are no silly dance type moves.
I'm finding more and more thru today that I am sore from yesterday's workout. I'll be doing something and my muscles hurt a little. A least I know I worked this body.
I still have to take my "before" pics. Rather, I will have to ask DH to take the pics. Don't have a digital camera, so I feel sorry for the poor person who will have to develop them!
Miki--hope I'm not scaring you off from your program! It sounds awful, but I really have enjoyed the workouts. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too.
Kristin--I guess I'm 2 days behind you, but at least we're doing the same workout on the same days.
Ok, gotta get moving. My son has an early soccer game.
Talk @ y'all later!
05-22-2003, 06:41 PM
I was laughing the whole time I was reading your post, Susanne. Mainly because I felt the same way! hhaha. I'll tell you though, Day 2 was the worst for me. I started losing the soreness on Day 3, and now that it's day 4, I only feel a little sore in couple of places. I took my day 1 pics...and they are posted in the power 90 gallery if you want to check them out. My name on there is basically the same...it's ima_coachs_wife on there. I weigh a WHOLE lot more than you do...you will see that when you look at my pics.
Anyhoo, MikiG, can't wait til you get your tapes. Tomorrow, right? Let us know!
Talk to you power girls soon!
05-22-2003, 10:05 PM
Grrrrrrrrr...I still havent received my tapes!! I did walk 4 miles in an hour this morning tho and for 2 of those, I carried a 3 lb weight in each hand. I think I MIGHT possibly finally hit under the 200 mark tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed for me! I've fluctuated between 200.5 and 205 for weeks now but I've really stayed on track this week with exercise and with food so we'll see. I havent been under 200 in YEARS!! I'm getting jealous that ya'll are all getting into your Power90 workout and Im still waiting. I just cant wait to get started. If I dont get them tomorrow, SOMEBODY is gonna wish I had. (probably my poor family..they're sick of hearing me gripe about it..lol )
05-22-2003, 11:06 PM
Hey, I wouldn't be too upset about not getting to start the beachbody stuff yet! FOUR miles in 2 hours?? That's FANTASTIC!! And with weights too...wow...I certainly could NOT do that!!! You should be thrilled!! I can't wait until I get under 200...it's been a LOOOONNGGG time for me too...(ugh). I have a long way to go though. Don't know if you've gotten on the beachbody site, but my pics are posted there. (I did the day 1 pics in the picture gallery...NOT a pretty site!!! EW!)
Just keep doing what you're doing. The exercise you're getting now is still great!
We will still be here when you're tapes arrive (I hope! lol) so hang in there! Power girls rule...hahaha
Ciao for now
05-23-2003, 06:58 AM
Oh boy, are my legs sore from yesterday! That's ok. I'm still looking forward to doing today's workout. Hmmm, that sounds funny--that I'm WANTING to exercise! DH still hasn't started--wonder if he will. I told him the cardio was harder than the weights and he didn't believe me. He thought the cardio looked easier too.
Miki--Still no tapes, huh? Did you order by phone or on the site? I ordered from the site and was supposed to get an email when the order shipped. I never got the email in the 3-5 days like they said. That's when I started emailing the customer service department. I'm hoping your order comes today. If they were supposed to come yesterday, get on the phone or email customer service. WOW! You did 4 miles in an hour??? That is a fantastic pace!:bravo: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the metal monster is kind to you and you get below 200. Keep up doing some kind of exercise till you get the tapes. That way you'll already be in the exercise habit.
Kristin--I checked out your pics. Good for you for posting them. And good for you for starting an exercise program. :cp: It doesn't matter what weight we're all starting from. What matters is that we're working on getting healthier.
I personally think it's a big step to take "before" pics. I found it to be a big motivator for myself. I had DH take some pics of me in a 2pc bathing suit :yikes: a couple of summers ago. It helped get me exercising for about 6 months. Then life happened and I let things slide. I found those pics recently and compared them to how I look now, and I'm pretty darn close to that high weight (8lbs away). It just so happened the Power 90 infomercial came on a few days later and got me interested. So we'll see how this program works. I'm a very slow loser. Also, I'm not tooooo worried about scale weight--I want to see my clothes sizes going down.
:drill: OK POWER GIRLS! LET'S ALL EXERCISE TODAY!!! :drill:
I'll be back later.
05-23-2003, 01:40 PM
Don't worry about that soreness...mine disappeared after Day 3..but I know what you mean. HARD to exercise when everything hurts! I just finished Day 5....one more day and I get a rest day! lol I did much better today. My knees didn't hurt near as much because I am taking it easier on the lunges, etc. I did alot better on the pushups today too. I didn't think you could improve so much in just a few days, but I'm really doing it! YEA!
I gotta tell ya, I had a REALLY hard time posting my pics. I took them late at night while my husband was in bed and the kids were asleep. I have a timer on my digital camera and I sat it on the ironing board in my bedroom while I took the pics. I think I took around 25 or so...didn't matter, they all still looked AWFUL! I never dreamed in a million years I'd let myself get to this state. I weighed around 135-140 all through high school and college...gained the normal "Freshman Fifteen" but lost it my senior year....THEN...CHILDREN. lol I've steadily gained weight year after year for the last 12 years. Was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease 2 years ago...couldn't get out of bed for about 4 months and that's when the pounds REALLY piled up! But I have been getting regular treatments for this illness and am learning to cope with it quite well. Now I just have to stick to this exercise routine!
You guys REALLY help me stay motivated! I'm so glad I've found the Power girls! I really want to keep this up!
Are either of you going to post your pics???? hahaha Don't leave me hangin'....***kidding***
Take care all....gotta hit the showers!
Ciao for now
05-23-2003, 05:26 PM
Ok, I did day 3. The pushups were a bit easier today and I think I'll be able to up my weights a little next week. Let's see if my hips still "pop" in tomorrow's workout. I'm still a bit sore today, but it's a GOOD sore.
I'm finding that I'm not eating as much these past couple of days. I keep forgetting how exercising surpresses my appetite. I'm still having problems in getting in enough fruits and veggies, but I'll have to keep working on that.
Kristin--how does Meniere's disease affect you? (I haven't gone searching to see what it is yet). Doesn't sound like much fun. I have PCOS and it makes it really difficult to lose weight and easier to put on the weight!:dizzy: I have to really watch my eating and I try not to have: processed foods, white flour foods, sugar, honey, white rice and I try to limit my starchy carbs. I don't have a digital camera or a scanner, so I don't know when/if I will get pics posted.
Miki--How's it going for you today? Did you get any exercise in? Have you heard about your tapes? Keep us informed on how you're doing.
Gotta go get dinner ready. Bye.
05-23-2003, 05:40 PM
What size weights did you start out with? I began with 3lb weights...(blushing) Not ready to up mine yet though. Meniere's disease is a disease of the inner ear. When it first hit me, I was convinced I had a huge brain tumor and was dying. (silly). I had severe vertigo, LOUD tinnitis, nausea, vomiting, headaches, loss of hearing, and a few other things. Finally found a doc who did tons of testing and found the problem. I will have it the rest of my life, but at least I'm learning how to deal with it and am getting regular treatments.
Anyway, what is PCOS? Does that have something to do with your ovaries not functioning right? I am also having problems getting in enough fruits and veggies. Not my favorite, so hard to maintain.
Welp, power girls, I'm gonna run. Will have a day of rest after tomorrow! YEA!
Ciao for now
05-23-2003, 11:12 PM
Still no tapes!!!! I am getting soooooooooo frustrated!! I had an email awhile back saying they had been shipped on May 16 and should be here in 7-10 days. BUT I had paid the two payments up front rather than in 2 separate monthly ones to get them earlier (was supposed to be 10-12 days max) and they debited my account on April 30!! Soon it will be May 30!!! Monday is a holiday so I wont get them then for sure. I did send a pretty strong email to them on the 19th and thats when I got the reply that they were sorry and would 2ndDay FedEx them to me. Well, this is the 23rd and still no tapes!!! I've made 2 phone calls in the last week or so also. I am really getting fed up. Crossing my fingers that they show tomorrow.
I walked 3 miles today. Only carried my weights for one of them. I do have some good news tho...My official new weight as of today is...199.5!!!:cb: Just BARELY under 200 but under enough to count...
Ya'll are really motivating me with all your Power90 workout talk. I just cant wait to join you. Keep up the good work!
05-23-2003, 11:20 PM
PS...Where on the Power90 is the gallery?? I dont know where to look for the pics.
05-24-2003, 12:10 AM
When you go to the beachbody site, go to the top of the page and click on the tab that says "Community Center". Then go to the "Message Boards", then scroll down and you will see a thread that says "Power 90 Photo Gallery". There are TONS of pics in there! They are very inspirational too. All those people slimming down can't be wrong!
And CONGRATS on getting under 200!! WOOHOO! Can't wait until I can say the same thing! You go girl!
I will channel the mail and see if I can't get those tapes to you soon! hahahaha But it's great that you're still walkin'!
05-24-2003, 09:24 AM
Hey Power Girls!
A rainy day here. I have the place to myself for a few hours. My hubby went to my folks' to help with some renos and he took our son with him:dancer:
I had my hubby take my "before" pics last night. Poor, poor person in the photolab! I usually get doubles of my films too. :fr: I don't care. In a couple of months, the pics 30 or 60 day pics won't be so scary.
Miki--Oh Dear! Still no tapes! I really hope you get them today:crossed: I would say that if you don't get them by Monday, email them again, possibly using the reply button for the letter they sent you about fed-exing in 2 days. Just state the facts like you've said here (when account was debited, when you rec'd email package was shipped, and that they said they'd fed-ex it to you.) Try not to get angry, just state the facts and ask where the package is. Keep your emails to them--then you have a record of what you wrote and when.
I'm really happy that you are still doing your walking. Good job! And you're BELOW 200:twirly: :high: You are doing Awsome!
Kristin--Kudos to you for being able to learn to live with Meniere's. Doesn't sound very nice at all. PCOS--Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. A lot of women with this problem DO have the cysts on the ovaries, but I don't. It is a hormonal disorder (how I describe it). They must have named it PCOS because they found a lot of women with the same symptoms had the cysts. (probably a male doc!) I have other symptoms like gaining weight easily, especially above the belly button (but below it has rolls too!), difficulty in losing the weight, excess facial hair, high blood pressure etc. I'm also more at risk for developing diabetes. So I want to get the weight under control because losing weight will help deminish the other symptoms.
I am using 3 and 5 lb weights depending on what move I'm doing. I think next week I'll be able to use 5 and 7 lbs. You were sooo right--today is day 4 and I'm not too sore. I can feel a little bit, but that way I know I've worked myself.
Ok girls, I'm outta here. gotta do a few chores and then my workout.
05-24-2003, 02:07 PM
Well, I got in the cardio today. It was a little easier than the first time. I actually was able to do a couple of plank-pushup-upward dog moves. My knees and hips are a little out of wack--I have bad joints. But my hips didn't "pop" as much this time around on the kicks.
Wow! Sunshine came out here! I'm going to putter in the garden.
05-24-2003, 03:07 PM
Just got home...LONG day with the errands, shopping, etc. (Sometimes I HATE Saturdays...) Anyway, this is the first time I haven't gotten my workout done in the a.m. Here it is 3:00 and I STILL have to do cardio! ARGH! Now I know why it's best to get those things in EARLY.....lol.
Gosh, Susanne, I'm sorry to hear about the PCOS. I knew it had something to do with the ovaries...I have a friend whose daughter just got diagnosed with it. (She's only 15.) She is really heavy, has thick hair on her legs and face, and she was getting some abnormal coloring on her face. She is getting treated, but I know it's something you have to live with the rest of your life. God bless ya for starting an exercise program with all of that going on!!! Glad the soreness is going away, and the hip is not popping so much anymore! But we get a REST day tomorrow!! woohoo!!!!!
Miki, I don't know what to say about those darn tapes...I'm still trying to channel the mail for ya!
Okay, well...guess I had better hit the cardio!
CIAO for now

Still no tapes:( Susanne, I have replied from that last email TWICE with no reply these last 2 times. I am going to try to call again Tuesday. I hate that I cant do anything with the Monday holiday. And I do have all my emails saved. I worked today from 10 til 4 and just finished cooking and washing dishes and I'm pooped. I think today will be my 'off'day as far as exercise. Normally I dont skip. My sis and I have been walking 7 days a week but going to make an exception today. I ate too much too so probably couldnt make it if I tried. lol
Kristin, thanks..Im going to check out the Power90 gallery now. I love seeing before and after pics. Gives me lotsa inspiration.
Well girls...have a great Memorial Day Weekend.
05-24-2003, 09:24 PM
Miki--Sorry you didn't get your tapes. We had our long weekend last Monday(I'm in Canada in case you hadn't noticed), and my DVDs came on Tuesday. I hope that's what happens with yours.
I think it's a good idea to take a day off so you don't get burnt out. the Power 90 has an "off" day in it's program.
I'm sending good vibes that you'll get your tapes Tuesday!!!
05-24-2003, 10:32 PM
Hey you Power girls!
Hope you all have a nice Memorial Day Weekend. I'm going to enjoy my day off from P90...but I almost feel GUILTY!!! I will definitely have to watch my eating tomorrow...
Miki, I don't know what to tell you about the tapes. Hang in there...they will come soon, (I hope!)
Enjoy your day off tomorrow, Susanne!
Will be checking in...
05-25-2003, 10:18 PM
Kristin...How was your 'rest' day today? I hope you enjoyed it. I finally located your Power90 pics. Thanks for telling me how to get there. It was really funny because they reminded me so much of myself. The 3rd one especially, the one from the back, could have been me!!! Even the hair looked like mine from the back. Weird huh? lol
Susanne, I'm really hoping my tapes show up Tues like you said yours did after the holiday. I'm sure I'll need them for sure after the cookout we're having tomorrow!
Talk to you girls later.
05-26-2003, 06:34 AM
Well, holiday for you guys. Ours was last Monday.
I did my workout yesterday. 5 days in a row now. I haven't done that many days of exercise in a row in a long time. I think I'm going to just keep going without an "off" day until I feel like I really need one. I'm afraid that if I take a day off, I won't restart the next day. I did have a little "cheat" last nigh with the food. I had a few chips. Didn't eat the whole family size bag like usual, just a small bowl.
Miki--I'm really hoping your tapes come tomorrow. Enjoy your cookout. You've been doing your walking, so don't worry about 1 day of eating differently.
Kristin--How was your off day? Did you enjoy it? How terrible for your friend's daughter. Especially being 15 and having those symptoms. Must be real tough on her. I hope she has a good doc that will help her. The right kind of diet (Sugarbusters for example) and exercise will help too.
Ok girls. Gotta go get stuff ready for DS to go to school. Have a wonderful Memorial Day!
05-26-2003, 11:20 AM
I DID enjoy my day off, but WHEW....was I EVER lazy! It felt good though...now I'm full of energy and ready to start the new week.
I think it was good for me to take the day off. My body needed that rest.
Miki, weren't those pictures HORRIBLE??? I hated posting those things, but it helps to go back and look at them when I feel like giving up. Like I said before, it will be real embarrassing if I'm not able to post 30, 60, and 90 day pics with no results.
Susanne, I don't know what kind of treatment my friend's daughter is getting...at least they know what's wrong and can help her out. She was having some major depression...which I can understand at that age! Weight gain, facial hair, etc. Gotta be hard on anyone, especially when you're in high school, ya know?
Okay, I'm outta here. You girls have a good day. I'm off to sculpt!
Ciao for now
05-27-2003, 08:36 AM
Hey Power girls,
How's your Tuesday? I just finished Cardio...I REALLY hate Cardio days right now! It's hard for my fat butt to get through it, and I struggle the whole way through just about. Glad it's over for the day though...now I can look forward to the rest of my day and only having to do sculpt in the morning.
If you don't have your tapes by today, Miki...I believe I'd get on the horn. I think it's been plenty of time, and getting the run-around isn't helping you a bit. I'm sure they get hundreds of orders a day, but come on! They should be better organized than that! Kudos to you for sticking with an exercise routine while you wait. I sat on my butt eating tater chips while I was waiting on mine to get here....hahaha.
Hope things are well with you Susanne! Did you get in your rest day, or did you go ahead and skip it?
I'll check in later, gals.
05-27-2003, 02:36 PM
I hope you had a nice holiday monday and didn't indulge too much :s:
My DS wanted to try lobster and the store had little ones real cheap, so I indulged him. DH and I don't like sea food (I'll eat tuna from a tin or a bit of salmon but that's it). I hate to discourage the little guy from trying new things just because of my/our dislikes, so I boiled up this thing (stunk up the house) and broke it open and pulled the meat out for DS. I was really fighting the urge to lose my cookies. The things we do for our kids! Thank goodness it is garbage day and it hadn't been picked up yet, so I could dispose of all the shell and stuff right away.
Well, I think today will be my "off" day. I'm feeling a migraine coming on, and it's coming on quick. I so wanted to keep going with exercise, but not a good thing today. Maybe that's why I was also queasy with the lobster. Lately the migraines have been making me queasy, so I'm not really wanting to eat today either.
Miki--What's happening with those tapes??? I hope the good karma I sent reached them! Keep up your exercising and the tapes will be a little easier for you to do once you get them. I'm really hoping you got them today!
Kristin--as you can see, I took my off day today. I am not fond of cardio days either. I much prefer circuit days. Abs are a killer too but we must do them so that once the fat is melted off, the muscle underneath will be tight!
That's about it for me. Have a good rest of the day!
05-27-2003, 06:12 PM
I jumped in briefly at the beginning encouraging you to get the tapes that I really thought they worked..... that was about a month ago....
Since then I have been married and been on my honeymoon to Italy..... now I am back in the real workd and think I would like to join you......
I will start tomorrow....
05-27-2003, 08:01 PM
Hi Angel! Glad to have you aboard. Always room for another Power Girl!
Congrats on your marriage. How was Italy?
Are you starting at day 1? Just wondering cause you said you've tried the videos. Maybe you have some words of wisdom to share with the rest of us. I agree it is a great workout, IF you do it.
05-27-2003, 08:27 PM
Hey Angel! Welcome, welcome, welcome! The more the merrier! Congrats on being a newlywed! ITALY...WOW. How was it? Susanne and I are about at the same day...and thanks to her and Miki I am still with it! (Day 9 ends today! woohoo!)
Let us know when you start...and if you posted your pics on the beachbody site?
Susanne, I hope your head gets to feeling better. Never had a migraine, but I hear they are the worst. Maybe your body is telling you that you NEED that day off, eh?
Miki, I don't know what to tell ya, girl. This waiting is getting a bit rediculous!
Have a good day, girls. Power on!
05-27-2003, 09:12 PM
GRRRRRRRRRR...STILL NO TAPES:mad: :?:  I called AGAIN today and was pretty much told "Your tapes are only taking as long as everyone else's..." I got off the phone furious and emailed AGAIN. I did find out by the phone call that altho I received email promising reshipping by FedEx 2nd Day, that had never been done.:( I hope that my blood boiling increases my calories burned. lol ( just laughing to keep from crying..I am really really getting beyond frustated.) I ordered these things on April 27 or 28. A month ago now which would have been ok except that I paid in full to get them early! Ok, enough griping.
Walked 3 miles this morning. Going to try to do some floor exercise tonite. Not going to let those stupid tapes get me so discouraged that I get off track. I'm sore today from working out a little with my 13 yr old son Monday nite. We did some squats, jump roping, weights, etc. Later, I thought to myself.."Maybe I shouldnt do this...dont want to be sore before I even start the tapes" I'm not going to do quite so much tonite.
Welcome Angel! Maybe my tapes will get here tomorrow and I can get started with you. I'm off the rest of the week so it would be a good time for me to be sore..
Well I'll be back tomorrow with the latest update in the missing tape saga.;)
05-27-2003, 09:39 PM
So great to here from everybody!
Italy was absolutely the best!!!! Spent 2 days in Rome (not my favorite), 1 day in Sienna (stunning!), 2 days in Florence (pretty), a day trip to Pisa (nothing there but the tower), Cinque Terre (5 beautiful cities on the cliffs over looking the Mediterrian Sea - need I say more!), Milan (Yuck!), 1 night in Como (one of the prettiest places I have ever seen - a large lake at the bottom of the Italian Alps which back up to the Swiss Alps), 2 days in Venice (Romantic and everything you ever fantasize about), 2 days in Bologna (neat town - took a cooking class and learned how to make homemade pasta and gnocchi - YUM!!!!) and 1 more day in Florence..... it was a busy fun filled time that I never wanted to end. We walked at least 10 miles a day and saw so much.... such a different type of place. Sprained my ankle that is still giving me problems but evertyhing else was perfect. An absolutely perfect honeymoon.
Miki - I hope you get your tapes soon.... I know how frustrating it can be when you are hyped to do something and then have to be on hold. All the walking you are doing sounds really great.
I have done the tapes in the past but think I am going to go ahead and start at the beginning again and see where it leads off.
Zanne and Kristen - you guys sound like you are doing great! Just keep up the good work.... as for words of wisdom.... not too many. I think the program works all by itself as long as you do it.... I did use my own background music once I knew what he was saying mostly... that did help it go a little faster.... but make sure you can hear him talking - he is good at reminding you about form.... and it does start getting easier - even the power yoga....
Well I am off to bed....
05-27-2003, 10:16 PM
I finally did my 'before' pics also. Havent posted them tho because I didnt see a thread specifically for PowerHalfHour. At least I'll have them for comparison myself. Just ready to get on it!! :crossed: I just have a feeling my tapes will be here tomorrow! We'll see.
Angel, wow..what a wonderful trip! I bet you hated getting back to 'real life'..lol
Susanne, sorry to hear you arent feeling well. I hope your migraine didnt last long!
Well, just popped back in for a min to see if there were any new posts. Going to try to get in some exercise now before bedtime.
Bye for now
05-28-2003, 08:08 AM
Good morning ladies!
Just finished my sculpt for day 10...it really goes by fast! I'm starting to get that "tiredness" that I always get when I begin exercising. Don't know if I'm not eating the right foods, or it's just too much for me...(it doesn't FEEL like too much) but I always get this way when starting an exercise program. At least this time I'm doing them in the morning so that I don't have to worry about them the rest of the day....I just wish I had more energy.
Anywho...Angel! Your honeymoon sounded spectacular! The only time I have ever been out of the country is a few years ago when I went to London-Ontario Canada, but it was for business and it was -5 degrees with a windchill of -15...(UGH!) You'll have memories to last a lifetime!! That's so great!
Miki...I may just have to try and record my tapes to send to you!! I can't believe the way they have done you...
Susanne...feel better, girl. Gotta have your posts everyday, ya know!!!
Well, it's 8am...guess I should start my day! Will check in later...
05-28-2003, 04:53 PM
It's 4:30 and I still haven't done my workout!:yikes: My head finally "defuzzed" just a couple of hours ago. I'm waiting for a callback and no one else is home! But I must do this workout today!!!
Angel--you're trip sounds so amazing! Are you and/or DH Italian? Or was it just a dream come true? Good idea about using your own music! I have the DVDs and I have the option of turning the music off.
Kristin--You go girl! Keep getting in those workouts. I'd love to be consistant and get them over with every morning, but sometimes life just doesn't work out that way.
Miki--Give us some GOOD news today, please! I hope you can. Keep up the walking. You're doing great.
I gotta run and start dinner. Looks like I won't be working out till after we eat.
05-28-2003, 10:34 PM
Just a quick note before I head to bed....
Was not able to start this morning - when I woke up this am my ankle was very swollen.... I am going to have to go to the dr on this i think..... well hopefully tomorrow....
I havent taken recent before pics although I do have some that pretty much still look like me now from last fall.... I may use those.
Keith and I are not italian.... I just always wanted to go .... and it was more than perfect.
Anyway I am out for the night.
05-28-2003, 10:40 PM
Guess my 'feeling' was wrong..still didnt get my tapes. BUT... I did receive a reply from last nite's email. Once again, I was promised that today my tapes are being reshipped FedEx 2nd Day so I should get them by Friday. (Funny how on the phone just yesterday I was told they couldnt do that..lol) I'll probably end up with THREE sets.
I walked just 2 miles today. We ended up going around 5 this afternoon and it was so hot we just couldnt go the last 2 miles. From now on, we'll have to go later or get up and head out early. While school was going on, we were going at 7:30 a.m. as soon as the kids' bus left, but we didnt do that today since we finally had a day to sleep in. ( I was off today and will be off tomorrow also) Taught us a lesson...much better to get up and walk.
One of these days ya'll are going to be surprised with a post from me saying I actually got those blasted tapes and did the first workout! At least I hope so.
I'll check in again tomorrow...
05-29-2003, 03:24 PM
Ok, here it is AGAIN late afternoon and I still have not done my workout!
Ladies, I need a good kick in the rear from each of you! I really must make myself exercise in the morning. DS has soccer at 6 and I don't think I'll be able to get any exercise in! Bad Susanne!
MIKI--lets hope that email was right and you'll get that 2 day delivery. You're doing great with the walking.
Angel--Oh dear. I hope there's nothing serious with that ankle. Did you have it checked out in Italy? Feel better soon.
Kristin--What's up with you today????
Hope you're all having a good day.
05-29-2003, 03:40 PM
Hey all..just a quick note to say hey.
I've had a HORRIBLE day...7 kids in my husband's family are graduating high school this year! I have 2 graduations tonight, one tomorrow and one Saturday. That puts a hurtin' on the ol' pocketbook! lol
As for my workouts, I skipped cardio today...(shame on me!) I had so much to do...and I'm TIRED! (excuses, excuses...)
Anyway, hope everyone is okay...Angel, take care of that ankle...Miki, I won't hold my breath on the tapes! lol
Susanne, maybe we shoud kick each OTHER in the rear! I'll catch up with you all later....I'm off to graduation #1....(groan)
05-29-2003, 09:51 PM
Ok, you probably guessed it....No tapes today...lol I'm starting to feel a little silly being part of the PowerGirls when I have no power yet.. I would give ya'll the cyber kick you need for not exercising like you should have today,:p BUT when you skip occasionally it helps keep me from being so behind. :s: I have to confess...I need a kick myself also. I didnt walk today.:o I did play basketball with my 13 yr old son, Josh, for an hour but I rarely had my hands on the ball.
Angel, did you go to the doctor? I hope the prob with your ankle is nothing serious. Just be sure to take care of yourself. Dont want to ignore it and let it turn into something worse. Let us know how you're doing. :)
Well ladies...as usual, my fingers are crossed that this time the tapes will REALLY arrive as promised! You'll be the first to know!
05-30-2003, 07:29 AM
I am resting the ankle.... didnt have it checked out in Italy.
I am going to start on Monday....give my ankle enough time to heal a little more.... been keeping it wrapped and try to keep it elevated.
I hope everyone else is doing better and that you guys got up this morning and did your thing.... DO IT DO IT Do IT!!!!!!
Miki I hope your tapes get here by monday so that you can start with me....
05-30-2003, 09:47 PM
Hooray!!!!!!! My tapes are in!!!!:cb: I cant believe it. My sis and I did the ab workout tonite. If I'm able, I'll let ya'll know tomorrow how I feel.
Angel, you wont be too far behind me. You did get the Power Half Hour didnt you? I know everyone else has the Power90. I hope this one works out okay. You were smart to rest that ankle.
Susanne and Kristin...how was your workout today? I trust neither of you are needing that cyber kick??:s: :D Not the same checking in and not hearing from either of you. Hope you both had a good day!
05-31-2003, 08:55 AM
Well, I must come dragging my sorry butt! The last time I did my workouts was Monday! I'm gonna need the biggest, hardest cyber kicks in the butt that you girls have got! First it was the headache, then the foggy head, then I hurt my back lifting my son---excuses, excuses. I'll be missing today too. My inlaws will be here in a few minutes to take me on garage sales! I'm thinking I will start my 90days again on Monday. I'll be keeping MIKI and ANGEL company.
MIKI--:bravo: :cp: :cb: HOORAY!!!!! I am soo happy you got your tapes! You'll have to tell us what you think after you preview them and then after you do them:s:
ANGEL--You make sure that ankel is well rested before you start anything. You don't want to injure it more.
KRISTIN--Where are you? How are you doing? Inquiring minds want to know!
Ok, I better get out of here. My inlaws may walk in and I'm only in my nightie!
05-31-2003, 11:28 AM
I"m here! I'm here! Been a busy week/weekend...LOTS of graduations to attend...I missed my workout on Thursday, but got my cardio in yesterday...(I didn't mention the eating...mainly because of all the celebrations going on, I jumped right in there and ate everything in sight! (((groan))) ) So it's Saturday...and I still have to get my sculpt in. I'm still trying to decide if I should go ahead and take my rest day tomorrow, or count Thursday as my rest day...(probably the best thing to do, but not what I want to do! lol )
Angel, stay off the ankle until its completely healed...don't want to see ya re-injuring it. Hope it feels better soon!
Miki....OMG...your tapes FINALLY came!! WOOHOO!!! Can't wait to hear how you like it!!! Congrats!
Susanne...we need some serious virtual kicking...we gotta do this thing! To be thin!! To wear a bathing suit!!! To shop in the stores where they don't have plus sizes!! WE CAN DO IT...(I'll just keep saying that to myself, okay?? lol)
Power on, girls....
Ciao for now!
05-31-2003, 07:44 PM
Hey Power girls...
Just a quick note...if you have some spare time in the near future (I know some of you laugh...haha) go to the beachbody site and check out the link for the new Power 90X they are coming out with! This is for "After Power 90"....it looks totally amazing! I guess it kind of gave me something to work TOWARDS...a new goal you might say.
What are you guys up to anyway? KPP!!!!
06-01-2003, 12:19 PM
Hi girls! Sorry I didnt get in to post yesterday. I figured you'd just think I was too sore to type. So far I'm not as bad as I thought I'd be. We've done one day of abs and one day of thighs. Today is arms and we previewed that tape last nite and I'm dreading it!! I cannot do pushups at all!! I think this one is gonna kill me.
Ok, Kristin and Susanne...this is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you.:s: ((((((((((((((((((((KICKKKKKKKKKK))))))))))))))))) ))))) NOW....go to your rooms, think about what you've done ( or in this case, havent done) then get out of there, eat healthy and start those workouts!:drill: :p :D
Angel, how's the ankle? Cant wait til you can get started with us. Just dont rush it too soon.
Have a good and "Powerful" day girls.
06-01-2003, 01:15 PM
But that's just what I needed! Thanks Miki!
Miki--Sounds like you're going great with the workouts. I didn't think I could do pushups either, but try doing the "lady" pushups on your knees. They are easier that way--at least a little--and I found myself getting better each time. We'll see how I am after missing nearly a week! I just got back from grocery shopping and even tho I went down the chip aisle, I didn't buy any. The worst thing I bought was some baked rice crackers. I think these will be ok to gnaw on when I get a craving for something salty and crunchy.
Kristin--Sorry--I forgot you had all those graduations. C'mon girl we have to keep up with Miki now!:D I looked at Power 90X. I think I'll be doing the Power 90 I have a few times before I'll be able to even think about the 90X.
Angel--How's the ankel? Make sure it is feeling REALLY good before you start. We don't want you to injure it even more. We'll be here when you're ready.
Gotta go get these groceries put away and tackle some gardening.
06-02-2003, 08:27 AM
OK I am starting today.... the ankle is still a little sore but I think it is alot better..... I will try today and see if I have any problem....
Miki - I have the actuall Power 90 tapes.... I bought them when they didnt have anything but power 90..... It sounds like your tapes focus on one area a day.... that sounds pretty good....
The tapes that i have have no background music on them.... he tells you to put in what you want to listen to and thats what i do...
Susanne - come join us on Day one again.... we would love the company... and the great thing is you just havent quit.....and since you own these tapes you always get to start over.....
Anyway I am off to try this.... talk to you later.
06-02-2003, 09:01 AM
Okay, girls...it's day 15 for me. I made up for the one day I missed Thursday by not taking the day off Sunday! :faint: I feel pretty good...half-way to day 30! hahahaha
Angel  -be careful on that ankle, girl. Wouldn't hurt to check into a brace-they have pretty good ones at WallyWorld (so I hear).
Miki-Well!!!! Felt the virtual "kick" and I am ON TRACK!!!! I can't say that my eating is the best in the world, but honestly, it never has been. I'm taking it one day at a time...and just a little at a time....I hope to get used to healthy eating eventually... :cbg:
Susanne-What's up with you woman? Are you back on track? Are we on the same page? (okay, the same day...15?) Don't leave me hangin'!!!!!!!!! PULEASE!!!!!! :stress:
Okay, I'm outta here...I be checkin' in on you guys!!
06-02-2003, 12:33 PM
Whoohoo! I just finished my workout. It was a little difficult today (except for the pushups--found them a little easier:shrug: ) but I managed to get thru and I feel GREAT! It took me a half hour to find the DVD remote. I'm gonna have to chain it to the player:lol: Whenever I want to use it, I have to hunt it down.
I'm going to start my 90 days over. I did my measurements today and weight. I'm one pound up from 2 weeks ago and up an inch in a couple of places.:o I think this could be from bloating tho, cause TOM is due in the next day or so.
KRISTIN--WTG in getting your workouts done! I'm proud of you for making up your missed day. You're a good influence on me!
ANGEL--How was your workout? How's the ankle? Nothing too bad for it in the sculpt, but the cardio could be tough on it. Just take it easy tomorrow and if it hurts doing something, just walk in place till that segment is done. I turned off the music today and I liked the workout better.
MIKI--Thanks for the KICK! As you can see, it worked! Your workouts sound interesting, doing a different body part each day.
I gotta go now girls. Let's all POWER UP!
06-02-2003, 09:38 PM
Hooray!!!!!!! Finally we're all into our workouts!
Angel, yes my tapes focus the entire 30 min on a specific part each day with one day being 30 min of stretches and one day of rest. So far I really like it. Today was my stretch day. Tomorrow is abs again then on Wed I'll do my first time of 'buns'. I've already done abs once, thighs once and arms once. Mine dont have backup music either, well maybe a little but barely loud enough to hear so once I get used to all the moves I'll do like you and add my own music. How did your ankle feel after your workout? Ok I hope.
Kristin, Wow..day 15! You're doing great. Are you able to tell a difference yet?? I'm proud of you for making up for Thursday. Way to go!
Susanne, I had to laugh because I had to do the same thing yesterday trying to find the remote to our VCR. We NEVER can keep up with those things. Dont worry--I was up a pound myself this past week. That is so frustrating. We just have to make sure we dont let it discourage us enough to quit...there are so many things that can cause fluctuation on the scales. (thats what I always try to tell myself anyway) Cant wait til I can say the pushups were easier for me too. Those things kill me!
Well, worked til 7 tonite and havent been home long so I better run get some things done. Talk to you girls tomorrow.
06-02-2003, 09:48 PM
Well my ankle made it through although it hurt here and there.... going to have to go a little slower.....
I am going to go find a pre formed ankle wrap tomorrow to see if that helps.... I really hate the idea of going to a doctor to let them say "yep - you have a sprained ankle" since there is nothing they can do for it....
Well it sounds like everyone is doing real good.... YEAH!!!!
06-03-2003, 08:11 PM
Where is everyone today??:?: I think this is the first time I've ever checked in when no one had posted all day. I hope you're all having a good day.
I am so into this workout stuff!! My hubby decided he wants to do it also. My sis and I do ours in the mornings most of the time, when I dont have to go to work early, so today I did the ab tapes with her then when Phil got home this evening, I did them again with him.:o I cant believe I made it thru both but it really wasnt so bad. I also walked a mile today. Now if I can just get the eating where I need it to be.
Angel, I bet that wrap will definitely help the ankle. You probably need the support for awhile for sure.
Kristin and Susanne, did you girls get your workout in today? How was it?? Check in when you can.
Bye for now
06-03-2003, 08:58 PM
Hey Power Girls!
Well, I did my day 2 late this afternoon. I really have to try to do it early in the day. But I did it and I'm glad. DH has started doing it too, but since I hid the remote yesterday ( so I would know where it was!!!) he couldn't change the selection on the DVD, so he started with the opposite workout from me. Actually it's better cause there really isn't room for 2 of us to be moving around.
MIKI--You Go Girl!!! WoW! 2 ab workouts in one day and a walk. I was wondering about your program--do you have any dance type moves like many cardio videos? The thing I like best about the Power 90 is that there are NO dance type steps. I can do (or at least attempt) the moves without having to remember the choreography (sp?).
KRISTIN--Where are you? How are you doing?
ANGEL--How is your ankle today? I have a couple of those socklike tensors and they are good.
Ok girls, gotta go. Have a good evening!
06-04-2003, 06:51 PM
Hey Power Girls!!!!
How's everyone doing today????
ANGEL--How's that ankle?
KRISTIN--Where are you???
MIKI--How was you BUNS workout???
C'mon ladies! We need to ALL try to check in every day. Even if you can't get in a workout, don't feel as if you can't post. We need to come here to support and encourage each other! We CAN adn WILL do this!!!!
I didn't get in my workout till after 5 this evening. I wasn't feeling so great earlier today as TOM came a couple days early. But I got in the workout and I feel great! It was weights today. I think next week I'll be able to use heavier weights. I'm just going up by small increments. Right now I'm using 3 and 5 lbs and next week I'll try 5 and 7 lbs.
My eating wasn't great. Had a good hunk of chocolate today. I'll blame it on hormones:D But other than that, I guess it was ok. I made pizzas on whole wheat pitas for dinner. I think my water consumption was a bit low today tho.
Time to go! Power Up Girls!
06-04-2003, 07:17 PM
Sorry about npot posting yesterday.... did my workout yesterday with some limited movement due to ankle.
My bosses were in town yesterday and today.... I worked last night until 1am and then got up a 5am to finish some reports that had to be done this monring.... so needless to say I didnt get my workout in and I am so tired right now I am just hoping I can stay awake until 9 so that I dont mess up my sleeping schedule....
I think I will use today as my day off.....
How is everyone else doing????
Miki- You sound like you are off to a GREAT start!!!! Keep it up!!!!
Susanne - whenever you get your workout in is a good thing.... I do like it when i do it in the morning because i am much more likely to talk myself out of doing it in the evening.....
Kristen - How are you doing???
06-04-2003, 07:35 PM
Today is day 2 for me with power 90. What eating plan are people following? I got the Formula book that people are doing on the beachbody site but the eating plan is WAY TOO MUCH protein so I'm interested to see what y'all are doing? I'm a little sore right now but luckily tomorrow is cardio. Did anyone have a hard time with the power yoga? I think my stomach is too big to do some of the moves, lol! I'm glad to see some of you are already at 15 days, what a inspiration!
06-04-2003, 07:52 PM
WTG for getting 2 days under your belt! I too have problems with the power yoga. But I can see myself improving little by little each time.
I'm trying to follow a SugarBuster type diet. No sugars of any kind (except natural from fruit or milk), no white flour, rice or pasta, etc. Today my hormones got me and I had some chocolate, but it was high cocoa content which isn't too bad. I am trying to follow the rule about not eating 3 hours before bedtime and doing pretty good with that. I usually drink lots of water.
I hope you keep posting here! Always room for another Power Girl!
06-04-2003, 07:55 PM
Welcome Jacksonmom! :) It was cool to sign in and see we had a new "Power Girl" in the group. As far as my eating, I am just eating healthier and trying to stay under 1500 calories. I'm just actually following any certain diet. I lost 40 lbs from Oct til now doing that with a little exercise thrown in. I just started the PowerHalfHour videos a week ago. So far I really like them.
Guess what! I was off today but my sis and I got up early anyway and did the Buns tape at 7 a.m.! (Im not a morning person normally) Well hubby came in tonite and wanted to do it also so once again, I did my tape twice in one day! My sis happened by about the time we started so I talked her into doing it again with us. I was soooooooooo sweaty by the end!! But it felt great once we were finished. Tomorrow is my off day...Yesss!!
Now I have just got to get my eating back on track as well as I had it before. Today at my nephew's bday party, I had cake AND a vanilla ice cream cone.:^:
Angel, I dont see how you're making it on just 4 hrs sleep girl. I'd probably already be fading by now. At least missing your workout hopefully is good for your ankle getting better faster.
Susanne, these tapes dont have dance step either which is good cuz I'm not the most coordinated person..lol It's all just WORK! lol I only have 3lb weights right now but I think I need to go out and get at least 5 lbs ones.
Kristin, are you ok?? We miss ya! How are the workouts coming? Good I hope...dont wanna have to administer another of those kicks.:s: :p :D
Well ladies...I'm pooped!! Better run for now..
06-04-2003, 07:57 PM
Ooops! Jacksonmom, guess I need to start proofreading before I hit 'send'....I meant I am actually NOT following any certain diet. What I typed didnt make sense..sorry..lol
06-05-2003, 08:00 AM
I'm hoping to get in my workout sometime this morning, but just popped in here to catch up.
ANGEL--I think you deserved to have yesterday as your off day. That's amazing that you could work with only a few hours sleep. If I don't get enough sleep, I'm a witchy zombie woman:lol: That's great that you are still exercising but modifying for the ankle.
MIKI--You're amazing for doing your exercise tapes twice in a day! Your sis too! You have really earned your off day. Don't worry about your eating indiscretions. We can't change all our bad habits overnight and a treat once in a while won't hurt you. I might have to look into the Power Half Hour for maintenance--when I get there
KRISTIN-- Hope you're ok. We've missed your daily posts! Please check in.
That's it for now girls. Have a good day.
06-05-2003, 03:05 PM
Didn't get my workout in this morning like I wanted. Instead DS and I spent money at Walmart:D
I just finished cardio/abs. I finally was able to do one pushup from plank to dog. I haven't been able to do it at all, so I'm accomplishing something.:smug:
Hope you all are having a GREAT day!
06-05-2003, 08:48 PM
Owwwwwww!! My poor rear end and legs are sooo sore today! Good thing today was my 'off' day! Just hope I can do tomorrow's tape.
I'm disgusted at myself again. I did fine all day then tonite once again I ate too much! It's not even junk food that's my main prob..it's just eating too much period. Tonite we had pork roast, mashed potatoes, and fresh squash and I ate toooo much!! Now I feel miserable. I keep telling myself all this exercise is going to do no good if I dont get my eating back under control. For 6 months, I did great with it now all of a sudden I've started messing up again. Definitely got to work on that.
Zanne, good for you on the pushup! I still cant do those but I keep trying.
Jacksonmom, Kristin, and Angel....how was your day? Hope to hear from you soon.
Cant sit long cuz this hard chair isnt easy on the buns..LOL I'll check in again tomorrow.
06-06-2003, 03:00 AM
Was wondering if I could join in your group. I also post on another one, but thought it would be good to get on an exercise thread also.
I started P90 this week. Feels pretty good, not too sore. I have a hard time with the jumping jacks and the cross hops. I guess that will come in time.
I've been reading all your posts. I had trouble getting my DVD's also, but they finally arrived two weeks ago. I do enjoy the tapes, but that Lisa girl and her punches make me laugh a little. Seems a little "girly", so I do my punches like the guys. Just a personal thing stemming from doing TaeBo for a couple of years. Always taught to be aggressive!
Anyway, I hope we can all be here for each other and offer support. Tomorrow is day 5 for me.
06-06-2003, 07:29 AM
CHACHEE--Always room for another Power Girl! Today is my day 5 too (after restarting this week). Lisa is probably in the videos to keep the guys motivated:lol:
MIKI--I guess you would be sore from doing that video TWICE in one day! Get back at it today, maybe you won't be so sore. I was bad yesterday too with the food. Mine was junkfood tho--DH and I polished off a bag of chips. We have to get back to good eating!
KRISTIN, ANGEL, JACKSONMOM--how are you all doing?
Gotta go get the little guy ready for school. Talk to you later!
06-06-2003, 12:44 PM
I don't know where I've been! GOod to see some newbies in the group! Welcome Jacksonmom and Chachee!!!
Geez, I guess it's day 19..WOW. I had some problems with energy on day 17...could barely even make it through the stretching! I've got to figure out why I have no energy lately...got my thyroid checked and it was okay. Was thinking about starting on the beachbody supplements. Any of you guys taking them? I know...I've read all the hype, but I have to try SOMETHING!!!!
MIKI, I bet you're glad to have your tapes FINALLY!! Sounds like you're really enjoying them!
SANNE, sorry about the MIA lately...how ya doing? We're getting close to that day 30...I feel like I should be further along...(sigh)
ANGEL...hope the foot stays strong for ya.
I gotta check my email... I WAS Getting a notice everytime there was a new post...now I'm not getting ANY. (strange...)
Anywho...I'll do better about checking in! You guys have a great weekend! POWER ON....
06-06-2003, 05:42 PM
I guess I over did it with the bands on scuplt day and so far haven't gotten back to it hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better and will do cardio. I think the bands put too much stress on your joints does anyone else have that problem?
Miki that's great that you can do 2 workouts a day. I can't wait till I can do 6 days straight!
Will check in later. Have a good weekend!
06-06-2003, 06:48 PM
Hey all (again)
Was feeling bad about not checking in the last few days...:o
My eating has been HORRIBLE. (Not that it was EVER any good, but it has been alot better!) I am definitely a junk-food-junkie. If it's fattening, that's what I want! Burgers... :burger: cookies.... :cookie: and the worst....CHOCOLATE. :chockiss: My biggest downfall! And today has been just terrible...I feel like all I've done all day is eat, and of course, all the wrong things. :censored: I think it's gonna take a miracle for me to get to eating healthy!
Okay...WHINING over. :yikes:
How did you guys fair today? I still have sculpt to do...(it's 7pm) I hate when I don't get it over with in the mornings...
Anywho...I'll check in again later! Love you guys!
06-06-2003, 11:06 PM
Hi everybody! Welcome Chachee! :)
Well, I managed to make it thru my Abs tape today but I have a really bad sore throat. Wasnt able to fit in the 2nd time and still not feeling well. I dont want to have to miss a day already so hopefully tomorrow I can get up enough energy to make it thru the Arms tape. Dont know why I have this awful sore throat.:(
Believe it or not, I have very little soreness today. I can't believe I got over it so fast after being so achy yesterday.
It was nice signing in and finding that everyone had posted. I love reading them all.
Well hoping to get to bed shortly as soon as I find something to take for this throat prob. I'll write more tomorrow.
06-07-2003, 12:43 AM
Thanks for the great welcome. Day Five in the books today. Was a little winded when I was done with it, but felt good getting through with all the exercises. I just love doing the weights.
Was considering getting the bands, but I'm not sure how they will work. Any input? I love my dumbbells. I have them up to 10 pounds, and am working the 5 pounds now. I think I will give that two weeks or so and then move up to my 8 pounders. You guys are probably all up to a higher weight, but I wanted to go under what I knew I could do so I could have something to work up to.
Got on the scale and was a little disappointed that I had only lost one pound, but in all honestly, it was probably more than that. I haven't weighed in about a month, so I am sure I was higher, but that was the last weight I knew.
CoachWife: I am right there with you on the junk food. Let me tell you what finally did it for me. I was sitting on the couch last weekend eating peanut butter cups and saw a reflection of myself in the mirror. I saw my double chin and I just felt horrible. I could not believe I was this heavy and was fueling my body with crap. So, since last Saturday I haven't had anything sweet, minus one day and two mini pbutter cups, and I feel so much better. I hear you on the junk food stuff, though!
Susanne: I guess we are on the same day, or within one day of each other. That's really good for me, because I know someone else is out there right where I am!
Miki: Wow, twice in one day? I would be afraid of overdoing it, but congrats to you. Just be careful to do too much too fast. That's a mistake I've made several times. There always seems to be something that gets in the way for me. The day before I started P90 I fell over on my bike with my son. I was bruised up and scraped up with a sore ankle, but I pushed play and felt so much better for doing so. I am still hurting, but feeling better now that I almost have a week under my belt!
Are you guys taking Saturdays or Sundays off? I am thinking Sundays for me. That's usually my lazy day.
Check in later!
06-07-2003, 07:44 AM
Hi Power girls! I wondered if any of you have tried the Slim Series from BB?? I just ordered it and then I saw this group, so I thought I'd ask. :)
06-07-2003, 10:31 AM
Hey fellow PowerGirls!
Day 20....not doing so hot. Trying to start my Saturday off right though. Got my protein this morning and am going to try to cardio this evening. (I have company this weekend and can't exercise in the mornings with them here! )
Hello MINDI! I have not tried the Slim in 6 series, but I have heard that it is EXCELLENT for fat burning. Stay with us and let us know how you like it, okay?
CHACHEE-Congrats on day 5! Just to give my personal views on the dumbbells vs bands: I use the dumbbells :barbell: mainly because with the bands, you never really get the same resistance. I like having the same amount of weight every time I sculpt because I know when I'm progressing! Also, I flipped myself with the end of one of those bands and I had a bruise the size of a baseball! :stress: And the junkfood... I know what you're saying. I do well one day, but then a few days later, I get the sweet cravings, or the salty cravings, and I blow it again. I just need to learn self discipline which has ALWAYS been hard for me when it comes to food....You keep coming back to give me support, okay? :high:
Miki, I agree with chachee...take it easy on those 2-a-days! Would hate to see you get burnt out! But if you can do it and are enjoying it, then POWER ON!! I may get there some day...(can't imagine what year that would be though...hahaha)
Sanne, I didn't realize you had started over until I went back and read the posts! Good for you for not giving up! :bravo:
Oh...and CHACHEE...one more thing: Remember what they say at beachbody. Don't rely on the scales for progress. Definitely keep a record of your measurements! That tells the REAL story!
Okay, have a happy Saturday girls! Sundays are suppose to be my rest day....Now I have to stop resting on the other days too... :O
Ciao for now, ladies! :grouphug:
06-07-2003, 03:56 PM
Wow...Our "Power Girl" club is growing :) Welcome Mindi!! The more, the merrier! I havent personally tried the Slim seriers either but have only read positive comments about it.
I'm still not over my sore throat but I did manage to get in my thigh workout this morning. I just couldnt stand to miss a day. I am going to try to get to town today to get more weights. All I have at the moment is 3lbs and I dont feel I'm accomplishing much with those. I want to try 5 for awhile then ease up to more. I havent tried the bands but I feel like I'd do better sticking with the weights.
About 2 weeks ago I had FINALLY gotten under the 200 lb mark..just barely at 199 but still under. I have been discouraged since then tho because it keeps fluctuating as far up as 205. Even yesterday it was 201 but this morning, I was at 197!! I weighed 4 times to be sure it was for real..even made hubby come read the scale for me.. My goal of 160 is actually kinda feeling reachable.
Since I started the PowerHalfHour tapes the day they arrived, a Friday, my rest days end up being Thursday. So I still have to workout on the weekends.
Well, gotta run. Having a family get-together later to grill hamburgers..yummmy! Talk to ya'll later..everybody keep up the good work!
06-07-2003, 07:48 PM
I was going to take Sunday as my rest day, but the way today is shaping up, today will need to be my rest day. I've been on the go since this morning and it hasn't stopped yet. I have about two hours before I need to leave for a bridal shower and I still need to do two loads of laundry, dishes, cook dinner, give my son a bath and get ready. I am thinking the 35 minute cardio/ab workout will be better tomorrow because I know in my mind I would be rushing through it today. I want to be able to concentrate on the movements and getting through it, minus the jacks, and know I gave 100%. So, I believe tomorrow will be my cardio/ab workout.
CoachWife: Thanks for the info on the bands. I was worried about snapping myself with those. Heehee. I think I will stick to my dumbbells since I have them up to 10 pounds. I don't think I'll make it over that amount in the first 90 days. I did have a slice of pizza today, but only had oatmeal for bfast and a pear for a snack. Pretty good, considering I just had the craving. I think it's better to have a little when you are craving something bad, because I will binge on it if I wait too long.
Mindi: Welcome. I haven't heard anything about the Slim in 6 series. Posts look that it's pretty good, though.
Miki: Congrats on the loss. I think I might wait until the first thirty days are up to weigh. I get too depressed if I get on the scales and nothing shows. I already feel the loss on my waist, though, so I am not so concerned.
Okay, ladies, I have a bridal shower tonight and I am going to be good. Maybe a little slice of dessert, and maybe one drink. Nothing too much!
06-08-2003, 10:56 AM
I see our Power Gang is growing! WELCOME MINDI!
It's been a couple of days since I got on here! Friday I had a horrible day--no workout:yikes: AND what I put in my mouth was terrible! Cookies, chips, chocolate, way too many starches and mostly white ones at that. I felt crummy at bedtime. Yesterday, still no workout:eek: DS had soccer in the morning and we had friends come over in the afternoon. In between I was cleaning. Eating was a bit better, but still had some chips last night.
Well, it's still kind of early Sunday morning and I'm finished my workout!:strong: I was hoping to go up a little in my weights tomorrow, but today the weights felt kind of heavy, so maybe one more day at these weights.
I want to take a page from MIKI's book and do a second workout later. Then I'll be all caught up!
I was showing my friends how I did pushups--I thought they were easy! Well, those wonderful friends and DH pointed out my form was not right! So they corrected me and today when I did the pushups, they were a LOT harder to do.
I love coming here and reading about all of you. It inspires me to keep going!
CHACHEE--I know what you mean about being busy and not being able to get in a workout. We have to just keep going. I re-started the program last week after missing a few days. I don't want to start over again. Weights vs. bands: I use weights. I have band, but I'm afraid it will either snap on me or come back and hit me in the face. I feel I have more control over with the weights. Besides DH was doing weights and we have dumbells from 1-30lbs! I agree that having a little of what you crave is a good idea instead of the big binge later. See what I wrote to MIKI about weight loss.
MIKI--How's the sore throat? Good for you for doing your workout. CONGRATS on the weight loss! I hid my scale for a month. Just remember that the scale may not move like you want because you are going to be building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat (but takes up less room!). In my opinion, the tape measure and the pants-o-meter are better gauges of how you're doing.
COACHSWIFE- You keep going girl! Don't stop now! You're soo close to day 30! It helps me to keep going by seeing how far you've gone. Try not to worry about the junk food. I was bad too. We just have to put it behind us and try our best to do better.
MINDI--Sorry, I don't know about the Slim in 6, but please let us know what you think when you get them!
JACKSONMOM--How are you doing?
Ok ladies, I'm outta here. Gotta get some stuff done and then hopefully get in another workout!
06-08-2003, 03:42 PM
thanks for the nice welcome ladies.
i'm a video exercise addict! my main loves are the firm and cathe friedrich, because she does gym style weight training, so the slim series will be a different type of program for me, but now and then, change is GOOD!
how much weight training does Power 90 offer?
06-08-2003, 05:26 PM
Well, I havent even gotten in one workout today. I still feel awful. :( What was just a sore throat is now also a continual runny, stuffy nose. It's driving me crazy because I have so much I want to do. (including my workout) I think it's just sinuses but it's making me miserable. I've only had to work 2 days in the last 2 weeks but of course, now that I feel bad, tomorrow is a day I'm scheduled. Isnt that just my luck?? My throat does feel much better tho.
I did buy some 5 lb weights last nite. I dont think the 3 lb ones were accomplishing much.
I just took some Tylenol Sinus so hopefully this will start clearing up shortly. I really do want to get that workout in but I dont want to get worse and end up missing more than one day for sure. I'll ck in later and let ya'll know how the med worked and whether or not I was able to do my Arms tape.
PS...I love coming in and finding so many posts!! :)
06-08-2003, 07:12 PM
Did get in my Day Six workout today. So, one full week completed, on track and on schedule. Feels so nice!
I did well with the eating last night at the Bridal Shower. I had some apples, pretzels and a couple of chips (maybe 5 at most). Then I had the "top" off a cupcake and threw away the rest. I probably could have foregone the frosting, but I wanted a little of it because it was my favorite--yellow cake and chocolate frosting. Yummy.
I did have two beers, but both were "lite". I came home and drank 32 oz of water, and have had over 64 so far today.
I am fixing turkey breast, green beans, corn, stuffing (for my hubby) and cranberry sauce for dinner. We are moving in about a month into our new home (if it gets finished in time) and we have so much food in our freezer and pantry that I don't want to move. So, it Thanksgiving in June at my house tonight.
Susanne: Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am not going to weigh again until day 30! I will also consult my measurements at that point. I do believe more about fitting into my old clothes that are too tight. I just packed up two boxes of clothes that I can't fit anymore and my goal is to get into those clothes by the end of the year. I should be able to make it.
Miki: Sorry to hear you are feeling ill. I hate HATE hate working out when I am sick. Plus, with sinus crud you can't hardly breathe so it's real tough to work out. Hope you feel better quickly.
Mindi: I think there is enough weight workout with P90. The other ladies here will probably agree with me on that. I also used to do Body for Life, but find this more to my liking. I am also a video addict. Billy Blanks has been my friend for years.
Well, off to cook the turkey. Hope you all had a nice weekend.
06-08-2003, 09:30 PM
Well, I did get in the workout afterall believe it or not and I think I actually felt better doing so. It was the Arms tape and I love using the weights on that one. :strong:
Chach....your "thanksgiving" dinner sounds yummy. Today it was kinda "fend for yourself and eat whatever you can find"..
Well, just wanted to ck in and let ya'll know I was able to do my workout.
Be back tomorrow...
06-08-2003, 11:37 PM
Everyone sounds like they're having some good days! I spent the day at a track meet for 5th and 6th graders (it was a fund raiser to promote health and fitness to kids). It was HOT...it was MUGGY...and I had to stand all day...(UGH) :tired: I was the "official photographer" so I did alot of walking around. I know that if I had not been working out for the last 3 weeks, I would never have made it. I would have petered out in the first hour, I'm sure.
Anyway, now for role call... :drill:
SUSANNE-As I said before, I didn't realize until the other day that you had started over, but I'm SO glad you did! Would hate to lose ya! I think we all have that wonderful junk-food-craving thing going on...I'm just glad i'm not alone in having to fight it off!
MIKI-Glad you're feeling a little better! Gotta watch those workouts while you're sick...the body's trying to fight off the bug, so ya don't wanna take away from it, ya know? You are quite the dedicated lady! I need to be more like you with the self discipline.
CHACHEE-Congrats on your full week of workouts! I know my first full week felt AWESOME. I actually felt like I accomplished something for a change (with my health anyway). By the way...when you inviting the gang over for dinner???? Turkey...stuffing....uuummmmmm...... :goodvibes:
MINDI-I'm right there with ya, sweetheart! Love those exercise tapes! I have a full library and still have a big ol' butt.... :o haha
I have the FIRM tapes (I actually have the very first 3 that came out 15 years ago or so!!!) Tae Boe...Walk away the pounds....Tamilee Webb tapes (Buns of steel...Abs of steel...thighs of steel...) I got 'em all I think! But I will be the first to say there is something different about the beachbody tapes...I guess we will see!! :crossed:
JACKSONMOM---Hope ya stay with us!!!
Okay, it's 11:30pm Sunday night...time for me to get some ZZZZZ's!!!
Have a good Monday ladies
06-09-2003, 07:11 AM
Well, I didn't get in my 2nd workout yesterday. BUT we did go bike riding as a family for about an hour after dinner, so I think that counts for something. I haven't been on my bike in 10 years!!!!! It's been in the shed since we moved here. I have to clean it off today. DH just pumped up the tires, but it's covered in cobwebs (didn't have time to clean it last night).
Well, I think I lost about 5 pounds yesterday--I got my hair all chopped off!!!! It was a couple of inches below my shoulders and now it's just a little bit below my ears!
Now REALLY, I DO have GREAT news! I had bought some skorts a few weeks back. I could barely squeeze into them--like it was REALLY difficult to get the zipper done up and there was no way I would be able to wear them for any length of time. (I REFUSED to buy the bigger size!!! ) Yesterday I tried them on and the zipper went up pretty easy! I still couldn't wear it for a great length of time, but it fit a lot better. So I say "THIS PROGRAM WORKS!!!" I've even had some really bad eating but it seems like the pants-o-meter is showing improvement.
KRISTIN--That's wonderful that your stamina has gotten better! You're not even at day 30 yet, but your health has improved! That's Isn't it amazing to realize the changes that are being made? We'll get those cravings licked soon! I just felt I had to start over cause I had too many days without working out. But I'm seeing myself not wanting to miss a workout now!
MIKI--Sorry you're still not feeling well. I agree with COACHSWIFE--don't overdo it when you're sick-your body needs the energy to heal. So you might have to keep it down to just ONE workout a day;) I'm really proud of you for getting in your workout yesterday! Did you use the 5 pounders? How did that go?
CHACHEE--HOORAY! for you for getting in your first week! I guess we're at the same place now. Your eating at the shower doesn't sound too bad. Don't beat yourself up over it. It will take time for us to undo the bad habits and replace them with good ones. Your turkey dinner sounds de-lish! You can add me to the dinner guest list!
MINDI--I have a drawer full of exercise videos too! I found a lot of them that I couldn't do very well--a lot of dance type steps and I"m NOT co-ordinated! But like COACHSWIFE, I find there's something different about these Power 90 videos. Maybe it's because you're not doing any one move for a great length of time. The half hour just seems to go soooo fast and is enjoyable. I like the weight training in Power 90. I like that someone else is telling me what to do and when. I was trying to do Body for Life at home last year, but I like doing the Power 90 better.
JACKSONMOM--How was your weekend? Let us know how you're doing!
Ok, I better get going and get the little guy ready for school.
Hope you all have a POWERful day!
06-09-2003, 10:40 AM
Oh I hate that dancy stuff too! and I REALLY HATE step areobics!!!!!!!!
but I also love Taebo..its really the only kind of cardio that doesn't bore me to death. lol
Should have Slim Series waiting for me tonite...fingers crossed!
06-09-2003, 02:55 PM
Just finished my cardio! Doing that power yoga I actually yelled at the TV "I hate you Tony!". But really I love him for working me so hard! It feels so good afterward.
MINDI--:crossed: Here's hoping you get your program today!
Gotta cool down before getting the little guy from school. Hope you're all having a POWER day!

Hello PowerGirls. Sounds like we are all doing good! Dinner was good, and I only had one plateful of food. It's wasn't even really a full plate. Then we went to the post office, ran our errands, came back home and went swinging in the park and for a walk around the pond. It was nice.
Put the little man down for a nap so I can now do my workout. He loves to jump on my back when I am doing the push ups. Makes it kinda tough.
Miki: Glad you are feeling better. Hooray for keeping on track when you are under the weather.
Coach: Good for you on the fitness outing. I'm so glad you were able to make it the entire time. Isn't amazing how we can do things now that we couldn't just a short while ago? I packed up my clothes that were too tight, but kept two pairs of shorts and a pair of jeans down that I am hoping to fit into before my vacation in August.
Susanne: Excellent on the skorts! Isn't that great? My biggest indication that I am losing is how my clothes are/aren't fitting. Like I told Coach, I am hoping to get into some short and jeans that I could wear two years ago but not since then. In two or three more weeks you'll need a belt for them!
Mindi: I hear you on the step aerobics. Those could go away forever as far as I am concerned!
Well, off to do Circuit 1-2 and then go to work.
Have a great day.

Hi ya'll! :)
Had a long day at work..worked 10 a.m. til 7 pm. with my nose running the whole time...yuckkkk. It was miserable! Anyway, I managed to get in my Abs workout tonite after resting a little while. Just finished and I'm off tomorrow. Hooray! Hoping to feel well enough to go to my hair appt...new highlites are way over due.
Sounds like this whole group is really doing great with the exercising these days.:bravo:
Not going to take time to post individually tonite but I do hope you all have a great day tomorrow! Let's keep up the good work, Power Girls!!:D
06-10-2003, 07:14 AM
Ok I got the Slim Series last night but since I have a bad cold, all I could do was watch! :( Debbie has some interesting ideas about how to work abs that I've not heard of before..she doesn't like using weight to build up muscle there..and its my worst body part! All my fat hangs in my belly sooo I'm going to enjoy this idea, rather than using so much resistance doing all this ab stuff.
The workouts are tough, and I love that! Love being sore!!! Sick huh? LOL They're a bit longer than I may have time for, some of them anyway. May have to break them into 2 segments.
Overall, I give them a thumbs up and I'm keeping them! Hooray! I love it when I find a winner at a bargain!
06-10-2003, 09:32 AM
I just finished my weight circuit. I upped the weights a little, so now I'm using 5 and 7 pounders (was using 3 and 5). Boy, could I feel that workout! I'm going to try to go up a little every week or so.
I had to get my workout in early. The inlaws are coming in for the day and then will be coming to watch DS at soccer this evening. I like getting in the early workout and I'm proud of myself for not putting it off and using the inlaws as an excuse NOT to workout.
MINDI--Glad you got your program, but sorry to hear you're sick. Summer colds are the worst! Get feeling better soon. Once you get into the Slim in 6, we'd love to hear about it! The one thing I really like about the Power 90 is the little gauge or tracker thing at the side. It shows how much you have to do, how much you've accomplished and how much time is for each exercise and total time left. Do you have this on your program?
MIKI--:bravo: to you for working out after working such a long day, especially with your cold. See my post to MINDI--do you have that gauge thing with your program?? I'm trying to get more info on these programs in case I want to order them in the future. I really like that gauge--I look at it and say "I'm that far already?" Have fun at your hair appointment.
CHACHEE--Your trip to the park sounds nice. I can just picture a little person hopping on your back! I don't think I could do one pushup with my little guy on my back!
I better get in the shower so I'll be done before the inlaws get here. Don't want them walking in on me :o
06-10-2003, 01:15 PM
Thanks Zanne! Taking my Vit. C and cold meds. blech!
This is the Slim Series, a bit different than Slim in 6, from what I've heard. I think its the next step after one completes a rotation of the Slim in 6 program.
I'm interested in Power 1/2 Hour too. Time is always a problem!! Anyone try that program?
06-10-2003, 06:17 PM
Howdy Power Girls,
Just finished my cardio. Was a little tough today, because we ended up walking before and then went right for the cardio once my friend left. Now that I switched the P90 workouts to once my son goes to sleep, I end up working out with my friend for a long walk at a good cardio level with lots of inclines. It's about 1.25 miles, almost all uphill and we do it in 18 minutes. Feels pretty good.
Mindi: Glad you got your tapes. Let us know how they are! Hope you feel better soon!
Miki: Did you get your hair done? I so enjoy my times when I go to the hairdresser. Feels like being pampered! My hair is long, so when she does my hi-lites, my cut and dry, it ends up taking us about three hours. I love it, though, because they serve lattes and fruit and dessert there. Oh, what a nice treat for me. I only have it done about three or four times a year because she does such a great job and my hair doesn't grow too quickly.
Susanne: I was thinking of upping my weights, but I think I'll wait until the first two weeks in officially. I use the 5 pounds the entire way through. Those shoulder raises are a killer! Good job on getting in your workout early.
Coach: How you doing?
Off to get ready for work.
06-10-2003, 09:11 PM
Hi Power Girls!
Mindi, so glad your tapes arrived! Hope you get well very soon so you can join us. I have the Power Half Hour ones. Fri will be the end of week 2 for me and so far I love them. Like Power90, it also has the little marker on the side of the screen to let you know how much you've done and how far you still have to go to finish. That helps keep me motivated being able to see that marker go down to zero...my favorite time..lol Like you, being sore makes me feel like I've actually accomplished something.
I did get my highlights done which always makes me feel better. I need to tell my hairdresser about the 'lattes and desserts' thing tho.
Still have lots to do before bedtime so cant stay long tonite. Looking forward to hearing from all of you again tomorrow.
06-11-2003, 06:08 AM
Just wanted to check in...haven't done so well lately with the exercising...had company since Thursday, and it makes it hard to "escape" for any exercising. Getting ready to leave this morning for the campground! (Won't be getting in any P90 there, but at least I will be doing alot of hiking). It's my 5th anniversary on Friday! (2nd marriage... :yikes: )
Anyway, hope everyone is okay....will catch you all when I get back.
06-11-2003, 07:35 AM
Well I'm feeling better today. Tonite when I get home, I'm going to try one of the SS. Will let you know how it is!
06-11-2003, 12:59 PM
I can't believe how many pages we have! Go Power Girls!
Just checking in. Still have to get in my workout, but I plan on doing it real soon.
MINDI--Glad you're feeling better. The Power 90 workouts are only about 30 minutes--at least for the first part. I'm still on 1-2. I don't know how long 3-4 is supposed to take. Can't wait to hear what you think of your program.
COACH--Happy Anniversary:balloons: Sounds like you'll be getting your workouts this weekend! Have fun camping. You'll get back on track next week--we'll all make sure of it!:s:
MIKI--I oh so love that marker! 30 minutes on the elliptical seems so LONG, even with music playing. 30 minutes with Power 90 seems to whiz by. You'll have to post a pic of you and your new do! We are all special and deserve to be pampered sometimes.
CHACHEE--You're doing double duty like MIKI! Good for you for doing Power 90 after walking! I found it more difficult using the heavier weights, but I felt like it was a REALLY good workout.
Ok gang, I better go get the rest of the groceries put away and then workout!
06-11-2003, 05:49 PM
I am happy to report that I almost made it through all the pushups today. I have always had a problem doing pushups, but I did them all this time except for the "close" ones. Those are really hard for me and I only got 5 of them in the end. Almost all!
Coach: Congrats on your anniversary! My hubby and I will celebrate our 4th this October. Are you going to start over on the P90 program once you get back or just pick up where you left off?
Mindi: Glad you are better. Did you try to the tapes?
Miki: Definitely talk to your hairdresser about the lattes and desserts! Such a treat. I am in total agreement about the markers on the videos. I can't wait for each of those bars to turn red!
Susanne: Got another "double duty" in today. I like it when we do our cardio walk on the days that I have the Sculpt tapes. It helps to warm up my muscles and I feel better. Sometimes the Cardio and the walk do me in a little.
Well, just finished up the Sculpt. Going to get a shower and scoot off to work. Have a great day!
06-11-2003, 08:05 PM
well girls I'm happy to report that the slim series is DEADLY! I did "Tone it Up" tonite..well as much as I could DO and I'm an experienced exerciser!!!! Granted I still have a cough and I'm stil probably only 65% recovered, but DANG its hard...that terrorist Debbie, (LOL), uses only 3-5lb weights throughout and I'm a woman who normally does squats at 70lbs w/a barbell and curls 25lb dumbells and I was DYING!!
Good to change stuff up now and then tho, isn't it?
I love working out at home and I really enjoy a decent video as a partner and a tool too!
06-11-2003, 10:21 PM
Wow! So many posts! Cool... Sounds like everyone is really pepped up about their exercising and doing a great job so far...Hooray for us! Today was my Buns workout and I'm hoping it doesnt kill me by tomorrow like it did last time. I'm off tomorrow tho so it'll be ok. I'm thinking about going to visit my sis who lives in Shreveport, LA...that's her baby girl Kaylen in the pic with me. :) That's about 2 and a half hrs from me.
Mindi, so glad you're feeling better! Dont overdo it. Sounds like your tape is really tough.
Chachee, I'm impressed that you made it thru all the pushups! I can finally do the ones on my knees but still have to rest some during that part. I cannot do the real ones at all!
Kristin, Happy Anniversary! We will celebrate our 19th on June 22:o Seems impossible that it could have really been that long already. Have a great time on your campout.
Susanne, did you get that workout in? I can tell a big difference since I changed from 3 lb to 5 lbs weights. I liked it better tho. Did your inlaws enjoy the soccer game the other nite?
I hope I didnt forget anyone..lol Our group has grown so much.
Gotta run for now...
06-12-2003, 07:06 AM
I just love coming here and reading about everyone! It truly helps me to keep going!
Got in my workout yesterday. I really don't like that Power yoga! But I'll keep trying and I know it'll get easier. I already see improvements in other areas where I couldn't do much at all. Even seeing these little improvements is a great motivator.
MIKI--Got my workout in even tho I had had only a couple hours sleep. DH didn't do his workout. He wimped out and he had lots of sleep. The inlaws enjoyed watching all the little guys doing their best at soccer, thanks for asking. WOW! 19 years married. You must have been 12 when you got married. We just had our 14th in May, but we've been together for 22 years:eek: Is this a different sis you are going to visit? You are/were exercising with a sister weren't you? Anyway, have a safe trip and a nice visit.
MINDI--Just take it easy if you're still a little sick. You want to get well and not prolong it. I thought the Power 90 was tough and here you are being challenged by itty bitty dumbbells. I think I'm a long way off from doing that Slim series! Sqauts with 70lbs??!!! I can barely do them with no weights! You rock!
CHACHEE--Way To Go in doing those pushups! I thought they were so easy till my friends corrected my form--Now I can do most of them--the close ones ARE a killer.
Looks like we kinda lost a couple people that had popped in. If you guys are lurking or any one else, please feel free to jump in. The more the merrier!
Gotta go. Have a good day all!
06-12-2003, 06:11 PM
Hello Power Girls!
Just did my Cardio and Abs. I totally agree with you on the Power Yoga, Susanne. If I could only stay in Up Dog all the time, I would be fine. It's that swinging the leg through from runner's pose that kills me. Plus, my hands are sore when I finish from all those pushups disguised as yoga! Ha!
Day 11 is done. I am over 1/9th of the way done. Still am thinking I will take off Friday this week because I have to work until 12:30 am tonight then be back at work in 7.5 hours for a day shift. I will probably be very tired come time to work out tomorrow.
Mindi: Wow, sounds like those Slim tapes are a good workout. Might have to check them out once I am done with P90.
Miki: Sounds like fun visiting your sister. Are you going to be able to work out when you are there?
I am thinking of moving my weights up to 8 pounds next week. I will probably move up to the 3-4 series by the end of my first 30 days. I find I'm not sweating as much this week as last week.
Well, off to shower then to work.
06-12-2003, 10:12 PM
Hi all...only time for a quick post. I did go visit my sis ( I have 3 younger sisters, by the way, and this one is the youngest...she's 24) and brought my 2 yr old neice Kaylen home with me. That's her in the pic with me...isnt she a cutie?? Anyway, that's why I cant post much. She wants to help type.:dizzy: I havent done any workouts today. I was on the road driving for a total of almost 6 hours. I am going to try to do the Stretch tape tho before I head to bed. I have to take Kaylen back Saturday.
Still sounds as if everyone is going strong. That's great!
Better run for now..
06-13-2003, 07:22 AM
Well, I was a bad girl and didn't get my workout in yesterday:( Stuff just happened and I didn't have time and then when I was ready, my throat was getting real sore, so I made some hot green tea and watched DH do his workout! Had planned on exercising after DS's soccer, but was too tired.
Today my sore throat is gone, I feel good and I WILL get my workout in! I have to do it early cause we're going to my folks this afternoon for Father's day dinner. CAN'T HAVE ANY EXCUSES TODAY! I'll use yesterday as my "off" day.
MIKI--YES! Your wee niece is a real cutie! That's nice of you to give your sister a little break by taking Kaylen for a couple of days. Running around after her will give you lots of exercise!
CHACHEE--I hear you girl! I don't know what it is--my arms aren't long enough or something--but I can't swing my leg thru with the ease everyone on the video does. I can't get it thru at all. I always come up short. We'll just have to keep working on it and we'll get better.
I'm gonna go and get in my workout in a few minutes--right after DS is finished watching Scooby Doo!
Keep up the hard work Power Girls and we'll be looking GREAT in no time!
06-13-2003, 08:07 AM
Hi girls. I'm finally BACK in the game. I decided to give my lungs a rest last night and not try another Slim Series, since I was still coughing, so I dug out one of my Corey Everyson, "Get Hard," tapes and did arms and shoulders. She does a fast-paced, 30 minute biceps, triceps and shoulders by doing supersets of 3 sets of 12 reps for each exercise.
Got a really nice burn and sweat going, felt GOOD after nearly 9 days of hap-hazard attempts to work out.
Next week, SS, here I COME! :)
Have a good and safe weekend!
06-13-2003, 09:52 AM
Just finished the weight circuit! Hooray for me! I'm gonna have to increase my weights ALREADY for the back exercises :strong:
I might try to get in another workout later, if time and circumstances permit.
MINDI--I think it was wise to give yourself a bit of a break so your body can get well. You'll do great next week.
Bye for now gang:)
06-14-2003, 10:13 AM
Just finished cardio/ab work. I HATE power yoga! Oh well, we gotta do what we gotta do! I didn't get in a second workout yesterday, so I guess Thursday was my "off" day.
Checked my measurements yesterday and I've lost a total of 3 1/2 inches in two weeks!
We're going to a pool party this afternoon. The sun is just now breaking thru after several dreary days. Supposed to get nice and warm. I'm bringing a special cake and some balloons as 5 of the gang that will be there turn 40 this year. I thought it would be fun if we all celebrated together. I'll try to be good and only have a wee piece of cake.
Hope every one has a wonderful weekend. Power on, Girls!
06-15-2003, 02:09 PM
I had a wedding yesterday and was running all over the place, so I did not get a chance to post.
Got in the Cardio yesterday, by the skin of my nose!
Real busy here with Father's Day things, but I wanted to check in.
06-15-2003, 09:55 PM
Hi Power Girls!
Well, even with Kaylen here, yesterday is the only day I missed doing my workout and to make up for it, I did yesterday's and today's both today. Thurs nite she did the Stretch tape with me...it was the cutest thing seeing her do it! She was really serious about it too. I couldnt let her see me laugh.
Eating wise for the most part I've done really well for the last few days EXCEPT yesterday. Luke, my 11 yr old, and I ate at Red Lobster on the way home from Shreveport, and I had the Shrimp Pasta. Full order too, not half.:o I was soooooooo full afterwards. But it was worth it.:s:
Friday was the end of my 2nd week doing Power Half Hour. So far, my measurements havent seemed to change. I'm going to take an "after" pic anyway I think just to compare again. Hopefully at least if I havent gotten smaller, what I've got is toned more.
Well, better run. After being off for most of the last 3 weeks, I have to go back tomorrow and work everyday for the next few weeks. I've gotten spoiled to being off, for sure. I dread tomorrow already. I'm 'part-time' but usually work everyday except during times my kids are out of school. This summer tho I'm filling in for several people's vacations which means working 2 weeks then being off a few days, then working 2 weeks again. Cant complain..Im lucky to even be able to be off that much.
Take care everyone and have a great Monday!
06-16-2003, 07:09 AM
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Well, I was a bad girl yesterday. Didn't do my workout. No particular reason, other than I really, really wasn't interested. I'm thinking of doing 2 workouts today. DH is working extra this evening, so I know I'll do a workout then and I think I'll do one early, after taking DS to school. I'll let you all know!
I was tempted to get on the scale yesterday, but decided not to. That old metal monster just plays head games with me. I'll go by how my clothes fit.
We finally had some nice weather here this weekend. Went to a pool party on Saturday and had a nice time with our friends. I brought dessert--a cake for the 5 people there that turn 40 this year. I had 2 small pieces. I did well with the rest of the food, veggies and fruit, salad, a bit of steak and a bit of salmon. I did have 2 drinks tho:o . Oh well, only do that once in a while. Oh, the bathing suit I wore seemed to fit nicer than I remember it doing when I bought it a couple of months ago!
MIKI--You are doing AWSOME with the exercise! Sorry the tape measure hasn't moved for you. I think I saw such a dramatic difference because when I took my first measurements, it was right before my TOM and I was probably all bloated. Good for you to set an example for your niece! I can just imagine her doing the workout with you! My DS sometimes does part of the workout with me and darn it all he can do the dreaded Power Yoga! I think having an "off day" for eating once in a while is a good thing. That way you don't feel like you're being deprived of anything.
CHACH--You sound busy! Hooray for getting in your workout!
KRISTIN--how was your camping weekend?
Ok Power People, I'm outta here for now. I promise to get in a workout this morning, and I really think I'll be doing one tonight. I have to keep that attitude, right?!!!!!
06-16-2003, 02:56 PM
I upped my weights today. Moved up from 5 to 8 pounds. Boy, I can really feel it now. It's all I can do on some of those exercises to get the last two reps in. I guess that's how it's suppossed to feel, huh? I would be willing to bet that I will be one sore puppy tomorrow. Grr...... Felt good, though.
Miki: Great job on the exercise! Don't stress about the tape measurer or the scales. I have packed, by mistake, my measurement book and I can't get to it for at least another month. I think that's a good thing. I would be real tempted right now to measure or weigh, but I'm staying off and waiting until the first thirty days to get my measurements.
Susanne: Good job on the eating. I had a couple of drinks at that party last weekend, but I don't do that but maybe twice a year so I didn't feel too bad. Congrats on the swim suit. It's a nice feeling, isn't it?
Coach and Mindi...where you at?
I exercised so much yesterday that I was sore this morning. Did the cardio, went walking and biking. I was actually able to make it up one of the big hills without feeling like I was going to pass out! I even did better than my husband who is in the military and totally athletic. Wahoo!
Check in later.
06-16-2003, 08:59 PM
Well back to work today after lots of time off lately. Wasnt looking forward to it but I was really busy so the day went by fast. I even got up at 6 a.m. and did my Abs tape before going to work at 8. Then hubby came in this afternoon at 5:30 ready to do his so I did it again with him.:strong: :cb:
Zanne, you have such willpower with those scales. I'm addicted to them..I step on them every time I happen to pass by them. I dont know why I do because they always make me mad but I cant seem to stop. Glad you had a good time at the pool party.
Chach, how cool you outdid hubby on the big hill. Dont you just love it?:D All that exercise plus upping your weights..WOW!
Kristin and Mindi...how are you girls? Getting in those workouts??
Well I think tonite I'm going to take time out for a bubble bath. I rarely do that but it sounds really good right now.
Bye for now
06-17-2003, 10:12 AM
Guys I had a really busy day at work yesterday, got home late and didn't have the time to do a 78 min SS workout, so I substituted one of my Firms. I really enjoy this one, Body Sculpting w/Jen, who's my fav Firm instructor. Its a good, solid total body workout and I'm a little sore this am.
Tonite I HOPE 'fingers crossed' to try one of them all the way through...if i can make it that is! LOL
06-17-2003, 05:58 PM
Hello Power Girls!
Let me just say this: POWER YOGA IS THE DEVIL! Heehee. I had a hard time with it today. Must be because the arms are a big fatigued from upping my weights yesterday.
Miki: Oh, a nice bubble bath sounds like heaven. I don't hardly ever have time for that. Great job on the workouts! You go!
Mindi: 78 minutes? Wow, that's a long workout. I've never heard of the "Firm" series. What is it? Aerobics or weights?
Susanne: Did you get your workout in? I know last time you said you hadn't and wasn't motivated. Need a kicker in the rear? Just kidding!
Well, Day 17 down, 73 more to go!!
06-17-2003, 10:23 PM
Hi Girls! Only have a minute so cant post much. I didnt make that bubble bath last nite so I got smart. Today I came home and did that FIRST!!:D I got up at 6 a.m. again today and did my Thigh workout. It's cool getting it out of the way early in the day. I'm so tired after working all day that Im scared if I wait I might not have enough motivation to get it done. Had Mexican for lunch tho so foodwise I didnt do great.:^: Well gotta run for now...I'll post more tomorrow.
06-18-2003, 09:02 AM
Chachee, the Firm is a series of workouts that combines areobics w/weights, however some of the workouts are all weight training too. They use a tall step called a 'fanny lifter,' that is killer for buns and legs. An excellent series! You can catch the newest set on their infomerical, seen on Lifetime most frequently or go here:
http://www.firmdirect.com/homepage.asp to read up on the company. I've been using their videos since the 80's. but if you decide to buy, I suggest getting their products from www.collagevideo.com. They're MUCH more reliable and faster to order from. They'll also match prices!
yes the SS is LONG! I'm going to have to often split the workout. Thank God for DVDs! I'm very very sore today after working in my yard, weeding and doing an intense leg workout yesterday. Didn't do a video, just didn't feel like it. Instead I did my own thing and worked out w/my step, barbell and body bar. I use it to help me get a perfect lunge and my legs are FEELING it today!
Tonite I think I'll do the stretch SS video. Should help the soreness.
Gotta get control of my food too!
have a good day!
06-18-2003, 09:08 PM
I got my cardio walk in and the Circuit tape also. Still at that 8 pound weight, and the last couple of reps are still killing me. I guess that's good, huh?
Miki: Great job on the exercise. I agree with you that I always feel better once the workout is done and in the books early in the day. For me, that means getting it done by 10:00 am, as I work evenings.
Mindi: Thanks for the info on the Firm series. I think I'll scoot on over there and check it out. Anything to lift my fanny is much appreciated!! Sounds like your workouts are doing well also.
Well, busy here at work, but wanted to check in.
06-19-2003, 09:19 AM
Well, I found my way back here. I kind of felt not worthy enough to post. I have been bad and hadn't been exercising. I was so psyched up to do 2 workouts Monday and that fell thru after I had to take some allergy meds and I was a slug all day. Tuesday it was like a train station with people in and out of our house. Yesterday, I don't really have an excuse.
BUT I EXERCISED THIS MORNING!!! I've still been reading all your posts and you've kept me inspired. MIKI and CHACH--I'm going to have to be like you and MAKE myself workout early. Otherwise I won't get it in. As I was heaving the dumbbells off the rack, they felt really heavy and I thought I'd have to lessen the weights. But I made it thru with the heavier weights.:strong:
It's going to take me a while to develop this new habit of exercising. I've decided to not start all over again with my 90 days, but to just pick up where I left off. The good thing is that I've exercised more in a month than I have in a year. I want to give myself a great 40th birthday present of good health and fitness and I've only got 10 more months to do it.
CHACHEE--please feel free to kick me in the rear anytime!!! Sometimes I need a little help getting started.
MIKI--Glad you got your bubble bath. We have to remember to take some time for ourselves.
MINDI--WOW! Doing your own thing! I don't think I could workout on my own. I need someone there to tell me what to do-even if the someone is on my TV.
You all are so inspiring. I think all of your posts help me get back on track.
Well, better go and get my chores done.
Have a GREAT day everyone!
06-19-2003, 06:35 PM
Good afternoon, Power Girls.
Well, after a two hour argument with myself on the pros and cons of working out today or taking today as my day off, I finally got off my big ol' butt and did the cardio and abs. Something about that Power Yoga that was whispering in my ear saying, "Aw, come on, you deserve to take your day off today." Damn Yoga!
Actually, once I got in and played the DVD, the yoga didn't seem to be a problem today. I notice as my push ups get stronger, the power yoga gets a little easier. Now, I'm not saying it's a breeze...Lord knows it's not, but it isn't as hard as it was three weeks ago.
Susanne: Did we start P90 on the same day? I started June 2nd. I think that's the day you did also. That makes us good partners. We all get down and off track, but the important thing is to pick yourself up out of the slump and get back on track. You did that and now we can move forward! I know you can do it!
Gotta head over to Ebay and big on some Shrek stuff for my son's bday. He loves it and it's old enough now that Shrek stuff isn't actively stocked in the stores. Off to Ebay....
I think I will try to last until Sunday for my day of rest. I hope I can make it. That will be three weeks down!!! 21 days out of 90! Wahoo!
06-19-2003, 09:49 PM
Hi Girls! I didnt make it in to post yesterday because my cousin/best friend is in from California. She moved there this past Oct and until then we have always lived within 5 miles of each other. Needless to say we had LOTS of catching up to do. I did exercise yesterday morning but havent gotten in any today. This is actually my 'rest day' but so far I've always at least done a stretch tape on that day. Not sure if I'll work that in this time or have a REAL rest day. I do have to confess...my eating is AWFUL right now. Since Vicki (my cousin) was here last nite, of course we had to eat. Today was a co-worker's last day so we had a going away party with more food. Saturday I have a family reunion with MORE food.:dizzy: Oh and I keep forgetting Sunday is my anniversary. Starting Monday, I've got to get strict again with my food plan!!
Susanne, I turned 40 in March. That's exactly why in October I started trying to get healthier and eat right and exercise etc. I was panicking because everyone says it is harder after 40. I have to say I do feel much better now than I did this time last year for sure. This time next year, you'll be glad you did this also. :)
Mindi, I think I might try the Firm series once I finish the Power Half Hour. I've heard good things about it.
Chach...good for you for doing that Power Yoga today! How did your search for Shrek go? Find any cool stuff on Ebay?
Where's Kristin??? I hope she's doing well.
Tomorrow is Friday..HOORAY!!:D (and also the end of week 3 for me)
06-20-2003, 07:29 AM
yes were are all the power girls? took last night off, tonite is Taebo Impact. Love the boxing/kicking w/my bag! Lots of stress is released there and after this workweek, I NEED IT!
Have a GOOD weekend everyone!
06-20-2003, 11:36 PM
Howdy Power Girls!
Well, ended up taking today off because my hubby had the day off and we were slugs. Just kinda hung out in our pj's before I had to go to work. I'll get those workouts in this weekend.
Mindi: I love the Taebo tapes also. Really helps me get out my frustrations!!
Miki: Found some cook stuff, but not ready to bid on it yet. It doesn't go off for another few days, but it looks like some cook action figures. Happy early Anniversay!
Well, back to work. Keep up the exercise and let's all work on the eating!
06-22-2003, 10:18 PM
Well did two workout tapes yesterday ( stretch and arms ) BUT havent done any today.:^: My eating has still been awful the last several days BUT tomorrow is back to business on that!
Instead of doing something by ourselves for our anniversary today, Phil and I took the kids to see The Hulk" and then to eat Chinese. Now I'm too full to exercise.:dizzy:
Chachee, lounging around in pjs sounds like the life to me!;)
Mindi, I've never tried Taebo. Does sound like a good stress reliever tho.
Susanne and Kristin, hope you two had a nice weekend.
Talk to you powergirls tomorrow.
06-23-2003, 12:45 AM
Ended up doing the weights yesterday and cardio today. So, Friday was my day off this last week. I am going to be challenged this week as I am working a day shift for training purposes at work and will need to get my workouts in at night time.
Hope everyone is doing well!
06-23-2003, 10:31 PM
Well, I didnt get my workout in yesterday or today. I worked from 8 a.m. til 6 p.m., then we went out to eat and ran by to see Vicki one more time before she leaves for California tomorrow. Just got home and it's 9:30 already so I guess yesterday will be last week's rest day and today is this week's. Tomorrow I'll be sure to do it before work instead of waiting. Too many things get in the way by afternoon and nite.
Gotta run...lots to do before bedtime.
06-24-2003, 06:59 AM
It seems it's going to take me some time to make this exercising a habit. Whatever the excuses, I missed 4 days in a row. I did one day and then missed 3 more days. I was embarassed to come here to post that I did nothing, cause you all are so dilegent with your workouts.
I started again yesterday. I haven't given up, so I guess that's a good thing. I've buddied up with someone who is also starting over, so I think that we can keep each other motivated.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the cardio today. There's a lot of jumping and other things that might stress my knees. I did something to one knee yesterday while doing squats. I had to put a brace on it for a bit. The slightest wrong move sent pain shooting up my leg. It feels ok this morning, but I"m not sure yet just how good. I may do a half hour of the elliptical as my cardio.
MIKI--Glad you had a good time with your sister.
CHACHEE--Schedule changes can be tough. You are very committed, so I'm sure you'll do well with your workouts.
MINDI--I'd love to do Taebo, but the kicks would wreck me. I have bad hips and knees. The little bit of kicking in Power 90 is about all I can manage, and even with toning it down some, one of my hips still pops. But I love the punches:s: Great way to get out frustrations.
Well, I just want to say "thank you" to you ladies. You keep me inspired even when I think I should just throw in the towel. I really want to complete my committment to myself of getting healthy and fit for my 40th.
I'll be back later!
06-24-2003, 09:11 AM
Zanne, now and then my sciatica acts up so I'm pretty careful w/the Taebo kicks too. There are days that I modify BIG time. But I still love Billy and his motivation is no. 1 for me.
Don't know if any of you are familar w/Cathe Friedrich, (www.cathe.com), I worked out w/her Pryamid Upper Body last night and am SORE today..I think I'll rotate her into a Slim Series 6wk plan and see what happens.
06-25-2003, 09:42 AM
Well, I didn't do the Power 90 cardio yesterday. BUT I DID do 20 minutes on the elliptical. At about 17 minutes I could feel twinges in the knee, so I didn't want to push it and really injure it. I'm going to try doing sculpt today, I'll just have to be careful with the lunges and squats.
It's been really hot here the past few days. Low to mid 90s. I'm really glad I do my exercising inside!
MINDI--I've heard sciatica can be painful. Poor you when you suffer with it. I'm careful with my knees and hips cause it seems my family is prone to bad joints. Several family members have had to have hip or knee replacements. I'd rather not go thru that.
How's everyone else doing?
I'm outta here. Got to get a few groceries before it gets too hot.
06-25-2003, 11:56 AM
Just a quick note for me today. I have been in an intense class all week and working days. I have been able to get some workouts in, but not as many as I would have liked to.
My brain is fizzling!! We had a two hour lecture yesterday on skin cells and when fingerprints are developed as a fetus when hands develop......long and boring.
Okay, I'll check in later when I have time.
06-25-2003, 10:35 PM
Hi Girls...just a very quick post. It's already getting late and I have a ton of stuff to do before bedtime as usual.
Zanne, dont feel bad and PLEASE dont ever not come post because you're embarrassed. I havent exercised since Saturday!:o :( I just cant seem to get up early enough this week to do it before work and then after work, I've been too tired. It didnt help that my sis has been on vacation and not here to keep me motivated to do it with her. She came home today tho, thank goodness!
I am so disgusted with myself for missing my 4th day of exercise today. I was doing so well I just cant give up now! Ya'll keep coming in here so I'll have inspiration from you girls ok??:D
Gotta run but I'll going to try to do better tomorrow. Either way tho I'll come check in.
06-26-2003, 07:00 AM
I think the main thing is that we don't give up. We might end up having a few "off" days, but I think as long as we get back to working out, we'll be ok.
I didn't get in a workout yesterday either. It's been really hot here and the pollution is bad--they're telling people with breathing and heart conditions to stay inside in air conditioned places and take it easy (I have asthma). I walked my DS to and from school (and coming home is almost all uphill), so about an hour walking in total. Maybe I can count that as a workout!:) I didn't feel quite right last night. I think even just the little bit I was out, the heat had got me. I know my back was burnt in that short time.
My knee still complained this morning when I came downstairs. So I think I will just do the dumbell lifting and maybe the dreaded pushups:p --just not the lunges and squats and then I can try to get in some time on the elliptical.
I'm hoping to stick to this game plan. As long as I make myself do something more than I normally do.
Gotta go now.
Have a great day Power Girls!
06-26-2003, 07:56 PM
Ok, bad as I didnt want to...I did a little exercise today!:cp: I didnt do my workout tape, but I did 20 min on my XL Glider. I was sweating in just that length of time. I know it's not much, but it's more than I've done all week! Now if I can just get the eating back on track. I only have to work 3 days next week so my sis and I plan to get back into heavy exercise again on the days I'm off.
Well not really any news or anything more to add so I guess I'll run for now.
06-27-2003, 07:09 AM
Well, I didn't get in any workouts as I had planned yesterday. Got a call from my mom in the morning that they had some kind of plumbing problem. So I went over and fixed it ...so I thought. I still had a leak in a connection and found I needed a part. DS had soccer last night, so we all went back after soccer to the folks' to finish the job. I did all the hard work and DH took 2 minutes to put in the new part! I have to go back today with our carpet cleaner to suck all the water that leaked into the carpet.
But I think my arms and back muscles got a good workout with those wrenches and all. I am sore today!
MIKI--Hooray for you for getting in some exercise. Good news you and your sister will be getting back on track next week.
06-27-2003, 09:54 PM
Just checking in....havent exercised yet but the nite isnt over. I hope everyone else is doing better than I am! I'll post more when I can..
06-29-2003, 01:08 PM
Wow, what a week I've had. I successfully passed the class with a 93%, third highest in the class. My brain is fried and I am looking forward to a day of just lounging! I had to work yesterday because we got backlogged while we were all in class.
My brother got in a bad motorcycle accident this week and ended up in the hospital and totalled his bike. He is okay, with a concussion and a sprained left wrist and a lot of road rash. He was turning a corner around 30 miles per hour and his front tire hit some gravel that had been used to fill in a hole in the road. He's contemplating suing the state, because the responding officer told him there had been six other accidents in that same spot in the last two weeks. I'm just glad he's okay.
I did not get any exercise in this week, so I am "redoing" this last week starting tomorrow. I just did not have the time and that is the truth. Just too much going on with working days and then overtime and then trying to fit in my time with my boys.
Just wanted to say I was back and am back on track as of tomorrow.
06-29-2003, 07:27 PM
Ok Chach....I'm with you. Starting tomorrow I am back in full gear as far as exercise!! Let's do it, ok?? I just have to and if I know someone else is in this with me, I am much more apt to continue. Accountability works wonders for me.
How are the rest of you ladies doing?? I havent exercised since I did the Glider the other day. Took my son to see "Rugrats" today, had Pizza Hut buffet for lunch and Baskin Robbins afterwards.:o Now you see why I just have to get back on track!
The weekend is almost over. Hope you all enjoyed yours.
06-30-2003, 07:29 AM
Ok Power Girls, I have to turn my power back on!
I haven't done any workouts since my elliptical last week. I need to get back in routine. Actually, I need to make a routine and stick to it. I think my knee is good now, so no excuses.
I probably won't be doing my workout till tonight. This is our long weekend up here. Gonna enjoy it. Supposed to be in the high 80's to low 90's this week!
Ok ladies, we can do this!
06-30-2003, 10:12 AM
Word on the street for you Power 90 girls, is that there'll be a new series soon. :)
06-30-2003, 11:24 AM
I can't even get thru the first half of this series! I've heard that the new one is a continuation. At least I know I'll have something to work towards with a new series.
06-30-2003, 10:02 PM
Well, I did it...I got back on track today!! Hooray!:D My sis and I did our Abs tape at 8 a.m. then I went to work at 10 and worked til 7 pm.
I had a grilled chicken salad for lunch and drank 64 ounces of water during the day. About an hour ago, my sis and I walked 2 miles. After that, I had a roasted chicken sandwich from Subway. I did have one mini hersey chocolate sometime during the day. Oh and for breakfast I had a scrambled egg and toast.
All in all, foodwise I did fine and back into my exercise! I'm thrilled that I could actually post something positive again for a change. Hope you all are getting into gear also. I'm off the rest of this week so I'll have no excuses not to continue.
I'll check in again tomorrow!
06-30-2003, 10:10 PM
I just tried to post, but it didn't show up! Sorry if this goes on twice.
I just finished sweating thru the Power 90 Sculpt. The knee felt a little funny, so I just wrapped it in the tensor and took it easy with the lunges and squats.
Man, I feel so good after a workout, so why don't I keep doing the workouts? I'll just HAVE to make it a good habit.
MIKI--Hooray for you getting in a workout today! And good eating too.
Hope everyone else got in a workout. If not, tomorrow is another day.
06-30-2003, 10:39 PM
Hello Power Girls!
Back on track today. Cardio and walking, so I am feeling good. I need to get the food back on track, but honestly, not that bad with the food.
Miki: Sounds like we are in the same spot. Accountability is the best. I'm not starting the entire 90 days over, I'm just pretending that last week didn't happen. Great job on the eating!
Susanne: So nice to know you are back on it also. Why is it that we all slipped at the same time? Darn those evil-doers that get in our brains.
I'm still getting back into the swing shift mode, so bear with me a couple of days. Back to posting on a daily basis and checking in with each other. Gotta be accountable!
07-01-2003, 09:41 PM
Hi again girls!
Zanne, me too...I feel so much better once I know I've gotten in that workout for the day! Kinda silly to skip it knowing that. Plus afterwards, I always think..Why oh why didnt I go ahead and do it??!! I feel awful about myself when I miss a day or two.(or 3 or 4..lol)
Chachee, It was pretty weird we all got sidetracked at the same time. We need to get our bad times on diff schedules so the one not doing so great can be motivated by the ones that are. Wonder how to get that worked out.
My eating wasnt quite as good today but I did do the Thigh tape this morning with my sis and then walked a mile tonite with hubby. Gotta work on the eating again tomorrow.
Mindi...how are things going with you? Come join us when you can. :)
07-02-2003, 10:49 AM
Hi everyone! Sorry I've been a bit awol. I'm a paralegal in a criminal defense law office and we've been terribly busy the past few months, I have a long commute and I spend most weekends w/my bf, plus I have a house, 2 dogs, etc to take of. Some days I just don't know where my time goes!!!!
You guys, the Slim Series is KILLER! If you like pain, get it. lol
I'm starting a new BodyRX challenge on Sunday, so I may have to put SS aside for a bit, but I'll go back to it. I'm trying to figure out a way to work it into the Bodyrx plan but I dunno if it'll work.
Everyone ready for the holiday weekend?
07-02-2003, 11:00 AM
Well, I got in the cardio/abs workout last night. Finished at 10:45pm:yikes: Of course I had to stay up a little to wind down. I still don't like the power yoga, but I can see little improvements in myself.
MINDI--WOW! You are one busy lady! Good luck with the new challenge. I've heard of Body RX but don't really know anything about it.
MIKI--Way to go for getting in another day of exercise. We'll just have to keep trying and we'll get there.
CHACHEE--I don't know why we all fell at the same time. Was it a full moon or something? At least we all seem to be back on track. My DH just started nights this week, and I'm still trying to get used to that!
Keep up the good work ladies! We'll be buff in no time!
07-02-2003, 08:07 PM
Only have a minute because I'm in the middle of grilling some steaks and it's almost time to take them up I think. So far so good foodwise. And I need the steak aka protein for "power" dont I?
My sis and I walked 2 and a half miles before 8 this morning then we did the half hour Arms tape. Only drank 34 ounces of water so far but that's better than I had been doing a week or so ago. I'll have more with my steak also.
Well better run before I burn those steaks.
07-02-2003, 11:49 PM
I did the Sculpt workout today. I'm seeing little improvements there too. Like I can do a couple more pushups and I think I'll soon have to increase my weights for some of the moves.
That's 3 days of working out in a row now.
Food is getting better. I still have to get in more fruits and veggies. Water is pretty good, some days better than others.
MIKI--Mmmmmm steak! I had a steak sandwich earlier. Sounds like you've got back on track and are doing well. Keep it up.
Ok, time for beddie bye.
07-03-2003, 09:44 PM
Once again, I only have time for a quick post but I wanted to check in at least. I did my Abs tape today but didnt get in any extras like walking, etc. Also, I had chinese buffet tonite and with all-u-can-eat buffets I never know when to stop.
Grilling hamburgers at the in-laws tomorrow for the 4th so the eating shouldnt be too bad. Hopefully she wont have some high calories dessert to tempt me. Probably not tho because she does everything lowfat.
Hope you all have a safe 4th of July!
07-04-2003, 06:04 PM
Hi everyone! Well I got up in time to do my Buns tape before going to the inlaws today so glad to have that out of the way. For lunch, I had a grilled hamburger, a handful of homemade french fries, and a slice of sugarfree strawberry pie. My mother-in-law had also made some sugarfree brownies and had sugarfree, fatfree vanilla ice cream to put on top. I didnt have any of those tho. The pie was really good.
How did everyone else's celebrations go? I hope you all are enjoying your day! Tonite we are going into town to watch the annual fireworks display.
I have to work tomorrow and Sunday, we have to take Josh, my 13 yr old, to basketball camp which is 2 hrs or so away. I'll have to try to get in some exercise somehow the next 2 busy days.
Looking forward to everyone's posts tomorrow!
07-05-2003, 03:15 AM
Hello Power Girls.
I've slipped this week again and need some butt kicks to snap me to attention. My son and myself have been sick and it's just zapped all my energy and I can't make myself get up and do the tapes.
I figured that I would celebrate this weekend and get back on it Sunday or Monday. I could have started tomorrow, but don't know how he is going to feel and it's hard to workout when your 23 month old is sneezing and nose is runny like a river.
Not trying to make excuses, just life happening!
I'll be back on track soon and wish you all the best of weekends and hope your 4th was safe and fun!
07-05-2003, 08:16 AM
Just checking in.
I've missed my workouts the past 2 days. No real excuses, I just feel like my energy is zapped. We've had a few days now where the pollution count is extremely high and those with asthma and other ailments are advised to be inside. I had a few errands to do, so I walked to do them--the places weren't that far away and I was doing my part for the pollution by NOT driving. I've played in the pool with DS and last evening I weeded the gardens. I'm thinking that maybe the pollution got to me (I have asthma) and that's why I feel zapped and I have a sore throat.
We'll see what happens today--I have great plans to get in two workouts, but we'll see:^:
CHACHEE--I hope you and your little one are feeling better real soon. It's probably a good idea not to push it and rest up till you're feeling stronger. Too bad you and your son were feeling yucky on a holiday.
MIKI--Good for you getting your workout in before the the inlaws. Did your MIL have all that sugar free stuff just for you, or do other family members eat sugar free too? Strawberry pie sounds wonderful! Sounds like you had a nice 4th.
We had our long weekend at the beginning of the week(July 1st is Canada Day). Sounds like we celebrate in the same way--BBQ and fireworks!
Ok, I've got stuff to do before the inlaws get here (they pop in every Saturday after they go to garage sales).
I'll check in later.
07-05-2003, 09:06 AM
Nothing wrong w/a couple days of rest. Did you know that your muscles grow only when they're at rest and can rebuild? So enjoy your couple days and relax. I'm doing the same and tomorrow its back to heavy strength training.
Have a great rest of the holiday everyone!
07-05-2003, 10:53 AM
I got in cardio/abs workout!!!!! Yeah me. We may go up to the inlaws later, so I made sure I got in a workout.
07-05-2003, 08:28 PM
Chachee, I'm going to let you slide by without a kick this time but only because you and your son have been sick which is a pretty good excuse.;) Just be sure to get on track as soon as you both feel better.
Zanne, same goes for you. It's really hard to workout when you're feeling bad and not good for you either if you push too hard. The strawberry pie was very good and not just made for me. My father-in-law has been on a diet because of high cholesterol and my mother-in-law has done low fat for the last 4 or 5 years. She lost about 50 or 60 lbs and has kept it off all this time.
Mindi, you're right about the rest. Tomorrow will be my rest day and tomorrow I'll just do my Stretch tape which is pretty relaxing. Back to the hard stuff Monday.
Well gotta run...Luke, my 11 yr old, is spending the nite with the inlaws since we have to take Josh, my 13 yr old, to basketball camp tomorrow and Luke hates to ride. I have to run him over there now.
Take care everyone
07-07-2003, 11:44 AM
WELL!!! Looks like everyone is busy getting in their workouts! :barbell: Congrats for sticking with it guys! :bravo: I know...I've been MIA for quite awhile. :o Am pretty ashamed for stopping my workouts when i had already made it to day 23...didn't want you guys knowing how bad I failed, I guess. :stress: Not that I think any of you would ever judge me or say anything bad, don't get me wrong!! I know how supportive you guys are...just really embarrassed with myself. :( I KNOW this program works. I KNOW I could lose weight and be strong. I KNOW how much better I would feel if I would get this weight off. So why don't I do it? No clue. Lazy is my biggest problem, I guess. We've been doing alot of camping in the last couple of months and you know you can't power 90 in the woods! lol (Be funny trying though, wouldn't it?)
I'm sorry you guys. I'm gonna make a STRONG effort to get back to Day 1 in the morning. (((groan)))
Susanne...my buddy.... just wanted to say thanks for all of your support. I appreciate you keeping after me!!! (Someone has to, eh?)
Okay, I'm GOING to get back at this thing :crossed: (I"ll keep telling myself that...)
THANK YOU GUYS for keeping at it and giving me some inspiration. :grouphug:
Ciao for now,
Kristin  :dancer: :cb: :flame: :flow2:
07-07-2003, 11:06 PM
Kristin, so glad you're back! :) Dont worry, we all have our setbacks..main thing is that we all eventually get back on track right?? Right!
Did my Abs workout at 6 a.m. this morning..YUCK! I hated every minute of it for sure, but I just knew this afternoon would give me even more reasons to not find time to do it. It was nice knowing all day that I had it done already. I'm going to TRY( not making promises...just TRYING) to get up and do that every morning this week since I have to be at work at 8. I'll let you know how I make it.
It's 10 pm already and I'm tired. I'll post more tomorrow.
07-07-2003, 11:57 PM
Welcome Back Kristin! Just get up and brush yourself off. Glad you're still with us.
MIKI--Yuck! 6am!!! But you are right about feeling good that it's all over and done.
CHACHEE--Hope you and your little one are feeling better
Well, I got in one workout on Saturday and nothing Sunday. Unless I can count the walking I did to do my errands. At least it was a little bit of something I guess.
Got in my sculpt today. I love sculpt days. They seem to go by so quickly.
My eating has been bad. Way too much chocolate and I was feeling really gross. Sunday dinner at my folks' wasn't great either. I'm back on track now tho. I need to get in more water too.
It's getting late and I better go. I just wanted to check in with you all.
07-08-2003, 02:52 AM
Hello Power Girls.
Well, it's official, we're all sick at my house. Knock down, drag out sick! I wish I could report that I got my workout in today, but with my fever rocking up to 102, I just didn't think the best thing was to get moving and hike it up. We must have all got the same flu bug, but gosh it's really hit us hard.
Coach: Glad to see you back! We all slide and it just takes time for us to get back into things. I'm glad you posted and it's a step in the right direction.
Miki: Thanks for letting me slide without a kick this time. I promise to get back on it once the fever has subsided! Sounds like you are doing well!
Susanne: Sounds like you are back on track. My eating has actually been good so far. Back off the sugar and caffeine, so I am feeling the headache, but will feel better once I get over my three day headache that has coincided with my flu bug.
Mindi: Great job on your workouts. Some of them sound killer!
I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and hoping that everyone is doing well!
07-08-2003, 01:45 PM
I've been lurking around the thread for awhile now. Don't know why I haven't joined in. I started Power 90 on June 19th so if I do my work-out tonight, today will be day 20. I purchased the tapes of of ebay so I only have levels 3-4 but I've been going at my own pace (couldn't resist the deal for $12.00) So so far I've completed 19 days and have taken off 5 days -- if I was on schedule I would have only taken off 3 days but weekends are tough. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed any progress. I know one person (can remember who right now) said they lost inches but no one else has mentioned anything. Unfortunately I didn't take my starting measurements. I may do that this week since I'm still new to the program. I know that I haven't lost weight. Some days the scale says I've gained 2 pounds -- hopefully muscle. My clothes aren't any looser either. With only being on day 20, I'm not worried -- it always takes me a long time to lose. Plus I don't have the greatest of eating habits. But most of you have been doing the program a little longer and I was just wondering if anyone has lost any weight or inches? One good thing is that now that I've been exercising fairly consistently, when I look in the mirror I see myself as being thinner, even though I'm not. The self confidence is worth it even if I don't lose a pound, but I'd still like to know if you guys have had any physical changes. Thanks everyone!
07-08-2003, 02:27 PM
Well its official, Slim Series is officially Killer. *S* I think I may invest in the Power Half Hour series..I could use that in my BodyRx plan I think.
Anyone have it?

Hey all! Thanks for the warm welcome back! :goodvibes: I am having SUCH a good day, I hope it can continue for awhile. :lucky:
MIKI-I always know you're gonna get your workouts in! You've got a heckuvalot more will power than I do...or someone has a foot up your behind!! :drill: How is your weight now? I know you were excited about being under 200...just wondering what the hateful ol' scales says now?
CHACHEE-Good grief! Girl, you definitely don't need to be workin' out with a temp that high! WHOA! :hot: Take it easy...Tony will wait for ya...hahahaha :faint:
SUSANNE-Glad you aren't giving up...I definitely need the inspiration! :high:
MAYDAY-Welcome aboard! Daaaaagggg...you STARTED with the 3/4 tapes???? :strong: That's pretty amazing, sheesh!!! I hope you can stick with it! If I had started with the 3/4, I'd be LONG done by now. I can tell you this...I was up to day 23 before I "fell off the wagon". I HAD lost a couple of inches...but I hadn't measured, so I can't tell you how much for sure. Keep it up though...I KNOW this program works, and if you can already do the 3/4, then you should be taking off some pounds pretty darn soon! Keep up posted, eh? :jig:
MINDI-What's up with the Slim in 6 Series? I heard it was a little tougher than Power 90...what's it like? :chin:
I still haven't made it through the Power 90 series, but I can't wait to see the PowerX...stupid, isn't it...hahahha :D
ANYWAY, if I missed someone, my apologies! It's been awhile since I've been here...I need a little time to catch up :O
Have a good day, ladies...I'm off to sculpt! :yikes:
Ciao for now...   :wizard:

Hello Power Girls!
Wahoo! Fever is gone. Stuffy head is still here and sore throat, but I GOT MY SCULPT IN TODAY! Wahooooooo!!! Oh happy day! I've decided that today is my start day. I am restarting and Coach and I will be around the same start time. I just figured that with two weeks off it would be better to start over. Darn, because I've already done the first 18 days, but I want to be 100% devoted to this program.
Coach: Glad that you are feeling good and having a good day. Stick with us and keep posting no matter what!!
Mindi: I think once I get done with this round of Power 90 I might invest in the Slim Series. Sounds like I need to get my levels up first, though.
Mayday: Welcome and thanks for lurking. I did take my measurements and would love to compare them, but they are packed. I am in the middle of purchasing a house and we are due to close in two weeks, so I will be able to dig them out then. I did this program consistently for three weeks and saw a lot of results. The clothes that were tight around my waist got a lot looser and are still that way, even though I've missed two weeks. I can really tell a difference in my calf and bicep muscles. They are really starting to show the muscle tone. Like you, I would do better if I ate better, but I am working on that.
Here's to a good day!
07-08-2003, 08:26 PM
Welcome Mayday! :) Always neat to have someone new join us. I am doing the Power Half Hour rather than the regular Power 90. Mine is a 30 min a day, 6 week program with each day targeting one specific area, such as abs, buns, arms, or thighs. I really like the tapes, well honestly I HATE doing them.. , but afterwards, I feel like I've had a real workout. I'm over halfway thru the program and altho I feel great, I'm not seeing any drastic results:?: I read on the Beachbody.com site where some people's success is gradual and they dont see it until almost the very end so I'm just truckin on hoping for a miracle.:dizzy:
Zanne, I've got to keep trying harder on eating right also. I had Mexican for lunch today.:^: Did better tonite..grilled some burgers and ate my patty just plain with a side salad.
Chach, sorry you were feeling so bad today. Glad you made it thru your sculpting but dont overdo it!
Mindi, from what I can tell from the infomercials about Power 90 and from what I've read, for the Power Half Hour tapes, Tony took a year and studied the Power 90 workouts and condensed some of them. Here's a quote from the site:
"Each move provides 2 benefits at one time:
Cardio: If a move didn’t keep the heart rate up, it was discarded.
Sculpting: If it didn’t provide muscle toning, it was set aside
The result is the “best of” what works. No wasted time"
The reason I got that program instead of the Power 90 honestly was because it was cheaper and less days!:D
Kristin, the stupid scale is evidently broken. I'll weigh Fri morning and let you know the outcome, but the last several weeks I've fluctuated between 199 and 202. I'm ready to fluctuate between 195 and 199 for a change! All this exercise has got to be doing SOMETHING! I havent lost an inch or a lb in several weeks..I just dont get it!
Did my Thigh trimmer tape at 6 a.m. again today. After work today, I did some weights with hubby...mainly worked on arms.
Well better go for now. Ready to hit the couch for awhile!

Hey Power Gang!
First I just want to say that I just love coming here and reading about you all, cause it inspires me, helps to keep me going and makes me get back on track when I've fallen off! Many thanks to all of you. :grouphug: :flow2:
I just finished doing 25 minutes on my elliptical trainer. I was just not in the mood for doing Power 90 cardio. I am so proud of myself for not just saying I wasn't doing it and that's that. I found something else that appealed to me and did it.:D Actually doing the elliptical helps to strengthen my knees. I'm thinking of trying to add it in on my sculpt days :dizzy: Ya, I'm crazy!
My eating is much better today. I've kept to my eating plan 100%! I've also been drinking lots of water. I've got to wash away all the bad eating I've been doing that made me feel like crap. I feel pretty good today. I think I've unknowingly been doing an experiment on myself. When I eat bad stuff I feel lethargic and plain yucky and I get bloated. When I eat properly, I feel good. Now why can't I remember this when I fall off the wagon???
MAYDAY--WELCOME! Nice to have new people in the group. I had lost some inches, but that can vary depending on how I'm eating and my hormones. I've also been taking one step forward and two steps back. Hopefully I'll keep moving more forward than backward now. I also know that I'm a slow loser, so I try not to get discouraged when the pounds don't just melt away. And scale weight can fluctuate by several pounds thru-out the day and from day to day WOW! You're doing 3/4! I took a peek at that and was pooped just watching! Just keep it up and I'm sure you'll see results.
MINDI--How are you doing with Body Rx?
CHACHEE--Sorry to hear the whole house is sick. I'm very glad your fever is gone. Fevers are the worst. Can't really do much with them but sleep--and that's difficult to do when you have to take care of other sick family. Your commitment to the program is inspiring.
MIKI--Another 2 workout day?!!!! You go girl! Way to go on eating right today. Just take it one mouthful at a time. I hear ya on grudgingly doing the workouts, but I do feel so good afterward.
COACH--Tell us you did your sculpt! I know you did it! Good for you! When you go camping, maybe you can take a little notebook and keep track of how much hiking you do. That's got to count as exercise! I'm counting my elliptical as my cardio for today. Can't see why you couldn't count some hiking.
Ok, better get off to bed now.
07-09-2003, 02:20 PM
I haven't done 3/4 full force. I did some research and it seems that cardio 3/4 is the same as 1/2 except that it has an extra set. So I try to do the first 2 sets and then if I can do more, I do. I've been able to do a good portion of sculpt 3/4 -- just not all of the push-ups. Before this I was doing the Firm so that probably helped. Right now I like Power 90 better -- I definitley sweat more with Power 90. Did my cardio last night. I need to try to work out every day this week because I'm going to visit my parents this weekend for a party so I'll be gone all weekend and may not have time. I hate missing 2 days in a row. Last night I had a grilled chicken salad for dinner so that was good. Unfortunatley it was big enought to feed 3 people and I ate the whole thing :-) Chat with you later!
07-09-2003, 05:56 PM
Hello Power Gang!
I did it again! Got my cardio walk in and then came home, had a small salad w/avacado, lettuce, little bit of cheese and ham, then did the Cardio and Abs. It's 85 degrees up here and if anyone knows about Alaska, that registers around 100 anywhere else. I just put the fan down in front of me and then gulped down the water. Feeling good!!!
Susanne: Great job on getting the workout in. Back on track and feeling good, huh? Keep it up.
Mayday: I think you are right on the 3/4. I put mine in today and it looked like it was just extra sets. Don't stress about the salad--it's better than eating a whole bowl of ice cream.
Miki: Wow, two workouts? You are driven!!! Keep up the great work!
Off to shower and then to work.
07-09-2003, 07:51 PM
Just wanted to check in...didn't get my workout in today... :yikes: but I really DO have a good excuse today! Getting ready to start back to work on Friday...a job just kind of "dropped" in my lap...(long story, but am VERY excited!)
Gotta get me a new routine now!! Any suggestions? My work hours will be 7:30am to 3:30pm...
Will write more later!
07-09-2003, 09:03 PM
Sounds like everyone is doing well today. Congratulations Kristin on the new job! You'll have to tell us all about it.
Mayday, grilled chicken salad is one of my very fav things to eat. I have it at least once or twice a week. ( including lunch today)YUMMY!
Chach, guess you're still feeling better since you got in your cardio workout again. That's good news to hear.
Zanne, good for you for working out even when you werent in the mood for Power 90. Sometimes we do need a change to keep from getting too bored and giving up altogether.
Tomorrow I have to go get Josh from basketball camp. I'm leaving at 7 a.m. so there's no way I'll be able to fit in exercise before that. I like my sleep too much to get up earlier than usual. Hopefully I wont be too tired tomorrow evening. If so, I'll count it as my 'off' day and get back on track Friday.
Did my ABs tape again this morning. I came very close to waiting til this afternoon but right at the last minute, I decided to go ahead with it. Glad now that I did.
Mindi, how was your day?
Catch ya'll later!
07-09-2003, 09:10 PM
hi girls! how's your week going???? congrats on the new job Coache's wife!!!
How are ya Zanne? I love BodyRx. I love the nutrition and the fact you never starve! I also like the weight training and its nice to not have to worry about cardio right now cause I've managed to hurt my foot! Have pain and swelling in the center by the ball of it. I suppose I injured it during my SS workouts. grrr
Hi Miki, May and Chach! What workouts are you doing now? Power 90 roations or have you tried other stuff?
Well I gotta do some work so I'd best get to it. have a GREAT night and get plenty of sleep!
07-09-2003, 09:19 PM
Okay, I have a question....what is BodyRx?? Did I miss something? Hope ya don't mind repeating...just curious!
Ciao for now,
07-09-2003, 11:18 PM
Did the power 90 sculpt tonight. And now I'm sitting with ice on my knee. I guess I got a little cocky doing the lunges and squats (that's where I hurt my knee last time). My knee was feeling good and then all of a sudden I felt a twinge. Good thing I was on the last set, so at least I made it thru most of the workout.
So I guess I'll be doing the elliptical for my cardio for a wee bit. The Power 90 cardio has some stuff that might agrivate the knee. At least I've got a back up instead of giving up!
MINDI==Sorry you hurt your foot. I can sympathize! Sounds like a strange place to have an injury. Hope it's nothing serious. Glad you're liking the Body Rx--we all have to find what works for us. Not one program will work for everyone.
MIKI--Hooray for you for getting in your workout today. Sounds like you're getting back into the swing of things.
KRISTIN--Congrats on the new job! We'll let you slide on missing your workout today. ;) What kind of a job is it? Tell us the story! As I see it, you have 2 choices: doing your workout either before work or right after work. I don't know how early you can get up or have to get up for work--your morning might not be condusive to working out. So maybe right after work--and I mean right after work. Change out of work clothes into work out clothes. It's only a half hour. My thinking and experience is that if you put it off till after dinner or something, you'll never do it. Just start making your workouts a new habit with the new job. That's just my 2 cents.
CHACHEE--Wow 85! I don't think it got quite that warm here today. And I must admit, I really don't know anything about Alaska. That's what's neat about the internet--gives us an opportunity to meet others around the world and find out all kinds of neat things. Good idea about putting the fan in front of you. Thanks for the encouragement. I do feel really good.
MAYDAY--Good to plan ahead when you know you might not get a workout in. You can do it! The salad sounds yummy. And you could have been eating something a lot worse than salad.
Ok, time for a shower and to wind down.
07-10-2003, 03:22 AM
I know what you mean about the weather in AK, lived there for 9 yrs., miss it terribly! Life is so simple there. Still adjusting to big city life in Seattle.
I'm new to this site, but read the thread. Very impressed with all of you ladies' willpower and dedication.
I've been looking at power 90 for a while a thinking the secret couldn't possibly be the one thing I most ignore, . . . excersize!
I'm getting back into condition by run/walking 45 min., 3 X per/wk. and lifting weights. Pilates on other days. Need to be more consistant.
Thank you for the encouragement.
07-10-2003, 05:25 PM
OOOWWWWEEEEEEEWahoooooo!!! I ventured to the 3/4 Sculpt. WOWWEEEEE! Let me just say that I LOVE IT! It's 38 minutes and it's a killer. I totally love the additional exercises. Different types of exercises that are wonderful and you really feel it. The main difference that I can tell is that it's much more fast paced, more pushups and lunges and then the additional circuit. I really like it because I am drenched in sweat and I found myself pushing harder. Plus, sometimes I felt like 1/2 didn't go fast enough. Plus, my girl Lisa isn't on these. The other girl seems much more like all of us. Not so perfect. I'll try the 3/4 cardio tomorrow and ab ripper 200. Wish me luck!
Coach: Did you get a workout in? If I end up going to days, I'll have to figure out a new routine/schedule also. I don't know what Body Rx is either. Can someone explain?
Miki: Did you end up getting your workout in? Just wondering because your day sounded so crazy. Good job on the workout.
Mindi: How did you hurt your foot? Sounds really painful. I am still doing Power 90 but moved up to 3/4. I am on the 8 pounds and able to get through the moves with some pain in the last few reps. I'm not moving up to 10 pounds probably for a month or so. Then I might have to buy some bigger weights.
Susanne: I'm sorry you hurt your knee. I had knee surgery in 2000 and used Taebo and swimming to strengthen it. How do you like your eliptical trainer? I was contemplating getting one of those when we move into the new house.
Kat: Welcome! When did you leave Alaska? I moved up here from Salem, Oregon in 1997. Used to go to Seattle all the time and am leaving for vacation in Salem in one month. My family is all down there. I love Power 90 and it's a great change of pace for the exercising. I had to start over because I missed two weeks, but am three days back into it.
Better go get a shower--was really sweating today!
07-10-2003, 06:49 PM
GEESH, Chachee! My hat's off to ya! Glad you're liking the 3/4...although it will be awhile before I get there, I'm sure. Keep us posted on the other part...
Susanne, what are we gonna do with you? You can't Power90 with a bum knee??? Take it easy...don't want you hurting it any more!
Mindi, and everyone else who congratulated me...I begin my new job tomorrow!
And welcome all you newbies...the more the merrier!
I don't think I've ever shared any of my personal life with you guys...not that it's a bad thing, I just don't think many of us ever go there? I'll try to explain a little about myself....I'm 36...married (for the 2nd time to my highschool sweetheart) I have a son who is 11 (from my first marriage) and a step-daughter who is 12. I have been a microbiologist/med tech for the last 15 years; however, 2 years ago, I began getting severe dizzy spells, attacks of severe vertigo, tinnitis, and my thought processes just didn't have the reaction time it usually did. I started to get VERY ill from it all, and spent about 4 month in bed except for the many, many, days I spent at the hospital or at my doc's office running tests. Turns out I have Meniere's Disease. I had to stop working and go on disability while I was getting treated for it. (Dexamethasone injections into the inner ear 1 or 2 x a week.) Although I will have this disease forever, I have it pretty much under control. I got a call out of the blue on Monday from a friend who runs the laboratory at the Greenbrier Hotel Clinic (It's a 5 star hotel for the rich and famous) and she asked if I was able to work again. It is such a wonderful opportunity, I couldn't pass it up. SO....I am officially the new microbiologist for the clinic starting tomorrow. It's a great job...all days, no weekends of holidays. (something I've NEVER had before.) And NO NIGHT SHIFT!!!
So that's my story. She asked me to start today, but I didn't have all my ducks in a row!! So I'm starting tomorrow. Wish me luck!
I will probably Power90 before dinner when I'm hungry...that is suppose to be the best time to exercise...while the tummy is empty. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.
You guys keep pushing play...I'll let ya know how I do tomorrow.
Ciao for now.
07-10-2003, 09:07 PM
Kat, welcome! We're always thrilled to have new additions to our group. Jump in and post anytime.
Mindi, I mainly just use the Power Half Hour tapes but occasionally I do some weights with hubby. I also have an XL Glider which I used for my exercise before getting the tapes which I feel are better for toning. Sorry to hear about your foot problem.
Kristin, that sounds like an awesome job! I'm really happy for you. Maybe you can get me an autograph from one of those rich and famous people you run into. I've never heard of Meniere's disease before. Glad it's something that you're able to keep under control.
Susanne, what's going on with all of us? Everyone has either been sick lately or hurt something. I havent gotten in a workout today yet, not sure if I will. I had planned on doing some shortly but just a few min ago, I turned to look over my shoulder and just from that, like you, I felt a little twinge but in my back. Nothing major, just a slight pull or something. Anyway, ever since, certain ways I turn, it feels like it's going to catch or something. Not sure what's up with it and I'm not sure if I need to exercise to work it out or if that would make it worse. Guess I'll just see how it feels in a little. Be careful with that knee!
Chachee, you go girl! I'm impressed that you're already moving on up with those workouts. Way to go!
Mayday, hope you had a good day. Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Well girls, gotta run. Still hoping to do a little something toward exercise but if not, I'll count today as my 'off' day for the week.
Bye for now,
07-10-2003, 09:07 PM
COACH--Your new job sounds cool! WOW! You're a microbiologist, eh? Sounds interesting. Just what kind of stuff would you be doing at a "hotel for the rich and famous"? Now I hope you got your workout in! I'm gonna have to keep after you :drill:, eh? (can ya tell I'm Canadian??!!)
CHACH--Girl, you ROCK! Being able to do and like 3/4!!!! Hmmm, not sure about MORE lunges--those things are doing a number on me in 1/2!!! I'll be happy to NOT see Lisa tho. When she does her punching, she looks like she's dancing with her arms or something. I think you said before, she's too "girly". I really like my elliptical. We had a treadmill, but when I used it, my shins hurt, so of course I didn't use it too much. I find my hip and knee joints don't hurt so much after I've been doing the elliptical for a month or more. I guess I strengthen them.
KDIXON--Hi to you! Sounds like you're getting back on track. I need to be more consistant too. But at least I'm being more persisant when it comes to my workouts.
Well Ladies, I'm kinda down tonight. I've been exercising and eating properly and what do I get in return??? I feel and look like the Goodyear Blimp!!!!:( I'm pretty sure it's the mid-cycle hormones and I know it probably won't last, but it's still brining me down. I'm just hoping that if I keep exercising, I'll be able to get this PCOS under control and therefore my hormones won't be so out of whack!!!
Enough ranting. I better go hop on the elliptical and watch CSI!
07-10-2003, 10:15 PM
Well I got in 30 minutes on the elliptical and I FEEL GREAT!!!!!! I'm sweating like crazy and the knee seems to be ok! WHOOHOO!!!!!:twirly: :dancer:
I haven't been this sweaty with the Power 90 cardio. Guess I'm not working hard enough. I did the elliptical WITHOUT having to use my asthma puffer too! I usually have to use it prior to exercise, but I try to push things to see how far I can go. I'm really proud of myself just now!
Ok Gang! We can ALL do this! I was kind of contenplating NOT working out cause I felt so blah. But see, the workout made me feel really good!
MIKI--We must have been posting at the same time before. Sorry about your neck. I've done that before a couple of times. It's not fun. Hope it clears up soon.
Gonna go veg for a bit to cool down.
Have a good night everyone.
07-11-2003, 09:00 AM
Guys, I'm way late today, but wanted to wish you all a happy Friday!!!
the foot? well I think I did by getting TOO wild w/the SS cardios moves, like jumping jacks, etc. I'm 48 years old and gotta remember that high impact is NOT good for me. lol plus I'm not a cardio lover at ALL which is why I so love BodyRx.
Keep liftin', pushin' play, whatever you need to do!
Have a good weekend all, if I don't see ya before Monday!
07-11-2003, 09:15 AM
Well I missed my workout yesterday. I had a terrible headache and just couldn't do the cardio. I took a 1/2 day at work today, though so I'll be home around 12:30 and I'll get it in right away. I always feel so guilty when I miss a workout. But even working out 5 days a week is better than I was doing before starting Power 90. I weighed myself this morning (I like the a.m weigh in since it's always less!:D ) But not this morning -- I gained 3 pounds! Oh, well, I'm probably one of those people that doesn't see much difference until close to day 90. And there's always the chance that it's muscle! Plus, I don't have a huge amount to lose and the last ones are the hardest to go. Goal is 20 pounds. Ultimate goal is 30 pounds. Sorry I don't write to everyone indivdually but I don't have the greatest of memories (except when it comes to useless information) and I can never remember who said what. But I love sculpt 3/4 too. Of course I never did 1/2 but like I said I was doing The Firm before this and that really got me used to doing squat after squat. I can't do the one set of push-ups yet -- the ones where you put your feet up on a chair. I also can't do the ones where you put your hands on the edge of the chair and lower yourself down -- the backwards ones. I still do those with my knees bent. Anyway, hope everyone that's ailing feels better and I hope you all have a wonderfull weekend. I live in PA and it looks like it's going to be a nice one. I don't have a computer at home (I'm at work right now) so I'll chat with everyone again on Monday.
07-11-2003, 08:40 PM
Mayday, gonna let you in on a little secret. Took me several days to figure it out myself when I first joined 3FC, but when you click on "post reply" instead of "quick reply", all you have to do is scroll down and you'll see all the latest posts right under the place you're typing your new one. I didnt notice it forever! None of us have memories that great either...we just keep looking back.
Not going to take time to post individually right now because my back is really aching as I'm sitting here. Cant believe something as simple as looking over your shoulder can actually hurt you.:dizzy:
Everyone have a great weekend and get in those workouts!
07-11-2003, 10:26 PM
:faint: Ugh.....darn 3/4 Cardio and AB Ripper........sore from 3/4 Sculpt......argggggghhh....BUT I MADE IT THROUGH!
Okay, so I did my cardio walk today then came home and immediately put in the 3/4 Cardio Ab Ripper. For those of you on 1/2 let me give you the differences. 3/4 has three rounds of each exercise, much faster pace especially with the kicks and punches. Power Yoga stays the same. Not as many breaks and the Ab Ripper has the same exact exercises, but just 20 reps instead of 10. The really bad news....................LISA IS BACK! Just when I thought I wouldn't have to see her girly kicks and punches she's there smiling at me with her little body! Grrr... I now have a focus point when I am kicking and punching. Wanna guess where it is? Heehee.
I was a little sore this morning from all the extra squats and extra rounds from the Sculpt, but felt real good knowing I needed to step up the exercise. Was sweating like a pig again!
Coach: Wow! You have a very interesting story and career! I'm glad you were able to start back to work. Just don't overdo it! Did you figure out when you are going to get your workouts in?
Susanne: Yay for getting in your workout! I am going to look at those trainer when we get moved in. I think I would really like them. Sounds like you are recharged and motivated! Go for it!
Mayday: I can't do those decline pushups either. I just crack out some regular ones. I think it's a lot of strain on the wrists, anyway. I am about halfway on the chair dips. I do half of them with bent knees. It's a tough workout. I love the squats, though!
Mindi: Take care of yourself and don't break anything. Low impact is good for any age, and high impact is a real stress on your joints. Too much jarring if you ask me. Be careful and take care of yourself.
Miki: Are you feeling any better? Did you have to take two days off? I hope your muscles get back where they need to be.
Well, back to work and then to dinner. I'm actually spluging with pizza tonight. Yummy!
07-12-2003, 09:17 AM
Well, I didn't get in a workout yesterday:( It was like a bus station here in the morning--people coming and going. Then in the afternoon and evening we had my cousin here for a visit. Plus I had only had at most, 2 hours sleep:tired: I probably would have dropped a weight on my head if I had tried working out! LOL!
I KNOW I'll get in one workout today, and I'm hoping for 2. I'm thinking of adding in a little elliptical on my weight days. I can do that while I watch TV.
CHACHEE--Thanks for giving us an idea of what 3/4 is going to be like. You are doing great for being there already. I'm kind of looking forward to getting to 3/4 :dizzy: I don't mind the squats, but my knees sure do!
MIKI--Oh Dear! Sorry your neck/back turned out worse than you thought. Take it easy and make sure you're healed before attempting a workout that may aggrevate it again.
MAYDAY--Hope your headache is gone now. I'm like you--even tho I've been missing workouts, it's a lot better than when I did nothing. It takes a while to develop a new habit. Your weight gain could be hormonal depending on what time of the month it is. And our bodies can fluctuate too. I'm a very slow loser and have been staying away from the scale so I won't be discouraged. I can do more pushups, a bit more power yoga and heavier weights than when I started--so I'm using my progress as an indication that I'm getting healthier. I do what MIKI said and scroll down to reread what everyone has said.
MINDI--You WILD woman! Like CHACHEE said, high impact is no good for anyone. Just take it easy. Hope the foot is better soon.
Ok, I think I'm all caught up for now. Kind of a dreary day here--good for doing cleaning!
Bye for now.

Well, the first day on the job went very well. I was a little intimidated by all of the "rich folks" :snooty: ...that's a little different for me. (I'm used to a hospital in a community where MOST of the people are pretty poor...) Anyway, seems to be a good job...hope my health stays in good condition so I can keep with it!
CHACH-I'm so impressed with you making it to the 3/4! Makes me VERY ashamed with not working out...:O I came home after work yesterday, and was so tired I didn't exercise. :tired: I know...if I would just PUSH PLAY no matter HOW tired... You keep it up for me! hahaa
MIKI-I must have missed something? What in the heck did you do to your back/neck??? :chin: You should REALLY take it easy...back injuries are the WORST!
MAYDAY-congrats on the workouts! Wish I only had 30 pounds to lose... :yikes: I know the feeling trying to work out with a headache :headache: Amost impossible, eh?
MINDI-I still wanna know what BodyRx is!!! Are you keeping secrets?? ahhahaha **j/k** :p
SANNE- How's it going with you? Sounds like you have a handle on this company + working out! I'm jealous! :sorry:
All other NEWBIES-Welcome to anyone I missed! Please come back and join in, eh? :^:
Okay, once again, I'm off to sculpt. (How many times have I said that in the last month???? :fr: )
Ciao for now, powergirls.

Hi all :)
Ok so I've missed working out two days in a row now. I actually had planned on trying to get thru one last nite but Josh, my 13 yr old, ended up having 2 friends over for the nite and I just couldnt bring myself to make them suffer thru watching me do that. I'll do something today, not sure what yet.
Kristin, all I did to my neck/back was turned and looked over my shoulder, felt a little twinge, and that was it. Ever since then I felt like my back was going to 'catch' and get stuck when I moved a certain way. Weird huh:?: It does feel much better today.
Chachee, you're doing great with the exercise lately! Keep up the good work.
Susanne, I hope you got more cleaning done than I did. I had good intentions but havent gotten to most of them yet. I have just got to mop before this day is over!
Mindi, Mayday,Kat...hope you're all having a nice weekend. Come check in when you can.
07-12-2003, 09:19 PM
Well, I only got in my *scheduled* sculpt workout today. The inlaws came and stayed for dinner. I was not really in the mood for doing a workout, but I *pushed play* and the half hour went by quickly. I actually did a few more pushups and I did a whole set of dips (with legs bent), but that's an improvement. I even muddled thru squats and lunges--with a brace on my knee:)
MIKI--Glad your neck/back is feeling better. I don't think I'd want 3 13yr olds watching me workout:o
KRISTIN--That's great that you enjoyed your first day of your new job. Now: :drill: GO PUSH PLAY and get in your workout! I felt really tired about 45 minutes ago, but did my workout and now don't feel quite as tired. See this little guy:dancer: He's NOT dancing-He's kicking your butt into gear! you can do it!:D
how's everyone else doing???
Hope you all are having a GREAT weekend.
07-13-2003, 09:09 AM
hi girls. :) what a lovely weekend we're having in the midwest! not too hot, sunny for a change too! :)
my foot is much better however, I'm wearing my birkenstocks to work out in! LOLOL you should SEE me flopping around in them. lol but i've learned to not do the jumping jacks now, i'll modify them and not do the fast jog in the slim series, i modify that as well. its too harsh on my feet.
I did tone it up on friday and firm it up on sat and I'm SORE today but i'm going to try to do another one. gotta keep at it, right?
Coach's wife, BodyRx is a plan by Dr. Scott Connelly that incorporates a nutrition and weight training plan. you never get hungry, you never do cardio...if you don't wish to, that is. His book is now out in paperback and if you run across it, its worth a read. He's brilliant about food and nutrition and for an over 50 guy, does he EVER have the abs to prove his program works!! Its not a fast fix, its a lifestyle program. its set in 3 cyles, 1 you build muscle, 2 you sculpt the muscle and 3 you burn fat.
my first go around with it last summer, i lost 23lbs and more importantly, 15.5 inches. then i stopped and tried other stuff and NEVER had any success w/them, so i'm going back to BodyRx. I'm messing w/the slim series workouts tho, i want to see if i can incorporate them cause dr. C says the nutrition is 70% of the battle.
If you want to read more about it, pm me. I'll give you a couple websites to review it.
Mayday, how's that headache? I have lots of them, sinus and allergy related mostly. I hope you feel better, they're AWFUL!
Ok ladies, get your sports bras on and hit that play button. LOL
Have a brilliant and peaceful Sunday! :)
07-14-2003, 06:47 AM
Hey all Powergirls!
I just wanted to say good morning to you all and Happy Monday (is there such a thing as a happy Monday??? ) hahaha
Anywho...I'll touch base with you all later, I just had a few minutes this morning and thought I would say "hey". How are everyone's 'PLAY" fingers today? Feel like giving a "PUSH"??? hahaha
Chat soon gals,
07-14-2003, 09:53 AM
COACH/KRISTIN--I think a Monday can be happy--especially when it's all sunny outside:cool: I love your sense of humor, glad to see you posting.
MINDI--Glad the foot is better. I can just picture you flip-flopping in your stocks! That's dedication!
HOW'S EVERYONE ELSE DOING??? Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Well, I did 5 days of exercise last week compared to 4 days the week before (I count Sunday to Saturday). A couple of days I really DIDN'T feel like doing it, but I did and felt better afterwards. I even started this week off right by getting in 30 minutes on the elliptical last night. I even went further *distance* (by machine's calculations) than I had 2 nights prior, in the same amount of time.
My eating is pretty good too. I'm finding I don't crave the junk food so much now. I'm sure it's the exercising that's helping that. I'm actually wanting to eat fruit and veggies:eek:
Well, I better go get the morning chores done. I'm going to pop over and take DS to see my grandmother today. I'll check in sometime later
07-14-2003, 07:57 PM
Hi all....I really hate to come in since I have to admit I still havent exercised since I last posted.:^: Somehow I just never fit it in this weekend.
My sis is on her way over tho for us to go walking. I'll walk AT LEAST 2 miles, hopefully 3 or 4. I refuse to miss one more day of extra activity!!
For some reason, I'm a little burned out on the Power Half Hour tapes. Mainly I think because I can only find time to do them at 6 a.m. and that is sooo hard!! I dont have energy that early! Anyway, next week I go in later to work so I'll be able to do them around 8 am which I can handle. I may just stick to walking this week. I guess anything is better than nothing at all right?
Better run and get my walking shoes on. I may try to post again later tonite.
07-14-2003, 09:42 PM
Hello Power Gang!
I took Saturday as my day off this last week. I think I need to change my week. When I started back it was on Tuesday. I need to change to Monday-Sunday. I did my Sculpt at 10:00 pm Sunday night. Grr....wasn't going to miss two days in a row, though. I was going to do my Sweat today, but it's almost 90 degrees up here and I just couldn't do it. I did up the Cardio Walk I do, and it was 30 minutes with two excellent inclines. I really worked the glutes and hamstrings. I feel like I did a good job and feel it was just as good as the Sweat, so I am counting it as exercise.
Susanne: Great job on getting five days in! See, you did better than last week, and this week will be even better! Great job on the dips and pushups! Those pushups are always the ones I have such a hard time getting through.
Coach: Rich people, huh? They have any extra money laying around you could send our way? Now get those workouts in!!! And this Monday was a happy Monday for me--we picked up my son's two year pictures. The studio messed up and printed twice the amount of what we ordered, so they gave them to us at 1/3 the cost we paid for the other packet. Now we have more pictures to send out! Happy Monday!
Miki: I totally understand about burning out, but get back on track before you derail. Start over and get just one workout in! You can do it, I know you can.
Mindi: Glad your foot is better. I'd love to see jumping jacks in Birks!! Be careful!
Well, back to work. Get those workouts in!!!
07-14-2003, 11:45 PM
I'm pooped and it's time for bed. I just wanted to pop in and say that I did my Power 90 Sculpt this evening. And I did NOT hurt my knee! Hooray! I was very careful with the squats and didn't go down as far as I would have liked, but at least I could go down most of the way.
I did 45 minutes on the elliptical earlier today!:bravo: :cp: Hooray for me! I've been wanting to get in some cardio on weight days and today I actually did it! What's even better, is that I must be setting a good example for my son, cause as I was on the elliptical, he got on the exercise bike beside me and did about 30 minutes, with just a couple of breaks for water. He's only 5. He was dripping with sweat. I'm glad he's exercising too--he's got a little bit too much weight on him. Mind you his weight has stayed the same for quite some time, but he's grown several inches, so I think we're doing something right.
Hope everyone had a good day. I'm fading fast.
07-15-2003, 08:24 AM
Well I didn't get in my workouts on Saturday or Sunday. Took my tapes to my parents but didn't do them. I find it hard to stay in the routine when I'm away from home. But, if I look from Sunday to Saturday then I did get 5 days in. Did my cardio last night. I hate doing it after work because I don't get home until 5:30 but I do have more energy later in the day when it comes to cardio. Plus I just haven't been able to drag myself out of bed at 5:30 am! So I feel a little guilty about missing so many days last week but I'm just going to pick up and start again. I just can't seem to get that 6th day in. Oh, well. Have to get back to work before they catch me on the Internet! Have a great day!
07-15-2003, 08:54 AM
Girls, be careful on those squats, make sure your form is perfect to avoid that knee stress like Zanne mentioned. Better to do a more shallow, good form, squat than go too deep.
I worked out friday, sat, sunday and monday. Today I'll rest. I did SS F, S, S and the Firm, last night, so I'm sore and needing a break today. I may do a little stretching tonite, but that's about it.
Packed my cooler w/my food. I may not have mentioned but I carry my own food w/me every day. I can't find decent food to eat in my office area, so rather than be tempted by french fries and such, I carry my own every day.
How do you guys cope w/food?
Off to work, have a good one!
07-15-2003, 07:17 PM
SOOOO glad to hear everyone getting in their workouts! :strong: Ummm...I haven't been getting mine in though :sssh: I don't know what it is, but going back to work has exhausted me! :tired: hahaha No, really my eating has been great. I have been packing my lunch (taking only things that are good for me...which means NO :burger: or :chockiss: or :cookie: or :jeno: or :m: okay, you get the picture. I'm hoping when I get used to getting up and going to work that I can eventually figure out how to incorporate exercise into this. I swear, you'd think I have never worked before (only 15 years...)
Yep, CHACHEE, I'm a tech for the rich! However, my paycheck does NOT reveal it... :?:
Just so you ALL know...I'm JEALOUS that I'm so behind in my exercises...however, one of these days I'm going to surprise you all and log on and say "I SCULPTED TODAY!!" :faint: hahaha
Have a good hump day all...
Ciao for now
07-15-2003, 08:28 PM
Well, I was only able to walk 2 miles last nite. It was still stifling hot, 90 degrees or worse, and this was after 7 pm!! Very humid. So we're going later tonite...closer to 8 and hopefully we'll get more miles in before dark.
Still havent managed to do that workout in the morning yet. But I will! ;) (just had to use that..I love the new'wink' lol)
Dont have time to post individually but I'm proud of all of you who got in those workouts. Kristin, you and I have got to work on that huh? :D
Take care everyone!
07-16-2003, 07:01 AM
Hello my Powerfriends!
It's hump day...I'll be so glad to make it through the week! My eating has gotten SO much better... :hun: My 2 next priorities are 1. staying awake  and 2. Starting back to exercising :strong:
Yes, MIKI, we have got to get back to the swing of things...however, YOU are better disciplined than I am! :stress: I'm sure you will get back to it before I will...heh heh
SUSANNE, you go girl! Looks like you're being a good girl too! You'll just have to keep knocking me in the head... :rollpin: Don't give up on me yet!
CHACHEE, MAYDAY, MINDI..how are you guys doing? Doesn't have to be a question about exercise...just how are ya'll in general? Touch base with the gang, okay? :comp: (This is coming from me, the one who was MIA for so long...SHEESH!)
Have a good day...looks like it's gonna be a beautiful day! :sunny:
Ciao for now
:gossip: :grouphug:  :hat: :sumo:
07-16-2003, 09:03 AM
Looks like we'll have a nice day here. Gotta take the car in for a tune up and then I have to walk home. Not too far, but a nice walk. Of course I'll have to stop in at the mall on the way home too:D
I tried doing the Power 90 cardio last night, and I think I'll have to put it on hold for a while longer (of course I'll do something else instead). There is just too much stress on my knee with all that bouncing around. I tried to modify, but there is just way too much. I only got half way thru the workout when I called it quits. And I was just sooooo tired to begin with.
I'm kinda disappointed. I've been doing pretty good with both eating and exercise. All of a sudden a couple days ago I felt SOOO puffed up. Did my measurements and I AM all puffed up!:?: I can't figure out why. Even my bust, which has stayed the same for a long time was bigger. Bras I bought just a couple weeks ago that fit then, do not fit now. I'm not even going near the scale. It's a little depressing.
But I'm going to keep plugging away. Maybe my body is just adjusting to all the exercise and healthier eating.
Do any of you do/have done the Walk Away the Pounds tapes? I was thinking of adding that in as part of my cardio, just for a little variety. What do you all think?
KRISTIN--I so love the humor of your posts! Kudos to you for taking healthy lunches to work. Your going back to work is a big lifestyle change. Sometimes it's tough to make a lot of changes at once. So working and healthy lunches is a good start. But don't think I'll let you off the hook for long without working out:s: I'll be after you!:rollpin: :drill: I've actually found that I'm usually more awake after a workout than before--so maybe you can work on doing a workout when you get home from work before you do anything else:devil:
MIKI--Glad to hear you're getting your walks in. That heat and humidity can take a lot out of you. You're one determined chickie, so I'm sure you'll get back to your other workouts soon.
MINDI--Good advice to give the gang! I think we have to remember too that some of us may have to modify some moves to accomodate our own needs and limitations. I think it's great that you take your own food.:hun: I'm a SAHM so I have the whole kitchen tempting me. I combat this by NOT buying things I shouldn't eat. DH has been asking for weeks if I bought chips. I tell him to go get his own:p We're going to a party on Saturday and I'll be bringing some of my own stuff just in case there's not much I can eat. I'm trying to eat low glycemic stuff--and usually parties are full of high glycemic foods/snacks
MAYDAY--Good for you getting in your workout even tho you were tired:bravo: You are right=It is very difficult to keep to a routine when you are away. But you're back in the groove now.
HELLO to anyone I missed.
Guess I should get going. When I started this it was sunny out. Now it looks like it's gonna pour buckets. Don't want to get caught in that walking home.
Have a good day gang:sunny:
07-16-2003, 09:20 AM
I muddled thru the power yoga yesterday. And ya know what??? I'm actually getting better! I wasn't cursing at Tony. Still can't swing the leg thru but I COULD do the pushups and pretty much everything else!
We have to count our little achievements too. I know a month ago I couldn't do that dratted pushup to down dog.
07-16-2003, 01:26 PM
Been a week, hasn't it? I just hate summer sometimes, mainly because of the allergy stuff in the air. I really have it bad this year and NOTHING has helped. wah!!
Anyway, I took last night off and did not work out, went to bed early w/a book, read, stared at the tv and was asleep at 9:30. Feel somewhat livelier today even tho I have cramps today. Probably why I was so tired yesterday. I noticed lately as TOM rolls around, (when it DOES, that is, I'm 48 and perio), I get way exhausted.
Other than that, can't complain much. I'm meeting an old college buddy tomorrow for lunch, I'll try to eat well, but I'm not going to be too picky about it. I may even have dessert! Gasp! LOL
Zanne, I wouldn't worry about your measurements going up a bit. There are lots of reasons it could happen, you may be retaining water, it could be PMS, if you're adding more fiber to your diet, that too takes an adjustment period. Or you may be adding muscle. At any rate, keep up the good work and don't let it get you down!!!!
Coach's wife, I hoped I answered your questions about Brx..if you have any more, just ask. *S*
Miki, and the rest of you girls, hope all is well w/you on this fine Weds!!! Remember to breathe deeply and drink your water!
07-16-2003, 03:40 PM
I did my sculpt last night. I can feel it in my thighs, which makes me happy cause that's my biggest problem area. I don't think I'll ever be able to do the push ups where you put your legs up on a chair. I can't keep my body straight so I feel like my body's going to split in 2 at the lower back area. So I have just been doing regular push-ups. Today will be day 28 since I started and I can definitely tell that I can do more push-ups. As long as I work out tonight I will have done my tapes 20 out of the 28 days. Not 6 days a week but not too shabby -- better than nothing. If I can start getting up before work I could do better. And I don't even have a husband and kids at home so I don't really have any excuses for missing. I do have a boyfriend that likes to go out a lot though & it's tough to exerise when everyone is ready to go out or he's sitting on the deck after work enjoying a drink. That's why my goal is morning exercise. Sounds like everyone else is doing well too by getting some type of exercise in even if it's not Power 90. Anway, talk to you all later!!
07-16-2003, 05:43 PM
Hello Power Girls.
So busy around here with the house being built, but have managed to get the cardio walk in today and am getting ready to do the Sculpt. Still at the 3/4 level, so I am proud of that. My thighs are getting smaller, so I can wear some of my shorts that I didn't like too long ago because I felt my legs were too big.
Coach: Great job on the workouts you were able to get in. I am stressed to the max because of this house not getting done when it is suppossed to and not being able to move in before we leave on vacation. I'm stressed and craving chocolate so everyone is on notice around me!
Susanne: Sorry that you are still having problems with the cardio. I tried the WATP tapes and HATED! them. Just not my cup of tea. Your measurements may be up because of the weather, also. Are you drinking enough water?
Miki: How are you doing? You getting in the exercise? Walking is good!
Mayday: You've done excellent on the 20 of 28 days. I can't do those decline pushups, either. I feel the same way. I just keep pumping out the regular ones and feel better about that.
Anyone I missed, sorry! So many posts to catch up on. I got the cardio in yesterday. So far so good.
07-16-2003, 08:35 PM
Kristin, even tho you havent been getting all your exercise in, at least you're eating has improved. You sound like me...why cant we get both things worked out at once??:?: :dizzy:
Susanne, I have the WATP tapes also. I like them ok..I was doing them before the weather turned nice enough to walk outdoors then I quit. My sis and I decided just today that we're going to do that tonite because it's just sooo hot walking outdoors. Even at 8 last nite, it was still 89 degrees with 61% humidity. Within 5 min, our clothes were all wet and sticky..YUCK. I dont know the answer to the "puffy" question but my sis and I are both experiencing it too. Her waist is actually 2 inches bigger than when we started Power Half Hour. My measurements are the same, but we were hoping for lots LESS!!! Very discouraging but like you, we refuse to give up.
Mindi, thanks for the reminder...I'm still not drinking enough water! I dont know why I cant get back into that habit. I hope you're feeling better today..allergies are the pits and you cant live in southeast Arkansas and not have them. Getting to bed early sounds nice.
Mayday, 20 out of 28 days is a big success! I need to do mine in the mornings before work too but I just cant make myself get up early enough every day. I can make it one week, then the next I cant. I need to get more committed, I know.
Chach, how exciting to be building a house....but hectic too I'm sure. Where are you going on vacation?? When do you leave?
I hope I didnt miss anyone. We were a chatty bunch today:lol: That's cool tho..I love it when there's lots of posting going on.
Bye for now..
07-17-2003, 10:56 AM
I actually got up this morning and exercised! Woo Hoo! I'm going out tonight with a girlfriend and I didn't want to have to go home and exercise first. It definitley feels good to have it over with. I don't know if I'll be able to do it regularly. Today I kept hitting snooze and barely got out in bed in time to fit in my workout. Luckily it was a sculpt day so it was a little shorter. I have to make sure I'm done by 6:30 to get a shower and get ready for work so I only had to start a little before 6:00. It'll definitley be nice to go home and know I don't have to exercise. And if I could keep this up, I could go home and do things like pilates, etc. Haven't been doing great with the eating but I have been trying to cut down on the portions. Went out to dinner last night and ate 1/2 of my dinner when normally I'd eat the whole thing. Baby steps!! Glad to hear you're all doing well and getting your exercise in.
Zanne -- Way to go w/ the power yoga. I can swing my leg through but I can't get it nearly as far as Tony. And I almost fall over when he gets to the part where you raise your arms. I don't have the best of balance!
Mindi -- I can relate with TOM. I get so sleepy!! I try to force myself to exercise because it usually helps me with my cramps. But it's definitley hard to get started.
Chachee -- congrats on getting cardio and sculpting in. I was walking at lunch but I haven't been lately. It's been so hot and I hate coming back to the office all sticky. And I only get 1/2 hour so I end up walking really fast and getting really sweaty. If I can keep exercising in the a.m. then I could walk some after work. That's a BIG if, thought.
Miki -- It's so cool you have your sister to walk with. Having a buddy always makes a big difference. I'm an only child and my friends are all on different schedules and my boyfriend is just not a walker. But you're right, it's just been too hot lately unless you walk at 2am!
Talk to you girls later.
07-17-2003, 04:17 PM
Happy Thursday, Powergirls!
How's everyone? Just thought I'd check in...NOT a good eating day. They had a "going-away-party" :hat: for the girl I'm replacing and the food was EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! :nono: Now...I COULDN'T be rude and not eat...hahahaha :hun:
SUSANNE, I'm so glad I'm able to entertain you!! Some people just don't get my sense of humor... I, too, have the WATP tapes...personally, I just don't like them. Not enough variety, and I got bored  really quick. But now YOU may like them alot, everyone has a different opinion, ya know? She sells a ton of tapes, so a ton (no pun intended...haha) of people must like them!
MIKI-I'm with you...HARD to get outside and do anything when it's hot...I start sweating like a :ink: and then get paranoid that everyone around me can smell me...(PEEYEW!! :stress: )
CHACHEE-Congrats on building a new house! That sounds SO exciting! Hoping to get to do that one day soon myself...I know it's gotta be stressful. I'm sure you get your workout just trying to deal with that...
MINDI- I still haven't looked into the BodyRx, but I will!!! :crossed: Just gotta find some "ME" time so I can really study it.
MAYDAY, how are things with you, girl? Sounds like you're doing great on your exercises...congrats! :bravo:
Gonna have to break down and clean my house tonight I guess. :censored: I HATE to clean...but my big brother is coming in this weekend with his son (A chocolate lab named Harley) so I guess I should at least TRY to make the bathrooms presentable anyway...(I need a MAID...hahha)
I'll check in later...have a good weekend if I don't get to log on before that.
:goodvibes: :jig: :hyper: :dancer:
07-17-2003, 09:22 PM
Just checking in. I'm really tired this evening. Don't know why. I think I may take tonight off from exercise. I really don't feel like doing the elliptical, can't do the power 90 cardio--Maybe I'll do a WATP tape--but probably not. I've been on a terror today cleaning stuff. up and down the stairs with laundry etc. That's gotta count for a bit.
I did power 90 sculpt last night.
I'm really sorry gang, but I'm just spaced out and tired to write. I'll try to get to everyone tomorrow.
Hope you all had a good day.
07-18-2003, 03:27 AM
Hello Power Gang!
Took today as my day off. My nice husband called and wanted to go to lunch with me and our son, so I had to go. We haven't been able to do that for awhile and I thought it would be fun.
Miki: We are going to Oregon, where I come from originally. We are leaving August 9th and will return August 23rd. I am planning on exercising down there and am taking the Power 90 DVD so I can't have an excuse other than the heat.
Mayday: I agree that it's better when the workout gets done early. I do a cardio walk with a friend M/W/F for 30 minutes at 11:00 am. Then I come home, feed my son, put him down for a nap, Power 90, then get a shower, take him to the babysitter then run to work. I work nights, so I get to sleep in, but the minute I get up I'm running!
Coach: Yep, the house is good, but stressful! I am having a bad eating day too, but TOM is about a week away. Good news is that it won't be TOM while I am on vacation. Bad news is that anything chocolate falls prey to my mouth for about three days. Eeeks.
Susanne: Get some rest, girl! We all have those days! Sounds like you can count your cleaning as a workout, though. Some of the best workouts are when we clean!
Back on for Cardio tomorrow. Damn Power Yoga! Oh well!:sumo:
07-18-2003, 05:54 AM
Chachee....who's TOM? And what did he ever do to you to make you dislike him so much???
07-18-2003, 09:08 PM
Coach! You funny lady!!! It's just that he's such a nuisance every darned 28 days! It's almost like clockwork!
07-19-2003, 01:32 PM
Maybe when your house is finished and you move.....
TOM won't be able to find you again, eh???? ;)
07-20-2003, 01:49 PM
WOW, everyone must be out enjoying the weekend, eh? Wish I could be doing the same!!! Unfortunately, I am taking a class that I need to finish so I'm here :comp: stuck doing homework..so you guys enjoy it for me too! :sunny:
Have a great week! :halffull:

Hi all...sorry I havent been in for a few days..just been really busy. I'm doing much better eating and also back into exercising finally, just walking tho. Wed nite we walked 2 miles, Thurs nite walked 3 miles...worked Fri til 5, came home cooked, cleaned house, etc and didnt get around to it but Sat morning walked 3 miles before work and then this morning at 7:30, we walked 2 1/2 miles before getting caught in a HUGE downpour!:rain: We didnt care tho because it cooled us off.. Oh yeah and twice in there, cant remember which days, we did the WATP tape. I feel alot better now that I'm a little more active again. Still havent gotten back into the PowerHalfHour tapes tho. I will..just taking a break I guess.
I think I have actually lost a little this week. I'll weigh next Friday to find out for sure.
Well better run...the whole family is pacing behind me waiting for me to get off of here.
I'll be back soon!

It's been a few days since I've posted.
I've been bad and haven't exercised since Thursday. Mind you on Saturday I spent nearly 3 hours in a friend's pool playing this tackle basketball kind of game we made up. It's hard work running in the pool and swimming and wrestling hubby for the ball:D
I had too much dessert on Saturday (carrot cake and rice krispie treats) and since I had brought the dessert for the BBQ, I had extra rice krispie things at home (I left the rest of the desserts with our hosts), and ate way too many.
Hubby gave me a great compliment yesterday. He said he can tell that all my exercise is paying off. He said I'm looking good! Good motivation to keep working at it.
I have no clue as to my bloat up last week. It must have been hormones, but I know it wasn't PMS or TOM. I've never been bloated so bad that I had to get new bras! But I'm better now.
Better go get my munchkin some breakfast.
Talk @ you all later!

Well I was on that roll and then I blew it. I'm with you Zanne -- I haven't exercised since Thursday either. Weekends are a killer. But I don't feel too guilty about it because it was a beautiful weekend and I spent a bunch of quality time with the boyfriend just relaxing. And even though I'm dying to lose some weight, sometimes I just need to spend time not obsessing about exercising. So I'm starting up again today. 3 days isn't going to kill me. And last night we went grocery shopping. I bought all kinds of salad stuff and made grilled chicken salad for lunch today and made some pasta salad with low fat dressing. We bought a ton of seafood to make -- salmon -- mmm. So I figure I just hit a little speed bump this weekend. Miki, you seem to really be on track. I walk occasionally but I don't rack up the miles you've been. Congrats! Coachs wife -- sorry you were stuck inside this weekend. Hope you took lots of study breaks. I don't have a computer at home so I can't check in on the weekends. Hope everyone else is doing well. Talk to you soon.
07-21-2003, 05:38 PM
Okay, my little chick-a-dees.... Sounds like we all could use a booster, eh? :sp: So what do we do? How do get ourselves to exercise every day, and not get down on ourselves when we don't? I don't have the secret...or I'd be thin by now! :sumo:
I'm willing to take a little advice and constructive criticism...so let me have it!!!!!! :rollpin:
You guys are the best...I'll talk to you soon.
What's happened? Where are my motivated gals I love??
Coach: I have a feeling no matter where I move TOM will find me. More on the house later, at it's a touchy point with me right now. Motivation? Hmm.....let's see. I think we all need to just get up and do it and we will feel better. I sat here almost had myself talked into not workout out, but got up, did the sculpt and felt so much better!:smoking:
Miki: Wahoo for getting back on track with the exercise. I'm glad you got your walking in. I did not get to walk today because it's raining and my friend comes over on her lunch break. She didn't want to get all wet and have to go back. :sorry: We had a nice lunch and then I exercised once she left.
Susanne: That whole bloat thing was weird. I'm glad it's gone away. That's wonderful about your hubby complimenting you. Mine did that also this weekend. I was complaining that I still couldn't fit into my jeans and that I had to buy a bigger size in some new shorts than I've worn in a long time. I was ranting about how all the clothes makers size their clothes differently. One size 16 could be a 20 or 22 in another. Plus, they were Tommy Hilfiger shorts, and those run small. :blah: Anyway, he said he could really tell a difference, especially in my butt and back. How nice was that? :sunny: So, here's to our hubbys!
Mayday: I agree about taking some time off. Funny, though, because even when I'm not actively on program, then I still do things that get more exercise in. Like parking away from the store so I have to walk further, walking around the park and feeding the ducks, pulling my son in his wagon, etc. I'm glad you took some time off, and three days is not a big deal. I just took two weeks off awhile ago and still didn't do too badly. Sounds like you are back on track and doing well.
I need to go get some Lite Cool Whip and sf jello for my snack. I did so well when I was using that as a snack.
The house: I am sooooooo angry right now. We are due to close on Thursday and they did not work on it at all this last weekend. They haven't worked on it since Wednesday. They have to do carpet, flooring, hardwoods, cabinets, touch up paint and painting the doors and frames, and put in the appliances. There is no way that can get done in three days. The home inspector is due to come on Thursday morning. Stressed????? :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: I want to smack some of those contractors around to get my point across! :rollpin: :rollpin: :rollpin:
Okay, enought griping.
I had an idea! Has anyone thought about writing down the exercises on the tapes and doing them not to the tapes, but to our own music or tv programs? I know a lot of the time that I don't want to put in the DVD it's because there is a tv program on I want to watch. I did the workout today from memory to a show I wanted to watch and I actually felt like I put more into it. I know I probably forgot a move or two, but I was thinking about printing it out, posting it next to the tv and doing it that way this week. What do yo all think? I kinda get tired of watching the same people all the time, but need the strict program to keep on track. Just a thought.
Off to shower and get to work.
Have a great day!
07-21-2003, 07:13 PM
CHACHEE--Hey ya! I've thought about writing down the moves while I've been working out the past couple of weeks! I just thought about using my own music (I always turn it off on the DVD); never thought about doing it while watching TV Great idea!:goodvibes :cp: One reason I love the elliptical is cause I can watch TV and the time just flies! Don't ya just hate how clothes are sized?!!! I do have a pair of size 10 jeans that I actually had to take in the waist. I'm sure the wrong tag was put in them, but it sure is a psych to wear them! But don't give up--I tried on a pair of shorts that were too small at the beginning of the summer and I could actually wear them for a few hours yesterday. Got a little uncomfortable after a while, if ya know what I mean
KRISTIN-- I think CHAUCH is right. I always feel better after a workout, even when I really don't want to do one. Try to think about being healthier and be proud of little accomplishments like doing one more push up than last time or getting better at that darn power yoga! Just DO IT!!! You'll feel so proud of yourself!
MAYDAY--I like your attitude girl. Three days off won't kill any of us as long as we get back on that wagon. Sometimes we just do need some down time. Glad you had a nice weekend.
MIKI--You go girl! You're really getting in your exercise. At least you've kept doing something while taking a break from the PHH. Maybe you just needed a wee break away from it.
Well, I better get off here and log off the puter. A big storm is a-brewing. And I want to fast forward thru the sculpt workout and write down the moves!
Later, Power Gang!
07-21-2003, 08:39 PM
hello girls! i didn't 'officially' work out the past weekend, but i did lots of 'functional' exercise, like washing, waxing cars, cleaning house, exercising dogs, etc.
tonite i'm back on the lifting track tho w/Body Sculpt from The Firm. I'm also finally over TOM so my cravings for fat, salt and sugar have eased up some too. I did serious damage to a large bag of peanut M&M's last week...'hangs head in shame.' But they were GOOD! LOL
Off to read, I'm heavily into the DaVinci Code, its an excellent book if you're looking for something to really get you interested!
07-21-2003, 11:38 PM
Good Evening Ladies!
Well, I finally did some exercise tonight. Got on the elliptical. Actually, I dragged my sorry butt onto the machine. I was really, really not up for working out. I was really tired and just wanted to veg in front of the TV. BUT--I put on my socks and shoes and just did it. I went a whole 30 minutes! It wasn't the greatest or fastest workout, but at least I got on there and did something. I actually feel a little better now and I feel a little better about myself.
So come on any one who is too tired to work out (ahem,*cough*--COACH) you can do it! Even if it's just a little 15 minute leisurely walk. It's more than what you were gonna do and you'll feel good after.:D
Nighty nite, Power Friends

**GASP** You talkin' to me???? :yikes:
I know what you're saying...wish I had time to get up in the mornings and exercise. **sniff** **sniff** It's all I can do to drag my butt out of bed to go to work...
TODAY...when I get home...I will do my best to do SOMETHING...so I can say "YES I DID!!"
I'll let ya know how it all turns out...hahah
Check in this evening! You guys have a great day!
(((Suttle hint there, Susanne....SHEESH!!))))

Chachee is one mad woman! Grrrr........
I went to the doctor today to get my allergy meds refilled. He asked if there was anything else I needed and I told him I had been having a weird "twinge/shooting pain" on my right side, from my glut that sometimes would shoot down to my knee. He got this look on his face and did an exam. Turns out the pain, twinge, numbness I've had for two months is a pinched and inflamed siatic nerve. He put me on anti-inflammitory meds and told me to back off the exericse until the numbness goes away. He doesn't want me to do anything where I am standing/kicking one legged as it's too much strain on that nerve.
Just when I am really starting to see results!!!! :bomb: :censored: :headache: I'm not happy about this. I am hoping it will clear up soon.
House update? Driveway paved, walkway paved, linoleum and hardwoods installed today, as far as I know. I will stop by later tonight to see. I guess telling them that we were going to get lawyers involved didn't hurt, huh? Still not closing on July 25th, but looks like we can get them to agree in writing to close on July 30th. Keep all your fingers crossed!:stress:
Susanne: Please don't smack me. I didn't work out today. Was way too busy, on the road from the moment I woke up and running all day. Did you get the workout written down? Have you tried it that way yet?
Coach: Did you get your workout in? Just wondering so I can hear Susanne get on ya! :rollpin: It does take time to get adjusted to a workout schedule!
Mindi: How is your foot? I saw some DVD's at the store that were The Firm. I was going to go back and check them out. Isn't that what you were using?
Miki and Mayday: how are you girls doing?
Alright, off to take meds. Grrr...
07-22-2003, 10:29 PM
Well Gang, I'm a bad girl too. Didn't get in a workout. I've got a killer headache/moderate migraine, so working out would just make it worse. Meds haven't helped it much. We're having stormy weather and my hormones are weird. Not a good combo.
CHACHEE--Sorry you're in such rough shape. Don't worry, I won't smack a girl when she's down. Do what the doc says so you don't make that siatic nerve worse. If you do as directed, you'll be back to exercising faster. probably easier said than done, considering you're moving soon! Sorry to hear about the house problems too. Been there, done that and it ain't fun. I really hope you close on the 30th:crossed: Didn't get a chance to write down the routine. Hoping to do that next.
COACH--Ya know I have your best interests at heart when I'm ragging on you!:rollpin: So how did you do today? How long is your lunch at work? Maybe you could do a walk at lunch? I know it will take time to get into your work routine and then to figure out just the best time for your workout.
Ok, time to write down that routine then off to bed.
Nighty nite, Power Buddies
07-23-2003, 09:37 AM
Hi guys. Been busy at work so I haven't had much time to write. I got my workout in Monday and Tuesday and plan on getting one in tonight when I get home from work.
Chachee -- I bring sf jello to work too as a snack but I never thought about putting ff cool whip on. What a wonderful idea. I'll feel like I'm having a real dessert! Sorry about the bad news at the doctor. Did he mention if there was any type of exercise you could do while you take a break from Power 90? Swimming or walking maybe?
Zanne -- sorry about the headache. Exercising with one of those is impossible. It's been stormy here too. We sat out on the deck on Monday night and watched a storm in the distance. The lightening was amazing -- I haven't seen lightening like that in a long time.
Hope the rest of you girls are doing well. Chat with you later!
07-23-2003, 09:59 PM
Wow...I've missed ya'll the last few days! Took me awhile to catch up reading all the posts so now I dont have much time to write. I promise I'll address individual posts when I have more time.
I've really kept up with my eating and exercise this week. Still just walking BUT so far since Sunday, I have walked 23 1/2 miles!!:o We have been walking 3 miles at 7:30 a.m. then 3 more at 7:30 or 8 pm (except for getting caught in the rain-- we only made it 2 1/2 that time). Anyway, it may not be accomplishing as much but I feel sooo much better doing this than I did doing those tapes indoors! The humidity has still been awful and we sweat a gallon probably but today was actually nice. We just really love talking and walking....it takes us 15 min per mile so we walk a total of 45 min at a time but it passes much faster then those tapes do. I may not get back to them until the weather turns bad enough to stay indoors.
Hubby and I are both off next week so not sure how much I'll be able to post. We may go visit relatives for a day or two and then thinking of going to Hot Springs maybe take the kids to an amusement park or something. Nothing big planned...just whatever comes up.
Well gotta run.....poor feet need a major massage and I'm gonna try to talk hubby into it;) Chachee, sorry to hear you're exercise has to halt for awhile but the rest of you girls...Let's get busy!:D
Have a good day tomorrow everyone!
07-24-2003, 07:07 AM
Foot is better, thanks for asking. :) Sorry about those headaches ladies, I have sinus headaches frequently myself, so frequently that I'm used to them and just go about my day w/one. Sad, isn't it? I do everything for them, one is supposed to as well.
I fell majorily yesterday foodwise, a girlfriend who knew I was a bit depressed decided to do something 'nice' for me and sent me a HUGE basket of cookies!!!!!!!!!!! My gawd there I was at the office, alone, w/a bunch of big sugar, frosted cookies...well I caved and ate 2. They were GOOD. I'm trying to feel guilty? But I'm not..lol
Came home and did a major upper body workout instead, I'm very sore today.
So are you girls still doing Power 90 then? Do you have a specific rotation you follow?
07-24-2003, 09:43 AM
Well, didn't get in my workout again! I was all pumped up to try the sculpt without Tony's guidance. I had it all written out. Then I pulled something in my belly (what a place to pull something!!!). It hurt to walk, sit, lie down. Not a good thing. It's a little better now that I've had some sleep, but still sore.
MINDI--Glad your foot is better. Sounds to me like you did well eating only 2 cookies out of a huge basket full. Power 90 is just 2 different workouts. One day is sculpt, the second is cardio/abs. I've been trying to do the sculpt, but have put off the cardio--too much stuff putting pressure on my weak knees. So I've been trying to do the elliptical machine for my cardio.
MIKI--Didja get DH to do your feet? You're doing great with all that walking! And in the heat and humidity at that. A 15 minute mile is a good pace.
MAYDAY--I love storms too--just my head doesn't like them too much:lol: Congrats to you for getting in those workouts!
COACH--How are ya doing, Kristin? Have you run into anyone rich and famous or do they keep you locked up in the lab?
HELLO to anyone I missed!
Have a good day everyone.
07-24-2003, 05:57 PM
Hello Power Gang!
Didn't do my workout today or yesterday. Thought I would give it a rest!
Happy Birthday to my baby boy! He's 2 today! I am making him bbq chicken pizza. One of his favorites!
Signed new paperwork on house. We are due to close on August 5th. Keep me in your prayers that it happens. That way we can close before vacation and bring my new puppy home.
Susanne: I'm sorry you hurt yourself. Take care so you can get back in the swing of things. Thanks for not kicking me when I am down. I'm like Arnold......I'll be baaaaaaaaaaaack!
Mayday: I can swim if I want, but honestly, I have no time to do that. It's free to me out on base, but the only time I can go for open swim is from 5:00 am-7:00 am. I get off work at 12:30 am and wouldn't have anyone to watch my son, so that wouldn't work. I'm just going to chill and take it a little easy. If we do end up moving, I am sure I will overexert myself doing that.
Miki: Great job on getting in all that walking! Hope you have fun on your time off!
Mindi: If you only ate two, then that's not a big deal! I hear you on the heachaches. I have persistent headaches and just learn to deal with them!
Okay, off to work. Take care and talk to you all later.
07-24-2003, 09:47 PM
Hi everybody :)
No, I didnt get that foot massage last nite. I couldnt seem to sit still long enough to get it done. Kept finding things that had to be done up until bedtime then I just wanted to get to sleep. Going to try again tonite. I'm beginning to get blisters.:stress: That pavement gets hot on my rubber soles.
We walked 3 miles again this morning but only 2 miles tonite. That makes 28 1/2 miles this week I think. I weighed this morning and I was UP a pound.:?:  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! I still refuse to give up but GOOD GRIEF!!! Am I ever going to lose another one EVER?????? It's driving me NUTS! I havent lost one measley ounce in 2 months!!!
Whew....felt good to get that outta my system. Thanks for listening.
Mindi, they were right...2 cookies out of a huge basket is more an accomplishment than a failure. I would have eaten the whole thing probably:lol: At least you worked out afterwards.
Mayday, we had some cool lightning here also about a week ago. I even made the kids come out to see it. I LOVE thunderstorms as long as I dont have to get out in them. That's the best sleeping weather too.
Susanne, ouch! I'd think just about everything you do would affect a sore belly. Did you get rid of that awful headache? I've never had a migraine but have heard horror stories about them.
Chach...be sure to pay close attention to your 2 yr old. I blinked a couple of times and all of a sudden mine were 11 and 13. Makes me sad thinking about it. I dread the day they graduate high school and decide to head out on their own. I'm definitely not one of those moms who cant wait to get the kids outta the house. Good luck with closing on the 15th.:crossed:
Kristin, how ya doing? Were you able to get in that workout yesterday? Even if you didnt, you can still come check in ya know:D
Ok did I miss anyone?? If I did, I'm really sorry. Just hard to keep up with so many posts.
Guess what...it's almost the weekend!:cb: Yippeeee!
Well gotta run....talk to you chicks later.
07-24-2003, 11:19 PM
WOW! I can't believe how long this thread is! That's amazing!
Didn't do my workout again. My belly is better. I've just been in this mood to get rid of stuff. I'm tired of looking at the clutter. So when I'm in a mood to toss I keep going. I usually hang on to EVERYTHING! When I hurt myself last night, I think it was lifting the 100 lbs of old stuff I tossed from my freezers.
KRISTIN--Here ya go girl! I'm giving you the honor of giving me a big kick in the rear:rollpin: :sumo: I've been bugging you, now you get to bug me back!
Got more stuff to toss. Talk to y'all later!
07-25-2003, 07:42 AM
well girls I ate 2 of them yesterday too! managed to give 5 away but still have 3 left..i imagine i'll eat another today!!! oh well such is life...
worked legs hard last night to Cathe's Leaner Legs or as some call it, MEANER legs...its really harsh, I couldn't do all the low end, barbell lunges, just failed out. I'll be sore most of the weekend so exercise will be light if at all. Just as well cause its going to be blasted HOT here in Iowa.
Hope you all stay cool and cute this weekend. :) Be well!
07-26-2003, 12:36 AM
Hey Power Gang!
I am still off the exercise right now. Leg is really bothering me with that darned nerve. Feeling a little better, though, than earlier this week.
Miki: I am impressed with the walking. Don't worry about the poundage. It will come off once your body recognizes the daily activity. I am sure it will be off soon.
Susanne: I am right there with you on the clutter thing. I pack up a box of stuff, and throw out two and put one aside for the garage sale. I'm going to need to rent out a community center for my garage sale!! I'm back on the work out thing, modified, next week!
Mindi: Just eat all the cookies and then they will be gone. Heehee. I haven't heard about that tape. Sounds good!
Alrighty, I went shopping today. Didn't really need anything, but ended up spending $80. It's not bad, considering once I added up the savings, I saved $195. Everything I bought was almost 75% off! Wahoo!
See ya on Monday
07-26-2003, 11:38 AM
Okay....WHO stole my post from yesterday??? :nono: Imagine my surprise when I logged on today and started looking for my last post so I could pick up from where I left off....:?: Where could it have gone??? Lost in computerland somewhere, I guess...sheesh!
ANYWAY...how's everyone doing? I'm suffering a headache :headache: today...I got my hair cut yesterday....she took EIGHT-AND-A-HALF inches!!! WHEW!! I think my head is in shock from losing so much weight so fast :stars: ....hahahahaHOHOHO Wish I could lose it that fast!!!
I'm off to visit my folks today...I will try and check in later. Have a good Sat. all! :sunny:
:spin: :p :corn: :sumo:  :joker: :mag:
07-27-2003, 12:37 AM
Hi ya'll! Only have a minute..it's almost midnite and I still havent packed yet and we're leaving in the morning for a mini-vacation. Going to Hot Springs, AR I guess (unless we change our minds AGAIN before then)...I guess I"ll know for sure where we're going when we get there. Anyway, not sure when I"ll be back to post again..by the end of the week anyway. Take care everyone!
07-28-2003, 02:15 PM
Haven't had a whole lot of time to write (I need to get myself a computer!) but I thought I'd drop in to say hi. Didn't exercise all weekend again. I've really been slacking for the last 2 weeks and am a little disappointed in myself but today's another day. Unfortuantely Sunday starts my TOM so I'll be extra tired this week but I'll just keep reminding myself that working out will give me more energy. Talk to you gals later! Hope everyone had good weekends.
