Hello all, :coffee:

Well I am not too pleased with how I am starting July. I weigh in today at 161 after hitting a new low of 5 pounds below that just a few days ago. I've binged the last couple of days. Hope I can wrangle that back into control today. I had planned to stay on my plan through the summer, see where it got me, and then transition into maintenance. I am still going to do that. So, here I am, embarrassing binges, embarrassing gain, and all.

Even after losing a solid 115 pounds you'd think one would have the hang of this, but the struggles do continue don't they? :dizzy:

Good luck and good strength everyone!

Carter Sending good strength to you, today. Unfortunately, every day is a new struggle. Some days are better than others. But, that is life. Some days the struggles feel more manageable than other days. I have thought about this. It seems that the days we are struggling more, it's not that our "issues" are greater. It has more to do with our mental state, or where our head is. As long as we can keep our head in the right place, we can manage our struggles/issues better. Does that make sense? Maybe? Maybe not? Maybe that's just me brainwashing myself in order to get through each day.

Carter - You'll get through this!! You've accomplished so much and will get rid of those extra pounds fast. Pound the water and workout! Perhaps you just have some extra bloat?? We are ALL a work in progress.

I was 259.2 this morning after weighing several times and it saying different things LOL the highest was 259.2 so I'm going with it. A family member came yesterday with Cake! I ate 3 pieces of it (not all at once) and had icecream 2 times. Since this is a loss for me instead of a gain I'm afraid to edit my numbers under my name until a day or so. I sure hope the numbers are correct.. If they are I've hit the 250's!!! We shall see tomorrow LOL

Nah Diana..it's not just you ;) I've worked on my Mindset about food(brainwash myself) through this whole Journey, that's the only way I could learn about what made me fat and learn how to deal w/it all :)

June1-151.4

July 1-149.2
Really surprised and happy..

Note to self..Stop!!!!! buying big bags of low-fat crackers/chips/cookies..thinking that just because i count out a serving.,put the rest in my trunk..making them out of site, hard to get to ..that that's all I'm going to eat and that i won't go back and get more.I'm just fouling myself.

Sure, that works sometimes,I have control sometimes and that system has worked good in the past..but those carbs just cause a craving and I lose control.

Sure I got away with it yesterday because I exercised like a maniac yesterday morning. I don't want to get a mindset of.."I can eat what i want cause I've exercised hard" or "I can eat what I want and just exercise it off"..No...If i don't see a small bag(something that i can control) then don't buy them.

Good afternoon everyone! I weighed in at 151.8 this morning. I'm pretty sure it will not be that low tomorrow. It was extremely hot yesterday and I drink bucket loads of water, I was peeing all the time! But I went out dancing last night and had a couple of drinks. I'm thinking once my body readjust from losing so much water yesterday it'll be up a little tomorrow.

TurboLaura, 65 pounds is such a wonderful milestone!!!

Carter, just keep pushing forward everyday is a new journey.

I weighed in at 262.4 this morning, which is the lowest number I've seen a in a long time. Happy to see that but hoping it doesn't stick around too long. ;) My goal is to lose 3 lbs. this week so I can say goodbye to the 260's.

My husband, daughter, and I went swimming for a couple of hours at my mom's house today. We had fun and wore the 4 year old out. In fact she's passed out asleep on my mom's bed. LOL! That means she'll be nice and quiet during church tonight! :cheer: Got to go put my hair up and get her up and dressed and then we're off to church. Here's to a great month for everyone!

Another Monday, ugh!

I had a good weigh-in, though - 138.8. I did 20 minutes on my mini-stepper and then did all my physical therapy exercises, so it was a good start to the day. We're having a lunch meeting today and I'm actually hoping we won't have pizza, because I am powerless in the face of the garlic!

Kelly, good job on the loss last month! It's hard to be consistent when you're dealing with a big change like a new job.

Domlacha, I envy you the access to a pool. It's been a bit warm here, mid to high 80s, but the humidity has been low so it hasn't been unbearable. And I have electricity, so I can't really complain.

Texan, the 160s are right around the corner! It's always so motivating to hit a new decade - a nice little psychological boost.

Well, ugh. I did manage to get the bingeing under control and be back on plan the last few days. But I am still paying the price for my loss of control over the weekend - still all the way up at 162. It's amazing and sobering that a few days of poor control could undo the entire month of June's progress. It leads me again to think that 158-162 might wind up being my maintenance range - am definitely doubting my ability to get and stay significantly below 160, much less 155.

It's okay if that happens, I guess - not my first choice, but okay. I am not tall, but I am 40, and built like an ox with a thick solid body. I don't look appreciably overweight even though according to BMI charts I am. I have a rounded belly (which is fine with me) and saddlebags - this is where I carry most of the extra weight. The saddlebags are my genetic heritage - my Ashke**** genes right there. So remaining 10-15 pounds above a technically "healthy" weight really isn't such a terrible thing for me.

Still ... I'd rather get just a little further ...

Good luck and good strength to all, and if you're celebrating the 4th today, enjoy!

(ETA: The asterisking of the second half of Ashke**** has to be the funniest and most ironic fallout of the censorship software I have ever seen.)

Thx Steph! part of my diet plan prior to this job was eating a little bit every 2-3 hours, so now I'm going 8 hrs with only a little water.... Sunday I went for 14 hrs with one chicken strip and a glass of water! So, when my shifts are over I am extremely hungry and to tired to find my will power to say no to a binge. The only reason I haven't gained all my weight back with all the binging is becasue of all the physical activity of the job. If I could just find a balance of diet with the activity, I'd probably be losing like crazy. Plus, being on here daily was a huge help and now I'm at work, in bed, or trying to take care of the house and my 4 children..... :whoo:

Everyone welcome Silkie Bantam. She's my cousin. I was telling her how supportive everyone is here and how I dropped 20 pounds since I've been posting in here.

Kelly, I hope things get better with your work/eating situation. You know, I was once a manager at Luby's and let me tell you how difficult that was! What made it worse was that I could eat free at any Luby's in the U.S. I gained more than a few pounds on mac and cheese and fried fish until I finally talked to the cook about it and he would start making me things when I was there that wasn't on the menu. For instance, he would grill up shrimp for me with bell peppers and onions and I'd eat them in a tortilla or something. Or he could always make me a plain chicken breast.

Just because you are at DQ doesn't mean they can't make you something else. And if they aren't nice, make them go clean out the walk in freezer. That's what I used to do!!!

I was very happy with how I did yesterday, though. A lot of the times, when I eat off plan, I get those out of control feelings. I didn't yesterday. I consider that a big win for me. We went to the movies and I brought my own popcorn, since I have the food allergy. I know my sodium was a lot higher than normal. All and all, I am happy with how the day went for me. I think TTOM has left the building, too. If you recall, my thyroid/meds was off. I have been taking the new med for 2 weeks, I think. It takes time for it to get built back up in the body. Last year, my TTOM had improved. This year it was getting worse, again. I think the medicine adjustment helped my TTOM this month. It lasted only 6 days this month. I haven't had that short of a TTOM in a long time! :carrot:

Good morning everyone . I survived Independence day! Well except for the 36+ mosquito bites I acquired, apparently they just love me. I had a great time yesterday and my weight is the same, sitting at 152.4. I'll definitely take it. I celebrated a friends birthday Tuesday night and had a glass of rum punch and some DQ ice cream cake, one of my weaknesses. But i had a small piece and did not go back for more!

Diana, I am glad the medication seems to be working and that your TOM behaved itself for you. Good job on feeling in control yesterday.

Good weigh in Steph. If it holds up you'll be able to move your ticker. I know what you mean about the fireworks all night! I live in the city as well.

Good morning, all! I ate a little off plan yesterday but didn't eat too much either. Weigh in at 253.4 this morning, so no significant change or bounces for me. No workout yesterday, but we did a fair amount of standing (parade) and walking (booths) afterward. I did not eat a funnel cake. :D

I did pretty good yesterday! They served fajitas and I stuck to the meet and guacamole and skipped the rice and tortillas. I did have a few tortilla chips. And I skipped the beer!! And the cupcakes!!

And today I ate out and had breakfast tacos and only ate one of the whole wheat tortillas. We had a birthday celebration for my daughter and I skipped the cupcakes and ice cream and the ciabatta bread with dinner. I'm feeling pretty good about this week, especially with family visiting. Yay!

Hey folks. The bloat from my weekend loss of control is finally starting to dissipate, and I was back to 160 this morning. Still a long way from my low of a week or two ago, but with any luck some of what remains is still bloat and the long-term damage won't be too bad.

And now here comes another weekend.

Good luck and good strength to all.

138.8 again today. Nice! I'm also sleeping a little better, not waking up every hour or so.

It's supposed to be over 90 today so I'm wearing my new sleeveless dress to work. I usually wear a shrug or short-sleeved sweater over my sleeveless dresses but today I'm going to accept the fact that my arms are flabby. I just won't wave at anyone!

Congratulations to everyone keeping focused and staying on track. Yesterday I totally forgot to weigh myself, I wound up working 12 hours but I'm proud to say that I actually took time to eat a proper lunch and supper, despite all tbe work piling up and unbearable pain from TOM.

Also got bad news about my father-in-law being hospitalized with what may have been a heart attack, combines with a severe asthma attack and water in the lungs. He is stable now, but the stress got to me a bit and I ate late a night, which is a big no-no, so I have to be mindful of that.

Good Morning All,
I am having a moment of frustration with the scale and what I think and hope is just water retention. It's a week after TOM and I am sick of being stuck at 219/218. I am super ready for a whoosh but now that I am going on vacation will it ever come? Oh well I'll just keep on plan as much as I can with a few planned cheats here and there and deal with the !@#$%^&% scale when I get back. Wish me luck and all you ladies keep at it as I know you will and I look forward to seeing how well everyone did while I'm away. I may even sneek some computer time in on the trip. I know this seems a little sappy but I am starting to get attached to you guys. :D

I am feeling very discouraged. I had family visiting this week and tried very hard to avoid eating out and to stay on plan. We had a birthday celebration for my daughter and I skipped the cake and ice cream. I've skipped the waffles, the take-out, the pizza. I started the week at 276, was down to 275 and then was up to 275.8 on Friday. We went out to lunch on Friday and I just thought, screw it, this isn't working anyway (because my weight went up.) But, still, I ate less than I would have (shared a single order of fajitas) but there were chips and creamy jalepeno dip and a margarita involved. And so, I thought, the day is already screwed, so I drank a beer for dinner with a bowl of popcorn and followed that up with some chocolate caramels. I went over my calories by about 600 for the day :(. This morning I weighed in at 277.8

I am trying very hard to put yesterday behind me and get back on plan today so that my calories for the week are still lower than my allotment. I am using LoseIt and I'm "allowed" 1730 calories per day but I typically eat between 1550-1650. As of yesterday, I was over by 188 calories for the week. I plan on ending the week with a deficit. I am not feeling optimistic about tomorrow's official weigh-in. I am on-plan today and drinking a lot of water because of the salt yesterday. But I know I am not going to be 274, which would have been 2 lbs for the week (and that is the weight loss that LoseIt plans my calories based on). I feel like I have to be better than perfect without any mistakes in order for there to be any movement on the scale. I did really well this week (until lunch on Friday) but my Friday morning weigh-in showed only a .2 lbs loss over the week. I was under my calories every day. I expect that, despite yesterday, I will still be under my weekly allotment but there won't be any weight loss and I expect there will be a gain. That is very discouraging.

Steph7409

Texas Yankee, everyone here will tell you that you just have to be patient. Weight loss isn't linear or purely mathematical. For many of us, it's a bumpy ride with lots of surprising results on the scale. I think we all try to stay on plan as much as possible, to not be too hard on ourselves when we falter, and to keep reminding ourselves that this is a long-term endeavor.

I will say that one of the reasons I've been successful this time is that I've been able to rid myself of the attitude of "I've already screwed up today, so I'll just eat everything." We've all heard that voice! I've gotten pretty good at telling that voice to shut up.

karmich and TurboLaura, I'm glad you're finding support in this group. I've been here for about 6 months and I agree that these gals are great!

Tomorrow is my LoseIt weigh in day so I may be changing my ticker - finally!

Hey everyone, I weighed in at 152.8 today. So on here that is technically a gain of 1 pound for this first week. In reality, I had a weird weigh in the first day. I have no real idea why my weight was so low other than I had had 0ver 112 oz of water plus I drank alcohol so my body was flushing water like crazy! I am down .2 from my June 30th weight and I'll take it, slow loss is still a loss.

TexasYankee, I understand how it can be quite discouraging to see a gain on the scale even when you have been doing so well. I have learned that I have to not be too upset from the day to day weight in. I track what I eat and know for sure that I either stayed within my calorie budget or I did something a little wonky. The scale will usually get with the program if you have been on track. Don't beat yourself up too badly about going over it happens, but remember just because you had a couple of things doesn't mean the day is ruined. Just hop right back on plan at the next meal or food choice. Stay strong you can do this journey!!

Okay, I moved my ticker since I was at 138.6 this morning - a full week of being under 139. I think every pound is going to be a struggle from now on!

Underwater - You can do it!!!! :cheer:

Today was my official weigh in day and was down 1.6 lbs. for the week. Not bad but not where I wanted to be. I blame it on not exercising as much as I should have. Next week though I'll hit 20 lbs. gone and be out of the 260's!

carter
07-08-2012, 11:22 AM
Hello folks. :coffee:

HealthyMe - Congratulations on the 1.6 pounds gone. I can't tell you how envious I am of people who can drop almost 2 pounds in a single week and call that "not where I wanted to be." I have never lost at that kind of rate. I averaged about a pound a week for my first two years of weight loss, and considerably slower than that through the third year. So: enjoy it! You're doing very, very well.

Steph: Great job, congratulations on the ticker move. I admit that I update my stats ever time I see a new low, no matter how fleeting I know it is. ;) So, my current stats reflect a dehydration-low that I saw when I got back from my trip to India - 4 months ago! I haven't been back down to that number yet, so it's really a total lie. Your method has more integrity, I think!

Underwater - don't be terrified, just be inspired. You have time to keep at your plan. Just remember that you don't have to be perfectly "at goal" by the wedding in order to have a smashing success that will make you feel great about yourself. It's not an all-or-nothing deal.

Domlacha - Hang in there!

Martine - Good luck dealing with your father-in-law's illness and sticking to your plan. Remember - what you eat doesn't affect his condition! So don't let his condition affect what you eat.

Texas Yankee - Listen to Steph, she's right on. Most of us lose in fits and starts. It would be really, really nice if there were a simple, quick, 1-1 correlation between what you ate yesterday and what you see on the scale today, but our bodies simply do not work like that. Your weight on any given day is determined by lots of factors other than how much fat you burned the previous day, and most of those factors are out of your control. Your body may retain fluid due to dehydration, weather, hormones, healing after exercise, and a host of other factors you simply can't control. Fluid retention can easily mask a couple of weeks of fat loss. So remember that it's not whether you weigh less today than yesterday that matters, or even whether you weigh less today than a week ago. It's whether you weigh less today than a month or two ago.

And you do NOT have to be "better than perfect". You just have to be consistent. That is, when you do slip up, get right back plan on with the very next bite of food. Do not let the slip-up turn into a weekend-long bender. At your current weight you probably do have a considerable margin for error provided you get right back on plan, and provided you do not get discouraged when you do not see a loss every single time you've been on plan.

Okay. As for my own report - most of the damage from last weekend's binges is undone, and I am back down below 160 - weighed in at 158 today, in fact. I'm really hoping I can avoid doing that again. I have been considering tweaking my approach one more time, to see if I can come up with a plan that will help me ease into maintenance while dropping another 10 pounds or so.

Good luck and good strength, all.

Texas Yankee - I agree with everything the others have said here. Do not let an off plan meal or two throw you off.

Underwater -you can do it!!!

Healthyme - you are doing great!

Steph - Sounds like a great way to spend the day.

Domlacha - I completely agree, a loss is a loss!

I did not have a great start to July, but I am going to have a great July!

Thanks everyone. I was back on plan yesterday and still going strong today. I only lost .6 lbs for the week, which is discouraging. But, it is still a loss. Slow and steady!

My friends husband once gave me a good analogy. His wife and I both answered that if we ate a crappy meal we would eat crappy for the rest of the day. He said, "if you hit a mailbox with your car would you keep trying to hit mailboxes for the rest of the day or would you try to be extra careful to not let that happen again." I try to think of that when I go off plan.

My father-in-law's surgery went really well and he awoke yesterday and was able to eat jello and complain that the nurses would not let him do anything, so all good signs.

Morning, all!

I had a slightly better day yesterday and am up only 1/2 a pound, so not too bad. I'm just feeling tired and achy and discouraged, and that's when the comfort of those old bad habits seems so tempting.

I got a call yesterday from a woman I was friends with in high school, whom I haven't seen or talked to in maybe 30 years. She's going to be in town tomorrow and wants to get together. A year ago, I would have been thinking - ugh, she'll see I'm still fat ((I've been heavy since I was in grade school) and that I haven't really accomplished much in my life. Now, though, at least I'm not fat!

I hope everyone is having the same beautiful weather as we are - sunny, warm, low humidity. Love it!

aka, I do like lifting. I started way back when, after I lost 100 pounds while I was in college. I've been lifting on and off since then, using a home gym I bought 30 years ago and some free weights. I don't lift super heavy, but I can bench press 70 pounds and do squats at 80. I like feeling strong enough to lug around bags of mulch and there's the whole osteoporosis thing - doing weight-bearing exercises helps with bone density. Frankly, that's reason enough - I'm short enough, I don't want to shrink!

Hey everyone! I'm up to 151.8 this morning :o. I think the other night where I ate way too many calories (over 2500) and the Chinese food from last night are saying hello! Suppose I'd better get my butt back in the gym. I haven't worked out since Thursday.

Good luck everyone!

Quick post, I'll be back later tonight.

I did something totally crazy today! :D Are you ready for this? :D I booked me and DH for a cruise! A CRUISE! :D I can't believe I did it! This will be the first one for me. DH went on one when he graduated HS. A cruise! Me on a cruise! :D :D :D

Good Morning and TGIF! Have a great weekend!

Well, I was pleased that all I gained was .6 from the Japanese steakhouse the other night. What I didn't know was that I would have a second gain from there. This happens sometimes when I eat off plan, but I normally gain 1+ pounds overnight from this restaurant. I should have known there was more to come. ;) Oh, well. All I can do is stick to my food plan and exercise. It will regulate over time. Next week is my birthday, so that may be another blip for me. I don't think I have anything else coming up, so I should be good for a while.

Calories for yesterday: 1470 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 152.6
Up: .4 (This makes 1 pound for that restaurant. That's in line with what normally happens)

Where are all of our regulars? Angie, Ona, Rennie I know we are missing a lot more.

Hi folks. :coffee:

I had a couple of off-plan days and I'm now hovering around 161 again. I continue to be surprised at how difficult it is for me to keep my weight below 160! Well, I have been giving some thought to my plan and whether I want to take a different approach and transition myself to maintenance, so perhaps I will do that.

I hope you are all well. I have taken a couple days off work after passing my big twice-a-year deadline and let me tell you it is GLORIOUS. It's better than a weekend because I haven't felt the same pressure to accomplish things that I normally feel on a weekend (though today I think I feel that a bit more).

Good luck and good strength everyone.

Hello ladies!! Keep up your great work and don't get too frustrated by little jumps!

Sorry for being MIA but I don't have much to report. I've been holding at 155 since July 4...this happens to me almost every month after TOM and them I will lost 3-4 pounds per week in the next 2 weeks. Here's hoping! My goal was to be 152 by tomorrow but I don't think that will happen!

Diana, awesome news on the cruise!

Take care ladies and thanks for your support.

Hello, all. I'm hanging in at 138-ish, even with some off plan eating this week (and last week, and last month - urg). I've been exercising a lot, usually 60-90 minutes per day, and today I'm just pooped, so I'm taking a day off.

Diana, let's hear about the cruise! Where are you going?

carter, I love the weekday breaks. Weekends do seem like times when you need to get the non-work life stuff done, but weekdays off are for fun and relaxation.

We've got another hot weekend coming up here. I hope everyone stays cool!

Hey ladies! Just checking in to say hello :) I miss checking in, but I'm still coming to terms with the fact that weighing in everyday is just going to depress me, despite the happy reason for it. I still weigh in every few days or so, just to make sure I'm not spiralling out of control, especially because the nausea hits so hard sometimes that the only thing to ease my stomach is carbs. I don't remember eating this much bread in a very long time. We had stopped buying bread at one point because hubby and I couldn't finish it and it would go bad and be wasted. But now? I go through it like you wouldn't believe. No throwing up though, which is a blessing because I hate the thought of it. I've gained about 4 lbs, which is to be expected and I'm okay with it so far. Trying to increase my veggies and fruits, which is hard because there are days I just can't stand the smell of it, but oh well, the first tri is almost over and then hopefully we can get back to some healthier ways!

Amanda - love your picture! You look fab!

Diana - yayy for cruising. I think it's an amazing idea and my best friend goes at least once a year. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun! When is it?

Kukkie, good idea. No reason to stress yourself.

Today's weigh in: 220.2 -- (up almost a pound. we'll see how this goes for the next few days. It seems I'll lose a few pounds really quickly, add one or two back, and stay there for a few weeks (or months).

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a great start to your weekend!

I am really excited about the cruise! I posted this yesterday at another of of my check-ins about where/when we are going:

We are leaving Christmas day. That probably sounds odd, but I think it will be really good for me. This will be the first Christmas without my Mom. A friend of mine did the same thing after she lost her Dad. She booked a cruise for her family, along with her Mom the first Christmas. I have always wanted to go on a cruise, but didn't want to drive all the way to Florida. Carnival has been in Charleston for the last few years, but I have had one thing after another going on. I lost my Dad, last year I lost my dog, and this year I lost my Mom. I am done! I have had enough of this insanity! I am going on a cruise! We are going to the Bahamas. It's a 5 day cruise. I even splurged on the balcony suite.

I posted this today about my concerns with this cruise

I hope I don't get sea sick. I haven't in the past when I have been on boats, fair rides, etc. But you never know. I will be the one person that gets sea sick, MRSA, staph, the bird flu, the swine flue, food poisoning, I will have a room with bed bugs, and I will fall off my private balcony. I am trying really hard not to think about all the crazy things that can happen to me in this 5 day trip.

Diana, I think you will LOVE cruising! I am totally hooked. We have been going on one each year. Next year we are going on the Celebrity Summit but have also sailed Norwegian, Disney, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean.

Be SURE to check our the Cruise Critic forums. I can tell you're a forum girl and it's a great group of people just like here.

A few tips-

Choose your stateroom wisely! If you want to give me your ship and stateroom number, I'll take a peek and let you know what I think.

Don't buy the ships tours- they are overpriced and crowded. One the Cruise Critic forum there is a forum for every port so check there to read up on the best activities and tours.

Join your Roll Call- there is a thread for every sailing on every ship. You can get to know some of the people you will be sailing with and they can help you plan for your trip. You can share tours with them you can book the best private tours and it's much less expensive when you are sharing.

Check the Carnival forum- the posters there will share a lot of "secrets" that the casual cruiser would never know. It is really helpful.

There is also a "Lose before you Cruise" weight loss forum that is fun to read as well as a "First Time Cruisers" forum that might be helpful to you.

I am also happy to help if you have any cruising questions. We sailed Carnival last year so it's all very fresh in my mind :)

Diana, how great that you will be going on that cruise! My brother did a 7-day Carribean cruise a year ago on the Allure of the Seas and he loved the experience. Until he told me about his fabulous trip, I never thought about taking a cruise, but now it's on my bucket list.

Ok so I've been on vacation since Friday night (after working a 15-hour shift) and we've been eating out (huge portions, salt and everything not healthy really) and I haven't moved an inch, so I am paying the price. But back on track this morning with a 6.3km walk with our dog in sweltering heat, and nice balanced meals planned for the day.

Domlacha, I'm hoping to get back on the OP wagon as well. I'm clinging to 138.8 but just barely. I'm obsessing about things and that always leads to the urge to overeat, so I need to be stronger.

On a happier note, I got to see my favorite dog in the world yesterday, a Newfie that belongs to one of the partners here. I hadn't seen her in a couple of months and I got a big welcome - full body press, whimpering, the whole thing. It made me feel good!

Hello folks. :coffee:

I was away from the scale this weekend visiting my folks; came back to find this morning I'd dropped back down below 160, to 158, so I am okay with that.

Neither my weight nor my measurements have changed for the last 6 months, despite an increase in exercise. It's definitely time for me to be thinking more in terms of maintenance than in terms of weight loss. I've said all along that I'll know I've reached my "goal weight" when either I'm happy with where I am, or it looks like going further is more work than I am willing or able to do. I think I've reached that second criterion.

You guys know I've been going through an emotionally trying time. The last few days in particular have been extremely difficult. I'm grateful for your support.

Good luck and good strength to everyone! (Still glad you like that, Diana!)

Good Morning, Everyone!

I think my body is finally ridding itself of some excess fluid or my thyroid meds are starting to work. I'm thinking it's the thyroid med. I remember speaking with the Dr. about how my weight has climbed in the past. She feels that you can only contribute about 10 pounds to hypothyroidism. I personally disagree, but I'm no Dr. ;) It was really obvious, with my recent thyroid issue, that my weight could easily go up even though I was counting calories and working out every day. She did mention that some people are more sensitive than others. I think I am in the sensitive category.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Yesterday was my birthday, so I took the day off from counting calories. I had a plan for yesterday and stuck to it. Of course the calories were high and I ate off plan foods, but I stuck to my plan. I didn't go crazy with the eating and didn't even get full. This is really saying something for me, when I eat off plan. Sometimes things will spiral down and it gets crazy. I'm still working on that moderation thing. I have actually done better with this in recent months. Back on plan today. I showed a gain, overnight, of course. I'm not sure if I will see a second gain tomorrow. This happens to me sometimes. We ate a little late last night, so I might see that second gain.

Good Morning All,
I know it's been awhile since I last posted including my vacation time. We had a great time in Florida and I didn't do too bad. Thanks everyone who offered advice. I did go off plan more than I expected but I don't regret it. I ate typically one meal a day that was up there in calories, carbs and fat and had two drinks and one desert(a really good key lime pie slice that I shared with my kids). All told I can't complain because I had a great time and the scale hasn't been too mean so far. In fact I am down from my last recorded weight, even though TOM is here. Nicole, I also lose with TOM but a few days after or even a week after my weight either freezes or goes up and I have to chalk it up to residual TOM effect.

Sorry ladies for the long post but I thought I'd catch you up. I haven't had time to read yet but I going to do that now so I can rejoice in how well you've all done. Despite what the scale says I have been having trouble getting back on plan. I have been watching what I eat but I am still doing little cheats here and there and I know it's going to catch up with me so I need to truly get it together so I can continue to lose and reach my goal. Also I set a surgery date for end of November and I'd like to be much closer to my goal when I have this done to be in better shape for the recuperation.
Thanks for reading and now I'll go do the same now.

Well I weighed in at 239.2lbs this morning! That's 10 pounds this month! I am a little worried that I will have a residual TOM gain since I tend to lose during TOM like karmich and I have only been weighing for a month so I don't know if I'll have a gain post TOM.

I've had a great day today, even though I'm not getting any love from my scale. I got my lift from my podiatrist this morning and I finally feel like I can stand up straight and not walk with a hitch. It's fabulous! I think that and continuing to do my physical therapy exercises are going to help a lot with my "bad" leg.

My podiatrist's office just happens to be near a couple of plant nurseries, so I went on a buying spree. It was finally cooler today, so I spent a few hours in the yard planting, which I just love to do. I enjoy the physical exertion and the end result.

Have a great weekend, all!

down to 239.8 this morning! :carrot: That was a very nice surprise! :D

Yesterday morning I was up 1.2 to 242.8 but I knew it was water retention because I had only had 5 hours of sleep and had been on plan, drunk all the water, and did my exercise on Friday. Yesterday I went slightly over on calories, but I drank my water and exercised. Reward: drop of 3 pounds! Glad to get rid of all of that excess water!

I've stayed at 138.2 this week, which is fine with me since I haven't been putting in the effort to eat at a deficit. I haven't been overeating, either, so that's a good thing.

I bought new sneakers yesterday and tried them out on a long walk this morning - they're fabulous! I may never take them off.

Hello folks. :coffee:

Still struggling, still overeating. Ballooned back up to 164 this morning.

I'd like to say I'll be back on plan today but I already overslept and am skipping my early-morning workout. If I feel better later I can make up the workout after work, but I am not really committed to doing that.

I hope everyone's week is off to a better start than mine!

I'm up a bit, to 138.4, due to eating too many sweets yesterday (I made brownies for the Ronald McDonald House and "sampled" a couple). I often don't see a gain until day 2, though, so I'm hoping tomorrow won't be even worse.

I'm starting to worry about the lure of the old eating habits. I just ate a nice little 350 calorie lunch but I'm not full, so I want to keep eating - even though I know that, if I do, I'll feel bad later, both physically and emotionally. So I'm chewing a piece of gum and trying to banish the obsessive thoughts. Fingers crossed!

Hey everyone. Well after being at 151.6 for four days I'm up to 152.8. Boo. But I have not been working out as much as I had been. It has been way too hot and humid to find the motivation most days. I try to get to the gym but I've got to get myself up and out of the house!

Carter Keep working at it. Some times really slow and steady is the way to go.

Steph good luck with that gum. I do the same thing when I don't really need to eat anymore but want to.

Carter Wishing you good strength today. I hope your day got better.

Steph How did your day go? I have those bottomless pit days, too. Sometimes I just have to fill up on some veggies. It's not good when you feel empty nor does it feel good to just eat outside of your normal regimen. Hang in there.

Domlacha Were you able to make it to the gym? Is there a pool near that you can use? Maybe that would be a little more refreshing than a traditional workout.

Steph7409
07-23-2012, 09:45 PM
Diana, I ended up eating a 100-calorie snack and then a protein bar. That would have been fine, except that I came home and had a couple of brownies. I just wish I could be as committed to my eating plan as I am to my exercise. It's not like I had a stressful day or a bad experience that made me want to overeat, I just wanted to eat something tasty. I usually do okay with having that stuff in the house (I've had a bag of raspberry M&Ms, unopened, for weeks now!) but, lately, I'm feeling too tempted. Like you always say, I'm a work in progress, so I'll just have to keep trying to figure it out.

Hi folks. :coffee:

Yesterday was a rough day and I fear today won't be better but I stayed on plan with food at least and dropped back to 161 - so yesterday's big bounce was just bloat from the weekend. Time to start trudging along to get back under 160. Also I am up early enough to get to the gym today, which I shamelessly skipped yesterday. (still not enough sleep though)

Hope things go well for all of you today.

Steph7409

carter, I know you know this, but I'll say it anyway: exercise is a good antidote for depression. You get all those endolphins! (My favorite Annette Bening line of all time.) There have been many times when I've started my workout in tears and ended up feeling better. But try to get some sleep, too. You'll get through this.

I'm up to 139.2, as expected. At least it's under 140, my new line in the sand. And even though I think about going on a binge almost every day, I haven't done it yet. I've overeaten, but not by too much.

And we finally got some rain! Huge thunderstorms last night as I went to bed. I put out the tarp and bucket in my bedroom but didn't get any water - hooray!

Hi Everyone!

I have been having some TTOM insomnia. I have been waking about an hour earlier than the alarm. That is better than it used to be. I used to wake in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep. It's almost 8 here. I am going to finish my posts, do a couple other things, and get ready for bed. The plan is to be in bed by 9 PM. :tired:

Carter Sending positive vibes your way. :goodvibes:

Steph Stay strong. Hang in there. I have been feeling munchy, this week. I just put two and two together for me. I think it's not only the PMS thing but also losing an hour of sleep each day. All of that makes me want to eat. Heck! I don't need a good reason to want to eat. I need to go to bed now. ;)

Signed back up for WW an hour ago. I've been steadily gaining weight this summer, but I know once class starts again and I'm on campus it will subside. I've got some new mini goals up, and I'm going to reward myself with non food related items, because bread pudding has become my best friend lately. (?!?)

THE GOOD NEWS*
Even though I've gained weight, there is one thing I have been doing all summer, and that is running. I did a 45 min. run tonight. I'm on week 6 out of 10 on 10K training.

aka, try not to get discouraged. You're doing great with your running!

I have to stop with the negative self-talk myself. I'm making myself miserable. I need to get rid of the tempting foods and just try to get back on track.

I got some bad news last night: my firm fired one of my good friends, who has been out on disability for a few months (which they say is irrelevant, but who knows). She's okay with it, but I'm going to miss her. She was my biggest supporter over the last year and one of the few people I could talk to about anything. I'm sure we'll keep in touch but it won't be the same as seeing her every day.

Got out and ran tonight. Took the pup with me.

Steph-My family friend Nancy had the same thing happen to her. She had lunch with her friend at the firm every day for 30 years until she was fired. They are legal secretaries and the attorney her friend worked for retired. Nancy still calls her friend every couple of days on her way to work. It was really hard, but they have gotten together a few times outside of work. Maybe you can do the same thing, and try to invite her over for dinner or to go out sometime.

Diana-Thanks for the encouragement. You are what keeps this thread going, and keeps us all together. Thank you for that.

Good Morning, Everyone!

TTOM is still kicking my butt! I have been going to bed earlier and that seems to be helping me get extra sleep with waking a little early. Still no movement with the scale. I don't expect much with TTOM going on, but not a fan of weight being this high and feeling bloated. When we got back from the 4th of July, I was dealing with an allergic reaction from eating regular foods for a day. On top of that, the next week we ate at the Japanese restaurant (soy). It takes a while for a significant reaction to work its way through my system. Then I started my TTOM. I have to make sure I am aware of all of this and not get frustrated. I remember when I was trying to lose weight, before I was aware of the allergy, these reactions would really throw me for a loop. As we all know one or two pounds can really make a difference in our mental state. I would gain 3 pounds in a day or two and didn't understand what was going on. Then it would take weeks to get it back under control. Anyways, I'm babbling this morning. Patience, patience, patience! :D

Good Morning, Everyone! TGIF!

I hope you have a fantastic Friday and a great weekend!

VENT ALERT - PLEASE IGNORE IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED - I JUST NEED TO GET MY THOUGHTS OUT

I woke up two hours early this morning and didn't sleep well in general last night. There was some drama yesterday with a woman that my Mom used to work with. She called my Mom's friend yesterday and was stirring up some stuff. My Mom's friend called to tell me about it. Everyone knows me to be a quiet and reserved person. My Mom was also a very private person. I avoid drama at all costs. So did my Mom. I'm not sure where the real drama is. Sometimes people will make it sound like one thing but it's not really like that. I am about the show the whole bunch of them what I am made of and nip the whole thing in the bud. Ugh! People really piss me off! The sad thing is that I just lost my Mom and these people really have nerve to bother me with such trivial crap. Also, not that I sit around feeling sorry for myself, but I really don't have any family left. In recent years I have lost both of my parents and I don't have any siblings. I have recently made contact with my Mom's side of the family and that seems to be going in a positive direction. I think I have really been strong and handled this whole thing well. I can't believe people would act like this with me. This woman my Mom worked with called my Mom's friend and wanted to know what I was going to do with my Mom's purses! Purses! I will freaking burn every one of the purses before I give her anything! Then she wanted to know why I kept everything hush hush about my Mom passing. It was my Mama, I did things the way she wanted it, and I will keep things hush hush if I want to. It is none of her business. Did I mention that people really piss me off? That woman is so lucky she didn't call me about that crap. She definitely would have gotten an ear full. I won't go into it, but my Mom's friend is on my last nerve, too. Again, I am about to get rid of the whole bunch. They are about to see a side of me they never knew existed. Anyways, sorry about the vent! I can't believe how much this was weighing on me last night and how I couldn't sleep. Scale is up this morning. TTOM is still kicking my butt. I'm sure the lack of sleep last night didn't help matters. Did I mention that people freaking piss me off!

HealthyMe-That's a great game plan. You're definitely mentally prepared.

Sluggerbean-I'm glad you're down a pound and feeling good!

Diana-That's it. You're back in control!

Two things.

1. A young girl rear ended me the other night. There was no where to pull over so I pulled into a grocery store, and expected her to follow me. Well she just kept going and I didn't get her plates. I'm so mad. Now my back hurts, and I'm sitting here at work at a desk all day. Will be seeing someone about it on Monday.

2. What'd everyone think of the opening ceremonies?

Steph7409

I had a great time at the picnic (we had a little rain, but not as much as we feared) and ate way too much. But I know that, a year ago, I would have eaten even more and never felt full whereas, today, I did feel full and that kept me from completely stuffing myself. And I came home and did 40 minutes on the bike, rather than grabbing that bag of M&Ms I have and hitting the couch. So even though I'm still struggling, I know I'm better off than I was.

DH and I went to an event yesterday. I didn't have a lot of control over the food situation, so I did the best that I could. Of course, there is always room for improvement. Saturday is my higher calorie day and the day that I try to have something a little different than I eat during the week. My calories were higher than what I normally have on Saturday. Hey folks. Been away this weekend, haven't weighed in or caught up on the thread yet, but I just wanted to thank Steph for this:

carter, good job staying away from the binge behavior. I know how hard that can be. And congrats on getting back below 160! It sounds like the mid-150s might be your "not too hard to maintain" range. For me, that seems to be the high 130s (I'm a couple of inches shorter). Like you, I'd like to get lower but I'm not sure I can do it without more effort than I can muster right now (or ever).

You are probably right - I have been thinking for a while that 155-160 may turn out to be my manageable maintenance range, even though I wanted it to be lower. I am not a willowy physical type - I have a solid, muscular frame, broad hips, and large breasts - so even though 155-160 is outside of the nominally healthy BMI range for my height, it is not really appreciably overweight for me as an individual. So, it might be a sensible idea to start thinking of myself as a maintainer in this range, rather than continue to frustrate myself trying to lose more.

Sorry I haven't been able to post much...doing 2 classes at the gym most days, then going doing things for Mother, myself and Church..not much time.
Plus when I am on the IE..I've been reading motivational quotes to keep my mind focus on what, where I am going w/my weight and life Issues.

WI@ 151.4 today,up 2 lbs for the month so far..after my branching out moment at the start of the month.Even though I didn't branch out and eat bad stuff, just learned about some healthy food that cause cravings for me and really..trying to work out all that.. I needed to fill/strengthen my mindset with nothing but Motivational/inspirationing things. Order has been restored!!

Now,Really working on only eating when I'm hungry.Come dinner time I'm not hungry. It's like I have to force food down :dizzy: working on making other meals smaller and see how that goes..spread them out or something.

Thanks Diana! :) I know I've got a long road ahead but I am looking forward to getting to goal and learning the maintenance side of this.

Today's weigh in was 258.2. Stayed the same, which rocks since we went out to Golden Corral for lunch yesterday. Buffets are not fun for folks trying to lose weight! But no gain...I'm happy with that. :)

Can y'all believe the month is almost over? Holy cow where did the summer go? School starts back here in a couple of weeks...and my 4 year old will be starting Pre-K! Oh wow...they grow up so fast!

Good Morning, Everyone!

I'm hoping that yesterday was my last day of TTOM (it was day 11) and does not stick around another day. We'll see.

Calories for yesterday: 1495 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 149.4
Down: .4

Healthymewannabe Keep up the great work. You obviously did well at the restaurant, yesterday.

Healthyme, you're doing great!

Ona, I'm glad to see you're doing so well.

Diana, I bet you're looking forward to menopause. I was so relieved to put TTOM behind me!

I weighed in at 137.8 today, which is astonishing considering I came thisclose to having a major binge yesterday. I ate like the crazy person I used to be (still am?) but tried to abate some of the damage with a lot of exercise. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow.

And this morning, I realized my digital scale has the wrong height (I got it back when I thought I was 5'5" - if only!) so I corrected it, and my body fat % went up 2 points - boooo! I know these scales aren't that accurate anyway but it's still annoying.

Who's going to start the August thread?

Good morning everyone! I think this is the first Monday in a while that I did not weigh in at more then Sunday! My weight was the same this morning at 148.4, which is good. I did enjoy the food at my aunt and uncles. They had pork tenderloin, homemade potato salad, bread and cheese, sliced veggies and ice cream. I managed to somehow eat a slice of pizza from the night before out of their fridge. I hoping the scale does not go up tomorrow.

Hey Ona good to see you!!!

Steph congrats on the weigh in, hopefully it sticks around.

Diana I hope tom is done visiting you!

Healtymewannabe sounds like you were able to not go overboard at the buffet. Sometimes staying the same in weight is ok.

I am back after a vacation (staycation), during which I chose not to weigh myself and just enjoy my time off from work. I knew I would pay a price, but it's a choice I made. So back to the real world and let's get on with it.

aka8941, you're getting so close to 200, keep it up!

Steph I am ready for something, although I don't know what! I'm scared to wish for something because I might end up in a worse situation.
Stay strong against the binge. Have you ever read this book? http://www.amazon.com/Brain-over-Binge-Conventional-Recovered/dp/0984481702 I am reading it now. It seems to be written from a different prospective.

Domlacha Good job this weekend!

AKA How are you feeling from the accident? Congrats on the pound.

Martine Welcome back! ;) I have been known to really enjoy a staycation.

I can start the new thread for August, if you want. I'm not very good at catchy phrases/names/titles, etc. Any name suggestions for the new thread?

So it's over....and I've lost 20lbs!!! Really sticking to it and it totally paid off.
I'm ready for August, so if you make a new thread I'll be there!!
I guess just name it the same as this just August..easiest in my opinion.

Good morning, folks! Hope everyone is doing well.

Congrats Viking! Amazing!

Aka -- what a great last few days you've had!

Steph -- it's funny how we never completely leave that crazy person behind.

Well, I'm on my last two weeks of summer vacation. It surely has flown. Hubs has a business trip to the beach and I'm tagging along. We're heading out tomorrow. I'm sooo looking forward to it.

Holding steady at 216. ready to see some movement!

Weighed in at 137.2 this morning. I'm still skeptical.

I went for a walk last night and felt very slow - I'd had too many carbs, it was hot and humid. But I checked my time after the first lap and it was great. And my second lap was just as good. Maybe it was because I seemed to always be walking into the wind, even when I changed direction!

See you all in the August thread.

I was getting ready to post the new thread and saw this one. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/100-lb-club/263817-100-lb-club-august-daily-weigh-thread.html I'm confused. Is this the new thread? Someone let me know, so I can get my stuff started. If not, I can start a new one.

Hey everyone! July and I did pretty well together. I made my goal and am quite happy.

Diana I'm not sure about that other thread. I don't think I've seen the poster in this thread before but we'll see.

See you all in August!
