I thought I read in the book (I could have an older version?) that you could have NO fruit or berries etc, no water melons of any kind on phase one but I just ran across a site with recipes for phase one and they have this listed as phase 1 food?

FRUITS—FRESH and FROZEN

One serving of fruit per day in Phase 1 (increase to 2 servings in Phase 2 and 3 servings in Phase 3).

- Berries

Blackberries

Blueberries

Cranberries

Raspberries

Strawberries

- Cherries

- Citrus

Grapefruit

Lemon

Lime

What was the site? There are other plans that have Phases. This sure doesn't sound like SBD.

Ah, I have seen this before. It is from MizFrog's Pad (http://www.mizfrogspad.com/diet.html). She has a modified version of South Beach Diet that she calls "Sensible Eating for Life" or SEL.

She brings up some points that have been discussed on this board (How my personal diet plan (http://www.mizfrogspad.com/Diet/SELvsSBD.htm)differs from the South Beach Diet plan (http://www.mizfrogspad.com/Diet/SELvsSBD.htm)) but to be clear, she is modifying the principles of SBD to her own beliefs, including not eating any pork or shellfish...

So no, berries and other fruit are NOT part of SBD Phase 1.
