Ok, so this is weird... I started preconditioning diet on Monday.. everything has been fine all week digestion wise, just really tired and headaches. Today I started the HNS and had one of the bars and now all of a sudden I have horrendous gas.. doesn't bad gas mean you intolerant to something?? Has anyone else had this side effect?

I don't know what are in the bars you describe but if they have fiber as inulin, that can give people really wicked gas. It's the same thing that's in fiber one bars.

I'll have to look and see.. I called the center and they said it was my body adjusting to all the protein... hmmmm

I've found I have bad gas when I don't follow the program. When I'm OP, no gas whatsoever.

i have no idea, but I've been OP 100% (for real!!) LOL It's getting better.. the consultant today said she thinks it's the veggies, I eat a lot of broccoli and I haven't eaten a lot of veggies in the past

Well, broccoli will do it for sure. So will onions and cabbage. For me, the VHP meal replacement shakes are brutal. Not painful but lets just say you don't want to be in a confined space with me. I still have them, because I really like how long they stick with me when I have one for breakfast,, but whoa!

Glad to know I am not the only one with BAD gas. It has happened twice now. Been OP for almost two months. First time was just after starting the HNS. Last time was last week. Feels like I am in labor.

I too experienced the gas issue during my first week on the HNSs. Seems to have passed now. My husband was in shock, but I couldn't help it!! :o

The primary sweetener in HNS is sucralose (splenda). For many including me it causes GI related issues. So the gals at my MRC worked hard to find which HNS products have the lowest amount of sucralose. Their products also use a lot of maltodextrin - which can bring on the GI issues.
