So what does this taste like?? (EDIT-Warning-mention of unhealthy food)
EDIT-If talking about unhealthy food is a trigger for you, then maybe this thread will be a trigger, as it includes the mention of healthy and unhealthy food. For others it might have the opposite effect, but just in case, there you go.
Soo I was thinking - maybe we could do a thread where we post foods that we are curious about - and we can tell each other what they taste like?
Here's some of mine -
churros
Fried oreos, fried twinkies, fried any dessert
Taco Bell - in general - I've had Chitpotle and local Mexican food, but does Taco Bell have some sort of special "flavor" to it that makes it so good? I guess I want to know the appeal (like I grew up with KFC and I think that their gravy has this interesting spice and sorta grainy texture, and McD's filet o' fish is sorta AMAZING)

Taco Bell tastes like...Taco Bell. Honestly, it's got its own flavor, just like McDonalds, that you can not recreate in your own kitchen no matter how much you stick to the original ingredients. It's not a good flavor, though - it tastes like cheap Mexican food to me. Homemade tacos all the way!
I think it could be fun to ask and talk about foods that we'ld like to try, so long as the foods are healthy, but talking about fast foods and other high-calorie fare, sort of falls into the "food porn" category.
Food porn can trigger cravings and hunger, so it's usually not the best idea. Some people see to do ok with it (but I'm mystified by that - hearing about food makes me want to try it - so if it's healthy, low-cal foods I can add to my diet - yippy - but if it's food that's hi in carb/calorie/fat (especially all three) not so great.
Why not just make a reasonable plan to try these foods? Thinking/imagining them might end in a binge. Just make room in your calorie intake for half or a quarter of one and have at er.
Taco Bell is BOMB baby! Love the Dorito taco! If you plan right, you can have a taco or two into your lunch/supper plan. Their supreme taco on a crunchy shell is 200 calories. The ones without sour cream are even lower.
I am curious as to what Nuetella tastes like. I've never had it and hear people rave about it all the time.
It tastes like chocolate, just as advertised, with a strong nutty flavor. Almost like you'd imagine a melted Ferrero Rocher would taste like LOL. I bought a jar but haven't been eating it...it's just OK and not worth the fat to me.
churros = sorta like fried pastry rolled around in sugar. Closet american food that I know of might be something like a cross between donut or funnel cake. Only funnel cake is powdered sugar. And churro is regular granulated sugar.
Nutella is like hazelnut chocolate frosting to me. That's about all it is. Fun, for frosting cupcake maybe. I don't get it when I see these ads about putting it on toast for breakfast. So odd to me.
Most fast food is not real whole food -- it's been engineered to taste really good because of fat, salt and sugar in it.
I'd be more interested in tasting exotic (to me) food from other countries than fast food items.
Nutella. Oh boy I am a Nutella queen. Had to quit that stuff haha. OK, it tastes like...milk chocolate with a hint of hazelnuts or almonds - but its not overwhelming, but there's no hazelnut bits. Its not as "thick" as peanut butter, but its quite thick.
Butternut squash, no clue!
Also another one - spaghetti squash?
Here's one. What do asparagus and butternut squash taste like? I don't even know how to eat an asparagus.
Butternut squash sounds like something I might like.
Asparagus is def worth trying - its almost like...an earthy sort of taste. Its kind of like if spinach had a deeper more "savory" taste to it, but its not super strong. Its almost like slightly nutty and depending on how long you cook it, it can be slightly crisp to very smooshy. Its very filling.
I'm not a big Taco Bell fan, I never have been. One of my friends described their bean burritos as " a paper napkin dipped in refried beans" I have always remembered that description because that's what it tastes like.
