Figured I'd start a new thread:D

Terri, I'm happy to hear you had a Happy Birthday. I feel bad that Bruce will be gone for awhile. Thank God you have the kids to keep you company.

When I came in to check on the new posts I loved how colorful it looked. Since I have a new computer I have to start all over with new GIF's.

Well, I have to get ready for my orientation at Curves. I'll keep you posted.

Have a great day Buddies. ;)

Es,
Thanks. I feel bad too. I just took him to the airport. :(
I feel so weird. He was crying and that tore me up.
I hope it goes fast and problem free. I hate all the flying.
Hope you like Curves.

Sounds like you had a nice birthday, so sorry that Bruce has to be gone for 6 weeks. Will you get to visit him while he is in Colorado? Wow, you recieved Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, that is my favorite musical!!

ES, how was curves today?

OOPS, I just looked at the time, I better jump in the shower, I've got a test at 9 am this morning, I NEED TO STUDY A FEW MINUTES BEFORE SCHOOL!!

I'll come back this afternoon to say hello to the rest of you.

Ruth,
Hope you did well on the test today.
Bruce will come home for the weekend at Easter and then he will come back on May 20 and then 2 days later we will all go to Col. Springs with him for the summer and then we will come back for school and he will stay until October. It is a 6 mo. duty. Can't wait until Halloween. Never thought I'd say that.
I love Seven Brides... My daughter loves it too. We watched it already.

Glad you birthday was good :D I hope the 6 months go by quickly for you! It sounds as tho you'll be in CO alot longer than last year? I know how much you like it there...something to look forward to!

Ruth,

It sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday but bittersweet farewell today. I know the time will pass quickly. Steve and I were apart for 1.5 years. (he finished school before me and got a job in Boston.) We would see each other every couple of weekends. It gives you something to look forward to.

Es,
How was curves? I was good yesterday exercise wise anyway. 30 min treadmill, 30 min lifecycle, and 2 mile walk. Pointswise I went over, but I had had a rough counseling session. I needed chocolate

Ruth,
Good luck on that test!

Donna,
How did your Dr apt go? I hope everything is OK.

OMG! Someone take me out and shoot me!! I am such a pig! I had a salad with grilled chicken and then to top it off I had ring dings. Then one of my co-workers was selling candy and I bought a hershey AND kitkats! Holy moly, I can't stop:devil:

Well, I'll just chuck it off to a REALLY BAD DAY, and try to get back on track tomorrow. I can't say later because I already know its just not gonna happen - I will continue to pig out for the rest of the night.

SAVE ME!!!!!!!!

Oh, well, tomorrow's another day.............

Hugs to everyone,

Dianne,
Welcome to my life! You know it's just a temporary lapse..and you'll be back OP tomorrow. It's when those kind of days follow one after the other that we have to worry.....

Es,
How was Curves? I'm hoping you liked it, it'd be cool for you to have a new place to work out at. :strong:

I drove into the city for a haircut today. I continue to go to my guy cause the price is good and he knows my hair. Joe hates short hair and swears that each time I get a cut, it's shorter. NOT! He just has a mental block and doesn't realize that it's been the same for about 4 years now. Only the color changes ;)

It's been dark and raining all day here, I'm glad to be home. I've got pizza crust going in the bread machine, so dinner is a no-brainer. Just have to stick with my 2 pieces :ink:

Have a great Friday evening, everyone! Even tho I'm no longer working, Friday continues to be my favorite day of the week :D

Hi Girls,

I just woke up a 1/2 hour ago to an email that has me so stressed out I have a headache! David emailed me to tell me he was at a light & got hit from behind. He didn't say he was hurt but his friend was with him & his back hurts. When it's not one thing it's another. His trunk is all pushed in.

Be back later. Have to call my sister.

Love you's,
Es

Morning everyone:

Es- I'm sorry about David and the car, I hope he's okay. Please let us know, amiga.

Terri - Sorry about Bruce leaving. I hope the time goes by quickly and I know you and the kids will look forward to summer in Colorado. You seemed to really enjoy it last year. Glad you had a good birthday.

Janie - Great job on the exercising girl.

Jen - When you say you "go into the city" you do mean Chicago right? I know what you mean about going to the same person for a haircut. Once you like what someone does, you want to stay with that person. I found a place near the University - they charge a little high, but do a good job. So, I usually wait untill I can't stand it anymore and then I go get the cut.

Hey ZoeGirl - How ya doing? How's little Zoe - that cutey~

Donna - How did your appointment with the Dr. go?

Ruth - How did your test go?

Hi Sandy - how are you?

Well, gotta go get my nails done - they're starting to look a bit raggedy. Then, we're off to see Jessa and the gang. We have to get our "Jessa fix":smug:

Oh, I meant to ask does anyone know how to use the "signature" feature on here? Terri??? HINT... HINT:lol:  I finally changed my "avatar", but there doesn't seem to be anything to click on for the signature.

Hope everyone has a great day - and I'll talk to you's tomorrow.

Good Saturday Morning my Friends ~

I just got in from my Weight Watcher meeting. Today, the first time in 7 months of attending, I chose not to weigh. My scale at home didn't really go up much, maybe "point 2" but I just had a bad week and a 'point 2' gain last week. I really didn't want to see any gain, if there was one. So next week, I am planning on having a great week with a big loss. :)

Some of you may know (and some of you have the same) My 'downfall food' is Chinese and I still haven't conquered it. In these last 7 months, I didn't have it for almost 6. Then we went to this Chinese buffet and it wasn't pretty. :( I had it a total of 3 times in the last 6 or so weeks (2 of those times the last 2 Saturdays) and have found that those are my weeks when the scale doesn't look good. So I think I need to keep away from it. Today will be the test ~ we will be going over to the new house and there is this wonderful Chinese buffet only 3 blocks from the house. Since being there the last 2 Saturdays, I'm not feeling strong. I'm not good at a Chinese Buffet and surely, not yet, not until I lose the rest of my weight. I only have 11.4 to go so why am I trying to sabbotage myself at every turn? <sigh>

Thanks for listening....love you guys.

Es ~ I hope David is okay. Sorry about the car though.

Jenny523
03-29-2003, 07:31 PM
Es,
I hope David is okay, not suffering any after-effects of the accident. That's a shame, hope his car is driveable?

Dianne,
Yes, I do mean Chicago. We used to live on the northwest side of the city, about 10 miles from downtown. Now we're in a burb that's 18 miles nw of the city limits; taking the expressway or not, it takes 30 to 45 minutes to get in...not too bad.
I know exactly what you mean about getting your "Jessa fix" :D Hope you have a great visit.

Zoe,
that Chinese food is really having it's way with you. That is amazing how it affect our bodies, isn't it? I don't blame you for skipping the scale this week. I've read/heard that the closer you get to goal, the harder/longer it is. You have done so well, I'm sure that last 11 will be gone soon. :D

We just spent the afternoon in Home Depot and then at Joe's favorite micro-brewery....a real "guy" type Saturday! There are a zillion projects to do around here, we've been picking out paint colors, checking out bathroom fixtures (will be gutting the main bath soon). Thank God Joe is handy, we save lots on labor costs!

have a great Saturday night!

Hi Girls,

What a day! We spent all afternoon with David. He treated Pete & me to the Chinese Buffet. :D Zoe, we just can't stay away from it. I'll pay for it for the next 2 days. Drink lots of water. ;)

Dave's trunk looks pretty bad. It was a hit & run but his friend got the license plate. It was a Ford Explorer that ran into him so he got hit high & hard. His neck hurrts a little & his friend's lower back. I feel so bad for him. This is twice he's been hit & it wasn't even his fault. He was at a light! Thank God my baby is okay.

I love Curves! I was sweating so much. It's so close to my house. I really really like it alot.

Jen, I'm going to be doing my Spring cleaning soon. I change curtains buy new sheets & shower curtains towels. It makes me feel good so I know how you feel.

Zoe, I don't blame you for not weighing in. By next week you'll have a loss.

Dianne, do you get a regular manicure or fill-ins? I had mine done & I don't like it. Now it's hard to get the acrylic off. Give that cutie Jessa a big kiss!

Well, my friends, I'm pooped. I'll be back tomorrow.

Hugs,

Goodmorning;)

The weekend went by very fast. It's rainy here in LI. I'm going food shopping then I'll be home all day. I have to clean.

Terri, I know you're going to miss Bruce alot. Easter will be here before you know it. It's nice that you'll be going back to Colorado Springs. I know you really enjoyed it last time. How's Tanner? Where are you getting all these cool GIF's with your name?

Janie, good going on exercise. Exercise is great for stress. I noticed when I stress at work I want chocolate. One of the attorney's I work with always has Dove chocolates on her desk. I usually have 2 for 2 pts.

Zoe, we eat chinese food once a week. Yesterday we had it & this morning my hands are puffy. When will your house be ready? It's so beautiful.

Ruth, hope you did good on your test. ;) How's the baby doing?

Curves is closed today. :( I'm going to try to go 5 days a week.

Hi Donna & Sandy:wave:

Have a great day.

Love you guys,

Good Sunday morning, everyone :)

Dianne,
To change/add a signature line...at the top of the screen, click on "User CP" then click on "Edit Profile"..scroll down to "Signature" box and enter the text you want to show as your signature line...scroll down to "Submit Modifications" and click on that.

Es,
It's unbelievable that there are people who hit & run. Good for David's friend getting the license #. I drive a small car and am feeling very vulnerable being surrounded by all the suv's.
Glad you like Curves so much! :D I had the feeling you would.

Terri,
How are things going? Joe will be gone in July for a week and I'm already dreading being home alone...at least you have the kids with you. I'm hoping Brandon won't be taking any summer classes, so I can have him here for a few days' visit. I sound like a baby!

Thanks Jen. We are leaving on May 23. The day after school. We will go to Ohio for a few days. It is my parents 50th anniversary.
Then we will leave the first of June so we willl be in Co. for about 2 extra weeks. Can't wait.
That pizza sounds so good. We went to Pizza Hut after the Blue Angels Air show and I had 2 pieces of the golden stuffed crust pizza. This is why I only ordered a large. I couldn't have more even though I wanted to.
Bruce isn't crazy about real short hair either but yesterday in between the Air Show and Pizza Hut I took Brittany to get her hair cut and I decided to get mine done too. They weren't busy so I did it. It is about 5 in. shorter. It is cute but short. In order to look the same way as yesterday I will have to do like she did. I never can but I will try.
That is great Joe is handy. Bruce is too and it does save a lot. Your bath sounds like it will be beautiful.
I couldn't stand it if I were here alone. Bruce admitted he was a little scared being in a 3 bedroom apt. alone. He bought a night light and made me swear not to tell anyone. I haven't told anyone he actually knows yet and I might be able to keep this little secret. I might have to tell my mom. She will think it is cute cause she just loves him. She is great at keeping secrets.

Thanks Janie. We did this before we moved to Al. He was on extended TDY here and then we moved after a year of that.
It will be nice when he comes home on the Friday the 18th. He wanted me to got to a hotel becaue he felt I needed time by myself and then Easter Day I'd come home and we would do our Easter traditions. But I said I wanted to be with him and he was glad I said that. We compromised. I will go Friday (Kids are out of school that day) afternoon and he will take the kids to a movie and I will relax and he will come over for a dinner date and
:censored:  Then he will go home and I will leave Saturday afternoon.

Es,
I am so sorry about Dave but Thank God he wasn't hurt. It is always the person in the backs fault right? That happened to me a few years ago. I was stopped and some idiot guy ran right into me. His insurance paid for everything. I hope his friend is ok.
I am glad you like Curves. We have one downtown. Sounds nice.
I know you meant Bruce. Nothing is going on between Joe and me Jen. Tanner is great. Starting to settle down a lot. He is so cuddly. I just love him. How is your kitty and Susie? A friend makes the gifs and sends them to me. I get like 6 for every season. I don't know how to make them.

Dianne,
I have been there so many times. You are only human.
You are sking the wrong person about the signature so if anyone knows let me know. I got that chihuahua on there by mistake. I still don't know how I did that.

Zoe,
I guess you should just stay away until you hit that goal and then you could go every once in awhile and go right after weigh-in and watch the rest of the week. Drink lots of water and then you should maintain which is what you will want to be wanting to do anyway. It will be something to look forward to. I weigh on Sat. and I never go except on Sat. afternoons. Don't let those numbers on the scale get you down. You are doing GREAT!!!!!

Well speaking of Chinese Buffet. We are going to one tonight and then no more restaurants for 3 weeks. Maybe an occasional takeout of fast food for the kids but not me. I am going to try the no bread thing until Easter. School starts tomorrow and I will probably miss Bruce more then. He said he wants to call every day a couple times and asked if that was ok. His cell has free unlimited long distance. I said "What a question" Of course. Of course his timing is soooooo bad. He called twice yesterday,
the 1st time was when the Blue Angels were literally ready to take off and the second time was when I was in the chair getting my hair cut and this morning I was making 4 sunny side up eggs and the toast popped up and the eggs were ready to come out and the phone rang. 3 for 3. Maybe he will call when I start putting the dye on Brittany's hair. He is going to start thinking I don't want to talk to him cause they all sound like excuses. I always call right back.

TTYL,
Ruth,
I hope the test went well.

Too funny, Terri, about you and Joe. I saw that this morning and did a double take  but forgot to mention it. Now it looks as tho Es has changed it.
You'll be leaving on my birthday! Wow the kids are really out early, huh? That's so cute about Bruce and the night light. I'd be feeling the same way. What a milestone for your parents...50 years. Awesome. Is anything special planned for them? This year Joe and I will celebrate 32 years, I can't even believe that. How did all those years go by and we are still young?

The no bread thing sounds challenging. I'm wiping the slate clean today for tomorrow's new beginning. We moved the exercise bike from the garage, where it was gathering dust, into the house. Between that, walking outdoors, and the WATP tapes, I will have no excuses and many choices.

Good Morning Ladies,

After telling you how I've been so good at exercise I didnt do any this weekend. Steve and Ellen were away camping and I had my workshop on Bioterrorism (It was a defense and deterence class, not a how to  ) It was such an intense class that when I got home I pretty much ate dinner, read a little, and passed out. I will have to walk and do an aerobics class today. It was a lot easier to stay OP with the family gone though.

Think I've decided to get another master's degree, this time in National Security. We'll see how far I get since I will only be able to handle 1 class per quarter. I still have to turn in a paper for the Bioterrorism class :stress:

Es,
I will pray for David and his friend. I am so sorry that it had to happen. I remember when Steve was hit and run last year. At lease you have the plate #. Steve was alone and too shook up to get it.

Ruth,
How was that test girlfriend?

Donna,
any news on your cyst? :?:

Jen,
Thanks for that weird web site. It was cool!!
Zoe,
I am the same way about Asian food, although I am worse with Thai than Chineese. Fortunately none of the resteraunts around here have the all you can eat buffet. That at least provides some control. :ink:

Terri,
I have to tell you, I was alone this weekend and hardly noticed that they were gone. That's because I was so busy. My advice is Keep busy and the time will go very quickly.

Sandy,
How is your mom doing? Is she able to get out on her own yet?

Well I guess I've written enough, I hope I didn''t miss anyone. Have a beautiful day (it;s supposed to be in the mid-70s today)

I played hookie from work today. I felt so tired this morning. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to stay home. I know tomorrow I'll have a pile of work on my desk but I don't care. I enjoyed staying home doing nothing. I did go to Curves.

Janie, I find it hard sometimes to squeeze in exercise.

Janie,
I am keeping pretty busy. I actually cleaned base boards today and I thought I would not clean as much with him gone. I fooled myself. I guess I care what the house looks like not just wanting him to think it looks nice.
Good luck with the Bioterrorism paper. Sounds intense.

Terri,
great gifs! I wasn't offended by the biker, and the one of the scale is cool. Joey won a bid on ebay and purchased Babe, the movie about the pig, for me! I loved that movie and wanted to buy it, but found it's no longer in print. He got it new, on dvd, for only $13. :D

Es,
sometimes we need a day off like that. Hope you got some rest.
How's David doing?

Janie,
too funny about explaining to us that it wasn't a "how to" Bioterrorism workshop! Very commendable that you're going to pursue another master's. I love Thai food also, you'd think I'd like chinese :?: The Thai food seems fresher, if that makes sense...also much more flavorful/spicy.

Joe has been battling a cold/flu since Saturday. Of course he went to work yesterday; this morning he's still in bed, so I'm hoping he'll give in and stay home. He needs it. I awoke with a really bad sore throat this morning, so now I've got it too.

Happy April Fool's Day everyone:

I love April 1st - to me that signals spring, guess cause March sounds like winter still;)

Janie - you just missed ME, no biggie:lol: I too, am very glad that your bio-terrorism class was not a "how to" class:lol: Good luck with the paper.

Jen - Thanks for the info on signatures. I think I thought that was a way to make a fancy signature like Terri's:p I LOVE your picture on the exercise bike:lol: I want to look like that someday! Hope you and Joe feel better soon.

Es - Good for you, taking the day off - we all need that once in awhile - a mental health day. Hope David is doing well. Oh, about the nails, I get my own nails silk-wrapped. So, its like having a covering for your nails, which are already long. The problem is you have to keep having it done every 2-3 weeks.

Terri - Too funny about Bruce and the night-lite - I don't blame him though. Now that there's just me and willie at home, when he goes to a concert, I keep the t.v. on and just fall asleep like that. Feels like I'm not alone. He just shuts it when he get in.

Hey ZoeGirl - I know what you mean about sabataging yourself - last year I was about 3 lbs from goal and just went to **** with myself. I don't know why either. You've been doing really great, so don't get down on yourself. Keep in mind how far you've already come - you've been amazing and an inspiration to me for sure! :bravo:

Hi Ruth, Donna and Sandy - how are you guys?

Speaking of concerts, next week Willie is playing at Nassau Community College - he has gotten together with Justin's JHS music teacher, and he and about 13 other musicians meet every Wednesday night for "jam" sessions. He loves it and now he will be playing and singing at the gig. He's been practicing every night - I almost forgot how romantic a singer he is  When we first got together he played with a band and he would dedicate this song to me (in spanish) "Tu's Ojos Verde" (your green eyes) - so cool. So, I can't wait to see him in action again.

Well, I gotta get back to work - talk to you's soon.

Hi everyone,

Let's see if I can get caught up on the post.

JANIE, good luck with getting the second masters. What is your first master's?

DIANNE, what concerts oes Willie go to without you? Does he perform in them? That is so neat that he sings. What type of music does he sing? My youngest daughter has a beautiful voice, but hasn't ever really tried to do anything with it.

JEN, I hope you and Joe get to feeling better. Wow, you have been married 32 years, you must have been a baby when you guys married!!

ES, how is David? Did they ever find the guy who hit him? With hit and run it is usually three things, either drinking and driving, no license, or no insurance. How did you enjoy your day of playing hookie?

TERRI,I know you probably can't wait for next few months to go by so that you can join Bruce in Colorado. You guys must have gotten married in 1983, Maurice and I married Nov 1984, we are working on 19 years together.

DONNA and SANDI, I hope you girls are okay.

Well, I'm happy to say that I'm down another 2.2 lbs. for a total of 14 lbs in 5 weeks. WW online gave me a message about losing to fast when I entered my weight. So, I bought a multiple vitamin and Viactiv calcium chews. Decided I didn't want to take any chances.

As for losing to fast, I'm staying with in my points, in fact, most days I eat at the maximum and I only walk occasionally, I'm really surprise to lose this fast.

For those of you that asked, I bombed on my Econ test Friday. All is not lost though, he allows us to drop our lowest grade, so all I need to do is ace the final, which is not cumulative.

I'm on Spring Break this week and I've got tons of things to do. I spent yesterday cleaning and trying to organize. My youngest (pregnant) daughter is moving back home tomorrow. (I think) It's going to be crazy around here with 3 adults and 3 babys. But we will make the best of it!!

Talk to you later,
Ruth

Hi Girls:wave:

I want to thank all of you for asking about David. He's here with me & I was just telling him how my online friend's have been asking about him. He gave me this big smile. He went to the chiropractor today. He's very sore. The PT said he has muscle spasms.

Ruth, sounds like you're going to have a full house. Wow, 3 babies! Can I have one? WTG with your loss. :cp: :dancer:

Janie, too bad about the flatware. :( Like you said hopefully it went to a needy family. I had a nice Tuesday. ;)

Dianne, silk wraps are expensive aren't they? I have the acrylic. I get them done every 2 weeks. That's the only thing I really do for myself. Really cool about Willie.

Jen, I hope you & Joe are feeling better.

Hi Terri:wave:

Hello Friends

Another quiet evening. We watched American Idol and then I had my dessert ~ a pear cut into cubes with fat free cool whip on it. Yum!! Today is day #2 of staying OP. I've been so "off" the last few weeks. Ever since vacation I think. I gained 2 weeks ago ~ only a .2 but still......then last Saturday, I chose not to weigh and used my "no weigh" coupon. I am determined to have a nice loss this coming Saturday.

I don't have any time to talk to all of you's but know that I've been reading and am thinking about you all. What wonderful friends you all are and I love you all........

P.S. Here is an updated pic of the house.....I'm getting so excited.

Hello! I have been away for a while. Really didn't have much to post. I've been trying to catch up on your posts and I will probably leave something out but sorry in advance!

Terri, I can't even imagine being without my dh for that long. I know that you will find a way to keep occupied. You have wonderful friends here who care a lot for you so vent here when you are lonely. :grouphug:

Es, So sorry to hear about David's accident. How can any one live with themselves knowing they did damage or maybe even killing some one and had just drove off. I will never understand. I hope the chirporactor helps him and that he continues to do well. Just so thankful it wasn't any worse.

Ruth, congratulations on your loss and your GAIN!!! The gain being a new baby!!! Do three babies live with you?? Wish you lived near me so when I get that 'baby fever' I can just go to your house and get a whiff of baby head and be done with it!

Dianne, didn't know you had a musician in your home! That's way cool! I know that it will be a great experience for him.

Zoe, another great picture of your house!!! I know you are just loving seeing this progress AT LAST, right??!!

Jen, did I read that right??? 32 years of marriage??? WOW That's just great! Hope you and your hubby get to feeling better. Jim and I will be married 19 years this October. Our anniversary is October 11, 1984.

Janie, don't feel alone being in the forgetful dept. I have misplaced my treasured digital camera and it's been driving me crazy. Seems like I can't remember much like I used to. You are not alone.......... :)

Update on my cyst. I went last week to the doctor and he said that he wants to have another ultra sound done in a few weeks to see if it goes away on it's own. He said that sometimes they burst and that will be very painful and messy. He did a pelvic exam on me and on my left side it hurt so very much. I am hoping it will just go away. If not, the surgery can be done laproscopicly and without me having to have a hysterectomy. (sorry spelling is way off I'm sure) Anyway, been feeling good and except for batteling a little bit of depression I'm good.

Have a good evening, ladies! Sorry I have not been posting lately. :sorry:

Donna,

Currently my husband and I live in a mobile home. My 9 year old grandson lives with us during the week. Tomorrow my 21 year old daughter who is pregnant will be moving in with her 2 little girls. The baby is due May 12, so things will be hopping around here. So actually, there will be 3 adults, a 9 year old, a 4 year old and a (almost) 2 year old living under this little bit of space!! Of course, during the summer Nicholas will stay with his mom, so that will give Angela and her family a little more room. I imagine my husband and I will be spending weekends out of town!! LOL

I hope you find your digital camera SOON! I would go crazy if I lost mine. It is my pride and joy!! Yesterday I printed some photos I took last May at the beach in Mississippi, then I framed them, they turned out nice. I also framed some floral photos I took in Texas last August. I plan on taking photography classes someday.

ES, how is your sister doing? She has been in my prayers.

Until tomorrow,

Ruth,
WEIGH TO GO!!! :cp: :cp: You're doing great ! Wow, you will certainly have a full house. Having kids around is fun, in my opinion. I still think ours grew up too quickly, and miss having them here.

Donna,
It was good to hear from you :D Sorry about your digital camera, hope it turns up. The treatment/course of your cyst sounds familiar , my sister has been experiencing the same. Her dr. has also taken the wait and see, for a while...then go for the laprascopic treatment. Good luck!

Es,
David was lucky, thank God he wasn't seriously injured. I don't get my nails done, but have to go for haircuts every 6 to 7 weeks. I guess I'm a low maintenance type.

Joe stayed home again today, which has me worried, as he absolutely never misses work. He's still got a fever, cold symptoms and fatigue. Hearing about SARS isn't helping. If his fever doesn't break by this afternoon, I'm calling the dr. My sore throat pretty much went away, and I'm feeling fine.

To anyone who asked, yes, I was a child bride! We were married when I was 18, two weeks out of high school  and Joe was 19. Now I can look back and say, "What were we thinking?" We eloped...they said it wouldn't last....and here we are. Our anniversary is June 12.

JEN,

Yes, my house will be very busy now. I will have to get use to having little ones around, now I can't leave things lying around just any old place. Nicholas never meddles with anything so I don't have to be as careful. I have a feeling Caylin and Aliyah might be a little bit more curious. LOL

It is so wonderful to hear about a marriage that made it, so many don't.
I hope Joe is feeling better soon. Please keep us informed and I'll keep him in my prayers. The SARS virus is definitely worth getting nervous about.

ZOE, the house is really looking good. I can only imagine how excited you must be.

Well, I better run, need to start working on some school work that I've been ignoring.

Talk to you later.

Ruth, a little busy is an under statement! LOL If you need to come to SC you can escape here. You need a T-shirt my mil once had. On the front it said "Escaped Grandma" and on the back it said: "Don't tell em you saw me!" LOL

Jen, you and I are the low maintenance type! I used to have my nails done every two weeks. Had to have the acrylic because my nails are so weak. It got so aggravating and old having to go back so much so I had them removed. I need a hair cut now real bad but can't find that that is a priority right now! Although Jim told me that he could see the gray real good again and was wondering if I was letting the color grow out! I can't figure out what I did with that camera. I don't recall taking it to the ladies retreat and even asked my room mate if she recalled seeing it and she didn't. I sure hope it turns up! If not... tax refund will buy a new one! ;)

I went to my pilates class this morning. It was as always a good class. They have some new equipment in the gym area that I want to try. I think I will do that tomorrow instead of a class.

Well, have a great day, ladies! I'll talk to you all later!

Hi gals!!

Donna,
My masters and PhD are in Mechanical Engineering. If I decide to get this new MS, it will be in National Security. Steve is really encouraging me. He knows I'm not that excited about the work I am currently doing. I am very strategically driven so I think it would be a good match.

Dianne,
I also have silk wraps. I had acrylic but I hated it. Somehow the silk seems to
feel more natural. I have them redone every 3 weeks. My hair on the other hand, gets cut every 8 weeks (when my bangs start to resemble a sheep dog) and re-highlighted every 4 months.

Jen
This discussion of low or high maintenance, I asked Steve what he thought. He was very diplomatic and said I was in the middle. I think that I agree with him. I'm certainly not low maintenance but there are definately women who are much higher. I think if I weren't working I would be lower maintenance. BTW I hope Joe is feeling better!

Zoe,
Can I move in with you? Your house is gorgeous.

Ruth,
You are going to have a very full house with all those kids. How will you get any studying done?

Terri,
Have you been having trouble with the site again? I type things and they dissappear, and then show up again somewhere else in my post. I always end up having to edit cause things are all jumbbled.

Es,
I hope your Tuesday wasn't too bad especially since it was also your Monday. Good for you for taking a personal day. We all need them some times. I am sorry that David is in that much pain.

Sandy,
are you still with us? I miss you!!!

HAve a great Wed everyone,

JANIE,
Studying will most likely take place at school. The weekends won't be too bad, Aliyah spends almost every weekend with her other grandmother and Caylin spends every other weekend at her daddy's house. (granddaughters have different fathers)

DONNA, the t-shirts sounds very appropriate! LOL

This low/high maintenance intrigues me....especially regarding what everyone here considers herself.

In the past Joe has told me he thinks I'm low maintenance, cause he knows I don't have my nails done, or spend alot on clothes.
However, I've always considered myself kind of in the low to middle range.....love makeup, having hair colored, and bath items.

What about it girls, which are you? It's fun to learn more about each other!

Oh, my!! I'm not sure Jen but I think I may be on the low end but not by choice!!!! LOL  Seriously, I do occassionaly buy an expensive liquid makeup from Estee Lauder but other than that and my hair cut every 6-8 weeks that's about it. I do not buy much clothes for myself but now when it comes to Elena.. that's a different story. I would much rather buy for her than myself. HOWEVER... I do have my moments... have been known to purchase tea cups on ebay (I collect them) or things for the kitchen. Jim and I are both the same on clothes we both hate to clothes shop and I have to be in the mood... :) Which is bad because I find myself all of a sudden without the appropriate things to wear and have to go out and spend a good bit at once on clothes. I know... I'm a little hard to understand. :?: :p LOL :dizzy: OH! I forgot my candles and stuff for the bath!!! Now, maybe I should re-evaluate.. I may be more med range than I thought... HMMMM I know.. this may have been a little more than you really wanted to know about me! :)

Great on the loss Ruth. :bravo: You are doiung great!
Have a great Spring Break.

I like Ruben, Clay, Josh (Cause he is a Marine), both Kimberlys and Traneyse (spell?) I am glad Corey left.

Your house looks great!

Donna,
I hope everything works out ok for you. You will be in my prayers.
Thanks for all of your support. I know you all make me feels so much better. Hope you find your camera.

Ruth,

I consider myself in the middle. Pete believes if you buy cheap you get cheap quality.

Terri, you are a natural beauty. You are very attractive. I remember when I saw your picture. ;)

Zoe, if we all lived close by you could have a workout room & we would go workout at your place. :) Looks great!

Wow, Ruth, busy, busy, household. Sounds like my brother's house. When I come out of there my head feels like it's spinning. :spin: Since it's only Pete & I, it's pretty quiet around here. Watch David have 5 kids:lol:

Janie, my nails are so weak. I take the acrylic off every now & then.

Donna, I cracked up when you mentioned the Tshirt. That's cute! I hope you find your camera. WTG with the pilates class. My brother is going to have pilate classes at his gym soon. You know I'll be there.

Hi everyone,
By yesterday afternoon Joe's fever had subsided and he was feeling much better, just tired. He felt good enough to return to work today. I am so glad, I tend to over-worry when it comes to him.

Dianne,
I was confused when I read your post about Willie....I knew Justin performed, but didn't know that Willie also did! How cool. I'm a groupie from way back, love any type of live music. I'll bet you're proud to see him/them up there

I was glad to see Corey gone from American Idol as well. Survivor tonight!

Janie, you don't have much more to lose. Stay positive. ;)

Jen, I'm glad to hear Joe's doing better. Scary when they get sick. It'll be 1 yr. in June that Pete was very sick & hospitalized. I was looking at him the other day & he looks so healthy & handsome.

Lunch hour is just about over. Be back this evening. Going to get my nails done after work.

Es,
You are so sweet! You can make a day.

Jen,
I don't blame you for worrying. You and Joe had a pretty good scare and that will always be there in your mind. You take good care of each other though.
Speaking of Survivor. Do Heidi and Jenna look skeletal to you?
They keep talking about what great bodies they have and I see bones jutting out at the shoulders and it looks sick. I think Heidi is setting a bad example for her students. She must think she is going to win and not need that job anymore.
Deena's women lecture got on my nerves last week. If she would have said "Never underestimate the power of a woman" one more time I was going to hurl. I believe that but the editors are making it out like that is all she says. CBS knows how to get us.

Janie,
You will have a loss next week. I am sure of it.

Donna,
I am sure it isn't as bad as you think. When I looked at my hips it was more like this :fr:

Es,
Curves is for women so of course there are no mirrors.

I did the lawn this morning. 75 degrees. Love it! We are all having sinus problems though. That is the sucky part.
Bruce called this morning. He is on his way back to Col. from Cal. I hate the worrying about flying. I make him call me right after they land. I love cell phones. We are going to Britt's high school musical Sat. They are doing Fiddler on the Roof. They have so much talent. Last year was Little Shop of Horrors. The singing and dancing was phenominal.

Jenny523
04-03-2003, 10:25 PM
Terri,
Your gif of Sylvester looks exactly like my cat Alex! I know how you feel about loving cell phones..what did we do without them? Today is the 30th anniversary of the first cell phone call, made from a street corner in Manhattan!
Very cool about the high school musical. I love those! When I was in high school I was usually in the chorus  we did Brigadoon. It was fun. I love Fiddler on the Roof, along with many others. Enjoy!
Oh, yeah, Heidi is a bad example! Even Joe mentioned this evening that they looked bad when they were bathing. God love him...he said, "I like a woman with a little more meat on her bones" :D

Es,
I can't believe it's been almost a year since the scare with Pete in the hospital! What you said about him was so sweet; he must look great :) When are you gonna share some pics, girl?

Janie,
You'll have a loss soon...don't give up! How did Steve and Ellen enjoy their camping trip? It's been many many years since we've gone camping. We're planning a short trip this summer. Problem is, we tent camp, and haven't unpacked that stuff for 10 years! We used to use a 2 room tent, now it'll be way too large for just the 2 of us. Time to downsize.

Donna,
I know what you mean about hating to clothes shop...I love the look of clothes I see in print, catalags and mags, but hate to go and try on. Talk about depressing.

see you all tomorrow....

Jen, how long have I been promising to let you all see what I look like! I'm such a procrastinator. Just like dieting, I always say this time is it & I wind up blowing it. I'm always asking David. He has to buy a digital camera the old one died on him. As soon as he gets one okay? :) If your cat looks like Sylvester he must be real cute. Alex the cat. Very cute.

Terri, 75 degrees is my kind of weather. When it's that high it's still comfortable. When it reaches 90 & above is when I hate it. Since David was little he had sinus problems. He still suffers from it. I can't tell whether he has a cold or it's sinuses. He says he can tell the difference.

I invited my newphew & his wife for dinner tomorrow. It'sll be his wife Mary, his son Lil Louie, David of course, & my sister's adopted daughter who has been staying with them, Vicky. They are trying to get legal custody. It's probably going to be a long process.

I'm going to be really busy the next 2 days but I'll try & get back here this evening.

Have a great day.

Bruce said the same thing about Heidi and Jenna. Too skinny.
Did you see their faces when Dave picked Deena for the reward? They were like "He didn't pick us? but we are soooooo cute." When jealous Jenna said "He picked that fat pig instead of us Brittany had to hold me back. From who? I don't know.
Alex the cat sounds so cute.

Es,
I am so glad Pete is doing well. I remember how scary that was.
We are having bad sinus problems here now. Brittany can't stop coughing and she is so stuffed up. I have a constant tickle in my throat and it is terrible. I have bought about 4 bottles of cough medicine for all of us in the last week. Bradley is better and Brandon is starting. :dizzy: Hope Dave feels better.

Jen, thanks for noticing my absolute dread of clothes shopping. You know, even when I was thin I didn't like it. :) It is very depressing now.

Es, what kind of scare did you have with your dh? I myself had a horrible scare too almost a year ago May 2nd when Jim had to have his surgery and I almost lost him the very next day. He was in the hospital for 13 days and today you would not even know it unless you were there then to look at him. It's a shame that it takes scares like this to open our eyes to appreciate what God has given us. And about adoption, we adopted our daughter. I may or may not have mentioned this before. Anyway, we had no complications but it did take 20 months before the finalization of the adoption because of just lack of help and some legality from the paternal side of the issue. I wish them the best.

Terri, I absolutely could relate to that cartoon you attached with this mornings post!!! LOL I have been there. Enjoy your shower!

Well, I have a mountain of laundry to do today. We are going to the circus tomorrow afternoon so I won't have Saturday to do that. I'll check in later.

Es,
What are you making for your dinner? I love to entertain...and am always torn between making an old favorite standby or something more elaborate. Will you be making pasteles? (SP?) or rice and beans? mmmmmm....... Have fun!

Terri,
Love that gif!!! I saved it to send to friends. Are the sinus problems due to allergies? In 1996 I developed them, never had a problem till then, which was weird. Now I know that when I get a scratchy throat it's time for Zyrtec.
Don't even get me started on the comment by Jenna :s: I'm thinking perhaps Christy will win, she's coming in under the radar just like Tina did.

Donna,
Joe suffered a heart attack in January of 2001, and had a stent implanted. It totally changed my feeling of security in life, I'm sure you know what I mean. He has always been my strength, my ROCK. He is now in good health, and has nothing to worry about, according to his cardiologist. BUT, there's no way to forget it, nor to stop worrying about him.
Have fun at the circus! :balloons:

Matthew will be spending a long weekend with us :D :D Jessica, Michael and Joey are taking Brandon to Wisconsin Dells to an indoor waterpark resort. She will feel better not having to worry about a 2 year old in that madness, so we get the honors! They'll bring him over tomorrow, we'll have a family dinner, then they'll pick him up on Tuesday. Getting ready to call it a night but I wanted to come in here for a bit.

Jen, I got a free ham from Pathmark so I'm making it with yellow rice & corn, platanos(plantains) & salad. Dessert will be ice cream with fruit cocktail on top. They're coming over around 4:30-5:00. The only problem is Lil Louie loves to bother Susie. I have to constantly tell him to leave her alone. She gets very nervous when he's around.

Donna, Pete got a bad reaction from some medication. He lost 17 lbs. in 1 month. One evening I had to call the ambulance cause he had spasms in both legs & couldn't get up. The following week he could barely walk or talk so I took him to the ER & his sugar was up to 800! They said he could have gone into a coma. He was admitted & it turned out he's a diabetic. He was so sick. It was very scary. I don't know what I would have done if something would have happened to him.

I'm going to bed early cause I'm going to be very busy tomorrow.

Have a goodnight.

Donna,
Enjoy the circus. I miss going to the circus. I am going to have to plan on it. It has been about 5 yrs. since we went.
How scary about your hubbie. In 2000 Bruce broke his leg in 3 places and I was so scared with him going into emergency surgery.

Es,
I am so glad Pete is doing so well.
Your dinner sounds wonderful. A free ham is great. They are so expensive.
Poor little Susie. I always feel that if a child gets bitten after pestering a dog it isn't the dog's fault. Especially if it is not used to children. It is hard when kids are so little though. Bigger kids (old enough to know better) make me mad when they tease a dog.
When Brittany was 7 she leaned down to hug my sister's (no children) sheltie while he was eating and he turned around and bit her on the face. He was startled too. I never blamed the dog. My sister blamed herself for not closing the door while he was eating. I was consoling her. This was at 2:00 A.M. while we were on vacation and the night before Bradley's Baptism and party. We were at 2 ERs until 5:00 A.M. The second ER was so Britts could have her face stitched by a plastic surgeon. Just this year was the first year she was allowed in the same room as Scottie. He is so gentle other than that one time. He was kind of like me when I am eating. DON'T BOTHER ME.

Jen,
I would love if Christy won. Jenna and Heidi have to go.
Have fun with Matthew. One on One time. :cb:

Hello Friends:wave:

Terri, Im surprised Britt gets near any dogs till today. A woman I know went thru a similar situation when she was very young. She's still terrified of dogs. Someone brought their dog into the office & she stopped walking & I saw the fear in her face. Susie is a very lovable dog. She'll just run away from kids that bother her. Now, my cat on the other hand defends herself. They come a little too close & she'll hiss. She's a cranky old lady. Too funny about when you eat you don't want to be bothered.

Girls, I'll be back tomorrow. I'm sure my company will be leaving late. My niece called(adopted) me last night to ask me if she can invite my other niece. I hope that's it. I can't fit too many people in my small apt. They're big rooms but small for a large group.

Have a great Saturday. :)

Hi everyone

This morning Matthew climbed into bed with Joe and I, which is kind of a tradition we started when Brandon was little...we talk, play, etc. Joe tried to get Matt to his side of the bed, but Matt kept saying, "No, I want Gam!" and he scooted over by my side, gave me a big hug and stayed that way. Well, my heart got that warm fuzzy feeling, and just about burst..... until he looked at me and said, "Gam, we eat now?" It was too funny!

Es, how did dinner go? I'll bet you had a good time. Your niece must have been happy she was able to have another there with her. Is it her cousin? Hey, the more the merrier...we have a small house and have filled it many times. No one minds. We really pushed it to its limits when we held Jessica's wedding here and had 130 guests

Terri, that is a horrible story about Britts being bitten, thank God it has a good ending. Of course it would happen the evening before a huge event, like the Baptism.
I'm not really a dog lover, but do like the dogs I know. I'm afraid of large dogs, or German Shephard type ones. My bro and SIL have their "baby" Mabel (great name) who is a black and white mix, nice sized dog. We're "dogsitting" one weekend in May for them. She's about 11, and is a gentle soul, good with kids.

We're being threatened with a huge winter storm for tonight and tomorrow, with up to 6 inches of snow and ice possible. Of course I'll be crazy worrying about the kids driving home from Wisconsin tomorrow evening....the worry never ends  no matter how old they are.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. HI to Dianne, Janie, Ruth, Zoe, Donna! Sandy, are you still with us?

Good morning! I wish I could send this sunshine to you Jen! It's absolutely beautiful here today. A little cooler than it's been but that's ok. At least it isn't snowing like where you are.
I myself have learned about dogs and you don't bother them when they are eating. We have a very good dog but the one time he has growled at my daughter is when she got too close to his food bowl while he was eating. I hate that all that happened with your Brittney, Terri.
Es, how did the dinner go? I bet everyone had a blast. Do you like entertaining? I am glad all went well with your hubby last year. That's really something with that reaction and I know you were so scared. My Jim had to have open heart surgery to have a mitral valve repaired. What normally is a 3 hour surgery turned out to be a 7 and they tried to repair it twice but ended up replacing it with a mechanical valve. That means 3 times he was on the heart lung machine which caused a lot of fluid to be pumped in his body to sustain him during the long surgery. He was in ICU 10 of the thirteen days he was in the hospital. The day after his surgery they had to use the difibulator twice to get his heart going and he had so much fluid in and around his lungs that it was drowning him. Anyway, it will be a year May 2nd and I asked my Jim if he wanted a party for his new valve and he said maybe! LOL
We had a good time at the circus! Elena rode a elephant and was so happy just to be there. She loves animals.
OK you all............. I'm starting over AGAIN!!!!! I can't continue to ignore this and eat like normal. I have noticed that I'm gaining weight again and I have to stop this. So... This morning so far it's a bowl of Special K and skim milk! LOL

WINTER STORM WATCH!!!! I thought Pete was kidding when he told me this morning. Figures when I have to go to work! I'm going to be off next week. I'm not doing anything special, I just need some time off.

The dinner turned out very nice. Lil Louie didn't bother Susie as much as I thought he would. They left aound midnight. I love their company. They make us laugh. My other niece didn't get to come. When Dave was on his way home his car got stuck in the middle of a busy highway. Pete & my nephew rushed out to help him. They had to call a tow truck. Poor David. If it's not one thing it's another.

Donna, it seems we all have had quite a bit of a scare with our hubby's. Glad you had a good time at the circus. When I was small my oldest sister always took me. I cherish those memories. I don't entertain that much. It's too much work. If I had more room I probably would do it more often.

Jen, Matthew sounds so cute. It's such a beautiful day here that it's hard to believe we have a storm coming.

WW went out the window! I don't know how much longer I can do this. I just keep blowing it. My own fault! I'm not trying hard enough. Maybe with the change I'll feel more motivated. I don't know what the heck is wrong with me. Like I always say, thank God I exercise.:strong:

I'll be back later.

Hugs,
Es

Woke up this morning to about 3 inches of snow, it's still coming down..very windy and icey....YUCK!!! We are definitely ready for spring here....anxious to start the garden, and spend some time outdoors. The good side of this is that it won't last too long, will melt quickly.

Donna and Es, I'm in the same boat. Time to refocus and make it a priority again!

Es, if you're getting socked with the storm, be careful! I'm very glad I don't have to go out in it today. Is it next week you're off? Any plans? I used to love taking a week off to do nothing! those can be the best vacations. I was getting 5 weeks vacation at my job, so it was nice to take a week off just about every other month.

later,

Goodmorning,

My vacation starts next week but due to this storm we're supoose to be getting, I stayed home & will make it up next Monday. Better safe than sorry, right?

I had a piece or let me say a chunk of chocolate cake last night. I'm regretting it.:(

Someone told me that the program is going to be changing next month & that everyone is going to love it. There are so many women that I know that are so successful & dedicated to WW. This lady lost 9 lbs. in 2 weeks. WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?

I'm going to do my Firm tape in a little while. That's the only thing that will make me feel better is exercise.

Till later:wave:

Where can we find our motivation, Es?? Jen?? I tell you it's hard this time to find it. I KNOW what I need to do but just getting my act together has been very difficult. In the meantime I am slowly creaping back to where I was in November. It just makes me  because I was so close to my first goal!!!! :censored: Ok.. now believe it or not warmer days are ahead and so are shorter pants and bathing suits. Es, I'm sure looking out your window you find that hard to believe. ... Hey! I just got an idea!!! :chin: It's the weathers fault! ;)
It's better to put the blame on something else than ourselves right??? :chin: Well, it sounded good. I am talking to myself again.
Enjoy your workout, Es. :barbell: :strong: At least there is something that helps, right? Have a great day!
Jen, sorry it's snowing again there as well. We are getting rain here. It's been :rain: since around 4:00 yesterday afternoon after I bragged about it being beautiful! Have a great day!
Terri, Janie, Dianne, Ruth and Zoe have a great day as well!

Good WINTER morning everyone!

OMG - we have a blizzard going on in NY right now - spring, my foot:dizzy:

Well, Es, Donna and Jen, I'm in the same boat you guys are in only mine is sinking fast:p I have absolutely no motivation whatsoever. I thought with spring (supposedly) here, things would get better since summer will be coming fast and I don't want to look like a cow in my bathing suit.
When is this new program coming at ww? It sounds like we'll have less points to use, though, no???

Anyway, just came in for a moment since I haven't been here in a few days and wanted you to know I'm alive and kickin'. I just got told we're closing the university at 2:00 so I've got to get on the phone and inform some other key people. I'll talk to you's later - everyone stay safe and warm.

Hi to Terri, Ruth, Janie, Zoe and Sandy.

Es, Dianne & Donna,
I can understand your loosing your momentum, I am beginning to feel the same way. I have actually been pretty good about staying OP and exercizing since we started the challenge, but I seem to be at a plateau. I feel I should have lost more than 3 lbs in 8 weeks. Oh well it is still better than a gain. I guess it's not so bad that Hawaii was cancelled. I wouldn't want to be in a swimsuit right now anyway.

Jen,
Sounds like you had a great time with Matthew. It is so nice when they climb into bed with you. Ellen still does that some mornings.

Terri,
Sorry to hear about Britt's dog experience. I like dogs but I am really more of a cat person. DOgs are too high maintenance. This works out well because Steve doesn't like dogs at all but he loves cats.

ZOe,
I know you probably told us but I forget....WHen do you move into your new house? WHen you pack are your going to ditch all those clothes that are too big for you now! You have been so successful this past year. You give us all encouragement.

Happy Monday,
JanieD

Es,
She loves dogs. She wasn't that upset by it at all. I was amazed. My sister was more upset than her. vBrittany and I were conforting Sibby more than anyone. She just said "It was my fault". She was hugging Bucky the very next day. She said "I won't put my face close to them anymore especially while they are eating." I knew she would be smart.

Jen,
I am scared of big strays. When I was little every dog in the neighborhood wandered around but not now. I get scared when I see a big one. I taught the kids to never pet a dog unless they were given permission. If they are a stray then there is no one to get permission from. I am glad they are scared of strays.
Matt sounds so adorable. I miss mine being that little. Of course mine get their own breakfasts on weekends. I will be greatful to get my grandchildren's on weekends too. Hopefully it won't be until Britts is married.
Be careful with the snow. Bruce called and they got 4 more inches in Col. This is so weird.

Donna,
Good luck. Great start. Glad you had a good time at the circus.
Hope you got pictures on that elephant.

Es,
I am so glad your dinner went great. Sounds like fun.
Keep exercising. You are so much more healthy because of it.
Love the fighting Platypus.

Dianne,
What Spring? I don't think you guys have had a spring long enough to stay motivated. I think the undependable weather changes can take a toll on anyone's motivation. Hopefully this will be the last snow.
Love the chubby hamster.

Janie,
Yes, better than a gain.
All my kids still come in bed and I love it. I have a minimum time they can in on the weekends though. No earlier than 9. I am glad they can tell time.

Zoe,
How are you doing?

I was having cramp day today. Right in the middle of my TOM I have 1 cramp day (Heavy flow) and I go back to bed after taking the kids to school and I stay for a few hours. I didn't eat until 1:00 today. No breads so far. I will have a lean cuisine tonight so that will give me some bread.
Brandon's sleepover for his birthday is Sat. night. I will have some cake since Sat. is my eat whatever I want day (within reason) . Bruce will come home on the 18th. Can't wait.

Have a great Monday night. I hope this image comes soon for all you snowbounders.

Wow! I am amazed the majority of us are having problems with motivation. What do we need here? How can we motivate each other?? I guess I need to find it within my own self and stop depending on others to do the work for me. I look around my home and see all that I have to do and even in those areas of my life I can't get motivated and I have out of town guests coming in next week.

Terri, I would of loved to have taken pictures but there is one problem.... I still can't find my camera!! :yikes:

It's another cloudy, :rain: rainy day here today. Are you all still in a mountain of snow? I spoke to my sil online last night who lives in NJ and she said they had ice and snow. I thought this was supposed to be Spring! :(

Sorry this is short but if I don't start moving my butt I will never do it!

Hi everyone,

We finally have some sunshine! The temp is only in the 40's, but the snow is beginning to melt and they're predicting almost 70 by Monday :D

Donna,
I've forgotten, do you go to meetings? or online? I know exactly what you mean about the motivation....perhaps the best solution is a bit of both, from within ourselves and from others. Which makes me wonder why I don't find it within myself to get going and stay on track:?:
How long will your out of town guests be staying?

Es,
Hope David's car problems get resolved soon! Such a hassle.

hope everyone is well.

Jen, send that sunshine to me please! :flow2: :flow1: I don't care if it is real hot just want some sun! ;) My guests are to be here Monday evening and stay until Saturday. This is my mother inlaw who lives with my sister inlaw and she has three children. Two which are 6 year old twins, a boy and a girl. The youngest girl is 3. My sil's dh left them before Thanksgiving and it's been a difficult few months for them. He doesn't want a divorce but doesn't want to move back either. It's strange. Anyway, no I do not attend meetings online or locally. I was introduced by a very good friend of mine and she said she would get me started that I could bypass paying for joining. She has been such a big help to me and in the meantime I did get a hold of a food companion. I'm thinking this may be a problem now. I may have to join one or the other to keep me better accountable and maybe do better motivation wise. I still like this better than anything I have tried or seen and do not intend to stop it. I have other friends as well doing WW on another thread and get tips from them as well. BUT (here comes a but) :)just like exercise I may be the type that needs the push of a group doing it along with me. Like I will much likely go to a exercise class than just going to work out because I'm with others in the same boat as I am. However, my problem now is where do I find the funds to do this. It's cheaper I think to go to the meetings locally than to join online. (I think) So.. I guess I've been a free loader too long!
Jen, are you sorry you asked? :dizzy: :smug:

Hi everyone,
Today is Girls Night Out. I think I should not have my WI day after GNO. Tonight we will be going to a favorite English Pub/Cafe. I refer to this place as Dinner, Draft & Darts. I WI this morning and I might just have to use that number instead of what I get tomorrow.

Jen,
THis is an analytical alert:twirly: I have changed my eating patterns in order to reduce the number of points I have been eating. (I had usually been right at the top of my range). My first points of the day were always a glass of nonfat milk before I go to work:moo: and then I would have break
fast around 9:30 at my desk. The past few weeks I have been skipping the glass of milk in order to not use those points. I think I was doing better with those extra milk points. DOes anyone have any suggestions as to why that would be? One thought is that it starts my metabolism earlier or maybe the extra calcium is helping me burn more.

Donna,
I thought you lived in N. Carolina. WHere abouts in SC are you? Sorry that you are having such nasty weather. I think you all are getting the storm that we had last week. We have been having gorgeous weather this week but unfortunately its supposed to end before the weekend. Maybe if it lousy weather Steve and I will actually get our taxes done.:stress:

Es,
I am sorry that Dave has had such problem with his cars. I hope it gets resolved soon. How is his neck doing?

Terri,
How's my favorite maintainer doing these days? How is the no carbs thing working for you?

Dianne,
What are you up to lately? How are things at the Univerisity? How has enrollment been. Steve has complained that enrollment at DVC has gone down. His classes are always full because they are required for anyone taking pre-med. Other classes are not as fortunate.

Ruth, ZOe & Sandy,
WHere are you girlfriends???

Happy Wed,
JAnie

Janie,
I was just reading a Womans World mag. (April 15) an article of how calcium and other active components to dairy works together to flip a switch that tells your body to burn excess fat faster. Milk, cheese and yogurt are the best options.
It is still on sale.
Be back later.

Hi:wave:

Terri, I was watching an informercial on calcium & the dr. said it helps in so many ways. I have a yogurt just about everyday & skim milk. I don't take a supplement cause it makes me constipated.:o

Pete took a day off yesterday to see used cars with David & he co-signed for a Mitsubishi Galant 1999, silver with moon roof & wing in the back. It's so cute & sporty. David is so happy. They still didn't catch the guys that hit him. His neck feels better but his back still hurts. I'm so relieved that he has a car to get around. The other one got messed up from the accident. Our mechanic said it wouldn't pay to fix it. It had an electrical problem & he had no idea where.

So many women at work are losing weight. Different types of diets. You would think that would motivate me.

I haven't been online much. I don't have time to go back & read the posts but I hope you all are doing well.

Love,
Es

Janie,
Hope you had fun on your GNO :) I cracked up when I saw the analytical alert :dizzy: Seeing as how the milk has been jump-starting your morning, I'd continue to use those 2 points in that manner and cut them out somewhere else in your day. Is that possible?

Es,
I love yogurt and have some every day also. Milk used to upset my stomach, but I found that if I drink it daily I have no problems, weird! Taking calcium supplements is not an option for me. Just wish they could make them in a smaller tablet!!!

Speaking of calcium.....Yesterday I participated in a bone density clinical study that is being done by a dr. at my son's work. It simply consisted of having a dexa-scan done, which is a type of x-ray. So simple, only took an hour and we got paid :D
Besides being the radiology manager of 3 clinics, Joey has also taken on a new position 2 days a week, doing dexa-scans.
I was introduced to some of his fellow employees, who had nothing but wonderful things to say about him :D he works with many women, so he's got lots of "moms" there. I think he was a bit nervous about me being there, it was cute.

Joe is having a colonoscopy done tomorrow :( mainly as a preventative "you're in your 50's now" measure. I, of course, will be a nervous wreck till he's back home and it's over with.

Have to call my sister Kathie in Arkansas, today's her birthday :D

Es,
Congrats to Dave. Sounds great. You and Pete are great parents. Just keep at it Es. Motivation will come. Think where you would be if you didn't try. I'd be 300+.

Janie,
Thanks. I am eating carbs just not bread products as much. Instead of a sandwich I will eat the meat. The breads I do eat are in the lean cuisines. I don't eat toast with my eggs. I am not as tired. I still eat sweetsa little. No more lean pockets ans stuff like that. Hope you had a great GNO. I love those with my little girl.

Donna,
Have fun with your guests.
After the initial reg. costs on-line is only like $9 a month. Something like that. I forget the exact amount but it is less than 1 week at WW. My leader wasn't worth $44 a month but now that I wouldn't have to pay I could back but I just don't like her.
I do on-line cause I have 24 support. I finally learned to be my own accountable person. I am harder on myself than the ww weigher. Once I didn't really care what they thought the accountability stopped for me and the meetings weren't worth it.
But that is just me.

I have Brandon's birthday sleepover on Saturday and I have tons to get. I'll talk to you later.

OK... Terri you are saying that online works better for you. :?: Right? I used to be a blonde so excuse me.. Thanks for the advice!

Es, that car sounds like a great choice for David. I am sorry he is still having pain. Did they just end up totaling the other car? I can understand you are very busy with all that mess. Shopping around for another car is a pain to me. I hate it but when it's finally over you can relax!

Janie, so the GNO wore you out! OH MY! What do you do?
I live in the upstate of South Carolina. About 2 hours driving distance from Charlotte, North Carolina. I live in Greenville county so you may or may not have heard of the area. And it is STILL raining!!! :rain: I'm searching for that ark as we speak.

Jen, I hope your sister has a good birthday! Good for you and the bone density test. I should have that done as well but I'm also due for a mamogram also. UGH! OH the joys! :D I read recently about dairy telling your body to burn fat and I have been eating a cup of low fat yogurt for a while. Does that include ice cream though????
:^: Oh and the best to your hubby and his colonoscopy tomorrow. They say the preparation is the worst part. I saw on the today's show one morning as I was on the tread mill of Katie Couric showing how they do those things. It's amazing! I need to get my hubby to go because colon runs big in his family. And yes, he is over 50 now.

Where is Ruth, Zoe, Dianne and Sandy?? I sure miss them! Can you guys believe it's almost time to start another thread?? We may not all be motivated but we are supporting each other aren't we? That's why I'm here. :) :grouphug:

Hello:wave:

Vacation is finally here. I don't have any plans other than Spring cleaning. Fun:rolleyes:

Jen, Happy Birthday to your sis. Dave is going to PT 3 times a week. His back still bothers him but it's getting better. Pete had a colonoscopy last year. He said the worst part was having to drink that stuff. I went with him. Didn't they tell Joe someone would have to drive him home? You did a great job raising Joey. He sounds like a real sweetie.

Donna, shopping for a car is a pain. I'm glad Pete did most of the running around with him. David sent us an email telling us how much he loves & appreciates us. It was the 1st email I opened this morning. What a great way to start the day. Of course my eyes got watery. I think we are very supportive to eachother. I read other threads but we seem to really bond. You all are my buddies;) Is your company coming this weekend?

Janie, don't worry too much about your WI. The main thing is that you had a good time.

Terri, I've tried to cut back on carbs but it's almost like my body craves it. I bet I would go thru withdrawal. If I did cut back a lot I would lose weight. I'm just not ready.:( How's Brittany doing?

Did I tell you I got out of the contest at work? Remember I said everyone had to put in $5 a week & the one who lost the most weight in 1 month gets the money. The Points Lady(111 lbs.) had to get in on it! One lady weighs 195 & gained 1/2 pound & the points police/lady made a big deal about it. The women was so embarrassed she decided not to do it anymore.

I bought chinese food:eek: I bought a small chicken & broccoli & it comes with white rice. It's calling me. :T

Later Buddies,

Donna,
 Yes. I like on-line. It is always there and my leader that I had originally left and this new one is so boring. Not motivational at all.

Es,
Brittany is doing great. She will be 17 on May 5th.
She says hi!!!!!
I say DOWN WITH THE POINTS LADY. Put some soda in her water.
Put candy on her desk. Do something. I'd have to kill her.
Carbs are hard to stop. I didn't stop carbs just bread products. Sat. is my eat anything day. I can do anything during the week as long as I have my Saturday. I ate French fries last Sat. that is what I craved. Speaking of low carbs did you hear about Dr. Atkins? He fell and slipped and is in critical condition.

Jen,
Brandon will be 12. His birthday is actually on the 17th but Bruce is coming in on the 18th so his sleepover will be Saturday.
I want Heidi gone tonight. I can't stand her.

Janie,
Maintaining is good. Could you weigh- the morning of GNO? That way you could have a good time without the stress?
Glad you had a good time.

This is not good, ladies! I pop in quickly to see if there are any new posts, and the next thing I know, I'm writing....

And, yes, I'm going with Joe for his test, cause I have to drive him home. After that I'm going out to rent some movies, as we'll veg at home this weekend. He's not enjoying drinking the stuff tonight!
How sweet of David to email you, not many men can tell their moms how they feel :) you did a good job, Es!!!
You know what? S*rew the points/police lady!! unbelievable! She doesn't want to lose weight, she just wants to humiliate people. Don't fall into that trap.....just ignore her, people like that crave attention. Ignoring her is the best thing you can do, it'll really tick her off.
Enjoy your Chinese :D

Terri,
I can't believe Brittany will be 17! I met Joe when I was 17...and boy, did I think I was grownup! Wow, Brandon will be 12? I was thinking your kids were like 15 and 10....where do those years go?
too bad Heidi didn't go this evening, I had a feeling it'd be Deena..too strong of a woman for them.
Only 8 days till Bruce comes home!

It's a shame about the Atkins dr. having that fall. Remember when the healthy eater got cancer...who was it? ....Euell Gibbons? All we can do is try, right?

Jen, I guess we're addicted to eachother:lol: I do the same thing. I come in to read then I HAVE TO respond. David always shows affection to the both of us. My Borhter & SIL love that about him. I know you so well, I knew you were going to get ticked when I mentioned the PL getting in on the contest.
She does love all the attention. Yesterday she looked a little chubby. :D:s: Pete felt fine after the test. He ate, he asked me to take him to play his lotto. He said it was A PIECE OF CAKE. I wish he wouldn't say that.

Today is going to rain all day. I'll probably relax then do all my running around this weekend.

Have a great day.

Jen,
Good luck to Joe. That drink must be nasty. Poor thing. Relax and enjoy your quiet weekend.
The years do go fast. Too fast. I want my babies here safe always. I am not going to handle empty nest syndrome with grace.
Speaking of Dr. Atkins remember Jim Fixx? He was an advocate for running. He wrote many books on the subject. He had a heart attack while running. Talk about Ironic. Also my mom was watching the Dick Cavett show in the early 70's and there was a guest on there that had written a book about longevity. How to live a long life. Dick Cavett was talking to him (This was a live show) and then the show cut off and he came back on later and explained that the author died while sitting in the chair. Ironic.
When will these SURVIVORS realize that you shouldn't come off to strong. Deena was so sure it was going to be Alex. She should have eaten the grub. I can't stand Rob, Heidi and Jenna getting their way. I wish Christy, Butch and Matthew would get together and get Alex on their side and get rid of the other 3. Did you see Heidi and Jenna hug on the previews? They look like two Praying Mantis or grasshoppers hugging. They are sticks. Unattractive sticks. Jenna's shoulders look terrible even in a shirt.
Yes, 8 days,3 hours and 42 minutes but who's counting?

Es,
Myra is very busy and I think she stopped a lot of her groups.
You are to funny. Piece of cake. Love the smilies after the chubby comment.
David sounds like such a great son and young man. That is my goal. I get compliments all the time from teachers in the car line and in the classes and from waitresses about how polite my boys and Brittany are. It makes you feel so good. I feel I did something right.

Well tomorrow I have to get Brittany into Huntsville to a school I never heard of to take her ACT by 8:00 A.M. Can't they make the tests like at least 9:00? :dizzy: I have to then get Brandon back up on the other side of the county by 9:00 for Band practice. Then home and then reverse pick up. I really miss Bruce at times like this. Then the sleepover tomorrow night. When the last kid leaves Sunday afternoon I am getting down on my knees and thanking God.

At my last visit to the doctor, right after turning 50, she said the same thing - time for a colonscopy and I said sure, no problem, but have I gone yet? No and that was back in December. Let me know how it goes.

Terri - Happy Birthday to Brandon :gift:. Sleepover sounds like fun. I'm getting tired just thinking about it:lol:

Alana's birthday is this Sunday - she turns 20! My baby is no longer a teenager. This will be the first time in 20 years that we won't be with her for her birtday:( Willie has to work this weekend. But she'll be home next Wednesday for Easter break so we'll have the family over on Saturday and have a dinner and cake for her. She's very sentimental and I know it's gonna bother her that we won't be there, but she does have Casey and all her college buddies, so hopefully that will make up for it. I can't help feeling guilty though, isn't that what mom's are for:s:

Es, amiga - Congratulations to David on his new car - I know he must be thrilled to pieces. I wish him much good luck. That was so great of you and Pete to do that for him;) Hope you have a great vacation, even though you'll be doing spring cleaning. Try to take some time out for yourself.
Have you been going to Curves? How is it?

This past Wednesday night was Willie's big musical debut:D It was great. The band members were all dressed in tux(es?) and they looked and sounded fantastic. Willie dedicated a song to me that he used to sing when we first started seeing each other. He announced that we just had our 24th anniversary and he sang "tus ojos verde" (your green eyes). I told him that was so romantic and he said "yeah, but while I was singing to you, you were videotaping, so all I could see of your face was one eye - I told him at least it was the green eye~ We really had a wonderful time and he loves it. Lisa, Michael and the kids were there and his son Darren too - he felt good. We now call him the "star" of the family!

Hey Donna - miss you too, sweetie. How are you? You're right - we may not all be motivated, but we sure do support each other. How's Elena?

Hey ZoeGirl - where you be??? Don't remember if I told you, but that second picture you posted on the new house was fabulous! I bet you can't wait to move in - can we come too??? We'll paint for ya, whatever you need:lol:

Hi Janie - Your GNO is so cool - I still did that with Alana until she left for college - but we still find time to bond~ She's my love~

Hi Ruth - how's the baby doing? How is school?

Hey Sandy - are you still with us? How's your mom doing?

Well, I have now written a screen play - see what happens when you miss a few days here? Holy Moly!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll talk to you's soon.

Great to hear from you Dianne.
That is so cool of Willy. So romantic.
Happy Birthday :hb: to Alana. WOW 20. It is so nice to know our daughters have grown up so great. It is scary considering what we see out there. I have heard so many horror stories.
We are blessed.
Have a great weekend.

We're home, everything went smoothly, and Joe's napping on the couch. Es, Pete is right...it was a piece of cake! Joe said it was no big deal. The dr. said everything appears to be fine :D You should have seen this dr....so young I would have carded him!!!

Dianne,
you have the best sense of humor! I laughed out loud when I read about the eye Willie could see! I'll bet you were thrilled to see him up there.
Happy Birthday to Alana :hb: give her our best.

Es,
I'm that predictable? just don't let the points lady do a number on you! :s:

Terri,
love your countdown...and don't blame you a bit for doing it! Have fun at Brandon's party. Relax! Glad to hear Myra's doing well. I've wondered about her.

It's beautiful and sunny here today, almost 70...but it's weird, cause there are big ridges of snow in the shade. The best of both worlds?

will probably be back later,
~Jen

Jen, I'm happy to hear it went well with Joe. Did you rent any movies? I'm on to the Points Lady, believe me. It's very rainy today. I'm bored. I hate going out in this weather. I'll work out, write out some bills then watch a movie or my soaps. I figured I'll stay home today because I have alot to do this weekend.

Amiga, I can't believe Alana will be 20! I wish her a very Happy Birthday;) :balloons: I'm going to Curves tomorrow & all next week since I'll be off. I like it but I don't know if I can do the same thing for 1 yr. I'm paying month to month. It's $10 more but I'm not sure if I want to sign up for 1 full yr. So cool about Willie. What a guy!(singing to you) Sounds like something out of a love story.

Terri, I hope Brandon has lots of fun on his birthday. :hb: Give my regards to Myra.

Let me go. I'll be back this evening.

Hugs,
Es

Hey girls,

I just wanted to stop by to let you know that I haven't fallin' off the face of the earth. My daughter and her girls are sleeping in my computer room. (use to be her bedroom) Anyway, I haven't been on in the mornings or late in the evenings and so I haven't been posting.

I have a ton of catching up to do on these post and I plan to sit down this afternoon to do so. Last night, my daughter stayed at her "boyfriend's" (they haven't really broken up, just decided not to live together since he is abusive, I doubt that last long) anyway, I couldn't sleep and I was able to get on this morning. Now I'm sleepy, so I think I'll lay back down for a while.

I'll write more later,
Ruth

Glad to hear from you Ruth. Don't forget to get some "ME" time.
Don't let yourself get to stressed. It has to be hard with school and houseguests. Have a great Saturday.

Ruth,
It was good to hear from you :D I imagine it can't be easy to have a houseful and your routine disrupted. Terri's right...scheduled some ME time for yourself!

Terri,
Hope Brandon's party goes well.....have fun! :hb: :hb: to him :D

We're getting out into the yard today to rake/clean out the perennial beds. Each fall we cover them with leaves, cause it gets so cold here overwinter. Plants are just starting to show, they're such beautiful, tender shades of green. Each spring we go overboard with plans and planting; this year Joe bought blueberry and asparagus to plant. I can't stand asparagus, I think he got the blueberry bushes to make me happy!

have a great weekend everyone!

Jen,
Your plants sound lovely. We can't do it this year because of Co. but next yr. I am going to go crazy. The plants and trees are so beautiful right now. I love it.

Have a wonderful Saturday. I can't wait until tomorrow around this time. LOL Britts is taking her ACTs right now. :yikes:
I hope she does well.
