Default Help! Up cardio or start building muscle?

I've lost 35lbs, am now 145lbs at 5'6 1/2 and yet I still look so fat! In clothes, my body is super cute. But in a bikini/naked... it's disgusting! Nowhere near where I want it to be. My friends say I need to slow down on the cardio and up my muscle toning but I cant help but think the opposite! This is pure fat in my eyes and I feel like I need to lose another 20lbs.

What do you guys think?? Help!

LIFT lift lift!!!!!

Your weight may actually stay the same but your body will tighten up and you'll look amazing!

Trust me!! Pick up some weights, girl!

I would say lift! You don't have a whole lot of fat and building some muscle will definitely help your shape. You do not look disgusting by the way. Also, try on a bunch if different styles of bikinis because it make take seeing different ones in to know what flatters you the most.

Bahh really? See when I see that picture all I see is pure fat and my immediate response is "more cardio, lose more weight"

but okay I will definitely try some more of the muscle pump classes at my gym since I'm not really good at using machines and stuff on my own.

When you take afterburn into account, pumping iron actually burns more calories than hours of cardio .

Plus, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body will burn at rest. You'll be able to eat more and maintain with a lean muscular body than you will with a 'skinny' body.

Just do it!

Sweetie. You look smokin! Seriously, you've got a great body. That bikini is unflattering, sure.

I agree with lifting weights. Don't completely lose your cardio. Increased muscle mass will increase the cardio pay off plus you will get a leaner look with lifting.

Yeah this! I think you look great, but that bikini isn't helping you at all! Another style might suit you better

Lift!! It won't fix every problem you see but it will give you the greatest confidence boost ever.

I can never seem to find any nice bottoms! Thats a large and it wasn't even cheap, I can't even PUT ON the ones in generic stores like garage, american eagle, etc.

And i know my bodys alot better than it was 35lbs ago, but its still super unsatisfying to me.. atleast, in a bikini it is.

Here is another photo in fitting underwear/bra...

It looks a little better but I'm just not loving it. I feel super wide, and my thighs just seem 10x than my calves which is weird.

This is why I feel like I need cardio and to drop way more weight...

You look awesome! If you could find the bikini that matches tbose underwear you will have it made. Lifting will give you definition and boost your metabolism.

Sounds like you want us to tell you to do more cardio. You could try that and see if it works. And if it doesn't, you could follow the advice of people who have been where you are and lift.

Good luck!

I guess you're right, you guys do have experience.

I'll try gaining more muscle and obviously doing cardio but just slow down on the major weight loss. I guess I'll take it from there and see how I feel after

Thanks everyone =]

I think you look great!

And hey, you can do both. But I would concentrate more on lifting. I've been doing hard cardio for a year and a half and it's barely made a difference in how my body looks. I feel better and it keeps me centered, but I know it's not going to sculpt me the way lifting does.

Could not agree more!!! Lifting re shapes the body and in a lot of cases looks like you lost MORE weight than u actually have. I try to lift 3times per week the gym I attend has a body to pump class and body sculpting class each 60mins they are great the outcome.........PRICELESS
