As our inspiration, we use the race between the turtle and the hare where the turtle was the victor because he didn't give up. We believe in keepin' on by using the skills and techniques we have learned from experience to keep us on track. We believe in giving each other support. Good luck to us all!

Good morning everyone and happy Saturdy to you all!

I am in the process of getting ready to head to WW W/I and the meeting then off to the grocery store. I am then going to head to a Fiber Festive with some of my knitting pals to look around and then we are going to have lunch out. Both of them are super skinny and they are talking about Pizza for lunch, I will have the salad since I am not a skinny minny!

Well the place that I am currently assigned to has offered me a full time perm job, the offer was good so I have accepted it. It is no perfect but it is a permanent job and at my age I really need to get a retirement plan in place so for now it will work.

Terri: I hear the discouraged part... hang in there and keep your eye on the prize and your goal in front of you!

Bandit: Congrats to you and your TOPS chapter!

Judy: Sounds like you have a good plan in place!

Cherry: Hope they get your health issue figured out.

Life: How are you doing?

Hi Turtles,
Princess, you sound so busy for today! Have a great time with your buddies.
I am happy that you'll have a permanent job. I know you'll figure out a way to make it more ideal than it is at the moment. You rock! :balloons:

To all our buddies, keep on keepin' on. :grouphug: and :goodvibes:

We're having so many maintenance problems around the house. We are lucky enough to have a swimming pool, but so far it's cost us big bucks to get it started and we;re not out in the clear yet. Heater just stopped working after we paid to have it fixed. Ugh. Well, I'm going to go out and clear away some weeds and do the best I can in my little garden. That'll make me feel better. Also our family is coming in for dinner tonight, so I'm happy about that. Food can be a challenge, but I'll make it work.

So happy to have this group. Have a great weekend!!!
Love,

Good Morning everyone! Yesterday was a busy but fun day! I went to W/I and was actually down .4 so was happy about that, still have more to go to get the previous weeks gain off.

Youngest DS and his GF came over for dinner last night and we cooked out, it was a wonderful evening! Oldest DS, DIL and G-Baby are coming over later this afternoon to cook out so while we were not able to be all together at one time I am getting to see everyone this weekend which is wonderful!

Thinking about going to a cycling class this morning and maybe a walk later on today with the dogs, DH has to work a bit today so I may just make it an active day and get some exercise in.

Judy: Im sorry to hear about all the repairs, I know how that is and that is not an easy place to be - best wishes that things calm down a bit for you. In my last house we had a very large in-ground pool and while it was wonderul to have it was a ton of work and expense! Take care of yourself and try not to stress too much.

All: Have a great day!

Hi Turtles,

{Princess, thanks for the uplifting words. Glad you got to see your family this weekend. and congrats on your :goodscale: We're all moving forward and not worrying about the past (although, in spite of myself I'm still working on knocking off the weight I put on the last couple of months. I was sooooooooooooo close to 179 and blew it. I'll get there asap)

Terri, glad you got your Mom moved.

Everyone have a great day!
We've been having lots of rain here----off again, on again.

Wed. I'm having some WW pals over for lunch. It's a potluck and one of the members insists on bringing most of the food. She's a doll and my friend who lost 230#. She's had it off for about 20 years now. Can you imagine?

Hi Turtles,
Okay.......I've got my weight loss plan in effect. When I keep to 1200calories or a smidge less, I take off weight. When I let the calories climb all the way up to 1300 (lol) I stay the same. Although that's not the cheeriest news, it is life and in the past I would have done anything to *know* what worked for me. I also know that walking helps and somehow I've got to convince myself that this is what I *want* to do. Lots of you are :exercise: on a regular basis. Any tips????

Have a great day everybody. Hey Princess and Terri, I'm off to a slow start too. Today I attend my writing group and that should be fun. Tomorrow is the WW luncheon at my place. Guaranteed to be fun!!!

Chat soon.

Good Morning everyone and happy Wednesday!I am working from home today but am running late so this will be quick. The scale is not moving but i have inceased my exercise and am hungry this week so I need to really work on it from all angles I guess.... keep my food in line and keep exercising and hopefully it will all even out.

Judy: you are doing so great and have a plan in place... we can do this and get to where we want to be!

Terri: Sleepy is the thing for me lately too, I have been getting to bed later and later and lack of sleep impacts my weight loss also so I need to work on that!

Bandit: How are you doing? This weather has been crazy good lately!

Life and Cherry - hope you guys are doing well!

Hi Turtles,
Princess, I always find that when I'm hungry, I lose weight that week. I bet you will too. Keep up the good work with :chef: and :exercise: We're doing this!

Cherry and Life and Terri and Bandit and all our buddies......keep up the good work.

My WW lunch is today. It's interesting over the past 12 years (I rejoined in 2000) how many gals have come and gone in WW's. I wish them all the best, but know it's a good place for me to be. I have actually made some friends with the gals there. And this site is so wonderful for me. I think about some of our past buddies here and always wish they'd chime in to let us know how we're doing. And in this present.......we are doing this@!

Have a great day.

Morning turtles

Nice to see everyone posting when they can. Speaking of sleepy - I overslept by an hour this a.m. so was super rush to get out the door.
Thank goodness I had my food prepped last night.
We have had some rain this week, which is OK since I think we were spoiled
last month.
Will be away for 2 nights with my Tops pals so that should be funtime and
looking forward to the motivation & inspiration that we take away from
seeing all the people who have lost sooooooooo much weight & the guest speakers which are awesome. And cheering on our queen.

Food has been not too bad - but did overindulge again last weekend.
And exercise has been the best as well. But I do spend lots of time with yardwork between home & trailer, so that must count for something.

All - good luck this week.

Good Morning Everyone! Thursday is here... yah, love thursdays since it is so very close to Fridays :D

Judy: I sure hope you are right, the scale is not going down at all and as a matter of fact is up again so am not sure what is going on. I have gotten in a bit of expercise this weeks, cycle class on Sunday and walks each night this week. Your friendships that have come out of the WW meetings is just so wonderful!

Bandit: Lots of yard work here too! We are getting ready to stain the deck that we put on last year and also to work the area that used to be the veggie garden, it will now be a patio area that extends off of the deck. Had a couple of estimates to have concrete layed by it is too expensive so we are going to do something else just not sure what yet.

Have a great day all!

Itryharder
06-08-2012, 12:48 PM
Bandit, glad you're getting in your yard work.
Princess, ditto! And glad to hear you are getting your great new deck where you want it to be.
Just came back from weeding about 35 minutes. I figure over the next few days I can weed for about two hours and the worst looking greenery will be taken care of. Dh and I are trying to figure out how to have a pretty backyard with minimum maintenance. I do not, emphasis on the not, want to move into a senior citizens complex/condo. I love my home so I'll have to figure out how to keep it maintained. Right now dh is suffering from allergies and lawnwork is off limits for him. We've got a great guy to mow our lawn and help out and I'd love to do more. Figure that can be my summer exercise. Oh.....and after a couple of not so perfect days I had a really good day yesterday. Looking forward to losing more weight this week.

Good morning eveyrone and happy Sunday!

Went to W/I and meeting yesterday, was down .4 lbs - I will never hit my goal of being at at 180 by the end of September so I need to figure this out really quick! I wanted to be less then 180 by then but right now I am not evern sure I will hit that so I need to get it in gear! So I am going to set some goals for myself below - Join me if you like Turlles!

By September 22nd I want to be at 180 or less so this is what I am going to do to get there and if ANYONE sees where I have missed something or has additional suggestions plesae chime in and let me know, this means a lot to me!

Gym - Three times a week for 1 hour classes - does not matter which class but it will be 3 a week!

Walk for 2 miles - a minimun of 3 x's per week - I will walk the dogs and if it is raining then I will go to the gym or hop on the treadmill

Stay within my points and stop making excuses when I overeat - it is not an option anymore!

Drink my water - this has never been a problem for me but is important!

Sleep - strive to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night - this has been a problem and I need to improve, if I am tried I don't lose!

Eat my weekly extra points but not my exercise points.

Go to W/I an stay for the meetings!

Judy: I am thrilled that your family is helping you with the yard work! It is not a hard task when all chip in!

Take care everyone - I have a ton to do and very little time to get it all done.

Dear Turtles,
Princess, you hit a note with me!!!!! Yes, down .4# is down, but it's not down enough is it? Good for you for getting tough.
My dd has set some tough guidelines for herself, but she wants to lose 2# a week and this is what she does:

food at 1100 daily
:exercise: hard 3X week.
on the other days she makes sure she walks enough to hit 10000 steps. She's at work and walks her work rather than e-mailing it.

Weekends are tough, but she uses extra calories if she has earned the activity points. She also bought the $100 fitbit to give her something "new" to make this more interesting and be a change of pace. It tracks her sleep, her calories, and her exercise.

As far as you, I think I might definitely not use the activity points. Do you lose weight when you use the 49 points plus for the week? If you do, yay!
I might consider cutting those points plus down to 25 for the week and see if that speeds up the weight loss process. Just my ideas. I hear how badly you want to lose weight.

Me too. This week, staying at 1200 calories I have a net loss of 3#. Now my new goal is 2# down this week again and I'll get there. I'll set up a weight tracker for us online here. Do you want to make Saturday the WI day?

Here's my plan:
1. exercise of some type 4Xweekly (when dh is up to it, boardwalk, otherwise :tread: at home or gardening or swimming.....but something)
2. food 1200 calories daily
That's it!!!! That works for me right now. Our WW leader pointed out we have 12 weeks until Labor Day. I'd like to be at 175# by then. I'll need to lose almost 2#/weekly to achieve that, but I know I can do it as long as I don't lose focus. These pre-packaged WW froz. dinners help. With a salad or cooked veggies, they are fine! Good luck to us all.

Love you all. Any other ideas?
Judy

Princess1122
06-10-2012, 12:20 PM
Judy: Your goals sound wonderful and yes Saturday works for me for a W/I day! Thank you for setting that up! I think the 45 weeklys might be too many also but with the increase in exercise I will use them if I need them but will also be increasing my veggies and my protien to help curb that hunger that hits from so much extra excercise - thank you so much for the review and feedback Judy! I really appreciate it!

Hi everyone - back from my convention and it was great. So many inspiring stories to hear and see all that has been accomplished.
And to come back & see a challenge! Awesome idea, ladies and count me in

If I can do that I will be very pleased.

Good Morning Everyone! Yesterday I got to a cycle class, lasted for 60 minutes and rode 16.5 miles - I also grilled up a bunch of Tilapia for dinner last night and then to have for lunch for a day or two have a big bowl of salad in the fridge to go with it.

Bandit: Sounds like you had a great time and super big congrats to your TOPS Chapter! The Challenge will be fun! Have great week!

Judy: Hope you had a great weekend and were able to get to the boardwalk or someplace with your husband for a walk! Glad you are looking forward to the challenge - I think it is just what we all need.

Sorry I have been MIA. My weight is down to 185.6. I went to a gastrointestinal doctor on Friday. He says it sounds like i have Bialary Dyskezia (sp?) That basically means irritated Gallbladder. I had set up appointment for gallbladder removal but now i am not so sure. I have read of people that have had theres removed and now are gaining weight despite everything they do and cant stop. I have come so far and that freaks me out. I think i am going to put of the surgery. I am not sure what else to do. Right now symptoms are there but livable.
Anyway looks like everyone is doing great. I guess I want to be In the 170's by September. So that will be my goal to work towards. Everyone stay cool in this summer heat. We have been working on our little garden and thinking of expanding it next year. We will see. Hello to Judy, Princess, Bandit, lif4evr and all the other ladies i hope are out there lurking.

Hi Turtles,
I am so proud. :bravo: I had a challenging weekend of food, and came out of it down .4# That is huge for me!
I see we are doing this.

Cherry, I'm going to make believe I'm your mother. Get another doctor's opinion! You have worked successfully to lose soooooooooooooooooo much weight through all kinds of odds. You want to do the wise thing, but perhaps another doctor will be willing to work with you and offer another solution.

Princess, holy moly!!!!! when you :exercise:, you :exercise: that is fabulous and having all that fish is definitely the weigh to go!

Bandit, another great :exercise: gal! :bravo: this is great.

I feel we will all do it this time around.

Good Morning everyone and happy Tuesday! I am getting online a bit late this morning, we have an electrician coming today so I am working from home and slept in for an extra hour. I am getting ready to log on to my work computer and get my day started but wanted to pop in here first.

I was not feeling well at all last evening - tummy issues - so I took the night off, made dinner and went to bed early so that was my one night of no exercise and will have to do something each of the other nights but we have sunny clear skies this weeks so it should not be a problem and I have picked the other two classes that I am going to be attending this week at the Gym to make up my 3 x's a week of classes Things are moving foward!

Cherry: I agree with Judy - get a second opinion and even a third if you need it - one other thing (IMHO) stay off the internet sites that tell you all of that stuff and talk to the doctors in person and find out what options are available for someone with your condition. Take care of yourself!

Judy: How are you doing so far this week? .4 is a great start and I am thrilled that you are doing so well. Have you all been having dry weather in your area? We are so dry here and we need the rain but for me right now the dry spell works! My official first day (if all goes well) with my company as a full time employee is Monday the 18th - I have waited a long time to find a perm home for employement so I pray this turns into what I hope it to be.

Bandit: How are you doing? Did you get your 2 miles in at lunch yesterday? So do you work in the city or a smaller area? Do you have nice place to walk while you are there? I am in the city now when I am at work and I see people out walking so will need to get out there and join them at some point and I need to block my calendar as people keep scheduling meetings over my lunch time LOL - we are so busy that it is hard to blame them though.

Terri: how are you doing lately? Any new adventures with your son now that schooll is out for the summer?

Life: you up for our challenge? We sure would love to have you join us!

I need to run but I got a new cookbook at my WW meeting last weekend so I will share a recipe when I hit on a good one!

Hi turtles:

Princess - yes, I got in another 2 miles at lunch and 2 more this a.m.
I work in city and my walk is usually around the block 2 times which takes
40 min so I count it as 2 miles, since that is time it takes at walking centre.
New recipes are always welcome!

Terri/Life - glad to see you guys posting.
How you liking the weather, Terri? Can't believer how hot it has been,
but I like the heat so not complaining.
Trailer all opened up and ready for the season - planning on going up

Good morning all and happy Wednesday! I got to a Zumba Class last night but to be honest is was so crowded and it was so hard to move that I am not certain it even counted... I will need to find a new class to replace that one moving foward since I need to make it all count and as much as I like that teacher the last two times I have been at that class it has been like that so I think I need to move on.

So far so good this week - tonight I will be walking so that will be my exercise for the day.

Bandit: That is great that you have your lunch walk all planned out like that! When I start my job as a perm employee I will be able to use the fitness center and I think that will come in handy for the early morning walking.

Terry: Glad to see you post! Looking forward to seeing what your goals are!

Life: Just pick a goal weight or something that you want to attain by Labor Day and what you plan to do to get to that goal... like walk 3 x's a week or follow an eating plan... basically this is yours to do as you want we are just using the Labor Day holiday as the deadline I guess.

Judy: I keep meaning to ask you about your DH - is he is better from his recent illness?

Cherry: Hope you are doing well!

Make it a great day all!

Hey Gals!

Bandit love the heat but not the humidity! Last eve, this am are perfect weather! Let the sun shine! We went to lake May long weekend, up to inlaws on Lovesick lake last weekend, wont make it back to lake until the July 1 weekend! I feel summer slipping away already!!!

Princess I hate it when classes are too crowded, we have that trouble with aquafit at Y! Walking seems to be the exercise of choice for everyone!

Judy Hope you are well, and things are going great!

Life/Cherry glad you gals are hanging in and keepin at it!!

My labour day goals-
Exercise Y 3 x week
Walk when I can at lunch and evenings with DS
Generally eat less move more!
I obsess over the scale so not going there with a weight goal!!

Have a happy hump day girls!

Hi Turtles,
My dh is almost fully recovered. Thanks for asking. I too am feeling well and am so excited about our goal setting for Labor Day. Sometimes the summer can be tough with unplanned entertainment, but I think over the years I have figured out what to do. Plenty of BBQ meat in the freezer, take up offers from kids to pick up things (like hamburger rolls) if I can't get out to shop in time. Celery, carrots, and hummus seem to be a good treat for all. I also keep 90 calorie tortillas in the freezer which I cut up, spray with Pam and seasonings and toast in the oven for low cal "chips or crackers".
That works. So, I'm getting my mind set on the food, and I want to make sure I don't jjust look at the pool, but that I swim too. My grandson loves to race me in the water and that's so much fun.

Gotta run. I'm reading all your posts and I'm so happy that Princess got us going again! We need that encouragement to reach our goals, short and long term. We are the best. :bravo:
Judy
234.6/189/184 and lower onto 175 by Labor Day. I can do this!!!!!

Judy and Princess- The problem is i have already been to see several doctors and all said it sounded like gallbladder but they couldnt find anything. The main things you can do for it is a bland diet which i cant do much more than I already am and it doesnt really help except to keep the bad attacks away and the other thing to do is remove it because it eventually will get worse. So that is why i am feeling stuck. Princess I agree about reading the internet (and i know better) but i cant seem to help myself.
sounds like everyones summer is going well so far and everyone is keeping busy. I will try to check back in soon.

Good Morning everyone and happy Thursday to you all! I got my walk in last night and food was pretty good, I had my goodbye lunch with the recruiter that brought me in to the outsource company that I work for now but will be leaving as of tomorrow. We have become friends over the years that we have known each other so it was nice to catch up and have a chance to thank her for getting me the chance to work for a company that is hiring me full time.

Cherry: Good luck with what ever you choose! I know sometimes there are hard choices so I hope that things works well for you so that you feel better.

Judy: Sounds like you have a great plan in place! Glad DH is feeling better! Take care of your self too !

Bandit: We have been loving our weather here also, very much like yours, we are very dry now though so could use some rain! What a great way to spend weekends... at the lake! Enjoy! Reading anything good right now?

Terri: Great goals! You sound like you are very busy also! Hope you have time to do something just for you!

Hi Turtles,
Princess, how nice this recruiter and you became friends and her work and yours has resulted in a permanent job for you. Yay and very much good luck when you start work on Monday.

Cherry, oh, okay. I'm sending :goodvibes: to you. This is a tough decision.
but I know you'll do something sensible.

Bandit, you rock with your :tread: and walking. I love that.

Terri, how smart to not set a weight loss goal for the summer. It doesn't make sense to do the same things that haven't worked over and over. What makes complete sense is what you're doing.

Life, good luck with your decisions. You know we're all pulling for you!
By the way, I dropped my facebook account so I only hear from you on 3fatchicks. :chef: and :exercise: We can do this!!!!

Turtles, I have such great news. I dropped two pounds this week and I am so excited. It hasn't been easy and I've been hungry here and there, but this is worth it. My short term goal is to possibly drop a couple more ounces between now and our official WI on Saturday. That would be so wonderful.
My supermarket had a fabulous sale on WW frozen products, so my dh and I stocked up and I find this a good way to diet. Right now I am in diet mode and I'll change to lifestyle mode as I get closer to goal. Diet works for me right now because the other where I was cooking all the time and thinking about food shopping, etc. put too much emphasis on food. So, for now, this works and that's what 's keeping me going.

Good luck to all of us. I smell success in the air!!!! :balloons: :bravo:

Good morning everyone and happy Friday to you all! Lots of stuff to do this weekend with staining the deck and figuring out fathers day! with the deck being worked on we wont be able to cook out, etc so I need to figure something else out - we are doing lunch so it should not be too hard to come up with something.

Got my walk in last night and am going to try and get to a cycle class this evening - I was hungry last night and found myself picking way too much!

Judy: you sound like you have a great plan in place! Great job on the 2 lbs and good luck on the rest by Saturday! I was down at my tops w/i last night but not near as much as I thought I would be so need to work hard today so I see something tomorrow I guess.

Have a to run lots to do!

Congrats to all who lost weight this week - awesome job

I was down abit last night, so my walking helped so we did overindulge
at conference last weekend.
Weather is great & today doing home yardwork, then heading to trailer
to do same. Will get in a walk up there around the lake

Have a great weekend!

glad we're all keeping at it. The most challenging part of losing weight has been the consistency of it all. We are doing this. Feeling hungry usually means a nice weight loss is coming. I have also gathered some foods that I can eat as a snack when I need one. (My husband's cashew nuts that he needs to keep on hand didn't make the list. Lol) I have an 80 cal. yogurt called Fit and light by Dannon that is quite yummy. Fruit, low fat string cheese, and one hundred calorie bags of pretzels. Also hummus (i have to watch that) and carrot and celery sticks help. I am definitely in diet mode and I'm working very hard at this.

I'll worry about unprocessed organic foods once I get to where I want to be. I just don't want to add any more pressure on myself. The funny thing is going to JC was a huge help because on their 1200 calorie diet plan, I did lose weight. Then, duh, I figured out I could do this by myself by using the low cal foods in the freezer case. Each day is a new challenge but I do well with a routine. Father's Day will be tricky, so I have to start planning for it now. I've got delicious ninety-seven percent ff Kosher franks in the freezer.
When I load it up with sauerkraut and relish and mustard it tastes fine. Plus, the gathering of family is most important. Right?

Okay-----let's all have a great day. Thanks for your constant support. :bravo:

Good morning and Happy Father's DAy!

This new challenge is working well for me. Thanks Turtles for providing that extra push that gets me closer to goal. I love that we all can help each other out. It's a good thing.

Today should be fun and I've got my food planned out. I plan on a "sliver" of dessert and I plan on having lots of fun with the kids and grandchild.

The sun is trying to break through, but right now it's overcast. Come on sun!!!

Okay, enough babble. Have a great day. Take care of yourselves and keep on keepin' on. Onward and downward.

Morning all! Weekend was pretty good but I ate too many points yesterday! I did get a cycle class in though so will just make sure that I am journalling and staying on plan to work off what I ate too much of yesterday.

They called for rain yesterday here so we did not stain the deck, got all of the other prep work done - it never did rain! so we will try and do that again next weekend.

Have to run, today I go through orientation to offically start my job.

Judy
Very challenging week coming up
two lunches out, a dinner out, and then my ds and his family for a four day weekend here. I can do this one meal at a time!
Judy again
So glad we've got the weekly WI challenge going. In the past a week like this would look so daunting, I might throw in the towel at least for the week.
This is a great thing.

Morning everyone! I am not sure what I did but the scale is way up again and I am well within point and exercising so I am not sure what happened but will keep at it and keep trying!

It has been a very busy week at work with not a lot of sleep so I am very sleepy today. Good news is that now I can join the fitness center and go there early and get some exercise in during the morning right that at work and that will help!

We are supposed to get some rain today and we need it badly so that should help the yard be a bit less brown!

Great job everyone and have a great day!

Hey All

Todays temperatures will make it an official heat wave here!! Suppose to end over night! It is awful hot!!!! Bandit I know you like the heat but this??? Many thanks for the air con!!!

Bandit is right, lets try to be near perfect during the week and save the extras for the weekend, that sounds like good planning. I always find I can plan better when I am going to work every day more structure!

Hi turtles

Been a good week and get in some walking as well

Terri - Yes, this is hot Yesterday after work I went to my trailer since my
dd was there and we had nice dinner & walked 3 miles & I was very hot after that, but it felt good Didn't stay over since I had dentist & work today, but will be heading to the lake for sure tomorrow once I get my house stuff done.
I am close to the water & get a nice breeze

Judy - glad to see you are back on track

Princess - yes, sometimes the scale show a big jump and for me it usually means I overdid salty food. Lasts for a day, then goes back down
Try & drink some extra water and get some rest.

All - hope you are all doing great!

Gals, we are doing great. Sometimes heat alone will make a scale reading go up. Weird. I think it's because we may retain fluids or swell up in the heat. Possible cause of gain.

Hey!!!!! I'll see you all on #280 Bale of Turtles Aiming High
