Goobers, of COURSE I didn't list my own name. If I was Mia I would not have had to post a poll because I would have already known who Mia was. See?
I posted this poll as a public service and all I get is criticism. I give and give. That's just me...a giver. I did not include Dusty because we all assume she's institutionalized by now. She reads the poem when ever anyone is discharged from the sanitarium.

I feel so angry with George Bush because I don't know who else to feel angry with. How can we have such a well-trained military and let some innocent maintenance guys fall into Iraqi hands? I am mad mad mad.

Kiwonk
03-23-2003, 03:31 PM
All this bravado about how wonderful our military is tends to look like smoke when you see something like that happen. I mean, obviously you wouldn't want the military to be enumerating their weaknesses, but when all we hear is how brilliant and massive they are, I start thinking it sounds an awful lot like the Iraqi rhetoric. I want them to be brilliant and massive, but I want them to be a little humble and learn from their mistakes too.

And this thing about the soldier rolling a grenade into the command tent, that is more horrifying than I can handle. Iraq is going to have a field day with that one.

Mia, I am sure you are a real person -- anyone with such an adorable name as MiaMoo cannot be a figment of someone's imagination.

Now, for the amusement of some old timers, a little contribution from my hard drive (you know how people keep looking at pictures of tragedies? for some reason I can't bring myself to get rid of this) Perhaps someone will recognize her...

Alexa returns to haunt us!

Didn't she eat boneless skinless chicken thighs all the time and live in a room full of boxes?

Did they show the tape of those 3 prisoners of war on US TV? They showed it here and it was horrible. They were shaking with terror. I am very emotional over this whole thing. Both sides are lying. How are we supposed to know what to believe?:( :(

I think MiaMoo is real. She thinks we're funny. Isn't that enough?

Off to bed to toss and turn and think about *stuff*.

Darling_Peaches
03-23-2003, 06:49 PM
No, Sugar, they won't show it in the US. It is so horrible. It seems like all of them are to blame .. I mean the leaders .. not the people who get captured and tortured and killed.

I feel very disgusted with Bush's speech today about how he's rushing over some humanitarian aid ... food and medical supplies for the poor sweet Iraqis. People in his OWN COUNTRY don't have those things and I haven't noticed that he cares. Hypocrite.

Anyone see Parade magazine today? It has a prayer written by a rabbi to rid the world of wars. Maybe we can pray it away.

Speaking of being in a bad mood (oh. no one did yet?) I called this bow store Friday and they said they didn't have what we needed and suggested another store. So I called them. Pensercoler. They man, owner, said yes, he had a catalogue of bows $140-$300 which is cheaper than what I was finding elsewhere. He also had one left-handed bow in the store but it belonged to his son but he could sell it. Didn't think it would be light enough draw weight for ds though.

So we go to Pensercoler. Way far away. In the store is a teenager with his head on the counter and a woman whose physique did not suggest she's into sports of any kind. They were bored and alone and useless. I got SO MAD. I said "recurve bow" and she stared at the hunting bow. I named the catalogue and she said they didnt' have it. She said they couldn't help us at all. I hated her and wanted to call her a big fat b**** but Herbie was there and ds and so I just walked out. I asked the teen and the woman to call the man at home and she acted like I had asked her to show me her tattoos.

She did tell Herbie about another store and we found it there. Isn't that idiotic though .. to pass up a sale like that by saying we can't help instead of pulling out the d*****d catalogue.

All's I remember about Alexa is that she had been ditched by some (other?) guy and was depressed. She acted semi-normal to us but sent that picture to my friend JP and got a bit more suggestive with him over email. She suggested a three-some with Kiwi, as Bagz remembered. JP was frightened of her.

ok, I'm sorry about saying mean things like that about Kiwi. I've just finished reading Frida which is a wonderful book about Frida Kahlo. It portrays her as a bisexual child molester who is brilliant, has one eyebrow and a moustche. I looked for her picture on the net and she was amazingly beautiful in spite of those hairy flaws. she is not to be confused with Kiwi however. Kiwi has two eyebrows and is appropriate with children.

yes, we feel sorry for her don't we.

I was talking to this Canadian woman at pogo.com and we agreed women would do better. I said I'd give big strong men jobs just standing around looking cute instead of fighting but she questioned if they could even do that right. Isn't it weird how the whole world of women sees men the same. I ran into a woman changing her name at social security the other day. She said that women have to change their names and not men because if men had to do it, women would have to go do it for them anyway. It's just odd. All women view men as bossier and dumber.

This is my day so far - The dog pee'd on the new carpet in the family room. I hit my brakes on the way to work and my coffee (with the lid on it, supposedly non-spill cup) spilled all over my car. I knocked over my full cup of coffee on my desk, I thought I'd cleaned it up, but then realized that it was dripping out of my desk drawer, where it had soaked my papers. I think I should go back to bed. I know you don't care about my minor trials and tribulations in the larger scope of world crisis, but you could have just scrolled.

That Alexis, such a natural beauty.

Maybe that woman just was sick of selling bows, Peaches. Some days I just think that if someone else comes in here expecting us to fix some little glass do-hicky I'm gonna scream.

I like Mia Moo. I like her name and she thinks we're funny. That's enough in my book.

1) The woman was not tired of selling bows. She had sold no bows. 2) MiaMoo is a better name than Peaches and I'm mad at Lush for not thinking of it. (or did she?) 3) my puter didn't scroll fast enough and I had to read all about the coffee and the wet paper and the dog in the house while the cat is on the roof. 4) Kiwi is innocent until ... tomorrow or something. Kiwi, can you open a ".raw" file? Not a trick question.

Kiwonk
03-25-2003, 04:02 AM
You're such a hoot, Peaches. I noticed that veiled implication of, um, unveiling... *.raw files seem to be very small graphics files associated with another program. My computer only has a few of them, and I can't open them. PaintShopPro looks like it could open them, but you have to have some knowledge of what program created them. These ones are associated with an mp3 player called eJay mp3. My guess, looking at the file names, is that they are color schemes to go with the graphics that play while a song is playing. How big are the ones you are looking at?

I was so incensed at CNN tonight that I turned off the news and came online. I wrote an angry message to CNN and then I updated my Diaryland journal (http://kiwi-kath.diaryland.com). I can't believe what big :censored: (add your favorite expletives here) *#!*%# they are. Monsters.

I'm really sick about all of this. There are no good guys.
Was the family you saw the one with the father from New Zealand? DH knows them. Can you imagine what these people are going through?
I feel the best source of news is "the Daily Show" the networks are just propaganda machines. Have you watched the BBC news? It is quite different from ours.
I think Sugar is right about the pansies. Maybe it is time to cheer things up around here. Then I will get out my steamer and clean. I would keep you posted on my progress but I sense a mocking tone toward my lists. I'm sure it's all in my imagination.
I don't think MiaMoo is a better name than Peaches. If you want to change your name to Mia Moo, go ahead. Then we'll know.

I don't know which family it was--I didn't wait around to hear them say anything 'cuz it disturbed me so much. I feel so bad for these people--it's a continuous nightmare for them. No way to tell how long it will go on or what might happen to their sons while it's going on.

We can't get BBC news on its own channel; sometimes I see BBC reports on an overnight news broadcast on ABC. Public radio seems to rely on BBC for a lot of their news, I do listen to that a lot. DH says the BBC news website is really good; I haven't gone there yet. I think The Daily Show is a good idea -- a little comic relief is just what I need. That and some pansies in a pot, that sounds wonderful!

Yahoo to Cherry on those pounds!!!! May they be gone forever! :bravo: I am still hoping to make some more progress too, although I have to admit I haven't been trying very hard.

Gotta go send my eBay packages. Sold a dohickey for loose change from my old Explorer and a pair of girl's riding breeches.

DS says 256 x 240 are the dimensions of the file we're sending to you. the file is 122880 bytes because each pixel takes up two bytes and it's supposed to be in 16-bit color mode.

Hopefully, you came here before going to email. Maybe I should tell him to put this info in the email. Anyway, he wants to ask you if you can open it. I am just a slave.

Darling, you remember when I get my septic tank done??? We must get you a life. In fact, we try for once a year. It is a cesspool, things get ugly if it gets too full. It sticks 4 feet out of the ground; it's easy to pump. It is all dressed up with a well facade.
My arm is killing me. I am off the 15 lb thing. I'm doing terribly.
I am so proud of Cherry. I think denial is the first truest sign of a Mia Moo. It probably is Cherry.
Sugar, I hear there is a boycott of American goods in Germany. Is it widespread. It feels so helpless to be here.
Peaches, don't criticize the boy. Of course he wrote a lovely note to go with his file.

I can't seem to open that file even with the parameters, Peaches. My PSP help file says that .raw files are unencoded pixel files or something. And hey, who needs an unencoded pixel anyway??? Sorry about that, DS

Another good thing about selling stuff on eBay: I can use up a lot of those empty boxes I seem to have lying around by packing the items in them. Fun, fun, fun.

Wabby
03-26-2003, 02:12 PM
I didn't realize sophistication had anything to do with malls. I've seen alot of unsophisticated ppl at our local mall. You know it's the mall that Tonya Harding practiced skating at before she whacked Nancy. How's that for sophistication??? The mall management is considering taking the skating rink out because it's a money loser. They're talking about replacing it with a roller rink. Now that's really unsophisticated.

Lush, I keep track of all the minutia of your life. And you're right. I really do have no life of my own. And now I know how often Kiwi has her septic pumped too.

Would everyone please post a whole bunch today? I need company.

03-26-2003, 03:45 PM
Wow, Wabbit has a famous mall!! How could they tear out a landmark like the Tonya Harding Memorial (we wish) Skating Rink Where She Learned to Fight Dirty? All they need to do is put up a statue of a surly girl on skates with a baseball bat, and they'd be rolling in dough! They could sponsor Shin Whacking Nights, complete with plastic bats and shinguards!

Bet that's not the kind of company you were asking for, eh Wabbit?

Can't wait to see "Annie Get Your Gun". Oh, that's right, I can't see it, it's in a foreign country  . We have an exciting weekend ahead of us. On Friday there's a free comedy concert at the high school featuring unknown comics from around the state. Hmm sounds real professional to me. Or, we could go to the local Philharmonic Club's presentation of student talent which did not think to invite my talented daughter to play. Probably because her teacher does not live in this town -- DD refused to take any kind of lessons from her elem. chorus teacher because she couldn't stand her and there weren't any other choices in town. Oh well, their loss. Oh, also we can get free Clam Chowder or Lobster Bisque supper from 4 to 6 PM just for being families of the unemployed (another dubious event). Then on Saturday, there is a "rock concert" I mean a Rock Concert of local and regional talent. Also free, because after all, we are all poor and pitiful as you know. I'll be bringing earplugs and aspirin. Updates as they come in.

I guess I'm not in the 15 pound challenge anymore either, because I've done nothing but eat since we started (or in my case, didn't start). I'm reaaaalllly happy to hear that you're losing, Cherry. Quite well deserved, too.

I've quit listening to the news. Canadian, BBC or otherwise. I just get too depressed, and there's nothing I can do about it. :sorry:

Hello again. I'm watching Jeopardy and putting off my weight-lifting workout. I'm so depressed about this war... and I have to sit there and watch the lousy coverage all day for my job. The American media is doing such a bad job... so busy cheerleading and drooling over their equipment that I don't trust that they're getting all the facts. I just don't know what to believe.

In unimportant personal news, my school is holding an all-years reunion in Vegas in September. Do you think I could lose 35 pounds by then? (Yeah, right, nothing has worked so far.) It would be very depressing to go looking like this.

Ah--high school reunion :fr: -- exactly the same reason I was going to blow the doors off an exercise routine this winter/spring.

Maybe I'll still be able to get back on track if DH gets hired back. His company was finally purchased, well, not exactly finally; there are a few details to be ironed out, but things are starting to look up. At most they will employ less than half of the previous work force, but they are planning to put some money into the mill (building some new equipment), which means DH, as an engineer, may have a chance at least. So I'm crossing my fingers that he'll be back to work within a month or so. I can't believe I've lived through 3 months of this already. I've been trying to encourage him to get out of town for a week or so to have a little fun before he does have to get back to work, but he has feet of clay. He's been invited (continuously) to go visit our sailing friends who are in FL. I just wish he'd go already (not that I'm trying to get rid of him, really I'm not, but he may not get a vacation for a looooooong time once he gets back to work)

I'm tired, too. I don't know what the answer is. Maybe not to get old. I heard that we should be getting 2 hours of sunlight a day and the fact that we don't is why we are so tired all the time. Our internal clocks never know it is daytime.
Sounds like bull to me. Anyway, all I see outside is work. I'm too tired to do all that work.
I have to take people to the dentist. My car must be done...inside and out. Then I have to go get stuff to make a gorgeous backboard for the science fair. These are my only goals for today. I'm too tired to be genuinely productive.

Kiwi, even if you did want to get rid of him for a few days, it would be perfectly acceptable. This has been a long winter for you, girlfriend. In fact I think I'd like to send my DH off for a few days. I miss the good old days when he used to go hunting and I had a week to do whatever I wanted to do. Not that it was anything too exciting, but I didn't cook for the whole week.
