So in reading through the threads it seems a lot of people are having the same frustration I am with fluctuating weights. Hopefully if we all check our weights on a weekly basis we will see some progress. I'll start - Friday's my weigh-in day:

5/6: 139.2
5/11: 138.0
5/18: 137.8

natamars - yes, January was tough to get through, although I have had a similar plateau in April/May for a few weeks at 158/159. It's tough to stay motivated during those times, but I am determined to be stubborn and believe the scale will eventually drop if I stick to my plan. I think that seeing the recordings of my weight proves to me that I will eventually lose if I keep holding on.

Kelly, that's just what I'm planning to do too - weigh in on Sundays. Things are less hectic in the morning etc. I will probably weigh in during the week just to keep an eye on things, but it'll be unofficial...

KelStand - Sounds like a plan to weigh every Sunday! I think I am more sporadic - some weeks I weigh once and other weeks more than once. Some weeks I am not brave enough to weigh in at all! That's why this accountability thread should help me to bite the bullet and keep tabs on my weight.

Gingermint - Thanks! I know what you mean about keeping things official. It's helpful to write weigh-ins down to keep track.

NEMom - Great to see you here! You are doing fine. You'll shed the few extra pounds in no time.

LittleBlueCat - Of course! Most of us have been where you are today, so don't feel intimidated. It's great to have you here!

I'll take the small loss. Very up and down week. Job stuff is crazy. When I have an interview I'm too nervous to eat, and then afterward I'm starving. Have not tracked well the last few days, and not enough exercise this week.

guac, 3 lbs. in 8 days - WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!

I weigh on Fridays. I tend to run and bike and beach on the weekends, and I think by Sunday my muscles are puffy and I'm probably retaining water.

Am I the only one who counts 10ths of a pound? I need to! Sometimes that might be all there is!

Good thing it is only Monday :D We had Mexican for dinner and scale went from 144 to 148.5, yikes. Lots of water weight to pee out before Friday's weigh in. :lol:

Not a good weigh in this moring. Did not think my week/weekend that bad but I guess it was.

5/21 = 161 yikes
5/28 = 158 (mostly water weight, probably 2 lbs at least)
6/4 = 159.6

Ug, I have gained so much from my lowest weight and my clothes are thight. Need to get my rear back in gear.

Was actually up about 2 lbs., but once I cut the carbs they came right off..137 is definitely a set point for me - BLAH!!

NEMom, this part is tough - I think 160 was your old goal, right? Will be hard to get below it, but if you set your mind to it, you can do it.

seagirl, hope you're feeling better. I ABSOLUTELY count partial pounds, as you can see - my scale weighs in .2 increments.

sum, hope your weigh-in goes well - amazing how much water damage one dinner can do, isn't it?

kel, great attitude - hopefully you're headed for a whoosh on Sunday.

cbigsis, yes, family visiting was what threw me off last week..when people visit New York they all want pizza and bagels(and no one had to twist my arm). Hope it goes well for you.

guac, I'm sure that's not real. Hope your weigh-in today goes well!!

I am going to go with yesterday's weigh in because today I didn't weigh due to PMS bloating, plus, my husband and I went out to dinner last night and I ate way too much! I have another big food weekend coming up. I know I should be in control of what I eat, but all of these social obligations are really starting to piss me off! They all revolve around food and really set me back. It's getting to be that I don't enjoy parties and dinners and lunches with friends and family because they ruin all of my hard work during the week. I am going to a friend's house for dinner tonight too! I don't know - I just feel like I can't diet and have a social life at the same time.

I, myself, may not do my weekly weigh in the morning. TOM finally arrived in full force and I am sure I have gained a few pounds with bloating! I feel yucky! I will weigh when that part of this lovely week is over!

I am going to go with this morning's weigh in, even though yesterday's was 151. I ate like a horse at a BBQ tonight and am not anticipating a good number on the scale tomorrow morning. I might not weigh in. I hate it when my self control leaves me. Anyway, I did well overall this week, and I hope to get back on the wagon tomorrow.

Woo-hoo! 1.2 in a week is a whoosh for me! I am hoping I am firmly below my 137 set point, but will have to watch, and continue the no night eating.

guac, you are down 22 lbs. in 6 months. How fantastic is that?? And not hope to get back on the wagon - you WILL get back on! Keep posting!

All of you are doing so well! Good for you!!! :o)

As for me...I am really beginning to wonder if it is possible for me to lose and keep losing! I went ahead and weighed today because I just knew I had lost some b/c my clothes are fitting better and my waist is almost an inch smaller! But....no....I GAINED 2 pounds!!!!
I don't know if it is my thyroid issues and my meds aren't right or what. I am exercising and watching what I eat....
I am just a little discouraged this week. Thanks for the shoulders to cry on.

KelStand - If you kept losing inches and your clothes kept getting looser, would it really matter if the number on the scale stayed exactly the same? Please do not think I am lecturing, I am saying it as much for my benefit as yours.

KelStand - I will say that I have had weeks like yours, where my clothing seemed looser and I felt smaller, but the scale either went up or stayed the same. I think that your body is changing and shrinking, it just sometimes takes awhile for the scale to catch up. I don't have any scientific explanation for this phenomenon, but I think that if we keep eating right and exercising, the scale will eventually show the results.

Seeing my numbers laid all out there in a weekly progress report makes me a little ashamed of myself for being upset when I don't lose in a given week or I gain back 1 lb. In the grand scheme of things when it is written out like this I am doing awesome and I need to keep reminding my self of that.

I was 163 this morning!!! Yeah! The funny thing is I probably fudged on my diet more this week than I have in a while! I also have been slack on keeping track of my calorie intake! Oh well....I am down a couple of pounds from last week so I am happy!

I can not wait till I will be posting numbers in the 150's! I know it is coming!;)

I ate a lot more this week (a lot more off plan foods, which I will have to change next week), but I moved more too. I felt good this week - a bit guilty for the off plan foods, but not guilty for the extra calories. I know the weekend will have off plan foods in it, but next week I will have to keep the higher calories but cut the off plan foods. I gave myself a little break this week and I am ok with it.

I am focusing on exercising and eating on plan. I am being flexible with my calorie range. I probably ate between 1200-1600 on any given day this week. I am just going to put one foot in front of the other and really pay attention to how I feel rather than what the scale shows in terms of how I gauge my progress.

treadmiler - 2 lbs is nothing! You are doing great. Over the long haul, there will be lots of little regains due to holidays, vacations, health issues, hormones, you name it. The key is getting back on the wagon afterwards. You'll be fine!

I knew I was in trouble when the Thursday night dinner turned out to be lasagna and garlic bread! The weekend was totally worth it though.

I spent a whole day in the 220's. At least I know that if I can do it once, I can do it again...

Hello! Today marks my first weigh in. I started the 6 Week Body Makeover one week ago. I did this plan years ago and had great success - did it for longer than 6 weeks and will again! Anyway, first week was awesome!

7/4 - 237 lbs
7/11 - 227 lbs!
I know it's mostly water but it's still motivating. One week down, only 1000 weeks left! Hee!

This is day 9 for me using medifast, but I have been working out for a few weeks now. I think joining this weekly weigh in will help keep me on track

Goals for this week : Drink 100 OZ water each day; swim 30 mins M-F; walk 4 miles on Sat; swim 45 minutes on Sunday.

Going out of town to visit family on Friday so keeping these goals in mind and the fact that I need to check in next week will help me stay accountable.

Not quite as significant as week 1. But.... I only exercised twice AND I wanted to see the effect one off plan meal per week would have. I had tomato and green pepper pizza and red wine for a True Blood date with hubby on Sunday! Guess without significant exercise to offset it, one meal can have a profound effect on loss. At this weight, I should be losing 5 lbs a week in the beginning!

Slow and steady baby!!

Slow and steady screeched to a halt. I've been at 184 ever since. Bounced up a pound for a while, then back to 184. Then up a pound, then back to 184. Going on 40 days now. The Flood with Noah and the Ark ended after 40 days, maybe this stuckage will too!!

Grrr! Wish the darn scale would drop, but that would require me to be diligent about sticking to lower carb/higher protein and no sugary cheats now, wouldn't it? Can't have that! :devil:

On a brighter note, my exercise has been consistent and my clothing feels looser. That's got to count for something!

3boys - I am not sure that 5lb a week is realistic unless their is a lot of water weight involved.

Guac - You are doing great! Your clothes getting loser show that something positive is happening.

Seagirl - the wooosh fairy really owes you a visit. I think what was said on another thread about training causing your stall may be true.

Changing my weigh-in day from Wed. to Sunday morning since I plan to continue my once a week treat of pizza and wine with hubby during True Blood on Sunday night!

This was a much better week, even though it was a short one (only 4 days since last weigh in). Getting on the tread mill 3 of those 4 days was obviously the key!

Not surprised by the weight gain during family reunion week. Not expecting much weight loss until kids are back in school in 2 weeks. It is what it is.

Hormones suck!!! They say I am too young for hot flashes and missing periods but here I am!!! Losing weight and fat has made me have more TOM's in the past 3 months then I have had in 1 year!!!

I am 159.9 on my coaches scale. Her scale is ALWAYS 2 lbs more than mine!!

GGee - Thanks GGee! You are doing great too! I know what you mean about TOM changing - mine comes every 3 weeks now instead of every 4. It is so annoying! It seems I only have 2 states of being these days - PMS or TOM! Getting older is sooo much fun.

sorry u ladies are feeling this hormone crud....i have been going thru it since even before my first child was born...and have been full blown meanny(menopause) since i was 27 after ovary removal...i had hormone therapy for a few years...then decided to go without...did that 4 years and now im back...this time with the pellets implanted....i have been 30 hours without a hot flash...............yay.

More important than the weight loss itself - in the three months since my last dr's appointment (went on Friday), my A1C has dropped from 9.9 to 7.3, and fasting glucose level from 180 to 136.

The see-saw continues... I hope that I can get back on track now that school has started for the kids. I really want to focus a lot more on exercise, and I am hoping that will give me a little wiggle-room with my calories. My problem has been that when I exercise, I am starving afterwards, and tend to go over my calories. I "give myself permission" to eat more because of the exercise - maybe a reward? However, I lose whatever progress I could have made had I stuck to my pre-exercise calories. I think that's why so many people wonder why exercising makes them gain weight. It isn't the exercise, but the extra calories you feel entitled to eat because of it! Arrrggghhh!

ok so... i dont get it! i weighed myself on 3 dif scales tuesday all high tech digitals 2 of which said id lost 2lbs making me 215.4 n of course the scale that counts as my weigh-in says same as last wk 217.0 UGH! i know ive lost cuz i can acually feel it AND my back boobs, side bulges n boob muffin tops have disappeared in the past week! Now my frustrations r starting to kick in!!!!

Not sure if this 40-somethings group is members only, but I didn't know where else to share. Started with a boot camp/nutrition program two weeks ago, and just had my first weigh in. Lost 5 lbs. and my body fat went down 2% and I'm just so excited, I wanted to post it! In the old days, I wouldn't have been so excited about 5 pounds down in 2 weeks. Too slow for me. Now I can see that I'm in it for the long haul, and I'm heading in the right direction. Have a great weekend everyone, and thanks for letting me celebrate out loud!

Dear Body and Metabolisim

Here's the deal. I will exercise 5-6 days a week at least 45 minutes at a time. I will stay on my WW plan and not use ANY of the extra points that I could use if interested. In many cases I will even eat LESS than the daily points I am aloted. I will eat vegetables that I dislike and forego MANY of my favorite foods in order to acheive my goals. By doing all this I have calculated that I will be in a calorie deficit of AT LEAST 10000 per week.

You, in tun, every Friday, will show at LEAST a 2# loss. Sometimes a 3# loss. That's the deal. Don't mess with me again. This bulls*&%t of .4 # loss will not be tolerated again.

I just started at the Metabolic Research Center. My goal is to lose 47 pounds but if I could lose 60- even better. My start weight was 197 and I'm down to 194 today. 3 pounds down in 4 days--not to shabby.

I just started at the Metabolic Research Center. My goal is to lose 47 pounds but if I could lose 60- even better. My start weight was 197 and I'm down to 194 today. 3 pounds down in 4 days--not to shabby.

Welcome aboard and the absolute best of luck!!! I gained weight after my baby too - funny, I actually went up to 194 because I never stopped eating for 2 even after one left the restaurant :o

Down another 2# this week. It is strange, last week I exercised like crazy and only lost .4 whereas this week I didn't do any exercise (only dieted) and lost 2 pounds. Who knows??:shrug:

Next week might be a struggle. I picked up a weeks worth of consulting work so I will be busy working and around many temptations. I guess at some point I need to expose myself to all of the worlds pitfalls. Rather than what I have been doing, hiding in the house.

Anyhoo, I love reading all your posts and am inspired by all your struggles and victories!:carrot::carrot:

Down another 2.6# this week! :carrot:

I was a little surprised because I worked all week and was sitting at a desk rather than up and about like I have been doing. SOOO happy to have kissed the 270's goodbye for good. :dizzy:

This week will have its challenges too. We have houseguests coming for a few days and entertaining them always seems to center around food. But I am responsible for the choices I make and my intention is to stay on plan.

We shall see...

I'm at 165.5 today but I've stopped counting the cals >.<

I think I want to push on through October to the 150s. Doesn't seem like a bad idea with the holidays coming up to take off another 5-6.

Holding steady at 148 .. I'm going to go back on IP in January and try to do the "cellulite" reduction plan. That will probably take me to 140 but I've never really been able to maintain that. We'll see what happens ...

I'm still 136
yesterday, I consumed 3600 calories to pay my stress off.
that pretty much wiped out a few days of savings.

today is another day and feeling pretty good.
walked 9 miles.
ate better food.

Finally had the guts to weight myself in almost 1 month. Truthfully, the damage could have been worse, but I am very disappointed in myself. My goal is to get back on track and back to my ticker weight (which I refuse to change!).

Down another 3.6# this weigh in! :carrot: So I hit my 10% goal which was a great feeling to have behind me.

I have another set of hurdles to overcome this week. I have to accompany my mother-in-law to have some surgery (all other family members are working or to ill to help) out of town this week. I am happy to help her out and all but am concerned about what pitfalls I might be up against. I just need to prepare myself with healthy and low-cal foods and try to stay focused.

I am putting down yesterday's weigh-in number because I was scared to weigh myself today. I was doing well yesterday, but my husband unexpectedly brought some food home last night that was overall healthy (chicken and garlic), but high in sodium and sauteed in more oil than I would use at home. So, I stayed off the scale to avoid any unpleasant surprises from water retention. I'm sure I went over my calories by at least 300. Anyway....trying to stick to my plan overall, but there are always unexpected surprises.

Good evening all!

Down 2 pounds this week! :carrot: Happy about this since we are still undergoing quite a bit of stress in our household due to my MIL's illness and DH business concerns (one is not related to the other) so, much to worry about in our world.

6 months ago I would have turned to King Size Snickers Bars for help and consolation during a time like this but this time I am continuing to focus on my goals and refuse to give in. Besides, I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but overeating or binging on food does not, in fact, solve any problems. :lol:

I tried for MANY years to get it to work but sadly, no. **sigh**

I am proudly wearing my silver and bronze 30+ pounds lost rings and have set a goal of 254 by Thankksgiving and 246 by the end of the year. :yay: This would set me up to go into 2013 with just 100# to loose. Such a long haul...I try to focus on my short term goals, rather than the long road that is ahead. It's just too much to think about...

And so it goes

Hi Ladies

Lost another 2# this week. :carrot:

I am currently at my Mother-in-laws house helping care for her while she heals from surgery that she had late last month and prepares to begin chemo therapy next week. Luckily (if there is such a thing in a situation like this) I am the cook so I have control over what we are eating. Which helps us both as I am trying to lose and she needs to gain a bit before the chemo starts.

I love reading all your posts and wish you all the luck and will power you need heading into the holidays!

Another 2 pounds again this week! Happy about that. :)

Becasue I find it necessary to invent things to worry about I have been feeling aprehension about hitting a plateau soon. Previous wieght loss efforts usually stalled around the 30-35# loss range and I just hit 36 pounds lost.

My plan is to keep up the efforts as I have been and deal with any plateaus when they come. Which I am sure they will. Nervous....:?:

Zumba, I don't know how others do it, I just copy my last post and update it. If you mean like Sum's then I would say you have to go to user cp and update your signature...I just realized you don't have one...there's a post on here about the weight trackers/signature thingy, I'll see if I can find it for you.

I found this in a post by BillBlueEyes...I think it's what you're looking for.

I won't be weighing in this week. I need a new scale. The one I had hasn't been used in so long I think it's broke. It's digital and according to it....I gained 6.5 lbs literally overnight after losing that much over a two week period.

I really don't think that's possible

I'm joining you all. I have slipped off track. Last week I was at 148.2 and I was happy to be out of the 150s. But I started making poor food choices and although I saw my calorie intake increasing +200 here, +500 there, I just couldn't stop from day to day. I need something to keep me accountable.

Hi everyone ... I'm new to being 40 and I'm new here. Hope it's ok to weigh in here.

I've lost a kilo since I started last week - so feeling good.

It's also feels good to get moving in the right direction again.

3rd Jan - 87.5 kg
10th Jan - 86 kg

Stuck at 159.

Friday, craving ice cream and husband only too willing to indulge with me. Saturday, movie popcorn. Sunday,wine and cake with a few good friends. At least I'm not gaining. The weather means I'll be hitting the fitness club machines, bleck!

I started my diet on 1/1 and I told myself I would weigh in two weeks from the start. Well I am petrified! What if I have lost nothing? What if I weigh more? AAGGGGGGH the pressure!
