Hello, I like the idea of the challenge! I am new to this forum. I have read some amazing stories and have been getting tons of usual information by reading this forum. I started IP April 13th and really like it so far. I started at 148 and am now 140. My goal is 120. The only thing is that I find I am really physically tired! I just don't feel as energetic when doing yard work, etc. I don't mind because I will do whatever it takes to reach my goal. Thank you all for all of your great posts. Now......on with the challenge!

Woo! I love that I found this forum and this challenge thread in particular. I'm a diet-newb, but am now on day 5 of IP and really excited about it :] I understand the program's logic and fully onboard. So far so good - I'm trying every product once for now and taking notes on what I like, and *really don't like* lol
This said, I'm having some issues with the daily amount of (olive) oil allotted AND not using cream in my coffee!! Any suggestions would be really appreciated..

Also - just wondering if anyone as noticed that they are sleeping more soundly now that their system isn't over producing insulin? It's a fantastic feeling to wake up refreshed :]

I still sleep so well and I am into it 14 1/2 weeks. I was not a good sleeper before IP and am worried I will go back to not sleeping well when I am off. Sweet creamer coffee was my thing. I didn't have it everyday, but when I had it, I had about 100 - 200 more calories added to it with the 'stuff'. I took about 2 weeks off coffee altogether trying to break myself of it. I heard somewhere that caffeine slows the metabolism. But when I couldn't take it any longer, I ordered the Cappuccino mix. Instead of adding he water I just added brewed coffee. That worked! Now I experiment with the DaVinci Sugar-free syrups. Caramel and hazelnut are my faves. Coach said they were ok too. I still restrict myself to 2 - 6 oz coffees on days I am craving (mostly Monday's and Friday's for some reason).

Good luck on the program and I know you will start noticing many changes your body has when your in the program a little more.

Hello! I am starting tomorrow and i am very excited i found this site. I found a lot of useful information and creative ways to still enjoys food without getting bored. I have a few concerns for the first week. How did you measure 2 cups of veggies? If you go over on the amount of veggies will it effect the diet negatively? Will i not lose as much weight? I heard you need to be very strict with the amounts. I bought a scale to measure it. Also does anyone know if Dandelions are allowed at all throughout the diet? Does anyone have any tips for the first week? I want to make sure I start out on the right track and follow the protocol closely. Thanks! :)

This is going to be a tremendous challenge for me. At the end of May I am flying to Germany for 4 weeks. I haven't been in 5 years and everything revolves around food. I've been researching what alternatives to IP I could find there. I am also taking some packets with me.
I'm wondering if I should phase off and commit again once I get back. Any thoughts?

Excited for the challenge, my first one. Just got a brand new wardrobe for the waist down! There are 4 of us from my school doing IP and one of the others gave me her old fat clothes that are too big. It was awesome, especially because I had just given all my too big clothes to another IPer at school. Here's to new clothes, especially free ones!

Your veggies are measured RAW IF you go over a little I don't think it will have a negative effect on your losses.

I'm so excited.

So, what do you all do to make the challenge time...extra challening? Add in a walk, choose lower carb veggies or packets, or just good ol' stayin' on plan? I admit, somehow I want to hurry things along!

You know, I think I am going to try to go to sleep early every night during the challenge. Hopefully, that will give me an extra boost.

Day 6 is officially over!! I am off to bed soon, and feel great. Those first few days were rough. Foggy, dizzy, irritable, headache!!! I am sleeping now without my ambien and feeling energetic!! I had the dark chocolate pudding for a snack tonigt and it was great!! I added cinnamon, vanilla, and a touch of stevia. Loving that I am finding that some of the foods are appealing to me. But only a few, so anyone know if it matters if I only choose a few to use until I get sick of them?? And anyone know if Annies all natural Sesame Shitake dressing is OK?? It has 1 carb/1 sugar per 2 TBLS and I would have a teaspoon probably. Hope everyone is doing awesome!!

Just had my first WI, and made mention of the quality of my sleep this past week - my coach tells me that it's due to the Calcium-Magnesium. She suggests taking it before bedtime to continue to benefit from this side effect. I found that really interesting!! Here's an article that provides more details:

Well, I just checked it and it looked fine and like it carried thru properly.
Perhaps someone else fixed it.

Are we using the dates as kind of "week ending"?
So May 7 is for all the weigh ins up to May 7?
(So a May 2 weigh in goes in the May 7 column?)
That's what it looks like people are doing. I hate it when I overthink things.

I feel you. I only have 15 more to go and I thought I would be done by end of May... But I joined in order to calm my competition with myself down as I am then only disappointed whenI have 1.4 weeks. Which why is that 1.4 lbs in a week is very good...

I am glad someone is on the last legs with me. Good luck.

I use the skim plus - it looks a little creamier than skim & I sometimes use cinnamon or mix with my choc. drink .
As for sleeping - I think I get LESS sleep now because I am up 2-3x a night to pee!

I was getting up waaayyy too many times to go to the bathroom during the frist week OP, it was normal for me to get up a couple times before starting IP, but 4+ times last week was annoying!! So I started geting about 75% of my water in before about 3 pm and then the rest before 8pm. In the last couple of days I have only gotten up 1X per night!!

I am i n. This a perfect challenge for me. I started the Ideal Protein diet on April 16, 2012. My starting weight was 193lbs with a goal weight of 160lbs by my birthday in June. So far I have lost close to 9lbs in 3 weeks. I am very impressed by the amount of weight lost on this diet plan.

Good Morning Everyone !

Just entered my results for Week 1 of the new challenge. Down 2,5lbs ! Last week I was out of town for work and found staying 100% OP very challenging with all the working suppers... Although I did waiver slightly from the plan, I am back 100% hoping to lose 15 lbs in this next challenge.

Have a great week and good luck on your 2nd week of weigh ins !!!

I was suprised that my coach uses a Weight Watchers digital scale. I saw them last weekend at Costco for $20. They are glass topped. I kinda wish since it is in a doctors office that it would have been a better one. Sometimes I am not sure if I feel like it is the correct weight. I would hate to weigh in at a doctors office on a calibrated scale and be a lot higher.

My coach also uses a digital WW scale. I use a personal one at home (glass top like you mention) simply to monitor my progress throughout the week - so far, albeit on my 16th day of IP, both scales have accounted for the same amount of weight loss. The WW scale does weigh me in at 3lbs+ higher - most likely due to clothes, and the fact that I'm weighed in the evening.

One thing is for sure, when I weigh in at 150lbs (my current goal) with my coach's scale I'll be drinking champagne that day :]

The one my coach uses is the glass top personal one as well. My floors at home must be uneven because I can weigh on mine in five places and get five different weights. I don't even trust it. I also weigh in first thing in the a.m. at the center and I weigh myself at home first and I am close to 5 lbs more at home. I have always had a hard time losing weight so I guess I am kind of in disbelief lol.

I am so glad you are part of this board Joby, its good to have someone like yourself to share their journey. I used to be the heaviest that was on the program with success but now YOU are the "new" success story. Keep up the fantastic job you are doing. I can relate to what you are going through because I have been there. Not that it doesn't take a lot for everyone to lose the weight, just takes longer for us who are bigger and we are doing it! I am not knocking anyone who is on the program because it takes a lot to lose weight. We just have to be on it longer than most.

You got me teary eyed again. Thank you. It's nice to know we share a bond as adoptive parents. A three of my little ones came to us through adoption. Jack was 2 days old, Kylie was 7 months old and Destini was our surprise at 4 years old. Des and Kylie are birth sisters and Des is 2 years older so our middle child came to us last. All three of them are "first born" because of the way it all worked. It can be challenging but is lots of fun too. Mostly fun.

My son & daughter are both bioligical siblings. We were foster parents and my son was my first foster child. They were both removed from their home due to severe abuse to my Alyssa, Tommy came to us when he was 23 months old and Alyssa went to the hospital for 5 months. We picked her up from the hospital at 13 months old. For the next 5 years we had 12 more foster children come and go but these 2 were mine. We adopted them after 3 1/2 years being their foster parents. Looking back it was tough at times having a special needs child and sometimes up to 5 additional kids in the house but I loved it. Then again I was young, patient and energetic. I certainly could not do that now. LOL
Now here they are 20 & 21 years old and all grown up into fine young people. I am very blessed.

I just bought myself a new watch. It should be here in a week or so. I have wanted a new bed for quite a while. Our Queen is at least ten years old and I want a King. Once I hit 100# lost I am going to start shopping for a new King Size Bed.

Each 20lbs I lose I buy a new charm for my Pandora bracelet :)

Well no Pandora here. Michele has one and needs a second her first is full. I figure $10 for each pound will earn me a bed! The watch was on the expensive side. I bought one last August and sold it a few months ago. I miss it so I'm replacing it. I will share a photo when it arrives.

I started IP this Monday. Sadly I am feeling all of the side effects of sugar withdrawal. The headaches, fatigue and lightheadness. I've read that these side effects will pass after a week though. I do have to say reading your posts on here have been encouraging though. :D

You will be so happy once you at through the sugar withdrawal! It took extra long for me to get through it since I practically existed on sugar before IP. I can't believe how many side effects were really bothering me that I was ignoring. I feel so much better now.

Hang in there! You'll do great!

Since you all asked to see my watches, I thought I'd share. Oh yeah no one asked.....:dizzy:

Not the clearest photo but here is a photo of Jack and I Christmas morning. There were matching watches under the tree for us. One I gave him and one from him to me.

http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab160/usmcvet0331/Snapbucket/EE9D2097-orig.jpg

I never would have chose the Seiko Orange Monster but he loved it so I was sold.

http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab160/usmcvet0331/Snapbucket/938B8470-orig.jpg

This is a watch my parents gave me in '90 when I graduated from high school. I wore it in during the Gulf War in '90/'91. I just had it fixed.

http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab160/usmcvet0331/Snapbucket/28A3D0F0-orig.jpg

Jack wore it to school the day I got it back. Here we are out to breakfast before school.

http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab160/usmcvet0331/Snapbucket/04CC6EBE-orig.jpg

Can't really see the watch but I'm wearing it in these photos. Those are size medium pants and shirts! Man I'd like to see a large or XL again some day! I'd also like to be that flexible and have all of that hair, ahh to be 19 again. :D

http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab160/usmcvet0331/glycine.jpg

So the point of the post was to keep this thread active, let you get to know me better and get back to goals and rewards. Here is the Marathon GSAR I sold late last year.

http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab160/usmcvet0331/Snapbucket/4dfaf60e-08b2-489e-bc68-86deaf4500ca.jpg

Here is the watch I ordered as a reward to myself for loosing 75#'s. The company ships on Thursday's so I should be good by tomorrow, it will not arrive until next week. I will not wear it until I hit 75#'s lost. It is the same watch with a Marine Corps Eagle Globe and Anchor and other USMC marking.

Yeah I've bought and sold quite a few over the last few years. The orange watches were bought used for around a hundred bucks each. A very good deal for a Seiko Automatic. And the bond with my son was priceless. He was so surprised when I picked up the box from under the tree and it was addressed to me from him! He did not know anything about it but it was from him because I would not have bought it w/o him.

It really kicked into high gear when I bouth the Tag for myself in 2008 when I became chief. It was a present to myself. That watch had serious issues and was returned to Amazon after 2 years and I had the full purchase price refunded so the hunt for a replacement began. And lots of watches came and went.

These have all been sold too.

And this one was sold, wish I kept that one.

I wore it for weeks during and after some serious flooding here last August but I really only wear 2 or 3 watches, only one at a time, Jack sport 2-3 at a time but a 9 year old looks cute doing that, a 40 year old looks strange.

Watches, guns, stereo equipment, I've gone through different phases, obsessions over the years. I am still interested in all of them just not as much as I once was.:D

Oh I am not discouraged by no means, a pound is a pound and I loss 2 inches so I'll take whatever comes off of this body! I just wanted a youtube video with someone that got a 360 body makeover, I think I am changing my mind and keeping my loose skin. I cried just watching the video, I don't know if I could do it...scary!

WI day today. So all week long I have been somehow thinking I was still 155. SomwhenI hopped on my scale this morning and was down to 151.5 I was ecstatic to see such a decrease...

However, whenI weighed in at clinic I saw I was 153.4 last week... So I am down 1.4 lbs which is fantastic and in no way am I complaining because I know I will never be there again, but what was happening with my brain...?

Good job everyone! I have been doing a lot of reading on different posts today and picked up some things I may change in what I do after hearing what goes on with everyone else. Maybe I will have a 2.5 lb loss next week and get into the 140s.

Thanks to all for the tips.

Well, another week and another 0.8 lbs lost. I'll admit I was pretty bummed about this week's number. I was so good this past week and really expected to get into the 150s so when I saw I was at 160.2 it just...ugh.

I talked to my coach and she mentioned that even though my IP sheet says that all peppers are okay she thinks that I need to stay away from any pepper but the green ones (as I eat a pepper a day at lunch) so I'm giving that a try this week to see if that helps. I've also been a little negligent in getting all my water in (as well as the extra water needed when I drink tea) so I'm going to focus on this as well.

I also am exercising (and drinking an extra protein when I do) and she mentioned that this also may slow the weight loss but I'm not willing to give this up. I used to work out at the gym 5+ days a week and after having my daughter I rarely even walked during the day. I get such an energy boost, even though it's only three days a week that I'm running, that I really feel like it helps me be a better mom. Hopefully my slow weight loss has been because of not following 100% OP on food and not due to running.

I've got one more whine. :D And it's a TMI for the guys. It appears that I started two weeks early and since I just finished my last cycle two weeks ago I'm now concerned that my fertility is being messed with. I know it's a long-shot worry but since I'm doing this diet to get rid of the last bit of baby weight that I gained with my daughter so that I can get pregnant again without added baby weight I am worried that somehow this diet may have a long-lasting affect on getting pregnant. I know I'm being silly and that once I phase off my body should go back to normal, but...I'm a worrier. What can I say?

Thanks for listening! Here's to a 100% OP week!

It kooks painful. Obviously expensive too. Loose skin was one of the excuses I used to delay or put off working on weight loss. It is obviously very much a personal decision I just think, I will want to have it dine. I've had stretch marks since my teens and don't see my skin shrinking much. Which ever way you go will be right for YOU! Certain places have shrunk already. My "pubic fat pad"has shrunk quite a bit with motivating results.:o it has helped my self esteem and is much more comfortable too.

I have a charm bracelet that is full now (a charm for every 5 pounds lost). It's a nice reminder whenever I wear it! When I reached my goal, some friends and I rented a house, at the beach, for a week. I think rewards are "a good thing." LOL

You look amazing!!! Absolutely fabulous!!!

So my plan is to buy a scale when we get to Phase 4. I will continue to weigh myself once a week to keep myself on target...I also think I am going to continue food journaling. It is a pain but I think that is helping keep me on target. So while the food changes so many of the other healthy habits will stay the same. If I notice fluctuations that I don't like on the scale then I have something to go back to and review to make adjustments. Mini goal wise when I finally get to that point. 3 months goal weight maintained...6 months goal weight maintained...9 months goal weight maintained....1 year goal weight maintained. Then in year two...every 6 months. By continuing to follow the program of journaling and weighing...there won't be surprises when it comes to the mini goals and plenty of time to adjust to ensure success. :) Hope that helps!
