from the very beginning of my diet back in December ive gathered what I call my "two week pile". Clothes in smaller sizes that I try on every two weeks. Yes I know they wont fit, but each time you can see the buttons getting closer and closer together. And when they finally button and zip it is amazing!!!

everytime i "run out" of the two week pile, i restock it. it has really kept me motivated.

I do something similar. For the longest time it seemed like things werent fitting much better then all of a sudden they went all the way to being almost too big. I was amazed. I had a good body fat percentage drop recently, maybe that was why. I am definitely heading squarely into a size 10 now. In fact, I have some old 10s on today that. I must have tried on a million times before realizing they actually fit. Some 12s I bought in early March look kind of frumpy now. Soon they will definitely be too big. It's hard to know what to buy and how long to hold off. My center had a clothing swap, which I thought was a great idea.

What a great idea! I have a love/hate relationship with one pair of jeans and they are hanging in the front of my closet, all by themselves. I have tried them on every week or so for months now but I didn't start MRC until about a week ago so I bet I will get into them in a couple weeks now. I think I will reorganize my closet and add some friends to the lonely, wicked jeans!

Love it! I have a wardrobe in every size... right now, I'm working on selling the ones above size 12/14 so I don't have an excuse to get into them again... not having larger clothes would be a good motivator for me to keep my weight loss.

I like the idea of having the smaller clothes to try on as motivation... I just don't have any I could use. When I got bigger, most of my clothes were given away or were too old to use (I haven't been a size 10 since high school)... Congratulations everyone!

8-10 is my goal size. I started at 18/20 and right now im in a 13/14.
I had the same problem at first it didnt seem like the pile was getting any smaller, then all of a sudden the buttons popped in place and I wasnt holding my breath or laying on the bed doing acrobatics to do it either lol.

it simply amazes me to buy something that i assume is going to be too little and when i get home and put it on it looks sloppy because its so loose lol

i do most of my clothes shopping at thrift stores right now. no need in spending a lot of money on new clothes when im going to shrink right out of them ;)

This is a great idea. I've considered going to a thrift store and picking up some smaller sizes for this reason, but I haven't been anywhere near my goal weight in so long, I'm not sure what size I'd be.

I have also been hitting the thrift stores. I have found it is a good idea to look through the clothes the next size smaller and if you find something, go ahead and buy them. I have been shocked at how fast I have changed sizes. Some things I had thought were too small turned out to be too large when I finally tried them on. I have been taking my clothes that are too big to sell at a thrift store, hope the money I make from that will help off set the cost of the new ones.

I do something like this as well. I hit the jackpot at Walmart once and they were selling jeans for 1.00!! Not mom jeans.. nice boot cut jeans (cant remember the brand) so I bought 1 pair from a size 16 down to a 6 ! :) It was fun trying them on every so often.

After I read this post I decided it was time to try on my smaller sized clothes. I think I have been putting it off for fear of them not fitting. To my surpirse I fit into items I have not been able to wear since 2008! A goal of mine was to fit into my Hudson size 31 jeans. They fit and are actually a little big in the waist - I need to wear a belt with them. I think I will now try things on every 2 weeks. Thanks for the suggestion!

What a great idea! I need some motivation to stop my 2 week long cheating spree. I will spend this weekend getting out the old sizes. I am a **shudder*** 14/16 now. I have clothes ranging from size 4 to 14 and I have been too scared to try them. I have been wearing old maternity clothes for a while so I don't have to face that number. Guess its time to get my big girl pants on - or at least try them on - ha ha!

Funny, MrsKatydid! I tried on clothes today, and was able to take another pile out of my closet to get rid of. I am pleased to be wearing size 14's. It has been a long time since I have seen that number -- was wearing 20-22's when I started this journey. I am not totally happy though. My WI on Friday was not good - gained .5 lb. I was way down that morning so I don't know what my problem is!! But, that 60 pound board is being very elusive!!

Just got back from shopping. I bought 3 pairs of jeans in sizes 10, 8, and 6. The 10 fits okay--although it's a little too tight and muffin toppy. The 8 isn't that far from being able to button. And the 6...I look at those jeans and wonder if I'll really ever be that small.

I'm so excited about trying them on every so often and being able to see the difference!

I spent probably three hours or more yesterday going through crates of clothes I haven't been able to wear for two years or more. I now have tons of clothes I can wear for work and play- I couldnt believe it! Some of the pants I could barely get past my knees are now too big! Especially in the thighs I keep grabbing the extra material like wow -- I used to fill these out! My DH was trying to watch tv and I kept parading in front of him like. What do you think? Check this out! Haha. I was totally getting on his nerves ! That's a great idea with the smaller jeans or clothes to motivate you

Great idea, I have a box of clothes ranging from size 6-14, I can't wait to start trying them on as I lose!

It's been almost 2 weeks since I bought new jeans, so I tried them on. The size 10 is still a little tight. The 8 that I couldn't button AT all before...I'm now able to button, although there is some muffin at the top. The size 6...I'm still a long way off from that bad boy.

Very cool, to actually see my progress.

WhooHooo! I have found that I tend to look at my "old" size when shopping. But, I did buy a few things this week-end that are a little tight. I am trying to not buy too much now bc I do not need much during the summer. But, Hubby and I are going to Florida the last of June - so got to get a bathing suit. I priced some and really hate to spend a lot now. I need to go down a couple more sizes to meet my goal.

This is a great idea! I am going to go through my closets and see what goodies I have. A thinspiration pair of pants is also an excellent idea.
I am also trying on old shirts that were too tight in the arms. Hope I can get into those soon also.

Well when I went to those boxes of clothes that I have kept for years, I do mean years, the smallest size I saw yesterday was a 13 pair of LEE jeans, they looked like they must have been someone elses they are mine!
and I will wear them this winter and will pretend I am 23 again!

Thanks!:jig:

Some of my "too small" clothes I bought now fit. So, just a word of advice - don't wait too long to try on smaller clothes. I waited too long for some! But, I have now lost 62.5 pounds, and would really like to lose 15-20 more. I just lose slowly! But, I have averaged about 8 pounds a month, so not too bad.

I think it is time for me to pull out THE BOX of clothes and go through them. I have a dress that I am planning on wearing for my DH and my 15th anniversary in Aug. (really really cute 50's retro style) I keep it hung up on the wall of my closet so I see it everyday to remind myself of the goal I am working for.

I have a pair of Hudson shorts that I'm DYING to fit back into. Size 31 as well! I'll have to take a picture of my booty when I do get back into them, because I remember it lookin' good back in 2008 (when I last wore them) ;)

FASHION TIP OF THE DAY: When you pull up your panties and the leg holes go all the way up to your waist -- buy new panties!! OR if you are walking and feel your undies falling down -- buy new panties!! :) I have been cleaning out my undie drawer today - something I have not done in a very long time.
