I know that a few kinks need to be worked out but I sure did miss this board over the weekend and I have only been with the board for a week. I can imagine how you oldies feel.

I wanted share one thread of joy to the list this morning!!! I lost 6 pounds last week....my first week!!!!

OK, now I have this figgered out......

Well, I have two good things to say about the snow. 1. It is covering up the dirty icy stuff we still have 2 feet of on the ground and 2.This pretty much ensures that when we leave for fla in.....18 days and 4 hours and 37 minutes there will probably stil lbe snow on the ground! Yes!

But here I am at work. DH has already been told he will be working through midnite and then staying in a hotel, so I am left to deal with my driveway alone. Hopefully on eof the lazy teens on the street will se dollar signs and help me out.

I am really sorry about the changes in the board. I do not like change! Deb, like I told you I have printed out Tips and Tools as well as I think the food info board as well as some older recipes, so let me know if you think these can help.

Still OP altho sometimes I feel like I am not being stringent enough and the bubble will burst. Clothes are feeling good and exercise is on track. Oh, I do not like the font of this new board - I have seen boards like this!

I've gotta do a few things for work - willcheck back in a bit.....

Hi everyone...
I too am disappointed about losing so much information. Those boards were like a gold mine!! It's like after a fire...you slowly start to rebuild and replace what you lost.

I noticed there are some new smilies. :s:
Deb..why can't you cut and paste? Just b/c you can't right click and cut and paste doesn't mean you can't do it. Here's what to do...highlight the info and then use the keys "ctrl" and "c". This will copy the message. When you want to paste it use the keys "ctrl" and "v" and it will paste. There..one problem solved!! ;)

I really missed checking the board for posts. What is that little character that is popping up on my screen? A yellow round thing with a green hat. Hmmm.

I see we can get an e-mail whenever anyone posts. Is anyone going to do this? I think I'll save some bandwidth and just check in as I usually do. Oh my! I se you can also attach a file!! I am going to try this right now. I will check back later since I'm going to be snowed in for the day (watching the Sopranos since we taped it last night!!).

First off, OVERCOME-THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, I had no idea I was able to do that to paste things into the board, so this was a great accomplishment!

As you can tell, for those of you who have already visited the board this morning, I changed my original post to put the board back to the way it should of been, and deleted my post. So, here I go again with my post.

As you can see there are a great many changes to not only our board, but all the site. I'm sorry to put a damper on things, but I'm not happy camper.:( We lost all our vital and important boards.:crying: I've contacted Suzanne via e-mail to ask her if we can somehow get these boards back up-I pray she comes through for us. We all worked so hard to get this information on the boards. If I knew this was going to take place I would of at least brought these boards to the top, or copied all the info from them. Just cross your fingers she is able to get these boards back up for us.

Thanks to all of you who have sent me e-mails of reassurance, as well as you all on the board this AM-I know we will rebuild like we did before (this happened back in July when the boards were updated). I know with all your help and support we'll get this board back to it's grand glory it was before. The most important thing for me is just having you all present and accounted for.

On a more personal note, nothing new on my end, nothing much to report. My weight is still up. I'm hoping to see some loss soon, it's getting depressing to of hit 134 and then be back up for such a long time (seems long in my book). Oh well, at least I am still less than 10lbs to goal.

Anyhow, I must run, but you can be well assured I'll be back on many times today checking out all the "newness" of the board.

This is my first post to the board since registering last Friday (before the big collapse). I've been following SB since July 10, 2000 and have lost 40 pounds. I got a little sloppy over the holidays--didn't abandon this WOE altogether, just let some things creep in that are not healthy. In order to get my self back on track, I've made a strict adherance to this WOE my Lenten observance. It's really helping. I feel back in the groove and when I'm tempted to do the easy thing, I remember why I'm doing this and so far so good.

I'm glad I've found this board. I've posted my bio--and enjoyed reading everyone's story!

Good Monday everyone!

FILLISE - WELCOME, there is a really nice group of women on this board. You will enjoy it!! I have only been here myself a week!!

Congrats on the weight lose!!!!

Hmmm. This will take some getting used to... What were the reasons for doing this? Just curious. I will deal.

Good news: I think I am almost all better from the bronchitis... geez I thought it would never end.

Bad news: TOM and up - I am only down one pound from beginning weight now. Not sure of all the culprits, but I am going to blame TOM and sour dough bread. Back to the drawing board!

Gee Didja: Congrats on the 6 pounds! I hope I can get there soon! I have not been near as successful as you have been. But I read the book over and listened to the book on tape, so I am ready to start over!

Overcome: Go Girl - thanks for the computer hints!

Deb: Thanks for all your e-mail while the board was down. It kept me going - I think I would have said the H___ with it this weekend after the scale went up if it weren't for you! As I said above, I read the book again and am ready to start again!

Viv: Just stay inside and make a fire!!!!!! My mom (in PA) is doing that today!! It was great talking to you the other night!

For those of you who don' t know, our little Viv here is quite the Big Wig!!! She keeps these little secrets well!

Glory: Are you ok up there; Haven't seen you on here lately

Barb: Good morning!

Well, off to get some work done. Take care!

Annette2 - I would say the sour dough bread is a HUGE interference (ah, I can smell it now). I have stuck strickly to SB in the past week, except for Ketcup. I am unable to give up my Heinz regular ketcup yet. Oh yeah, and a couple of slim fasts. I am actually surprised how I have no cravings for anything and when craving has hit I automatically picked up the fruit. I feel like someone has taken over my body....me eating fruit....hehehe

Stick with it!! You will see improvement soon!!

viv

Annette, you crack me up. Remember that was then, this is now, and I drive a minivan

I am feeling so slim today.....I hid my scale under the bed so I wouldn't be tempted to weigh every day - those little ups and downs are so annoying....

So they closed school today for nothing it seems - the snow has stopped - I know there's still some on the way but it made life so complicated!!!

I am on a bagel hunt. Everyone, tell me about your bagel experiences. If someplace has a sourdough bagel,, or pumper nickel, or rye, are those automatically legal or do I need to grill them about sugar?

I am so hungry - headed home to feed the kiddies and myself now. I am tellin gyou, if you have not tried the unsweetened carob covered nuts - DO! They are great to munch on, if you keep it under control. I used to hate carob, now I really like it, but not so much that I binge.....

Poor Deb - I think she is going to go into board withdrawal....with these changes. DEB WE'LL DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO GET US BACK 100%%%%!!! Do ya hear me????

later gals - good news is I braved the snow and have two-almost-new clients about to join.....

And I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to our Disney trip that I can taste it....

Hello EVERYONE!!! Gee, I'm away for a week & everything has changed!!! I logged on this am & when I got all those email messages I just knew something was not right with the world. Looks like I missed all the STRESS over the week-end, but that part was ok. LOL I have enough stress going on here as it is..LOL No kicking, glad to see that we are back in business here.

Welcome to all the newbies since I've been away.

Annette, glad to hear you're felling better too.

Debbie, HANG IN THERE!! You have done a really great job & have NOT let any of us down. We will survive this change. Thanks for the email updates while all this was going on, even if I didn't get them till it was all over...LOL
I'm at a stand still with my loosing too, but am hanging in there & definitely NOT giving up.

I have really missed all of you, but am hoping to be back on a regular basis again.

It's good to have posts to read again! Hope everyone had a good weekend:)

Can someone explain these new extra symbols? I noticed there is a key at the bottom for some, but not all. When I hold my cursor over the similey face, it says "angry." :?:

Just got back from errands. I had to stop at K-Mart and HAD to walk down the food aisle with the nuts. Needless to say, I have overdone it on the cashew/macadamia nuts. Otherwise, it's going great!

Debbi - thanks for all the work you have done to keep these boards going. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we didn't lose anything permanently. I also edited my bio and added my e-mail address. No one really said they had noticed any more spam after putting in their bio info. I just hate all the junk I get about debt and credit and mortgages, etc. In fact, I finally started using filters and I have a folder labeled "spam" that gets 4-7 emails a day.

Have to go and get my son at school. I will check in later.

I'll try this again...got kicked off... :(

I was thrown by the changes, but I found you all! Eeek...I thought I was going to have to go into treatment for withdrawal!

ANNETTE - nope, didn't retire, just got burned out & quit private practice. Took a consulting job. Steady paychecks, paid vacations & holidays, no more managed care...in short, bliss!! Now I work mostly with disabled veterans in a Vocational Rehabilitation program run by the Veterans Administration. All the cool stuff of therapy without the emotional intensity or the endless horror stories.

CDM - glad you didn't quit SB! I decided to wed SB with Weight Watchers - many here have done that - and I'm finally losing!! It provided the structure I needed.

Okay, I just have to gloat! :p I'm switching my weigh-in days from Wed to Mon for convenience...so I'll let ya all know....down another 3/4#!! Yippeee!!!

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY
My motivation (hope this works - I'm trying to attach the pic) - remember that Little Black Dress I told you about? Check it out! That's all the motivation I need! :D

MSLIZ - you look GREAT!! Congrats on all the weight lose. That is all the motivation I needed today!!

Now I have a confession. With all the bad weather here, I didn't feel like hunting around for a good place to get something that was almost or all SB legal, so I stopped into a checken place next to school and bought 5 chicken tenders that were dipped in white flour. I think I will live but now I am mad at myself.

WHEW!!!! Suzanne came through for us!!!! Thank goodness, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted! She got ALL our important boards back up for us-she's fabulous!!! I have some updating to do so the links will reflect the new sites-will take me a little time, but should be done by tonight/tomorrow. We didn't get everything archived that we wants to, but hey, we got some!!!!

Through all of this, I have forgotten my MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY thought for you all, so here it is:

PERSEVERE

The greatest accomplishments happen when you get just a little way beyond the point where others would have quit. The difference between someone who enjoys magnificent success, and someone who just managed to get by, is the willingness to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to reach the goal. How far away are you, from reaching your destination? If you quit before you get there you are infinitely far away. Make the commitment to keep going, and suddenly you are almost there.

Go beyond where others are willing to go. Put in the extra effort. The time will pass anyway, whether you use it or now. It just makes sense to make the most out of every moment. Give a little more than others are willing to give, be a little more patient, have a little more curiosity, take a little more responsibility, learn a few more things, and it will make all the difference in the world.

-- Ralph Marston

***************

I'm glad you are all finding us on the new boards. It's going to take some time to get use to, but Suzanne says it will be good in the long run. I'm going to ask her to let me know what all the little icons mean, some have me stumped as well.

Oh yes, VERY IMPORTANT BIT OF NEWS!!!! well, it is for me. I've told you all this before, but newbies are here and there's more to the story. Six years ago when I got to my goal weight, my Aunt bought me a pair of Calvin Klein jeans, size 6. I never wore them, they still have the tags on them. From time-to-time I've tried them on and could barely get them over my calves (I have large calves) much less my thighs. WELL, Friday I decided to give them a try and they pulled up, tightly I may add, but they pulled up!!! Well, I lied on the bed and zipped those suckers up, and they zipped (barely). I had to manuver my rear off the bed to stand up, but I did. Now, there was no way in heck I would try to sit in them, the zipper would bust instantly:(, but THEY ZIPPED!!! I figured by the time I reach goal, or my other goal, I'll fit into them-this time, I'm taking the tags off and gonna wear them-hopefully, this summer!!!!!! Just wanted to share this with you all!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I'm off to do some board fixing. I'll check in later this evening. Forgive me for not responding to those who have posted already. It's been a wild day and I just want to get things back together, so I hope you all understand. I will try to respond to you all sometime tonight!!!!!!!!!!:)

Later!!!

HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!!!

I am so excited to be able to get on the board and read and post. THANKS TO ALL THE BOARD GODS AND GODDESSES who got this puppy up and running.

DEB---Thanks for all you went through for us to keep us in communication without the board and also letting Suzanne know what would be best for our part of the board. It's so great that a lot of the threads are back. Yippee & Yeehaw!!! Hey woman, I an't even imagine getting near a pair of size 6 jeans, let alone get them on ME! Whew!! You must have felt so good (if not a little constricted!) to think that you are not that far away from wearing them for real. Way to go, girl. We're so happy for you.

I'm still at hubby's office waiting to go home. We have a lot to do tonight, because we are driving to brother's house tomorrow right after work and then flying to FL early Wednesday morning. I'll think about you, VIV, as we touch down. Anyways, may not have much time to post later. Last minute things always take longer. So "hey" to all the newbies. Congrats to the losers. I'll try to check in soon.

Hi Again! It is so nice to have this back!

Deb: Thank you soooo much for all your hard work on the board! And THANK YOU SO MUCH for your Motivational Monday inspiration today. I REALLY needed that! I am going to print it and put it on my fridge. I cannot believe the story about the jeans. You are a hoot, and a skinny hoot at that!!! Geez, I don't think I have seen a size 6 since I was about 11! Don't think 6 is possible for me, but happy for you!

viv: Hey once a bigwig, always a bigwig! That is why we still call all the old presidents, President____. Well, Clinton, we sometimes call the old pervert, but you know what I mean... LOL.

Becca: If you are out there, welcome again!

Quilter: Thanks for your help on the board too. All you computer whizes (sp?). I hope you have a great time while you are here!

Didja: Actually Sour Dough is supposed to be legal, but I am not sure the brand I got was the kind they are talking about... trial and error I guess. Thanks for the pep talk! Congrats again on your 6!

Viv: Good idea about the scale. I am going to do that. I get too depressed when it goes up a little. I beat myself up too bad!

Liz: I have other friends who work at the VA and really like it too. I only need about 2 more years to get a state pension too, so I may do that at one point. I could use any extra $ after retirement. I like private practise for now because i can make my own hours, but I have a lot of contracts with DJJ, DCF, and non profits to do some of their therapy so I don't deal much with insurance co. I hear it is a nitemare. Glad youare happy with your job! I sure missed those sick days the last couple weeks.!

Karen: Explain how you did that Spam thing to us! I would love to be able to do that.

Felisse: Welcome. You found a great bunch of losers!!!

Melf: Thanks for your support. It was a long and brutal sickness , but I am on the way back up!

Well, gotta run and make dinner! Talk to you all later or tomorrow!

OK I am getting tired of writing subjects for myu posts.....how about "annoying" or "kvetching"......

First of all I am going to strangle my kids. This is where I get annoyed about my neighborhood - the kids are just not the right ages for my kids in terms of being really good friends - they work ok in a pinch, but for snow days......no best friends on the street. There used to a great family, but they moved.....Older DS likes constant interaction so he is much harder. His busiest project today was baking a banana bread. He really likes to cook, unlike his father.

Anyway looks like the builk of the snow will come overnight and then I will be stuck in the house again tomoro.....hopefully I can get someone to do the driveway. DH is happily holed up in a nice hotel with room service with the 20 year old reporters he gets to hang out with...with names like Shari, melissa - why do those just sound like young gorgeous women? Sigh......

Quilter - Babe! Have the best time in FLA! What a great time to go, while I am suicidal here. Enjoy enjoy and let me know how you do SB-ing on vacation - be my guinea pig!

Deb - awesome on the jeans! Isn't that the greatest feeling? Listen, I highly recommend the Gap's reverse fit jeans. They have a great fit and are a bit more generous than CKs.....go try them on when you are feeling super svelte. I love mine.

Annette - ah, it must be nice to have a real career. It';s nice to see women on the board who are fulfilled at work.

Everyone - just think of me here in Snowbury....they say there are going to be 50mph winds tonite. YUK. Iate ww pasta with a ton of sauteed veggies and fresh parmesan - it at least covered up the taste of the ww pasta - just cannot get used to that!

Ok, enough venting.
Nite.

EVENING EVERYONE :D

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LEFT OUT I'VE FELT TODAY!!
I can't post from work...I can do everything else, but I can't post! Suzanne is looking at it for me, but I think I will have to re-register...It's not picking up the link from any forum to complete what I click out. Oh WELL...at least this one works...SO, until we get this straightened out, I'll just have to keep my mouth shut and read only at work. AND YOU ALL KNOW HOW HARD THAT WILL BE FOR ME ;)

BECCA: I'm glad you found us, I didn't get your message until just a while ago. Hope you stick around, we're a pretty good bunch...And someone will always have an answer for you...Just Ask!

QUILTER: ALMOST....ALMOST....ONE MORE DAY!!!!! It's cold tonight..supposed to get into the 40's, but shouldn't last. My advice would be to still bring a sweatsuit just in case of some cool evenings...

DEB: I'm so glad you've cooled down just a bit. Your panties were quite wadded! Isn't it awful how we all HATE CHANGE????

ANNETTE: Did you all get some rain yesterday? I was jumping for joy..It rained all afternoon here, and my little brown crunchy yard sucked it in as fast as it fell!

DIDJAEVER: I THOUGHT I HEARD SOMEONE HIT THE GROUND AFTER FALLING OFF THE WAGON!! Just put those little fingers on the edge and pull yourself back up. You'll be driving the horses before you know it!

MsLIZ: YOU ARE "LOOKIN" GOOD GIRL!! I don't blame you for showing off the dress. KEEP IT UP!

KAREN: be careful of those nuts...they are VERY HIGH in fat...Try Brazil nuts...eat three, wait five minutes, and your hunger will be gone! MAGIC :D

MELF: WELCOME HOME!! You're typing even looks slimmer...way to go with hiding that scale!

VIV: If you find a sourdough bagel let me know...I LOVE BAGELS

FILLISE: {{{{{{{{{{WELCOME}}}}}}}}}}}

Well, I'm off to lurk...I'm sure there's something I can get into on this board somewhere!

Well, I had to log in, which I haven't had to do in a long time. Not since I first started on the old board. But the printing is bigger on this one, easier to read. I haven't spent time checking out all the icons, so am not sure what they all mean now. But am hoping this will end up on the weekly board.

Had a good week last week, and ate very healthily. (Is that a word!!) Lost a pound. Still need to exercise more. Stay so busy that I don't even have time to watch TV. Even without exercising. Oh, I do lift weights 2X a week. But I'm talking about aerobic.

Gonna make it short tonight. I'm finishing up my dress. Actually, I just have the jacket to finish, and want to get it done tonight.

Take care, and God bless.

Good evening everyone :)

So glad to see the board up and running again. Also Deb it's great to see we have the Informational Boards back again. I guess everyone was in board withdrawal on the weekend.

I didn't have a chance to post earlier as I don't like to post when I am at work but I have been lurking all day.

I've just been trying out the search feature. I'm not too happy with it so far, it seems to bring up more than you ask for. I tried it with a few recipes and it gives you the date when the recipe appeared on the board. So this feature may be helpful if you can get the ADVANCED QUERY to work properly. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. Also I see that if you click on search when you are in a post you get a list of all that person's posts. I guess we'll just have to practice.

Deb, what a way to go with those size 6 pants. It must have felt good to get into them even if you couldn't sit down. That day will come!

Didjaever, what a great start to SB. That's a good incentive to keep on.

Fillise, welcome to the board.

Annette, glad to hear you are feeling better.

Big Orange, thanks for the tip about the Brazil nuts. I'll be adding them to my shopping list. I like to eat cashew nuts but find it very hard to eat them in moderation. Once I start on them I want the whole bag.

GatorGal, hope you get the jacket finished tonite.

All for now.

Marie. :)

Morning All!:D I want to apologize for not getting my intended post on last night. Actually, I did a nice long post, responded to you all and my flippin computer froze!! I just about died! I lost the whole thing, and I was quite pist and upset:( It was late, and I was tired, so I didn't begin again. I am getting ready to go outside and walk this morning and will try to work on a post when I return.

It's TUESDAY TIPS and here's my contribution:

Strategies for Eating Out Healthfully

Develop a can-do attitude. Too many of us think in negative equations: Eating out equals pigging out; a restaurant meal must be a special occasion; eating out means blowing your diet. These attitudes defeat your efforts to eat healthfully. It’s time to develop a can-do attitude about restaurant meals. Build confidence that you can enjoy a healthy meal when you eat out. Slowly begin to change how you order and the types of restaurants you choose.

Decide when to eat out — or not. Take a look at how often you eat out. If the count verges on the excessive, then ask yourself why you eat out so frequently and how you can reduce your restaurant meals. If you eat out more frequently, then you need to keep splurges to a minimum. If you eat out only once a month, you might take a few liberties — perhaps with an alcoholic drink or a dessert.

Zero in on the site. Seek out restaurants that offer at least a smattering of healthier options. Remember, there’s an advantage to eating in chain restaurants. You can master the menu and plan ahead, no matter which one of the chain’s locations you pop into.

Set your game plan. On your way to the restaurant—whether it’s a quick fast-food lunch or a leisurely weekend dinner — envision a healthy and enjoyable outcome. Plan your order, or at least what you might have if you aren’t familiar with the restaurant, before you cross the threshold. Don’t become a victim of hasty choices.

Become a fat detective. Learn to focus on fats. Fat is very high in calories, and is often lost in the sauce, so to speak — or on the salad, on the bread, or in the chips. Watch out for high-fat ingredients — butter, cream, sour cream. Be alert for high-fat foods — cheese, avocado, and sausage. Steer clear of high-fat preparation methods — frying of any kind. Look out for high-fat dishes — Mexican chimichangas, broccoli with cheese sauce, or stuffed potato skins, for starters.

Let your food plan be your guide. Keep a miniaturized version of your food plan with you. Choose foods with your meal plan in mind. Try to include all items in your meal plan by selecting appropriate menu items or substituting foods. For instance, replace a serving of milk or a fruit serving, which are often hard to get in restaurants, with another starch serving so that you will keep the amount of carbohydrates you eat consistent — an important goal.

Practice portion control from the get go. The best way not to eat too much is to order less. Order with your stomach in mind, not your eyes. You need to outsmart the menu to get the right amount of food for you.

Be creative with the menu. You outsmart the menu by being creative. Remember, no sign at the entrance says, "All who enter must order an entree." You have options: take advantage of appetizers, soups, and salads; split menu items, including the entree, with your dining partner; order one or two fewer dishes than the number of people at the table and eat family style;
mix and match two entrees to achieve nutritional balance. For example, in a steak house, one person orders the steak, baked potato, and salad bar and the other orders just the potato and salad bar, then they split the steak. In an Italian restaurant, one person orders pasta with a tomato-based sauce and the other orders a chicken or veal dish with a vegetable.

Like I said, I'll check in later, not sure what my day holds for me, but it surely has to be less stressful than yesterday!!!!!!!!!:D

Have a wonderful day!!

Good Morning from Snow-Bound Cleveland!

It took me a LONG time to get to work this morning - 6" of new snow & terrible drifts, but quite beautiful!

DEBELLI - {{{super-hugs}}} for the board work! You're quite awesome! And the jeans thing...well, wht can I say except WHOOPEEE!!!! :spinning:

DIDJA - hey, gal, relax! Don't fret about the occasional lapse - SB takes while to adjust to. You have the rest of your life - don't let Colonel Sanders give you a hard time!

VIV - okay, I've re-read everything and I still can't figure out this secret celeb life everybody keeps referring to. I'm dense - gimme a hint!

Or ANNETTE - if VIV won't give up the info, spill the beans! About work - I'm not a government employee - yet, anyway - we're private contractors to the VA. My boss is completely, overwhelmingly awesome. I'd like the government benefits, but I don't "do politics" well. I'd probably be fired within the week if I took a fed job!

BABE - are you behind a firewall at work? I couldn't post, either, much longer than was necessary. I finally discovered that I had to go to the 3FC home page and click the link to the SB board, then reset all my bookmarks.

KAREN - I'm not on AOL either. But I do use Yahoo and ICQ. If you install either one of those, we can yak all day long! Nobody is ever in 3FC chat...I'm often there checking to see who's around. Lonely place so far.

TUESDAY TIP:
Write down your days' planned meals ahead of time, then check things off as you eat. Planning ahead is hard to do, but when I take the time to do this, I almost always stay OP. It's harder to cheat "ahead of time."

Happy Tuesday!

Hi, ladies...hope you all don't mind me jumping onto your board!

I tried doing SB several months ago, but fell off the wagon and have been struggling to find the right diet, or healthy eating plan, for me. Now that I've tried basically everything around, I've come to the realization that SB really is a great plan, and is something that can be easily incorporated into my life!! I have been lurking around reading some of your posts, and I must say, you all are a great inspiration to me!!! I have about 35+ pounds to lose, and I'm ready to start NOW!!

So, now that I've interrupted you all...I have a big question, one I'm hoping you all could help me with. I'm making our first SB-legal dinner tonight, and was wondering about my chili recipe. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to list the ingredients here, and anyone who could give me advice/feedback regarding it, I'd be REALLY appreciative!!

2 tsp. oil
2 onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 green pepper, chopped
2 lbs. ground chuck (or turkey)
1 tsp. celery seed
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. leaf basil
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
3 tbsp. chili powder
2 cans (1 lb. each) tomatoes
1 cup water
1/4 cup red wine (I checked my cooking wine...the ingredients are: burgundy wine, salt, & sulfur dioxide. Label states it has 3 g. carbs, and <1 g. sugar)
2 cans (1 lb. each) kidney beans

So, what do you think? Is it "legal"?? I'd love any info you could give me, as I'm basically new to all of this SB stuff!!

Anyway, hope you all don't mind me jumping into your world --

Have a wonderful day!!

Debbie

Good Morning Again!

Well, I must admit, as gorgeous of a day as it is today here in Miami, I couldn't get my body and brain in sync to go out and walk. My brain said yes and my body said "nay nay". The body won. I don't know why I'm tired today, after falling asleep early last night and sleeping pretty well, it doesn't make much sense. Oh well.

There are lots of new features on the new board. PLEASE check out the SMILIES, they have changed. We don't have some of the cute ones anymore, like EEK! or SPINNING:( It's interesting to see how many HITS the boards get, we must have a lot of "lurkers" around-wish you'd all join us!!!!!!!!!

My weight has been up. I don't know if it is my metabolism or something I've been eating, or not eating enough. I haven't been journaling lately and I think this contributing, maybe I'm not eating enough. ANNETTE thinks maybe it could be the sourdough, possibly. Even if it's SB legal, maybe MY body can't handle it. I know it's not FAT that I've gained-I'm sure you all know that you need to decrease caloric intake by 3500 to lose a pound of fat, right? Well, the same holds true to gain a pound of fat-you have to eat 3500 calories in EXCESS of what you'd normally take in to gain, and I know I haven't done that.

Thanks for reading my jeans story.:) Though, I don't think I'll be slipping those babies on again any time soon-being up on the scale kills the desire.

DIDJA, CONGRATS on 6lbs in your first week, that's awesome. You should be very proud of yourself!!!

VIV, thinking about you, esp. this morning when I heard on the radio about all that's going on in CT with the weather and the driving conditions-please be careful out there!! I am a lot like you, I don't do well with changes at all, I get comfortable and like things to stay the same way. As for bagels, if your not up to making your own, then yes, you need to ask what's in them. Most are going to have some trace of sweetener in them. Just make the best choice you can if you want to eat them.

OVERCOME, again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was really bummed yesterday on not being able to paste the info on the board!!! Whatever was wrong seems to be fixed now, thank goodness! You are truly an angel!!!!! Also, thanks for pointing out the new smilies, I was posting the old ones and they no longer work:(

VR, glad to see you posted-hope you get back on the board regularly, missed hearing from you!

FILLISE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Glad you've decided to join us. I am sure I can speak for all the gals on the board in saying we are here to help in any way. You've done very well on SB it seems. What a great time to get back into the groove of it all, during Lent. Thanks for posting your bio, it's nice to learn more about you. Again, WELCOME!!!

ANNETTE, I guess the reason for doing this was to bring the boards more up to date. Suzanne said the new server will be more efficient, and they won't have to do this again for a very long time. I guess we'll get use to it in time. I guess we'll both give up the sd bread to see if that's the culprit, but I really don't know if it is, it just could be hormonal. I lost all my weight on Richard Simmons 6 years ago and ate all white things, so it's not like I can only lose eating whole grains. Anyhow, I've run out of sourdough and will have to do without it for a day or so-but I really don't think it is the culprit, but who knows? My body has done this a couple times in the past.:( And, with the jeans-ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!! I'm proof!!

MELF, yes, you were lucky not knowing the goings on on the board this weekend! Now we can all experience the newness of the boards!

KAREN, hmmm, I'm not sure what you mean about holding the cursor over the smiley face and getting the "angry". I think getting use to all these new things may take a little time, I'm still exploring! I'll add your e-mail address to my mailing list. I don't have any trouble with SPAM from having my address listed-it's available to anyone on this entire board, being that I'm the moderator, and really, I don't remember ever having trouble. As for AOL, just sign up for the AOL INSTANT MESSENGER, lots of the gals have it, and it's free!

MSLIZ, I think a lot of us were going through withdrawls-like losing your best friend. I feel lucky that I have everyone's e-mail address and was able to keep everyone informed. Can you imagine the other thousands of people from other boards that didn't know what was really going on!!! Great pic-when was it taken????

QUILTER, don't know if you will see this message before you go, but I can't believe we'll finally get to meet in a few days!!!!! I hope you have a wonderful flight down here, and feel free to call if you want before Saturday, otherwise, Narda and I will see you then!!! As for those constricting pants, maybe I should of described them as being like wearing an angry boa constrictor!!!!!!!!

BIGO, glad to see you are able to get on at home, guess you'll just have to do some REAL work from 9-5! LOL!!! Any idea what the weather is suppose to be like on the West coast for Saturday??

GATOR, congrats on another pound, that's wonderful! Are you going to take a picture of you in the dress you made?? You need to post it on the board!!

ROSALIE, I have to agree with you, I'm not crazy about the search function either. Maybe there are a few bugs that Suzanne needs to iron out in time. I tried the SPELL CHECK, it wouldn't work for me.

DEBSTAHL, WELCOME. I do remember you from long ago. Glad to have you on the board. Your realization of SB is right on the money. As for your CHILI recipe, it looks delicious and totally SB legal. The only thing I would tell you is to make sure that when using canned kidney beans, make sure there is no sugar in them. I recently returned 2 cans to the store because they contained sugar, but I did find some without any added sugar, and bought those instead. Would love for you to share your recipe with us on the MARCH RECIPE BOARD! I love chili!!!! Again, welcome, we are all happy to help you reach your goal!!

NARDA (BIGORANGE) just e-mailed me and asked me to let you all know that when you buy Brazil nuts BE SURE to get the BRAZIL NUTS
at a health food store...not the grocery...that way they aren't salted.

And on that note, I am going to say adios for the day. I have the entire day to myself and nothing to do! Going to window shop until Sharon gets back from an interview up in Broward. Maybe go to a movie later, who knows.

QUICK QUESTION BIGO thinks I should be known as SUPER CHICK instead of MODERATOR-any input that you'd like to throw my way about this?????????

Please remember TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! I pray the scales are good to us all, esp. me!!!!!!!!

Toodles

Hope this is the right thing to post! I guess this will take some getting used to! I found you all i was lost i guess. I just clicked around the 3fatchicks site and found the message boards. I had the old one book marked and kept going back to that thinking that the new board would be up! oh well.
I have NOT had the best week end or best past two days. No school for two days and hubby has been home-no hotel for him Viv! And tomorrow looks alittle bleek also. I did well on Fri. which is always a bad day for me. Saturday started off well and ended up bad sunday also. Then Monday hubby went off to the store for more milk since the weatherman said to. I was so depressed about more snow and wanting spring i just ate all sorts of bad stuff. When hubby goes to the store he brings more bad stuff in. I did excersise Sunday and yesterday i am in pain from the work out yesterday so i guess it was a good one but i just am not with it girls. I start the day out very well but something just goes into my trap with out even thinking till after and then i am MAD MAD MAD! I guess i am having my "i am cured moments again" went shopping and got some size 7 jeans! ha those suckers probably won't fit! I am so discusted with myself. I know what to do i just have to do it. Being home from work also does not help. Oh well i guess i will try not to get run over by the wagon!! Wish me luck!
I talked to Ms.liz in the WW chat during my withdrawal the other night that was nice. I also chatted with BOB in the 3fat chicks chat.
Deb-yeah on the jeans-that whole thing sounded painful! thanks for all the emails and all your hard work. You are a "super chick"! how do i get to the smileys???
viv-i am with ya girl!!! Consider yourself lucky hubby is in a hotel! i didn't even shovel today i just watched! i made the kids lunch and did some housework. I was to sore from that The Firm tape i did. Anyway hubby had yesterday and today off so he needed to do some work! lol
Welcome Debstahl!!!!
good luck with the weighins tomorrow i won't be able to get to that scale i am sure the kids will be here-AGAIN. Today was my WW meeting which i missed for the 3rd week in a row. This i think also is adding to my frustration!! I need to get this together! bye for now! Glad i found you all!!!!!

Hope all is well with each of you.I'm sorry I'm being very unattentive. Promise to be back to my old faithful self when we get back!!!

DEB---I don't have yours or NARDA's phone numbers. So if you want, just email me at the aol address.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR......It's cold here on the west coast of FLA!!! Supposed to get down in the low 40's tonight. The wind is blowing about twenty mph and that makes it a lot colder. Windshield factor should be in the mid to low 30's.....
I know this is a drop in the bucket to what my BUDDIES
in the north are going thru right now. Stay inside and STAY WARM!!!

Wanted to let you all know that I found out that the nuts (most of them ) that we can buy in the grocery have some sort of perservatives in them! This is a no-no
to an extent..Always buy from the health food store.
The tip about the brazil nuts works..I was leery at first, but I tried it, and BY GOLLY....IT TOOK MY HUNGER AWAY!

I responded to Deb again about her title...I have now changed my suggestion to SUPER CHICK MODERATOR!
What do you all think?

I'm off to do some "detective lurking"....I'm really curious about the results to Jennifer's (MAMAHEN) question about the combo WW/LC forum she wants to create.

Just got home from a day out, didn't really do much, got a late start and spent a few hours with Sharon. We went to this store I go to once in a while called DIET DEPOT and they have a few sugar free maple syrups, one new one by JOSEPH'S looked interesting, just to let you know.

FYI It seems more smilies were added since this morning and we now have our EEK:eek: back, among others!!!!! I LOVE this NO NO! :nono:

RHROO, glad you were able to find your way back "home". When you reply, you'll see the smilies link to the left, just click on that and it will show you the new smilies.:)

QUILTER, if you see this Kim, I e-mailed you my phone numbers, so check your AOL e-mails!! See you soon!!!!!!!!!!!

BIGO, yep, it's getting cold here again! BRRRR back at yah! I have Brazil nuts in the freezer, but they are SOOOO fattening! How many did you say would be enough to help??? SUPER CHICK MODERATOR??? Doesn't sound so appealing to me, any other ideas??? Should I just keep my SUPER CHICK status from before??

Well, gotta run, again, please remember TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! Let's all pray to the Diet Godess for her blessings tomorrow, I surely need some extra help!

Hi all-
I need to share what I made tonight. I thought it was good! I've been wanting to try REAL oatmeal so I made some (yes, rolled oats) on the stove with milk instead of water. When the oatmeal was done I mixed in two tbls. of sugar free maple syrup. It was good! One tbls. didn't seem to be enough, but I may try to get used to it. Two was very good. I use Log Cabin brand sugar free maple syrup. They use Splenda as a sweetner. I actually liked the real oatmeal much better than instant...it was much heartier.

I am in a quandry...I am close to goal (about 2 lbs.) and I am starting to worry how I am going to maintain. I am wondering if I have license to "cheat" occasionally. Of course I'm afraid that if I cheat it will escalate and instead of having something illegal once a week or once every other week I'll be convincing myself its okay a couple times a week etc. I suppose the scale will tell the tale. Does anybody have ANY insights? Anyone ever experience this?

Deb...where did you see the # of hits or log ins or whatever?? I'd like to see that. I'm glad you are able to right click now to copy and paste. There is usually a keyboard short cut for any function.

Rhroo...sorry you were feeling so angry at yourself. I've been snowed in for 2 1/2 days and I was eating too much. I stayed legal but just barely. Its soooo hard for me to control my eating when I am just hanging around the house. Back to school tomorrow! Keep exercising..that will make you feel better..you know..endorphins and all that jazz.

I think I just realized I can't go back and review what everyone has posted at the bottom of this screen...

Okay..got it.

didjaever...congrats on the 6 lbs. That will keep you motivated to stay on program.

Fillise...welcome! Lent is a great time to start this way of eating! I'm hearing ppl say "I gave up sweets for Lent" and I'm thinking.."40 days isn't enough!" I'm trying to think of sugar (as in refined in cookies etc) as poison to my body. I may be able to convince myself!! :)

Annette2...glad you're feeling better!! You've got my curiousity piqued with Viv. What's the scoop...convince her to tell us!

MsLiz1956...the pic is AWESOME! Thanks so much for posting it. Pictures make life on the computer so much more interesting!!!

Does anyone know how I can change my profile? I can't seem to find it....

Well, I'm off for now. Gotta get prepared to go back out to the real world tomorrow! The snow is cleared!

Oops..almost forgot! I agree with BigOrange...I think SUPER CHICK MODERATOR is the perfect name for Deb!!

Well, I've spent a little time just maneuvering around on this new board. What are all the funny suitcase icons? Why do some of them have something that looks like flames on them? What is the column that has smilie faces kor document icons in it? What are these for? I had to reregister to post a reply. I also had to rebookmark to get to the forum. I also notice that the board is slower to come up on my screen. I have to wait about 30 sec. to 60 sec. for it to come up. It looks like there are more features, though. We should get used to it pretty easily. Just wonder about those icons, though.
Ate well today. Lots of veggies. In fact, it is 10 pm. here and I'm hungry right now. Veggies don't last as well as fat does. If someone walked by with a bowl of Hagen Daaz right now, I think I'd eat it!! Guess I'll have to find something else. Maybe a grapefruit half.
Also, why does each post say "Report to 3FC" on the bottom?
Sorry for all the questions, but definitely am curious.

Just a quick hello to all of you gals. Just got on to read the posts of the day. On my 12 hr shifts, so I'm fixing to go to bed.

BOB, I like Super Chick Moderator too. Go for it Debbie!

All of you stuck in the snow, Spring is coming, I know it is. Hang in there. I don't eveny you'll.

Things are getting greener here, especially after all that rain we just got.

I couldn't find the smilies, but I just now did... Is the chat room still there? Can't seem to find it. Also, what is GMT??? I see the time is way ahead of us.

Good luck on WIW! Catch you'll later.

Good evening everyone. Hope you all had a good SB day. Didn't have time to post earlier to-day as I had to scoot out right after supper. Didn't even have much time to lurk while at work to-day.

Gator, If you go to the main Sugar Buster page and scroll to the bottom of the page it tells you what those suitcase icons are. The "Report to 3FC" at the bottom of each post is if you want to complain about the post. Try clicking on it and you will see. Just make sure you don't 'submit' it! I guess it will take us a while to get used to the new board. I've had a few e-mails telling me that someone has posted a message following my last post which I think is quite unnecessary. I thought I eliminated that item from my profile. I'll have to go back and check it again.

Have to get ready to hit the sack. Just had a phone call asking me to go into work in am - and I was expecting to go in for the evening shift. I'm not complaining - now I'll be able to go and play badminton tomorrow evening.

Well, so much for a 6 pound lose. It apparently had no effect where my jeans are concerned. I almost cried this morning when I couldn't even get the zipper up....I could when I was 6 pounds heavier....go figure!! The body is a crazy thing. I have to keep telling myself drink that WATER WATER WATER!!!!

BTW...I was shocked to find out about the peanuts. I went our and bought some unsalted planters mixed nuts like they suggest in SB grocery book and now.......:nono:

DEBELLI - I vote for SUPER CHICK!!!

TTFN everyone!!

Howdy, All!

BABE - I don't wanna hear that BRRRR stuff!!! Not when I'm shoveling 9" of snow outta my drive. Or trying to cross Cleveland streets and finding myself holding onto parking meters to avoid getting blown in front of a passing truck... :p I'm SO ready for spring....

DIDJA (and everybody else) - have you tried Dandelion Root for the water retention? I absolutely swear by it. You can find it in places that sell supplements. It's a natural herbal diuretic. Just make sure you're drinking lots of water, or your body will retain even more. Once your body gets used to increased fluid intake, if you decrease that, your body will hold onto whatever it gets!

DEBELLI - I vote for SuperDuper MegaChick Extraordinaire! ;) Seriously, "moderator" sounds too much like "Meet the Press." Boring. I'd opt for regaining the SuperChick title.

VIV - seems like you're having a bad run of luck these days...winter blues, by any chance? :) Usually, about this time of year, I'm ready to choke anybody who even looks at me. Then I discovered tanning.... Hang on - spring's right around the corner!

I'll check in later after I weigh in officially. Okay, so I'm cheating. Monday is my WW weigh-in day and Wednesday is my SB weigh-in day. I get two! I'm sure that will cease if my weight loss does! But for now, I look forward to weigh-in days. (How's THAT for bizarre?)

Even though I am still grouchy today, I wanted to post some info on carob, since I have been consuming unsweetened carob covered peanuts or almonds when I need a sweet/energy boost, and have really grown to love them. Wanted to learn more about it. Here's some info - DEB, wanted to leave it up to you if you wanted to move this all to the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD. Your call. More grouchy posting later (and someday I will disclose my previous glamorous life, but too grouchy today).

The other major food source derivrd from Carob is from the ground up pod itself, which forms a high protein powder that is an effective substitute for Cocoa powder. Carob powder has a number of advantages over Cocoa powder and as such is often used to make what has come to be known as 'healthy chocolate'. Carob powder is free of the allergetic and addictive effects of caffeine and theobromine present in Cocoa. It also contains less fat and more sugar than Cocoa. Cocoa has around 23% fat and 5% sugar while Carob contains apporoximately 7% fat and 42-48% sugar. Carob powder is often used as a substitute for cocoa at rates of up to 50%. Used in this manner Carob has become a popular chocolate substitute used in a huge variety of confectionery products and drinks as well as a general sweetener. Carob is also used to make flour, molasses, alcohol and a substitute for coffee and eggs.
(Hmm, I wonder about that sugar content....DEB??)

Apart from the health benefits obtained by subsituting Carob for Cocoa and synthetic sweeteners in our diet, Carob also has excellent nutritional value. Along with up to 80% protien, it contains Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Potassium Manganese, Barium, Copper, Nickel and the vitamins A, B, B2, B3, and D. It also has medicinal uses including the treatment of coughs and diarrhoea.

Hope this is interesting to some of you - anyone else enjoy carob coated nuts?

Hello everyone! It has been so nice to be welcomed onto this board by everyone. :D

I'm holding steady this week--which I'm counting as victory. Before Lent I had gotten a little sloppy and was letting things creep in that I shouldn't have been eating. I didn't really gain weight, but my water retention was fluctuating wildly. In the week since I made the decision to follow this WOE with no exceptions during Lent, the fluctuation has stopped. So I'm thinking the toxins have been flushed from my body.

So the qestion remains what happens after Lent is over. What I'm hoping is that by then I've really settled into this again (like I was last summer and fall) and it is habit. It is already seeming that way. But still some celebration will be in order, so I'm thinking new clothes. :D My clothes from last summer are already too big and hopefully they will be even bigger by Easter.

I hope everyone up north is digging out. I don't suppose you want to hear about the azealas in my yard that are budding. I spent five winters in Iowa and vowed I'd never leave the south again ;)

Hi all you losers!

Happy wiw!

I have a question. Last night (again), I wrote up a really nice long response and spoke to everyone individually. I was on the last one and I got kicked off Aol for "being idle too long". I had been typing for an hour, so I don't get that to start with. Deb, you mentioned something about copying every once in a while, is that the copy under edit? I am not a puter whiz like the rest of you gals.

Oh, well, only have a few minutes, but have to tell you all something hilarious. At the bottom of Big Orange's messages, they are always signed BOB. Well, dunce that I am, I think this whole time that BOB is Bob and that Big Orange is a very sensitive and great GUY!! I couldn't figure out who in the H____ Narda was!!! LOL  I just figured it all out last night!!!! When Viv and I were on the "boys suck" binges, I kept apologizing to BOB!!!!!!!!!!!! Tee Hee... Oh well, so I am a little slow.

Deb: I like Super Chick or Super Duper Chick....

Liz: you really are keeping everyone hanging!!! I am going to blab your secret soon! :sneaky:
Oh, yeah, great picture too! Hey, I am going to be in Erie at the end of the month! Probably won't be able to get over to Cleveland, but I will be close.

Well, sorry I don't have more time... gotta go see the arthritis doctor - I have arthritis in both my feet, sucks, I can't walk for exercise anymore - but am hoping he can help me slow it down. He really has been a godsend so far! He will be happy that I am eating this way as a weight loss would be great for the feet!

I will talk to youall later!! I agree, It is BRRRRR even here in FL!

ANNETTE - what secret?!? Honestly, I'm clueless...

This will be sorta long, but....I simply HAVE to tell you all what happened to me today. You may or may not know, but I started my "rebuilding" process in August. I weighed 123# and my body fat was over 32%. I felt disgusted and decided I was going to do something about it. I've been a bookreading couch potato my entire life. The closest I ever came to "athletic" was watching the Indians games on TV.

I started on my own, with the help of the awesome book "Body for Life," weight training and doing interval aerobics six days a week. I've known that the body has to change from the inside out, so I haven't seen much measurable progress and had absolutely no weight loss in all those months. (That's why I started WW)

Anyway, I ended up hiring a personal trainer (best $ I ever spent). When I hit a personal goal, I rewarded myself with a new workout outfit which I wore for the first time today. Stretch pants, a zip-up sweatshirt and a cute little bra-type top. I usually work out in long pants and a long-sleeve T-shirt.

Today it was jus the 2 of us in the gym and I took off the sweatshirt. She made me work out in front of the mirrors so I could see my muscles work as I trained them. I don't even have a full-length mirror at home. I can't describe the feeling today...it was like watching someone ELSE'S body in that mirror. I guess I hadn't recognized the extent of the recent changes...I just never really looked. I looked like something out of one of those daggone fitness mags, gals. I'm still on the verge of tears....

Just wanted to share.

MsLiz - I've been meaning to ask you about BFL. Saw your pictures linked to your bio and was totally amazed!! What you saw in the mirror today was totally apparent to me in those pictures! I went to a bookstore to pick up a copy, but they didn't have it. Thought you could give me an overview so I could see if it sounds like something I would stick to - and then buy the book (I already have an extensive library on diets and don't need anymore that are going to collect dust).

FYI, I'm one of the many lurkers that draw inspiration from all of you on a daily basis. Thanks for all of the useful information. Now if I could only put it into practice consistently!

Happy WIW! I'm glad I can say I'm down another 2 pounds. Sometimes I really feel like I'm not depriving myself enough to lose weight. Seems like all the other diets I've tried I felt like I was really sacrificing. On SB, I don't feel that way which is liberating! I know I'm not as "strict" as many of you are, but I'm still losing at an ok rate - and it's something I can live with.

Annette2 - you asked about the filters for spam - I think signing up for E-bay started the biggest part of it because most of these spams are related to merchant accounts, credit cards, debt, mortgage, etc. I was able to create a filter to catch e-mails with these phrases and direct them to a separate folder. Sometimes legitimate e-mails have some of the words and end up there, so you just have to check it and look. If there's nothing you want, you can delete the whole contents of the folder. Anyway, if you have Microsoft Outlook Express, go to File and click on New and set up a new folder (mine is called spam). Then go to Tools - Message - Rules - Mail. Under the tab for Mail Rules, name your rule (such as spam1) and click on new (or maybe it's click on new then name it - one of those). Then follow through the info there and check the boxes that are appropriate and then think of the key words that come through on your spam (mine were the ones I mentioned and a few more). Make sure you set it up for incoming mail, because you don't want it to go through your e-mails that you have opened and are saving in the inbox every time. That's really time consuming and things you don't want moved will get moved. If you have any questions, e-mail me. I hope this works for you if you try it. I'm not a computer wiz either, but I try to figure things out.

I like the name of Super Duper Chick for Deb--that was a good suggestion.

Keep up the good work everyone - you are all awesome!

Hi everyone :)

Well, the news is not good for WIW. :( I am up 2 pounds since yesterday, weighing in at 207 lbs after being 205 since last Wednesday. I did not eat well yesterday. Had mainly legal stuff but too much of it. No excuses except that I was pissed about something so stuffed my face. Feeling better to-day. Determined to get back on track. I just can't bear the thought of gaining.

The weather is better to-day. It's been a bright, sunny springlike day. Just having sunshine lifts the spirits, after so many dull, snowy days. I know we haven't had it as bad as the Eastern US but we have still had much more snow than usual and driving conditions were very poor for several days.

The only exercise I've had this past several days is a bit of snow shovelling. I have to get back to the exercises and swimming. Hoping to go for badminton this evening.

Debelli, I think SUPERCHICK is just fine.

Is everyone getting e-mail notification when someone posts after they have posted. I went back to my profile and de-selected this option also did not select it at the bottom of the message page but I am still getting e-mails. Any ideas about this anyone?

Viv, thanks for the info about Carob. I too would wonder about the sugar content. I am not too familiar with carob, have never tried it. What is on the coating for the nuts? Is it from the bean or the ground up pod? Sorry for my ignorance.

Fillise, I am sure if you can keep to this WOE up until Lent you shouldn't have any trouble afterwards. By then all the sugar toxins should be out of your system and it should be easier to maintain this woe. Enjoy some new clothes for the summer. You deserve them. And I love to hear about your spring flowers coming up. We know we can look forward to the same in the not too distant future. (I hope.)

Annette, when I am typing in a post I usually type it in Wordpad then copy and paste it into the message area. This way if you are interrupted while typing your post you can save it and come back later to finish it. What I also do is right click at the bottom of the screen and choose 'tile horizontally" and I get both Wordpad and SB message board on screen at the same time so I can scroll through the posts while typing the message. To get back to separate screens right click again and choose 'undo tile'. Sorry to hear about the arthritis and I hope you can soon get it under control.

MsLiz, that's great progress you have made.

Congratulations to all the losers this week and to the rest just hang in there.

Bye for now.

Marie.:)

Evening All!:D

Can't believe it's been so long since I got on the board. I wasn't able to get on this morning, had to get in my walk, jump in the shower (please, don't try to invision that one) get Lauren to school and get to my boobie smashing/foot x-ray appt. by 9:00am. Afterwards, I went with Eli to his guinea pig appointment (he's going to be in a test for a new cholestorol drug), came back, went to the grocery store, picked up Lauren and came home - I'm pooped!!! Going to Eli's Starbucks this evening for a special coffee tasting he's having with some guy coming in from Seattle, just as support since I don't drink the stuff:nono:

When I was at Publix I found a salad dressing so SB legal! Never noticed it before, usually don't buy ready-made dressings, but did decide to buy this one. It's called CAFE ATHENS made by Marjon Specialty Foods, the one I got is GREEK FETA, there is another one that was SB legal as well that I saw, forgot the flavor. Anyhow, the ingredients are water, soybean oil, olive oil, feta cheese, lime juice, spices, dried egg, nonfat milk & vinegar. NO PRESERVATIVES, 0 grams sugar. Thought I would share that with you.

On the WIW report, I am still up, up 3lbs from my low, up 1/2 pound since last week. I don't think it's the sourdough because I haven't eaten any in a few days. I think it's a combo of not keeping track, not getting in hardly any water (sometimes I just can't stomach it, I gag) and not enough fiber (haven't been eating any veggies). I am going to try to do better this week and see what happens. I honestly feel thinner, and I've had about 6-7 people just in the past few days come up and tell me I look like I lost more weight in my face. I dare not even try those jeans on for a while!!!:nono:

Went for my boobie smashing today, what is the big flippin deal with it, only the cold bothered me for a split second. They also took an xray of my foot to see if that is indeed a bone spur, probably is. Hey, I even made a GYN appt for next month-you should all be proud of me!!!

OVERCOME, glad to hear you like the rolled oats, I like using them in some cookies I make (SB legal of course). I can totally understand how you feel about hitting goal and maintaining your weight loss. You're closer than I am, but it's still a thought we both should be thinking about. I think of this as a way I will eat for the rest of my life, but when I hit goal, I may try to see how my body reacts to certain foods by bringing some back in slowly, by these, I mean some fruits and veggies that aren't SB legal. I can't see any reason for me to add other items, like white rice, white pasta, etc. The browns are much more healthier, and I like them better. If something doesn't agree with me, I'll just remove it. I want to get to goal and then go 5lbs more "whenever" so I have this 5lbs to use as a "TEST". I'm sure you'll do fine! If you go to the MAIN SB BOARD, you will see the hits listed towards the right on each board, we have well over 400 so far on this board! To change your profile, just go to the top of the page and hit PROFILE and change away!!!

VIV, Thanks for posting the carob info. I use carob and find it easy to use. If anyone wants to try it and isn't quite sure, they can use 1/2 cocoa powder, 1/2 carob ina recipe, then increase the carob next time, then total carob. How exactly are the nuts coated with the carob-meaning, how does it stay on them???

FILLISE, glad to hear your holding steady. I'm sure by next week you'll have a loss, and you'll be settled right back into familiar territory. Just think, you are just 11 pounds til you get under the 250 mark! Set little goals for yourself, stick with us, and you'll be at goal before you know it!!!!:D

DIDJA, yep, lots of water (don't follow my recent examples), but I don't take water pills-not sure if anyone besides BARBEE does on this board. Trust me, you'll hit the loo enough if you are drinking enough.

ANNETTE, that happens to me once in a while now, but not that much. For some reason, AOL doesn't recognize that typing is not being idle. I will e-mail you the KEEPITUP program site that helps take care of this problem MOST of the time. I found it easier to type my reply into an e-mail and then copy and paste it onto the board. Even if I get logged off I still have it-NOW, if my computer freezes up, like the other night:mad: then I lose everything!!!!!!!!!!!! That is, unless I use the SEND LATER button from time to time to put a copy into my filing cabinet! Also, I think you somehow have your SMILIES programed off, they aren't showing up in your post, but I see the typing of them there. Sorry to hear about your feet, that sounds so painful!

RHROO, glad to hear things aren't as bad as you thought!!! Hope you have a quiet day tomorrow-why were the kids home-snow day???

MSLIZ, I've seen a site someone here on the board posted a few months ago of people who were doing BFL and I just couldn't believe the results! They are amazing! I have the book on order at the library, but it's in such demand, it may be a while. Thanks for sharing your story with the board, that's wonderful!!! What does your trainer think of your weight loss since you started SB/WW???

MELF, just saying HI!!:D

KAREN, CONGRATS on your loss today-seems you're one of the few lucky ones this week. You are right, SB doesn't make you feel deprived, that's how I've been able to successfully stick with it almost a year!

ROSALIE, don't worry about those 2lbs, I'm sure it's just water weight, and besides, you are in good company!:D I do get messages when someone replies to the board, but not all the time-I'll have to ask Suzanne why this happens. I don't think it's necessary for everyone to have this feature.

HEY, where are all our other board members that seem to be MIA??? You know who I'm referring to-YOU!!!!!!

Well gals, I've gotta run. Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY There isn't much at all on the new recipe board, but I know I will be posting 1 or 2 recipes tomorrow.

I'll try to check in with you all later, otherwise, tomorrow!!!

Toodles!

EVENING EVERYBUDDY :D

YES, you guessed it.....BOB has lost 2.7 lbs!!! YEA YEA
I stopped taking my hormones, feel better, and hopefully have stopped retaining water :nono:

ANNETTE: I had to  today when I read your post. And it killed me to be at work and not be able to reply to you. I had no idea that you didn't know that I wasn't a man! I saw all of those "I'm sorry" quotes, but didn't know why you were saying it. From now on, I'll try to click out my messages in a high pitch!

OVERCOME: Now that you've discovered REAL oatmeal,
get some of the IRISH OATMEAL...It's better for you than the Quaker. It's a little more expensive, but the results will be better in the long run.
There is a "sentence line" under the post block that says
"this is a long thread..click here to review it" after you click it , a new window will pop up.

DIDJAEVER: Go to the health food store and get some "dandeline" in the vitamin section. It's a natural diuretic "sp?"....OOPS...Liz just said that...I knew I read that somewhere!!!

LIZ: I DO NOT ENVY YOU AND THAT SNOW SHOVEL!!! It's pretty nice here tonight. Equivilant to a cool spring evening up there. In the 60's right now, but it's supposed to drop again. I had the heat on for a while last night to knock the chill out of the house.

VIV: thanks for the post on CAROB...It's a good one

FILLISE: As for after LENT? Just give it up again for the 4th of July! Then keep giving it up again for every major holiday after that until you reach LENT again! PROBLEM SOLVED

MelG: WELCOME...and come on in and join us. I'm bad for LURKING, but most of the time, I'm just looking around to see what's going on in the other forums. I do find that I HAVE to speak my peace every once in a while to make my presence known. GLAD YOU'RE HERE!

DEB: I don't really mind the mamograms, but RIDING THAT SILVER SADLE? I JUST DON'T LIKE THROWING MY LEGS UP IN SOMEONES FACE LIKE THAT!! Never have...never will...BUT, I commend you for making that appointment....NOW BE SURE AND KEEP IT!!!

Well Ladies...must tend to Skeeter...he has licked his little paws raw...the pollen gets between the pads on his feet and he licks and licks, and then licks somemore!
I've got to clean them real good then put neosporin and SOCKS complete with tape around the top. Hopefully this will allow them to heal! CHILDREN!!!! :dizzy:

I'm still amazed at the welcome from everyone :)

I'm trying to learn names so if I miss someone please accept my apologies--I'm gaining strength from each and every post.

Debelli--I'm quite impressed with all you do on the SB board! Thanks for keeping up.

Bigorgangebabe--I saw on your bio that you are a big UT fan. I'm in Auburn so our teams will be meeting in the SEC tournament tomorrow! I'm from NC originally and we take our basketball as seriously as SEC folks talk their football.

Everyone else--it's a daily struggle isn't it? Today I had lunch at Red Lobster. Two of the women I was with ordered fried appetizers and one was bound and determined I was going to eat some of them (do you ever get the feeling that there are some twisted people out there who see trying to knowck you off your diet as a game?) :( I kept refusing politely until I finally pointed out that fried vegetables were still FRIED! Then when the broiled fish I ordered came out of the kitchen it was--you guessed it--fried! The waiter was so sweet and apologetic that he had to send it back and I had to wait another 10 minutes for my lunch that he kep trying to give me a free dessert. If it haden't been for the Lent thing I probably would have caved at that point (oh let's face it, I probably would have caved in the face of the fried calamari). But I didn't, so I'm rewarding myself this evening with a lean steak and steamed artichokes.

In fact dinner should be just about ready.

Have a good evening everyone!

Annette....you're tooooooo funny with your story about BOB...Thanks, I needed a laugh  Girl, hope they can help you with those feet!

MelG, nice seeing you on the board again. Come by more often!

Liz, congrads on your acheivement!! I know you must be proud to have accomplished so much. Sounds like the trainer is paying off. Really nice picture you posted the other day in your black dress.

Karen, sounds like you're following this WOE well enough if you're losing. Isn't it great that we can eat & NOT feel deprived!?

Rosalie, Good that you're able to get back to work. I sometimes complain about having to go to work, but 99% of the time, I'm happy with my work & it helps me to be occupied. Hey, I use WordPad to make my notes too, then copy & paste it into the reply screen, but I don't understand about where to click to do the "tile"??

Fillise, by the time lent is over, you should be well into this WOE so that you will not want to return to any other WOE. Keep up the good work. Good for you in sticking to your guns at lunch today! It will pay off.

Viv, I've never had Carob, but have wondered about it as I've seen the name, so your info was interesting to read. I wonder about the sugar content, though.

didja, I have problems drinking all that water too....I try, but it just is not happening for me! I am drinking more than I use to, but no where near enough.

OVERCOME, I read your post last night about using SF maple syrup to sweeten your REAL oatmeal & it made me go to bed dreaming about it. I got up this morning & fixed me some before I went to work....YUM YUM!! Thanks for the idea.

Debbie...Glad to hear that you didn't find the mammogram too painful. I've read or heard that they have developed a new way to do these that is pain free, but I'm sure we'll never have that available here in my lifetime.. what you think is going on with the weight gain...you sure you not PG?? Has the chat room been added on this new server or not? I can't seem to find it.

Well, I did loose another lb this week. I also picked up some Carb Solution bars last week. They have 2 gms sugar & 21 gms protein. Seem to be SB legal. I cut one in 4 & have been using that to help tie me over during my 12 hr shifts cause I eat breakfast at 6am, lunch around noon, then don't get home till 7:30 for supper. I usually have fruit during the morning, but I get hungry about 4-5pm, so these bars have been helping me make it to supper. Anyone else tried these??

Well, I've been a little long winded here, but wanted to say hello to everyone. Hope I didn't leave anyone out.

Hello all-
Just made some oatmeal tonight to warm up for breakfast tomorrow. Don't know how that will work!

Fillise...I'm GLAD to hear your azaleas are blooming! IT gives me hope! When our azaleas bloom the *#%!^$% deer will eat them. I'll live vicariously through you :)

MsLiz1956...your story was wonderful. It is life affirming really! It will motivate you to stay healthy. I am so happy for you.

Rosalie!!!! What an awesome tip you gave me!!! I never tried the tiled windows before. Whoa! You just made my life soooo much easier. I love it!! I'm using it right now. Thanks so much! And yes, I am getting email notification because I left it checked the first time I posted. Since this is one long thread whenever someone responds I get an email. When the new week starts be sure to to have the box unchecked (it is under the window you post in) and it shouldn't happen, as far as I know.

Debelli...glad you're going to the Dr. for check ups. It sucks but is a fact of life. I agree with BOB about the silver saddle..yuck. Salad dressing sound great! I'm going to look for that brand. I think I'll take your advice about reaching goal (although I may be at a stand still now!). I'm thinking of more for convenience sake...like when everyone goes out for pizza on a friday night i'll get a slice and a salad. Stuff like that. I will def. stick to the "brown" carbs as a way of daily eating.

Where is CONNIE???

I'm going to check out Body for Life at Amazon. Good night all.

Hi everyone!

I just got back from Michigan (again). I had a very nice visit with my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. We did get quite a lot of snow on Monday though.

Debbie, thanks so much for all of the hard work you have done for the board. And thanks for the joke. I needed a good laugh.

Congratulations to all of you who have lost weight and to those that have gained or stayed the same, just keep on keeping on. It will happen. I haven't weighed in yet this week. I'll do it tomorrow morning and let you know what happens.

Well, I tried to send a reply a few minutes ago and to send an attachment of my grandson, Jesse, and new granddaughter, Amber. It said that it was too big. So, I have altered it and am trying to send it all again.

I investigated Body for Life. There is tons of FREE Information on the web site. They set up the program for you and everything! MsLiz I really admire you! It takes a lot of determination to start a program like that. Here's the URL for those interested

Thanks to all of you for the thumbs-up...that really helps keep me motivated, too. To answer your questions:

My trainer loves that I’m on WW. I discussed it with her when I was looking for something to give me more structure. And she’s a big fan of low-glycemic living.

If anybody had told me this time last year that I'd be a gym rat, I would have laughed in their face!! I totally credit Body For Life for transforming my life. It was just what I needed, just when I needed it. Bill Phillips, the creator of BFL, is a remarkable man on a remarkable mission! The book is simply incredible, and the photos are certified as legitimate – lie detector tests and all.

I researched a lot of programs (like I did SB and WW) because I knew whatever I picked had to FIT IN MY LIFE. The idea of spending 1-2 hours a day on a treadmill or figuring out Nautilus machines totally turned me off & I knew I’d never stick with anything like that. The beauty of BFL is that the emphasis is on intensity, not duration, of workouts. My workouts fit in my lunch hour, and that’s including time to shower!

When I found the Body for Life book, I just knew it was something I could pull off. BFL addresses physical training, nutrition, and the most important part, which is motivation. He takes the approach that change happens from the inside out, and BFL gets you to use VERY SPECIFIC goals for change, which was the most helpful part. I ended up having to make some changes to the nutritional portion (thus SB and WW), but as we all know, there’s really no one-size-fits-all program when you’re talking a total internal and external transformation.

I’ve never felt better, and I know exactly what I want my body to look like when I’m done. I’ve been able to maintain my motivation pretty consistently since August, with a few times of slacking off. For me, the most remarkable part of BFL hasn’t been the muscles! It’s been the internal challenges – what Bill Phillips calls “The Abyss” – and the changes in my personhood that have come from deciding to do this and following through with it. Not to get into details – this is long enough! – but I feel like I’ve regained control of my life, and have come through a very difficult personal transition because of it. The physical changes are just icing on the cake!

If you want a true picture – literally! - of what BFL is all about, go to www.bodychangers.com - those are ordinary people, some of whom I know. I correspond with some of them nearly daily, and they continue to transform their bodies. I could go on all day! If you want to yak about specifics, email me!!! Part of my BFL outcome is a commitment to helping others do what I’ve done.

Later!!

Hi all

I just finished typing a post and the power flickered before I had saved it. GRRRRRRR. So I'll try to remember what I wrote.

Yesterday was a better day for me, I managed to stay on plan and am back down again to 205 1/2 from 207 yesterday. Got some exercise in last evening. Played badminton and it was a really good aerobic workout.

Melf, to do the tile point the cursor arrow on the task bar at the bottom of the screen - thats the grey bar with the small program icons where you also have the START menu. Choose a blank part of the bar, right click then you can choose to 'Tile Windows Horizontally'.

Debbie, glad the boob smashing wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. I think it often happens that way, when you are told how bad something is going to be you expect the worse and it often turns out not so bad.

Overcome, I think I had that box unchecked when I posted but can't say for sure now. I will remember to check it (or uncheck it ) when I first post to the new board and see what happens. When I read the e-mail this morning I clicked on one of the URLs at the bottom of the page which said something about 'unsubscribe from all threads" hoping this would eliminate the e-mails but I am not sure what this has done. I'll have to wait and see. I thought all my posts might disappear but they are still there!

Rhroo, how are you doing to-day. Have the kids gone back to school?

Cheri, what a beautiful picture of the grandchildren. Thanks for posting it.

Must finish this off, hope I remembered everything. Hope to get in a swim before going to the hairdresser.

Have a good SB day.

Marie :)

I think I need a vacation. Oops, I'm getting one in.....15 days, 1 hour and 21 minutes!

Anyway, I am still too grouchy to respond in a cheerful and gleeful manner, but....

Deb - the carob is just kinda rolled around the nuts, like chocolate covered raisins. The bin at WO just says Unsweetened carob and peanut or almonds. I dunno. Love them!

Cheri - what a great picture! Adorable!

Well I am totally looking forward to my weekly fix of Survivor tonite! Wondering what b*tchy thing Jeff is going to say or what nasty and evil thing Jerri is going to do. Hee hee. Problem is Big DS always talks through it with comments and questions. Sheesh. Will have to tie bandana around his mouth tonite.

Hey Ya'll

Okay, I'm probably the "biggest thing" to ever hit this message board....coming in at a whopping 325 lbs.

Just signed up yesterday, (thanks Debelli for the warm welcome). My bio is posted in the bio section.

I need help ladies! I need to make some changes and my biggest problem is staying motivated. But hey, things are already looking up....I can stay on a "diet" for up to 6 hours now!!! 4 hours was my previous record.

Seriously, at 325 lbs I feel like I'm so far behind the
8-ball that I'll never see 150 lb. again. I mean being motivated to lose 25 -50 lbs is rather easy compared to having to lose 175 lbs. That's why it's hard for me to stay motivated. I keep looking too far ahead! I know it's a mind thing, but when I lose a mere 1-2 lbs. a week it's seems like a small drop in a very big bucket. And I get discouraged on those weeks when I lose 0.

Believe it or not I'm really rather healthy. BP stays around 130/70....cholestral (?) is 120...everything works well, but excerise is difficult because of the stress it puts on my overweight frame.

A couple weeks ago was Mardi Gras here in Louisiana. I belong to a Krewe and it's a lot of work. For the first time, I couldn't keep up. I made it diffcult for my friend. He loves me as I am, but finally admitted, he hates to see me struggle so hard to keep up with normal activities. So in a sense this may be a hidden motivation for me.

Sorry, if I've been rambling! But it feels great to finally admit that I weigh 325 lbs and realize I need to do something about it.

Thanks for listening!

I can feel some lurking going on...CLICK THOSE KEYS!

STAR CHASER & FILLESE: A BIGGER UT FAN WILL ONLY BE FOUND AT MY BROTHERS HOUSE! You'll see just how DIE HARD I AM when September rolls around. I have missed you guys! I didn't know until this morning that the site was back up. I haven't had time to check all the emails that were being sent so I just had to check for myself. I like the new site. I think it offers us some nice new options.

I am still on plan with an occasional slight cheat :nono: here and there just to keep my sanity. I'm down to 164 after weeks and weeks of very little loss. I am thrilled to be this close to the 1/2 way mark. I am into some 14s with a 16 or to thrown in. I was even able to zip up some 10s and 12s even though I can't leave the house in them!

DEB - Thanks for checking in with me. I'm fine, just waaaay to busy! ;)

I have attached a BEFORE picture when I was at my heaviest, before SB and returning to the gym. I would guess that I'm about 200 pounds here. I will send a new one pretty soon. I hate how mad I look. It was one of those times when someone took a pic when I didn't know she was about to. I can smile!

Gotta go cause Survivor is coming on and my husband is waiting on me!

Later all!

Howdy Strangers......

I was beginning to think I was going to have to go to AAA for a map back to this site;) I am still trying to acclimate myself to these new surroundings. I DO NOT like when I want to post a reply to this board, I can't review back to see what others posted. :?:

Well, Debbie was sweet to email me and see if I was MIA. I have been trying to re-prioritize my morning schedule so that the first thing I do is get my walk done on the TM. I have been at it now for 2 weeks, and it is going pretty good. I have finally un-stalled  I am at 130....FINALLY!!!!! Now, I want to see the 1 eyed steel monster go BELOW 130. One of the motivators to start SB is a wedding I am in at the end of the month. I was 10 lbs heavier when I sent in measurements for the bridesmaid dress. I took it this week to have alterations done, and am sooo glad it needs taking in :smug: Also, in October DH and I are going to Jamaica  I have GOT to look svelte for that!!!!

Seems like everyone has been rather busy this week. Hope the snow is melting for those of you who got that BIG storm. Us folks down south got some more cold weather..brrrrrrrrrr I was saying my prayers the beautiful azaleas wouldn't be destroyed. So far they seem fine.

Viv - sorry you are still feeling grouchy. I am here for you whenever you feel like chatting, girlfriend. Vacation will be here before you know it.

Starchaser - welcome to the board. First I just want to say, regardless the size any of us are, we all should just take this WOE one day at a time. Don't get so far ahead of yourself thinking "geeze 150 to go ". I made a committment with myself that I would just do it in "mini" stages - 5 lbs here etc..... We are here for you.

BOB - Hi there, I am here. Guess I am one of those who has just been lurking lately. Good to see you.

Frog - Seems like you are coming right along. Keep up the good work. Your pic makes me yearn for that warmer weather that is ALMOST here :D

And to all the other members, just want you to know how much I enjoy reading your posts. We can learn so much from each other. Look forward to more reading. Take care everyone.

Evening All:D

I wasn't able to get onto the board before now. After my morning mishap of losing my post I went for a late walk then had one of my nieces for the afternoon and when she went home, Michael hogged the computer for hours-finally had to kick him off. Have a few minutes to post before Eli is due home-poor guy's been working like a dog.

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! I, Debbie, FINALLY had a square of chocolate!!!!!!! Don't ask me what possessed me to finally give it a try-you'd think I would of waited til I hit my 1 year anniversary, or some other great moment in time-but I indulged in it, and it was okay, I mean, the chocolate was delicious, but nothing that I wanted another piece of, which I guess is good. Lets see how my body reacts this this now! Anyhow, you'll love my little story on how I came across eating this chocolate, need I remind you I had 8 bars stashed in my cupboard, many since June. Today, I went to WO and saw these bars at the front counter area, so I took a look and noticed they were 72% cocoa content, a bar made in France called CEMOI. Anyhow, I saw that they said BEST BY 01-01, so I asked the Mgr. if she would consider marking it down-she gave them to me instead-saving me $3.39 a bar (not that I would of paid that in the first place). There is one of chocolate and coffee and another with cocoa beans, which is the one I chose to try today. Anyhow, I just wanted to share this bit of information with you, it was a momentus occasion for me!!!!

I guess the chat rooms aren't back, so no chat tonight-I'll miss that, just when we got it back. I'll contact Suzanne and see when they'll be back up.

KIM (QUILTER) e-mailed me to tell you all she said hello. Will be seeing her and Narda (BIGO) on Saturday-will take pictures, which hopefully will be easier to load up than the ones I've yet been able to do!!!!

BIGO, CONGRATS! 2.7 pounds is awesome, wish I could be saying that this week! I may not recognize you Saturday  The silver saddle isn't my favorite thing to do either, as you can tell from my lack of ambition to go for a exam, but it's worse when you have to get a new doctor-meet the guy and spread your legs-UGH! It's very akward to say the least. Poor Skeeter's paws, it must be painful, but I'm sure he loves that Mama pampers him!!!

FILLISE, thanks for such kind words to me and the board. This is great board is definitely a group effort-I depend on this board more than anyone else I think, and for everyone, whether or old new, I am grateful for your presence, input, friendship, and suppoty:) I laughed when you mentioned Red Lobster, I despise the place, but gave in to going with Sharon a few months back-it made me realize just how much I really do hate it!!!

MELF, CONGRATS on your 1lb loss!!! BITE YOUR TONGUE! No, no way am I preg, just had my TOM. I just think my body is acting funky-it's happened before, just have to be patient through this, things will start going back down-I have to think positive!!! I don't believe Suzanne has the chat room up and running again-I'll find out when this will be back up, but not for tonight's chat I guess:(

OVERCOME, how did the oatmeal come out?? Hmm, I e-mailed Connie today to see why she's MIA - no response yet.

CHERI, glad to hear you had a good trip and visit and are back safe and sound. I'm thrilled you were able to get the pics of the kids up, they are so adorable. Sorry I wasn't able to get them up for you-I'm a complete idiot when it comes to zip files.

RHROO, I'm sure you'll have a great week-remember that 60 is well within reach!!!!

MSLIZ, on the BFL, do you have to find a trainer who knows about it or would any trainer be able to help you follow his plan? Your motivation is truly inspiring!!!

UGH, here it is now, 9:26pm, and I didn't get to finnish my post earlier, so here I go...

ROSALIE, I can sympathize with your frustration. I was just finnishing up replying to MSLIZ and my computer logged me off. It's been doing that a lot lately, and I don't know why, but it sure is annoying!!! Glad to see you are back down, congratulations!! As for the boobie smashing, I think it's the women with the perky boobs that must have trouble and pain-not like me with ones that hang!!!

VIV, gonna have to remember to look next time I'm at WO at those carob nuts-was there today and didn't remember. Vacation will be here before you know it!!! Jeff got the boot, too bad it wasn't Jerri, though I hope she's next!!!

STARCHASER, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! I'm sure I can speak for the entire group of gals in saying we're glad you've joined us and we're sure you'll feel right at home. We are here to help in any way we can, so don't hesitate to pick our brains!! Gosh, I can't begin to tell you just how much alike I feel we are. I use to get sooo discouraged on other diets when I didn't see fast results, but not with SB. I, like you, could get through a diet until night time, and then kaboom, I would blow it. The way you feel on SB makes all the difference in the world. You just don't feel deprived at all, and that makes a big difference. Also, coming to terms that this is a life change and not a diet that you are going to go off of makes a difference as well. Set small goals, you will achieve them, and they will all add up to big goals. When I use to weight 284lbs (and I'm only 5' 1 1/2", so you can just picture that one), I never thought I'd get down below 200 much less weigh in the 130's! It can be done, you just need to want it so badly, you can taste it!! There have been many weeks where I have not lost, and yes, it is discouraging, esp. when you know you haven't cheated a lick, walking miles and miles-but I know I will be rewarded with patience, and usually, I am. Patience is one of the main keys to being successful on this WOE. Sticking with us in another one:) Again, welcome!!!!

CHRISTIAN, glad to see you on the board!! Even happier to see you are maintaining-way to go!!!! Any good tips for those that are near goal since you've been at goal for a while now??

FROG, THANK YOU!!! I loved seeing your picture, it's so nice to put a face and name together. You really are a very pretty woman. I can't wait to see an updated picture!!! That's wonderful that you are getting into the smaller clothes, before you know it, you'll be in those single digit pants. Hope to see you back on the board more, we've missed you.

AMSER, glad to see you back on the board as well. CONGRATS on hitting 130!!! WOO HOO!!! Doing a happy dance for you! You're sure to be a beach babe come your Jamaica trip!!!

Well gals, I'm gonna say adieu for the night. I wasn't able to get my recipes posted, hopefully tomorrow some time. I will be gone all morning til early afternoon, so if I don't get to post in the am, I will do so when I get home.

Have a wonderful evening everyone!!!

Hey all!!! Let me just begin by saying that FLORIDA IS WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, RELAXING, AND JUST PRETTY DARNED GREAT!!! We really are having such fun. And the weather couldn't have been any better today. Spent the majority of the day at Busch Gardens (do you know they give you FREE BEER there???) and had so much fun. DH is high as a kite from getting to ride every single coaster. It's a very good vacation.

But I miss you all terribly. I feel out of the loop. It's amazing what things I see that bring you all to mind. See a CT license plate and think of VIV. Catch somebody sporting a college T-shirt and think of all the loyal SEC gals.

CHERI, your "little people" are so darling. What a sweet, sweet picture.

DEB, way to go on the smash. I am proud of you. I've had four and they are NO BIG DEAL. The worst part is waiting for the free and clear report.

I don't have time to read all your posts and I feel "icky" because of that. It's time to come clean . . . I am not OP. Have had just about everything that I took a stand against when committing to SB. (Come on, Barb, give me a talking to . . . I need and deserve it.) Tomorrow is another day and I will tell you all now that I am sticking to program. That's my promise. My stomach is kind of illin' tonight because it's not used to having the illegal stuff.

Well, I feel somewhat better for the spilling my "sins" to all of you. But am still aggravated for not being strong and looking extra to find the legal stuff. Keep your fingers crossed that I can get back on track. I KNOW THIS IS THE RIGHT WOE, so what's the big deal. One day of falling off and feeling sick is all the proof I need.

We were winging our way here on WIW, so I have nothing to report.

Take care, friends.
Kim
Cincinnati where????

P.S. ORANGE, I appreciate you giving me an excuse for being off the board. Too kind and gracious, my dear. Really looking forward to Saturday.

P.S. Again. I am so mad at Survivor!!!! Why must Jeff go and evil jerry (she doesn't even deserve to have her name capitalized!!) stay. I'm ready to bag the whole thing.

Hi all-
Not much to report. Just wanted to check in. I did go to the help section here and clicked on edit profile. Wow! Lots and lots of choices! You should all go check it out.

Deb...Glad you had some chocolate!! That's the first step to maintaining...trying new things.

Question on oatmeal...is it okay to have everyday? Is it a potential abuse food? It turned out just fine when I made it the night before and then zapped it in the microwave in the AM. I'd love to have it every day but I'm afraid of the effects. I can't wait to try the Irish oatmeal as BOB suggested.

I'm feeling a bit funky. I was down and then went back up about a pound and a half. Thank goodness everyone here has shared their similar experiences so I know it happens! I'm just plugging away..day by day. I'm STILL waiting for the results of my cholesterol test. The doctor's office said they never received it and the lab said they hand delivered it. The medical profession is a scary thing ladies. It is frightening how INEFFICIENT medical offices can be. I have so many stories but I'll spare you all. BOB...you process claims for medical insurance...is that correct?? Someone here does. I can imagine the stories you have to tell.

I'm off for now. Good night all!
Ashley

PS Frog Lover.. thanks for the pic! You don't look mad at all!

Hi all! I tried doing the word pad thing and I could not paste to here!!!!!! Really frustrating!!! Not sure what I did wrong.

Deb: I sent the post to you as I thought you might be able to re post, if not, Iam sorry for bothering you!

Felisse: Welcome

MelG: Welcome

Everyone Else: Stay warm and take care ! Annette

This is the post Annette intended to get on the board
Liz: I am sorry, i just got you and Viv mixed up for a minute. She is the one with the secret - which I am going to blab any second! She is just being modest! It sounds like you are really devoted to bfl. I am going to check out the websites. I just made arrangements yesterday to work out 3 days per week at my physical rehabilitation place. They will help me and they say I can do it during lunch hour. We shall see!
Lately, all I have been doing is riding my recumbant bike which does not take much effort.

Deb: that dressing sounds wonderful - I love feta! I will check out the publix next time I go there! Glad to hear that you survived your booby smashing! I haven't started those yet, but probably should. I am 37 and know that this is around when you are supposed to get your baseline. You know what I really hate is when you are getting your pap and your doctor (mine is male) tries to have eye contact when he is talking to you with his arm up your wazoooo! I like my gyno but hate when he does that!!!

Viv: you need to hit the tanning bed! I agree with Liz, it sounds like you have the winter depression. You have been reporting being grouchy a lot lately. The tanning bed will increase the serotonin in your brain and will help you be happier! I don't believe in using tanning beds to get tan, but for the purpose of sushine to make you happier, I am all for it. My brother who lives in Pa goes about 1x per week or else he gets really depressed all winter.

Fellise: You Go Girl! Geez, what will power you have demonstrated for all of us. Tell that "friend" of yours to find someone else to eat with. She is probably one of those 10000 mph metobolism people, isn't she. I hate those people! They all think we eat so much or we wouldn't be over weight and always sabotage us heavier gals! Ok, enough of my bandwagon! Tee Hee

Kim: Have you guys been hit with that big snow storm?

Karen: Congrats on the 2 pounds. I think you are one of the few this week! Lucky you! Thanks for the filtering instructions. I will try that. I get a lot of mortgage stuff and even porn stuff!!! I am not sure what chat my husband has been in to start that up... Tee Hee... Oh, well, boys will be boys, right! But anyway, I will try that out! Thanks again

Rhoo: Thanks for the instructions on word pad and tiling. I am doing it now and seems to be the way to go! I got a phone call and could take that and not worry about everything going away! Thanks

Overcome: What a great dilemna to be in! I would love to be wondering what I will do when I hit my goal. I am still in the wondering if I will ever hit my goal.... Lucky you! Great Job!

Bob: Tee Hee! congrats on your 2.7 pounds! Good job, but you know guys always lose quicker! LOL That irish oatmeal sounds good! I will have to check it out.

MelG - WELCOME and come on in and be a part of this great group of LOSERS!!

Melf - glad I cracked you up! I use the carb solutions just as a snack - only about 1/4 of a bar. I am not sure if they are legal or not. There is something about the glycerin in them that some people don't like. Anybody out there know what that is?

Connie: Hello there!

Cheri: Oh my goodness, what beautiful children! You must be proud! My hubby is from Michigan, so we go up there occassionally. I bet it was cold!

got a question for everyone. Are any of you on GlucosamineChondroitin? I was prior to sb and it really helped the arthritis in my feet. But, when I found out Glucosamine spikes insulin, I went off of it. My doctor and I discussed it and he wants me back on it as the feet have started getting swollen again, etc. He says there is not enough sugar in them to matter. I am in a quandry as I know that weight loss would be the best thing for my feet, but that the GC really did help a lot. So, are any of you using it and still losing? Any info anyone has would be appreciated... Annette

Hi friends,

Well, I'm a bit bummed, but not too surprised that I'm up 2 pounds. While I was away I ate too much salt on my food and drank too many diet colas. Now I'm puffy and retaining water. I don't think I had four glasses of water the whole four days.

I finally got a VCR. When I moved from Michigan I sold everything I had and so now I'm gradually buying the things I need. Anyway, now I can start "Sweating to the Oldies" and Taebo. Maybe that'll help to get things moving.

Welcome newbies, and hope you all in Florida have a great time. Wish we could all be there.

I found a great websithe!

On this site you can discover the right type of exercise or sport for you based on your age, attention span, schedule, strength, willingness to take physical risks, time investment, where you prefer to exercise, sports you enjoy watching, amount of money you want to unload to get started in a sport, and whether you prefer solitary or group exercisers.

You can access an informational database on a wide variety of sports, get training tips, read really great exercise excuses, and "ask the expert" those burning questions.

Go to: www.womenssportsfoundation.org/templates/index.html
to check it out for yourself!

And that's your Fitness Friday report for March 9, 2001. Good Day!

STARCHASER - WELCOME!! You have definately found the right place to stay motivated. In the couple of short weeks I have been here, everyone has been so friendly and kind to me. As far as your reaching your goal. Set little goals for yourself to start. Say that you are going to lose 20 pounds and when you reach that goal you will feel good and set another 20 pound goals. You CAN DO IT!!!

BIG ORANGE - Here I am!!!!

FROG LOVER - Welcome!! I am Kim and I am new to SB.

QUILTER - Enjoy a little FL sun for me.

Well, as for me, this morning I am still holding steady at 171. It has been a week since my 6 pounds lost and I have not lost anything. I suppose I shouldn't get discouraged but cannot help it. I think, what am I doing wrong. I PROMISE to get those Dandeline pills today. Maybe that is the problem!!

Have a GREAT weekend everyone!!

Fitness Friday???? I guess I'll have to motivate myself to go to the gym this morning!

Satrchaser--welcome to the board. I'm new to the board too, having been on for just a week. I also have a lot of weight to lose. When I began SB I weighed in at 300 lbs and the thought of losing 150 lbs just boggled the mind. So I set small goals and concentrate on reaching them. First 10 lbs, then 20. When I lost 30 and realized that I'd lost 10% of my body weight, I felt like I'd achieved my first significant milestone. :D Now I tend to think in term of 30 lb chunks (though I'm not too far away from 50 lbs--which will be 1/3 of the total weight I want to lose--that will be another significant milestone). I hope you will give it a try and stay with it. There are other benefits as well. Even when the scale doesn't move down as quickly as I'd like it too, I do keep losing inches--especially in the hips. And I just feel so much better! This board is great for encouragement--so you will have all of us supporting you!

I'm going to stop here before my systems times me out. I hope everyone else has a great day!

Fillese - I am originally from Columbus, GA and have been an Auburn fan since high school. Many of my friends went there and I spent a lot of time there. My aunt and uncle used to live in Opelika. Having you on the board is like having someone from home. :D

As far as the hips go, I refer to them as my upper butt, my butt is actually my lower butt! I am waiting for that upper butt to get smaller too. I was beginning to think that it wouldn't but it is! Hang in there!

Cheriann, awe shaaaaaaa...they're so cute! Congrads on the new bebe. Aren't grandchildren the BEST! I have 4, all boys. Hope you get to see yours often!

VIV, we all get in that mood once in a while, & being shut up in that cold weather doesn't help, I'm sure. Hope you have wonderful Spring  weather during your vacation. Hang in there.

Frog, great that you're losing again. I've been at a stand still too, & have finally started to lose again. Feels good, doesn't it? I hear you about not being able to leave the house in the 10's & 12's... :D Our profile is simular. We are about the same in weight, started at 193 & now at 163-165 here. Will be waiting to see a more recent picture with a smile on your pretty face!

amseraphim, glad to hear that you've found the right road back to us. :D
You should look fine for that trip to Jamaica by October the way you're losing

BOB & DEBBIE..hope you'll have a WONDERFUL get-together with KIM tomorrow. After hearing the reunion you'll had with other SBers last month, I'm sure you will all 3 make it fun.

Debbie, you finally had some of that chocholate? I admire your will power to let it sit there all this time & not touching it. I had posted about the Carb Solution Bars, have you heard of them? That's the brand name & I learned about them in Natural Health Magazine. I found them at WalMart. They also make the powder for shakes. I've tried that too for an afternoon pickup. It seems to be SB legal & tastes pretty good. Lots of protein, only 4 carbs to a shake, 2 in a bar & sure did help curb my appetite, holding me till I get home on those long shifts. Had some for breakfast the other morning when & was running late for work & it held me till lunch! I am losing again. This am, the scale said 163, but I won't count it officially until WIW if it stays the same. Hopefully it will :D

Rosalie, Thanks, I did it..that's a really neat trick, now if I can undo the tile, LOL. Glad to hear that your weight is back down & feeling up to par again.

StarChaser...don't apologize for the ramble, hey we all need to be heard, & we sure want to hear what you have to say. So glad you found this board. We're all fighting the same battle here in that we are all overweight & need outside support to stick to the plan. Stick with it & also stick with us. This board is great & the ladies here are all supportive. I have been on SB about 2 years off & on & still need help with it, but don't give up. It's worth it. Most of all, YOU are worth it. Hey, we're almost neighbors! I'm just southwest of Lafayette.

Christian, nice to hear from you. Don't be a stranger girl!

Quilter, so glad to hear that you're having a great time! Don't beat yourself up too bad for falling off the SB wagon for a day. Just get back on it so that you can feel great for your get-together with Debbie & BOB tomorrow!

OVERCOME, yes, you're right about the medical profession being scarey, even for those of us that are in it. I work in a small hospital nearby & have been a nurse for 18 years. It keeps me on my toes. We are not perfect, we make mistakes, but we give it our BEST. At least, that's my attitude about my profession. I LOVE nursing. It is what I was born to do. There are days I wonder why, but not to often

didjaever..don't give up girl, that 6 lb loss was a fabulous start, but even if you stay as is for a couple of weeks, stick with it & you'll lose again.

Fillise, your motavation & so many others on this board keeps us all going. Thanks

Well got to go do some house work since it's my day off. The weather has turned again, rain stopped, but the temperatures dropping & the wind is up, so I don't guess I'll get to walk today. Check in with all you chicks later.

Hey Ladies,

WOW, I'm overwhelmed with the response from all of you. THANK YOU....THANK YOU...THANK YOU!

Thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement I've received in just one day. You'll never know what it means to me.

I really needed this!

Hello!
Another snow day here in NE PA. Hubby and I are off to Philadelphia to see a concert at the Electric Factory and then shopping on Sat. I'm not coming back without agave nectar!!!! We will def. go to a HFS.

Melf...I don't think I knew you were a nurse. I hope you weren't offended by my comment. It certainly wasn't directed at nurses. I feel all the paperwork and insurance is what is so screwy. Not the actual practice of doctors and nurses (well, some doctors could use a kick in the pants :) ) Do you understand? For example, why do I have to call the dr. office and tell them they received payment from my primary insurance and now they need to submit it to my secondary insurance? Then I get the response "oh i see you do have secondary insurance....yes we should send that in". I could go on and on and on. But I won't :)

Hope Quilter Debelli and BigOrange have a great day!! I'm sure you'll have lots of fun!! :)

I'm off for now.

Ashley, no offensive taken here....I could tell you a few of my encounters with medical staff as well... :o But we're all human & some days it seems like the whole world is against us. Not referring to your comment. but I'm sure you must have days like that too. I think VIV would agree the way that she has been feeling as of late :D

See ya'll later..I sure am enjoying being able to read & post again :D

Well, in honor of my no weight lose week I went out and celebrated with a bowl of regular pasta. Oh why do we do these things to ourself......UGHHHH....Now I am mad!!

UGH....

Now I'm the one in a crappy mood...too much work, too little time...this doggone Ohio weather (more snow to shovel)...my cases are all at a standstill, which means they'll all hit at once...and to top it off, I was definitely NOT OP last night. I ate pizza 'cause I was too tired to cook & let DH talk me into going out. Didn't take much in the way of persuasion!

But I forced myself to work out this morning just to get my body moving, and DH & I will go again tonight for a real workout, so I guess that's enough penance. I did step on the scale (naughty me) and no gain shows, so maybe I sneaked this one by the Cheat Police...

Hope my weekend gets off on a better note... :( And I'll take some cheese to go with my vintage whine....

Where'd the smilies menu go?

Happy Friday everyone!

Nothing new here, just checking in.

Didjaever - just to let you know, I lost about 5 lbs my first week and then maybe 1 in the second week. I think it's just your body adjusting and realizing something different is happening. Stick to it and it will start to drop away. Come back to the boards whenever you need encouragement, and don't worry about temporary setbacks. If you had pasta with protein and some food with fiber, it may not set you back at all. The important thing is that your temporary lapse is over with and you are right back OP. Don't wait until tomorrow! You can do it!!

Hi everyone :)

So far I have been thwarted in my aim to exercise to-day. I started the 2 Mile Walk video this morning then was interrupted with a phone call. Then I had to rush to have breakfast and get out to run some errands. This afternoon I had plans to play badminton. I got to the recreation centre to be told it was cancelled to-day because the kids are off school. So I should get my butt of this chair as soon as I have finished this post and get moving . Maybe I can get the 2 Mile Walk in before supper.

Starchaser, welcome to the board. There's a great group of gals here. You'll get lots of support and if you have any questions someone is sure to have an answer for you. I agree with others that it is much easier to think of losing in small increments. If you aim for the total amount you want to lose then it seems unattainable. But we know it CAN BE DONE.

Frog, I'm glad to hear you are losing again. I know it can be very trying to be on these plateaux. I seem to be on one forever. It's good to see your picture. Now waiting for the 'skinny' one. Don't worry about not smiling, it looks great as it is. Thanks for the Friday Fitness info. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Amseraphim, glad you found us again. Congrats on reaching 130. I am sure you will be looking very good for your trip to Jamaica in October. Sounds like you are doing well with the TM.

Debbie, Glad you enjoyed your ONE piece of chocolate. Oh, what willpower!

Quilter, Sounds like you are having a wonderful holiday. I wouldn't worry about being off plan for one day. You know you can get right back on the wagon again. We all have slips once in a while.

Overcome, I don't think there is any reason why you can't have oatmeal every day, as long as you count it as one of the starchy carbs for the day. This is just my opinion. Others might think differently.

Annette2, How did you try the copy and paste from Wordpad? One way to do it is go to the top of the screen and click on EDIT, choose SELECT ALL, then bring the cursor down to the document and right click on the blue area. Click on COPY then go to the bottom of the message board and click on NEW REPLY to get to the posting screen and place the cursor in the message area, right click then click on PASTE and your message should appear. Hope this works for you.

Cheri, I'm sure you will lose those 2 lbs when you get back to your regular routine and get working on "Sweating to the Oldies". That will give you a good workout.

Didjaever, You had a really good start to this woe, I wouldn't worry about not losing in a week. It will come off if you stay OP. Are you drinking lots of water? I don't know anything about dandelion pills but water is the best diuretic.

Melf, to undo the tile you do the same as when you selected it. Right click at the bottom of the screen and choose UNDO TILE.

Have a good weekend everyone and Deb, BigO enjoy your visit with Kim.

Bye.

Marie :)

Well, I have been such an obedient board member. I finally got around to posting my bio, updating my profile, and doing all kinds of housekeeping things that I've been too lazy and too busy to get to. So now I can post knowing that Debbie will be happy with me!! Right Deb?

Starchaser--I was so happy to see another SEC fan on the board. So we can encourage each other and also cheer on the SEC teams at the same time. So, you live in Red Stick! I've been there several times to watch the Gators play the Tigers. I was there when the LSU fans tore down the goal posts when y'all beat us. It was a sight! We've sampled some of the grub outside the stadium at the tailgate parties. Yum. I think the tailtgating and traveling in the fall during football season is what did me in for staying thin.

How did LSU do in the BBall tourney in Nashville. The Gators play tonight. We, of course, are pulling for them, big time. We even drive up to Gainesville for basketball games, but not as regularly as football games.

Hang in there regarding your wieght. Set reachable goals. Say, go for 300, which is 25 lbs. That's reachable. Then 275 which is really good! Then 225, which is in the low 200's. Then try to break 200 and get into the 100's. Set a goal date. For example, next year at this time set a oal of 50 pounds lost and then see if you can even break that goal. You can do it!

Quilter, I hope you are having a great time in Fla. It is wonderful down here. It gets a little crowded with tourists, and I can remember when the beaches were not crowded. I actually lived my first year in an un-airconditioned dorm in college. Lots of people did not have AC then and so FLA was not as crowded as it is now. And Disney brought even more people down. But the weather is great. My DH and I often say, "Ho hum. Another day in paradise."

Well, I finished my dress and it looks great. White raw silk dress with a bright red, short sleeved jacket. Now I'm ready to start another dress with some gorgeous material in deep teal. A flowing rayon that just lends itself to be a shirtwaist with a full skirt. I hope it will turn out as well as the first one.

Big Orange--glad to hear about the weight loss. Keep it up, girl! I hope y'all don't get any rain while Quilter is there.

We're off to Gainesville with friends. Will spend the day there and watch basketball games together.

Y'all take care and have a great weekend.

Evening All!:D

Had a busy day out today, but home now and ready to strip and throw on my comfey nightie:smug:

Sharon & I discovered a new chocolate at WHOLE FOODS today. It's in these massive bars that WF cuts up and wraps in cellophane. Anyhow, it's by EL REY and they have a dark chocolate that is 73.5% cocoa content. I tried a tiny sliver and it was good. After last night, I really haven't had the desire to have the chocolate again, which is good!!!

I am still the same weight:mad: but I'm almost mid-cycle and that may have something to do with it. Ever since I got sick, my body has just been doing the funky monkey!!

QUILTER, glad you were able to get on the board. I guess the great weather Narda and I ordered for you has made you happy. Hoping tomorrow's weather is nice as well. Looking forward to it!!!! Ummm, so you are going to be on plan tomorrow, huh?? LOL, does that mean I don't have to be the diet police???

OVERCOME, I don't see why you couldn't have oatmeal on a daily basis, well, you may get sick of it, but don't see what harm it can do in eating it daily. If you see a change, then just cut back on it. I would tell you to try and put some wheat germ, maybe some sunflower seeds or almonds in it, just to give it different tastes/textures, and to keep it from getting monotonous. Don't worry about that small gain, I'm right there with you on that one!!! It will go back down, you can be rest assured. What concert are you going to hear?? Good luck with finding the agave!!!! Hope you find some other goodies as well.

ANNETTE, I'll be happy to post you post for you-I can stick it into one of your other posts-how about that. I'm sorry I didn't respond to your e-mail, my time of the computer has been little lately and just haven't had time to respond to e-mails. I was told that your baseline boobie smashing should be done at around 35, so I'm a wee bit late on doing that, but at least I went!!! As for the Glucosamine, I would say, if your Dr. thinks it would help, use it, and don't worry about the little sugar it has, your health and feeling better is more important!!!

CHERI, don't worry about being up, you are in good company. Probably your body is just reacting to different things, and you gain is NOT from fat. I too have been lax on drinking water, some days it just won't go down-and others, I have no problem. It does make a big difference though.

FROG, how appropriate to have Kermy on your posts!!! Thanks for posting that site, I am going to check it out after I finish posting.

DIDJA, don't worry about the scale not going down, a 6 pound loss the first week is great, and most likely, your body is just adjusting. BUT, you must remember, you haven't been 100% on plan:s: It's not to get you discouraged in me saying that, please, I hope you don't think that, but this may hamper your losses later on. If you journal your foods that you eat, you will see where you need to try and improve. It's really important, moreso at the beginning to get all the non-SB foods out of your system and let your body adjust to not having these sugars and refined foods. You'll be fine:) BTW, I love FRESH FIELDS, when we go to my cousins in Maryland, we hit that place a few times!!

FILLISE, you must feel great on the small goals you've acheived! Those were great words of encouragment you gave to STAR, we all benefit from reading them.

MELF, I have heard about the Carb Solutions bars, but have never tried them. There are a lot of bars out there. I don't think they are good as a regular daily thing, but in cases of emergency when there's nothing around, they are okay. I haven't checked the ingredients on those particular bards, but if you find them to be SB legal, than once in a while, I can't see them hurting. Honestly, I don't know a thing about the shakes. That's great about the scale going down-I hope I follow suit soon!!!

VIV, I went to the HFS today and they don't carry the carob powder covered nuts where I go, only cocoa covered. The only carob ones I found looked like milk chocolate-will keep on looking!

MSLIZ, got the BFL book at the library today, going to look it over this weekend, may ask some questions if I have any, hope you don't mind.

ROSALIE, looks like you had good intentions to exercise today, that says something!! :)

GATOR, yep, I'm proud of you for getting those things accomplished today! "Seams" you are really quite a seamstress these days-I got a hole in a pair of pants today, it's a big undertaking for me to sew the hole up, I can't imagine making a dress!

RHROO, wish I could send you and the other snowbirds some of our gorgeous weather. Just remember, spring is just around the corner!!!!!

Well ladies, I doubt I will get back on here later tonight, though I will try, and tomorrow we are leaving early, so I may not be able to get on then either, just depends on my timing. I will give a hug to QUILTER & BIGO for everyone when I see them tomorrow, and I will take pics! Trust me, I'm sure we will be chatting about all of you during the day-your ears should be burning tomorrow!!! I figure we'll get home around 9:30-10:00pm tomorrow night-long day, but really looking forward to it!!!!

Toodles!

Hi Ladies! I am glad to see that everyone is still alive, althogh I have been in a huge hole for the past few weeks. I will admit that afdter finding out I was pg, I have gone outta my mind, and off the woe! YIKES!!! I don't dare get on the scales, but I can definatly feel it in my waist! I go to the OB on tuesday,a dn I dont think she will have a problem with me being on SB. I don't actually want to loose but I sure as heck don't want to gain a ton!

Anyhow, the board sure looks different. I guess it takes some getting used to.

GOOD TO SEE EVERYONE ON THE BOARD~~~~

BOY, this will take me awhile to answer all these posts.
There were none to speak of for a few days, then it looks like YOU ALL GOT YOUR SECOND WIND!

WHERE ARE ALL THOSE AUBURN FANS????? I've got to
toot my horn....GO BIG ORANGE.....For those of you who DON'T FOLLOW SEC SPORTS.....TENNESSEE BEAT AUBURN in the tourny :smoking: YES, I know it was only the first game of the series, but HOPEFULLY, they can get to the NCAA TOURNY.....

Ashley: Yes, it's me who messes in the insurance...I do all the precerts/authorizations and referrals at the hospital where I work. AND YES, not to put anyones professions down, BUT IT'S LIKE PULLING TEETH trying to get some of these Drs offices to comply!!!

Cheri: SALT WILL DO IT EVERY TIME!!!

FROG: Great to see you back, and congrats on the "startup" on the weight loss..We'll do it...

SUSAN: Great inspiration to Star Chaser...Keep it up, you can be the motivator!!!

Starchaser: We're a supportive bunch by nature. You'll get it every time when you come in here!

VIV: I can feel that mood changing...just a little while longer...the FLA sun will get you back to you old self in no time.

MSLiz & Didjaever: CLIMB RIGHT BACK UP ON THAT WAGON....be sure to wipe the grease off your hands before you try!!

Cynsea: I don't think your DR will have a problem. This is a HEALTHY WOE...good luck....

ALL OF YOU PEOPLE IN THE SNOW??? KEEP WARM AND DRY...It's raining here tonight...WE NEED IT, but I sure want it to be pretty tomorrow. WISH YOU ALL COULD BE WITH US....

OK, It was Fitness Friday so I went to the gym and did 33 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the lifecycle. Thanks for the motivation! It felt good to be back in the gym. I always dread going, but when I get there I actually enjoy it! Go figure. :?:

Frog: WAR EAGLE!!!!!! I teach at the University so I literally live, eat, and breathe Auburn. I'm originally from NC--Wilmington. Thanks for the fitness tip--I actually went to the gym today, which is always a victory.

Big Orange Babe: WAR EAGLE!!!!! I can't help it if all the wrong teams are winning in the tournament. At least football season began today!

Debbie: I know what you mean about the chocolate. I've always been a serious choco-holic. I too have bars of the "legal" stuff stashed away in case of emergency. I almost never touch it. When a do a little is very satisfying. I won't go into the ugly chocolate pie incident the year I gave chocolate up for lent. Let's just way that the secratary from the office upstairs was not seriously injured.

Viv: I really hope your bad mood lifts soon. It sounds like a pretty bad case of cabin fever and other things. Hang in there--spring will come!

Everyone else--it's great reading your stories. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

While I'm doing this I'm also chatting on ICQ with my 8 year-old niece. What a treat!

Well, after another 8 inches of the white evil stuff from the sky, I managed to get to hockey practice....afterwards I was so starved that I had two skinny pieces of very thin crust pizza from the boys' and DH's pie.....I had to - if it were that icky thick crust stuff (remember, I am from NYC!) I would have managed to stay away - but this thin crust stuff is soooooo awesome. I would say that is my first major screwup in 5 weeks. Forgive me!!!!!!

So I am still grouchy but reading all theposts and they make me happy.

I hope you (also) forigve me for not doing individual responses as I usually do these past few days. I'm jsut so overloaded. Hockey season is coming to an end and I am coordinating endof season activities (I manage my 10 yo DS's team) as well as coach and division admin gifts....I hate collecting money (checks are good, tho!). So I am just tired. That and trying to pack, etc. I am just plain wiped. Plus, I got a few items backon Ebay to sell (motivation was Disney tix!) and that is time consuming too.....

So, enough kvetching. Everyone keep up the SB Spirit and IS ANYONE ELSE DEPRESSED THAT JEFF GOT VOTED OFF ON SURVIVOR? WHO ELSE BESIDES QUILTER KIM WATCHES??? I am so addicted!!!

Yo'd think I was the ONLY person to ever take a vacation . . . the way I'm going on so. Ha! But we are having such a beautiful time. This day's eating was much better, but I did over indulge with the wine a bit tonight with dinner. It was the salmon at the Outback again. You just can't go wrong with that.

Anyways, tomorrow is the big SB get together. Can't wait. It's going to be FAB!!!!

Thanks for all the reassurance that this is just vacation mode for me and that I am truly a SB for LIFE!!! I appreciate all your encouragement. GATOR . . . I hear you saying another day in paradise and I want to be part of it EVERY day. But I do get the traffic and overcrowding thing. Yuck! The traffic is MUCH too much.

Talk to you all later. Am even anxious to get back home and into the normal lifestyle where I can really read all the posts. I feel like I'm ignoring the newbies. (I'llget with you all later, promise.)

VIV---hang in there girl!!! Your time is just about here. It will be wonderful and all the "white stuff" hanging around your house will be a distant memory.

Take care, gals!! Let's me 100% legal tomorrow.

Hey! I woke up even crankier because I succumbed (though moderately) to the pizza monster last nite. So I started searching on the web to see if I could assuage my guilt. I came upon this - it was interesting, from the Pizza Marketing Quarterly or something like that. It was an analysis on how pizza places could make their pizzass more diet friendly to the top 10 diets and make more money! This is the response to the SB diet:

To create a pizza that satisfies the Sugar Busters diet, apply these 10 easy guidelines.

1 Eliminate or virtually eliminate all forms of sugar, including honey and syrup, from dough and sauce recipes. However, if you're using a ******ed dough-one that's refrigerated for at least 24 hours before using-you could add one-half percent sugar based on flour weight without causing a problem, because the yeast would likely consume the sugar within that time.
2 Keep oil and fat to a minimum-no more than 3 percent in the dough, based on flour weight. Use little or none in the sauce.

3 When oil is used, use olive oil. If you want to incorporate olive flavor into a recipe, use virgin or extra virgin oil; if you don't want the olive flavor, use "extra light" olive oil. (Canola oil can be substituted for olive oil in this diet.)

4 Make the crust thin to medium-thick. For a 12-inch pizza, that would be a dough ball in the 10-to-12 ounce range.

5 For sauce, use whatever portion amount of tomato-based sauce gives the best flavor.

6 For cheese, use a medium portion-say, six ounces for a 12-inch pizza-of a moderately low fat cheese, such as low-moisture, part-skim mozzarella or something similar. If you wish, experiment with a 50:50 blend of low-moisture, part-skim mozzarella and no-fat mozzarella.

7 Use lean meats for meat toppings-ham, chicken, and lean ground beef would qualify; typical pepperoni and Italian sausage would not.

8 All typical pizza veggies qualify-tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers.

9 For the dough, use a stone ground flour, which has a larger starch particle than that of standard flour. You'll likely need to special order this.

10 Use 100% whole wheat flour, which is flour that includes the bran layer of the wheat grain. (Specifically, we recommend stone ground whole white wheat flour, for reasons explained below.)

The only "problem" is with guideline #10, because, as you may know, a bread product made with 100% whole wheat flour can have an excessively dark color and a somewhat bitter flavor. This is caused by the tannins in the bran layer.

However, Tom Lehman of the American Institute of Baking suggests an easy, great solution: Use flour made from white wheat as opposed to red wheat.

In other words, use stone ground whole white wheat flour. If that sounds perplexing, allow me to explain. Wheat comes in different strains. Traditional flour, of the type used in standard white bread and pizza crust, comes from a strain known as red wheat. It’s called that because the wheat grain is reddish-brown color. What makes it that color is the brown-colored tannins in the bran layer. White wheat, on the other hand, is a strain of wheat that has a lighter color, hence the name white wheat. The reason that it has a lighter color is that the bran layer contains a smaller amount of tannins than does the bran layer of red wheat. As a result, whole wheat flour made from white wheat has none of the bitter flavor associated with whole wheat flour made from red wheat. It also has a lighter color.

To obtain a source for stone ground whole white wheat flour, contact the American White Wheat Producers Association (AWWPA): 913-367-4422. Be sure to specify stone ground, as opposed to roller milled.

I decided to test the product before suggesting it. So I procured a sample of stone ground whole white wheat flour from the AWWPA and mixed a couple small dough batches. I found that the flour required an unusually high amount of water for proper consistency. After expanding my recipe to large-volume size, here’s the result:

Pizza Dough with 100% Stone Ground Whole White Wheat Flour
25 lb Stone ground whole white wheat flour
15 lb-12 oz Water(63%)
8 oz Salt (2%)
12 oz Extra light olive oil (3%)
As needed Yeast

I suggest mixing the dough by your current method and, at least initially, using the same type and amount of yeast. Increase or decrease the water amount to increase or decrease dough softness. Increase or decrease yeast level and water temperature to increase or decrease fermentation rate, or amount of rise. When baked, I found the product to have a rich, pleasing, nutty-like flavor what one sampler called a "healthy bread" taste. In short, I found no reason why this crust shouldn’t appeal to dieters, especially those on the Sugar Busters Plan.

Now if we could only get some pizza makers to do it. I still feel guilty about my skinny slices. Oh well.

Quilter - Glad you're having fun in the sun. Yep, the traffic in FLA always reminds me of NYC!

Hi all, I am gearing up and ready to start. Somewhere, I saw a list of specific brands of different breads and other foods that were good for this WOE. I can't find it to save my self........ anyone know where or anyone have suggestions of their own????

I am going to purchase new walking tennies today. and I am stocking up on good water.

I need major meal suggestions of daily menus.

Is it possible to not gainweight while pregnant on this woe???? I would be happy to give some excess to the baby ;D actually I'd even be happy to gain for it, but the other option sounds even better as long as its safe!

anyway I am happy to have found you all andlook forward to meeting you and getting to know you.

OK, I think I overdid it at the gym yesterday--can you say stiff knees and back this morning? :dz:

Last night while talking to my niece on ICQ she was asking me about my diet--she seemed to think that life without pizza was one not worth living (Viv--you know what she means :D ) This is a kid who eats nothing but bread and sugar--in fact she is the anti-sugarbuster  ! But then she informed me that she has given up bread for Lent, and the reason is that it turns to sugar once you eat it. I don't know who told here that(it wasn't me). Anyway the kid doesn't have an ounce of fat on her body (she takes after her mother and not the Eye-talian side of the family). I'm torn--on the one had I'm glad she is learning about nutrition, but on the other, I'm already seeing signs that she worries about her weight and that scares me. I went through most of high school and college thinking I was fat and ate more because that depressed me so much. When I look back at the pictures--I'd kill to have that body again--it was normal!!!!

Viv--Thanks for the pizza tips. I too really really miss it. I've been wondering about how to make it acceptable to this WOE. I'm going to print out your guidelines and take them to a couple of the local pizza places to see if they will try to come up with something. The nice thing about living in a college town is I've got students or former students working in most of the restaurants. Maybe I can talk one of them into giving it a try!

Beccaboots--My favorite brand of bread is the Nature's Own SGWW sugar-free bread. This is what I use for sandwiches and toast. There is a Sugarbusters! Shopping guide that you can buy for about 3-4 dollars that a lot of folks find helpful. I find the best way is to read labels to look for hidden flours, sugars, and starches.

Big Orange Babe--be careful what you wish for come September! Though on the Saturday y'all play Bama, I'll be UT's second big orange babe! :s:

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Quilter--The reason for all the traffic is that everyone from "up north" comes down here in the winter time to thaw out and they clog up our roads. In the summer time it is not so bad! :)

Fillise--Yep, this is the last year the mighty Gators play the AU Tigers for a while. They rotated AU out of our yearly schedule. Too bad. We always made the trip up to Auburn, and stayed at Calloway Gardens for a couple of days, driving over for the game for the day. Loved the trip, and Auburn has a nice campus. Hard to find a good place to park, but a cute town, nevertheless. Guess we'll just have to stomp up on the Tigers this year so they can remember us!!
Now I'm acting like a real Gator. Usually I'm nice and mild and polite. Just ask Big Orange Babe and Debelli.

Sewing another dress. The material was just too beautiful to pass up. Does anyone else have trouble finding really good looking clothes that fit? If they are good looking, they just never seem to fit me right. My arms are not skinny enough!

Kim, Narda, Deb: Y'all have a great time today. Gators are playing Bball right now, and were behind at the half. BOB, my condolences. If the Gators lose today we can cry together. Only 5 months till football season.

Rode my daughters bike around the neighborhood yesterday. Felt good. May try again today.

Take care.

Just checking in. Looks like the board is pretty quiet today.

Gator, sounds like you sew alot. That white satin dress with the red jacket sounds fabulous!

Cynsea, didn't realize you were pg...guess you announced that while I was away. There should be no reason that you can't still follow this WOE, at least watching the sugars. Good luck with your DR visit. Do you know your due date yet?

Star, how's it going with you in our capital city?

Where are Joy & Beach? Haven't seen them on board for a while. :(

The scale is still smiling for me, down another lb today! I"m so excited that it's moving again...an in the right direction! :D

Hope all have a great day! :)

Mission accomplished. I found the agave nectar in Philadelphia. It was at a HFS near South Street...can't remember the name right now.. Something that started with an E (didjaever...I'm sure you'll know the name). It was 2.99 for an 8 oz. bottle. The prices I found online are about the same. I'm so anxious to try it in, what else, COOKIES! I've printed some of the recipes Deb and others posted on the boards. I'm going to make one tonight.

We had a lovely time in Philly. Yes didjaever, we hit Fresh Fields....which I adore. They carry the Whole Foods brand Deb. I bought the same chocolate you did!!! Isn't that funny! Maybe we were buying it at the exact same time :) didjaever....how lucky you are to live near Fresh Fields. They have so many wonderful choices..esp. with their bread products which is always the hardest for me to find. They DID NOT have agave nectar though.

We went to see the groups FUEL and 3 DOORS DOWN. It was a good concert. We ate at a wonderful Italian restuarant...Dante's and Luigi's. I stayed on program(and remember it was Friday so NO MEAT for me) with the exception of one piece of Italian bread. It was one of those small pieces about 3"x1". I dipped it in extra virgin olive oil. Yummy!! I didn't feel bad about it b/c I knew I was only going to eat one and that was that!

For lunch on Saturday, we went to one of my brother's fav Chinese restuarants. I had already decided I was going to have my favorite dish Singapore Noodles. Extremely thin noodles with a great curry seasoning with bits of egg, veggies, and pork...similar to fried rice but with noodles. I don't get to Philly very often so I was prepared to go off program. I had them, they were good (although not as good as at MY fav chinese restaurant). Well....as I'm looking at the food boards look what I found from MICHAEL MONTIGNAC'S BOOK, EAT YOURSELF THIN & is about PASTA: (posted by Debelli)

On the other hand, you can consume the famous Chinese vermicelli, made from soy flour(mungo beans) which we know to naturally have a very low GI. Since it is also extruded and only cooked for a few instants, it is the champion of pastas having a very low GI, (no numbers were given on these).

What a hoot! I actually might have stayed ON PROGRAM without knowing or intending too!! Now I have a headache from the salt and Pete and I had a little tiff so I'm in a sour mood. Just wanted to share my Philly experience with all of you. I'll be back later.

Enjoy the weekend!!

Hi All! Well, it is a great day here in FL!!! It is sunny and there are Harleys everywhere!!! Bike week in Daytona - loud, but fun to watch! I worked today to get caught up on stuff I missed while I was sick, but everyone seems to be having a great time during Bike Week!

Deb: Thanks so much for posting that post for me... I was so pissed after writing all that out and I could not get it to paste. I could select all and cut or copy, but it would not paste onto the reply area! UGGGH!
Great job on the chocolate - one square! what willpower! oh, yeah and I promise to update my profile soon!

Viv: hey girl! You are almost here! only a couple more days, right! Actually, I will be heading toward Erie, PA about the time you are here - not quite sure when that is....

Overcome: Snow days! I miss those believe it or not! I would be skiing if I were you!

Gator: I love Gainesville! Hope you had a great day of Basketball! My hubby was a little upset last night as Penn State beat Mich State and I went to Penn State and he went to Mich State... he tried to act like it was not big deal, but he wanted to be #1!!! Penn State needed the win to be in the NCAA, so he needs to get his priorities straight!!! Hope you have a great day in GatorLand!

Hmmm. Can't back to the thread to look while I type... it says something about it being a long thread... anyone else have this problem?

Oh, yeah and if anyone is on Glucosamine or has any input, please let me know!!!

Gotta go before I get kicked off again!

Fellise: I just had to get back on to say that I relate so much with what you said about how you looked and felt in HS! I was absolutely HOT when I look back at pictures, but all I did was diet and exercise to death and ruined my metabolism.... So, I can definitely relate to your worry about your niece. Unfortunately, the chance of her listening to any adult about this issue is slim... If you actually think she has an eating disorder, that is different though.... Anyway, saw your post after I wrote and wanted to agree with what you said!!!

Hi all -
I have amoment of lucidity which I think is anticipation about going out shopping tonite with a GF, so I thought I'd post!
Staying totally OP today despite feeling guilty about the pizza. Whenit's cold and snowy here I love making homemade tomato sauce, so I did a chicken parmesan (unbreaded) with sauteed spinach with garlic, and sugar snaps sauteed with onions and carrots (ddin't eat the carrots). It was da-lish!

Annette - I am ready! Keep the sun shining for me! I unwrinkled our Mickey ponchos today, just in case!

Overcome - your meals in Philly sound great! I too remember reading that about the noodles, but how can you ever know if that was the kind you ate? I'm going to have to put thsoe on a list for Wild Oats - I wonder about cellophane noodles....aren't those made of rice? Sorry about the tiff with DH, honey I know all about those, LOL!! I was sble to find agave nectar in a coupla HFS's nearby, just keep your eyes peeled for it.

Mary - congart son the 1 lb down. I'm hiding the scale for about a week now, becuase of the pizza yesterday, andtomorro starts TOM....I hate it when the scale doesn't like me, it really slows down my diet.....

Gator - I'm gonna join in clogging up your roads in just 13 days! So get ready! I will be veryhappily doing all that clogging! Seriously, do the tourists annoy you or do you just avoid them when you are a resident? I always wondered - I mean, really those tourist in Bermudas and knee sox can be quite irritating!

Fillise - How old isyour neice? I wish I had had more education about nutrition when I was younger, it would have saved me a lot of grief later on! About pizza, there are some good recip[es for Pizza with WW crust that you can make at home - I think they're on the boards. I haven't tried them but will - also you can do a pita pizza with WW pita - but....sigh...it's just not the same. If I didn't have a pizza eating family it wouldn't be so hard, but Friday nights around here are pizza nite - and any other day Mom just doesn't feel like eating!!!

BTW my older DS Harrison had his last travel hockey game of the season today (still more practices and stuff to come, tho) and it was really fun to watch. They slammed the other team 7-4 - it was great for morale. I lvoe it when the kids high five each other, etc. All the while I was collecting money for coach gifts, etc....multi-tasking as always!!

Becca- someone might have directed you to this site - www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters already - it was a great help to me when I started. Great food lists and recipes, in addition to what's on this site. That should help you a lot. Good luck!

Quilter/Kimmi (in honor of Survivor, geez, I call all the Kims in my life Kimmi!) - glad you are enjoying paradise. Stop clogging up them roads! Hoep you have fun with the girls!

BOB - I am so impressed with how into sports you are. Try as I might to get into spectator sports with my men here, Ijust can't. I'd rather shop or something. I like GOING to games, but locally our teams are minor league and if it's a big trip I let DH do it and bond with the boys. Wish I could get the same fun out of it - YOU GO GIRL!!!

OK, have I been myself enough?> Sorry to those I didn't get to this time.....

More soon,
Hugs,

Hi Everyone:)

Finally checking back in and saying hi! Things are going well for me. I'm staying at 138, eating right, and excercising. I have to tell you that now that I am at my goal weight it is VERY hard to stay motivated. You are not seeing the weight drop so it is like you are always plateaued and stalled. I've had to really make myself excercise. Eating right has not been that hard but I know if I don't keep the excercise up I will regain weight.

Glad to see everyone is doing so well. I will try to be a more regular participant starting next week.

Deb: Did Glory ever get back on the board. She was having a hard time posting the other day on this new board. She said she was hoping you could help her.

Big Orange and Gator: Looks like both of your teams will make the NCAA...mine doesn't have a prayer.

Well have to run. See ya'll later.

EVENING LADIES :D

WE HAD A WONDERFUL DAY!!! YOU ALL WOULD LOVE KIM! SHE'S SO  !!! Her DH is so funny, and we really enjoyed spending the day with them. Kim's niece and her "to be" we with us also, and I HOPE we didn't bore them too much
We made our "all too important" stop at the FRESH MARKET, and I loaded down with everything I love from there. My cooler was "busting" at the seams!
Our dinner was WONDERFUL, and sunset "happened" while we were there. This place sits RIGHT ON THE BEACH, so the view was BEAUTIFUL! In all, our day was enjoyed by all, and we just wish all of you could have been there with us.

VIV: looks like you've found yourself a business! You could make a fortune opening up SB legal pizza parlors all around the country!

BEACH: Good to see you...Unless you know something that I don't (because I have been gone all day), I don't think my team will get to go to NCAA...I hear GATOR's team lost too...I think that puts us in the same boat as AUBURN...oh well, FOOTBALL IS COMING!!! I can smell the pigskin from here!

BECCA: We're so glad you're here, and we will help you all we can thru your pregnancy. I think it will be possible NOT to gain an excessive amount of weight. You will be eating healthy and sounds like you've already decided about the exercise. Get the "shoppers guide" it has a lot in it and is a good $4 investment. I've misplaced mine, or I would give you some examples!

Fillise: We dont play AUBURN...why is beyond me. We used to, and it was a good rival game to look forward to. When they split the conference, it screwed up everything. Everyone in the conference used to play every team. On the "THIRD SATURDAY IN OCTOBER" you'll find me sitting right up on the TV screen..I'm not hard to spot...shakers in both hands! We can always use ONE MORE!!!!

GATOR: GET OUT THAT HANKIE!!! Looks like we'll be drying each others eyes.....
What has put you in such a sewing mood? If you keep this up, you'll have to close in that screened porch just to hang your clothes up!
Missed you today, you would have had a good time!

Mary: Way to go on that loss....I'll be anxious to see if mine goes down this week. We did some walking, but not enough to get DEB back for all that "up and down the hills" walking she put me through in MT DORA!

ASHLEY: Sounds like you had a good time in Philly. I love that place. There is so much to see and do. I'm ready to go back...I didn't get to do everything I wanted to do when I was there.

ANNETTE: that line you're seeing about the thread being too long? Click on "here" and it will bring up the thread in a different window. You can scroll down that way.
I have never been in Daytona during BIKE WEEK...my next door neighbor is there..He was really looking forward to going.
How are your feet?

Well, I'm going to put this tired old butt to bed...

Hi all, it has been such a long time since I posted, so many new names here. I did try to post early in the week but lost it and was just to tired to do it over.

I am glad that fun was had in Naples today. I am really sorry that I missed it, being so close, but I ended up working six hours overtime.

I have been doing well eating right and I have been able, pretty much to exercise-walk- everyday- except for several days this week. I have been running to the hospital, where my mom was admitted on Sunday. She has breathing troubles and this time here heart rate was out of control. She is better and might come home tomorrow.

Well, I hope all is having a wonderful day and staying on track. Laurie

Hey Gang,

I gained a small victory today!!!

I went to my family reunion. Trust me, every activity that goes on in South Louisiana is centered around food. And a food feast at a family reunion here is nearly orgasmic! Just the boudin and shrimp creole alone is enough to make you slap your grandma!!!! And the Mississippi Mud Pie, well I want even go there.

HOWEVER, one week into my new sugarbusters lifestyle, I'm happy to report that I came away today without yeilding to the temptation that was laid before me. Of course, I had to deal with the wrath of the aunt that had made her famous banana pudding "especially for me" But hey, I did what was right for me and I'm extremely proud of myself.

One small victory, but it meant the world to me!

Thanks to all of you, I feel as though I had my team behind me today!

HEY EVERYONE!:D

Just getting ready for my walk, but wanted to get on a very quick post.

Had a WONDERFUL time yesterday!:D KIM (QUILTER) is a DOLL! She is so sweet and very down to earth. You'd all love her! Her DH is like a big teddy bear, very nice. It was good to see NARDA (BIGO) and spend another great day with her. She brought her friend Ann with her, and she too is very sweet, fit right in with all of us crazy people (Sharon & Eli-need I say more?).

It was a day of liesure really, just walked around and went into different specialty shops in the Naples area. Went to dinner early, everything was delicious as always-I personally ate more than I ever had at that restaurant, stayed OP and didn't walk away overly stuffed. As far as everyone elses eating-I plead the fifth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to Fresh Market before we met up with Kim-they had the Lindt 70% chocolate on sale for $1.50 a bar-we all bought some, not to mention a slew of other stuff.

Wish you all could of been with us-one day, I hope the 3FC's site does a convention somewhere (like Vegas), and we can all get together!!!!!!!!!!!

Through all the food I managed to scarf down, I am down 1.5lbs today!!! YIPEE!!!:dizzy:

Gotta run, I mean walk. I'll be back on sometime later today to respond to you all-I missed the board yesterday!!!!

Have a great Sunday!!!

Hello Fellow Losers!!!!

Hope all is well with you and that your weekend has been wonderful.

Let me just say that DEB and ORANGE are SO WONDERFUL!!!!! I just love them both. As you've alreaady read . . . our day in Naples was so nice. We talked a lot about food. (What else???) and just enjoyed being together. So glad we got to be together and spend some time and share a meal.

We won't be leaving this wonderful tropical place until Tuesday. So expect me back on line in my usual manner on Wednesday night. Can't wait to go back and read all the posts I've missed. I see a few newbies who I've not met, so will check out your bios later this week.

Everybody have a great day. Talk to you later.

Hi friends!

Sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days. I had a touch of the flu. Feeling a bit better now.

Gator: Sure wish that I could sew. I have trouble getting clothes to fit right too. I have trouble in the waistline. I have none :(

Overcome: It sounds like you had a wonderful time in Philly. I was only there once. I just flew in on my way to England. It sounds like a great place to visit though.

Annette2: I have never used Glucosamine but a friend of mine says that her mother uses it everyday and swears by it. I have only heard good things about it.

Kim, Deb and Orange: Sounds like you had a wonderful visit. Deb that sounds like a great idea of having a Sugar Busters get together in the future.

Laurie: I'm glad to hear that you are doing ok. I hope that you mother is better soon.

StarChaser: Congratulations on sticking to your SB WOE at your reunion. You go girl!

I came across some information that I wanted to share with you. I know that a few of you are hypothyroid and so this will pertain to you.

If you eat soy products, they will slow down the thyroid even more and your medication will not work as effectively.

I tought of taking soy after my hysterectomy and looked into it. Soy is very good for you, but not if you have a thyroid problem.

Have a great SB day!

Star, We're soooooooo proud of ya!! :D Girl, I know what you mean about food centered here in LA, but you did great & I can just FEEL your excitement for your VICTORY! You Go Girl! We sure ARE behind you. When I'm away from this board I think about everyone & wonder what's going on with each & every one of these gals.

Debbie, A convention of chicks & chicklets, what a wonderful idea! Are you going to organize it??? I'd love to go...LOL

Kim, what a time you all had, from your posts we can tell how very much you enjoyed it. Hope the rest of your vacation is as wonderful.

BOB, will have to check on that Discovery Health thing. We just got cable not too long ago & it's still pretty new to us. We seem to still watch CBS mostly, & of course the TV Guide station...that's our favorite along with the weather channel & Travel channel. Aren't we the adventurous ones!!! LOL

Ashley, did you try some receipes with the Agave Nectar? How did it come out?

Hey you'll, I posted a receipe for LENTIL CHILI on the receipe board. This is a really good receipe. Quick, easy, low fat, low cost & delicous too. It says it serves 4, but I could not eat 1/4 of it...no way. I froze some in containers to bring to work for my lunches. DH really loved it.

Well, got to go... oh, my daughter's appointment is tomorrow am to find out the result of her pap & biopsy. Say a pray for us to get some good news, please.

Annette, I just experienced what you said happened to you when you couldn't copy & paste from WordPad, I selected all under edit & went to paste it into the reply window & it wouldn't do...what happened was that I had not chosen "copy" after "select all" :o ....hehehehe

Just a quick pop-in for reinforcement! I've had a long day and it about to get longer.

I cooked spaghetti for 100 at church today and have to go back for a long meeting tonight. These things are always rough. They begin at 6:00 which is before I usually eat and often last until after 9:00--which is really too late to eat. These are the nights when I am most temped to pick up fast food on the way home because I certainly don't want to cook anything at 9:00. Tonight I'm going to eat before I go, and if I'm hungry when I get home I'll have a few nuts or slices of cheese. What every happened to Sundays being a day of rest??????? :?:

Starchaser--Way to go!!!!! Lot's of small victories like that will make you one big looser!

Gator Gal--I'm guessing when you come to Auburn this fall, we'll have to give you gator folks a sendoff you won't soon forget! Since we don't play UT every year, the Big Orage Babe and I will just have to hope we meet up in Atlanta for the championship!

Annette2--I worry about the messages my nieces are getting about body image. I know they won't listen to me, but I'll keep trying to get through anyway.

Viv--I'm going to try making the pita pizzas this week! Thanks!

I better go so I can set the VCR to tape the Sopranos while I'm gone. That's the show I must watch every week!

Hi All:)

I'm having a hard time learning this new board! How do you look at the post and reply at the same time?

BigOrange: You and Gator both made it to the Big Dance. The great thing about being an Auburn fan is I can get real excited when someone doesn't...Alabama didn't make it...YEAH :D

Fillise: I'm a big AU Fan. We'll have to meet when I come to Auburn sometime. I'm there quite a bit.

Deb: How are you? I know I've been off for awhile but it sounds like you are doing very well. Just be prepared when you hit that goal. It really is like a long plateau. You have to trick yourself into being motivated. I haven't let myself have anything that is really off the plan. I'm too scared I would binge out. I've come close but stopped.

Barbee: Are you out there? Sorry I've been off for awhile but was just thinking of you.

Well I had a good day today. Walked about 4 miles and kept the food intake down to about 2000 calories. I've been trying to keep the intake between 1900 and 2100. I'm averaging 1950 and have been able to stay a good weight since then.

Gotta run:

Well, Big Orange, I guess you were the one that bought all the chocolate. :) I'm just guessing, but Deb said y'all found some 70% chocolate and bought!!
Yes, I was crying a little, but it may be a blessing in disguise. The Gators need a little rest before playing in the NCAA tourney next weekend. They already own a share of the regular season championship, sharing with KY. I'm really hoping they do as well, even better, than last year. Of course, that was phenominal!!

Annette--I saw where Penn State beat Mich. State in some basketball game, maybe for the conference tournament. Isn't that your hubby's team that you always want Penn State to beat?

I've been sewing because I just got tired of having to wear "old stuff" that had no style or pizzazz. So now I have a great white raw silk dress, with an A-line skirt and a tomato red short sleeved jacket that goes with it. It looks great and the color is perfect. I wore it today and actually got some good remarks.

Let's see. Who was it that just fixed dinner for 100 at church? I can identify with that!! It seems like the food resistance problem is always the greatest at "religious" events. Something is wrong here. That should be when it is the easiest. I always have my greatest trouble at church events. So, my sympathies and thoughts are with you.
