Default Since I posted that thread about the plateau, now I'm paranoid..

I'm freaking out now about the plateau thing. I know it's gonna happen..but when I does, I'll have no idea how to work through it..

It won't necessarily happen -- I've been on weight-loss regimens several times in my life and never plateaued. If you do plateau, just keep a calorie deficit going and eventually you'll break through.

If you plateau, just keep going. Seriously, it's not hard, you just persist in healthy behaviors and foods and the weight will come off when it is ready. If you plateau AND have abnormally extreme hunger a refeed of an extra 300-500 calories per day might be in order (eat maintenance for a bit, essentially) for a few weeks might be in order, and then when the calories are reduced again the weight loss resumes. Those are not uncommon if too steep a deficit has been maintained for too long, but a lot is individual.

Stalls and true plateaus happen, it's life. You just keep on doing the healthy thing and let the scale and tape measure take care of themselves. You're not going to be losing weight forever - eventually you will have to maintain - so divorcing progress on the scale from how you feel about yourself and what choices you make is an important behavior to practice. Do the right thing regardless of the scale, because that is what keeps us healthy for life.

I just had a 2-3 week long plateau, and after upping up my exercise a bit I broke through it this week and lost 4lbs! Don't worry about it if it happens; just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be good to go!

I spent a month at 155. I added in a Friday trip to the gym and broke on through.

Hey, you're young! You may not even plateau! I never had an official one

Just keep doing what you're doing and the weight will eventually come off.

I have to jump in with "I never hit a plateau" too. I stayed on plan very faithfully all the while I was losing and the worst was one week where I lost 0 pounds. I don't think they're inevitable.
