I'm guilty of this. I just can't weigh myself once a week, I like to see if I'm making progress and even if its .01 pounds im down it motivates me to stay on plan. It also motivates me to look at my weight when I'm hungry because it makes me lose my appetite. Anyone else weigh theirselves daily or more than once a day?
I need to stop though it's becoming quite obsessive :/
I weigh myself often but I've learned not to put a lot of stock in it. The scale gives me a very fuzzy picture of where I stand on weight loss but my day doesn't revolve around it. Monday is my official weigh in day and yesterday I was 237.8. Today it says I'm 239.8. This doesn't mean I've gained two pounds, it means I might've been a little dehydrated Monday, one of my meals yesterday caused me to retain water (very possible as I had restaurant food!) or a little bit of both.
If weighing daily causes distress, I advise against it. If it is a neutral or positive part of your life and doesn't dictate your mood, it's probably OK.
Yes I am guilty of this....I also am a complusive spreadsheet junkie so I do see the big picture also...I love graphs and charts!! Lol ....I think as long as you can handle the day to day Ups and Downs and don't stress eat from it...I see no real harm. JMHO
I cannot do it. I WI once per week. I step on Sunday morning same time same outfit and then step off and back on again and take the higher weight if the two are not the same. If I WI at 8 then 8:15 then 8:30 it is never the same and usually goes up each time. My weight fluctuates up to 7 pounds towards the end of the day. ahhhhh
Yes, I'm obsessed with the scale. I weigh myself every morning monday-friday. I just like seeing the changes and if it goes up then I know I need to adjust what I'm doing.
I'm not "obsessed" - but yes, I do weigh every day.
Every morning, after potty time, before food or coffee, completely naked. I want to know what my body is doing on a consistent basis.
I started off weighing 2-3 times per day. Also, not out of obsession. It was more of an experiment, to learn the natural fluctuations of *MY* body. To see what difference was made from eating pizza for dinner as opposed to a dry salad, no dressing. To see what REALLY HAPPENS when I eat 1300 calories every day for 4 days, then go up to 1600 then back to 1440, then down to 1300, and what happens when I do weight lifting one day & then cardio the next or a combination of the two. A pound? Two pounds? A couple ounces? No change?
All of this helped me to recognize the specifics of MY body as correlated to MY diet & exercise. Normal weekly averages a 2-3 pound difference either up or down. But my normal MONTHLY average is a weight loss of about 2 lb.
My usual scale time looks something like this:
Day 1 - 156.4
Day 2 - 154.0
Day 3 - 155.3
Day 4 - 155.7
Day 5 - 153.2
Day 6 - 153.0
Day 7 - 154.4
see what I mean? And it's been like that through my entire journey of weight loss for the past 2 years. SLOW weight loss. But pretty much steady weight loss, except for a "holiday plateau" from Thanksgiving-Feb.
I can so live with that!

I weigh often, but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. I trust in the calories-in-calories-out process, so blips in the numbers don't concern me if I've been more or less on plan.
Don't feel guilty-scale lovers unite!
I love using the scale and I think its fine as long as you understand you may fluctuate just due to day to day activities and that losses wont seem as great because you are seeing all the tiny changes.
BTW, those of you who weigh in the morning and also at night, what is your weight diff (after eating?) If I stick to my diet, its usually 1-2 lbs up. If I stray it can be up to like 10 lbs up.

This is pretty much exactly what happens to me. Almost to the T, except for my weigh ins are in the 190's currently, lol... My lowest WI the past 7 days is 193.4 and my highest is 197.6. It depends on the day for me, or what I had for dinner, or any number of things (water intake, did I pee a lot? too much sodium, too many carbs, is it TOM? SO MANY! )
Weighing in once a day is good, I think I would be nuts if I did it more than that. I like to have the base number, and I do my best that day to make it less the next, but I've done this daily-weigh-in-thing long enough to know that my body holds water, so it might be different, not necessarily lower, the next day... but since I calorie count, I know I'm on plan, so I don't stress. It will come off, I just have to KEEP GOING!
I used to obsess. I would weigh myself every single day, and if I was up at all, I'd beat myself up over it and be discouraged all day.
But I've been really working on that, and now I only weigh myself a couple times a week (officially on Saturdays) and if there's an increase, unless I've gone on a binge or something, I know it's normal fluctuation. I'm still a work in progress though!
I get annoyed if I can't weigh myself every morning, I wouldn't call it "obsessed" really though, if I cared that much I'd bring my scale around with me!
My official weigh in is on Monday, and I weigh on 3 different scales just to satisfy my curiosity. I was taking the lower of the three, but I've decided probably a more accurate way to go about this is to average the three together.
But other than that, I'll weigh every time I get on my Wii, but I'll do another weigh-in when I come home on the weekends. So two big weigh-ins a week; one at the beginning, and one at the end. But any time I have a chance to weigh in, I do, lol.
I weigh daily, and sometimes nightly. I've gone up and down in weight a lot in my life, I only gain when I stop weighing, weighing keeps me on track. I've learned to get down on myself about fluctuations though, because it's just the reality of the body, and I know in the grand scheme of things, 1 or 2 lbs means nothing.
If weighing daily makes me obsessed, then count me into the obsessed group too!
I have to - it's also what keeps me on track. Even though I haven't seen much downward motion in a few months now, I keep hoping one of these mornings I suddenly will. Did I mention that I'm a positive person??
