Just a quick note - I didn't get to my meeting on Saturday morning - I opted to sleep late. I had a so-so weekend. I snacked too much Saturday night but recovered yesterday and had a good day and evening, including a great (and tough) run on the treadmill. I'm starting to think that getting to my 10% at the end of March is unattainable so I'm shooting to get to my first 10 pounds lost by then - that's another 2.8 pounds and I KNOW I can do it.

Have a great one!
Judy

Hi everyone!

Dee - Welcome aboard! That's a terrifc first week loss that you had. Feels great, doesn't it? Congrats on your engagement.

Judy - Did you guys end up getting snow last week? We ended up with about 6 inches. Now we're in a deep freeze - it's only 3 degrees out there this morning. How cool that you got a spinning bike. That should keep those bike workouts interesting. Sorry to hear that you had a bit of a tough time with snacking, but it sounds like you have it under control. I know you'll be able to get to your first 10 punds lost by the end of March. I'll tell you what - I'll join you on that journey. I have a bit more to lose to get to my first 10 punds - 4.4 pounds to be exact - but I'll join you in working my hardest to get there.

We had a great mini-vacation. We went up to Door County in Wisconsin. I did ok - not great, but ok - with eating out. Sure made no snacking at night easy. I didn't pack my exercise clothes, which I regret, because the hotel we ended up staying in had a nice little exercise room. I did pack our bathing suits and we went into the pool a couple of times. I tried to do some exercises in the pool just to get a bit of a workout in. Of course, no working out while we were gone meant that yesterday I had to do both a workout on the bike as well as a strength workout and a flexibility workout in order to meet the SELF challenge requirements for the week. I'm pretty proud that I got it all in. I'm really determined to stick with the exercise, especially since my doctor ended up doubling my BP meds on Wednesday. I want off those pills and he wants me off them too. My next appointment is in mid-April and I want to show a nice loss.

Have a great day.

Carla - way to go on "catching up" on the SELF challenge!!!! that's great dedication - I hope you gave yourself lots of pats on the back. I'm glad you had a nice vacation. Hey, doing OK, not great, on eating out really is doing great - if you weren't on the program, what would you have eaten??

I'm so glad you are joining me on my first 10 by the end of this month journey! It's good to have company. I'm hoping that by the time we meet each other in person (!!!!!!!) you'll be off those meds or at least cutting them in half!

We did get some snow - about 3 inches worth but a lot of it melted this weekend when it got into the low 50's. We're back in the cold weather again though - it was a chilly 23 degrees this morning.

I ordered the spinning bike but didn't get it yet. I'm trying to figure out what kind of workouts I want to do this week - I was doing this new "intensity" series for the last 5 week and just found myself really unmotivated last week - a signal to me that it's time for a change (hence the run on the treadmill yesterday). I think I might do a yoga week. It looks as though I will probably have a new boss in the next few days (there is a little restructuring of our group in the works) and I'm sure I'll need all the stress release I can get.

Judy - I bet those three inches seemed like barely more than a dusting, compared to the snowfall you got a few weeks ago. I'm happy to be joining you on the 10 by the end of March challenge too. I'm really hoping to have my BP med dosage cut back in half on my next visit on the 16th of April. A yoga week sounds good. I did mostly yoga for the flexibility part of my workout yesterday and it was great. I used to really love doing yoga when I was younger and I started getting hooked again. I think that I will pull out some of my books and videos and make that flexibility workout a bit longer. I was so relaxed afterwards that I could barely motivate myself to get off the mat. I hope the restructuring works out well for you - they tend to be unsettling I know.

Hi Everyone,

Back again from the world of pc woes. Gave up and got a new one .

Welcome to Barbara and Dee, glad to have you join us!

Sounds like people have been busy. Me too, although I'm on my last of 3 days off and I'm being a slug today.

Judy & Carla - nice to hear you both sounding so motivated. Please rub some off on me! Mike has been laid off since Christmas, and the togetherness every waking moment except when I'm at work is grinding on my nerves big time this week. I think I'll pack myself off to the gym this afternoon. Haven't been there for a couple of weeks.

Anyway, it's nice to be back online with you all. Not checking in daily has been detrimental!

Bye for now,

Karen - good to see you back on the board! Did you get to the gym? OK, here's some {{{{{MOTIVATION}}}}} for you. Did ya' catch it?

I did OK yesterday. I did a yoga tape yesterday - Crunch Fat Burning Yoga and wow, did it make me sweat. It also felt really good - I did it at lunchtime and it helped with the stress level that I find is worse on Mondays. We had a conference call late in the afternoon that I called into - it was to announce this new person in our group. Right now, it seems as if my boss is still in place and I still report to him. We'll see. In any case, I decided that since that was the last meeting of the day, I would have a glass of wine while I listened! I managed the snacking pretty well last night. My sneak peek this morning was very nice - of course, for the last month my sneak peek has been good at the beginning of the week and bad at the end. I have to be sure to keep it good or else I will not get to my 10 pounds by the end of the month.

Have a great one!

Hi all.

Karen B - Good to "see" you again. I figured you were having more PC problems. I'll send you some {{{{motivation}}}} too! Sorry to hear that Mike was laid off. Is it a seasonal thing where he'll be re-hired, or does he need to find another job? The gym is as good a place as any, and better than most, to hang out when you need some time to yourself. (Although I'm partial to the library as well.)

Judy - I giggled at the thought of you enjoying some wine while dialed into your meeting. One of the benefits of working at home, huh? Good job managing the snacking.

I did so-so yesterday. Ana decided it was my birthday and she wanted to have a party for me. John bought into it and took her to the store to buy party hats, balooons, and cake. So the cake got me. But they got a 1/2 cake, so it won't be around forever to tempt me. Speaking of birthdays, Judy isn't your's coming up really soon? I took a rest from exercise yesterday, but I was back on the bike today, even though I was so tired (didn't sleep well last night) that I could barely drag myself downstairs. It possibly was the longest 30 minutes in the history of the universe, but I got through it and I'm glad I did it. Tomorrow I'll work on strength and flexibility again.

Have a great day everyone.

Gotta be quick, late for work! Maintained this week from my 2 lb gain last week.

Carla - happy un-birthday! Hope you avoided excess cake. Mike's layoff is just seasonal - he should be out of my hair soon.

Judy - thanks for the motivation, and no, I didn't get to the gym. Going tonight without fail.

I'll check back later.

Hi all! Thanks for the warm welcomes. I had my weigh in this morning after the end of week 2 and am happy to report another loss. Lost 4 lbs this week for a total of 9. I'm so happy.

Judy- I work from home too. What do you do? I am sales support for 7 salespeople. I also do a lot of administrative things for my director.

Talk to you later!

Carla - Happy Un-Birthday - how sweet of Ana. Hey, if that cake starts tempting you, don't forget, you can always throw it out (of course, I never seem to do that...). Way to go on getting on that bike and staying on it even though it was the longest 30 minutes in the history of the universe ;-) Those are the times that make exercise a habit! Yeah, my 46th is coming up at the end of the month (and Anthony's FIFTH birthday is on the 21st!) Tony and I are going to the Mohegan Sun casino for a couple of days around there and I just found out that my first day back to work, 3/31, I'm on "standby" jury duty - the kind you call in every evening to see if you have to appear the next day.

Karen B - Sorry to hear about Mike but glad to hear that it's seasonal. I agree with Carla - the library is a great escape place too but going to the gym does have some additional benefits. Congrats on the maintain. It's a step in the right direction!

Dee - Wow! Congratulations on that second, super loss. You are doing great! I'm a project manager in the technology area for a bank. Telecommuting is wonderful. I wish I could do it more than my current 2 days a week, especially since my commute now is close to 3 hours a day.

I had a good day yesterday. I ate my max points but considering it was a very, very stressful day at work, my temporary crown fell out and I had to leave early to get to the dentist, and I had to some work in the evening, I'm happy with myself. I did some freestyle upper body while I was watching TV too.

Have a great one!
Judy

Hi all -

Karen - Congrats on the maintain - it means you're heading back in the right direction. Glad to hear that Mike will be back to work soon.

Dee - Congrats on another great loss! Revel in the feeling and store it up. If you ever have a tough day you can remember how good losing feels - it helps pull you through.

Judy - The birthday cake is long gone. Fortunately there wasn't a lot of it. I remember Anthony's birthday because it's exactly 2 months to the day before Ana's. Hard to believe they're going to be five already, isn't it. Good job not going over max points yesterday, what with all the stress and all.

I'm posting a slight gain this morning - .08 pounds. I was expecting it as my rings were tight and my eating wasn't the best on our road trip. I'll have it back off by next week for sure. My knees and legs were so stiff yesterday afternoon and this morning that all I wanted to do was lay on the couch. But I made my way through my strength and flexibility workouts. I just concentrated on the upper half of my body, for the most part, and avoided anything that put too much strain on my knees. I really want to be able to get back on the bike tomorrow.

Have a great day.

Sorry to hear about the gain, Carla. If your rings are tightm you know it's mostly water. Roadtrips are tough - in the past I bet you would have gained more. Way to go on getting through the strength and flexibility even when you wanted to lay on the couch. I'm so glad that the SELF challenge is motivating you.

I had a so-so day especially last night. I got home late from work after a very long day. I was doing OK until mid-evening and then snacked my way into my banked points. Definitely some PMS working it number. Some of that snacking was peanut butter and my rings are tight today, so in addition to getting in workout today and eating low point, I'll be guzzling water. I want to see a loss on the scale on Saturday!

Judy

Hi all.

Hmm - either I didn't hit send, or my post from yesterday disappeared.

Judy - Keep guzzling that water! I know my gain was water weight as it was gone by the next day. I'm sending you positive vibes to keep that PMS monster at bay.

I had a good day, point-wise, yesterday. I ended up 5 points under maximum. No exercise yesterday though. I was so tired from not sleeping well for a couple of nights that I ended up taking a three hour nap. I did hop on the bike this morning though, so I'm still on track for getting in my three cardios for the week. No particular challenges this weekend, other than my MIL's annual corned beef fest. She always insists on celebrating St. Pat's day, even thought there isn't a drop of Irish blood anywhere in the family. She loves corned beef, so this gives her an excuse to have it. I, on the other hand, hate corned beef, a fact which seems to surprise her every year. So it will be cabbage and potatos for me. Oh well, makes it easier to stay OP.

Have a great day and a terrific weekend.

Carla
