:grouphug: Hi Everybody

We have had blowing snow, slippery streets and generally not very nice weather around here either. :(
This has not been a good year for me to stay home instead of going south. DH told me he heard on the radio that temperatures will likely remain below the normal range for the next couple of months. :faint:
Bad weather or not I went out early this morning with a friend as we had appointments for our mammograms. They are such a nice bunch of people working there and I think they have likely heard every "joke" there is about mammograms. :)
Peggy I went and had a look at those cigar box purses that you mentioned you saw on ebay, and they look like they would be a fun thing to own. I don't know if all the "older" dollies I know would want one but I thought I might. LOL :D I think my DIL would just love one. I have not seen them around here yet. I emailed my friend who is "STILL" in Maui and asked her if she saw them for sale. Maui has a lot of big Craft shows and tourists are always looking for something a little bit different to buy and take home.
Glenda how is that "boo boo" elbow of your's doing now?
I saw some updated pictures of Trudy's little angel and she sure is a sweetheart with her big bright eyes and big smile. It sure doesn't take them very long to start developing a little personality. :)
My weight loss is slow but I am trying, so that good. I have to walk a little faster and a little longer on the treadmill and then maybe I will show better results. Hi to all, and talk to you soon.

Slavika I was looking around and found a couple of cigar boxes in the garage. They are the gaudy thin ones. The one I bought for my sis[who is going on 75-but keeps up with everything] is a plain wood one with a cute shape. I sort of would like to keep it. She makes gourd purses out of canteen gourds that are really pretty. Even a movie star's wife owns one. For all you Tom lovers I just heard that he is going to have a new show on next year. I forget what it is about.

Well ladies, hi from me here in OZ.

I have at long last settled down to a serious weight loss plan. After doing much research I have decided to go with the WW points system. I have the books from a time long ago when the point system was first brought in here in Australia. I start the program on Monday and have until then to get all the stupidity out of my system. Thank you all who gave me advice in helping me make up my mind.

Slavika at our age mammograms can be scary but it sounds as if all is OK. When do you get your results?

Take care all.

Ash/Jenye

Hi: I hate to make you jealous, but we are finally having the right kind of weather. What you expect to have in Florida. The orange trees are all in bloom now and so sweet. Next the Gardenia bushes, and then the Carolina Jasmine. Keeps the air perfumed for a while. Love it.

No weigh-in for me today, as we had rehearsal for our spring show. A musical Flower Garden. We have songs about Daisys and roses, and sunflowers, carnations, lilacs, tulips, just to name a few. Even a 4 leaf clover. We have had a good time with this music. After Monday night it will be all over. Yay!!!!

Ash: You won't be sorry you went with WW. It is a good program. But like anyother, it only works if you work at it.

Maria: What interesting things have you been doing now?

Lily: I'm with you. I do like Tom. Like to watch his old movies, and also watch Magnum P.I. whenever I can find one. I like the westerns, like Lonesome Dove.

Hi everyone, Hope you have had a good weekend. Tomorrow I am going to a talent showcase. An opportunity to view new talent, that would be availaable to come to our park to entertain. It is fun, and we do get some good ideas, and find people we can afford to hire. "See' you Monday. Ann

Jenye! Woo hoo! You wont be sorry! HAve questions just ask us! It really is a good program. So flexible to make a life style change. Dont ask me about my day to day :) Will be another story :o :dizzy:

Now Ann are you trying to make Me feel old? Lonesome dove?? Must rent again :) Sounds like your weekend is filled. Have fun!

Thanks Lily for the words of wisdom. I will not be starting until tomorrow and yes there will probably be many questions.

Today I have been trying to eat sensibly and have managed a small amount of control. I have visited the WW site and now am armed with the information I need. Thanks all.

Take care,

Ash/ Jenye.

G'day all,

Finally I have had a chance to post!

All is going well here in New Zealand where it continues to be quite warm. I am wearing the same things over and over again, our winter clothes we brought have not been touched!
I have to say that my pants and t shirts are getting a lot longer!! I am so focussed and very determined to go home a lot slimmer.
Jeney WW is definetly the only way to go and I am sure you will do well this time, sounds like something has 'clicked' in your head this time. DH cannot believe how resolute I am this time and nothing will sway me from my path. I can cetainly see the results.
My return home will also mean I will be able in a lot of clothes that have been a bit too tight for some time :)

We stayed 'home' this weekend and went for long walks in the local area. We are also doing some research on the hiring of a motor home. At the end of our sojourn here we would like to take 2 weeks holidays and tour the south island of New Zealand. I know motor homes are quite popular in Canada as well, any of you have had any good/bad experiences to share??

Slavika Good for you having your mammogram. I always feel a bit immortal when it comes back all clear:D
Your weather sounds atrocious, aren't you starting spring?
Not surprised to hear that Trudy's 'angel' is just beautiful.
I'll have to look on Ebay to see what you and Peggy mean by the cigar box purses.

Ann you continue to be very busy, sounds like a lot of fun though. Hope your next weigh in will be good.

Glenda that elbow of yours sounds soooo painful, hope the physio will help.

Lily Tom is OK but my favourite has to still be Chris Isaak, he can sing, he is good looking, he is witty but probably cannot really act:dizzy: :D

I am posting this at dh's work and I feel a bit conspicuous, so I will love and leave you till next time.........

Cheers
Maria

I didn't know that you were on WW Maria , at least I won't be on my own. How are you enjoying New Zealand?

Today I started the WW program using the points system that was introduced in 1998, I went to WW then when I was still driving and could get there without relying on others, it surely hasn't changed all that much. Guess what? I am not hungry and it is 19.45pm and nearly bedtime. Wow, I should have done this a long time ago.

Lizzie and Lily thanks for being behind me , I know where to go if any questions arise. The only problem that is ahead of me is finding an alternative way to exercise all the time as walking is out and so is swimming. Any ideas?

Take care all you gals.

Love and Hugs,

Jenye.

Hi Everybody Gosh I missed you
Maria happy to read your post. Good for you for sticking to your weight loss program. :) Your clothes are getting a little looser and mine were getting a little tighter, so I'm trying hard to "get with the program". Jenye actually, I think all the gals on this board follow WW, LOL, :D some more religiously then others. We are very lucky :lucky: to have both Karen and Lily posting on our board. With so much snow, I am still feeding all my "wild critters". My little bunny has already changed into his "spring/summer" coat so he sticks out like a sore thumb against the white snow. This morning I went outside and put the seed out and peanuts and also a handful of those gourmet carrots. I have put the carrots out a few times for the bunny but I never know when he will show up so sometimes they just freeze before he comes. Today, he showed up minutes after I put them out. Well, was he ever excited (I could tell, hee hee). He just sat his big butt down and started eating. A short time later the big grey squirrel came for peanuts and I was really surprised when the bunny chased him off. I told DH the other day to look out the window as the bunny, a small little red squirrel and the birds were all eating the seeds together..........but not today. I guess the stakes were higher, there were gourmet carrots. :s: Peggy I told my friend to look around and see if those Cigar Box Purses were for sale in Maui. She sent me an e-mail back saying she saw one for $95.00 US. YIKES....that's about $145.00 Canadian. She really didn't tell me anything about though. :(
Oh Ann I am jealous of your weather. Honestly I feel like this snow and cold weather are going to be around forever. On the bright side, we are promised warmer weather this coming weekend. :cb:
Talk to you all later.

Hey everyone: My chorus program is over, and all went well. The Best that they have ever done a program. We got lots of compliments. March is just moving right along with one activity after another.

Ash: Could you do some easy weight lifting. Maybe two or three lb. weights to start with? And I know at one time my mother-in-law lifted with her legs. She used come 1 lb. cans of vegetables. Can remember how she fasstened it to her shoe - maybe just in a bag, and the loop went over the toe. But I know with her arthritis, she could do those kind of lifts.

Slavika: There isn't a pocketbook/purse in the whole world I would pay $195 dollars for. That is really wild. Hope you got your nice weather for the weekend. March is certainly seeming to go out with a bang.

We enjoyed our entertainment showcase. Lost of interesting acts. One man did sound effects, along with jokes, and he was amazing. I guess he had worked in Hollywood with cartoons for some time, but is doing this in his retirement. Really good.

Trudy: Hope sometime you can show us a picture of your little Angel.

Maria: Good for you. I wish I could get the spunk to get a few loose fittng clothes. I hate to tell you of our experiences with motor homes. We owned two, and were plagued with problems. It would seem if you rented one, they would have to be in good condition. Our first one, we lost an engine and spent 10 days in a garage, literally lived in the MH outside the garage, while they worked on it. The second one was a true lemon, and we were out of business over 41 days in a year and a half. we invoked the lemon law on that one, and got most of our money back. But don't let that scare you. Many people have very good luck with theirs.

Lily: Glad we are the ones who appreciate tall, dark and handsome Tom.

I think I am finally winding down after the evenings activities. So must get to bed. Tomorrow is another busy day. Ann

Good Morning Ladies.

Well another day has dawned it is 6.15am and the darkness still persists outside. The weather bureau predicts 32 degrees C or 90 degrees F in Melbourne today but I can already feel the humidity that goes with it. Thank goodness for air conditioning. I am going out for lunch today with the M.S. society group in our suburb, this occurs on a monthly basis and is the 1 day in the month that is really enjoyable. I am really looking forward to it. May be that is why I am up so early.

Ann Thanks for the advice, I never thought of that. May be at some stage someone has told me that as I have foot weights that I purchased some time ago so I had better fish them out as I really need to do some work on my legs. As the saying goes "use it or lose it" and I really need to use it.

Slavika WW seems to be the one for me. The gals that are using it would certainly know that it works even if they aren't using it 100%. So far I haven't been at all hungry and I am into my 3rd day. The "wild critters " sound gorgeous I would love to see them. A girlfriend of mine feeds the birds at her place and every night she goes out with 2 apricot sandwiches and an apple to feed her possum that she has named "Percy". He is so cute, he comes just after she has been out.

Well ladies that is all the news from here today. See you all tomorrow.

Take care,

Jenye.

Hi Everybody
I didn't go for my usual Wednesday outing with my friend as I have this nasty cold. :( Hopefully tomorrow I will be feeling better and we will go then.
Jenye I don't "think" we have any possum's in Canada, at least none have ever showed up in my back yard. I think the possum is much like our raccoon in weight, and a little in appearance except the raccoon has the litle "mask". Yesterday when Trudy was here for tea we suddenly saw "something" that cast this HUGE shadow on the wall behind my kitchen table and when we looked out the kitchen window there was this ENORMOUS black crow perched on the wooden arbour in my yard.
I'm telling you, that crow was so large he could have picked up my little bunny and flew off with him. :( Yikes, I don't like crows, they just give me the shivers. Jen did you have a nice lunch?
The only "good" thing about being sick with a cold is I seem to have lost my appetite. I'm sure that situation is only temporary. My little granddaughter is sick with a cold too as are half the people on the planet I think. We finally get a day that is a little warmer, and here I am indoors.
My mammogram letter came yesterday from the Breast Screening and I am so pleased that all is well and I go again in 2 yrs. Ann glad your chorus program was a success. Does everybody in your "park" (who is able) take part in putting all the diferent activities together or is it sort of the same people that do all the work?
Maria DH and I and friends went on a short holiday in a motor home we had rented. Well actually our friends had rented and we went with them. We were gone about 4 days/nights. We went to a lovely lake where my friends parents had parked their trailer for the summer months. The biggest draw backs that I remember with the motor home was when we were in towns, and trying to find a place big enough to park it, and that the shower/bathroom was so small it was almost impossible to take a shower. Gas for the motor home is very very expensive.......I remember that trip as being a lot of fun but I don't think I would want to travel like that again. I would rather drive in a comfortable car then stop and sleep/eat in a nice hotel, but I know lots of people just love it. :) We went with the motor home because there was no hotel at that lake and it was better then sleeping in a tent.

Slavika: Whoa! Thats lots for a purse! You could probably make it. Your bunny sounds so cute! Suprised he did chase the squirrel away to. Im with you I hate Crows. They are so noisy to. You have no Possums??????? ?:o

Jenye: I agree with Ann. Just some easy lifting would work. Anything light helps just as long as you move some. Maybe even some stretching tapes would help to. Dont really even need a tape for that either. Just stretch the legs and arms and what ever. Hope you had a great lunch!

Ann: Glad your chorus program was a success! Will it slow down for you now some? IS everyone leaving now?

Maria: I know nothing about Motor homes. Been in a camper before. But All I did was lay up on top and sleep
My kind of trip :dizzy:

Been a real crazy week here at work.
Weather was beautiful at the first of the week but now its going to rain. I was hoping for spring ALAS will it ever come?

Later!

Hi All:

Ash: We have possums here in Fl. In fact lots of them and unfortunately they are often the victims of roadkill. They are really cute little critters. We have the occasional Armadillo around here, and they do damage to the lawns. The love grubs and just come and dig, dig, dig. They are so ugle, they are actually cute, if that makes sense. Wish they didn't do damage. Glad you have some weights already. Those sort of lifting and stretching exercises should be good.

Slavika: Colds are no fun.:( I love that new t.v. commercial for breathe right strips, where the little kids head just flattens from the effort to breath through his nose. Hope you are doing better. Good news with the mammogram. Mine is coming up next month. I have to go every year, because of a family history, and also because of cystic problems. Our snow birds usually start to leave around the first of April. Everyone wants to be home by Easter, so wherever Easter falls, seems to be the deciding factor. I think we are much like a lot of places. There is a certain of core of people who will chair events, and then lots of people who will help. So many 'Indians and not too many Chiefs'. I will be finished with this job at the end of this year and then it will be someone else's turn. We do try to get new residents involved as much as we can.

Maria: Congratulations on your getting slimmer. I'm with Slavika, mine seem to be getting tichter right now. And we had some guests for dinner last night and what did they bring us, but a big box of chocolates.

Hi Lily, Peggy, Glenda, Trudy and anyone else that may have slipped my mind.:D: Have a good weekend. Ann

It is so great to read about you and all your activities. Jen, I am right now taking physical therapy for my right arm after dislocating my elbow. The young girl who is helping me has emphasized how much just a little weight-lifting will strengthen anybody's arms and legs and keep them from being so susceptible to strains. Again, it isn't so much vanity now as health. My arm has straightened out quite a bit and feeling so much better.

Slavika - love your little critter stories. I think everyone is tired of this winter, even your critters. I am so ready to see some green sprouts, even weeds will do.

Lily - my work has sped up too of late. Of course, it always does when you get a new administrator and he is trying to learn his job and making everybody justify and explain everything. I am with you on the Tom issue.

Maria - glad you are doing so well on your weight. It doesn't take that long when you get focused. It is that "drifting" that I do that takes a long time.

Anne, I sure like to hear about your retirement. I think you have fun, but you sound busier than those of us who work. It is "good-busy", though. When you live in Florida, what do you do on "vacation"? Seems like you live on "vacation". I sure sound envious about right now, don't I? Just so tired of bad weather. We drove to work through fog like pea soup. Yuch!

Have a great day and an even better weekend.

:grouphug: Hi Everybody
OOPS! :sorry: We do have possums in Canada (not in my backyard) LOL  but they are around. I told DH I had never seen a "wild" one, not even at the lake, but he thinks they hang out close to the farm lands. I have seen other little animals killed on the roads but not a possum.
My cold is hanging on, but I do feel much better today then I have for the last 3 days. Tomorrow I should be really good. ;)
Glenda I too, am so ready for Spring and some green stuff. Our snow is starting to melt, but everything looks so dirty now....but at least it's melting. :cb:
Ann when we went to visit my Aunt and Uncle a few years back in Texas, she said the "division of labour" was much as you described. My Aunt is very talented in many areas so she did a lot of "set design" and work for the plays and things that were done on stage. She is also a wonderful sewer, and could just whip up anything, They don't go away anymore, as my Uncle is 90 years old and his health is poor and she is 87. They live in a small rural town in a senior's condo and brought many of the fun things they learned and did in Texas to that community. She is the last of my father's 6 siblings and I just adore her.
Lily my friend (in Maui) sent me an e-mail yesterday and she is going to send the purse to my place in the mail, so that will be one less thing for her to bring home. She told me to feel free to open the parcel and take a "look" at the purse BUT it wasn't for me. LOL :s: I told her I once heard the possession was 9/10th of the law. She told me that she also bought my birthday present there and I would like it better then the purse. :gift: I have to wait a long time because my birthday isn't until July.
Jen you sure do have nice weather. Even your "bad" weather is nice by our standards.
Since I have kind of been in the house for the last few days, I don't have anything exciting to you. I hope you all have a nice weekend.

I think spring is finally coming. Tulips and things are starting to pop up and the snow has melted. Fairly nice out today for a change. Ann you are the busiest person I know. You all seem to have so much fun with your shows and things. You go girl!! It keeps you young and active. I think you are a chief. Slavika I have a have-a-heart trap to catch chipmunks. We seem to catch possums. They are nasty little things. We take them to a park and free them. Same with the chippys. They drive my dog crazy when they are active. Your bunny sounds so cute. You have a way with wildlife. There is no way I would pay that much for a cigar box purse. I thought 35 was a lot. Jennye how is the WW going. The nice thing about it is there is so much info online with recipes and such. Maria I can feel your joy in your looser clothes. Makes you feel so good to be in that spot. Keep it up. Lily are you counting the days til Tom comes on? Glenda hope the job gets a little easier with each passing day. Today is cleaning day. I am working on the basement. It is never ending. I keep trying to clean my craft area and I start playing with something and don't get anything accomplished. Going to Indy tomorrow so I have so get with it.

Ann: We have possums. I was a work one night really late. Got called in at Midnight. Walked out the door to go home and this ugly thing came walking toward me. Scared the living crap out of me! Ran to the car as fast as I could :) When you are alone late at night at least for me it was spooky :)

Glenda: Glad the weight lifting is working for you and helping your arm. It really is good for the bones. And you dont have to lift heavy weights to do it. Small weights do the trick! I watch these people at the gym all the time and wonder how they can do it.

Slavika: I thought you had possums! Glad the cold is getting better. Hey she is shipping it to you. Its yours! Just say OOOPs I thought you meant it for me! Your right possession is 9/10th of the law!

Peggy: Spring was here until today. It rained so hard! I was driving to WW when it came pouring down. It was really bad. Havent seen it like that in a long time. And of course it was dark outside as I go at 6:00 Am so it made it worse. Almost came back home but I kept going. Not counting the days yet. Needs to get a little closer to do that. But I just might have to take a Vacation to Maui to visit :) I wish.

Off to watch a movie.

Have a great night all!

We had a beautiful day here in Minnesota. It won't last but we sure are enjoying the heck out of it. Yesterday I was out chipping the ice off the driveway and sidewalk. Today it is all gone I think it got up to 55 today. Last week it was below "0" and our shower pipes froze again. Going to have to do something abut that come summer.

We had a BBQ the afternoon. At DS house. Our other son was in for the day so it was just the excuse we needed. Kids were out side without coats and hats. It was wonderful.

It was a busy week for me I did 10 meetings(equals 528 miles on my car) 2 of them were for another leader who was on vacation. Needless to say by Friday I was out of it. Couldn't beleive I slept in until 10:30. Then I was out of it for the rest of the day . Didn't get much done except go to the bank and cook supper. I tried a new recipe out of a new WW cookbook "Take Five" Stuffed red bell pepper. Was very good but next time I will use the rice recommended in the book rather than what I had on hand. There are still two left. I put them in the freezer. Will have at least one of them next week when I am on the run yet again.

Ann I really long for your life. You sound as if you have so much fun in your community. Am hoping we find a place like that to go to in the winter after retirement.

I will be watching 3 of the Grand kids tomorrow for a few hours and then I hope to get the peices cut for the new quilt I am going to try to make. It's called "Rail Fence Quilt" We'll see how it goes. I've seen one done in Christmas colors . This one in going to be done in shades of blue with some flowers and a paisley print in places. There are nine differerent colors and prints. Some time tomorrow I will have to get next weeks Meeting straight in my mind too. Also need to get my car packed for this week with all the supplies needed at different meeting places. Some times I feel like a pack horse!

Slavika sorry to hear you are sick. Take care of your self. From the News tonight there is a serious pnumonia going around the world. So check in with your doctor if you are not better soon. Please.

Lily I hate driving in rain worse than snow. That must have been a spring rain?

Slavika what is going on in Trudy's life. Let her know we miss hearing from her.

I'm going to bed.

Hang in there, spring is on the way. Tulips and crocus, and lilacs. I do miss those flowers, but we have some beautiful flowering trees so I guess it is a trade off.

Last night we had a St. Pats dinner at the clubhouse. corned beef, cabbage and all the trimmings. I think there were around 180 people there. Lots of workers, and I didn't have to do a thing. Just eat and enjoy.

It will seem a bit strange not to have chorus practice tomorrow, but I will enjoy the extra time. Think my dh and I will go to a movie. Have heard that 'Bringing down the House' with Steve Martin is very funny, so we are going to give it a try.

Slavika: Hope you are now feeling better. I bet you are having a bit of cabin fever.

Glenda: glad to hear that your arm is better. Physical therapy is so great for that sort of injury. Have a granddaughter who is going to school to do PT. She is good already.

Karen: Come right down. We always have places available here in our park. You'd love it.

Peggy: I know what you mean about trying to clean and then getting waylaid by some project. Guess for me, that is evidence that I really don't like to clean. Always something better to do. :D: How was your trip to Indy?

Lily: I hate to drive through fog too. And there are always some wierdos who refuse to slow up and that is how such horrendous pile-ups take place. Do you have any good mexican desserts? We are going to try the enchiladas, but we are looking for dessert, now.

Hi Trudy: Miss hearing from you. Hope you are well.

Ash: How is the WW going? Did you try the weights? I'm sure they will help.

Maria: What wonderful thing are you exploring now. I am enjoying New Zealand through your eyes. That is about as close as I will ever come, I'm sure.

Talk to you all later. Ann

G'day all,

It has been a little while since I last posted. It is a jolly nuisance not being able to use the internet as I am used to.
Great to read everyone's posts.
On the possum bit, they are a pest here and one can freely buy possum skins. We have some in Adelaide but they are protected, here it is definetly in plague proportion.

We didn't do much at the weekend other than did some very big walks along the Waikato River (regarded as the Missisippi River of New Zealand). It was dh's birthday on the 16th and it is mine on the 21st so we have bought a new digitial camera, a Nikon CoolPix 5700. It is a lot more like a SLR, ie not as simple as my little Canon Powershot!! We have been experimenting with that at the weekend.
We also went to see 'The gangs of New York', (dh's choice, HIS birthday!!!) what a violent film. Daniel DayLewis is an excellent actor but boy there were many a times that I sat with my hands over my eyes, not really my idea of entertainment.
On the work front things continue to change, one minute we will be here till June and last night we were told we will be out of here by the end of the month. I don't really care and look forward to going home again but it is again all this uncertainty not knowing what is happening. We are determined to travel the South Island of New Zealand before going home, dh has about 9 weeks holidays up his sleeve, so it should not be a problem.

Today at 1 pm the address to America by President Bush will be televised live. It is indeed a sad day for the world as we all know what the address will tell us.
New Zealand's government is against the war, it is interesting to listen to the radio and here what the ordinary 'Joe Blow' thinks about this stance. In Australia whilst there have been many demonstrations for peace, the opinion polls show that the majority agree with the Australian Government stance, support for the USA. History will tell us if the right decision was made.

On a lighter note, I continue to mess about digitising and 'fixing' photographs. DH set me the challenge to 'fix' a photograph to make it look like he did a bungy jump. I had a photograph of a spot where they do bungy jumping and with our new camera we took some photo's of dh lying on the floor in our motel. The end result was quite realistic and 99% of people dh emailed it to thought it was genuine :D
The only people who 'knew' it was doctored were my kids, they know their father is extremely safety conscious and wouldn't even go willingly on a Ferris Wheel :D
We should have really kept it till April 1.

That is all for now,
Take care all :grouphug:
Cheers
Maria

Hi everyone. Rode my bike 5 miles today. I have been trying to do that as often as I can.

Things are slowing down abit. In March we had one or two activities almost every week. In April there will only be 3 for the whole month, and by May only one. then it will be relaxation time for sure. Most of the Snowbirds will be home for Easter.

This whole world situation has me down abit. It seems that the Americans will be damned if we do and damned if we don't. There will be someone somewhere that won't like us. I must admit I was a bit put out, with the remark by France today, saying well if there were chemical weapons used, then they would come in and help. DUH!!!

Got to get off my soap box. We are enjoying nice weather.

Slavika: hope you are feeling better now. Have you received your Hawaiian 'purse' yet. I certainly think that posession is 9/10th of the law. Isn't that what they say?

Glenda: Hope your elbow is back to its 'old' self and moving well.

Maria: You must be frustrated as you can't get on line as often as you like. Interesting that New Zealand and Australia have such different feelings about what is going on. Sounds like you had a nice weekend. And I would get antsy not knowing when or where you are going to move on. But of course, you and you dh are accustomed to this.

Peggy: Are you making box purses yet? We'll all take one I'm sure.:D:

Ashe: How are the weights working out?

Karen: Another busy week? What is your opinion, as a leader about the low carbohydrate diets?

Lily: found a Mexican dessert recipe for us?

Hi Trudy

Have a good week everyone. Ann

Karen you know that you shouldn't mention that you are making a quilt. Everyone will want one, including me. No Ann haven't started to make cigar box purses yet. One of these days....I have a ton of painting to do for the lady I paint for. She gave me some bad news today-her dh is in the beginning of Alzheimers. Maria I am sure you will be home to attend Russell Crowe's wedding won't you? We had a nice time in Indy. It will be one of the last times we see my nephew and his family. They are moving to India [Madras] in May. She is a doctor and is from there. He follows her. He is looking for a job-he has doctorate in engineering and can't find anything here either. He is working at a Target for now. The oldest boy just turned 12 and is having a hard time with the move. I know that I won't be visiting them in India. It is going to be such a change for them and the world in the state it is in I worry about them. Plus I can't imagine packing up all the stuff they have and moving it here much less across the world. Lily I hope the rains stop. Just heard that Colorado has had 12 inches of snow. We are enjoying weather in the 70's but I know it will not last. My crocus popped up overnight. The work on my street is a big mess. We had 4 double size dump trucks full of sand put on the side of my house.. It looks like a mountain. THe mailman said all the cats in the neighborhood will like it. They should be getting close to working out in front. Some days I am a prisoner and can't get out of my driveway cause of their equipment. It will be like this for at least 6 more months. What fun!! I am tired. Take care and pray for peace.

Peggy - I have sat glued to the net this morning, reading what I can about the possible war. I am just so uneasy and as Maria says, only history will be able to tell if this is the right or wrong move. If we go to war, I just have to pray that it is the right move and support our troops. There are so many young men that I know are in Kuwait, etc.

Anne, I am glad for you that your busy season is ending so you can enjoy the spring and summer fun. Whenever I hear about your fun stuff and my work just keeps getting more stressful because of budget cuts, etc, I just want to be retired like you.

Trudy - how is your baby? I cannot wait until ours smiles at us. That is such a neat time. We sure are enjoying ruffles and bows and pink.

I have been thinking about our renewal ceremony. I have to find time to buy a dress. I just hate to shop when I have gained weight, but still have to.

Maria - we saw "The Gangs of New York" too mainly through my fingers. It was so violent, but I guess the time was really that violent. I had never really heard of that time and how utterly desperate life was for people in New York in the 1800's. The criminals were the majority and the desperation of life was just taken for granted. We have so much to be thankful for now.

Slavika - Hope you are feeling better. Did you just get tired of going to Hawaii each year so you didn't go this year? Seems like this year has been a really, really hard winter. I am so ready to walk around the lake and feel the sun on my face. I really would like to be somewhere with Pepe, my cabana boy, at my beck and call. I just need a pampered vacation. Anyone want to join me?

Believe me, I am ready for spring and summer. Feb and the first half of March have been brutal. We didn't get a lot of snow so with the extreme cold snap the frost went down deep and the city is plagued with broken water mains. Just ask Slavika she was without water one day. Glenda I think I will join you and Pepe  I need a vacation too. Today is just gorgeous out... warm and sunny. My DH is outside in his shirt sleeves trying to figure out where the water is going as it drains from our yard. The snow is melting so fast and the ground is still frozen so that water has to drain somewhere.

I have been kind of busy. My little  was Baptised last Sunday. It was a beautiful service... she wore her Mom's Baptismal gown that my Mother had made for my DD 30 years ago. I had kept it in the cedar chest along with the crochet blanket. Surprisingly it hadn't yellowed. It is amazing how much my  looks like my DD. It was a busy week for me. I did all the cooking, most of it ahead of time and froze it. Getting everything hot and out on the table was more nerve-racking that the cooking was. There were 21 people and I think it went very well. My DD and SIL have started up with a new Church that is closer to their home. It is the same religion, but the Church has a much smaller congregation. It was very nice and was so good to worship in the same Church with our DD and family.

My Granddaughter ...what wonderful words ;)... is just full of smiles and gurgling laughter. She coo's and is very intrested in her fingers... she plays with the little attached toys on her little seats and swing. She is such a delight. I could go on and on... but I won't :D .

I have only 1 more WI for March and it will come as no surprise to you that I have not WI yet. I just dread going, but will have to take a chance next week. It just never gets any easier and I don't seem to get any smarter either. I have been to the gym every day this week. I sure found it hard going back.

A BIG HI to everyone.. talk to you later :grouphug:

Glelnda I want to go with you too. Want to escape the dread of the thoughts of war. Do you think we can find someplace to do that? Trudy give your little angel lots of love. She sounds precious.
