Exercise! - Exercise 250 hours in 2012 OR approx 21 hours in March!

Welcome all... People are always welcome to join. If you join In March, you can jump in for the remaining 210 hours of 2012 that remain or you can join us now for just the month of March which would be about 21 hours.

You can count in hours or minutes - whatever you prefer. 21 hours is 1860 minutes for March. 210 hours is 12600 minutes for what remains for the rest of the year.

If you add that up, exercising 250 hours for the year works out to exercising 5 hours a week for 50 weeks of the year. Not too much, but not too little either.

You decide what exercise you want to do. There is no passing judgement on what people consider exercise as movement is movement in my book!

Well, I am on track. How I don't know as I feel I haven't been doing as much as I should. I guess it's because last year I was doing more than what I am doing now so that it feels like what I'm doing now is not enough.

Melissa, you're doing really well, and keeping very active, don't feel bad for not doing enough!

1460 is my target for March to keep me on track for the year, which I'm following on my ticker.

Glad to find a group of dedicated movers to join forces with. :)

54 hours in feb, 3 till yesterday, 2 today for a total of 59 hrs so far!!!
In addition to this, I took up a challenge to commit to doing pushups vryday. I found another thread somewhere on this site for creative ways to get motivated! So, I put up(copied from this site!) on my status on fb that I will do 5 pushups for each like every day for a week!! 22 people liked it (friends find happiness in your misery!!)and I did 120 pushups each day... And to begin with... I hated doing even a single pushup!!
At least this got me into a routine!! Good luck to all for march!!

BodyStep was WORK today. I have a slight cold and man, people who say they feel better after exercise when they have a cold are luckier than me. I just feel more tired. I did it though. I'm DETERMINED to get out of the 170s this month and getting enough exercise in is how I plan to do it as I can't cut my calories any lower without feeling too hungry.

That's how my scale seems to work too. I used to stress it, but after a year of the same pattern, I gave up worrying about.

I just seem to have lost the motivation.. Too much stress at home.. Am trying again to get back to my exercise regime..

I have also started the 30 day shred.. My 5th day and boy.. It looks so easy..but am so sore.. I count only my cardio(elliptical and running) here..so i feel like cheating if I add the 30 day shred hours here!!

Why the heck would you not add it? It's exercise! Walking the dog is exercise. I think it's important for us to realize ALL what we do and to find ways to make our lives more active in general - choosing to walk to pick up kids from school istead of driving, for instance. All of that counts - builds muscle, burns calories and helps our bones. It's not all about getting skinny - it's about living healthier

March 14 ~ I did about 25min of kickboxing, I followed this with 25min of an active stretching DVD which started with a kick series {which I had just ended with on the kicboxing dvd:dizzy:} then we went into lunges, then arms.

= 600 min

I'm joining this late, but I actually have my exercise logged on myfitnesspal! I'm sitting at just over 8 hours for the month. I need to step it up! There have been days when I've only been able to fit in 20 mins of light exercise or days we've been out of town. Time to get to it! :)

Hi all,

I haven't been here for weeks ... I've been stressed .... I have a promotion .... but it is a heap more work and stress ...

I've kept up exercising(but not nearly as much as I would like - 3-4 times a week at the most) but I'm not tracking ... and as for food .... I don't want to even think about it ...

So I'm starting again fresh ...

March 17th - Personal Training - Core work - 60 Minutes
March 18th - Cardio - 30 mins Elliptical, 20 mins Treadmill

I think April 15th is the new release for BodyPump and BodyStep at our gyms. For the lt month or so they have been mixing it up with older releases.

Melissa Yes, our gym has been mixing it up too, I'm mega excited to start this release from the beginning, bring it on! Our instructor is quite impressed with it, she says the squat track is shorter than normal, the back track is a killer, and the abs is quite different from normal, BRING IT ON!!!

This is only cardio though. I don't ever time weights and stuff since I don't wear my heart rate monitor... I need to start doing that next month!

I made the mistake of going outside and breathing. :dizzy: Since there's a fine layer of green pollen over everything my allergies have gone nuts. This happens every year about this time. I'll be back when I stop breathing like a fish out of water.

They have BodyVive, BodyStep and BodyPump at my gyms. I haven't tried the BodyVive. There's more classes I think, but for some reason they aren't offered.

There are quite a few I think. We have Pump and Attack (but attack is only on twice a week when I can't make it) I've also heard of Combat, and then RPM which Les Mills fans won't let me say is the same as Spinning!

I threw in the bodypump today since I missed it on Saturday and because I'm mad at my scale. Since I can't make it move when I want to make it move, I can at least help my body get more fit.

And I'm so glad I want to bodypump today. I haven't been to this particular class since last July - right when I started and it was eye opening. There is this woman in the class who I was right near when I started. She had so much weight on the bar! I was in awe!

Well, she was in class today and she has more weight on the bar than then (I don't remember her having the 10 kgs out before) and I realized that for almost all muscle groups I use the same weights as she does now - she's up a couple on Squats and I'm up a bit on shoulders, but other than that, we are pretty much the same with weights. I couldn't believe it. I've progressed so far in that time! So while the scale is being mean, at least I can see I'm doing something positive!

I actually haven't done the bodystep yet today, but I'm all signed up for it and I've promised my little guy we would go to that gym, so I'm kind of bound to it now and I'm looking forward to it tonight. Lots of energy today, so I might as well put it to good use.

Welcome to the thread, but good grief, don't try to squeeze in 21 hours in one week! That's 3 hours a day! Pro-rate it! :) I suggest doing 5-7 hours for this last week and start fresh in April. You don't want to get burned out or injure yourself.

Thanks! And I did bodystep too - as I said I would. Actually today was a great exercise day as I've seen how far I have come. I was the strongest looking one in step class tonight too - which is strange as that is NOT the case with most of the step classes I take -it felt great.

I don't think my weights for pump are that impressive, but they are vastly better than where I started!

For warm up I use 3.5 kg on each end.
For squats I use 10 kg on each end.
For chest I use 5 kg on each end.
For Back I use 9.5 kg on each end.
For triceps I use 5 kg on each end and 5 lbs for kick-backs if they have them.
For lunges - it depends on what we are doing, but if we use the bar, 4.5 kg on each end.
For biceps I use 3.5 kg on each end.
For Shoulders I use 3.5 kg on each end if we use the bar and 5 lbs each hand if we are using hand weights.
I do the full abs section and planks and will use a 5 kg plate if they call for it.

I started with warming up with 1 kg on each end.
Squatted with 3.5 kg on each end.
Chest was 2 kg on each end.
Back was 2.5 kg on each end.
Triceps was 2 kg on each end
lunges I couldn't even do and that's not even using a bar
Biceps I used 1 kg each end.
Shoulders I used 1 kg each end.
And I couldn't even hold a plank position.

So, my progress has been HUGE and I hope to continue progressing.

62 hrs so far + another 2 since sunday for a total of 64 hrs.
I have not been counting any weight training or 30 day shred so far since i do not count the calories burnt during that.. Since usually cardio machines are supposed to be a little off !! So I think for calorie counting purpose, I use that as a buffer!! But makes sense for minutes worked out... Well its been a pretty bad month on the personal front.. Usually when I have a tough time... I just seem to give every thing up...trying hard to get moving...
I can hear a voice in my head telling me to get going... But the rest of me just does not care...
Glad that I did a fair amount of hrs in jan and feb.. So lets see!!!

Melissa Wow, what an improvement! I can see why you are proud, how long have you been doing Pump for, and how many days a week? At the moment I squat with 5s, back with 3.5s, chest and any arms on the bar with 2.5s and I've just upped to 2s when using dumbells on the shoulders/arms. I'd love to think one day I'll be strong enough to keep on upping the weights, bring it on!

Loseit I so hear you with the battle to keep going, and deciding to listen to that voice inside your head or not. Don't be disheartened, you've got a great total year to date, and by the sounds of it have done a lot more besides with your weights and 30 day shred. I hope April is a great month for you :)

Congrats everyone! That is awesome! I feel this is the first fitness goal that I am going to achieve and it's only been a week :). I'm going to keep going in April though.

30 minutes to go woohoo! Tonight was tough - while I felt so strong on Monday - I was fighting fatigue today. I guess every day is different, huh?

We all are doing so great this month! Way to go everyone! Do you think having longer days with sunlight and warmer weather helps you? It's definitely helping me!

Takingcontrol Yah, my improvement is huge. Tonight I wasn't the one with the heaviest stuff on the bar, but I was pushing myself. It felt harder today - probably because my body is still repairing from Monday.

loseit I can't believe you don't count weight training and 30 day shred in your exercise total. You do realize that is exercise and probably even more valuable than the cardio, right?

Nooooooo today it all went wrong! I got home from uni, was getting my stuff ready for hydro jogging and a pre session conventional jog around the park, when my mum called. They're on holiday in their campervan at the moment, and managed to lock themselves out with the keys and dog inside. So I had to drive an hour away to meet my dad who got a lift with a friend staying at the same site.

So, I missed my class, by the time I got home it was dark and I was starving, so I forced myself to do a hard 20 minutes here, then ate and now I'm exhausted!

I have an hour pump tomorrow, and will set my alarm to do my C25K before it, and add an extra 10 minutes in somewhere, I WILL MAKE THIS TARGET!!!

Well, I haven't been on here for a while, life has been chaotic, hard to find time to exercise, even harder to record it. I think I'm back on track now. I estimate that I have done a total of 53 hours from January-March. I'm thinking that I may actually have done more if I count all of the times I did a major deep cleaning or gardening without recording it. I may drop it down to 50 just to be safe that I'm not overestimating, but I think it is fairly accurate. So, I guess I'm only about 10 hours short. Not too bad. Hopefully, April will be a better month and I can catch up.
