You are probably right that dh needs to be in the hospital. Sure hope they can get him free of his fungal infection. Think I'd pass on the dog grooming till some other time also especially with this big prediction of snow.

Laura,
Ouch on that pulled muscle. Sounds like you have things planned for the week end.

Annie
Wow, Are you cleaning the condo from top to bottom? Hope she pays you before she leaves.

Mel
Glad you and doc had a good one on one talk. Just do as he says.

----
Didn't get outside yesterday. I slept most of the afternoon. Think that virus sent my body into being super tired. And today it's a normal super windy March day.
Going out to get myself a cheese burger and salad.
I'm working for a co-worker tomorrow. I need to get a lot done today.

Hi ladies,

Nanook of the North reporting in. We didn't lose power but had enough blips that I was not comfortable being on the computer much. They don't have any decent surge protectors in town so we will have to make a road trip later on.

Shad - thank you for starting the new thread. The time is really flying by - hard to believe another month rolled in. I'm glad because it means spring is coming soon. I am getting a bit tired of winter white. I hope you are getting better sleep and not running at 200 percent as usual.

Michelle - it sure does sound that DH is needing some intensive medical help by now. I REALLY hope there is a doctor who can do something for him. A cough is one thing but this shortness of breath and tiredness is scary. I really hope you don't get the snow they are predicting - neither of you is in a position to deal with it. Hope that a neighbor can help you guys out. We only did a narrow path to the road - the cable on the plow broke in the middle of plowing and DH had to go out and get parts. It was so heavy he didn't think he'd be able to do it. It's been a light powder all winter but they say this time of year it gets wet and heavy like that. Please be careful. Sending good wishes for both of you. I guess I need to light a candle for you since good thoughts ain't doing the trick!

Laura - thanks for the exercise ball exercises (and the warnings). Somewhere in the garage I have one of those. DH used one of those foam rollers in therapy. We tried the tennis ball - not as good as the roller. And just in case you were wondering, we tried those "swimming pool foam noodle things" and they don't work either - too small and squishy - you need something more firm. Sorry to hear about the movie group breaking up. So BF's a movie house talker - sorry but that's a peeve of mine along with people who text during the movie with the backlight on their phone. As for the ladies complaining about him - some people are goofy - they want their girls night out and are quite adamant about it. I didn't quite understand it myself. I dropped out of book club because it was mostly moms who talked more about their kids, schools and complaining / gossiping about other moms more than talking about the book. One lush ... I mean lady admitted that she never once read one of the books and only came to get loaded on the wine Your group saw alot of movies and if BF likes them too he'd miss out on a lot if you excluded him so you are probably better off on your own. It's hard to find people who have very similar interests to your own. Hope you enjoy the band this weekend.

Mel, Mel, Mel. I think the doctor was trying to gently warn you that you are getting more delicate and it's getting harder to recover from a knock down. So be more careful. Just so you don't feel too bummed about it, I am the same way - bones are not as strong as they once were - had to think twice about trudging through thigh high snow to get to the bird feeder - easy to twist over and snap my leg in two. Also get more stiff legged and nervous about walking on slippery things. Which is why I truly don't understand young girls wearing these sky high shoes today. My sister has also gotten paranoid about being around allergens and sick people - she is prone to bronchitis and each bout lasts longer and hits her harder than the last one. I had to laugh at your houndes of hades remark I can only imagine the tenants getting so excited to see you - like a bunch of 3 year olds given a massive sugar overload. I think this is just God's way of getting you out from under the mess downstairs. From now on you can be the creative director instead of chief cook and bottle washer. I'll bet you are getting a bit antsy to get out tho...

Annie - what a fun evening babysitting. I loved your comment about sending them home spoiled - - that really is the best part Glad that one of the stressors is moving to another part of the country to torment. 4 hours to clean - she should have given you $200 bucks I think unless you just have to sweep and mop. But hey, it's nice money. Keep a little for yourself.

Ceejay - did I read right and you were supposed to get dumped on with snow? Enjoy those sloth days - spring is almost around the corner and you'll be too busy out and about to want to hang around the house.

I need to spend some money before DH spends it all. I am looking at replacing the old dishwasher. It's the original that came with the house - 2002 model Whirlpool. Having a septic tank it's really important that we conserve how much water we put down the drain and into the septic and I know this one is not energy efficient and it cleans basic dishes ok but doesn't do such a great job on the casserole dishes. We have gone with Whirlpool 3 times already - they are highly rated but as they get more energy efficient the wash cycle goes longer (3 hours in some cases from wash to dry). That's not such a big deal except they don't dry as hot as they used to so when the cycle is over, dishes are still wet and you get condensation on the inside of the tub. So I am reluctant to go to our "go to" usual model. The Bosch brand is highly rated but it costs almost $1,000 and I am having a hard time justifying twice the price. I'd like to replace our microwave too. It's only 900 watts and there are some things that just won't cook right in there. Money is only going to get tighter after this year so we are trying to get the last of what we need most now. And I really need a haircut an color. Been doing my own hair and it's too dark and really needs some highlights. Plus it's the longest it's been in years. Too long to do anything much more than a ponytail and I don't want to walk around like that because I don't have the pretty face you need to pull off walking around with no hair framing your face. I was going to save the beauty shop until next month for a birthday treat but I don't know if I will make it that long. I also need to make a doctor's appointment so I can change out (and maybe get off) this blood pressure medicine that is making me cough alot. Bettter get busy. Happy Friday all - safe trip home Shad and Michelle - rest up and please keep us posted on DH's prognosis - right now there is a hole in the snow storm around your town - hope it stays off your property

Michelle - I hope you get someone to help with the snow removal, otherwise, just shovel out two paths for the tires to exit the garage!! I hope all goes well with dh's appointment today and that this will finally, at long last, be the thing that gets him on the road to recovery. And if he needs to be admitted so that he doesn't get so rundown that other things start going wrong, then that's the thing to do! :

Ceejay - Oh, how could I forget - March - in like a lion, out like a lamb!!

Happy - Yeh, I figured those foam rollers must be very dense and firm to support one's weight and therefore be effective. It's not really the movie group breaking up - it's just me breaking up with it, LOL. Yeh, I myself still get annoyed with bf talking during movies, tv, etc. The dvr is a blessing because I can pause and/or rewind whenever he starts talking over the tv. Then he gets annoyed when I keep the tv paused and give him a look like, "are you sure you're done talking?" That said, I do look forward to seeing more movies with bf and on my own, and only having at most one other person to consider when selecting what to see. As for book club, yes there are a couple women who frequently don't bother to read the book and just attend to eat, drink and gossip...

I hope you find a happy medium with your dishwasher. I never really like using the drying feature. Our old one had a separate on/off for that feature, but our current one does not, although you can just turn off the dishwasher at that point. We have a Miele and it was pricey, but the less expensive model we originally wanted was a bit too tall to fit into our spot under the counter. But I have to say this is a very good machine, though we are light users, and we tend to rinse well (and then we use the economy setting). Yeh, I'd say a more powerful microwave is in order.

So...you're not willing to try out the local beauty salons to see how they do? It would be great for you to get off the bp med! The past three weeks or so my bp has been elevated and now I'm wondering if when I take my readings to my doc next week if she'll want to increase my meds! My levels went up during the holidays but then dropped back, and now they're up again! Grrr.

Quick update after the seeing the lung surgeon. The surgeon wants to wait until after a biopsy before he changes the course of treatment that DH is currently on. That way they'll know for sure what they're dealing with.

The biopsy is tentatively scheduled for Monday 3/19. It's more invasive than a needle biopsy, they have to do an incision between the ribs and remove a piece of lung tissue roughly the size of a small Chicken McNugget. He'll be in the hospital at least one night and possibly two nights. I'm hoping to be able to work from home for the remainder of the week to look after him. He'll need to be off work from 2-4 weeks to heal, but should be able to look after himself after the first few days at home.

I wish they could get him in sooner...or give him some other meds to get him better faster. But this is the earliest they could do the biopsy and once they get the biopsy results, they can determine if he should see another pulmonologist, or an infectious disease specialist.

I'll post more this weekend. If the snow isn't too deep tomorrow (under 5" or so), I may just let it stay on the driveway since it's going to get into the 50s by Tuesday.

Much love to all,

Michelle - hoping for the best for DH. Poor guy has been sick for so long.

So far work has been quiet and I hope it stays that way the rest of the day and tomorrow also.

My sister from Tx called. Talked to her for awhile. She was wanting a family get together for her birthday in Orlando, Fl. But the kiddo's have over ruled and are going to the Smokey Mountains in July. Wish I could go but I'm not driving that far by myself. Kinda dreading the drive next week end to Missouri. She'll be 65 in September. Everyone is making plans to be there.

Mel
The wind was really bad here yesterday. Went in to pick up my cheeseburger and could barely close the door. I shouldn't have been outside myself but I had to go pay the rent.

Guess I need to finish February's report.

Mel
Wish I could get settle in and rest for awhile.

Happy Saturday all,

Last night was my cousin's wife's birthday. Made her a lite cherry pie. We were going to go out for pizza but they are tired of pizza so being Friday, we went out to a local fish fry. It was good. Had a few drinks at the bar too. All bars have these sort of slot machines that you can play. Things got quiet so I stuck 5 dollars in one - wasn't sure what I was doing but I thought I maybe hit a jackpot. Turns out I won $200. I played 20 more on the house's money and had a good time. It was a nice evening out - at least this time I could hear everyone talking unlike karaoke night It's been snowing lightly since last night - we got almost 3 inches of new snow but it's the light powdery stuff so not too bad to deal with. I think I'm going to buckle down and get a few things done around the house - plus I have 2 gardening books to read and return to the library this week. DH is doing taxes, as soon as I get off here I'm going through my papers to see if I have anything to add to the pile.

Mel - you don't even have to wash dishes for me to put you up for a visit. Just let me know ahead of time as I will have to have DH build some chair ramps. I'm glad you are being a good girl at home and let Jen get some restful sleep. Have a good weekend.

Shad - sounds like you are off kilter a bit. Is it the change in seasons or just the job that needs to come to an end? Enjoy the footy games.

Michelle - I know how worried you must be about DH. That's a bummer that they have to cut him to get the biopsy but hopefully he can get a more definitive course of treatment. Soon. Very soon. 5 inches is a lot of snow but if it's just going to melt down, I'd leave it considering that neither of you are in any shape to shovel right now.

Laura - actually I like the drying part the best on the dishwasher they get so hot I figure that they HAVE to be sanitized! I will probably do the same thing that I did with the upright freezer - look at reviews and then keep my eye on prices. Sears seems to have to same prices most of the time - 10 percent off on non Sears brands and an extra 5 percent off if you use your Sears card. We don't have many other choices besides that - Best Buy is in Duluth - not sure what they charge for delivery. At least I don't have to hurry. Perhaps you should keep a journal with your BP to try and determine if your fluctuations are due to something specific - stress or food or if they just fluctuate. I hope they don't bump them up on you.

Hi Ceejay - hope you have a quiet day at work today.

Talk to you later...

I literally have the best neighbors ever. Late last night, my neighbor across the street who owns an ATV with a plow attachment came over and cleared the driveway. God bless him. We're going to give him a case of beer (Wisconsin barter system) and a gift card to a restaurant for him and his family.

I don't know why, but I'm really exhausted today. I think I'm still run down from the bronchitis and the stress of this week doesn't help. I'm going to go take a nap.

Much love,

Morning all,
Looks like we might get some sun today - at least for a while. Been raining most of the day yesterday. Which reminds me, I need to go get the indoor plants back in or they will cook out there today.

DB1 rung me yesterday. As per normal, I don't here from either of the brothers unless they want something and sure enough he is having computer trouble. So like a dutiful sister I said I would go over this morning and take a look. Problem is that his computer is so old that it probably won't load the stuff that he is trying to do.

DS2 still hasn't finished the shed and is getting the hurry up so relations are not always easy at the moment either. DS1 is still waiting for results from the tests done to see if the baby is all present and correct and we can TALK about it. Problem is that if all is not right, then it is getting to the too late stage to do anything about it. All I ask is that they don't tell me the sex because I don't want to know.

Michelle - I really hope that somehow they can bring the appointment forward for DH and you can start to work out the answers. That description he gave on facebook was truly awful. Poor man. Keep at the medico's and see if they can't fit him in sooner. Squeaky wheels get the most oil and all that stuff hey?

Happy - all that snow. Hope you survive it all. Dishwashers are an interesting breed. Mine is a set of dishdrawers (2). You can buy them stacked to fit in a normal diswasher space or singly so you can fit them where a couple of drawers or half a cupboard used to be. The singles are good apparently for bad backs and pregnant women because you don't have to bend to pack them. They are mean with water, have 4 or 5 cycles types and are generally very efficient. And even better, they have a good online maintenance page. DS could fix my one himself after I overflowed it and sent the machine into an electronic mindspin. They aren't cheap but then you get what you pay for and these will last me for sometime to come.

Annie - our happy chappie. Hope you got over the MI induced illness I'm sure you will earn each and every one of those $150 cleaning. My place is in need of a good clean. Sure you don't want to come over and set it to rights for me as well?

Ceejay - take a plane or a train or a bus to the nearest city and hire a car to get to the birthday. You only have one family and it is a shame to miss a reunion.

Laura - Times happen when you have to move on from a club or a gathering. Things change, people try to take control etc.etc. and we need to reassess our priorities. Maybe you should try to roll over the dogs toys as well to fix the problem.

Hiya Mel, position is such at the moment that I probably will not be able to talk to you now for at least the next two weeks. Try to keep out of trouble for a while will you and I will tell you when I am next home. Should be around 18th/ 19th but don't bet on it. Sheez I think I should have been more forceful with March in the title. I was going to. I like Annies 'Movin' our Muck outta March'. should have thought of it myself.

Anyway, off to the salt mines. Things to do, bits to clean, brothers to sort out. I may be back later in the day from the airport - but then again.............

Afternoon all. Just a quick pop in to say hi. Had my blood draw this morning, then a stop at the market since I had time before the exercise class. The class was "Body Blast" - strength/toning. With my sore hammies, I wasn't thrilled with the amount of squats & lunges, and she used the sliding discs too. Meh. But it was exercise, and between that and the dog walk just now, I'm done for. Doing laundry too, so I'm getting some stair time as well.

Speaking of stairs - meant to mention last weekend's charity event - Hustle up the Hancock. The male winner did it in under 10 min. & the female in under 11. 94 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS!!!

Okay I think bf is almost ready for lunch, so I'll get this posted & maybe slap on a bit of makeup. Back for personals tomorrow.

Cheers!

Morning,
Feeling a bit nauseated this morning. I hope it passes soon.
I've decided to cancel my trip to Mo and concentrate on me this week end. Will not be going to Paragould either.
May look into a job opening at the doc's office.
I'm in the spring cleaning mode at home and would like to get it finished. I may go in May.

Mel
Love the graphic.

Laura
That's good time for the winners. 94 stairs

Michelle
It's good to have neighbors that are willing to help.

Hi ladies,

Was looking at the weather and I noticed an alert in Memphis I have never seen in all the years I've been there - fire alert - gusty winds and really dry conditions making for a potentially rapid burning - explosive they said - fire situation. Geez as if the earthquake potential and tornadoes weren't enough. And people wondered why we moved out of there I hope this does not extend up your way Ceejay. I thought you guys got doused with lots of rain lately. Sorry to hear that you are feeling poorly Ceejay - hope a day of rest gets you feeling back to yourself. Sounds like you are still trying to decide what path you want your future to take - it's not easy to decide and sometimes you can over think it.

Mel - I admit I was a bit disappointed to hear that you took the alarms back. Although I'm sure you know what you are doing and it is probably stressing out Jen covering for you, isn't it? Just as long as you put yourself first, above all else. Glad you liked my finding my Joy again (and we aren't talking Shad ) - it was something a friend told me a few weeks ago and it stuck on me. Several people have told me (including you guys) that I am happy again like I used to be. I am. I love your dinosaur joke this morning I would get lost on websites looking for the morning graphic and never get here

Although I do have to admit that it snowed lightly ALL DAY LONG and at this point I am getting a bit tired of it. Come on spring! I think we are supposed to get some warming later on in the week so maybe some of this will melt back a bit. We walked a little bit into the property to get to the bird feeders out back. It is pretty with the trees and snow - I had the urge to camp out but it passed quickly We have these little red pine squirrels - Red Buttons in squirrel form for those of you old enough to remember him. They were screaming like chimpanzees at DH invading their territory. They obviously don't know who they are messing with.

Laura - my muscles ache just reading your post! A few years back I did a pledge for a girl at 3FC who did the Hustle Up the Hancock challenge. Besides 94 flights of stairs I can't imagine old claustophobic me in an interior stairwell with crowds of people running (all past me no doubt). But I do admire those with the fortitude to do it. Was wondering how people trained too. I've been out of downtown and big buildings for over 10 years and when I left buildings had locked the interior stairwell access doors long before that as a security threat because thieves were sneaking in from the ground floor, going up the stairs and then sneaking into offices and stealing wallets, laptops and purses. So you go in the stairwell and get locked in

Shad - sounds like your world is a bit stressed at the moment everywhere you turn. This backyard shed is taking longer than the Taj Mahal to build! DH and I went to a fancy appliance store out here looking at wood stoves one day and I came across the dishwasher drawers that you have - even the brand you have - starts with a F I think? I could not imagine how they were from your description but once I could see it, they are really pretty neat. And you aren't kidding about pricey I think perhaps because that would be considered so cutting edge out here. Most of the folks that live in town are regular everyday people like us but we hear there is ALOT of money up this way too, particularly the homes that sit on the lakefront property and they are the ones who frequent the expensive appliance store. Anyway I digress and hope you have a quieter week ahead of you. Sounds like you need a getaway weekend - short break away from the madness for a bit.

Michelle - saw your post on FB about DH. My prayers are with both of you that they can get him on the road to recovery. So glad that one of your neighbors stepped up and helped out with the snow.

Annie - did you have a wonderful time babysitting? I'm sure you did.

Turtle.

I need to get my butt in gear. DH says we need new washcloths and I have a 30 percent off Kohls coupon and they are having a sale. So we will take a drive into the next town and go shopping - him to the home improvement store - me to Kohls. Maybe I can convince him to stop at the Chinese Buffet for lunch - I am jonesing for Chinese food and they have some nice non fried selections.

Have a good Sunday chicks.
