30-Somethings - Trying to Get away from 200

View Full Version : Trying to Get away from 200

Ok, there are threads that say getting out of 180s or 240s or whatever..
I was sooo ecstatic to finally meet ONEDERLAND, that I'm hovering way too close to 200, up a couple lbs, down a couple lbs. I just want a good buffer so I never have to see it again ;( I guess it's normal weight loss 1.5 - 2 lbs a week, with flucuations, but I'm dying to be NOWHERE near that dang number again. Anyway, this is really, really messing with my head. I've worked out so hard to speed up seeing this buffer and now I've got an (small) injury. Anyone else have issues with the head games that number is causing? How do I chill or should I chill? Don't know what to do to get my head where it needs to be and let my body do what it needs to do..

Aww, I know exactly how you feel ... I'm also injured and hovering around a weight I don't really like.

I will say ... I'm on WW, and after my second week of struggling, the receptionist told me to make sure I was tracking EVERYTHING. And to get in as good of a workout as I could.

Even after three days, my head is on straighter and I feel like I'm over the hump -- and I'm (grudgingly) working around my injury.

I'm at 201.7 today. I can't wait until I'm out and completely under.

Shan, haha! the story of my life 'grudgingly working around or towards ... ' :)
DrivenByAmbition, not too much longer, you ARE SO CLOSE!
thanks for the replies ladies :)

I'm in the same boat, no worries... We just have to keep going and eventually we will be far away. I find that once I was to 199, my jump was to 201. And then I was to 198 and my jump was to 200, and then 197 was to 199... and now that I'm at 196, I jumped water weight today up to 198, so... Its a pattern and I know itll go away soon. :D

We just gotta keep going!! :carrot:

I know exactly how that feels. I hovered at 204 for the longest time and it took a while to drop under 200 and then I'd bounce back up then down again. Now I'm doing the exact same thing at 190. I'm below it, I'm over it. Below it, over it. With me, I think I get into some sort of self-destructive comfort zone where I don't stick to my diet well enough. But I really want to see the scale drop under 190 permanently and I need to get my head in the game and stick to healthy foods and my exercise program.

You'll get there. Sometimes it just takes a small tweak. To get under 200, I cut carbs for about 8 weeks. Not completely, but at least by half if not a bit more. That was a trick my doctor suggested, and I went from 204 to 190 in 8 weeks. Take a look at your diet and exercise program and see if there's one thing in there you could try tweaking, would be my suggestion.

I'm at 204 and can not WAIT to see 199. It's funny, because I started at 213, and it's like it's not official weight loss until it's under 200. I'm ALMOST down 10lbs. But I doesn't feel like it counts w/out those last 3lbs gone. I'm just trying to stick to my eating plan, and getting the exercise in. I've been giving myself gold star stickers on the calendar every day I've exercised. And it helps me to see the visual progress. It all leads to bigger and better things if added up over time. I just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other and I'll get there...

I could have written this myself!! I just want to get away from 200!! It's just a little too close for comfort for me! For some reason I thought once I got into the 190's it would be so much easier - instead I have bounced back and forth over the same 3 lbs and it's driving me crazy!!

Keep you head up. Try uping you water intake and eliminate sugar and caffine for a couple days. It might just give you the jump start you need. I too am hovering around 200 and there are days I want to beat the scale into submission. It will all come in time. Everyday is one day closer and with every step (injured or not) you just lapped the people still on their couches. Good luck!

I have a terrible habit of not liking what I see on the scale then not getting back on the scale. As if I can pretend that number isn't real if I don't have to look at it. I weighed myself for the first time in over 5 years, then again a week later, despite my hard work and dedication I had gained 2 lbs. Ugh! It's been weeks and I can't bring myself to do it again. Mean while, my husband has visible changes, happy for him & disappointed for me. It will come, slow but sure, it will just take time.

Thanks guys for all your support and advice :)
I'm pretty good about no sugar or caffeine, so what else is there, no carbs?
I can't believe there are carbs in everything, even yogurt. crazy!
Well, I have made it over the hump, it just took some time :) woohoo!
But I thank you guys so much for guiding me there

I so want to see the 200's in my rearview mirror. I am planning to start calorie counting on Sunday staying between 1200 and 1400. I am going to combine p90x with zumba for exercise. I really hope this does the trick this time. I will admit that I got lazy after Christmas but, I am ready to get back at this weight loss. Good luck all of you struggling with putting 200 in the past.

That's exactly what I'm doing (1200 cals with zumba and various weights and cardio multiple times a week) and I have to say, it has given me a pretty consistent weight loss. I'm 195, but I want to be further away from 200 ;) I think we are never really satisfied, I heard getting out of 190s is going to be another mental block for us.. hopefully another month or so :) and we'll be talking about getting away from 190!!

I was having a hard time dropping below 222 for some reason. I FINALLY got to 118 this week at my weigh in, I was ecstatic to be below the 220 mark. However I weighed myself this morning and am 221 again. I have to admit my heart sank a bit. I guess I just have to keep on going at it, and stop weighing myself so much. It's just such an addiction!!!

ITA - I'm at 198.6 so I feel like I'm teethering right now, I want to be at least 15lbs under 200 so that I can feel like I'm really floating there
I don't predict it happening until sometime in July, provided I don't backslide, pray for me that I don't lol

This! Or if you aren't lifting weights/resistance training, try adding that into your exercise routine. When I shake up my exercise a little bit I tend to drop weight.

If you're injured though, take a break for a week because that little injury can end up a BIG injury. I had muscle pain really bad last fall from doing a lot of leg work and jogging intervals last fall. I took breaks but it wouldn't go away..it would start up every time I'd start jogging again. My dr. said the muscle fatigue made my bones have to work harder and I ended up with a stress fracture in my femur. Couldn't really do much for leg work the last two and a half months. Talk about frustrating!!! Take it easy and work on diet (easy for me to say, lol...it's a huge struggle for me too!). Good luck!!!!

I feel the same way as everyone here... I really want the 200s to be a very distant memory... I seem to keep coming back here, and its getting me down. Now I am starting over again, and I am at 201... Its a dream, but one that will happen. I think I will need to be nearly 50lbs away from the 200, before I start to feel like I am really away...

So here we go again:) This time with more weight training and less pasta!!

04-16-2012, 03:04 AM
You know what? I had to stop the stressing over it. Stop thinking and worrying about it and just keep on keeping on ;) and finally i'm safely below and now trying to get out of the 180s :) everyone here has such great advice!!! I honestly don't know where I'd be without 3FC!!!

I am getting back on the band wagon to losing weight and I need support. I was doing very well for two years and did go from 260 to 208 but then I stopped exercising, eating nutrisystem, and taking the diet pills I was on. I baloooned back up. I am not the worse eater but not the best either. I love chocolate and can't not eat it when it is in front of me. I live with two other chococholics, which doesn't help the situation. I have gotten so frustrated with doing the yo-yo. I can't seem to get out of the 200s. I am getting back into exercising and watching what I eat but have not lost any weight yet. I trying to stay optimistic but it is hard. I tryin to think of my health but it is hard. I don't like to cook so I need simply things I can eat. Plus I get home late at night and don't want to eat too much. For two years, I ate salads so I am pretty much tired of salads. Can anyone else feel my pain?

05-08-2012, 02:02 PM
I am at 203 and can't wait to be below the 200 mark. I haven't been below 195 since before 2009 so that is my ultimate goal. Just have to keep going and stay positive!! It will come for all of us. And remember, if you fall off the wagon today, jump on this site and there will always be someone to pull you back on. Don't beat yourself up as today is a new day!!!

05-08-2012, 06:35 PM
Samantie, you are so close!! you're gonna make it :)

I'm at 227 right now; I can't wait to be under 200!

After wasting another year or so, I've gotten back onto my weight loss plan. I got down to 191 about 3 years ago...haven't been below 200 in at least a year now.

I weighed in at 206.2 this morning- I hope to be below 200 by 7/7- it's achievable. I actually work out quite a bit (run 10-15 miles a week, pilates at least once a week and then walking my dog here and there) but it's not enough to combat what I've been eating REALLY trying to cut most of the sugar, diet pop, fried foods etc
