S/C/G: 224.5

Height: 5'10"

Default I'm 59 yrs old, need to lose 50 lbs to help control the pain of degenerative discs

I am 59 years old, 5'10" tall and my starting weight is 224.5. My usual weight is aroud 190, but that is still overweight. My goal is to get down to 173 because my weight is contributing to the pain of degenerative disc disease. I gained 30 pounds when I started having to take the meds I am prescribed (I get sick if I don't eat!), but now that's been about 3 years so I should know how to get around that by now.
I'm excited to make new friends and share the weight loss journey with all of you.

Hi there,

I'm 5'11" and 55 years old, so not too different. I lost 50 pounds last year, going from 195 to 145, so I'm here to tell you it can be done. (It wasn't actually that hard, once I made the initial decision.) A year ago I wouldn't have believed it if someone had told me I would voluntarily set my alarm several times per week to get to 6 a.m. fitness classes, but for the first time in my life I'm actually enjoying exercise. In weight class, I get a real kick out of being able to lift heavier weights than women half my age.

Best of luck on your journey, and come hang out in some of the subforums.
