It's me. I have the best husband :D

Mr. GI Joe got home from his field training yesterday. He was in a pretty good mood because he spent the week shooting a machine gun from the turret  He spent all night being super sweet and just all around generally fabulous. The vacuum crapped the bed while he was out so he promised to take me to buy a new one this weekend since we got our tax return and can afford to be a little frivolous. So, cut to this morning. We head out to the post exchange, figuring we'll get the same vacuum we did last time. It's pretty cheap and lasted us a good six months, which is longer than the other vacuums we've had thanks to our 3 shedding fur babies. He went to grab a vacuum while I tooled around in electronics, playing with tablets since I miss my old iPad something awful.

Anyway, hubs terms comes strolling into electronics with a vacuum but it's not the Bissell I was expecting, oh no!

It's a DYSON.

I almost peed my pants. I may have also uttered a girlish shriek and danced a little. I have always wanted a Dyson. They're like my dream come true. Vacuuming has never been so wonderful. I'm pretty sure my carpet is a different color now than it was before my Dyson came into my life. I'm so happy I could vomit. :dancer:

Anyhoo, I'm drooling over the vacuum and then husband says "Did you want to buy a new iPad? When I deploy we can get a second one and use them to Skype."

And so then I jumped his bones right there. :whoo:

Okay  not really but I kind of wanted to.

So, basically, my husband showered me with presents today and has been very full of niceness. He probably wants to buy a new gun or something and is just buttering me up, but I like it!

Either that or he wanted cleaner carpets and an excuse to buy an iPad before he deploys.

Or he just loves me.

I'm gonna go with that last one :)

What a great shopping trip! I broke down and bought a used Kirby last fall. I had cleaned my carpets over Labor Day weekend and let's just say it was horrifying how gross my carpet really was. Enjoy your goodies and show the hubby some appreciation tonight. Hint, hint ;)

If I had to pick between the iPad and the vacuum, I would take my Dyson. I have vacuumed my entire apartment and I am following the dogs around and vacuuming behind them. They think I'm crazy but it is so worth it :D I haven't had a fur free living space since....well, ever!

It's really nice to finally have a good vacuum. When we first got to Oklahoma we went through 2 vacuums in 6 months. Then we had our last one for a little over 6 months...here's to hoping this Dyson lasts! It's a tough job cleaning up after our big dog though...he's a lab/German shepherd mix and he sheds so much I'm surprised he's not bald yet

We have two cats and one EXTREMELY sheddy dog (we don't know what she is. Part husky? Part Golden Retriever? All I know is that she has a coat 4-6 inches long that you can see flying off of her in a cloud every time she shakes herself off), and our Dyson has lasted 3 years and counting.

I LOVE vacuuming! (sick, I know!) I have a small black dog, and two long-haired cats. One of my cat literally leaves hair everywhere he goes! Thank goodness for awesome vacuums!! Congrats on your awesome purchases! Enjoy!

hehe no the IPad makes me drool too. I just got one ... okay it was a hand-me-down from my geeky partner who bought herself a super duper Mac Air and, to her, the Ipad became irrelevant.

But then, to be fair, I hate housework and hoovering is particularly obnoxious to me. It ranks just below ironing. Hmmm, come to think of it, I could use a new iron.

PS: I do have a dyson, or hoovering would rank above ironing on the hate list.

:carrot: OUTSTANDING! :carrot:

God bless our TROOPS....and their wives!

Angie and I have a Dyson and love it....

we also have 2 golden retrievers and it's almost embarrassing :o how much hair and dirt I vacuum up each Saturday while my wife is at church for bell choir practice.

Yes, that's right I said I vacuum....

my wife has the best husband! ;)

For animals that shed, I can't recommend a furminator enough. One of my cats has a thick, dense, undercoat...like a plushy rabbit. When I use the furminator on her, I get like...an entire shoebox full of hair. I figure any hair I brush off her, isn't wafting across my hard wood floors like little hair tumbleweeds. (it doesn't work on my Siamese at all, his fur is different, no undercoat).

Glory, we have one! Our dog has grooming phobia (she's a rescue, it's her last big hangup from the abusive home she came from), so we can only use it in a limited capacity. If I pull out enough treats, though, I can usually get a good ball of hair off her.

Now that I've had to go over and vacuum the entire apartment again (really not loving my big dog and his shedding at the moment!) I am starting to like the iPad more too  I just realized my school has an app for it so I can read my book and submit my homework via iPad, which is really neat. Also, I downloaded some free games so I haven't put the thing down much today :D

She's a lucky lady! My husband will only vacuum if I'm cleaning up to prepare to have a bunch of his friends over. Even then he whines and complains the whole time  I do try to let it go though since I'm a housewife so technically the chores are my "job" Still, it's nice to catch a break every now and then. He gets four day weekends at least once a month. He could use that time off to help me :D

I want a furminator. It might be our next purchase. It won't do any good on our mini aussie because he's a little wiggle butt. He barely sits still long enough to get pat on the head, much less for a good brushing. Our lab mix likes to lay down and get brushed though, so it would help with him and he's the main problem. On the plus side he goes to the groomer next weekend so I should get a good 24 hours with minimal shedding!

:) My wife and I both work and actually, as I move closer to retirement and the economy taking it's hold on construction, sometimes she works more being a full time teacher. We have always shared the household and yard duties...of course when the kids lived here we got a bit of a break with them assigned chores ;)

Nowadays, we split the cooking, I do the laundry except for her frilly things, we share the kitchen duties, she does the bathrooms upstairs and I do mine downstairs....I never dust ;) but she loves to with her Blasters rockin' on the Bose :)

I know my wife always found ways to  trade  help with the chores....from reading your OP I know you know how to also ;)

be good

i can't wait until we can afford dysons and ipads. lol. we're making due with old computers, cheapy smart phones, and a eureka vacuum. yay for living on loans while the hubby finishes grad school. my two fur babies (10 pound tortie cats) leave a lovely layer of black and orange fur on everything, which is why the bedroom is a kitty-free zone. it's always great when the hubby knows what you want and takes care of it for you.

we can't really afford it right now, but i know after he graduates i will get gifts all the time. he did it before he started school and told me he feels bad about only spending 6 bucks for valentine's day this year.

hope the ipad makes his deployment easier for both of you! i know how hard it is doing the long distance thing. :)

Oooooo!!!! I would LOVE a dyson!!! (four fur-babies! 2 dogs/2 cats - all major shedders!!! we go thru vacuum cleaners like a baby goes thru diapers!)

And I'm probably the only person here who couldn't care less for an iPad. or iPhone. I'm not into "i" stuff.
