Okay here's the drill. :drill: Calculate the number of minutes that you will exercise for the full month of March, post them here, then each day or week you take your remaining balance, subtract the minutes that you exercised and post your new balance. (ex 210-30=180 next day start with 180-30=150) Simple but it's a great tool for keeping us on track. All are welcome, so come on and give it a try.


:bravo: To all of our gals that stayed with it the entire month of February! Even if the total minutes weren't met we are still winners because we didn't give up. Sometimes things happen and we fall, but just dust yourself off and jump right back in. No one here will ever be disappointed in you, because this is a challenge for you by you.

My pledge is 910 minutes for March. 31 days, less five Mondays (my day off) times 35 minutes per day, equals 910 total.

OK Semo I am so shamed by your amazing consistancy that I got my butt to the gym today. I will pledge 1480 for the month for me.

3 days at 60 minutes of weights and cardio and 3 days of cardio only. Sunday off. Gotta start somewhere.

3/1: 1480-60=1420 to go

P.S. while I was being a slug I managed not to gain and not to lose.

Im just starting out with all this excercise stuff..plus i have a job and school to interfere with my weight loss goals.. so Im going to say my number for March is 680, I worked out 30 minutes today so my number now is 650. :)

btw this is a very clever idea

I finished February with 830 minutes so I'm going to try (again) for 1000 in March. March is a bit longer so I should be able to do it.

I work in a bakery. blah. yeah high school, college next year though, which will just make it that much harder, im sure :(
its good if i create good habits while i still can though.

well i walked on the treadmill 20 minutes, ran 10 so thats another 30 down, so 620 to go.

does anyone know if working out at night had bad side effects? my mother said I shouldnt do it, but was very vague about the whole thing. any ideas?

Kitty, I'm no expert but I don't know why you wouldn't be able to exercise at night unless you are unable to go to sleep afterwards. Just allow yourself some down time before going to bed and I think you will be find.

Hello everyone!
It is already the 7th of March, so I will set an exercise goal for the rest of the month, starting today:
850 minutes is my goal for the rest of the month...about 35 minutes a day-my exercise varies per day, because I have an hour dance class each week, my strength training days average about 45 minutes, and my cardio or yoga days last about 30 minutes...hopefully this will average them out and I will meet goal!

Thanks for the welcome SEMO, I have seen you around here as well...my workout schedule is pretty varied. I do this for a few reasons...I weight train my full body on Mondays and Fridays-to allow for the minimum 48 hours of rest needed between weight training all body parts-with the exception of the abs, which can be strenght trained daily. I do a session of Pilates on Wednesdays-which is giving extra work on my abs, as well as strengthening and stretching my back-it has done wonders for me, as I used to have chronic back pain. I have an hour bellydance class each week on Tuesdays, and I practice bellydancing at home on Thursdays-I count this towards my cardio exercise. I do yoga on Saturdays and Sundays, for relaxation, extra stretching and aligning of my back, and to get more flexibility, which helps in doing certain moves in Middle Eastern dance-so it helps in many ways. Sometimes I have an extra bit of dancing in on the weekend, if I just feel like doing it, or there is an open house or such at the dance collective-or a light wal outside if it is a nice day.
So-I exercise every day...but doing different things at different intensities-and I never get bored. The last few years I have truly made it a part of my life-which is the whole idea.
This thread is a good idea...all of those 15 minutes here and 30 minutes there really add up!

Well I did 10 minutes of ab work, and I have a dance class that starts in just a bit-it is an hour long, but I'll put it as 50 minutes-for when we are learning a new move or watching someone else do something. So-60 minutes today.

KitKat, I am seeing a difference, NO MORE SHOULDER PADS, and my abs are getting better, not greatyet but better than they were. I have to get serious about my eating tho, havn't lost a pound since I started. I did start a low carb diet on Monday so we'll see how it goes. Day 37 today.

You know-this is a really great way of looking at our exercise. I always see my 30 minutes, or 1 hour as just that. It is great to see it from a weekly and monthly point of view-to see those minutes turn into hours and hours...:D
I am down another pound to 180-I am totally going to be doing a happy dance when I am in the 170's. I have been working hard, and the last couple pounds that have come off are really starting to reveal some definition in my shoulders and biceps.

I got in 45 minutes of bellydancing today...mostly reviewing moves from the last couple weeks classes. Great for cardio and toning-not to mention you feel pretty sexy shaking your booty and twirling a silk veil around...

I got in an hour today...45 minutes of weight training...and 15 minutes of dance practice with my veil. I went up to using 8 pound weights recently for my biceps...and I am really starting to see more definition and curve in them-I love it.

I am late joining this thread... so went back and calculated approx. what I have done this month so far and it is somewhere around 650 (actually more I think but will go with that) ... so I am going to say 1300 for the month.

Today I went to the fitness center twice since my goal is at least 3 times a week and I had only been once this week. I only started working out about a month ago but I just increased from 45 minutes to an hour on cardio (treadmill, cross trainer, occasional bike) and then do strength training.

1300 - 650 = 650

Hi Semo

You are right that some days it is easy and others a real struggle. On those difficult days I just figure if I don't go all that fast on the treadmill or cross trainer, whatever, that is okay... just DO it and keep on going and not get discouraged. That thinking has helped me a lot in not feeling defeated on those days when I just can't get with it! It's okay and there will be other days when I do better!

SEMO, in answer to your question, I am just eating healthfully and exercising a lot. I do take Juice Plus Complete every day in juice, milk, or a shake. I don't "cheat" -- ever (well not SO far anyway, and don't plan to!) :lol: I also belong to a great Christian Home Group who are also trying to get in shape so have good support. Personally I don't like dieting but need something I can stick with; of course that is different for each of us.

I had 350 left to go... but went to a rally today in support of our president and troops -- was there a couple hours and walked up and down the streets handing out signs, etc... so I decided that I could count it as a VERY conservative 30 minutes of walking. So my total is now...

Wow this is such a busy week for me that haven't had time to get with it... will really have to haul it the end of the week to make my goal.

Yesterday WAS "one of those days" at work though when I had to run around a LOT... up and down the stairs, and around the building... hopping all over the place. So didn't get any "official" exercise I can "count" but did get some moving in there.

Hi all,

Did 60mins weights this morning, I manage to make my goal for the second time in a row! Congrats to all who made it to their goal and good luck to all who didn't make it. We are all winners, see you in Aprils challenge!

I just made it....45 minutes of weight training, and 45 minutes of walking...90 minutes total.

March 31 - 60 min. aerobics class; 50 min. Yoga

110 - 110 = 0

It took me 3 tries but this month I made my 1000 minute goal. I'm off to post my new goal on the April thread.
