I've been checking in to the boards every day and it just seems like the same conversations have been lingering at the top of the boards since I've joined.
So, I have decided, in a quite dignified manner mind you, to grab the bull by the balls and attempt to get some sort of conversation going here.

There's really not much point in being part of a social form if we don't talk to each other. SO, talk to me. About what? I don't know, just something.
We can have a discussion on how the grass in bright purple for all I care, I just want to see who else is lurking around these forms.

I mean, what's the worst that could happen?

Lol. I haven't really noticed that, it look likes people do talk to each other, haven't been on this too long tho, in fact your's is the first post I've replied to. So anyway what's happening with you? I'm in Ireland and i'ts 9am and raining and I'm reading this site in total procrastination instead of going for a walk, have rain jacket etc and got new trainers yesterday but still my bed is hard to leave... :)

Maybe it's just me? I can't seem to find an active conversation for the life of me.
I've never been the greatest conversationalist though.

Guuhh! I wish I was in Ireland. >.<
I'm from Calli, it's just cold... and sunny... which is actually kinda normal.
I don't know what people think this is a warm state... it's really not. Just... really sunny. >.>
It will be like 30 degrees outside (which, I know is warm compared to other people) and still be bright as sin. I will never understand.

I can understand the pain of not wanting to get out of bed though, I've been going to the gym for at least two hours every day for the last two weeks.
And, today, I was not having it.
Lol It look me like 2 hours to put on my shoes and leave. What are you training for?
Like, are you weight training, or just training in general?

I'm going away to Spain on a work experience thing for school in May and I'd love to not be embarrassed in skimpy clothes, the beer belly has really come on over the xmas :) and 30 degrees, wow, that's like the height of summer here! Lucky you. So I was good and got out for a walk after lunch, now lying on bed drinking tea and a mad concoction I made with vanilla protein powder and peanut butter sprinkled with good chocolate, tastes just like a snickers and it's practically a health food, yum! Did you make it out yourself?

Oh man, you'd die in California then. Heights of Summer have gotten to 105 on a bad year. That's hot for even me, who never gets hot. O_O

Well, I wish you luck on your endeavor. But, I should warn you, unless you are trying to build muscle protein power isn't really good for you and can cause you to gain more weight.

The key to that stuff is that you have to go about burning it off directly after you take it in, in order to feed your muscles correctly.

If you consume it and don't do some sort of vigorous exercises soon after it can cost you... and peanut butter is just not good for you.
It has a lot of calories, and oils, and sugar... so you may want to watch that as well.

And yeah, I go to the Gym daily for at least 2 hours.

I'm about to shower and head back down right now. It's getting kind of late here and I don't wanna walk back in the dark. I'm currently trying to replace my body fat with muscle... which is so much work.

But, I've steadily begun to build muscle which is always cool. I'm trying to loose at least another 15 pounds by the end of next month. So I can be slim for our trip to Disney World.

Oh you lucky complainers, I would LOVE to be in California or Ireland! Alas, I am stuck in Nebraska. :)

I suppose weather-wise it's not all bad. I mean, you never know what the weather will bring in the Midwest. Keeps you on your toes.

Ainegalway, your concoction sounds delightful. Chocolate, especially chocolate ice cream -- erm, I guess any dessert is my downfall. If it's there I just can't say no. That's the easiest way to trigger a binge. Dessert and cheese. And let's not even talk about combining the two, then it's all over.

Why not try veggie and vegan foods? They have both which are amazing to taste and are a third of the calories. There are some flavors that are a low as 150 calories per half cup. Which isn't bad.

Rule to my life... if they have it... there is a vegan substitute.

And don't let the Glamor of Cali fool you. It's really not the great of a place to be. Everything is wildly expensive, there is no job market, and the people are mean as sin. Even the nice people are still kind of mean. ^_^' Sadly enough.

I do try a stick to mostly vegan diet, the protein powder is kind of an indulgence of mine *embarrassed* It fills me up for ages with a cup of tea so that has to be good. I was going to the gym for a while but back in college now so I cycle (3 miles) there and back and walk everywhere else so not so bad, in fact the cycling has toned up my arms and tummy a little bit, under the insulating layer of fat of course :) Zombie you're doing great with 2 hours of gym per day, is there a pool there? That was my favourite thing about my local. And Alison, I feel you on the cheese and chocolate, I find the dark chocolate 70% cocoa is the best, there's actually only so much of it you can eat. For cheese no good diagnosis... :)

BOOM HEADSHOT, get some.

If you game on the Xbox we should exchange Tags and play together. Always fun to play with new people.

I just recently started using a tablet myself. I'm originally a point click artist, which, is using just the mouse and the bend tool. That's a god awful amount of time but you get some really clean lines with it. I personally use pain-tool sai. It's like a 50 dollar program that has free share option and it's AMAZING with line work and coloring. You should check it out.

And yeah, it seems like conversation in the alterna-chicks form isn't all to active. But, hey, we have a conversation started here. Which is at least something.

I'm kinda concerned though, I've been cutting my food intake for a good 3 weeks now and I've held strong to my 1-3 hours per day... but I'm making very little progress. I am, however, building muscle but it doesn't seem like the fat is going much of anywhere. T_T and... I'm getting really really tired. Hello again! Been busy with study last few days, Zombie you know with all the exercise your fat to muscle ratio will be going way down so don't worry about the scales at the moment, it will be more about if your jeans etc are getting a bit looser, also TOM can have a bit effect, Sarah I'm not going to be near Madrid unfortunately, we're heading to Ceuta which is an autonomous Spanish enclave in Morrocco! Cool :) However no bikini for me unless I get into losing at least 2 stone :( which will hardly happen now... This year has been terrible, my sweet tooth is terrible!

I'm in SoCal myself. Weather's alright, been a bit up and down this past week, I think. I've been choosing the walking and running outdoors rather than hitting the gym lately, but have slacked off the past couple of days....actually, I guess it was just today that I didn't. I've gotten used to walking just to walk and I forget that it's exercise now. I was supposed to get back to the gym last week, but, life got in the way, so I've decided that I'll get back there Tuesday.

Zombie, good for you that you're being disciplined at the gym. What sort of routine do you manage for two hours? Do you vary it up each day or stick to the same? When I was doing 2-2.5 I'd do at least 1-1.5 of cardio and then weight training for the rest. Been a while for me, though. I was doing 2 hours of spin at a time last Spring, but have slowed down my pace considerably since then for a variety of reasons.

Generally speaking I do a full hour of Cardio on the elliptical, about 5-7 miles depending. Then I go down to the free weights for about a half hour, and back up to the machines for the last of my time. Plus, I walk too and from the gym every day. Which is about a mile in of itself. So. By the time I'm done I'm super tired. I try to get at least 5 reps in on each of the options. So I'm doing the same thing, but, I'm also doing everything.

Hey. I am pretty new here, so I just thought I would pop in and say hi. Pretty much in the central part of the states, in Arkansas. Aged 32 years and someodd months. Married to tall sexy man that I imported from Los Angeles. Live with him and 4 cats in a house that we are in a constant state of remodeling. Currently I have blue/green hair, and am considered the outcast of everyone I work with, and most of the people I know in real life. My internet friends think I am cool...or at least tolerate me for my hubby's sake.

I was diagnosed with PCOS last year (after a long and sucky time of trying to get pregnant and having massive fail and several invasive tests that surpassed the limits of my personal space). And one of the things they said was "well, if you lose some weight that might help" so fast forward another 6 months, I figure screw it, got back on the pill, dropped 20 pounds, all of which I gained from going off the pill. Then I kind of hit a wall, and now I joined MRC, which is a horrible eating plan consisting of insane amounts of meat. Seriously, who eats that much chicken?

Anyway, I digress. We do hit the gym or work out at home 3 nights a week for at least 30 minutes. With work and life in general we are kind of short on time for anything. So here i sit at work taking 5 minutes to check the forums and say hello. Hello!

Yes, BARGOO -- you are correct; while there are a few monthly or weekly or even daily chat threads, most people seem to post occasionally. They get busy and don't come back. So many people come here for a short while then leave; others stay to lose the weight, then leave. Only ones like you and I seem to stick it out for years & years, becuz we've learned the value of this site to keep us on track, whether it be for weight-loss or maintenance ...

ZOMBIE ~ you did the right thing by starting a daily or regular chat thread to get some conversation going. I have started threads for that too; but I have to make sure I come back regularly to keep them going. That could be a good motivation for you to stick around too.

Btw, I just wanted to add that you be careful with your exercise regime there. You can over-do it. If I do that then I am wiped out for the next few days or a week. It would be better to start out at 45-60 minutes a day, and be able to stick to that long-term than hurt or wear yourself out, then quit. You don't need to do that much exercise to lose weight; experts say 30-60 minutes a day is great (start at 30, and work up to 60).

Hope you are feeling better today ... :D

I have only been a member for a few days, but I'm loving it. I find that sometimes it's tempting to just look at the boards and not reply to anyone, but what kind of boards would they be if everyone did that? I think we all have something unique to offer :)

I really started trying to lose weight for about a week now. First step was getting off the claritin I have been taking for general allergies(dust/pollen/dander) that I have been taking daily for almost 3 years. I went off it because after a little research it became apparent that a LOT of people who take it in the long term REALLY gain weight, even when their calories are down and output is high. Scary.

After reading the boards I was enlightened to the Eat Stop Eat program, which is some form of intermittent fasting (1-2 days a week, 24 hours at a time, like 6 pm to 6 pm). I decided to give it a try because I can go all day without eating(my problem is binging at night-so I'm gonna try not to). I'm currently 2 minutes away from my 13th hour. I can eat normally again after 1 am.

That sounds like a silly time, but for some reason my normal sleeping schedule has become really weird. Seriously. I go to sleep around 5 am every day and wake up between 12 pm and 1 pm.

ANYWAY, I digress. Hope all you ladies all have a GRRRRRREAT day!

I have taken that time span in to consideration but the thing is I don't feel worked out if I only go for an hour. I am being careful however and being sure to eat accordingly to match my activity levels. I think a lot of my soreness has to do with the fact that I've been steadily increasing my resistance, which, logically would cause some sort of discomfort. No worries, if I were over doing it I have an entire pack of people that would tie me down and make me rest. ^_^

I'm not sure what to think of this eat stop eat thing but I definitely couldn't do it, I get terrible migraines when I skip meals.. It doesn't sound healthy to be honest but I don't know much about it. If it works it works but I guess it comes down to whether or not the weight stays off long term.

I'm just trying to completely change my eating habits, so no more desserts etc. Nothing extreme and so far it's going well I think :)

I'm on antibiotics this week though and as soon as I take one it empties my stomach and I'm super hungry. Today has been the worst day so I'm not looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow.. that and a friend made lots of home made cookies. I only had 1 though. Agh.

Okay, I can tell you I'm hungry right now. I am on my 20th hour of my 24 hour fast. I am a little grumpy, but I think I'll make er. It does seem odd, but if you only fast one day or two days a week, I don't think it's that bad. Some people say it's good for you and may prolong life actually. I'm too tired to search and link to those people(almost typed pople) right now. I went to a game night at a friend's, and they made tacos. All I had was a diet coke. Damn. Tacos. Smelled. So. Tasty. I think it may go better if I move the 24 hour period from 1 am to earlier, like 6 pm as the guy who wrote the book about it suggested. I'm just a night owl, and routinely go to bed around 5 am, so that's what happened.

The thing is with this ESE program is that you just eat like you normally would and fast for 1 or 2 24 hour blocks within a week. It's supposed to cut down your calories for the week by 25-30 percent. And you lose weight because of that.

I can tell you more after a few days as per progress. I'm pretty fat so I imagine even one day of not eating will have some impact on my jingle roll.

I feel like one of those people in the corner at a cafe who wears all black and wears sunglasses and has a face on that just says, "I'm pissed off at the world. But I'm calm about it."

In other news, the Godfather part deux is playing tonight I think on AMC, so I'm hoping to catch a run of that. I liked the first one a lot. FAKE HAPPY FACE :D :D

No worries, you said you would be out of town, so it is all good.

And it is not really one meal, they gave me a pretty big list of choices, I just happen to be a really picky eater. :) I am not fond of veggies, or most fish, and 6 ounces of anything is pretty big when you consider all the other stuff you are supposed to fit in. Last night husband made turkey taco pizzas on a tortilla (40 calorie bread or half a tortilla), but we have to have 6 ounces of meat (of 4 ounces of meat and half an ounce of cheese) and 4 ounces of cooked veggies (or 8 ounces raw, so much salad!) so it was pretty good...but we had to eat it with a fork becuase there was so much topping on this one tortilla that it just kind of flopped all over.

Anyway I digress. nice to meet ya!

Anyway I digress. nice to meet ya!

but how many times are you allowed to eat?

Alright! It's been a while since my last check in but I can proudly say. I'm down another 5 pounds. Which totals to 15 pounds in about 3 months. Which is good progress. I pretty much live at the gym now. ^_^

I've taken to running 30 miles a week, I'm on my second week right now. I just finished up a 4 hour work out. I have no idea why, don't ask. BUT I've been building quite a bit of body muscle and all that jazz. I'm going to go pass out now.

Great work, Zombie! It's good to see you staying disciplined and working hard. Swift weight loss needs both, I think.

Great job Zombie, and sorry it has taken me so long to get back here. I eat 3 meals a day, breakfast (usually 2 eggs and 45 calorie toast) within an hour of getting up, then regular lunch and dinner. Also, I found some awesome stuff, Syntrax Nectar, it is a whey protien powder that we have after a workout. Since I cannot have chocolate milk any more this stuff is great. And it means i have to go to a workout or I do not get any chocolate...so it is a nice motivation.

Keep up the good work!

Dear god, it's been a while since I checked in here. I'm still keeping strong with my plan but I fell behind a bit from my trip to Seattle. Not to much but the traveling thing gets in the way. Not much to report on, but, I'm still kicking. Building a boat load of muscle. ^_^ Found out that I can lift 180 over my head from dead life position 5 times before my arms go to jelly. Everything else is kinda old news.

I don't know if this thread is dead or not, but I'll post and see if anyone responds :)

I'm new to the forum and just starting my weight loss journey. I consider myself an alternachick because I'm pretty natural and that freaks people out lol. I'm a vegetarian, don't wear makeup except for a bit of organic mascara and lip gloss, don't dye my hair (and wear my gray proudly-I earned it!), own exactly one bra and only wear it to church lol, and I'm obsessed with reading. So far this year I've read 100 books and have a year end goal of 240 :) I don't watch tv, I'm big on organic and locally produced goods, and in the summer I love going to the farmers markets and local farms that sell to the public. I'm also super strict about what products my family uses on our skin, hair, etc. I guess I'm kind of a hippie :carrot:
