Default New to this forum!

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie here, trying hard to lose some weight so I can feel better about myself. I am 23 years old, and I want to lose 100 pounds in about a year.

One question I have is about food plans. I'm not planning on following a specific food plan, but counting calories using myfitnesspal and starting running. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

I look forward to sharing my journey with you and hearing about yours! Thanks

Hi gatorpharm :-)

I am new as well, yours is the first post I looked at and it seems we are pretty similar.
I am 24 and wanting to loose 100 pounds also. I want to loose the majority of in the next 7 months for my best friends wedding.
Like you I am not planning on following a specific plan, just counting calories and fat.
I have started by making sure I eat a good breakfast. I have been terrible with breakfast in the past, often just skipping it completely :-(

Personally I think doing it our way has its pros and cons. I don't feel so pressured doing it my own way but on the other hand when following a specific plan it sometimes good to have those restrictions.

So how are you doing so far?

I have lost a grand total of 1/2 a pound since the start on Jan :-)

Yep I think we may be the same person lol! I skip breakfast all the time, than overeat at night. Combine that with almost never exercising, and theres no surprise as to why I weigh what I do. I havent weighed myself at all yet but I feel so much better even tho its only been a few days of starting this lifestyle change. I am really starting to like my morning walk!

@healthyweightwannabe: Yay another newbie! We can do this

Gaterpharm, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diet plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the 20-somethings and Counting Calories sub forums!
