Hey there! I'm Damilya and my goal is 110 lbs by summer. Right now I am around 133 lbs and by the end of February my mini-goal is to be under 130 lbs.

Today I ate quite a lot for breakfast:
Oatmeal with frozen blueberries and raspberries (and sugar) (around 350 calories)
Piece of dark chocolate (100 calories)
Cracker with chocolate hazelnut spread (around 170 calories)
Low-fat cottage cheese with honey (around 150 calories)

I have to work today, so that's why I kind of filled myself up with food, because at my work I won't be able to eat until 7pm today.

Good Morning. This would have been my mom and her twins' birthdays. I am on a Weight Watchers Journey to avoid the full blown diabetes they suffered. And I KNOW I should have started this and maintained healthy weight years ago. I'm now 65 and for 3 WHOLE WEEKS I've been motivated to win this once and for all. I KNOW I feel better. I KNOW it's important. I KNOW I have to do this. So why is this my 4th time joining WW?? Slow learner?? Must be! I look forward to checking back with all of you and using your posts as continued motivation. We all need "friends" with similar goals. Back with you soon! I'm 5'9" and weigh 222.2 pounds. I don't even have a goal weight yet...only a 5% and 10% number. So, first, 217.4#, here I come!!

Hey everyone...not much time, but had to come report that I'm down to 174.8, which is a new low for me!! I am ECSTATIC!!! I guess the steroids I took last week were effecting me more than I though! :) I've tried soooo soooo hard this week.....so glad it's paying off!!

berry, :yay: for you for your loss while TOM is just getting here! That is amazing!!!

Okay, we're deck building....so I'm off for more supplies! have a grea tday everyone!! :) :) :)

Congrats, GainingWeightInLa!

So, I came back from my work and ate some potatoes and meat (quite little, about 300 calories). After that I had around 600 calories left. So I ate chocolate and drank latte caramel with sugar. I know it's so unhealthy! But I can't make it one day without sweets, so I don't forbid myself anything, but try to stay under my planned calorie-intake, which is around 1700.

I think I did a good job today, and I hope that by next week I'll be around 131-132 lbs.

Hi Everyone

Welcome to the newcomers TheRiles and Damilya. I'm a relative newcomer, just joined in November.

I kind of relax the regime a bit on weekends. I had a donut at Tim Hortons after church this morning with my daughter:devil: But I'm making a healthy soup in the crockpot and will get at least 3 meals out if it, filled with veggy goodness.

Today's exercise will be either a walk or X-C ski at the nature preserve depending on how much snow is left. Then tomorrow is boot camp. Those classes are intense, but fun, and they burn a lot of calories.

Have a great start to the week everyone!!

Hey all! Scale is still the same this morning which is goo as it means yesterday wasn't a fluke.

DianainLA. Way to go on the new low! I'm not surprised you were holding onto to weight because of the meds. Meds do funny things to the body!

Talk is over and now I'm back home. Just chilling and I'm enjoying that!

Monday WI 204.6 up a pound from last week. I have no idea why, other than water retention. I've been on plan and faithful to myself, but struggled with my calories all week. DH is out this week, so chances are I'll have the same struggle.

I hope you have a wonderful and healthy day!

mamakat and qtkitty, you guys just hang in there.....sheer determination is the ONLY thing that'll get you over this hump. You guys CAN do it....you're the ONLY ones that can do it FOR YOU! Grit your teeth, dig your heels in and, as we say here in Louisiana, git 'er dun!!! You'll be SOOOO glad you did when you see the results! Everytime you get munchy (not hungry, but munchy...) think RESULTS and ask yourself "Is this worth sabbotaging myself?" It's always NOT. You can do it, girlies!! I believe in you!

Has anyone tried yoplaits smoothies? OMG! I tried the chocolate banana one this morning, made with skim milk. IT WAS AWESOME!! I thought I was having an ICE CREAM TREAT!! Got a Strawberry one, too.....can't WAIT to try it! Only 130 calories! :) :) :) (3 WW points, for anyone calculating...)

Got a workout in last night.....that's the one thing I haven't been doing faithfully thruout my yr long journey so I'm not able to do as much as I should be able to do by now......my goal for last year was to lose the majority of my weight, which I did. This year it's to exercise more. Start off was bumpy.....but I've hit it 3-4 times this past week so I'm doing better. I'll get there.....baby steps! According to livestrong, I only burned about 150 calories in my workout last night. :( That's pitiful. lol It'll get better! That's better than burning NONE, no?? lol

Okay, I'm off here to accomplish the day! Have a GREAT Monday everyone!!

mamakat

Diana  that's so funny. I can't say I was super busy this weekend, but I didn't get a chance to get on the computer. Friday we had to go out for party stuff. Saturday we had to get ready for party and Sunday, we brought new baby home (Ben our new black rat). All requirements were fulfilled, expensive, but done. I can't have caged animals (I'm psycho and cry) unless the cage is spacious enough for lots of running. So Ben has a deluxe home that is now taking up our coffee table.

The slumber party was a hit. My DD's friends kept saying they wish their moms were like me. DD said yeah she's pretty cool and wished her dad was like that too. I pointed out that, I don't make money and I don't cook, half the time I don't remember...so without their dad (the parent) we'd all be hungry and out on the streets. Her father, said "yeah". In fact, she couldn't even have the party without the 'sane' adult because if I get stressed out, I'm useless. And girls laughing can go both ways for me.

So I didn't manage my calories for a couple of days. I think my body is trying to go into starvation mode, because last week was terrible, some days I barely made 600. I am going to try my best this week. It will be hard as I don't cook and DH is gone. But we'll see.

Thanks Diana for asking where I've been. Hopefully now that all is settled I'll be back regularly OH and also the Pharmacy didn't get me my meds in time and I started feeling ill, but all is taken care of finally YAY :)

Morning everyone!!

Italiannie - Good job on your nearly 1 lb. loss!

GainingWeightInLa - I've been wanting to try those! I'll definitely have to pick some up at the store next time now lol. And baby steps is the way to do it at the beginning!

Breakfast:
160 calories oatmeal + :coffee2:

I'll check back in later with my lunch & dinner. Not sure what I'm having yet :dizzy:

Oh, and I can ALMOST fit in to my first goal jeans. I haven't worn them in 3 years -.- They are a SMALL 9, closer to an 8 than a 10. I'm about an inch from being about to button them, and probably 2 more inches after that until I can wear them comfortably but I AM getting there, slowly but surely :carrot: Before I couldn't even pull them up over my butt!

Down to 382 this morning

I want to break into the 370's this month. I stayed home today ... now I know why I was so hungry last night woke up with a temperature and feeling off balance ( guessing sinus infection given the weather changing so much) added Alieve and lysine to my regime for a bit until I kick this. I still got to get some stuff done around the house so .. its bad yet good that I am home today.

Oh yes I almost forgot ... this week ( sunday to sunday) I am down 1.6lbs and my calorie average was 1651.
Wish it was monday to monday *lol* cause that was 3.6lb less *LOL* This up coming week I am shooting for no less than 1400 a day but if I have a day thats worse it will be ok as long as out averages to around 1600.

Damilya - :welcome: Nice to meet ya.

TheRiles - :welcome: Great to see ya!

DianaLA - Glad to hear you hit a new low!!! Congrats!!!!! Have fun with the building of the deck

Jim - Sounds like even when you take it easy, you still do it with some calorie burn, so that's great!!!

qtkitty - Sure hope you feel better soon!!! I have had days like that where I never seem to fill up too - also days where it seems torture to try and force in the calories.... it all seems to equal out to what our bodies need :)

Diana - Hi!!!! Here's to a good week!!!

LittleBrownBike - Way to go on the planning!!!! That helps make a day go so much smoother!

Mamakat - Sorry to hear about the scale being uncooperative - but you will win over that dang thing ;) Sucky about the meds, but glad it's all taken care of

KaylaChristine - Hi

To anyone else I forgot... Hello!!!! Happy fresh start to the week!

So the scale didn't move for me this week either. I have started implementing more cardio now though, and trying to get water intakes higher and that might work - guess we will find out next Sunday.

mamakat~ Yeah you definately would be the cool parent if you allow your kid to have a rat *LOL* I am rather picky about animals, although over the years I have had a menagerie come through my door *lol* Cats, Dogs, Bunnies and rabbits, ferrets, gerbil, Iguana, box tutrles and red ear sliders, meal worm colony ( technicaly I guess thats feeder food but they were facinating ). I did animal fostering and was able to correct pycological issues so that the animals could be adopted to forever homes. And although I know its a no-no to buy injured animals from pet stores because it encourages bad husbandry I bought a few over the years after talking the people down dramatically ( one I got for free with the set up, which was sad because they knew it was that bad). Some were not able to be saved others were, but it made me feel better that even if they did not make it they got proper care the last part of their life.

KaylaChristine~ woohoo congrats your getting so close!!

Happy Monday! :D

Ski weekend was pretty good. Did a fair amount of skiing for my first time out this season (we need snow!). Stayed OP with my eating (for the most part). WI this morning...down one pound to 186. I'll take it!

qtkitty: Sorry you're feeling sick today. Sinus infections can be awful! Feel better soon.

Kayla: Congrats on the jeans! It always feels good to have something besides the scale or a tape measure to validate your hard work. Great job!!!

Mamakat: There is a strange satisfaction in hearing your kids friends say you're cool. It's like being one of the gang again! Glad the pharmacy got your meds to you. Now try to eat something...

Gaining: Keep up the good work! I too find getting in regular exercise the hardest part of weight loss. I haven't tried the smoothies. They sound sooo good.

Littlebrownbike: Great job with all your planning!!!!

Damiilya: Welcome to 3FC.

The Riles: Welcome to 3FC.

Diana: I've been gone a few days...have you finally gotten rid of all the allergy stuff in your system? You suffered so long!

Jim: So...x-c ski or walk? Donuts with the daughter sounds like time well spent to me!

Berry: Glad to hear the scale isn't playing with you!

Hey everyone!

Just finished with my workout: 30 Day Shred. Feeling amazing, haha.

Ate quite a lot of sweets today, but under my planned calorie intake. I still have 220 calories left.
Ate oatmeal with blueberries and sugar for breakfast and a big fondant cookie, hehe, bad.
At school I ate 'ontbijtkoek' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontbijtkoek), click to see what it is (:
After that I ate veeery tasty pangasius fish that my grandmother made, I don't really like fish overall, but this one is delicious!
After that I ate 'stroopwafel' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroopwafel) and a couple of chocolate cookies. And right now I'll drink my hazelnut latte with piece of dark chocolate, hehehe.

I try to consume about 1700 calories a day, but I think I'll lose weight really slowly if I won't lower my calorie-intake. >.<

Hi everyone,

Just weighed myself, up a pound to 243, so I've got to buckle down. I let up a little on the intensity the last few days. Our boot camp instructor was absent today, so we did Zumba instead. As a pretty uncoordinated guy, lets just say its not my cup of tea.

Moondance - skiing in Colorado sounds great. I think I need to lose some weight before I do downhill skiing again. Don't want to spend 8 weeks in a cast.

qtkitty, keep up the good work!

Well everyone else, have a great start to the week.

Well, I've had exactly 50% of my calories today....(I've consumed 560 and still have 553 left....so just over half, actually) Tomorrow is my weigh in day (I attend WW mtgs, but am not working "their plan"--I calorie count and try to watch my fat, cholesterol and sodium intake). I weigh in the evenings at 6 pm. I know-- :yikes: THE EVENING???? lol I've done it for over a year now so I've gotten used to it now. :D I'm really wanting to snack today....but I know I've gotta weigh tomorrow...that's the only thing keeping me on track today! lol Thank goodness for public weigh ins, huh??

Had a NSV today....went to a store that I go to quite a bit....they know me there. One of the ladies came up to me and said, "You sure are tiny, girl!" YES!! I thanked her profusely and told her I was trying really hard! :D

Have I mentioned that I love being back here??

sort of bummed, just found out my kidney function is waning. Last year it was good, but doctor has noticed it's near the exit for "good" now. He says he thinks it's a reaction to the lithium as it's been raising as I've been raising. So why is he keeping me on it? Actually he said, today was the first time he saw me looking good and he doesn't want to change that. Doh, what? I wasn't feeling so good afterwards. :p He wants me to get another test late Feb. and if it's moved closer to not norm or out of norm then he's sending me to a specialist. He didn't say it could be reversed or what he suspects it could be. Dang it, I'm gonna be anxious for a month now. He's a shrink, he should know better to do that to me

Berry Yay, for 100 lost, you got back to 175, now rock it to 173 just for fun :)

Diana LA awesome NSV, I love when people notice. LOL, I'm still waiting. No one ever sees me though, so it might be awhile. awesome job.

BuffJIm now I want tea  Was the class at least a little fun for ya?

Moondance glad you got in some skiing. You're having snow issues in Colorado? Funny, I thought it always snowed there.

qtkitty I think you'll get into those 370's for sure.

kayla love the NSV, it's such a nice testimony to watch yourself shrink into clothes. Keep up the great work.

Well I'm off, I need to go find food. I've done pretty good...I'm around 500-600 now and that's before a meal, so I might make it. :)

Hi Everyone! I stopped taking my antihistamine today. I couldn't stand the drying effects any longer. We'll see how it goes without it.

LittleBrownBike Great job planning your meals.

Mamakat The pound could have been due to lower calories. It sounds like the party was fun for everyone. Remind us when you have to go back to the Dr about that test. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Diana(LA) Great job on that workout. It all adds up. You may have burned more than Livestrong says, too. Congrats on the compliment.

Italiannie Congrats on the .8.

KaylaChristine Great job on the jeans.

Qtkitty Congrats on the 1.6 pounds!

Itsmyturn I hope the cardio helps. My body likes cardio. I am doing a new program. It has more weights than I normally do. I am trying to make sure I get enough cardio, too, since that's what my body likes.

Moondance Great job on the pound! Things seem to be clearing up some. It takes so much time, so I really don't know. I am really trying to stay away from everything (soy, peanuts, nuts) that I am suspicious of. I am even avoiding foods if I don't know what in them. It's tough!

Damiilya Great job on the 30 Day Shred.

BuffJim Hi  Sorry about the workout! DH took a step class with me a long time ago. Not his cup of tea either. ;) You did something, that's all that matters.

Good luck with your allergies Diana

My checkin for today:

8 am
Started out rough with 2 darvocet, 1 cadbury chocolate bar and 4 oz coke to get me going.

1:30 pm
1/4 boneless skinless chicken breast, 1 chicken leg <- rotisserie leftovers from last night, 3 baby potatoes mashed

6:00 p.m.
boneless skinless chicken breast and onions cubed and BBQed, 4 baby potatoes boiled then finished up on the BBQ

Water: 32 oz
Exercise: 6.25 miles/35:01 minutes <- longest bike ride so far!!

I'm planning chicken fajitas tomorrow night for dinner, I already have the chicken cut up and seasoned. This should give me time for another bike ride tomorrow when I get home...

My goal for tomorrow is no chocolate and no coke. So far this month I have not gotten any fast food (mcdonalds etc)... AND so far this year I have not purchased anything from the vending machines at work, yay... so even though I'm still having some chocolate and coke I feel like these are big accomplishments considering I pass half a dozen McDonalds on the way home and used to get breakfast or lunch from there at least twice a week if not more... and used to get candy from the vending machine at least once a day...

After I woke up today at 12 ( missed breakfast) I got a shower and dressed. I lugged 2 40lb duffle bags of laundry up 2 flights of stairs. I cleaned my room a little and downstairs. Took out all the garbage from the cans upstairs and downstairs. And made dinner. I was done all that by a little after 5. I am so exhausted it isn’t funny. I know I should eat more, but I don’t feel like it. I am just to physically tired to do it.

I will do personals tommorrow...

Mamakat~Geeze.. I really hate medicine side effects.. atleast they are playing it careful and getting it looked at now instead of later.

ok goodnight

Good Morning Everyone,

Today marks the official 12 years of my daughters birth. It's also Tuesday  it's gonna be stressful. DD has chosen to go to Red Robin for her Bday dinner, I was never really impressed with them and of course if I'm having a burger I want the bun too. I will suck it up though and be a good mom and take her there (there being the mall). I told her, it would have to be after my wind down nap from New Haven :D

qtkitty your day, yesterday, sounds exhausting. I sure hope you got a good night's sleep.

littlebrownbike good luck on your goals today. I think those are things (chocolate and soda) are super hard to kick.

Diana I will do my best to remind you, Yesterday, as we checked in and paid the co-payment for ds to see shrink, the receptionist said I had an appt two hours prior. I was shocked, I've never missed a doctor's appt. Luckily this guy just whips patients in and out in 10-15mins and could see us both. I guess yesterday's appt. was one I really didn't want to miss  Good luck with the allergy medicine or rather stopping it. I hope things stay calm for you.

sarcruze your meal sounds wonderful. It made me jealous. :)

Berry I hope you are right as far as it being a blip. I look up kidney problems and I found one site that gave symptoms, I giggled. I have all those symptoms before I was taking Lithium...they were the signs of depression or bad thyroid or any number of things...so how would a person suspect? Also said Diabetes is the main problem, that ran in my family. My entire family had it, I come from a long line of ill people  So I'm hoping it will stay the same or even get better (who wouldn't hope that right?). Seriously though, all the 'specialist' are in New Haven and I don't want to go. ((throwing self on floor and having a tantrum)).

Okay it's 30 mins since wake up and DS is refusing to get his butt out of bed. This week is midterms and he can't be late. I'm up, so he should be too. Oh and I met calories yesterday. Yay, only four more days without DH. At least tonight's dinner is sort of figured out.

Have a wonderful and healthy day.

Morning everyone

My morning weigh in: 197.6 (TOM)

Just had 3 slices (very thin) of blackforest ham and 1 slice of american cheese, also started on my water early. I don't have food to take for lunch today so I'm planning on a chicken breast from Pollo Tropical.

Have a great day everyone

Good Morning, Everyone!

Putting my thoughts down, just ignore. ;)

Still not sure what's going on. My mouth seems to be healing from the allergic reaction. It's not completely healed though. Things should be getting better, right? I know it takes time, so that means patience on my part. That's a tough one. I am still eating in a calorie range that I would lose down to the lower 140's. That's not happening right now. This morning when I woke up, I thought I would have a loss because I didn't feel as swollen/bloated as I have been. But I didn't. Also, to note, as I have gone through this weight loss process, I have always taken a bite of DH's food at dinner or whenever he had something that's not on my plan. I know those "bites" are not a lot of calories, but they do add up. I have never counted these. In the last couple of weeks, I have avoided any extra food like that. He eats a lot of fried foods, foods with sauces, and dressings. Most of these foods contain soy. You would think that I am not taking these "bites" it would give me even more of a calorie deficit. I am sure I am not eating below a good calorie range for me. I have always had a fear that my body would just turn on me and out of the blue just start gaining. In reality, I don't think this is going on. It's just a fear in the back of my head. I have been morbidly obese the majority of my life. The bottom line is that I think I am still getting over this allergic reaction. Something else about the allergic reaction this time. I started taking the antihistamine right before Christmas. I didn't take it yesterday, but I have taken it this entire time. I still had a lot of symptoms from the allergy, although it wasn't as bad as previous times. This reaction must have been pretty bad, if you look at the whole picture. Things are no where as bad as they used to be, so that's a positive.

Calories for yesterday: 1410 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 148.4
Up: .4

Im up .8 on the scale this morning and I even ate below in calories yesterday, but we had lunch at IKEA and I had their meatball lunch. That must have done it because this morning I barely had to pee (despite drinking a big glass of water before going to bed) and the scale is up almost a pound. I know Diana3271 can relate to that! Argh! Going out to eat can really throw you!

Moondance - How fun to have a ski weekend!!! Good for you!

Damiilya - Great job on the workout!

Jim - Even if zumba isn't your cup of tea... a kudos to you for finding something else to replace the bootcamp that couldn't happen :)

DianaLA - Congrats on the NSV and good luck tonight with weigh in!

Melissa - Congrats on your amazing loss! It's awesome that you are able to look back and see how far you have come!!!! So happy for you!!! As for the up on scale today... no doubt it's just water from the meal out... it will fall off in the next day or two

Mamakat - Sorry to hear of the kidney issue. My ex-husband had to go off lithium due to issues within as well. By then we were divorced, so honestly don't know what they did with him. I do wish you luck in getting it straightened out though :) Happy Birthday to your DD !!!!

sarcruze - Hope the WW meeting went well?

Diana - Hope you are able to finish kicking whatever it is without the antihistamine :) Fingers crossed for you! Maybe if the symptoms continue, hit up a doctor just to be sure??

qtkitty - Hope you feel better!

As for me - did get on elliptical last night. I wanted to walk/run, but by time I got home from work and errands, it was dark... so... something inside the house it is! :)

Happy Tuesday! :D

I got a little excited this morning. For some reason, the scale read 184. I was like "WHAT?" I haven't been below 185 in more than 10 years. I'm thinking it's a fluke, as I was 186 yesterday. Time will tell.

I got some news the other day that has really bummed me out. My DD was competing for a full-ride scholarship to the college she wants to go to. Out of about 1800 applicants, she made it to the ~150 finalists. Same with her cousin. We found out her cousin got one of 40 scholarships. We did not. I know I should be happy for the cousin (and I am, somewhere inside) but I can't help be jealous of her and angry that my DD didn't get one too. It just means a harder time during my DD's college years, struggling to pay. I'll get over it, but I'm very disappointed right now. She'll be applying for additional scholarships, but this would have been so much better. No one said life is fair, right?

ItsMyTurn: Your dedication to exercise is so great!

qtkitty: Hope you're back up to speed soon!

Berry: Lunch at IKEA? Was it any good? I finally went into the one they built here last spring. Man...that's a lot of plastic! Some really cool stuff though, that's for sure. Going out to eat has lost some of its appeal. The food is loaded with calories and sodium. Kinda takes the fun out of it. But congrats on the 175! That's GREAT!!!!! I agree with Mamakat...how about 173 just for fun!

Diana: I wish I had some advice to help you solve your problems, but I don't. All I can offer is sympathy, hugs, and support. And remember, your body can't change the laws of physics. If you stay within your calorie range, it's can't gain wait all by itself.

BrownBike: Hope you have a great day too! Remember...No chocolate, no Coke!

Mamakat: Happy b-day to your DD. Red Robin...should be fun. Bring your ear plugs. That's why I don't like the place...it's loud!! You are a good mom! Try not to get too anxious. If your Dr. was really worried about it, he wouldn't have you wait a month. Oh, and don't get me wrong...there is definitely snow in in the mountains. Just not enough for this powder hound. I like it steep and deep!

Sarcruze: Welcome to accountability.

SanityNow: Welcome to accountability.

GainingweightinLA: What a great NSV!

Jim: I love skiing. Been doing it since I was 7. Great job finding something to do in place of boot camp. Your coordination (or lack thereof) comment made me laugh...I thought the same thing when I took a Zumba class.

Damiilya: Those dishes look yummy!

Moondance Okay, were you with us a year ago, when we went for the very first time to Red Robin? OMG, we were sitting there and the fire alarm went off. The bizarre part was, we stayed and ate! Talk about a non-enjoyable time. I won't sit through that ever again. Other than that, noise as long as it's not babies crying, for the most part is okay. But that was funny how you said loud and the only time I've ever been there was a fire alarm...now I'm hoping that's not the norm for that place

ItsMyTurn, thanks, hehe (:
Moondance, congrats with 184! 10 years is sure a veeery long time, good job!

Well for breakfast I again ate oatmeal XD
And also:
-latte hazelnut
-piece of chocolate
-one mini currant bun and
-ontbijtkoek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontbijtkoek)
that's it I think..
After school I ate ontbijtkoek again, rice with grean beans and peanut sauce, 1 piece of pangasius fish and after that one more ontbijtkoek XD

Moondance yay!!!!! That had to feel great! But I'm sorry about the full ride scholarship thing. We struggle here's at home too. Y son has the academic ability to get a full ride, but with his grade struggles, it will never happen. It bites. And it would be every hard to not be a little jealous about the cousin getting the scholarship and your daughter not. Money is a big deal!

Mamakat have fun at Red Robin, but please skip the bun!

Itsmyturn I'm still amazed that you find the time and energy to exercise with your schedule. Unbelievable determination! And how is the job hunting going for your husband?

Diana3271 I'm sorry you are having a hard time with figuring out the allergy or whatever the reason for the scale not dropping back down. Is it possible you aren't eating enough? I am grasping at straw here.

01-24-2012, 03:25 PM
Moondance - A very happy Tuesday to you!! 184??? That's awesome! I call it not a fluke :D As for the scholarship, I would be totally peeved and completely understand financial struggle. My kids are going to have to do student loans for whatever they don't get for assistance... there is no choice there. So I feel your pain

Mamakat - I can't imagine eating during a fire alarm  I would have been so out of there, LOL!

damiilya - Oh how I miss a latte in the morning. I had to stop having those and capaccino cause of the cream/milk in them. Next one, enjoy a sip for me :D

Melissa - Thank you so much for the compliment... you just put a boost to my whole day. It may seem odd, but sometimes I feel like I don't fit enough into my day to day schedule and can't figure out why I can't accomplish more. I am hoping my weight starts to drop again, like yours has been doing so awesome lately!!!! I have been so happy for you watching your numbers drop!!! As for the hubster, still no job found yet... I keep hoping it will happen super soon though. You probably remember we worked through savings waiting for the last job to hit... we are on nothing and my income, though reliable, is not as much as it should be to support a family of 5. He doesn't have to earn much... just something to help... but he will find something - a door always opens when you are at breaking point ;) He feels so much better about himself when he is working too - so hoping it hits for him sooner rather than later

mamakat~ it was.. I still didn't sleep well though.. woke up this morning with my fitted sheet and matress cover completely ripped off the bed and my covers flipped ... the blanket that was on top of my comforter was next to me and the sheets and other blanket on top *lol* How I managed that I will never know, but atleast my head wasn't at the bottom of the bed. I have done that before and its rather disorienting.. go to get out of bed in the dark and there is a wall where it shouldn't be *LOL* I had a busy night with out knowing it.

I did some more laundry and cleaned the basement( aka cats pan, cats water bowl, and food dish and the areas around all of those). Our cat likes to dig in the water so it was yucky and the water replenishes from a container in the back and it had algea growing in it (ewwwwww). Got to cold and came back to bed.

I still need to wash dishes ( yes I am putting it off... I hate doing it ) I also need to vacuume and there was something else but I can't remember right now that Mom had made comment about. This is why if i am going to be home sick i do not tell my Mom *LOL*

damiilya~ Do you buy the ontbijtkoek or do you make it? I looked at what it is. It sounds yummy. I did not know if you had a recipe

Itsmyturn and Moondance ~ Thanks you guys *ss*

Littlebrownbike Thank you. Congrats on that workout yesterday. Great job planning.

Mamakat I hope you enjoyed RR with your DD and it wasn't that stressful. ;)

Qtkitty Keep up the great work!

Itsmyturn Great job on getting the exercise in last night! I don't think the Dr. will be much help for me. He basically advised for me to take the antihistamine. :( I tell you, I am a science experiment gone awry! I agree with Berry. You are amazing with how much you do. Sending more positive thoughts your way for your DH.

Moondance Thank you. Sorry about the news on the scholarship. Maybe something else, even better, will come through for your DD. Tell her to look at every avenue. Even ones that she doesn't think she would qualify for. Also, apply ASAP. When I applied, I received grants that I really didn't qualify for. I received them because I had my application there the first day that was allowed and they had plenty of money at the time. As the money runs out, they become more strict.

Damiilya Hi  Your meals sound delish!

Berry I really don't think my calories are too low, although I could be wrong. If I add my cream, sugar, and extra veggies at breakfast to my total calories, I'm probably eating 1700-1800 calories. This is the same range I have been in I definitely have an allergy reaction going on, or I'm at the end of it. When I have a reaction, it doesn't matter what I do, I won't lose. Even if I cut my calories. If I eat extra calories, I will gain though. It's almost like my body thinks its under attack, and it's hunkered down to protect itself. :dizzy: TTOM is also getting ready to start. I am going to wait until TTOM ends and I will evaluate from there. It's really frustrating though.

Ilovemo Hi  Do you eat regular yogurt or Greek yogurt?

Alitorry Hi and Welcome to the check-in! Congrats on the 12 pounds.

I ate three meals! I only went over by 200 calories and no bun :) I got to watch my kittens eat malts in front of me and then went shopping  DH is going to flip when he finds out how much I spent, but I don't feel guilty. It's the price he has to pay for not being here. Ha-ha, you didn't hear that from me :) Now it's time to sit back and enjoy a movie with DD.

I hope everyone has a great night. :)

Hi Everyone! I had a great day on plan. My weight loss is consistent. I'm trying not to weigh myself every day, as I'm averaging about 1.5lbs per week and you all know what the scale can do in between. My focus to keep doing what I'm doing and that should get me down to my goal weight sometime late this summer or early fall, so.... just one day at a time, I keep plugging along.

I want to give a quick "high five" to all of you. You are all doing a great job overcoming obstacles and living in the real world while maintaining your commitment to your health goals. I think that really says something for all of you - the way you encourage each other and lift each other up. An amazing group.

Way to go.

Alitorri - Welcome!

6:30
3 thin slices blackforest ham, 1 slice american cheese

10:30
1 medium jazz apple

11:30
1/2 of a small cup beef barley soup

3:00
2 slices of white bread and 1/2 rotisserie chicken breast (boneless/skinless)

6:30
2 chicken fajitas, with sour cream, cheese, onions, grilled chicken and lettuce
2 baby potatoes boiled
8 oz coke
1 chocolate chip muffin (home made courtesy of hubby to make me feel better lol)

Water: 40 oz
Exercise: None

So, did not go as planned, I started having really bad stomach pains around 11 and long story short ended up in the emergency room by 12:00... as usual they couldn't do anything for me and it was a total waste of time but I didn't know what else to do... I have to figure out how I can find a local doctor who can give me some answers and not simply say I need more heating pads and motrin... I can't keep going through this on a monthly basis...

I'm feeling much better now although exhausted.. I hope to do much better tomorrow :)

Good Morning, Everyone!

Today is my haircut/color and we eat at the Japanese restaurant. I normally take a couple bites of DH's salad. I know there is oil in it. I don't know what kind though, because they make their dressings in house. Of course I won't do it tonight, since I have stopped doing that. I have eaten there before and didn't have a crazy reaction. I am hoping for maybe a small blip from sodium and nothing else crazy. I know they use soy sauce when they cook. So I don't know. Another thing I found out, yesterday, is that soybean oil is not considered allergenic (Whatever you call it. I call it a PITA! ;)) Here's the chart that I found http://www.foodallergy.org/files/HTRLsheet_2011.pdf It's the second list on the left. Maybe I am more sensitive to it? Who knows. I have read on allergy forums that people are allergic to soybean oil. :dunno: If anyone has any insight, please share.

I woke up this morning feeling a lot less bloated. I am also feeling less dried out from the antihistamine. How can you be bloated and dried out at the same time?

Calories for yesterday: 1440 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 147.2
Down: 1.2 pounds

I'll be back a little later for personals. :coffee2:

Morning all! Did yoga last night and it was good. Scale cooperated and I'm down 1.6 from yesterday (yesterday was up almost a pound because of eating out). TTOM is over, so I'm also probably dropping a bit more water weight too. As people, I dont usually lose this much this fast. So for all newcomers, this is an unusual month as I had a tremendous weight gain over the holidays (14 pounds in 17 days and i was not eating crazy!) and my body is still sorting that all out.

Tonight is my double express class of step and strength. I love that express class combo!

3 more pounds to get back to where I was before the holidays.

Congrats on the scale move Melissa, its a move in the right direction even if it is water weight ;) , the classes sound fun..

My weigh in this morning 196.4 so its holding steady the past 3 or 4 days so hopefully I'll get a nudge down tomorrow... but I haven't been under 200 in at least 6 months so I'm really happy that its holding steady in the 190s...

diana, I am sooo sorry you're going thru all this allergy stuff. It sounds completely miserable! I don't have any suggestions since I only suffer from seasonal allergies, but I will certainly say prayers for you, girl! God can do anything.....so I know He can take this from you. I pray He does!

LittleBrownBike~ Did they do an ultra sound at the emergency room?

Yep, absolutely nothing wrong with me as usual... I found a local specialist who deals with things like endometriosis which is probably what it is... I was re-reading the symptoms this morning and I basically have almost all of them... my current dr did not want to do exploratory surgery to confirm it because she said none of my radiology scans indicate it and "treatment would be the same either way...." so I'm actually in the process of requesting all test results from all of the doctors I have gone to in the past couple of years including the actual ultrasound/CT scan/MRI/etc etc images so I have a nice package of information that I can review and also take to a new doctor who will hopefully give me some answers...

Diana - Sorry to hear that your dr's advise is all he had for ya...bummer. Glad your bloat is lowering though... loved the bloat but dry comment though, I busted :)

No workout last night, was dealing with son. Today I probably won't either... after being away from home over 13hrs for work... I will be helping DD who is having her surgery today. She will not be able to walk, so will be up all night carrying her to bathroom, etc. She is a trooper though. Maybe if DH makes supper I can sneak in a quick something for workout...if not, I won't beat myself up over it - life priorities are taking over for right now. I will watch what I eat though, knowing I may not have any exercise calories to spare. Hope you all have a good day!

I just got back from the doctor... I know that different scales read weight differently and of course having shoes and clothes on, but wow what a downer. I was 387 on the doctors scale. When I came home I weighed on my home scale with my shoes and clothes 386, which is one pound off. Who knew clothes and shoes weighed so much geeze!?!

I have an Upper Reseratory Infection and Ear Infection caused by a cold that has been going around. They said some people have been so lucky as to have this get in their chest and get a stomach ache and diarrea. Plus side is I don't yay.

I just went clothes shopping... Well, should say, clothes trying on, not buying. And I'm now solidly in a size 10 for most designers I love. But, I can wear 8s in other designers I like. I can eyeball a pair of pants or dress and figure out if they will fit or not and when I try them on, sure enough! I did buy one spring dress today in a size 8. It fits ok now, will fit even better in 5-10 pounds. And I looked so trim in it. Me? Trim? Who would have thunk it?

Good news - went to the doctor yesterday. I was 10 pounds down from my Dec 20 visit. And I can stay off meformin at least until my next visit in 4 months.

Bad news - Celbrated by getting a six pack of the tall cans of beer.

Good news - weighed myself today and was down another two pounds to 241. :carrot:After my cross country bike trip in 2009 I ended at 220, and quickly got back into the 240's where I've mostly been since then. Would be nice to see the 230's and 220's again.

ilovemo Keep up the good work, hopefully you can sneak some more vegetables in.

Damilya I'll be in the Netherlands next week for 2 hours. Changing planes at Amsterdam before heading to Oslo and then Moscow. Business trips are always hard to not gain weight on for me.

qtkitty Don't worry about the scales. I went throught that at the doctor's yesterday. As long as you are comparing apples to apples, you'll get a good idea of the changes going on.

Having another good day on plan. I'm finally down over 10 lbs since I started my weight loss on Dec 13. Yippee! I promised that when I hit 15lbs, that I will put up those little 5lb markers on my signature. I want at least 3 to start.

BuffJim - Great news on the weight loss!
Berry -- I would love to be a size 10. Congrats!
Ilovemo - Add those Vegi's, even if you just have a couple of "go-to's"
Gaining - Congrats on the loss!
qtkitty - Don't fret the scale. Keep to your plan and you'll be fine. Get well soon.

Everyone else..... Hang in there and stay on your plans!

I was right...the 184 was a fluke. Scale read 187 again this morning. Stupid scale! Could be the salt from pistachios and tortilla chips I had yesterday. Hope so!

iloveMO: Eat yer veggies!!

qtkitty: Stupid scale. Glad you got a diagnosis and presumably meds. Feel better soon!

ItsMyTurn: Thinking about your DD today. Hope everything goes well!

JoJoP: Glad you're feeling so good!

LittleBrownBike: Glad you're going to a new Dr. You should have to suffer like this!

GainingWeightinLA: Congrats on your new low!

Berry: Have fun at your double combo class!

Diana: I don't know, how can you feel bloated and dried out at the same time? :)

Italiannie: You're doing a great job too!!

Melissa - Congrats on how you were able to feel trying on clothes! I am so happy for you!

BuffJim - Great job on the news at the dr. and for the loss!

Italiannie - Great job on the 10lb marker! Excellent!!!

Moondance - It's MY theory that TODAY's scale reading was a blip ;) Tortilla does it to me every time, the sodium level... so probably what it is. As for DD, thank you very much, we need all the good vibes we can get right now. She already has had 2 complications - DH is keeping me posted via email. I am not going to breathe easy til I hear she is out and recovery is fine.

Have a massive stress headache right now. I blew up at a lady at work... something she said I took in a way that was NOT good timing for... long story, but... have 2 amazing coworkers who have helped me tremendously to stay on task and reassure me for my girl. I feel fortunate to have some good friends here... just have to get through, hear she is good, get home and see for myself - then it will be fine. :) Great job to everyone on their progress!!!!! I am so happy for each and every one of you!!!

LittleBrownBike, my pics were at the very beginning of my journey....and my weight was falling off VERY quickly! (Unfortunately, that STOPPED! lol) No real secrets......burn more than I put in. That's it. Sorry. :( Thanks for noticing though. I'm planning another pic to add to those.....when I get my round-to-its together (get a round to it....lol.....maybe that only makes sense to me??)

Had another NSV today. I've been married 18 1/2 yrs....tried on my wedding dress several months ago and lacked two inches being able to zip it up. Today, it fits like the day I married (when I was 20 years old!!!) I'm still pretty emotional about it....I'm in complete awe! I, like berryblonde, went today and tried on clothes at the store. I am solidly in a misses Large. XL's are too big, officially. NEVER thought I'd get here, honestly. I am beyond pleased.......but not pleased enough to stop. In fact, I think I'll go work out now. I'm suddenly inspired to do so!

Hope everyone else is having a GREAT hump day!

Diana in LA woohoo on the wedding dress! That had to feel amazing! I got married when I was 23 and I weighed 15 pounds morer than I do now, so my wedding suit (married Ina courthouse) is already getting too big. I didn't think that would ever, ever happen. it's amazing how we amaze ourselves, isn't it?

Diana3271 being a responsible adult bites sometimes. Get a good night of sleep and see you tomorrow!

Buffjim congrats on the 10 pounds, but go easy on the beer! One a day and walk it off!

After going to the dr I grabbed something to eat. Shouldn't have but did. Came home and crashed. Then when I picked up my dd she wanted nuggets.. tonight I couldn't deal with the crying all the way home so caved again.

damiilya~ I can understand that... and as goofy as it sounds I actually lost weight when I did a ton of baking ( just for the joy of it ) before I moved in with my mom. Of course then I had a whole neighborhood that always seemed to have timing down to drop buy when baked goods were coming out of the oven *LOL* I loved it though.

berryblondeboys~ Wooooow !!! I bet your looking snazzy.
The scale at the doctors did go down.. Just interesting that clothing change and scales make such a difference.

BuffJim~Oh I am not worried.. I have a formula now so I am a-ok *LOL* I will know how much I will weigh before they do. Unless they have their scale adjusted. *shrugs* It was down enough the doctor asked if weight loss was something intentional *LOL*

Italiannie~ I am so sticking to the plan.. although today was questionable with content I kept the calories in check.

Moondance~ Yeah That stupid scale is going down * snickers* So did get meds and already have the second dose in my system

ItsMyTurn~ Thank you .. I am sorry to hear you had one of “those” days ..I hope you feel better as well

GainingWeightInLa~ Wow congrats!! ... Hmmm so now would be time for a little informal vow renewal right .... while the wedding dress still fits and doesn't get to big.

Diana~ I hope you got a nice do….. And that your day was busy but in a good non stressful way.

This is my first post. I am 27 in a month and need to take back control of my life. Today I ate two pieces of buttered toasted, a banana, a handful of sesame sticks, an edamame and quinoa salad, a serving of baked doritos, 3 margarita's, a handful of tortilla chips and Quezon, grilled chicken sandwich, and French fries. No real exercise.... but the alarm is set, just need to.make.myself.

Good Morning Everyone,

Yesterday weight skyrocketed up to 206.6, I have no idea why. I drop one pound of it by this morning's weigh in. I need to get back to exercising, I should have seen under 200 by now. Body isn't cooperating anymore...so I have to whip it back into shape. :)

Diana Did you enjoy your day; cut and color? It's funny how when we're kids we want to be an adult, but once we make it, we want to be young again. And responsibility, blah that's only for the courageous  I hope you have a great day.

Diana LA awesome, getting back into your wedding dress. I think Berry had that success not to long ago (pant outfit, I believe). I was thinking that would be cool to make a goal, but I didn't have a wedding and I probably tossed out my baby doll frock a long time ago. But how cool, after 18 years to be able to say "look, it still fits" or "look, it fits again." Congratulations. :)

ItsMyTurn How did things go? I hope your little one is doing better?

BuffJim awesome success on 10lbs down...I'm with Berry, one beer and walk and a happy dance (you know Zumba :p). Seriously tho, congrats, keep up the good work.

Bridget :welcome: jump (rope) right in. ;)

Berry I, too, hit the store yesterday. I'm loving Savers. I never thought I'd get addicted to second hand stores, but I'm getting near new labeled clothes and loving the price of $3-8. One down side is I got attached to a pair of jeans and the zipper went, that happens when they've gone through two or maybe three owners. Yesterday, I picked up 3 pants and a shirt (that I totally don't why other than the color) for under 20 bucks. I'm also loving the variety. I always thought I was satisfied with the jeans and t-shirt look, because I'm such a tom-boy, but today I'm wearing pin strip slacks and a sweater. It's something I would never have dared to wear before. I'm becoming my own dress up doll, something I haven't done in a very long time and I'm loving that I'm doing it cheap :) Congrats to you!

qtkitty I hate when the doctor's scale doesn't match up to mine, but when it's significant loss, it really doesn't matter because the doctor can see the difference. Last year I held out my annual until I saw 50lbs because I wanted my doctor to be impressed with me. After all, it was her scale that made me face reality.

 to everyone I missed. :)

DH is on his way home and I am pleased to say, I ate this week. I made calories or close to, all week. Now if I can toss in that exercise, it would be nice to see 200 by the end of the month. I'm wondering now if I can see 100lbs lost by my birthday? I might make that my next goal. We'll see. :)

I hope you have a wonderful and healthy day!

morning all. Down .2 this morning to an even 174.0 No soreness from last night's workout, so I must be getting back in the swing of things. Tonight is yoga again.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a bodymedia fit gizmo. As I'm approaching maintenance, I want to see if I can take some more of the guess work out of my eating and activities. I don't just "run". I do all sorts of stuff - I bike, I do yoga, I do step, I do spinning, I do dance aerobics sometimes, I do strength training and then I garden and work around the house a lot. I need to try to figure out how those calories add up and I love gizmos. I still haven't gotten myself a birthday present (bday was in December), so this would be it (DH and I don't exchange gifts - we just get what we want for ourselves within reason).

Have a good day all!

Melissa, qtkitty, and Mamakat - thank you all for asking about my DD. They ended up having to put her totally under, and instead of just working on her knee - it ended up being right knee, left ankle, right wrist, and left elbow. This is one of those times it sucks to be a parent and not be able to comfort no matter what you do.. she is hurting, but home (I will take it).

Needless to say, no workout last night. I am trying to just stay awake at work today - that will be an accomplishment. Hopefully I will get a 2nd wind (who am I kidding... 5th wind) and be able to pull something out tonight. I super appreciate the well wishes though, and I shared them with Amber, showing her folks were asking about her and it made her smile - so thank you so much for that!!!! :D

So here's what i ate today!

Breakfast - shake
Lunch - spinach with apple cidar vinegar and extra virgin olive oil
snack- pure protein bar
Dinner - 8 oz of seasoned chicken and 1 cup spinach with and vinegar and oil
snack - 1 cup spinach and protidiet soup.

i'm surprisingly rarely hungry. I get excited about continuing, I think truly in my heart i will lose it all this time.

:comp: Daily check-ins are not very daily for me. Plus I'm still learning how to use this forum. I'm checking in today anyway. Did pretty well on calories today which surprised me after eating at Panera Bread. I actually had a really filling salad and soup and didn't over do it. Yay!

Good Morning and TGIF! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! :carrot:

Calories for yesterday: 1440 + :coffee2:
Weigh In: 147.6
No Change

Maybe I won't be having any extra sodium gain from the Japanese restaurant. I'm still waiting on TTOM, though. I'll fight my battles, one at a time, thank you very much. ;)

Morning all! Up .2 on the scale this morning. If, big if, my body is back to normal, this is the stall-out period of the month. I actually hope things are back to normal. I like predictability, even if it does mean dealing with 2 weeks of stalling out. That's better than this roller coaster up and roller coaster down I was on this past month.

Happy Friday! :D ok...Friday deserves some dancing...:carrot:

Scale was nice to me, despite the girl scout cookie binge yesterday. If I can just keep my head on straight this weekend...

Taking my DD's on a date tonight. A movie I really want to see opens today (One for the Money), so we're going to movie and then dinner. I am pre-planning my meal choice, but why, oh why do restaurants have to be so high in calories?? DD#2 turns 15 on Monday, so we're going to her favorite Japanese Hibatchi on Sunday (Diana, I'm reminded of you!). Hope the sodium doesn't kill me for weigh-in on Monday. Otherwise, it's laundry, laundry, laundry this weekend (mamakat, I'm reminded of you!). Oh goody.

Berry: Here's hoping you're back to normal. Predictability is always comforting!

DocAuD, HappyDay, MrsMurphy: Hi! Welcome to check-in.

Diana: It occurred to me while reading your post just how complex a system our bodies are. And each one is completely unique. No wonder there's not a manual...its not one size fits all. I commend you for continuing to work on writing your own personal manual! I realized yesterday with my cookie binge, I had quit listening to my stomach and was only listening to my taste buds. Bad choice...my taste buds are selfish and don't have my best interest at heart!

JoJoP: Sounds like you're on a great path!

GainingWeightinLA: Did you make your all time low? Good job staying on plan!

Jim: Hi! Have a great day!

It'sMyTurn: Great job on the walking!! How is your DD? I hope she's healing quickly!

Damiilya: Hi! Have a great day!

Diana, Moondance - Thank you so much for asking about DD. She sure is miraculous! She is walking without any assistive device: no walker, no cane... all her. She is moving slow, but moving independently!!!! So happy. She came downstairs today with hair fixed, make up on, and dressed saying she is going to school :O I can take some lessons from her on strength I tell ya!!! I have been reading to her when you all ask and it has honestly made her face brighten up, so thank you for that... it's a bit more support for her too and a gift to me :D You all rock!!!!!

I left work early yesterday by an hour due to being so tired, was worried if I stayed that I would be unable to make drive home. I totally vegetated at home and managed to sleep 4 1/2 hrs straight without waking or interruption! I feel so much better today for it. Today is Friday, and the weekend will be upon us starting tonight, so the plan is to finish catching up on sleep :) I also want to get in some fun workouts this weekend where I can fit them in :D I love weekends! I sure hope you all have an awesome day!!!!

Diana - thank you for the hugs too...even cyber hugs help :)

My info for yesterday:

Yesterday was really hectic at work, I skipped breakfast and lunch and didn't eat anything until dinner. For dinner around 6:30 I had a bowl of chicken and rice (white rice, canned tomatoes, frozen corn, boneless skinless chicken breast) Atfer dinner I had 1/2 of a homemade chocolate chip muffin and 1/2 cup chocolate chip ice cream. So, not the best day, but somehow I managed to have no coke and stay away from the snack vending machines.

Exercise: 2.62 mi bike ride with the dogs, 22:58 minutes

Today so far:

Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. - 1 egg and 1 slice of white bread

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 1/2 cup of the chicken/rice leftovers

My mom is doing the "couch to 5k" running program thing... I have downloaded their iphone app and am going to give it a try and see how I like it...

My scale this morning was at 195.6 which is the lowest so far and lowest it has been in at least 6 months if not more... my 5% mini goal is 194.75 so I'm pretty close... even though its only 5% I'm really looking forward to it... I plan to get lots of exercise in this weekend... Mom and dad are coming down for the weekend and they have been walking 4 or 5 miles a day so I told them to plan to continue that trend for the 3 days they will be visiting so I can go with them :)

Attention all cooks and bakers! I need some advice!

Has anyone ever made anything like this? http://allrecipes.com/recipe/apple-pan-betty/Detail.aspx I want to do something like this and put vanilla ice cream over it. I am looking for something very simple and only a few ingredients. It looks like it's a great option, but I just don't know about how the bread will taste. TIA

HIII ALL! :) So one question for you guys.. this seems abnormal but I went from 191-187 in a week from low carbing it.. and no matter what time of day I check its at 187 so I know that its not a fluke.. Im eating less, but not that much less.. pretty much whatever I want except no bread/wheat/sugar.. seems pretty fast yet normal? idk? inputs?

Anyways today

Breakfast- Coffee

Lunch/snack- Chipotleeeee! Yay! No rice or beans--Steak, tomato salsa, hot salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, squirt of lemon Chipotle website claims "630 cals" but Im going to round up to 1000 bc it was a ton of food.. so delicious!

Dinner- String cheeseee and some trail mix (150)

Approximate ~ 1200

ilovemo in the beginning of low carbing (at least for my husband and I) you lose a good deal. Atkins book reads (if I remember correctly) you can lose up to 14 in two weeks. It will slow down, but for the most part, you see a downward trend. So yeah, I'd say its normal, for the beginning, but don't expect to always be like that :) Sometimes you'll have a slow week, sometimes you'll get a whoosh. At least this is what I've experienced. :)

Thanks Berry. I have a recipe that I use, but it's more detailed than I want to do and it uses alot of nuts. Don't want to do that.

Bear with me here. Would you do it in a pot like they are suggesting and cook it in like they do with the bread? Or are you saying to bake it in the oven? Which would be the easiest and taste the best? What do you recommend? Also, how much of the quick rolled oats? If you could give me a base recipe I could work from. :o I don't do very well with desserts. I have to follow an exact recipe or box to get it to work right. I can do regular cooking that way, but not baking. :o Thank you.

Diana maybe it would be better to follow the recipe as it is. The texture will be way different if you did oats and you might not like it. And, no, I don't have a recipe for what I do. I wing it. That is the problem with us bakers, we can't really tell anyone how to do what we do, but show it. But next time I make an apple crisp, my healthy version, I'll pay more attention to what I do and fill you in, Ok?

It sounds like it will be good, but how could it not be? It's apples and cinnamon and ice cream!

This is all too true as well. I have learned that the hard way. But if you add the carbs back in slowly, you can tell how much is too much. I know going over 50 grams is too much for me. But others can go over that and still lose weight.

I decided that I am going to make an apple crisp. I am going to work from a recipe that I have. Wish me luck. ;)

Moondance Yes, I agree! The body is very interesting and we are all different. I have issues with sodium, but my Mom and DH doesn't. They both pile on the salt but I avoid it like the plague. :dunno: Enjoy the movie/dinner with your DD's.

Itsmyturn I hope you are able to get some rest this weekend. You really need it. Hang in there. How is your DD today? I wish I could give you an extended weekend (with pay). ;)

Littlebrownbike Congrats on the new low!

Diana~ When we make apple crisp we use one of several topping methods… both are baked.

Cut 3-4 apples ( brauburn or stayman are wonderful) into slices
Toss with 1-2 Tsp. Cinnamon( I usually put more but I love spice, I have even put in a little ginger and Nutmeg sometimes Or apple pie spice ), 1-2Tsp Lemon Juice, Sugar or honey of preferred ( depends on how sour the apples are could be that you need none … my gram doesn’t add sugar to this part )

Pour into baking vessel ( unless you mixed in your baking vessel)

Topping Version 1
Use to 1/3 of a cake mix ( white, yellow, spice, lemon are all yummy) and a couple Table spoons of soft Butter smoosh together with a fork ( basically cuts the butter into the cake mix to make a crumble ) Sprinkle over apples.

Topping Version 2

Use 1/3 ( Cake mixes usually ask for 3 eggs which this makes it easy to divide) of cake mix and make as normal and pour over apples makes a thin layer of cake over apples.

Topping Version 3

Mix:
1/4c Flour
1/2c Oatmeal
1-2 Tsp Cinnamon

Sprinkle mixture over apples. Then drizzle with a Couple of Tbsp of butter
Or
Cut in butter to mixture with a fork and sprinkle over Apples

No matter the topping Bake 350 until golden brown.

To reduce calories more you could use Greek Yogurt instead of butter ( you would need less yogurt cause its wetter than butter.. Ok neat article http://www.ehow.com/how_7697831_substitute-yogurt-butter.html) , egg beaters or egg whites instead of the whole egg, and apple sauce instead of oil. If your not getting the golden crust like using butter or oil you could do a quick spray of butter flavored cooking spray over the top.

Any fruit works with any of these toppings versions… there are limitless different desserts by making cobblers. My gram does blueberries ( she has 3 bushes so yeah blue berry season there are gallons many are frozen for winter .. Minus the cinnamon), Blackberries or Raspberries (there are briars all over with the berries.. Minus the cinnamon and adding a bit of sugar when they are sour), Pear ( She has a tree), Apple of course ( again they have a tree). I have had this with peaches, mixed frozen berries, pumpkin. Basically it is what ever you like. My gram even made a small batch of popovers and put it over the top once.. Puff pastry.. Store bought pie crust.

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you have a great weekend!

Calories for yesterday: 1440 + :coffee:
Weigh In: 146.2
Down: 1.4 pounds

It looks like my allergic reaction is starting to subside. TTOM still hasn't arrived, yet.

The day we left for vacation I was 146.6. My low for December was 145. I would like to get back down to around 143. I didn't realize this months ago, but I like getting that low because if I have an allergic reaction, my weight doesn't get in an uncomfortable zone. Meaning, clothes too tight, etc. Three or four pounds didn't make that much of a difference when I weighed a lot more. It does now. :dizzy:

qtkitty Thanks for the info and link. I think I am going to do something similar to topping 3. I am going to try to reduce the flour. I like the idea of the yogurt. I have been using plain Greek yogurt more now with my food allergy. I use it to make sauces/salad dressings, etc. Good stuff! I probably won't experiment with the yogurt this time. I will probably do that when I make a single serving of something for me. ;) DH gets kinda weirded out when I start experimenting.

Diana let us know how the apple crisp turns out!!!

So yesterday in the afternoon I had 1/2 a small tropichop from Pollo Tropical... it had lettuce, cooked onions and chicken breast... from the looks of it, about half a chicken breast.... I ate all of the chicken and about 1/2 of the lettuce and onions.

Dinner wasn't as good, I was really starving when I got home and I had to go out and do an errand and didnt get back until 8... we ended up ordering a Sir Pizza (very thin pizza cut into squares...) we got a small ham and cheese pizza between the two of us and I ate about half (or less, but not more)... also ate 1/2 of a small order of baked fries and 1 8oz glass of coke... so not fantastic but hopefully better than what I would have done in the past which would have been a BK run with a fried chicken sammich, small cheeseburger, large order of fries, large coke...

Today we will be having lots of BBQ - not with sauce though, we only do dry BBQ seasonings so maybe a baked potato though and some corn and lots of chicken/veggie skewers etc...

My weigh in this morning was 195.8 so up .2 from yesterday but thats awesome considering I was sure the 195 was a fluke...

I hope everyone has a fantastic day...

Good Morning Everyone,

Have been dealing with sleep issues so really haven't been on the computer. Also when I am up, I'm trying to get my writing in. I started to do laundry on Wednesday but ended up in bed. Hopefully I'll even out soon. We'll see.

Sorry I haven't been around to encourage everyone. I see a lot of new comers have arrived :welcome:. I see a lot of you have been doing wonderfully staying on plan. :cheer: awesome job. It looks like most are exercising. :cheer: super, wish I could get off my lazy butt and join you. I will do my best to be here more. ((She says as she yawns and rubs her eyes)).

ItsMyTurn I'm sorry things didn't go according to plan for your DD, 4 at once is a lot for anyone to handle. But at the same time, she won't have to keep going back since it was all done at the same time. Unless of course it's a reoccurring procedure. She is so amazing, like I said before. A lot of people would have laid in bed, and rightly so I mean pain hurts! But she not only got up and moved around, but she did it without assistance. I know how hard that must be. I mean, I had to use a cane for only one bad body part and I am one of those people who will lay in bed rather than get up and go. She is super. She is an inspiration to a lot of people around her, I'm sure. Can you just see how many will say, "I hurt and don't want to do it." And then they see or remember your DD and her wonderful, courageous determination. She really is remarkable and what a blessing to know someone so inspirational, I know you are a very proud mother. I hope she recovers quickly and I hope she always remains positive (side note, I don't pray, but if I did, I would pray for her.) So all my best vibes ((best vibes)) to your daughter and to your family...you are all very remarkable.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and healthy day!

Hi Everyone!
Had a pretty good 2 days On Plan. I did eat an extra slice or two of italian bread. Weather has been cold and damp, and sometimes that just makes me hungry. Having friends in for dinner tonight after church. Making home made minestrone soup - high on the vegis and beans, low on the pasta, big salad and light dessert. Should be fine for me.

Scale is staying firm at the 188lb mark. No up or down.

Have a great weekend everyone, just in case I don't check in before Monday.

Diana, you look so amazing. What was your top weight again? I know the 292 is where you had gotten back up to, but you were higher than that, right?

And do you have any problems with loose skin? And if you did/do, have you been finding it getting better with time (now that you've been maintaining for awhile)?

And about your allergic reaction symptoms and the weight gain. I totally hear you on the few pounds making a difference in how your clothes fit. It is so true. I'm not even the yet and I'm seeing it in these smaller sizes too when I lose a gain just a few pounds.

Berry Thank you. The highest weight that was recorded was 352 or 358. I say "recorded" because I had already lost some weight when I got this number. I was diagnosed w/hypothyroidism and started on meds. I'm not sure how high I was, but it was between 350-400. I have loose skin on my inner thighs, abdomen, arm area above elbow, and chest area. I think it has improved some. I am doing a new workout program right now. I want to see if there is anymore improvement with this addition. I doubt that there will be a lot of difference, but I still want to give it a try. Last Summer, I saw a normal size woman, wearing shorts, and her legs looked like mine. I realized that it's not so bad. Not great, probably not acceptable for other people, but OK for me. :dunno: I am not willing to have surgery to correct anything, though. The loose skin are my battle scars to live with. Also, if I were to gain 20 or 30 pounds, it wouldn't make any difference in how the skin looks. Mine has been like this for a long time.

Hello ladies, I am brand new to the game. Not sure what diet to go on, but for starters I am cutting down on carbs, increasing water, and cutting down portion sizes. This should give me a kick start. I love the site, it looks to be full of motivation, which will help. Wishing everyone a good luck. I weigh 168, so by end of February I want to lose 5 lbs!

5 lbs down just this week! Finally!

Just in time too I was about to lose my mind. A good friend at work told me I had put my body into survival mode. Going from normal active working life pretty healthy diet to strenuous workouts 4-5x wkly mainly water and only healthy foods (uncooked veggies salads fresh fruit water water water tuna white meat chicken grilled etc) will do that I guess. Anyhow I slowed down this week only walked 2 miles instead of running 2-3 and did the stationary bike instead of strength training. I've lost 2 pant sizes and 5.5 lbs this week! Weird that my body reacted this way but glad to see the scale move even a few notches.

Yes, Schiphol. I've been there 3 or 4 times, but never had the chance to get out anywhere else in the Netherlands. My vacation is 5 days after I get back from Russia. We're going on a cruise in the Caribbean, and I can't wait for some warm weather!

Ohhh, nice, Caribbean, I also want to go there! Hehe.. Have a great time!

And hey everyone, I hadn't been here for a few days now, sorry.. Yesterday went not so well and today too. Yesterday I had my kempo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenpō) exams, so after that my friends came to my house and we had some tea with cookies, and I ate a lot of them. Bad >.< And today I ate a LOT of bread and in two hours I'm going to a Chinese restaurant and I know I'll totally overeat. But tomorrow I'm getting back on track, I promise!

I did lose a (very) few pounds this week though. I plan to weigh-in every saturday and so I did this morning. I weighed 132.9 lbs (haha XD). Perhaps it was because I ate a lot yesterday evening (actually night, at 10pm), so it seemed I almost didn't lose any weight. I really hope so.

Sexybac - thats what I did, I'm not doing a diet per se, I've basically cut my portions size in half, upped my water, and tried to cut out unhealthy foods. I previously was eating McDonalds at least once or twice a week, drinking 4 or 5 cans of coke a day, only having one or two meals a day etc... I've lost around 9 lbs this month doing that, also I have been riding my bike more... On Jan 3rd I weighed 205 and this morning I weighed 195.8.... I hope to be more successful in the coming weeks by continuing to improve my eating and increasing my water intake and bike riding...

Quick post, I'll be back later for personals.

I had this for lunch today: http://www.garden-lites.com/get-real-food/frozen-souffles/roasted-vegetable/

I bought the spinach and zucchini variety. I've had these in my freezer for about a week. I was wanting something today that would be ready when I got out of the shower, without me having to do anything. I was getting hungry. :D Anyways, I am a big eater, so I decided to cook both of them. They are very filling and I think one would suffice for most people. Two were just right for me. :o I'm not thrilled with the amount of sodium in them. I loved the taste/flavor, though. I think they are kinda expensive, but I bought them on sale and I used coupons. That made the price good. I would highly recommend these. No crazy ingredients, either. I thought about making my own, but then decided if I was going to do that, the easiest thing would be to make an omelet. After they were ready, I let them set for a little while to firm up. I'm glad I did this. The other issue with making them myself would be the problem of getting all the water out of the veggies. I think they would end up too "wet" if I made them. Anyways, they were a nice little treat today. I got 4 extra servings of veggies along with protein and fiber.

Those look great! I actually make something like that with either spinach or zucchini, but you are right, you have to squeeze out the liquid so that your eggs don't get too soggy. What I make though is a frittata. You make it like a big omelet and then beforer it is cooked all the way through, sprinkle it with a bit of cheese and then pop it in preheated oven until the cheese melts and crisps a bit. (go easy on the cheese or omit it).

This takes time though, I use frozen spinach, thaw it, cook it and then squeeze the liquid out in a thin dish towel or several layers of dish clothes. With the zucchini, I shred it in the food processor and then squeeze the liquid out. That squeezing of the liquids is a mini workout in itself. then you cook it with the eggs.

That frozen variety you found would be a great fast meal alternative. From scratch you are looking at 45 minutes or so.

Diana you are absolutely amazing. Have you ever done a goal post? With true before photos or shared with others your whole journey? There are so many here on 3FC who started where you were and it would give them so much hope to see your success at the weight loss and the success at maintenance. Not to put pressure on yourself, but to give hope to others who might feel they are so far gone that there is no hope.

And your spots for loose skin are my spots too. And no, I won't do surgery either. I'll just wear longer shorts and not run around the world naked! :)

Diana~OMG you are so pretty ... and teeny wow... even some women who have been thin all their lives have extra skin issues.. expecially the arm "bat wings" I have heard some people call them. I think no matter what I will just be so happy the weights gone that I will be ok.

I hope your pie turns out extra yummy. You can always use those small glass bakable containers with the red plasic lids to make multiple single servings at a time and once cool stuff them in the freezer.

*LOL* I am known for experimenting in the kitchen... my mom saw some new things come in in the grocery bags and on the grocery list before I left and she specifically asked me if I was up to something. You could hear the whiney inner child saying but I don't want to eat something healthy *lol*

They did not have any big tubs of greek yogurt at the grocery store I trust to keep their product cold, so I will have to try Walmart again ( last time I ended up with mold on it very quickly.) I need some Vanilla for the pie I want to try, which my mom has already turned her nose up at. I told her she is free to try it and if she doesn't like it she doesn't have to eat any. I found rye flour to make some ontbijtkoek ( cause it sounds yummy!) Steel cut oats and Polenta for a little something different in the mornings. I got my veggies to make more veg for myself.I also got some Roasted red Peppers, Sun Dried Tomato Spread and Chinese hot mustard for a little something different ( these three things I know mom likes so she will be into them too).

That Veg Soufle looks about like the veg I make to put in my eggs and what ever else the mood hits me. I really should add some squash to the mix. Mmmm That could be super yummy. Something else to tease my co workers noses with at work. *lol* I have had co workers sniffing up and down the hall trying to figure out what smelled so good. It was me and my 250 cal Breakfast sandwich *rotfl*.. I guess its sort of mean in a way but it makes me feel good that people are envious of my sandwich and to know its good for me is wow.

Diana and Mamakat - Thank you both so much :) Your words mean a ton to both her and I :D She is doing remarkably well and pushing forward!!!

Diana - Your pictures are amazing! You are so little now!!! What an amazing inspiration and journey! You have to tell us how your recipe came out!

As for me - Went to get my weekly weigh in done...and the scale died. How do I know? It said I weighed 124.4lbs, LOL!!! Ummmm NOPE! It was a funny start to the day, but totally NOT right! DH got on (apparently not believing me) and it said he was 134lbs... again... NOPE! !!!!! So, we are hoping it will reset and behave, if not, a new scale is in my future and I will be driven nuts by not having one until that day comes. I was able to enjoy a beautiful day in AZ today, went and played singles tennis and had a blast! It's exercise, but it's so much fun it doesn't feel like it!!! Mid 70's and sunny today.. a slight breeze, but nothing that hindered our playing.. yay!!!! Have a super day all!

Wow sounds like a great day! Maybe your scale just needs a new battery?

And what exactly did they do with your daughter in surgery? I'm trying to figure out how one limb turned into multiple limbs while she was under. That had to be quite a shock. And yes, she is quite the trooper. It's humbling.

I weight 185 and have had a really hard time getting on some kind of a regiment. First day posting in a while. Just eat way too much, whatever it is. Had 1 apple with a lot of cheese, left over chinese food, rotisserie chicken with artichoke pieces and salsa. Drinking some kind of low calorie stuff you squirt in a glass and had water and ice. Put splenda in it. So full tonight though, just so out of control and have been totally craving food ALL DAY LONG. Thanks for letting me share.

Hi Everyone!

The apple crisp was very good. I did put a little brown sugar in it, but not much. I knew the ice cream was going to be very sweet and rich. Most ice cream contains soy, a soy derivative or a legume based thickener. Haagen Dazs Five Ingredient ice cream doesn't have any of that. Of course the calories are up there. I could have bought their vanilla yogurt to save a few calories. Maybe I will do that the next time. ;)

Littlebrownbike Thank you! Oooh, the BBQ sounds great. How was it?

Mamakat Sorry about the sleep issues. I am having a little of hormonal insomnia, too. Were you able to go for a walk today? I hope you had a better day.

Italiannie Enjoy your dinner with friends.

Sexybac Hi and Welcome to the check-in! Good luck with your goals. :carrot:

Msthickmiddle Congrats on the 5.5 pounds! Keep up the great work!

Damiilya Try to eat a lot of veggies at the Chinese restaurant but go light on the sauces and fried foods.

Berry Yes, I think those veggies souffle's are great for a quick meal. I stayed full for 6+ hours. That's saying a lot for me. Especially for 280 calories. I think I made a post about hitting goal. :?: Maybe I didn't. I know I didn't do before/after pictures. I would have to scan a picture to do that. Sometimes I just feel weird about the whole thing. I don't know why. No one in my real life know how much I weighed in the past. My weight has never really come up, so I just don't talk much about it. I went to JC Penney today to look at the Spring/Summer clothes. I could not believe how short some of the shorts are. I swear they would not cover certain parts. :o

Qtkitty Thank you! Did you cook anything interesting today?

Itsmyturn Thank you! Look at you getting that exercise in! Tennis would be fun. I agree with Berry about the battery. Maybe the battery is bad. I'm glad your DD is doing better. Are you and the family having movie night tonight? A friend of mine saw Brides Maids (I think that's the name) and said it was really funny. Have you seen that one? Speaking of scales, the last time DH got on the scale it said he had lost like 20 pounds. I was floored! Then I noticed that he was pushing up on the cabinet to make himself weigh less.

Grabec Hi and welcome to the check-in! Maybe you could start off by just counting calories. Don't worry about a plan. Just work on staying within 1500-1600 calorie range. Work from that. Good luck!

Ilovemo The lettuce wrap, looks delish!

Diana~No, Unless you count baking myself under my comforter this afternoon while I posted on here *lol* I have things pretty much ready to do some stuff tomorrow though. Everything is clean so I can mess it up *rotfl* and then clean it again. I have a list of things to get into tomorrow:

~Buckwheat cakes ( for breakfast … yuuuummmmy I think that I am going to try and make some about sandwich size cakes and see how they hold up as the bread for a sandwich as something different. )

~Cut up lettuce (I have been making my own little bag salad from the salads that I get. This time I got micro greens, baby spinach , and artesian green and red lettuce, so not much chopping involved. I will wash them and dry then put in a zippy bag that I poke several holes in ( keeps it from getting slimy as fast at least in my experience). Then all I have to do in the morning is slap it in a “Tupperware” container with what ever condiments I feel like that morning. )

~ Make some Ontbijtkoek

~Make Veg ( I have several kinds of squash to choose from here so I think I may add some … or I may roast one and put some in the freezer to add with the veg .. Not sure which way I am going there .. But definitely not adding any oil .. I am almost tempted to roast this in the oven, but I do not know how that would turn out )

If I have time I may make some polenta squares( maybe put some squash in it).. Ya’ll probably noticed I am a carb-aholic.. I am trying to get into different carbs than wheat with less calories more fiber and more protein content.

Next time I go to the store I am going to have to get some more ground turkey and sausage seasoning or a recipe for it. I am craving some Sausage gravy with my Buckwheat cakes. When I make sausage gravy I drain all the grease and wipe out the pan then toast my flour and add my milk. However by using turkey or something I could lower the calories even more. Thinking out loud here.. Trying to satisfy the craving monsters and keep calories under control and make healthier choices.

The BBQ went very well... normally I would do baked potatoes and corn on the cobb etc... this time I didn't make anything except pretty much the meat...

We were so busy in the morning, we made time for a quick 1.8 mile bike ride with the dogs and then had a very busy time running errands. I skipped breakfast and lunch and then my parents arrived in the early afternoon... I had some kettle brand BBQ chips (8.5 oz bag between 6 people) and 2 cans of coke over the course of the BBQ. I had a burger on a white bun with 1 slice of white american cheese. Later in the evening I had a small slice of apple pie and 1 small scoop of chocolate chip ice cream...

I felt like I ate tons, in reality I ate 1/4 of what I would have normally eaten... normally I would have had a burger, a baked potato loaded, a corn on the cobb and probably some steak or chicken as well....

The food turned out perfect and we ended up having a few other people joining us and still had food left over for breakfast....

Exercise yesterday: 1.81 mile bike ride/15 minutes

Exercise today: 3.84 mile walk/1 hour 20 minutes

Breakfast today: did a big cook up with the family, I had 2 silver dollar pancakes, 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon and 6 oz fresh squeezed orange juice.....

We are going out to dinner later today at a local steakhouse.... other than that just relaxing and watching movies...

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend...

Well, just got home from dinner... I had 1 cosmo, numerous glasses of water, side salad which had mixed greens, bacon, corn and crutons with a buttermilk dressing, prime rib with loaded baked potato - ate all of the salad and 1/2 of the steak and 1/2 of the potato....... I'm STUFFFED... My mom left her purse in the lobby while we were waiting and didnt realize till we were leaving and thank god someone had turned it into the manager and it had everything inside of it...woosh!!
