Try the low-carb board, I believe there is a freestyle SS over there. I tried it for about 4wks and didn't loose anything but I liked the healthy feeling I got from it.

I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you in a long time. I'm sorry that SS didn't work for you, but I remember reading in one of Suzanne's books that it took her 2 months to see any weight loss. After doing WW for a few months I really miss the food on SS and the way of eating. So, I am incorporating SS and counting WW points and hopefully I'll be able to stick to it this time around. What plan are you doing now, and has it been successful? Do you still have a lot of snow in NYC?

Take care. Aleka

Hi Aleka!

I gave SSing a try and Atkins to but they just weren't for me. So i went back to WW and I try to keep it as sugar free as I can. It's working much better for me.

So how is SSing coming along for you? Did you just recently try WW again? I looked for the Lowcarb Freestyle on the low carb board but didn't see any, is it still going?

Glad that WW is working for you. I've been going to WW since Sept. and I've had good luck with it. I had been eating a lot of carbs and I was feeling BLAH! I remembered that I felt so much better SSizing, so I decided to eat mostly the Somersize way, by eliminating processed foods as much as I can, eating 1 carb meal a day, and having the "good" fats, and using the WW points to stay within my point range. I am on vacation for the next few weeks, so that is my plan when I return home, as I will resume my WW meetings. The Low Carb Freestyle had been going strong, but it dwindled down to about 3 of us that were posting regularly. I tried to find it the other day to post, but couldn't find it either. Let me know how the WW is doing for you. Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Aleka, so have you lost any weight doing a ss/ww style diet? I've only been doing this for 2wks and I lost 4#.

I'll check out the low-carb page sometime this week.

First off, congratulations on losing 4 lb.:cp: Are you just doing WW or are you combining SS & WW? About a week before we left on vacation, I did combine both and I lost 2 1/2 lb. My eating has not been very good while I'm away, but I try to keep the SS way of eating as much as possible. There were a few of us on the SS site that were doing both and we were posting just about every day with what we ate and the point values. Somehow the whole topic was deleted. I don't know why, we weren't bashing SS. We were only trying to support each other. Sometimes I wonder about that website.

Take care.

Hi Aleka,

I haven't been doing well over the past week. I bascially binged over the week, but I plan to get back OP starting monday. How are you doing combining SS and WW? Congrats on the 2.5 pounds lost!

I'm not exactly doing SS, but i'm just trying to choose bettter food. That sucks that they would delete a thread on SS board. I guess they feel threaten that you guys were discussing WW and SSing.

How'd you do this week?

I am still on vacation, and my eating has been horrible. DH & I have been walking 45 min. 4-5 days a week, so hopefully the damage won't be too bad. We only have another few days before we head home. I only hope we get home before war breaks out. We're leaving Sat. and hope to get home on Tues. Then it's back to eating right.

Over at the SS board, they seem to delete a lot of posts, and some of the people over there seem to be really nasty sometimes.

How are things going so far this week for you?

Take care and have a great evening.

Aleka,

I hope you get back home soon before or if theres a war as well. I wish we weren't even going to war but that's another subject in itself.

Well, since you've been eating badly and it's vacation time and all, I say just enjoy it! I've been doing horribly but I am doing better today. I just get into the icecream and before I know it, i've eaten a days worth of points in one meal.

Well, have fun!

How was your eating last week? Mine was horrible still. We got home last Monday and I've been trying to get things back in order. I just finished up vacation laundry yesterday! Thankfully we made it home before the war started. I am so saddened by the whole thing. My heart goes out to all the families who have loved ones over there.

I put on a pair of jeans Sat., that used to fit me. Well, they were a little snug, not bad, but I don't want to them to get any tighter. So...it's back to WW on Tues. I will incorporate a lot of what I learned on SSizing, no white flour, sugar, processed foods, etc. I don't think I can do the food combining, as I need a carb with a pro/fat meal.

We've started out Free Style thread again. Why don't you join us over there. We are just doing our own thing, not necessarily low carb.

Take care.

HI, I have been on other boards here just coming back has been awhile. so dropped in on this one. are you just doing different eating plans. I get alot of encouragement reading what others are doing to help them. I am in TOPS. went to there board to.

ALEKA, saw your boston bull picture. Is that your dog? I own one and we just love him. i chose the picture they have on here but its not like that one is why i am asking.
I will try and come here more often. i go to other boards and sites to. enjoy reading them and responding. good luck all and have a great week. LaDean:)

Another person owned by a Boston! They are the best dogs. Yes, that is my baby. We absolutely love her and she's spoiled rotten! How old is your Boston? Our's is in the terrible 2's, and she has a mind of her own.

How are you doing with TOPS? I like to see what other people are doing, hoping to get some inspiration. I tend to get bored with an eating plan when I do it for a long time. I have done Somersizing, and it's a great eating plan. It was very hard for me to lose weight on it, but I did lose size, and I got discouraged and stopped. I'm trying to get back to doing it again along with WW, and hopefully I'll be successful.

Looking forward to hearing from you again.

ALEKA, oh so good to meet someone else with a BOSTON. yes they own there masters for sure. ours was 1 1/2 years when we got him. he was potty trained and all. He is such a good little dog and we love him dearly even though he OWNS us :D We have had him 10 years. so hes older. last year he had a stroke. lefted his little lefted leg numb. so he drags it. he was a sick one. we prayed alot and cryed alot. prayers were answered. hes so much better now but tilts the head and drags his little leg. i take him out and about our place for walks. hes not been trained for a leash. so by time i get him back in hes tired out. but hes his old self now playful and all. but sleeps alot. Gee i remember when we first got him how fisty and all. so we went through 2's to. fun though isn't it. hes our baby to. well i guess this is enough about my baby.ha ha
Getting back to the ss plan now. I went on it for little bit. but i kept forgetting to not eat carbs with fats or what ever.ha so i have been on the Prism. and lost wt on it and i combine it with my ww to. I just do ww on my own have all the material. but i also change off and on. mixed some make my own.ha i have my exercise down pat. and did eating till i got back on sugar. thought i could use it sensibly. but i am not ready for that yet. so back to none now.ha Just got in from a bike ride. just little one. but has been awhile. i have no butt all wt is in top area. so of course my butttt is sore.ha but need to do a bit each day. well better hush now. till later. have a great weekend and thanks for an answer. i will be coming back. LaDean:) I will just have to use this picture i am new at this and do not know how to put one on of my dog. ha HE IS LOTS CUTER. LOL

OOOH, you're poor little fella. I'm glad that he's doing well. I know what you're going through with an older dog. We had another Boston before we got this one. We had her for 13 yrs. She had a heart murmur which steadily had gotten worse and we did everything we could for her. I can relate to the crying and praying. It is sad when you remember how much they run around when they're younger. She and I shared a very special bond. I do share a bond with our new dog, but not as strong.
Ya, my rear doesn't have much padding either, it's mostly in the front. I have trouble with the food combining on SS. When I started WW and was able to have sandwiches I thought I had died and gone to heaven! I have seen other low carb books and they say to eat protein with carbs. So, you don't know who to believe.
My husband put the picture of our baby in for me. I only know how to turn on the computer and get to where I want to go

I am so sorry to hear about your other boston also. yes i hear they have heart attacks easy and all. after this last thing we got him on his own food. hes lots better on it . tuffy is his name and hes a tuffy to.,ha I am so glad i came back to the board. i saw you on here before and meant to ask and just never. then forgot all about it. i am on several boards. ha Me to know nothing but just to find things and get there on here. ha
Know what you mean about the sommers plan, i got on it and went into a chat on her site. but i have a time not mixing carbs and fats. it seem to me listening to them it takes quite awhile to start losing on it. i never really gave it time. ha I just watch my portions now and ww. On ww watchers i do not feel deprived of anything. so its a good plan i think. I lost real good then gained some back the normal old thing. so its today a new day and i got to get back to my portion measuring and being strict with it. also back to keeping track of my points. so i will come here often and keep in touch and see how were doing. have a fun weekend. LaDean:)

Hi Aleka,

Have you gotten back on plan? How are things going? I am still struggling but I manage to loose about 5# in the past couple weeks.

La Dean- Hi, I combine the concept of SSing on WW as well. I try to keep away from all the white sugar and flour, etc WW just works better for me. SSing had too many food rules for me and I did try Atkins that was to strict for me. I can't eliminate a food group but i can try to keep it as clean as I can. Does Tops work?

Kathy

LaDean
03-30-2003, 02:45 PM
KIT, well i go to tops for group help. it does keep me going and working at it yes. Is cheaper the ww to. i have all the ww things already so i use it and then i went off the sugar and all but it was the Prism Plan., it worked. so now got to get off this sugar again. its better.ha I am like you if it takes alot of remembering forget it. as i forget before i start doing it. lol so ww is easy and i still stick to my other rules on prism. well good luck and nice meeting you. have a great week the both of you. LaDean:)

Hope you're enjoying the weekend.

Kathy, congratulations on your weight loss! That's fantastic. :high: :cp: I am not having much luck getting into the full swing of Somersizing. It's all the food combining I'm having a problem with. I enjoy being able to eat a sandwich when I want one, and eating like a normal person. How are you incorporating SS & WW? Maybe I can get some ideas from you. I still stay away from white flour, sugar, and a lot of processed foods. I still do eat eggs, but only once a week, along with bacon and 1 slice of buttered toast.

LaDean, what is the Prism Plan? I've heard about it, but don't know how it works. I'm glad that it's working for you. How is Tuffy? Our Boston's name is Lacee (pronounced Lacy). Her name should be Tuffy because she likes to bark at dogs twice her size. She is a little brat.

Take care and have a good evening.

Hi ladies,

LaDean- I wanted to ask as well, what is the prisim plan?

Aleka- I have a horrible time following the rules of SSing, I feel deprived when I do SSing, so I just follow the theory about the refined sugar, white flour, etc. I don't get extreme w/ it. I also, stick to my LA weightloss basis and try not to have more than 1 or 2 starches a day, ex: 2 slices of diet bread for your sandwich on LAWL would be considered 2 starches, but I find that extreme as well. So I count 2 slices of diet bread one starch, I just tweek the programs to work for me and stay within my points so I won't feel overwhelmed and deprived and then before I know it i'm starting to binge because I feel hungry. I hope some of this can help. This is my usual Mon-Thu menu:
Breakfast-3eggs whites, 1/2c oatmeal, 1c 1% milk in the oatmeal
Lunch-large green salad, 2tbsp lowfat dressing 4oz tuna, diet soda
Snack-1Atkins shake or 1balance bar or 1 luna bar
Dinner- Large green salad, 2tbsp lowfat dressing, 4oz of meat, chicken or seafood. 1c strawberries, 2 graham crackers, diet soda

I eat differently on the weekends. Aleka and LaDean, what is your typical menu or the staple of your menu?

Kathy

aleka
03-31-2003, 10:48 AM
Kathy, thank you...what you posted really helps a lot. I'm always afraid I'm doing something wrong. Here is my typical day,
Breakfast: 1 cup bite-sized Shredded Wheat cereal w/ 1/2 c. blueberries or 1 cup strawberries and 1 1/2 c. skim or 1/2% milk (for some reason my breakfast stays with me longer if I have the extra milk),
black coffee, no sugar (high-test coffee)!
Lunch: 2 slices of diet bread, 2 oz. turkey from the deli, 1 slice low-fat cheese, lettuce, and tomato, 1 oz. baked Lays potato chips or 1 oz. Oat Bran pretzels, and Waist Watchers soda. Occasionally I will have a sugar-free fudgsicle, which is only 1 pt.
Snack: only if I'm hungry...1/3 c. Soy nuts and water.
Dinner: 4 oz. of meat with 2 vegetables and sometimes I'll put 1 T. of full fat dressing on one of the vegetables, just to get some fat in my diet. Waist Watchers soda, or iced tea w/sweetener.
Snack: S/F Jello or F/F -S/F pudding (made with skim milk), 2 T lite Cool Whip, and decaf coffee, black, no sugar.
I usually eat this way most days, one day on the weekend we'll have either pancakes or bacon & eggs. Speaking of pancakes. Did you ever try Suzanne's pancake mix? OMG they are to die for. We added frozen blueberries to the ones we made.:T

LaDean, hope you're having a good day.

Hope you both have a great day.

Its mainly No sugar , white flour products. no potatoes the first 6 weeks. then the 2nd 6 weeks you add them 2x day. then you each 6 weeks can add new things. like bread the 2nd 6 weeks to but has to be 100%whole wheat. then you can add pita bread, muffins and all weeks to. but mainly i just got off the sugar and all white flour products. so its alot like the others in that way. it just has a bible study with it and this is what helped me. but i got back to the sugar thinking i could be sensibly with it. as this is what i want. but i am not ready to be sensibly.ha ha i found this out as i gained some back. so today i am back to this plan. along with ww. I will leave a meal plan when i get back to being good.ha ha but oatmeal for breakfast. some fruit. then lunch. was vegies, protein and fruit. dinner the same. now being good this is how i ate. so its going to be good to get back to it. I am so happy you both gave meal ideas it helps alot . I exercise alot to love my exercise. i come to the boards alot to. i go to another one www.diettalk.com it helps me to. then i keep a diary of day. drink my water. been drinking lemon in it and drink more love the flavor.
Now for TUFFY hes doing so good. each day is more himself and so playful again. prayed alot. he sleeps alot now to. but we all do as we get older.ha ha he can be a brat to.ha he loves to go to bigger dogs to. thinks hes so big. they are sturdy alot. Does yours like to Kiss alot. we call it kissing.ha ha good for that. but we love it. yours is cute name to. know it fits her to.

YOU BOTH HAVE A GREAT DAY TO. I LOVE COMING TO THE BOARD AND SEEING HOW YOU HAVE DONE TO. IT HELPS ME SO VERY MUCH. I ALREADY HAD MY 4 MILE WALK THIS AM. GOT TO GO GET MY WATER AND HAVE BREAKFAST. SO LATER HAVE A GREAT DAY TO BOTH OF YOU. tuffy says hi his new friend lacee. ha LaDean

Good Morning all,

I had a successful night last night. They have complimentary cookies here at work all day everyday, and when the cookie tray gets low they promptly replenish it. So it's so hard to resist, so I had a few but other than that I've had a good day. I lost the 2# that I gained over the weekend from eating too much icecream.

LaDean- Prisim plan is very sound. I guess sugar is the enemy no matter how you look at it. I too fool myself into thinking that I can handle just a little sugar and then before I know it, i'm adding more and more sugar to my diet and then it gets out of hand. I know at my church they had a weightloss program w/ Bible study as well, but I never found out what the program was.

Aleka- What is Waist Watchers soda? Is it like Diet Rite where they make it w/ Splenda? I'm got onto the diet rite bandwagon doing Atkins but soon tired of it. So now i'm back to my diet gingerale and diet 7up. You diet sounds very good. It's making me see that I may not be eating enough. Maybe if I would have had more food, I wouldn't be looking for cookies all the time. So i'm going to increase my food intake. I'm glad you posted your food as well, it really showed me something. Isn't it nice to have bread w/ your deli meats again instead of lettuce? SSing is a good plan but it was driving me crazy and I felt like a failure evertime I cheated.

Hi, I'm not Somersizing I was just looking around. I used to be on WW now I'm doing the 6 week body makeover. Anyway, I noticed that you were from Brigdewater N.H. I lived on Brigdewater Mountain Road when I was a child. Just up from the Huckins Farm. When my parents we moved but I lived in Rumney until1992 when I married and moved to Wisconsin. Are you closer to Plymouth or Bristol? Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. It was so neat to see a town from "home". My email is cbjork1@chartermi.net if you'd like email me.

LaDean, the Prism plan seem like a good plan to follow and I'm glad it's working so well for you. What do you do for exercise? I usually walk. For the past week or so I've been having a problem with my back, so exercising is out for the time being. Last Fri., since it was such a nice day I went for a little walk and it made my back feel really good. Our weather has gone back to winter, so I can't walk. Lacee says "WOOF" to her new friend Tuffy. Tuffy is a really cute name for a Boston. Lacee certainly is a kisser! Especially when you're doing something else like watching TV or reading a book.:s: Does Tuffy beg at the table? Lacee has since we got her. The breeder who we got her from let her beg at the table since day 1, and we didn't have the heart to stop her. As I said before, she's spoiled!

Kathy, congratulations on your weight loss. :high: Occasionally a few cookies won't hurt. Waist Watcher soda is made with Splenda and is caffiene free. They have great flavors. Our favorite is Black Cherry and Vanilla Creme. They also have a Chocolate Fudge, but the grocery store we go to doesn't carry that flavor. Adirondack makes it. It really is enjoyable eating a sandwich again, plus a lot of other things that were funky on Ssizing. What used to drive me crazy was trying to find just the right food because you couldn't have this with that and so forth.

I'm glad that I was able to help you with my menu.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the day.

Nice to meet you too. I usually get home about once a year. We are planning trip in august this year. My sister is getting married. she lives in Canterbury. I didn't realize how beautiful NH is until I left. You don't notice things that are always there. Where I live in WI is very similar- small town area etc. but I really miss the mountains. The ski area around here are literally called ski hills!
I'd love to go to NH in the winter sometime so my son could snowboard on a real moimtain! Hope to "talk " again.

So glad you had a good day all of you. I had a great day yesterday was time to buckle down. I just cannot eat the sugar and be sensibly. so its off it again now. 2nd day here and going pretty good. Yes the prism worked for me but is alot like the sugar busters to. I walk every morning 7x week . and sometimes 2x day. in fall i line dance for 9 weeks 1 1/2 hours. i have a cardio glider, roll thing for abs. ex bike and step tapes I love. I love being out side so when weather gets better i will be riding bike some to. I just like to at times turn on the music and do my own movement and all. it helps alot. i sometimes go out on patio and do it. we have wood heat so have wood out there and neighbors cannot see. would not care if they did.ha ha
today i have eaten:
breakfast.....Oatmeal , glass of milk
Lunch....... toast, meatloaf, and a salad
dinner...... fruit
before hubby retired he worked nights and so our big meal was at lunch. so i am trying to get back to that. he just retired last summer. so takes time. but this week i am back to it. well hey this is getting rather long. ha GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK TO ALL. HANG IN THERE WE WILL REACH OUR GOALS. JUST HAVE TO HAVE SOME PATIENCE...... LaDean:) Oh!!!! ALEKA,,, tuffy loves to eat so hes now on a eating plan to.his food only none of our table scraps. Good Morning everyone!

Pg1988- WELCOME!

I have an idea, what do you guys think about us posting what we eat daily, I mean everything that goes into our mouths. I know i'd love it, it would be an extra way of keeping us all legal, being responsible to someone and knowing you had to post everything you ate at the end of the day is a good help.

I'll start yesteday I had (4/1)

Breakfast-2 eggs, lslice of 1pt cheese, 1/2c oatmeal, 1c 1% milk
Lunch-big salad, 4oz tuna, 1tsp of mayo, diet 7up, 1 balance bar
Snack- Darn it to heck.....4 oreo cookies. lol
Dinner- 4oz steak, salad, diet soda, 4 gramham crackers. As you can see i've got a sweet tooth from ****! lol

I exercise 6days a week, I will do a Firm video or a Cathe Friedrich video, ususally its Cathe, she's a little more advanced than the firm. I've been doing the firm for almost 10yrs now. Anyone else use them? www.cathe.com if you wanted to check her out, she's great! Tough, tough, tough and loveable.

LaDean, you really workout a lot! What is a cardio glider?

Aleka-Are you still using your machine that Tony Little sells, i'm sorry I forgot the name of it. Aleka, that soda sounds to die for, chocolate soda? Now you know I have to go check that out! lol

Kathy

aleka

That's a great idea to post everything we put in our mouths. Ok, here goes. 4/1
Breakfast: 1 cup bite sized shredded wheat...2 strawberries...1/2 c. blueberries...1 1/2 c. skim milk
Lunch: Grilled cheese sandwich made with 2 slices sourdough bread (once this is gone no more sourdough bread...too many points per slice)...2 1/2 slices low fat cheese...tomato..sprayed the pan and the bread with olive oil, 1 oz. baked potato chips
Dinner: Boca Burger on light roll with green beans
Snack: 1/2 c S/F jello with 2 T. lite Cool Whip

Kathy, yes I do still have Tony Little's Gazelle. I really like it. Right now though, I am having a back problem and can't exercise. I usually do Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds with 2 lb. weights. You really do a lot of weight training and that's wonderful. They say that is the key to losing weight.
I got this recipe at WW if you want something sweet. Take 2 chocolate graham cracker squares, put 2 T. of Cool Whip on one, then put the 2nd one ontop (like an ice cream sandwich), and freeze. They really are very good.

LaDean, you really do exercise, you're putting me to shame:o :s: You really are doing extremely well. Exercise is the least thing I like to do. I too like it better when I can get outside and walk rather than doing an exercise video. Was it hard getting used to having your husband around all the time after he retired? My DH & I work together out of our house. He's around all the time so when the time comes for us to retire, it won't feel any different. Where Tuffy is 10 he probably isn't as active as he once was. When our other Boston got older we had to buy special dog food from the Vet because she was prone to intestinal problems. Lacee eats and exercises at the same time. She plays hockey with her dog food and pieces always end up either under the couch, loveseat, or hutch. We're usually crawling on the floor with a flashlight and ruler trying to get them out. KIDS!!!

pg1988, did you ever attend any of the Old Home Day celebrations? We went to a few and had some of the wonderful Bean-Hole beans! OMG, they are to die for. I think that's why a lot of people go. Hope to hear from you again.

Take care and have a good day.

I would also like to post our daily food intake i think it would help me to report it .
Yes i love exercise and try to do more each day. but lately have not been doing that much. i posted alot of hours manily to see it and that way get it done.ha a cardio glider has a seat and then peddles and you sit and peddle and the bar goes back and forth. all my wt is in my upper section from waist up. so it helps me alot. its on my patio so i forget sometimes to get out there and do it. had it in the family room and ex bike to. then got to much in there. so summer i like it outdoors is cooler so its stayed out there this time.ha but i have to do different at times does not get boreing. I walk daily though my main exercise.

Breakfast: 1/2 toasted cheese sandwitch, 1/2 cup fruit coctail no juice. 1 c milk.

Lunch: 1 slice bread, 1tsp peanut butter, 1 banana, 1/2 slice meat loaf (what a commination ha)
Snack: 3 fig newtons

Yesterday was just not a very good eating day for me at all.
4/2 :

Breakfast~~1 c. bite sized shredded wheat cereal, 1 c. strawberries, 1/2 c. blueberries, 1 1/2 c skim milk, and coffee, black, no sugar.

Snack~~I was STARVED!!! 3 or 4 handfuls of Almonds.

Lunch~~1 c chicken soup, 1 oz pretzels, and Waist Watcher soda

Supper~~1-4 oz. hamburger w/regular cheese, 2 oz. baked potato chips, and 2 light beers.

Snack~~1/2 c S/F-F/F pudding w/ 2 T. lite Cool Whip and 1 sm. S/F chocolate candy.

I have to admit, I really thought I wanted the beers, but as it turned out I didn't enjoy them at all. :p I vow today will be better.

Did either of you see Oprah yesterday? It was a repeat with her trainer, Bob Greene, and one episode I hadn't seen. He was saying that a good portion of overweight people are emotional eaters. I do fall into that category. Both of them said that dieting will fail unless you find the reason why you are overeating. It was very informative and gave me a lot to think about.

La Dean, that's great you are doing different exercises. They say that's the best thing to do because it works different parts of your body and you don't get bored.

Kathy, hope things are going well with you.

pg1988, how is the BFL coming along?

Hi everyone,

I did ok yesterday, my eating is still not where I want it to be but at least i'm not binging on things now.

Menu for Wednesday 4/2/03
Breakfast- 1/2c oatmeal, 3 egg whites, 1c 1% milk, tea
Lunch- big salad, 4oz tuna, **8 cookies** diet soda
Snack- balance bar
Dinner- 4oz steak, big salad, graham crackers, coolwhip, 1tbsp hershy syrup.

Aleka- I make those graham crackers sandwiches but sometimes I put strawberries in a bowl w/ the cool whip and the graham cracker and some low-fat choco syrup and it just taste delicious! It delivers me from my ice cream carving. You didn't do bad yesterday? What's this about beer? I didn't see it listed as one of the things you drank?

LaDean-What did you eat for dinner? I'm a peanut butter fanatic, one time last week I wanted a peanut butter sandwich so badly and didn't have any bread so I made in on a tortilla. lol It wasn't half bad.

LaDean, I am glad too that you asked if that was my Boston in the photo. This is a great site where you can discuss anything and everything, not like some diet sites I've been into. Do you grow vegetables or flowers in your gardens, or both? I have the tendency to kill any flower or plan that I touch. But, I have had great luck with daylilies. I have quite a lot and am surprised every year when they pop through the ground every year. Each year we buy different varities, and a friend of mine got me interested in them and we sometimes swap plants back and forth. Between the both of us we have quite a collection. Unfortunatly, when we let Lacee run in the front yard she runs right through the flower bed:devil:

Kathy, I will try your recipe for the graham cracker sandwiches. They sound YUMMY!!! The beer is there under what I ate, and it just didn't taste very good to me.

Both of you are doing so well...:bravo:

Hope you guys have a great weekend. :balloons:

LaDean, congratulations on your weight loss!:bravo: :high: That's great news. What does KOPS mean in TOPS? You have quite a lot of flowers in your garden. It must be lovely when they are all in bloom. Lacee says "WOOF".

Kathy, I saw your post on the thread about the Miracle 3 Day Diet. The diet is in this week's (April 8), issue of Woman's World Magazine. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll PM you.

My girlfriend faxed me over a diet she has been doing and has lost 10 lb. so far. It's a low-carb grapefruit type diet, where you either eat 1/2 grapefruit or drink 1/2 c. grapefruit juice with each meal. You do the diet for 12 days and take 2 days off. I've started it today, even though I don't have any grapefruit or grapefruit juice in the house, and because of the foul weather won't be able to get to the store until tomorrow.

Menu for 4/4

Breakfast: 1 1/4 c. shredded wheat 'n' bran, 1 c. strawberries, 1 c. strawberries, coffee..black..no sugar

Lunch: P'nut butter & jelly sandwich on sourdough bread, 1 oz. baked potato chips, Waist Watcher diet soda

Dinner: 1 portion frozen lasagna, 6 oz. glass of wine

Snack: 2 sm. pieces sugar free chocolate, decaf coffee..black..no sugar.

Have a great day!

THANKS SO MUCH. It just made my whole day to have that loss. its been awhile. Yes when flowers are in bloom they are pretty. i still have alot of bulbs to set out. have to wait till no fear of a frost. although i do have some in the ground now.
Now your in ww right? i am doing the pts with my eating to. do you go to the meetings? i just have the book and do it on my own. I am going to start watching carbs more to. well good luck this day and have a good one. i am really being good no sugar now again this is 4th day. yehhh.

I hope everyone has a good weekend . and lets all look for a loss this week. LaDean:)

Aleka, let me know if the grapefriut diet is working for you, I may try it.

I'm happy you guys are doing so well. I have been off plan since Fri, I haven't gained any weight but I'm wayyyy off plan. It's so bad it doesn't even make sense to post what I ate because it's just so outrageous. I'll get my butt back to my routine tomorrow.

Have a great night.

LaDean, we usually can have frost until the end of May. That's when our planting season starts. I think they plant peas at that time and seems like a big deal when it happens because that's what everybody talks about. The way our weather has been so far we may have frost until July! I used to go to the WW meetings, but lately they have been doing nothing for me, so I've stopped going. Also, I just can't count another point!:headache: I am glad that WW is working for you. Keep up the good work.

Kathy, I've been on the diet 1 day so far and it's not bad at all. I went out and bought some grapefruit juice this morning so that I can start drinking it with my meals. If you'd like a copy of the diet, let me know and I'll PM you. My girlfriend said it's a lot like Atkins. It is somewhat limited in what you can eat, so I don't know how long I'll be able to stick with it. I need more variety. But, in the meantime I don't mind doing it.

Take care and enjoy your Sunday

Hi,

I'm doing much better today. I did the "Hollywood diet" drink started today and will end on Tuesday morning. I was just feeling bloated and wanted to get the water off quickly. Hope I last.

Aleka, yes i'd like to know the details of the diet, i'm glad that you survived 1 day on it so far. How long did you friend spend on it before she lost the 10#?

LaDean, did you make it throug the weekend sugar free?

LaDean, how was your weekend? Mine was ok eatingwise. We got about 10" of snow from Friday afternoon into Sat. morning. It just seems like winter does not want to leave. Congratulations on staying away from sugar. How did your exercising go over the weekend?

Kathy, how is the Hollywood diet coming along? I don't know how long it took my friend to lose 10 lb. I haven't seen her to have our "girl-talk" since before I went on vacation. We were to have lunch last Fri., but the weather got in the way. Hopefully we'll be able to touch base this Fri. I'm doing ok on the diet, I am hungry between meals, but unfortunatly you can't eat between meals. I don't see myself doing this for the long run, but it is a good jump start (hopefully) for weight loss. I'll know in a few more days. I sent you a PM with the instructions re: the diet.

Menu for the weekend:
4/5:
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 3 slices bacon, black coffee, no sugar.
Lunch: Huge salad w/ slices of steak & some hamburgh, regular salad dressing, diet Waist Watcher soda
Dinner: steak, broccoli w/butter, wax beans, iced tea
Snack: S/F jello, decaf coffee, black, no sugar

4/6:
Breakfast: 2 egg omelette, 3 slices bacon, black coffee, no sugar.
Lunch: 1/2 c. grapefruit juice, huge salad w/ hamburgh & pepperoni slices, regular salad dressing, Waist Watcher soda

I was curious last night to see if this diet was working, as I was getting very discouraged because I've been so hungry on it. I hopped on the scale and I was down 2lb. since Sat. That gave me incentive to keep trying for a little while longer.

Rapunzel, welcome to our little corner of the board. I have sent you a PM with Suzanne's diet. Is that the diet you wanted? If not, let me know.

LaDean, how are you doing so far this week? How is Tuffy?

Kathy, did you get a lot of snow out of this storm? We only saw flurries early this morning. I'm really sick of this winter. How is the Hollywood diet coming along?

Have a great day everybody.

Hi,

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Aleka- thanks for the instructions. Today is my first meal in 2 days and I am ravenous! lol I'm havinng my egg whites and oatmeal like a good girl. Congrats on your weightloss! I'm so eager to see if you loose the 10# in 10days, is today day4? I hope this works, at least 7-10#, heck i'll take anything! lol You ate very well this weekend!

For some reason weekends mean pickout time. I don't know but something goes off in my brain Fri evening to Sunday night that it's time to pig out. I'm working hard to correct this. Anyone else have this problem?

I did the hollywood diet for the past 2 days and lost 4#, which I going to work very had towards to keep off. I really didn't like doing the diet but I was very bloated and just wanted to feel tight for a change.

LaDean- How'd you do over the weekend? Are you still sugar free, or slightly sugar free?

Congratulations on your weight loss! :bravo: :cp: It really makes you feel great seeing the scale go down.

I am exactly like you described yourself from Fri. to Sun. I am really trying my darndest to get rid of that habit. That's one of the reasons I started this diet on a Sat. If I do last the 12 days on this diet, I planned it so that my 2 days off the diet landed on Fri. & Sat. :s:

Hows lacee fine i Hope. WOOF WOOF tuffy says to her. I am doing ok this week. had little sugar but i want to get with it sensibly. so doing good. i figure we need all of it for our eating plan to stick to it. cause when i went off i gained back. so trying to just have some now and then. i been walking this week every morning i walk,

LaDean, how very lucky for you to have been able to sit out in the sun this past weekend. We had snow and freezing rain just about the whole weekend, with the sun coming out on Sun. But, it was so cold and windy that you just wanted to hunker down with the heat on. Glad that Tuffy is doing well. Lacee says "WOOF" right back at him! That's great you're sticking to your eating plan and like seeing the numbers on the scale. Have a good weigh in at TOPS on Fri. Don't worry about forgetting names and such, we all have those moments. You are doing great with your menu.

Kathy, I found the diet I'm doing on the internet, and the instructions are word for word. The only difference is on the internet version you can have as much cheese as you want too, except for cottage cheese. YIPEE!!! That's the only thing I was missing. How did it go yesterday eating your first "real" food?

4/8 menu:
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, black coffee, no sugar
Lunch: huge salad with hamburgh, pepperoni, and regular salad dressing, Waist Watcher soda
Dinner: pizza and 1 glass of wine OOPS!:o

All I can say is, I really wanted that pizza! Back OP today.

Lunch-salad, 1tbsp dressing, 4oz tuna, 1 balance bar, diet soda
Snack- 1 balance bar

Aleka- If your anything like me when it comes to the weekends, I think it was a very smart idea to start your diet on a weekend so there was no chance of you cheating. Have you weighed yourself since? I'm so curious, cause if this works for you GF, i'm on board!lol And....I hope that pizza tasted really good? lol

LaDean- Congrats on being healthy all around, re: your blood pressure, etc. Glad to see i'm not the only one who does the Hollywood diet from time to time. Although i've never lost 10# in 2-day though.lol Most i've lost is 4#, what about you?

THE WEATHER SUCKS IN NYC! It's just raining and gloomy, but secretely i'm happy because that gives me more time to get the weight off before the sun starts shining all of of Manhattan gets half naked. lol

Breakfast- 1/2c oatmeal, 3egg whites, 1c 1% milk for oatmeal
Lunch-salad, 1tbsp dressing, 4oz tuna, 1 balance bar, diet soda
Snack- 1 balance bar, P&J sandwich
Dinner- Chinese food-chicken&broccoli, white rice, crab sticks

Aleka- I started the grapefruit diet today. It's so hard finding unsweetened grapefruit juice. You mentioned something about cheese? Do you have any other details of what is allowed? Am I allowed to have cheese?

LaDean-You said you did the grapefruit diet before, what exactly did you eat, how long were you on it and what did you loose?

Kathy

aleka
04-10-2003, 10:37 AM
LaDean, walking 4 miles is really fantastic! How long does it take you to do the 4 miles? There are different versions of the grapefruit diet. Which one did you do and did you gain all the weight back once you stopped? It's nice to do different plans, then you don't get bored. Bacon is kind of expensive here too, actually everything is expensive here;)

Kathy, if you go to www.************.com scroll down until you see Grapefruit Diet aka The New Mayo Clinic Diet, click onto that and a page will pop up about it. If you click onto the Mayo Clinic pro review, the whole diet is there and you can print it out. I copied and pasted it and sent it to myself. The diet I PM'd you said nothing about cheese, but the one at ************ said you could have as much cheese as you want. So far I have lost about 3 1/2 lb. I honestly don't know how long I will continue with it. I just wanted to get a jump start on my weight loss. This is not a diet you could do for long term. I have about 15 more lb. to go before I'm to where I want to be. I may do this until I lose the 15, or after the first 12 days, I'm not sure. I'm either going back to counting points, or Somersizing when I'm through with this WOE, I can't seem to make up my mind. :?: Each plan has it's good points and bad points. Good luck with it, and let us know how you're doing.

Menu 4/9:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, 3 slices bacon, black coffee, no sugar
Lunch: homemade vegetable soup ,Waist Watcher diet soda
Snack: (I was starving) sm. handful soy nuts & water
Dinner: fried chicken breasts, broccoli/cauliflower mix, tomatoes, slices cucumbers & bell peppers in Balsamic vinegar, Waist
Watcher Diet Soda
Snack. S/F jello, decaf coffee, black no sugar

Have a good day.

Aleka, thanks so much for the info! Today is day 6 for you? Keep going, I think it's worth it. If this diet gives you results you could just loose the 15# on it and be done w/ it! If this works for me, i'm going to stick out for as long as I can. Thanks so much for posting this. Are you skipping the grapefruit juice? Congrats on your weightloss btw! WTG! When you loose the 15# will you be at goal weight? I have about 44# to go to be done w/ it all.

Kathy,
The first day I started this diet I did not drink any grapefruit juice, because I didn't have any in the house, and we were having a very nasty day outside. I did get some for the second day and I've been drinking it when I think of it. I have been using Ocean Spray White Grapefruit juice. The label says "no added sugar". My GF told me not to use the Ruby-Red Grapefruit juice. Yes, this is day 6 for me. Are you hungry at all between meals? About 2 hrs. after I eat I start getting hungry, and by the time my next meal is due, I'm ravenous. My meals just don't stay with me. I am hoping this is temporary and my stomach will get used to it. No matter what, I am sticking to this for awhile. Good luck to you!If our weather holds out tomorrow, no ice or snow, my GF who faxed me the diet & I will be having lunch and I'll find out how long it took her to lose 10 lb. and I'll let you know.

Hi LaDean, hope your day is going well.

Thanks for answering my questions Aleka! I get hungry about every 3hrs, but once I eat i'm ok. Just think of yourself as a fat burning machine!lol And yes, pls let me know what your friend say. I think this diet could bring us sucess, and then we just go back to WW or whatever when we are done loosing the weight. I'm tired of trying to loose weight, I just want to be done w/ it already. I remember when i was doing Atkins the first week I lost 7#, then after that it was 3# a week. This diet is similar.

Aleka and Kit, it has been sometime since i was on it. was a faze then and lots were on it. when it came out so been awhile. anyhows i did good i remember. but like them all went off it and yes i imagine it was gained back. cause i did not do what i do now. that is get on a good plan and all. so just keep gaining. but i have tryed so many plus the pills and herbs and you name it i think i have done it all. so at that age now where its find that life time plan and i have that . but got on the sugar again so fighting that again. i just need something to give me a push and start again. thanks for that site i put it on favorites and will check it out. i love reading the different ones out there.
Aleka. your doing great on it. geee just that to lose just go for it if it gets to making you not so hungry. or get on your sommers or ww now that would be good and you would fill fuller and not gain it back. so what ever is best for you. I am now counting calories and carbs. and watching my portions. trying to stay off that darn sugar.ha not doing to bad. my friend and i are taking a jar and sitting it out. when we have something bad to eat we put a quarter in our jar. so far got a dollar in there.ha ha but weighin tomorrow morning so today is a good extra good watch it day.ha ha scales are down this am and i want to keep them that way.
BREAKFAST....... 2 toast & milk
LUNCH........ 1/2 Sausage and toast
Do you still have snow? does lacee like it. tuffy loves it i throw snow balls and he chases them. use to anyhows. we have not had any in awhile and thankful for that.ha is raining today but i had my 4 mile walk. it takes me about a hour to walk it. i do it daily. i need to add more exercise and hopefully this next week that will be done..... Hey you 2 are doing so good. that is great. i am glad i came into the site again. WOOF WOOF TUFFY SAYS TO LACEE. HA HAVE A GREAT DAY LaDean:) oh the grapefruit diet that i was on was about the same as one your on.

Kitkat3NY

LaDean- LOL re: the quarter in the jar, well dollar now. I know it's so hard to stay off sugar, and w/ this new diet i'm doing i've got 12days straight of no extras it's going to be hard but worth it.

It's true what you said that lost of people go on the quick fix diets but when they are done they go back to their bad habits. It's so good we are an educated crowd and can eat healthy 98% of the time so quick fixes won't turn into a nightmare for us.

I don't have any snow in NYC, good riddens to it! lol I'm so tired of snow.

What your doing is one of the best ways to do it, counting carbs. Carbs/sugar I believe is the root of most of out weight problems.

KIT, yes the first time i went off the sugar last july i started and was losing all those weeks in row no gains. then came Oct and i started thinking i could eat it sensibly. but found out took me long enough with gaining back the wt that i am not ready to be sensibly with it. lol so now it seems to be harder to get back on the wagon.lol then the first time around. but hey i am doing good so can not complain. at least like you said we are smart enough to not get off our plans completly. Now your on the Hollywood diet Kit? i have not checked into it may have to.

LaDean, I got a big kick out of the "dollar" in the jar. You and your friend have a great idea! Hopefully it will take a long time for the jar to be filled. On that site, all the diets are listed on the left hand side of the page. I like looking at different eating plans too. I can't believe how many diets are out there! It's fun knowing you and Tuffy too. I am so happy that you asked about Lacee. Who says "WOOF", by the way. Are you thinking of doing the Hollywood Diet? How did your weigh in go at TOPS? Watching portions, counting calories and carbs sounds like a good sound plan. You are doing a great job, especially walking 4 miles!

Kathy, how did your first day go on this plan? I felt I had reached a milestone when I wasn't hungry between lunch and dinner! Hopefully now my stomach is used to this WOE, if so, I know I can keep going. Hope your first day went ok.

Menu 4/10
Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, 3 strips of bacon, 1/2 c. grapefruit juice, black coffee, no sugar
Lunch: Salad with hamburgh & pepperoni, regular salad dressing Waist Watcher diet soda, 1/2 c. grapefruit juice
Dinner: Steak, zucchini & summer squash "noodles" w/pasta sauce and a little bit of shredded asiago cheese, Waist Watcher diet soda, 1/2 c. grapefruit juice
Snack: S/F jello, decaf coffee, black..no sugar.

Have a good day.

Bye for now,

Good morning,

I hate to admit it but I had a set back yesterday. I got to feeling down about my weight and the next think you know i'm deep in a carton of icecream. I'm much better today.

LaDean- The "Hollywood diet" is a juice you drink for 2-days and don't eat. I don't think i'll be doing that diet again. I should've known better but I was desperate at the time. Right now i'm doing the samething as Aleka. The diet has a labe called the "grapefruit diet" but it's pretty much a sensible, low-carb diet. I'm sorry you gained your weight back, but at least you know what your mistake was and won't make it again. How much more do you have to loose what you gained back?

Aleak- Today will be my official day of the diet. I'm glad you doing much better and not feeling has hungry. Let me know when you loose your first 5#. Didn't you have something extra to eat recently, like a few day ago? and you still lost weight, that gives me great inspiration. Thanks for recommending the Ocean Spray juice, it says no sugar added but then it says 21gms per 8oz? I guess grapefruit has sugar of it's on?

Menu 4/10

Breakfast-2eggs 2slice bacon, tea, 1/2c grapefruit juice.
Lunch-Mcdonalds chicken mcnuggets (don't ask) salad
Dinner-ice cream, P&J sandwich

As of this morning I'm down another 1/2 lb., making it 4 lb. Yes, I had pizza and wine the other night. To tell you the truth...it was worth having it even though it may have stalled me a little. Don't worry too much about the ice cream. It's great comfort food.:T Good luck with the diet today.

This has nothing to do with the diet. When I used to go to NYC to see my late aunt, when she was ill, around the early 90's, there was this bakery called Carrot Top on Broadway near W 168th St. They had Carrot Muffins to die for. Before I left for home I always brought 1 1/2 doz. back with me, and freeze them. Do you know if they are still there? I believe there was another one more towards the GW Bridge. I think about that place very often. The Carrot Top near W 168th was just a few doors down from my aunt's building. There is/was a Wendy's on the corner.

Hi again LaDean

Kathy, thank you for calling them, that was awfully nice of you, but you didn't have to do that. I got a kick out of you calling them. I am glad they are still there. DH & I often talk about those muffins. I would eat there every single morning while I was visiting her. I saw my GF at lunch...yes, we did have our grapefruit juice:D It took her about 2 weeks to lose 10 lbs., but she wasn't faithfully following it, she was cheating a lot. She is now stalled, but I think her body is taking a little breather, 10 lbs. is a lot to lose in 2 weeks. How have you done so far today?

Hi LaDean!

Take care.

That's great that you have stayed the same and haven't gained. :bravo: That is just as important as losing. You will start losing again. Good luck with the diet. I haven't weighed myself for a couple of days because I had a cheat Fri. night, so I'll wait a few more days.
Yesterday we had a beautiful day, in the mid 60's, so Lacee & I went for a little walk. She's horrible on a leash, but better than she had been. I think by the time we got home, the arm I was holding the leash in was about 6" longer than the other arm. Because of my back I'm easing into the walking. What is wrong with your foot? It's a good thing to give your sore foot a rest.

Hi, Kathy  How did you do over the weekend?

Hope you both are having a great weekend.

Yes i love staying the same to. I am trying for a loss this week. I have psorasis on my feet and it comes and goes. so got a spot on the top and is sore. has been worse could not even walk so i can handle this.ha its better now and i been walking. jsut never this am as church . just took Tuffy out hes never been trained for a leash so just walk him around here on our 2 lots and all. then we just got in and its Hailing out there now pretty good one. so glad hes got his job done. as he hates to go out in the rain and all. just a april day today. lazy one. so that is what i am being.ha

Woof from tuffy. your little lacee sounds so sweet. they are good dogs for sure. tuffy is cute to watch but not funny but sometimes it is. he gets off balance now alot. he likes to play around in grass and all. well when he does his little leg just goes out on him and he will sit flat on his butttt or fall over and sometimes i have to help him out. but right after stroke i had to carry him out he could not even walk. so thankful for prayers answered and we still have him. well have a good day. LaDean, did you get a lot of hail? We don't have much of that where I live. I have a friend who has psoriasis very badly, and it was starting to develop in her ears. She bought some sort of ointment, I forget the name, that literally cleared it up. The only telltale signs that she ever had psoriasis are pink spots on her knees and elbows. Poor Tuffy falling over like that. At least Bostons are small enough dogs that you are able to pick them up and carry them around if you have to. Hope you had a good weekdnd.

Kathy, how did the diet go over the weekend? Last night for dinner I made the pizza out of Suzanne's Fast & Easy book. I really like that pizza.

Since all of us aren't really Somersizing, and this thread is getting long, I was wondering if you would like to start another thread with a new name? What do you both think, and what should we call it?

Have a great Monday guys!

Good Morning,

I had a great weekend. I had a slice of pizza yesterday but other than that I 've been doing great on the diet. Today is day 4! I've already lost 2# maybe more but it's going to be TTOTM so I won't know for a while.

Aleka- you did good as well, since we know we tend to eat junk more on the weekend. I've never tried Suzannes pizza, does it get crunchy? I was thinking about the name as well. I think we should start a new thread w/ a new name. Hmm, any suggestions? Wow, your friend lost 10# in 2wks? I'm really going to stick this out! After I complete the 12days, i'm going to rest for 2days like they suggest and then i'm going right back on it, what about you?

LaDean- This may be a dumb question but what's a "marj glass of milk"? I'm doing the grapefruit diet w/ Aleka, today is day 4 for me. Staying the same in weight is way better than gaining, i'll take staying the same over that any day!

Menu 4/11 Fri
B-2eggs, bacon, 1/2c grapefruit juice
L-3oz steak, salad/dressing, diet soda
D-crab stick and chicken wings

Menu-4/12 Sat

ALEKA, The new name sounds like a good idea. does not matter. but beings no one is on her plan. some may not be coming in cause of that. so anything is ok with me. Yes we wanted a small dog. hubby had always liked these kind of dogs. smart and good he said. so happy we got tuffy. hes doing so much better and so playful again like before. glad lacee is ok to. now was she a baby when you got her. I have always wanted to see a very little one. ha but they are hard to find around here. Yes we get Hail alot. or i should say we get it. its not real big hail though like they get in the south. but covers the ground some like snow. had some thunder with this. well hey your doing good on this plan. how much lost now/?? is it near your week on it???? are you going for it again/???? i had my bacon but with bread.ha ha

Well...I paid for those cheats I had, I got on the scale this morning and I was UP 1 lb. My GF told me that if you do cheat, it takes a few days to start losing again. Oh, well.

My first 12 days are up Thursday, and I don't know if I'll be going back doing this. Eggs every morning are starting to get to me :p I will know better after having the 2 free days. I absolutely love the food. I don't know if having cereal, fruit, and milk would do a lot of harm on this WOE if I have them 2 or 3 days a week, sort of like Somersizing.

LaDean, sometimes I forget the grapefruit juice and think of it after my meal. That's great you've stayed away from sugar for 2 days now!:high: Keep it up. Your bacon, tomato sandwich you had for breakfast sounds really delicious. I add low fat cheese to that and fry it in Olive Oil flavored PAM until the cheese melts.:T Let us know which eating plan you decide to do. Glad that Tuffy is doing well and is still playful. Lacee was a about 10 weeks old when we picked her up. She was sooo tiny that she fit inside my jacket and I was able to overlap the sides to keep her warm. It was in the middle of winter when we picked her up. When I put her inside my jacket she was so content that she instantly fell asleep. She stayed like that on the ride home.

Kathy, that's wonderful you're doing so great on the diet. Are you ever hungry? It took me until Fri. to stop being hungry between meals. Now, except for the eggs every morning, I feel like I could do this diet forever, but adding a bit more carbs. The crust on Suzanne's pizza is made with cream cheese, eggs, and grated Parm. cheese. It gets solid so that you can add the toppings. Eating it is more like eating lasagna without the noodles. I really like it.

Do either of you have any ideas what we should call our thread? I'm really not very good at this, but I thought of Doing our own thing, or Doing it our way. I'm not sure if either of those are already taken. I hope you guys can think of something.

Menu 4/14:
B: 1/2 c. grapefruit juice, 2 eggs, 3 slices bacon, black coffee, no sugar
L: 1/2 c. grapefruit juice, salad w/pepperoni and 2 T. salad dressing
D: hamburgh patty w/tomatoe & melted cheese, green beans, cauliflower & broccoli mix, Waist Watcher diet soda (forgot the grapefruit juice)
Snack: S/F jello

Have a great day.

Hi gals,

Well, i'm still doing well w/ the diet. I got back down to 174#, remember when i did that 2-day liquid diet 2weekends ago? Well, after the 2days were up I had chinese food the next night and gained all the weight back, so i'm back to 174#. Today is day 5 for me and i've lost 3# in all. I don't expect to loose 10# in 2weeks this diet keeps me honest. When my time is up, i'll be repeating it.

LaDean- Congrats on being sugar free! Wow, you weren't lying, really love bacon!lol Don't really stress the grapefruit juice, I forget it most of the time, I usually remember to have 2 servings of it a day.

Aleka- It's TTOTM for me so all i'm craving is chocolate, I have one balance bar in between meals. I just have to have something chocolate. I have the carmel nut blast and it taste like a snicker bar. Don't worry about that one pound, i'm sure it will be gone soon. Hmm, well, if you just can't have the eggs everyday for breakfast then have the 1c of cereal pay close attention to serving size and then continue w/ the form of the diet for the remainder of the day.
For a name how about "Diet Talk"? or something along those lines? I think there are a few thread called doing our own things, etc. LaDean any suggestions?

4/12 Menu
Breakfast-1/2c grapefruit juice, 2eggs, 3slice bacon
Lunch-1/2c grapefruit, salad, dressing, chicken, diet soda
Snack-balance bar
Dinner-salad, dressing, diet soda, steak, few graham cracker.

I lost the lb. I had gained, plus a nother 1/2 lb. I've got 1/2 lb. more to go before I've lost all of my vacation weight!!! The one thing I've noticed is I've lost in my stomach area, where I really need to lose it.

LaDean, how did you do yesterday?

Kathy, glad you like the diet. Congratulations on your weight loss! :cp: :cb: I hope you won't be too discouraged if you don't lose 10 lb. in 2 weeks, because that's a lot of weight to lose in 2 weeks. IMHO, when you crave something you just gotta have it!
Do any of your supermarkets carry Hoods products? They have sugar free fudgsicles that are really good. Whenever I have a chocolate craving I grab one of those. The serving size is 2 for 90 cal. (45 cal. each). That's funny, you mentioned occasionally having cereal and continuing with the diet the rest of the day, because those were my thoughts exactly! This morning will be a cereal morning. I really do want to be careful because since the weight came off quickly, I know I'll gain it just as fast, if not faster.

4/15
B: 2 eggs, 3 slices bacon, 1/2 c. grapefruit juice, black coffee, no sugar.
L: Salad w/hamburger, pepperoni, cheese, 2 T regular salad dressing Waist Watcher diet soda
D: chicken, broccoli w/ regular salad dressing, wax beans, Waist Watcher diet soda
Snack: S/F jello and S/F fudgsicle

Take care and have a good day.

Hi,

Aleka, I'm so glad that pound+ came off, congrats girl! Yeah, you might as well have your cereal in the morning and count that as your only starch for the day. I just want to get out of the 170's so badly! Congrats again on just about loosing your pre-vaction weight. So how much weightloss does that make for you since you started the diet?

LaDean- How is everything going?

4/15 Menu
B-1/2c grapefruit juice, 2eggs, 3slice bacon
L-1/2c grapefruit jucie, salad,dressing, chicken

Hi ladies,

LaDean, I hate when i'm writing a long message and I loose it, when I try to do it the second time it's never the same! lol Yup, i'm still doing the grapefruit diet but I decided to cut out the grapefruit juice. Today, I decided to try to be 100% sugar free, I notice I loose better when i'm sugarfree. It's weird how a few grams of sugar can hold you back. What kind of plan interest you?

Aleka-How's it going? I'm doing ok. I'm cutting out the grapefruit juice out of the diet so i'm basically going to be doing a type of Atkins diet. I think that will work best for me. I haven't lost anymore. I'm always stuck at this weight and can't loose beyond this so im cleaning up my diet and i'll see how it goes.

Menu for 4/16 Wed.
Breakfast-1/2c grapefruit juice, 2eggs, 3slice bacon
Lunch-1/2c grapefruit juice, chicken, salad, dressing, diet soda
Snack-balance bar
Dinner-crab sticks, salad, diet soda, lots and lots of graham crackers w/ cool whip and hershey syrup, I don't know what got into me!

LaDean, sorry about you losing your long message. Don't you hate when that happens? What are you fixing for Easter Dinner? DH & I are planning on going out for dinner. There is just the 2 of us, and Lacee of course, our families are scattered about. I will be bringing some of my dinner home for Lacee. She says "WOOF" back. Have you got any plan in mind you'd like to do? I am modifying the grapefruit diet a bit by occasionally adding more carbs.

Kathy, I sort of stopped with the grapefruit juice too. I hardly ever think to drink it, and I don't think it does anything to help your metabolism. That's good you figured out what would work best for you. I think this will work out better for me if I add a few carb meals a week.

Did you both hear that Dr. Atkins died today? I knew he was in a coma and that the Drs. didn't hold out much hope. I was awfully sad to hear this.

4/16
B: shredded wheat 'n' bran cereal, blueberries, skim milk, coffee, black no sugar
L: salad w/hamburgh, pepperoni, cheese, and regular salad dressing. diet soda
D: 2 pcs pizza (don't ask.... ) diet soda
Snack: canned & fresh fruit mixed with yogurt & cool whip, black decaf coffee..no sugar.

I saw the South Beach Diet a few weeks ago when I went into Prevention. So, I ordered the book. I've read it and it looks like something I could possibly do. They gave a menu for each day, but it didn't say whether or not you could mix and match the foods. I just can't stand the taste of fish. I don't mind lobster, shrimp, and fried clams. If I can swap the fish for chicken, I'd do it.

Do you have any idea for a new name for our little group? I liked Kathy's name, Diet Talk. Maybe on Monday we can start our new thread.

Take care.

Hey there,

LaDean, a person after my own heart...you don't like fish either! There is a South Beach diet topic on the low-carb thread. I posted there last night asking if I had to eat the foods in the daily menu planner, or could I substitute the foods that I would prefer. Someone already replied and said they didn't see why not. I would switch chicken for fish. I dug the book out last night and will read it and I just may join you on Monday! I like the fact that you can start adding carbs back into your diet after 2 weeks. I added the link you posted into my favorites.

Kathy, how are things going with you? Are you still not drinking your grapefruit juice? Since I stopped the grapefruit juice I feel a little freer now that there is one less thing I have to remember to do. Did you check out the South Beach Diet?

Would you guys like to start our Diet Talk topic on Monday since it's the start of a new week? If so, whoever is the first one to post Mon. can start the topic.

I hope you both have a wonderful Easter.

I would not see why you could not eat chicken. i am going to. I fix fish cakes with canned salmon and tuna fish sandwitches. only kind of fish i can eat. not to much of it. cause the cakes have the crackers in it and all. Yes Monday i am going for it. Thanks for doing it to. have not copied it off yet i will do that today.
KIT,,,,, are you going for it to or sticking to the grapefruit??? what ever you can still post your doing it to. I love that name as we are using what we want for plans and changing to. I know before on the atkins was hard for me i like my fruit and vegies.... so i think this will be better. yes that is the board i found it on. Ok yes post our name Monday neat...... I have sunk to an all time low ladies. I have lost 3# in the past month and keep regaining it and loosing it over and over and over and over again. No more quick fixes for me. I knew and relearned that I need a balanced diet, i'm not going to be cutting carbs completely out of my diet.

Aleka- I've stopped the grapefruit diet entirely. I feel much freer as well. I'm just going to stick to have no more than 2starches a day, and keep my portions small. I've given up on trying to loose this and that amount in a quick time because i whind up back where I started from and everytime I fail I feel more and more like a failure. This is so hard!

LaDean- You are having a feast for Easter! Your cooking the whole meal?

I may hang out w/ my family on Sunday, we usually have a family day anyway, so it's more of the same, i'll just get dressed up for it. lol

Oh, I love fish and hate chicken, even though i'm always eating it for lack of anything else.

Aleka, LaDean, i'll be checking in all weekend. You know when you don't hear from me often i'm doing something really bad!lol So i'll check in more to keep me honest.

LaDean, I went to the link you had about the S.B.D., what are the specifics? Like I read you are basically on induction for 2wks, but what happens after that. They say you can eat fruit, but what exactly is the menu. It sounds interesting, I could use it as a guideline. Good luck w/ your Easter dinner, sounds like your going to have your hands full!

Aleka- Happy Easter!

Not going to bothe posting my menu because it's full of rice, icecream, cake, I can eat this and not gain weight, I can diet like on Atkins and not loose weight. I just feel like giving up, but I can't except this extra weight!

LaDean, that's fantastic that you've been off sugar 8 days, and haven't gained any weight! :bravo: :high: Isn't it great that you can be around sugar and not want any? That's a good idea not calling the SBD a diet. I think that's the key. It sounds like you have a very nice Easter planned with your family. I hope you all have a very wonderful Easter. Lacee sends her Easter wishes to Tuffy. Lacee will be getting her "cookies" for her Easter basket.

Kathy, I think I'll use the SBD as a guideline also. The first 2 weeks are very restrictive, but after that it you incorporate more carbs. It sounds something like Atkins. I've decided not to do the grapefruit diet either. I did lose weight, but I haven't been that strict lately and I'm afraid some of the weight has come back. I really am afraid to get on the scale.

My eating since Friday hasn't been all that great, so I will not be posting a menu either.:o

Take care and again, HAPPY EASTER!!!

KIT, i just printed it off the SBP(using P for plan) i think i will go for it. i think like alkea that its similar to the atkins but can add fruit and vegies. which I think would be better for me adding low ones as i love them and miss them on atkins. so i am going for it MONDAY. If you like the Atkins KIT just stay with it. if it helps you. its almost like this one so we could all be on about same one. Yes i have a pretty good size meal planned. some like one thing and others like one thing. so do several.lol I did and i am so happy got some SUGAR FREE PUDDING MIX (BUTTERSCOTCH) TO MAKE ME A PIE...... Now that is thinking right.ha ha I just feel so good off the sugar. thanks ALEKA AND KIT. you 2 have helped me lots i love sharing with others and i think this is great to come into.My daughter just went and got dog goodies for tuffys basket.ha Hes glad lacee is getting some in hers to.
Prevention site has a neat message board i just read a few its large on this plan. well hey got to start getting something done or no one will be eating tomorrow.ha ha HAVE A NICE DAY ALL. LaDean:)
