Weight Loss Support - Pressure...

So this New Year...New Me...hasn't exactly gone off good. No weight loss thus far. Stressful and crazy.
So, my husband and I have been married going on 4 years now. Will be 4 years in June. We have a perfect relationship (hard to believe but it's insane how wonderful he is for me lol). We always talked about children...how many...names...etc. We even didn't avoid pregnancy for...years. Even before we were married we didn't avoid it. You would think I would have gotten pregnant, right?
Wrong. Well, maybe not. I did have what I say were very early miscarriages a few times, but no doctor to say for sure.
So with me being overweight and I have other issues, I really think I have PCOS. I had went to a doctor summer 2010 for a miscarriage and they didn't confirm it (the nurse said it probably was very early so idk), but said they were going to check for PCOS and such. I was sooooooo happy to finally get answers(btw no insurance so we were willing to pay for these answers). So blood drawn and whatnot. Well, come to find out (2 weeks later when I finally got a hold of someone to give me the results) they only did two tests and they didn't show much and wanted to redo them. Heck no!
So, still dealing with many issues (TMI but...haven't had a normal period...ever in my life...it's always been crazy...and I haven't really had one in a couple years I think...doctor was concerned about that but didn't do much to check for anything). Sigh.
I know it's probably because I'm only 26 and should be relatively healthy but I want kids...I want a family. My husband wants kids a lot and thinks we should try now (we've been not trying for some months). Even his family thinks we should have a baby now (and before I think they didn't want us to so early in our marriage).
My problem is that I want to lose this weight before I try to do that. I don't want to get pregnant get up to 300 lbs or something. I know that can be dangerous. AND my weight could be part of why I can't get pregnant/stay pregnant. BUT that also is crazy to me because I know plenty of women around my weight that have gotten pregnant easily. Sigh.
I'm just so frustrated I guess...at myself.

Sorry for what you're going through. I can't really relate to the baby thing since I don't even have the wonderful husband yet to consider children. :-) But here's my 2 cents.
First, congrats on the good marriage. That's something to definitely cherish. Second, you very well might have PCOS and my understanding is that it's extremely difficult to diagnose. I actually think that I have it. Hormonal issues, irregular periods, hair growth...all the symptoms. When I asked my PCP about it, she wouldn't test me for it because she said you can't really diagnose it. But from asking around in the PCOS support forum, it sounds like it's best to go to a gyn to get diagnosed. In the end for me, they put me on metformin becuase I've also got diabetes. I'm on the same medication that's used for PCOS treatment anyway. So I figure that I'm not going to push for a diagnosis as long as I'm being treated for it anyway. One day I'll push to figure it out, but I've got too much going on to deal with it today.
Anyway, my long winded point is about metformin if you haven't heard about it before. I don't know that I see the miracle aspects of it that others have. But I do think it has prevented me from gaining weight. Hasn't magically lost any weight for me, but I haven't gained. It's made my period regular. And it helsp to control my glucose levels. But I've heard one of it's best side effects is to use it to assist in conception/fertility issues. Something like that. Look it up. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it. As far as I'm aware there aren't any serious side effects that would be bad for you if you took it and didn't have PCOS. Some doctors even prescribe it for weight loss although that's not why I'm on it. But what I'll warn you about is the diarrhea aspect. That's the worst side effect for me. A lot of people experience this but it goes away in a few weeks. I still have issues with it, but I'm dealing with that through over the counter immodium and such until I get my diabetes under control. But I read many stories about how women conceived using Metformin. Maybe you just need a little push.
Anyway, if you want kids then defnitely work to figure out a solution to your problem. I'm now 36 husband/childless because I hid behind my weight for many years. I'd recommend to any woman to figure out early on if they want kids cause you may wake up one day and realize that it's too late.
Metformin, Look into it. Don't give up. Good Luck!

Thanks for posting!
I love my husband...sooooo much. I never thought I would ever deserve such a person. But somehow I have him. And want a family with him. At one point his aunt (she and her husband never had any children) asked if we would be okay with just each other...no kids. I literally just looked down and tried not to cry. I didn't know how to answer such a question. 26 and the thought of no kids...when I'm the type that was born to be a mom. *shrug*
I've researched allllllll about PCOS. I think I have it. 99.9% sure. I don't have a regular doctor because no insurance. So we don't see one regularly. Things coming up and we may get insurance so maybe at that time I can see a doctor. Preferably not the one I saw previously (she did nothing except two blood tests...when I hadn't had a period for almost 2 years at that point). I do know I don't have a glucose issue (that is one test they did), but my thyroid could be slightly off (so small a blip that they wanted me to redo the test).
I don't gain weight. I've been about the same for a year now...maybe longer. I was slightly less when I first 'met' my husband but with working late nights (11pm-7am) I gained a little. I was heavier at one point but somehow have managed to remain the same for a good year. Not where I want to be, but nice to know I can't gain more at this point. Now just trying to get a good portion of it off. :(

Hopefully you will get everything straightened out and focus on having that family. Don't pressure yourself too much and worry, focus on your health right now even though you can't see a dr. Do things like cutting your carbs and sugars down, eating 3 meals a day and a snack. Try to lose weight and everything will work out when the time is right. Don't give up but also you may be putting to much pressure on yourself. Things happen when they are suppose too, you can't force things to happen. If you were meant to be that mom you are hoping for then it will happen when the time is right Have some faith in yourself :)
