Talking under-eating a factor in my bingeing

I've made good progress since last fall but recently I hit a bit a plateau. I was soooo hungry in the evenings. I started to binge which just cancelled out the exercise and diligence of the day.

A friend suggested I track my food/exercise to ensure that I eat 1200 calories today, using a calories intake - calories burned calculation. I have tracked this for five days now and based on what I was eating prior to tracking I was not eating enough for my body to allow me to lose anymore weight. This was really hard for me to accept. I have worked so hard and I was so afraid that if I ate more I wouldn't lose. But I caved in to the numbers and started increasing my calorie intake (having healthy carbs and snacks). Nothing new as far as excercise just yet. Today was weigh in and I'm down 2lbs from last week!

I feel so empowered! To think I can indulge in healthy snacks and still lose weight is really liberating for me. I do not have to be a slave to starvation to lose weight! I know this sounds obvious to others but I'm very addicted to food and find it's really hard to manage that addiction without going overboard...

Anyway, I am super excited at the prospect of a healthier eating plan WITH more results! Big breakthrough for me today that I really wanted to share. Yay!!!

A big Congrats to you! I think that's awesome. Any light bulb moment is a good one. I'm still struggling. I just posted a thread about my most recent binge. Mine's more of an emotional eating issue. But sometimes I do wonder if I'm not getting enough calories during the day since I only count carbs and not calories. So it's good to hear from someone that making sure you're getting enough calories is just as important. I agree with you that I'm nervous about letting myself have too much or I'll go crazy. But not getting enough is bad too. Ugh, this process is just difficult.

Regardless, congrats on your victories. Looks like you've been doing really well for awhile.
