Yo-Vinnie how you doing? Love this.
Morning chicks, it is 5:20 am,-1, snowing or raining, some of both. I hate this stuff.
Ladies I should have started the post last night as I was thinking of all kinds of stuff then but now all I can say is that, "I want my warm beddddd."
I think it was Debbie that said a thunder storm was on its way, I love a good warm thunder storm.

One more thing before I go, Miss I will be thinking of you today. I will pray for you and yours, please remember, you are loved.

Well all for now, stay OP, have a safe Sunday, but take a large slice of the good day with you.
Love Tazcat.

Can I have that slice of a good day to go? I really need it!

I am getting better, slowly. The headache part has worn off but I still have a scratchy throat and stuffed nose. Spent most of yesterday as a couch potato. Dh and I are trying not to cross infect each other by sleeping in different rooms. Miree has a cough but her nose seems OK. Trust me, now is not the time to visit.

More of the same today, however, we ended up getting dumped on last night--it even blew down the stairwell to our basement door! Rosie is in her glory :)

Have a good day everyone!

and more coming down! I had to really shove to get the door onto the deck open for the doggage because there was a 2 foot drift! They had a ball out there romping in the new white snow. Church is cancelled and there is no way for Show Handling this afternoon! :cb: We are going to just cozy in and wait for Spring!
Coffee and a leisurely breakfast on the schedule this morning. :)

Wow! It's supposed to be 75F here today, so we are going to throw open our windows and enjoy some warmth before the cold front comes in. We had thunderstorms yesterday with tornado watches, so I guess Mother Nature wants to make it up to us! ;)

I have been embarrassingly absent from the threads lately, I apologize. I read you all every day and laugh and sometimes want to cry, I just have to carve out a few minutes to post! Shame on me :nono:

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend, enjoy the snow if you're getting some, and enjoy the sunshine if that's coming your way. Talk to you later!

RUTH.........wasn't me this time!!!!!!! It was Sherri!!!!!!!!!! I swear I won't tell you that it was 71 here yesterday!!!!! I swear!! I swear!!

Any decorators amongst us?? My hubby is actually very good, but when he isn't interested in decorating, he isn't interested. I want to redo my bedroom. Do you pick out the wall color first or the window treatments and pick the wall color out of the window treatments? Oh....so many decisions  I picked a few wall colors out yesterday, hubby doesn't like any of them, but he told me what did it matter if he didn't like them  After almost 23 years of marriage.........I have him right where I want him!! I guess there really isn't a "better" way, is there?

Off to look at my paint samples again.

Have a good one all. I hope our northern ladies don't get buried in all that snow.

I am NOT using the "F" (lorida) word and I am NOT telling you that the sun is shining and I have doors and windows open and I am NOT telling you that it's to be 70 in Houston again today. I am not telling you cause our wonderful moderator really does have a metal bra and a chickie purse with deadly talons.

Things here are so ol', same ol....

I hope to get back in a bit. Have a great one!

Ya know, "us" southern ladies are gonna pay for this! In July, as we "glisten" the northern chicks will be sitting on their decks in 75 degree weather with no humidity, while they enjoy their 4 days of summer................running quickly out of thread while snowballs once again rain down upon me.

DEB! Throw down those paint chips! Head directly to a fabric store and shop for the fabric you love. You can pull wall colour out of it. You can use the fabric for a pillow, a bedspread, a curtain, whatever and the colours you use in a room should go around that. Pays to watch trading Spaces you know! :) tee-hee.... Happy decorating!

Miss D.---my signature should say "drop the donut" today. Who am I to break the after-church tradition of going to Krispy Kreme? Ok, so I didn't need to actually EAT one, but I'm only human!
North Carolina is extremely windy today. So, the warm temps of yesterday have all blown away and have been replaced by mid-50's.
Whoever lives the closest to me needs to come kick my butt back on program. Or do this: :tape:
Hope everyone has a great low-carb day!

Deb, we're in Goldsboro. It's about an hour or so east of Raleigh-Durham. And you're right about us "glistening" in the summer. Holy cow, was it hot last summer!

I just have to laugh at these threads...I've been lurking here for a while (actually have posted a couple of questions and comments). I started low-carb a couple of weeks ago...I'm losing, so I'm sticking with it for a while!

But I had to chuckle at the diverse group here...from the snowy north to the tropical south! I'm in south Louisiana myself--the weather's very similar to Houston, MamaJ. I think in the wintertime our northern gals are going to have to live vicariously through us, and vica-versa in the summertime! Anyone like to garden? I'm headed outside for late winter cleanup (yes, it's late winter here!), to prune back the roses and see what's already blooming. I can see the daffodils, lorapetalum, and dianthus from here...

It is still snowing here so enough of the garden talk already - unless you have a spare bedroom! (Actually I love garden talk because then I know Spring is on its way. A friend reports robins in Georgia - they'll be here by April.)

I finally got my new printer hooked up and working. I've just been too darn busy the last ten days to tackle it. It went well - once I started to read the PC instructions rather than the MAC ones! The woodstove is burning, Harry is reading and the Doggage are lying and sleeping on the couch. I think I'll go and agitate them a bit - can't have too much sloth!

Happy Sunday afternoon!

I need a break, so I'm back again. Mr. Clean and I have the stove pulled out from the wall and are getting all the gunk and spider webs out. This is definitely not my favorite chore, and gets done only when necessary. We have relatives coming from Michigan next weekend and the following weekend. They are all on their way to Florida, and we're a convenient stop along the way. So, the nastiest bits of housework have to be done. On a good note, I found a missing steak knife and a soup spoon! I might as well pull out the fridge next while I'm at it. Ugh.
Well, I'm off!
P.S. justjane, I wanted so badly to start working the dirt in my flower beds today, but it is just too windy. I'll definitely start this week, though. Have fun for me, too! My pansies are still in bloom from October, when I planted them, and my azaleas are full of buds, but no blooms yet. I did see a tree flowered out this morning, though, but I'm not sure what it was. Spring, yeah!!

Deb......I took my favourite lipstick colour smeared on a piece of white paper, and matched it up to get my bedroom colour. Its beautiful.....deep rich red/burgandy with super high gloss white trim. (hubby's fav lipstick):o

Been out and about all day. Was suppose to have a gf come to visit for a couple days, but its snowing pretty bad where she is, so she is staying put.

Been op all day today, first day in a while.....I asked hubby to pick up a diet vanilla coke for me, just a small treat to satisfy the sugar monsters.....and the one he picked up wasnt diet :( I wont dare touch the regular stuff....regular coke to me is like alcohol to an alcoholic. Very dangerous stuff for me......so I'll be off later to exchange it.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi all,

Ruth asked me to stop lurking and start posting so here I am.

Just a teensy bit about me.....PCOS, low-carbing is the only way I've been able to lose weight. But have a problem, at about Day 4 or 5 I start to gain and gain back what I've lost that week.

I'm not doing Atkins, but Protein Power. I've been through every single "known" staller. But not really sure I'm stalling. I think I may just be rather resistant, due to the PCOS.

I'm on Day 4, and am down 4.5lbs. YEA for me. Tomorrow is the dreaded Day 5. Keep good thoughts for me. I'm at 243lbs and need to lose about 100 to be to an "ideal" weight, not a skinny weight, mind you!!

I'm hoping to marry my wonderful fiance sometime this year(who met me larger than I am and requested that I don't become a "skinny chick"). I'm thinking a nice curvy size 12 or 14 would be great! Just got a beautiful engagment ring a few weeks ago. We sell Antique Jewelry and happened upon a set of pearls at a local auction with a gorgeous clasp with a sparkly stone. I thought it was a CZ, due to it's size and sparkle. Lo and behold, after a trip to the local pawn shop to test it, it's REAL. Not only that but it's about 150 years old, an old mine cut diamond, which basically means, they cut it using their leg power and a wheel to grind it. It's about a carat and an exceptionally good one. Anyways, told you all of that to say, (you can't tell I'm excited to get an engagement ring, can you?? LOL)...Sam (fiance) had the clasp taken off the pearls (which is set in platinum) and then mounted to a ring! We paid $1 for the diamond and I have a beautiful old engagement ring now! woo hoo!

Anyways, along the current thread...of weather. I live in Southern Indiana and we had about 1-2" of snow last night and now are forcasted to get 4-8" more tonight. I grew up in California and never had snow, so I LOVE the winter and cold. Nice weather to snuggle up in and slurp on some coffee (with splenda and cream of course!) I'm not jealous of the Floridians or Southerners, cause like some of you said, I don't sit here and sweat all summer in the humidity…hehehehe. Ok, truth be told we do have some humid days...but not all summer! LOL

I really look forward to getting to know all of you. You seem like such a nice and fun group.

Yvonne

Hey everyone,

I was just lurking through the posts, thought I'd tell nettie that I live in New Bern, NC. I'm desperately in need of willpower. Tomorrow is gonna be a new day for me. Family issues have got me mindlessly munching.:o , oh well, hope everyone had a great weekend.

Great minds do think alike. I just got done cleaning up my patch of a yard. We live in a quadplex, so it's not a huge yard, but I love gardening. Transplanted my winter pansies and readied the front bed for something new.

Welcome to all the newbies who've decided to come out and play. - Yvonne, your ring sounds beautiful. We held out for something "unusual" too. Speaking of weddings, I'm now the same size as when I got married. Woohoo!

Just thought I would drop in to tell you guys that it was a beautiful day in Cali with almost 70F sunshine. Hubby and I spend 4 hours at baseball practice with #1 son and it was sooooo warm and nice! This was the 3rd Sunday practice in a row so we are feeling very lucky since we usually get quite a bit of rain this time of year. (now I've probably jinksed it and we will be rained out next few weekends!) I'm a born and raised Sacramento, Cali girl and just HATE cold weather.

Another thing I have to comment on: I would freak out if I had houseguests that would snoop behind my stove and frig! To quote a joke my mom used to claim "You could catch VD back there!"

Ok - back to lurkdom.....

Nettie--the cookie thing cracks me up!! I have off plan all weekend--back on track tomorrow--Maybe I shook things up a bit and now my big WHOOSH will come!!

Dyan--getting ready to log onto the web site about dreams--that dang elevator is still bothering me!

I've been off my plan all weekend too. Today I had my sis and BIL, daughter and her hubby here for dinner. Ordered in Chinese and then sent all the leftovers home with daughter. Once a year is enough for Chinese food IMHO.
It was a gorgeous, sunny day and all my crocuses opened up. Bulbs are growing at an incredible rate right now. The winter pansies and heather are looking terrific too.
There's fresh snow on the mountain tops around us but none here in the valley at all this winter.
Still a bit too chilly and wet to do much in the gardens but my BIL (who is Greek and knows about such things) pruned my grape vines for me today.
I was so discouraged with my lack of weight loss in the three weeks I've been on Xenical and following their plan that I just decided to give myself the weekend off. Now, why is it some people can have a weekend diet-free and are happy to just eat more healthy food but I have to go on a frantic search for chocolates and other high carb stuff? I seem to have a feast or famine mentality.

Hi Linda,

I was curious, how you were able to combine low-carb with Xenical, are you doing low-carb and low-fat?

I'm sorry it's not working so well for you :(

I was on it 3 months and GAINED weight. I was NOT low-carbing, but was FAITHFUL to low-fat myself to death. Couple with that, I was eating between 900-1200 calories, it was frustrating to say the least and I was VERY hungry!

Good luck!

welcome to the new folks!!

Yvonne, protein power is the diet I lost over 100lbs on....and I have pcos. So I wish you all the best!!!!!! I will admit though that the weight didnt come easily, and it took ALOT of walking to wittle it off, but it was worth it.

Ive since gained 40 of it back, (my own doing) and am doing Atkins.

Robin :)
