Default Getting depresed

This happens a lot during the winter with me and it is so rough to diet because of it. Though there has been many of sun it is still frigid out and going on jogs and walks is impossible with this crazy New York weather. I want to start exercising but I just can't find the motivation to and then i'm also really depressed and when I get like this I just start giving up on everything.
How do people keep their moods up and their motivation and determination?

I feel like i'm losing it every day that goes by.

I started taking a women's 1 a day vitamin and I've noticed that it gives my mood a boost. Nothing HUGE but it does help. It doesn't give me any more motivation but I feel better when I take one. That's about the only advice I have though =/

Hang in there! You can ride out the winter. Just think of how accomplished you'll feel when it's spring =)

Honestly I was thinking the same thing. I'm going to get 1 a day vitamins because I was always in a better mood when I was taking them.

I force myself to exercise - it's the only way I stay un-depressed.

If you can't go outside, there are plenty of free work out videos online or on Exercise TV.

There's even some that are geared toward walking indoors.

I take 'One a Day for Women' too, and include an orange in my breakfast. It's been a very mild winter here as well, but an extra bit of Vitamin D still seems to help. A cup of coffee in the morning is also a must for me.

Usually, starting the day off this way gives me good results.

Sounds like a disorder my cousin has called "Seasonal Affective Disorder" or SAD. She is always really happy and energetic in the summer but when winter hits and the day light hours are shorter and the weather is just darker in general she gets depressed and lethargic.

Her doctor recommend she take 2000mg of vitamin D daily instead of the regular 1000mg dose, a multivitamin and fish oil supplements. She also said that light box therapy really helped her.

This does sound like seasonal affective disorder. Talk to your primary care doc or psychiatrist (if you have one). Light therapy does wonders for this and maybe even antidepressant pills during the winter could help.
