We have had rain overnight and it is nice and 'fresh' this morning.
Not much has happened, today is the fourth American's Cup Race. It is an all day live broadcast on TV, your dh would probably like it Ann but I can do without:rolleyes:
Good effort of your dh to make himself some scrambles eggs Lily :D Lucky you getting fresh flowers as well for Valentines Day. I just love fresh flowers and eventually I want to have a garden that I can always pick some fresh flowers for in the house.
I wished I had some scales, you would all be very impressed with how I am keeping on track:D The biggest help is that there are heaps of WW items on the super market shelves and also that each day I go to the supermarket and get what I need for lunch/dinner that day. No stocking up of what I might need for a week and then eat the lot in three or four days. DH has been able to tighten his belt 2 notches, going by that, I am sure I would have lost a bit as well. I certainly don't feel as bloated.:)
Off to the rugby tomorrow night, goodness knows why I am going but there must be something in Rugby that I am missing, rugby and the Americans Cup is all that they talk about here in the paper and on TV.
Received an email from our d-i-l, she was again selected for the Australian netball side. DH has always dreamt of having a 'Scholz' play for Australia, she wanted him to know that on the back of her new Australian uniform is her new name;- Scholz:bravo: :cb:
The newly weds don't get much time to spend together, d-i-l is off to Jamaica for training for the World cup, the first 2 weeks in March. It is a bit tough on both of them.
Auckland for the weekend, hope I will have lots of posts to read on my return.:)
Cheers

Hi All:
So Maria: tell us about Rugby. How is that related to American football? Your shopping one day at a time is good for keeping on plan. My DH tooke me out to Olive garden for Valentines Day, several days late, as we had so much going on here in the park. It was very good, and of course I'm sure that much of it was not 'on plan' But we each made two meals out of it. We each brought home half and had lunch the next day.
Big surprise: my DH made home made bread the other day. He used to bake many years ago, and decided to try it again. It turned out very well. He was happy about his success :D:
Now that we are retired, he does cook now and then. Lucky me.But I have to clean up the kitchen, after he cleans it up.:D:
Hope everyone is all shoveled out from the snow. My granddaughter was snowed in in Baltimore for 2 days. Thats unusual for that part of the country.
The month of March here in the park is very busy. We have a big St. Patricks Day dinner and dance. We have a Toodle0oo party for saying bye bye to all the snow birds leaving to go back north again. A card party, a concert, my chorus show, our players show, so so it goes. Never a dull moment. All the full time residents are actually glad when the snowbirds decide it is time to go north. Then things calm down, and we get the roads back. :cp:
Talk to you tomorrow. Ann

Hi everyone, Maria hope the changes in the wind are not India. NZ sounds so nice. Ann you sure do keep busy. Do the same snowbirds come back year after year? We have a lot of snow but luckily not as much as east of here. And we are supposed to get more over the weekend. Blech!!!!! I am so ready for spring-a month from today. Been busy painting. Ann how was the homemade bread? That is one thing that I would keep eating till it was gone. I love to smell it baking. My dh does most of the cooking now that he is retired. He even does the shopping. Sometimes it is not diet friendly. I have been doing the Idita-walk. Have to walk 30 minutes a day for a month. That would come to the amount of minutes that equals the amount of miles that the dogs are running. Didn't anticipate all the snow and ice we have been having. Some days is really hard to do. Gotta run,

Peggy: I think we will all move to your house then and your DH can cook for us ;) I didnt know the Idita-walk was going on. I forgot to check. I did it last year. Helped me to make sure I did my Walks every day (threadmill)
Maria: Congrats to your DIL. Thats great she got selected again! I would love a garden where I could pick flowers to. But ALAS it wouldnt survive here as I always forget to water
Ann: Sounds like you have a very busy schedule next month. Im curious to, do the same people come back each year? Do new ones come to?
Well its Springlike here today. (dont any one hit me) Its in the 60's and just beautiful! We are going shopping in a little bit and out to a new place for Dinner. To nice to stay inside.
Later!

the Idita-walk?????????????
What is that all about?
Well we had 2 count them 2 beautiful day here in Minnesota. Now we are back in the deep freeze for a while again. I just hate when it is so cold that your eyes sting from it.
I'm going to making some quilted top pillows today for DD birthday. We gave her money eariler this month when she went to Cancun so now she gets pillows for her bed. She going to be 36 on Thursday.
My manager dropped in on one of my meetings this week. She need to evaluate my job and how the members react to me and the way I run a meeting. Didn't get fired got a good evaluation. I did tell her that by August this year I wanted to be down to 4 meeting a week. I already have some lined up to take over 4. I wanted to cut back so I could get used to being at home a little more. Thought I'd be able to join Curves for Women then.
Got to get off this and get busy or my day will be gone.

Karen: The Idita walk happens in Nome Alaska. But any one can join the money goes to the Nome Volunteer Ambulance Service. You get a nice Tshirt.
You can read about it here:

Good for you giving up some meetings.
I have heard Curves is really good. Alot of people rave about it.

G'day all,
We had a great weekend in Auckland, what a beautiful city, very many similarities to Sydney but on a much smaller scale and hence a lot more enjoyable.
Lots of hype about the American's Cup Yacht Race. Again we saw some beautiful scenery and took some photos.
I bought a couple of books on Photoshop which were not available where I live.
Well the Rugby on Friday night will be the first and last game that I will go to. I don't know what the similarities are with American football Ann but it just 'bash, crash, run and try and score a goal' :D Not my idea of fun. I was really amused by a fan who was in a 'cherrypicker' (a high crane) overlooking the field with a chainsaw which he started every now and then to rev up the crowd:rolleyes:, I'd never seen anything like it.
Since getting back I have been spending the day practicing and learning more about some of the great effects you can achieve in Photoshop. The books were over $200  but are really worth it and I am learning heaps.
I have also updated my webpage and there have included some of the 'tricks' ie; an animation of my children on the front page and a photo of myself with an urn.
Go and see for yourself on the New Zealand page, http://www.users.bigpond.com/amscholz , I thought I was terribly clever:D
I have had so many hassles getting the site uploaded due to the ridiculous speed I can connect to the internet in my motel but I finally achieved it.
I have not been able to come here either and send an email to those of you whose email address I have to let you know of my updated site.
I am back in an internet cafe at the moment posting this message.
DH flies out to Wellington very early on Friday morning, I will fly out at a more respectable time of 10 am! (couldn't get on the same flight). DH is doing a presentation in Wellington, we will overnight and then hire a car and drive back to Hamilton, another great opportunity for us to see as much as we can of this land.
My weight continues to go down (well at least according to my clothes), my s-i-l in Adelaide has joined WW and she is really doing well. I bought the latest WW magazine and there were some great articles, very inspiring :) The reason I can get so many WW groceries here is because WW products for the Asian Pacific Region are produced in New Zealand, you gotta be happy with that!
I hope the weather is becoming more kind for some of you.
I have about 10 minutes left so I will be off and check what the idita walk is all about.
Cheers :grouphug:

Hi Everybody
Maria you did a great job with the photo's and your web page. When you mentioned the picture of you and a "urn", did you mean you and the turtle?? :?:
Today has been a very unsettling day for me. I usually have tea time but today I didn't. Trudy is in the process of getting some dental work done, and another gal is in Cuba on holidays. I thought I would just cancel tea time until we could all be together. Another friend had called me a few days ago saying she hadn't seen me for some time so I phoned her yesterday morning and invited her to come to my place for lunch today. As it turned out, her and her husband were going to a funeral today so she couldn't come. She said to invite her again. I will. I kept busy, but the day just didn't seem right. Boy am I ever a creature of habit. I did manage to hang out at my computer more then I would normally, so that was fun. Tomorrow I will go out with my friend for a day of lunch and shopping so that will be nice since I missed my day with my friends today. For a short month, this February seems to be very long. It's the first time in 12 years I think, that I have not been away and also I think, it's the coldest February we've had for I don't even know how long. :(
We are having Salisbury Steak for dinner tonight with mashed potatoes. A real comfort meal, and I'm looking forward to it.
:) By the way, did any of you manage to watch "My Big Fat Greek Life" on TV last night, and what did you all think of it?

Hi all. Slavika: I watched it and was a bit disappointed. It seemed contrived and stiff in some spots. Maybe it will pick up after the first episode with all the hype, is now over. I was really looking forward to it.
Maria: Loved the photos on your Web Page. How clever to reverse yourself by the big urn. My dh saw it and wanted to know if you were identical twins.
Karen: Glad you are going to have a bit more free time. We don't have a curves here. I wish we did, as I would like to try it too.
To answer you all. Most of our Snow Birds come back every winter, as they own their homes here. 6 mo. here 6 mo. north. But we also have new people every year as there are some homes for rent. The month of March is our busiest one. It is the last push before everyone starts north. They usually leave in order to be home for Easter. So there is some activity every week. My Spring chorus program is in 2 weeks. Then I'll be a bit relieved, one less thing to be concerned about.
Peggy: I don't do the Idit walk, but do walk about 25 min. most days. A friend and I bike about 5-6 miles as often as we can. Have to keep up the exercise.
Looks to me like it is time for bed. Hope to talk to you later this week.  Ann

Hi all: You must think I am really losing it. Maria my monitor is "getting sick". It's difficult to see pictures as clearly as I used to. They are not as bright, although the rest of the stuff looks ok on the monitor. When my son was here on Monday, he said , yes, it looked like it was on it's way out, but maybe not just yet. I knew in the picture that you had done your" magic", but what I didn't know was that was an urn you were standing beside, hee hee  both of you. I didn't know until I read Ann's post.........so thank you Ann

Love your pictures Maria. It looks like a lovely place to visit. I looked at the picture of you and the urn... if i squint really hard, I can almost see Slavika's turtle..  It is true, her monitor is very dark.... but a turtle?? ..did you think he was standing on his hind legs with his little arms stretched out?? hee hee
Not much new with me.. still in Root Canal ****. As you can tell I am getting a bit stir crazy. Since my front tooth is in question I haven't been out since Monday. Tomorrow should be the last visit, I can't wait for Thur at 3:00, I just want it to be over already. One good thing about being home all the time, I am getting caught up with a lot of things I was putting off, like the ironing, doing a lot of baking and I did clean up my 'puter room. The worst part is not getting out, and not working out and doing a lot of nibbling.
We did baby sit on Saturday night. It was heaven. Our little angel is smiling and doing so well.
On Sunday we were at my brother's for din dins. It was my niece's 22 birthday. So hard to believe she is 22 already.
It is really cold here, even I am complaining about it. However we have been very lucky, sunny skies and no snow. The east has been just battered with one storm after another.
I didn't find The Greek Life too funny. The best parts were in the flashbacks between Nina and her father. I think they had to explain the movie to anyone who hadn't seen it. I am hoping next week will be better.
Did anyone watch Michael Jackson's interview? Now that was scarey. He sure has been getting a lot of attention lately, wonder if he has instigated it just to get back in the news. Tonight Barbra Walters interviews Robert Blake.. might watch that.
Ta Ta for now...

MAria: You have done excellent on your page! I saw the Urn photo was pretty cool! All the pictures of New Zealand were awesome. Its very pretty there. I will be there tomorrow to visit! You cant take me places :)
Slavika: Your probably just not use to being at home at this time. Your always on the go and your 2 favorite things got cancelled. Next week is another week and it will all be back to normal. Turtle? I must say you do need a new Monitor :) Love salisbury steak. So does DH. Havent made it in a while sounds so good.
Ann: I was disappointed in the Greek life to. Do hope it gets better. I thought it would be as good as the movie with most all the same people but it sure wasnt. Hopefullt next week will prove different!
Trudy: Yes I watched Micheal Jackson. Dont know why. I found him to be lair. To say he has never had Plastic surgery cept for twice on his nose. Please........ His nose is so badly deformed right now, it cant be this skin diasease he is always saying he has. I just dont beleive the guy anymore. Found the whole thing rather shocking. The only thing I found he said that made sence was that parents dont raise, pay attention and love their children enough these days. Nuff of my rant on him :)
I feel for you and all this Root Canal. Im sure its awful. Just a few more days and it will be over. Hang in there. Take care of yourself.

All, I have been "out", at least mentally because of this darned dislocated elbow. It is better--get the cast off tomorrow. Now I can finally curl my hair and put contacts in without help. We have had snow and ice all week. If I fall on this arm, I want someone to just shoot me. Have worked, but not very effectively. Will look forward to having the time and coordination to look at your page soon, Maria. I have been sort of depressed lately for me. Just the weather. Never take your right arm for granted.

Maria loved your NZ pictures. It is so pretty there and there also seems to be sun. Haven't seen that in weeks. More snow is expected tonight. I like your magic-didn't know that you were twins. :D I didn't watch Michael J. I am so sick of him and Joe Millionaire. Seems like every time you turn on the tv one of them is on it. Of course if I watched intelligent shows...... Trudy hope your tooth is doing better. Really hate root canals. I bet the little angel is growing. Glenda hope you get out of your funk. I think we need some spring or something. Karen did you doubt that you would get a good review? Slavika I forgot that you are allowed to visit Cuba. Did your friend like it? I would be curious to go there sometime. Lily have you gone on your business trip yet? Not fair that you are having such nice weather. Did you feel any of the earthquake last week? Forgot to watch the Greek Wedding show but it sounds like I didn't miss anything. Sometimes they should just stop when they have a hit. Not going to be a grandma yet. My dil had in vitro and lost it last week. It has been so hard on her. See you all later,
Trudy

Glenda So sorry to hear you had a dislocated elbow. That had to be so painful. How did it happen? I don't think I can do anything with my left hand. You are so right, we take our good health for granted, then when something happens to us we realize how fortunate we were.
Peggy How disappointed you and your son and family must be. They have been trying to have a family for a long time? I hope they won't give up. Have they tried to adopt?
Lily I found it funny that Michael Jackson said he only had 2 operations on his face when a doctor who worked in the same practice as his plastic surgeon said that he had at least 50 more. His face is grotesque now. I feel sorry his kids, Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II (aka.. Blanket) how could he have given them such silly names?
A funny thing happened today. My DH went out around 2:00 to do a few errands. I was on the 'puter checking out 3FC ... I heard a funny clicking noise and went to check. Nothing. So I thought it must be the furnace. The noise continued. I had my dental appt at 3:00 so I went to get ready, and the noise continued. I looked around the house 2 more times and saw nothing. Then I heard a "cheep cheep".. I went into the kitchen and there was a frightened little sparrow. I opened the back door and tried to shoo the poor thing out, but no luck. The bird was getting stressed out and was running around on the floor, it went under the china cabinet. My DH got home around 2:30 and we both tried to shoo the sparrow out. He got the bright idea of gently dropping a cloth over the little sparrow when it cornered itself under the drapes. Then he picked up the bird and took it outside. It did fly into the tree, and sat there for quite awhile.
I was so happy it didn't get injured. Our back yard faces south, and it was so beautiful out today, we think it was sitting on the lamp over the back door, and when the door opened it just flew in.
Part IV of the root canal is over, my life is back to normal. Tomorrow I intend on going to the gym.

Glenda: At least the cast is coming off tomorrow. Thats good news! Im sure its ben a pain with only one arm.
Peggy: They still havent decided when my trip is gonna be. So I dont know.
Weather is going back and forth now. One day its nice, they next day not. Was really raining hard today. Im ready for spring!
So sorry to hear about your DIL. Im sure its very hard on her and your son. But they will try again. My thoughts are with them.
Trudy: I agree the kids name are pretty strange. Feel for them. That poor sparrow! They get so frighten when they are in situation like that. So glad he didnt get hurt. So funny that he flew inside tho! Would of drove me nuts trying to find the noise!
Yeah! Does this mean the root canal is all over?
Gonna go watch TV for a while and hit the sack.
Night!

:grouphug: Hi Everybody
Maria would you please tell Trudy and Lily that you actually did have a picture in your album that had a turtle in it. :D :D I thought (well you have to remember the pictures were looking a little dark for me) that maybe that was not a real turtle but a "fountain type turtle"....you know with water coming out of his mouth. :?: O geez I think I'm making the whole situation even worse then it was. :) I better quit. Glenda when did you hurt your elbow and how did you manage to do that? That must have been painful. :(
How's your little McKenzie doing?
Peggy sorry to hear that your kids lost the baby. I know how it is. When our kids hurt we hurt. I hope next time things turn out much better for them.
Karen congrats on the good review. We would all give you a good one too. :bravo:
Ann so much for retirement eh?
Did you like how I slipped that Canadian "eh" there for you?
You are sure one busy gal in that park, but I guess you get a lot of enjoyment out of doing all the things you do too. It always sounds like a lot of fun. :hat:
I enjoyed the TV show My Greek Life but certainly not as much as I enjoyed the movie. I think maybe over the next few weeks the series will get a little better. I guess a 1/2 TV show with commericals interupting every few minutes, is not the same as doing a full length movie. I sure hope it will do ok. Night all.

Peggy - so sorry about the baby. when we were young and trying to get pregnant, i miscarried too and i remember how awful it was. took forever to get pregnant and then miscarried. my worst times were when i heard a news story about an abandoned baby. anyway, as you know, we eventually had 3 boys, so tell them not to give uo. actually, we had started adoption when i got pregnant with joel.
i dislocated my elbow on valentine's day. thought i would get into an early walking schedule. just totally klutzy and fell about a mile from home, right on my elbow and felt it give. in the er i have never had that much pain. doc put it back in without much medicine. will never forget that pain. have found out that God gave me a left arm only for balance.
trudy, poor birdie. lucky birdie to have flown into your house so you could save it. my little makenzie is growing, as i am sure your angel is. haven't seen her in 2 weeks. will be going that way this weekend. they say she has gained so that she fits her preemie clothes.

Bad day. Weigh in- up .8 Very frustrating, when I am on plan with very few cheating sessions. I think it was the Chinese dinner I had last night. Any excuse will do.:D
Glenda: so sorry about your elbow. But glad the cast is coming off. You will get your right arm back.
Trudy: Glad the root canal episode is over. They are most unpleasant. I really hate that rubber dam they put in your mouth. I always feel like I can breath. You little sparrow was looking for a warm and friendly house, I guess.
I have found out why I'm not gettin email notifications. MSN was sending them all back. so they stopped sending them. Needless to say we are seriously considering changing. But we have a few more months on the contract we signed in order to get a discount on our computer.
Karen: Did you have to talk to your groups about self image, and a three part program? We had it, and I wasn't impressed with the whole thing. Maybe it was just the way our leader did it, but I found very few people offering any input. Not at all like our group usually is.
Slavika: The 'eh' made me feel right at home. We used to live so close to the border. Just across the river. Glad I cleared up the 'twins' for you. :D
Peggy: So sorry aabout your kids. That is such a disappointment, and they have gone through so much. Maybe Glenda's idea will work for them. Start adoption proceedings, and then there is a relaxing of tension, and nature can take its course.
Lily: You haven't made your trip to Vancouver yet? There certainly has been strange weather all over this country of ours. One extreme to the other. Is it all El Nino?
Only one more week and my chorus concert will be over. We had a Las Vegas night last night. There is a company thata brings in all the equipment, and people buy chips to play Black Jack, etc. They win tickets, and at the end of the evening there is a drawing of tickets for nice prizes, including 2 months free land rent. We have a kitchen, and serve chips, and coffee, and orther nibbley stuff. Then there will be a Big St. Patricks Day dinner corned beef, cabbage and all the works. And so it goes. I am so glad that each one of these events has their own chairperson. I just have to find the chairpeople. and then they are on their own.
Time to go and fix my DH some dinner. Going to have Bangers and Mash. That is smoked sausage(healthy choice) amd mashed potatoes. Also a little fresh asparagus and salad. And fresh strawberries. I just have to fix it. Bye for now  Ann

Ann: We talked about self image and there was a lot of good responses from the members. I found it really interesting. I still have problems myself. I sometimes still go to the bigger sizes when I know I dont wear them any more. Your Las Vegas night sounded like it was fun! My DH work did that one time for there Christmas party. It was lots of fun doing things I wouldnt normally do as it wasnt Money! I played the roullette (?) wheel and even Black Jack. When its real I just put my 20$ in the slot machines. Ann I gotta tell you the the three part program on the levels of change went pretty good in my groups. I'm lucky because all of the people were willing to talk all about it. Starting with your environment ( where you eat) (home , office, car, Break rooms and work space) And how you behave in those environment. What to do to make them safe for you and WW friendly. Then your beliefs and capablities. A lot of us don't realize how successful we really are in our whole life not just Weight Loss. And by talking and remembering all of the success you've had, can make you realize that if you can be successful at one thing then you can be successful at weight loss. You just have to want it bad enough to work for it just like anything else in life. Your Identity is at the top of the level of change pyramid. And I truly believe that you need to change how you look at your self before you can have a lasting weight loss. If you continue to look at your self as a overweight person you will soon be a overweight person again or not beable to lose at all. It took a long while for me to realize all this. I think I had to hear it many time befor it all clicked for me.:)
I will now climb down off my soap box:tape:
Peggy sorry to hear about the bad luck your kids are having. We have young friend in town that had to do invitro many times they had save sperm from her Dh before his cancer treatments. They were down to the last try when it took good. She has three beautiful baby girls. So have them hang in there it will happen for them too:)

And maybe some of it was because I do have a pretty good self-image. Oh well. Thanks for your soap box. I appreciated it.
You are definitely not banned.
Do any of you have any good Mexican type recipes. We are planning a Fiesta Party in April and want something besides Tacos. I'd like an Enchilada recipe that doesn't use chiles, as we have a lot of people who can't handle highly spiced stuff. Also looking for some sort of dessert we can use. Flan is great, but we know we can't do that with having to bake in water bath. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Good night for now. Ann

:grouphug: Hi Everybody
Good Morning Ann
I got this recipe from a good friend and made it for a party and then once again after that. It is simple to make and really good.
It's a recipe from www.pillsbury.com and called,
Mexican Confetti Pinwheels. I'll put the recipe here for you but if you like you can go and take a look at it because it shows a picture. When I made the pinwheels for the party, I did it ahead of time and then they were just heated up. When I made them for my family I baked them and then we ate them right way. They are a little bit nicer if you bake them and then eat them but perfectly fine if you need to make them ahead. Each pinwheel is 60 calories, so even that is good.
Mexican Confetti Pinwheels - Makes 16 pinwheels
Ingredients:
1 (8-oz.) can Pillsbury® Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
1/3 cup purchased nacho cheese dip
1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup chopped pitted ripe olives
Preparation Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Unroll dough into 2 long rectangles. Firmly press perforations to seal. Spread rectangles with cheese dip to within 1/4 inch of edges. Sprinkle with bell pepper, onions and olives.
2. Starting at shortest side, roll up each rectangle; pinch edges to seal. Cut EACH ROLL into 8 slices, MAKING A TOTAL OF 16 PINWHEELS. Place slices, cut side down, on ungreased cookie sheet. (I used parchment paper)
3. Bake at 350°F. for 13 to 17 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm with taco sauce, if desired. :chef:

G'day all,
Glenda No wonder you are a bit depressed, blimey dislocating your elbow sounds horrendous, hope things are improving. It is amazing how when something like this happens you realise how much you need that right arm!!!!!! I would be hopeless. Take care and I think you are allowed to be a bit cranky.
Peggy I can only echo what Trudy said about the disappointment for your son and family.
Trudypleased the sparrow survived but more importantly you survived the root canal treatment and you are back to normal again.
Slavika You are right I have got a picture with a turtle or dragony thingo on my site. I have been reading you getting paid out about mistaking the urn for a turtle but I did understand what you were saying.
Do Canadians also finish all their sentences with 'eh', New Zealanders do this, I find it quite amusing. The New Zealand accent is quite difficult to understand (not the 'eh' ;) )
Ann Boy you do have a busy life, sorry to hear you were up in your weigh-in.
Karen Thank you for getting on your soap box, you should do it more often! You are absolutely right. I really feel that I will be succesful this time. I am very focussed and having my s-i-l attending WW in Adelaide also helps a lot. She knows I have been talking to you guys for a very long time and have shared lots of information so she looks to me for inspiration :dizzy:, I cannot let her down and WILL come back to Adelaide weighing quite a bit less.
It does take so long to get rid of that 'fat' picture in your head.
MY weekend was great and we saw a lot. DH left for Wellington early on Friday morning and he felt on arrival that his belt was a bit tight and was annoyed that the extra notch was really a bit too tight until he discovered that he had upped 2 notches instead of the one! DH of course doesn't have to loose as much as me but we are getting there. Everything is starting to feel looser.
I arrived lunchtime in Wellington and met dh for lunch. His presentations had gone really well and he was very happy. I moseyed around the shops and met up with dh again late in the afternoon. It was very warm, we had some drinks and then dh got a call to join some others on the harbour for drinks. We did join them and I had two 'buckets' of mineral water. One of the people told us about this fantastic Italian restaurant on the other side of town but within walking distance. So off we went and dh and I had a risotto (I had an entree size), it was just superb, neither of us have had a good risotto for a long time.
Next morning we picked up the rental car and started our trip back to Hamilton again. We went via the West Coast and thought to overnight in New Plymouth which we THOUGHT was a quite rural town. We forgot about Tom Cruise and Billy Connoly starring in a picture that was being shot in this town and the surrounding area. Not a bed to be found anywhere, unbelievable. We finally got to a B&B/motel used by truckies. It was clean and we had a good night sleep.
In the morning we went to Mt. Taranaki in the Egmont National Park. Mt Taranaki is the most climbed mountain in New Zealand it also claims several lives every year of inexperienced climbers attempting to climb it. We went a little way (by car!!!) up the mountain till we got to an information centre which was great. It traced the whole history of the mountain etc. etc. It is still an active volcano though it has not actually erupted for quite some time.
So far all the beaches we have been to have had black sand, quite strange. The other thing I cannot get over is that hydrangeas grow like weeds, we have seen huge bushes just alongside the road and even more of a 'weed' is the agapanthus, also just about everywhere.
The scenery is just so different of Australia. I don't think there are too many unhappy farmers here, everything is so green with lots of healthy looking cows. In fact we think there are more cows on the north island than sheep.
The other thing we just cannot get over how warm it is, there has not once been a need for the warm clothes we took and consequently the few clothes we have for warm weather, we are just wearing over and over again.
I went on a bit, I am writing all this off line in note-pad, I'll now get on line and 'cut&paste' this into the reply section.
This living away from home is just constant comprimising!!!!!
Take care all,
Cheers
Maria

I have always wanted to do that and now I have. Yippee!!!!
I have been rather remiss in not coming out of the shadows again and you all are so supportive I just wish that I could work out why this is so! Thank you.
This time I intend to stay in view and lose weight again and not Yo-yo as they say. I seem to have tried all types of "Diets" and am finding that by 3 pm I am ravenous and just let loose and eat continuously until I retire. HELP I am in your hands.
I have sung your praises to all my friends (few that they are) and am hoping to swell your membership.
Love and Hugs to you all.
Ash/Jenye.
I made it at least here is my message.
Jenye.
