I see chickies pecking around so will start us up and then come back to edit. More coffee needed now.

Good morning! I set my alarm earlier for more coffee/computer/Chickie time. :)

Ruth, What does it say under your name? I recognize 'good'. Friday is 12th Night -- the first day of the Mardi Gras season. My sister told me to get a King Cake. I told her that King Cake looks bad on my butt! :D

Getting back on a healthy eating plan has been going well. Going back to work has helped. I threw all the junk out of the conference room yesterday. It was old anyway.

:coffee: How about we all say to heck with it and stay huddled under the covers today? ;)

They did surgery on Jake yesterday and he did well, although it took 4 hours. Loooooooooooong morning in the waiting room with outdated magazines and terrible coffee. I did run out once to the Wawa down the street for coffee, and I should have brought back a thermos full of it.

We were home by 2, and I headed off to work until 7, so it was a long day.

Chelby, what makes a King Cake so special?

Back with more coffee which seems needed around here.

Chelby, "Mon pays, c'est l'hiver", means "My country is winter" and is from a song by Giles Vigneault a Canadian singer. Remember, we are officially a bilingual country. I didn't realize Mardi Gras season started so soon down there - I was thinking the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday - but of course it's for Epiphany and the arrival of the Wise Men.

Linda, so glad Jake is through that operation now. Too bad you didn't have your Kindle along. By the way, I got a Kobo (similar) for Christmas and still haven't mastered it. I think I'm losing my techie smarts as I age!

The dogs bumped the kitchen door open last night around 3 and joined me in bed. I guess they were too cold in the back room because they sure snuggled in. Jazz would worm his way under the covers if I allowed it.

This morning I have things to do around the house, including about an hour of quilting, and then will drop them at the kennel on my way to Ottawa. I'll be back tomorrow afternoon after a good visit with my friend Shirleyanne. I was considering some shopping but will wait until I check my Mastercard bill. :( I am vewy afwaid!

Happy Hump Day, Beachies.

Good morning all, just having my first cup of coffee before I get ready for work. Weather here is fantastic for January in Saskatchewan , we are expecting highs of plus 3 Celsius ( that's low forties) we often are dealing with minus 20-30 or even minus 40 at this time of year. Yesterday was day on of phase 1 restart, went fairly well other than I didn't get enough water and by bedtime I was hungry. I plan to get more water in today because I'm expecting detox to hit any time now. Well, I better get ready for work so have a great day.

Hi, Blue, and welcome to the Beach. It's nice to see another Canadian here. Yes, that is pretty mild for winter out there.

Good Morning, chicks! It is very frigid here today. I felt for my poor babies going out into the dark cold morning as I poured myself another cup of tea. I think I accidentally double-dosed my thyroid med yesterday, and I feel great today. I haven't felt this positive or had this much energy in quite a while. Hopefully, the doctor will bump up my dosage next week; I think it'll make a huge difference. We're trying to settle into our winter routine. DH is away until early May, and I hope to be well back on track by the time he gets home. Looking forward to eating clean and feeling good!

Chel, how did the cauliflower cakes turn out?

Morning, all.

Yoga yesterday was great! But hard. And, my leg bothered me the rest of the day. Sigh. But I'm going to ignore that and try to go back twice a week for a while.

This morning an electrician is coming to fix the short (or whatever it is) since DH could not. He was so frustrated to have to call in someone!

And my goal for the day is to finally take down the Christmas tree.

Good Morning:sunny:

Yesterday was a slammin' busy day at work so I'm happy $$. When I got home we packed the car and sit in Glenwood this morning. :cp: Mom and sis will arrive at 930 then we'll plan our day. I have some decluttering to do at mom's which I'd better attack very soon.

Have a great day everyone!

good morning,

Today I am grateful that DD and family are safe at home. The major highway they take was closed and there were 4 fatalities and 3 injuries. They took at 150km detour and when they got there that highway was closed too so another 150km detour. Finally after 10 hrs they got home (this trip should take about 5hrs maximum). Also so grateful for a cell phone that we could keep in touch and see what was happening. A friend whose daughter lives in that direction told me they always celebrate Christmas at the end of September. Now I know why.
Off to organize a shopping list, have to tighten our belt in January.
Hope everyone has a good on plan day.
take care
Sophie

Good morning, everyone! Finally have a kitchen fully stocked with SBD goodies, although we forgot cheese :(. Going back today to stock up on cheese, then we will be set!

Off to drink more coffee and make some breakfast.

Have a great day, everyone!

Morning everyone! It's been so difficult to get out of bed in the morning, and I just don't seem to have the head to start the daily if no one else has. But whatever.

For today (at least) and the last couple of days I seem to be in a place of extraordinary acceptance about my body. It feels great and I'm not really having any difficulty staying on plan at least for right now. Praying this good feeling continues...hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Wednesday all!
Getting up to go to the gym @ 5am was TOUGH today! Of course, felt great when I got there, I am always shocked when I say this, but I LOVE working out! I love the way it makes me feel!!

Back on plan, love clean eating.
Have a great day!

Hi everyone. I am new to the boards but not SB. The 1st time doing SB was about 7 years ago and had great success. Then I fell off the band wagon. I tried doing SB a few times more but with no success. I guess I wasn't prepared. I now weigh more than when I delivered my son :( NO MORE!
As of yesterday ALL goodies are out of my house and I went SB grocery shopping yesterday :) Now to chop, chop, chop so I am prepared.
Today is the start of the new me. Wish me luck :)

I'm ready to head back to bed myself. Just barely halfway through the work day.... at least I get a lunch break here shortly!

How's everyone doing so far in 2012? So far, so good for me. Most of you know that I'm a habitual weigher, so I know I'm down 4 lbs from Jan 1, but I'm not counting anything until WI Day. (We all know how the weekends can make or break my weight loss....)

So I am not really going with the "resolution" thing this year, just more like... with family history of heart disease and recent reality check with my dad (he just got a pacemaker put in at 65) I'm going back to eating right. I don't care if Chris won't eat right so it costs more to buy double the food. Chris agrees since my dad already is having issues that I probably need to take care of myself, strengthen my heart, etc.

So yeah, eating right for health, not weight loss this year. And forever. I'm not going to lie and say I won't be having an occasional indulgence, but I figure one day of eating off-plan every so often is MUCH better than one day of eating ON-plan every so often. Right?

The other thing I did (and am outright admitting it....) I bought my first pair of compression pants for running, and bought a new pair of running shoes. I thought about it, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of my closest girlfriends runs or is starting to run this year. So, starting next week, I'm going to be running on Tues, Thurs, Sat (and possibly Sun,) and doing workout DVD's on the off days. Here's the other thing. I'll be running OUTSIDE. In the COLD. This is what makes me nervous, but don't want a gym membership, so I suppose I'm going to have to face the elements, suck it up, put on my big girl panties and do it. Anna's mom (I call her my "Baby Mama" ;)) is going to run with me, and I have another friend that will run with me on weekends that she doesn't have her daughter.

I'm very excited, yet still super scared because I REALLY HATE being cold. Like, if it's cooler than 75 indoors or outdoors, I'm freezing. Chris keeps the heat set at 70 in our house most of the time, and I typically wear a long sleeved shirt with a fleece long sleeved hoodie over it, fleece pants, and socks, and am still cold. Sooooo.... yeah we'll see how it goes. Not making it a resolution, just really going to try because I need to strengthen my heart. I sleep 8-9 hours a night, get up, sit in my car on the way to work, sit on my butt in my cube for 8 hours, sit in my car on the way home, and then sit on my butt all night. There's no reason I can't take an hour out of my evening to take care of myself.

So anyhoozle, I hope everyone else is well. I made all of that public so you all can hold me accountable.... still haven't posted it to FB yet. I'm still afraid.

Have a great OP day! :D

Lisa - I love that you and Anna's mom have such a good relationship.
Are your big girl panties insulated? You're a braver woman than me, that's for sure.

 Hello everyone. Still at the hospital. DW has been sleeping a lot and I don't touch type so no posting in the dark :)

It's crazy cold here today. I have Raynaud's and just can't keep my fingers warm in this weather. It's no fun. Guess that's what happens when you live in Vermont! I'm glad there's stew to heat up when I get home tonight.

Cyndi - a King Cake is traditionally served on Epipaphany or 12th night. It symbolizes the three wise men "recognizing" Jesus. Usually there is a bean or a little plastic baby or king baked into the cake and if you get the slice with the bean/baby/king, you may have a set of obligations, i.e. to make the King Cake the following year or host the Epiphany party the following year. Epiphany continues until Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), the season of Lent begins the next day.

Cyn - I love Anna's mom. She's become one of my very best friends over the last couple of years. Very cool girl. And if they make insulated big girl panties, then I'm going to need them! Delaying the running because A) Baby Mama has sprained tendons in her foot and is off til next week, and B) My running shoes won't be here until next week. Those are kind of important.

But I'm going to really try to do it! I swear!

Happy Day/Evening to all! I'm new, so I feel silly chatting, but I'll never get to know you if I don't start somewhere.:)

Today is day 2 for me. I am so thankful to read about your every day lives and your struggles and victories. I find them more inspirational than the stories in the SBD book because it shows that despite the elements or tragedies there are people who are sticking with their eating regimen. Thanks for the inspiration.

Weezle - I'll take running in the cold any day over the treadmill! I had to do TM today, since I didn't have time before the kids came home...ICK!! Anyway, I bought a pair of winter tights on sierratradingpost.com, they are FANTASTIC!!! They were actually too warm in the 37 degree run, but cozy at the 25 degree run!! WOO HOO!!

I poked in this am, but the thread started late, then went ca-razy! It's been an okay kinda day...i resisted temptation at work at one of my weak times (a long dental always drains me!).

Thanks for explaining the King Cake tradition, Mathilda. The only thing I will add is that any King Cake I've ever had was a large, dry, not-so-yummy cinnamon roll. They are beautifully decorated. :) There is a new bakery that makes them out of donuts. I'm very thankful that bakery is 500 miles away.

Weezle, Running... There is not enough sport bra. :yikes:

PearlRose, Hope you feel better soon!

Twynn, Did you GO to the dentist or were YOU the dentist?

Auston goes back to school tomorrow. Yay!

Help!!! I'm detoxing pretty bad and I'm not sure the best way to handle it. I'm nauseous, diarrhea, fatigue. I feel like I have the flu but I think it might just be detox. I'm on day 2 of phase 1

ABue 1, I am also on day 2. I am not feeling as ill as you are, so I'm thinking you have the flu. In either case, I hope you feel better.
