Good Afternoon all,

Cathy you are so adorable. I just loved watching "our" show and when she put that vodka in her drink I just cracked up laughing. She's got such a good heart but man oh man she really speaks what's on her mind! Our holiday yesterday was an Alberta holiday called "Family Day". I'm not sure why it was even created but hey a long weekend is a long weekend. Spent the day doing laundry and putzing, capped off with a treadmill workout and then asleep by 9:00. I am so exciting!

Hope you all have a great day.

Pam

I'm here, I'm here :dizzy: -- just shoveling out from under all the snow we got. Love winter! Did horribly yesterday WW-wise -- ate everything and anything. Must be something about being snowbound. Back on track today though because I want to be a babe again :smug:

Rented "Banger Sisters" and watched that last night -- cute but I am not a big fan of Goldie Hawn -- jealous of her body. Susan Sarandon wasn't bad either -- I am never going to eat again :D ! How many times have I said that before????!

Dahlia, what a scare you had over the dogs -- glad that tale had a happy ending as I was almost afraid to read to the end. I have two dogs, three cats and two hamsters -- you do get attached.

Cathy and Pam -- great job on staying on plan -- keep kicking me in the butt because I really want to do this this time. Why, oh why, do I love to eat and hate to exercise?? Actually, I like to exercise most of the time -- it's just getting in the mood.

I have some filing to do today that Russ brought me home from the store. But I'll procrastinate a bit more by checking out Cathy's web site -- sounds like a good plan to me!

Hey, that blouse sounds "hot to trot" there, Cat -- I admire you for buying a size a wee bit too small. And, I'll be clapping for ya when you fit into it too -- and jealous!! Nah, maybe just a little but it's good motivation for me!

Ok, back to the trenches -- later gators!

Terry :)

 Ok, what was I suppossed to see in the circle?? Sometimes -- OK, all the time -- I get brain dead on those things. Katie (22 yr old DD) once did a project for one of her art classes in college and I was suppossed to see the leopard amidst a maze of spots -- never saw it (she got a great grade so I knew it was me!). The card game has to tied into the computer somehow -- don't know how, but it has to be. But I love the Wizard because he said I was "irresistable"

Thanks Cathy!!

Hello ladies,

Just wanted to report both dogs are fine..Whew!! she had us worried there for a bit.

CAt90.. its an old card trick.. but when you do it, watch the other cards suits... they all change.. you only notice the colors are the same but they are all different.. you are busy concentrating on the one card you picked so you don't pay attention to the others.. but try it again and pick a couple of them and watch when they faze out yours,, they change all the suits...:) is a nifty trick...

Have my grandbabies here, so can't be on long.. just took a break while the youngest is napping. Doing good so far with eating... hard to eat when you are chasing a one yr. old and a two yr. old around..

 thanks Dahlia for the explanation..think i'll keep it to myself and not tell hubby :s: what a  trick  you can tell i don't play cards can't ya?
Terry..i don't know what you're supposed to see  i tried it twice and i did see the 'circle' and thought for a minute that i saw Jesus
Pam..you can say that again..Cathy certainly speaks her mind i think that's what i love about her and that smile of her's is just infectious :D she said she was glad that she was wearing jeans again and that she had a plan :s: wonder what it is? watch this space ;)
Ooooh, 1.30pm and i'm still in mi' dressing gown :o been pricing flights to Manchester..but don't think i'll go until it gets a bit warmer. Hubby asked me this morning what i was going to do today..i said i was going to clean..decide what to make for dinner and walk 3 miles on my treadmill..he replied "is that all?" cheeky bug :censored: i should at least get the treadmill in..so i'm off

Yo!

OK, stayed OP with food yesterday and it feels good after a day of binging. Even got in some activity by shoveling -- we ended up with 23" of snow from the storm. Even though I do like to shovel, thank God for snowblowers!

Dahlia, I would say chasing a two year old around is plenty of activity points if you're doing WW. Is the one year old walking yet? Katie was just starting to walk but was holding on to furniture in the process at that age. Christopher, on the other hand, was zipping around at 9 months. Still a terror at 17 years!

I can't wait for grandbabies! My neice just had a little girl and I had so much fun shopping. They have so many neat things out now compared to when my kids were babies. BTW, Cathy, when was Olivia born? I can't wait to see a picture of her!

OK, fill me in, what is this TV show you guys are laughing about??

I have a bunch of things to get done on today's agenda -- package to send out from an eBay sale, filing to do for work, tons of laundry, a house to declutter. I can probably think of a zillion other things too but I'll start with those first. :dizzy:

Actually, priorities first -- my first cup of coffee which I can smell brewing upstairs -- Green Mountain Breakfast Blend -- :dancer: -- that should get me and my day off to a good start.

Enjoy, ladies, and I will check back in later!

OMG   i just wrote a really really long post and put in too many smileys and the damn thing was lost!!
Well..i'll see what i can remember  after a really good day OP yesterday i went and spoiled it by going down to the workshop (my ride on mower would'nt start and i'd just put a new battery on it) to get hubby to look at it..i packed a snack for hubby and some beers..seeing as the workshop is downhill it was quite a feat rolling down there trying to steer..hold a torch (it was almost dark) and packing a tote full of cold ones..once i'd cleaned up the plug and got 'her' going we drank some beer..on top of the lowfat brownies i baked and ate a few of i completely ruined my plan..i've had two this morning..they are so yummy wish i was one of those people that can eat just one of something but i'm not..i'm a :ink:
Terry..Olivia was born on 11th December..i tried to ring Jacqui this morning and again a few minutes ago but there is no answer so i'll have to write..i tried to look at that baby site that you mentioned..i put in Amelia's name to take a peek at her and it came up 'not found' :(
The program we are talking about is a Canadian one following a group of people on various weightloss programs..Shawna is on Jenny Craig and goes out on a bender regularly and say's :censored: the program..another guy is doing really really well on body for life..a really overweight guy is doing well..can't remember the program..a gay guy is doing o.k. too..one girl is on a high protein low fat program and has just found out that she is pregnant and she's just split from her partner :dz: Cathy is using a trainer and a nutritionist i think..she likes beer, vodka in health drinks..smoking and flirting with men! she is hilarious..these people are weirder than the Osbournes and funnier too.

Afternoon!

Poor Cathy -- I can just envision you riding down the hill -- I hope DH appreciates you! I see brownies are your nemesis -- cheese curls and licorice are mine. :ink: I just cannot stop with a few pieces. In fact, I am doomed even if I make eye contact in the grocery store. Serious!

Did you see how they have a new beer out -- it's light in calories and carbs and it's from Michelob -- I just cannot remember the name right now. I wonder how many WW points it would be?? If I was smart I'd look it up on their web site. I did see it in the store -- $6 for a six pack which I thought was on the expensive side.

Here's Amelia's website :

http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/a/ameliablake/

Olivia is about 3 weeks older -- I bet you can't wait to hold her! Speaking of babies, Pam, how's Mackenzie doing? I bet she's into all kinds of tricks now!

I figured it was a canadian show -- sounds interesting! Wish I had satellite tv at times like this ....

Well, I have been doing OK today with food. So far so good! Making a roast beef for dinner with mashed potatoes so I really have to behave. Portions are my downfall. Big time.

Got my filing done and wrapped my EBay package -- looks like a giant grinder. Why is everything food-related when you are hungry??!!!

My FIL makes oak things (paper towel holders, wall racks, toilet paper holders, lazy susans, etc) and I sell them on EBay for him. He's so funny though -- I sell one thing and he immediately makes ten more! He's 83 years old and it keeps him busy. He's a sweetie and has been very good to us. I also sell some fur animals when I get some in. It is so addictive but a lot of work.

OK, time to put the roast in the oven. Chris has a friend over (no school this week) and more kids are on the way over. Time for me to get out of Dodge.

Later gators!

Hi all,

Oy vey what a night last night! Got a migraine at work, came home, my best friend calls in tears as her and DH had a huge row and the baby was crying so I went over right away. It just breaks my heart. DH is being very pig headed and mean. Keep your fingers crossed.

Then after I got home there was a note on the door from DH to say he'd gone to the hospital because his Dad had been admitted again. This time it was fluid on the lungs but they've drained it and he's back home now this afternoon. Needless to say my headache hasn't gone away.

Terry, Makenzie will be one on Saturday already and is walking now and totally into everything. She's such a cutie! She's got the bluest eyes and this mop of gorgeous dark brown hair that is curling up now in ringlets in the back. I know she'll hate it growing up and thank her lucky starts for it when she's older. Isn't that always the way? When I get her birthday pics back I'll try and scan one in.

Well I guess I better go do something today that's productive. Am hoping this headache will bugger off soon.

Take care and hi to Grandma G, Dahlia, Karie (where are you?), Meg (How'd the interview go?) and everyone else.

Forgot to say..at the end of the show they all march out like they are in a police line up and the music goes Daaaaaa...da.da..da (it's the music from a cop show, dragnet or something)
Don't know if its this site or my connection but its been terrible posting on here today..when i click on something it's like waiting for a bus to come
Pam..glad that FIL is O.K. and hope the headache has finally buggered off ;) i had one all night in bed :headache: it could'nt have anything to do with the beer..could it? :chin:
I just looked at the pic's Terry..she is lovely :) my mower is still at the workshop so i'd better walk down there and see if 'she' can make it up the hill

A quickie (as in post :s: ) -- Pam, TLC tonight and I am also glad your FIL is home and better. What a day you had -- tomorrow's got to be better. And, Cat, thanks for the compliments on Amelia -- the bear is a gift from Russ (sheared beaver -- her first "fur!"). Hope the 'patient' is on the mend! Grandma, where art thou?! Hope you are having a great day Dahlia -- bet you spent the day resting after running after those grand babies. :) Off to Walmart to get some of their flavored "Clear America" water -- no calories, no carbs, no sugar, no fat, no sodium and it's good. Miracles!

Good evening Ladies,

Well, I survived the attack of grandbabies.. and Yes Cool Mom, the one year walks.. he has been walking since 9 months.. he also climbs on everything,, over anything and has no fear.... he never stops..

That sounds neat what you do on Ebay,, do you have a site you can direct us too. I'd love to see the items your fil makes.. I just won 4 auctions in 2 days on ebay.. filled in a collection of mine. Now I am all set for awhile..:)

I did good with my eating today,, to busy chasing babies around..and I am really pooped tonight,, going to go have a tall glass of water and go to bed...

Will check in before work if I have time in the morning.. have a good night everyone..

OK, women, up and attem!

Rochester had to "go" early this morning so I just stayed up and putzed around on the computer. BTW, Rochester is a dog in case y'll were wondering .... :dizzy:

Stayed within points last night but almost blew it at around 9pm because I was starving. Grabbed fat free saltines and cut up two slices of 2% American cheese for a snack instead of the chips, the cookies, the cashews and all the other snack food in the cabinet calling my name. I usually try not to eat that late at night but my stomach was growling.

Quiet evening watching Law & Order and then I finished my book -- Grisham's "The Summons" which was just OK. I usually like his books but this one didn't seem up to par. We also went to Walmart and I stocked up on flavored water as I am tryng to wean myself off of all the Diet Coke I drink -- I won't even confess how much because it's a lot! :^:

I bet everyone was looking at my basket and thinking I was buying my three days worth of goods for any terrorist attacks. I felt like wearing a sign that said "Diet Coke Addict Trying To Break Habit."

Dahlia, two babies walking -- no wonder you were pooped as I bet they were into everything.

Regarding eBay, I usually just sell my FIL's oak products, but don't have any listed at the moment because I just had a bunch of auctions close. I do have some fur teddy bears up for auction. Sales have been quiet and more and more people "snipe" -- myself included -- so they wait until the close of the auctions to bid. Makes sense to me! My user ID is: TrcJohnson%attbi.com (same as my email address). As I said, it's fun albeit time consuming, but I enjoy it.

Well, coffee should be brewed by now so time to get caffeinated and start my day.

I'll check back in later -- wake up, sleepyheads!!

I was a naughty cat again yesterday..went to pick up my mower..drove her up then got my camera's to take some pic's of what hubby is building (to send to our BIL) then i went back down to the workshop to drink some beer with hubby :o well..the sun was shining and i don't like sitting in the house on my own all the time :s: puny excuse i know but i'm sticking to it  i went down to fill up the woodstove first thing this morning..when i went out for some more wood before i knew it i'd thrown all the remaining wood nearer to the back door..completely re-stacked it..swept up all the wood bits and bark to make room to stack the new stuff then came in to make hubby's brekky..and i was still in my dressing gown  hubby was laughing..he said "you're particularly energetic this morning!" i turned around and said "its your turn now..all you have to do is reverse the truck in and start flinging"

Cool Mom
02-20-2003, 06:10 PM
Ooops -- should never post BEFORE my morning coffee!! Not only are you the energizer bunny, Cat, but you are also very observant first thing in the morning :) -- by the way how close are the neighbors or are they used to you doing all your chores in your nightgown?! I think DH should be taking pictures of you for us!

OK, where's Pam and the rest of the gang -- come out, come out where ever you are!

A lazy day today which means I have to make up for it tomorrow and get caught up on all the filing and store work I didn't get around to doing today. It was such a lazy day that I just got dressed. Actually, now that I think about it, I did wash the floors, clean the bathrooms and kitchen, declutter and do laundry -- how could I forget all that?? I just didn't get to anything I PLANNED to do!

Had a dickens of a time posting this afternoon -- couldn't pull up the site for some strange reason.

Time to figure out what to make for dinner -- mac and cheese or ham steaks. Probably do leftovers!

Off and running ... later gators!

Terry my neighbours would have to hike up a hill if they want to take a peek of me in my dressing gown :s:  if they did i'm sure they would have loved the one i was wearing yesterday..navy blue fleece covered with teddy bears wearing red bandana's  so cute ;) today i'm wearing my blue one covered in moons, suns and stars..not as cute..tomorrow it is Winnie the Pooh's turn in pink..really cute!
I am being so bad :o i have'nt exercised for 2 day's and i've been too lazy to make something "special" for my meals (yeh..like its special..i really mean low-cal  ) i've just been eating what i make for hubby...not diet friendly  but sooo gooood!
I had a lazy day yesterday too..the biggest thing i did was prepare dinner  the weather was quite nasty..windy and rainy so my plan to go shopping was scrapped..i stayed in online and watched the box.

Good Morning Ladies,

It's freezing here in Edmonton today...stupid wind chill factor again too. I hope it breaks soon. I can handle the snow but this minus 30 stuff is for the birds!

Father in law has been taken to the hospital again this morning with laboured breathing and wacky blood sugar levels. DH just called about 10:00 to tell me he was going to meet the paramedics there. I can't help but think he wasn't ready to be released the other day. Say a prayer won't you?

My friend and her DH aren't doing any better but he did come home last night but now she's not sure why. he's not even talking to her and didn't even kiss the baby when he came in. Her first birhtdya is today so I really hope he can pull his head out of his @ss to make it a special day for her. I'm not mad at him just so disappointed that he's handling things the way he is. I try not to worry but it's hard when it's people you love.

We had inventory last night and I did so good! I packed my own supper and turned down Chinese! Felt pretty good. I also did my 2 mile WATP tape this morning and a set of abs. (Terry I see what you mean about feeling it more with these tapes for some reason. Whoo).

Cat the picture of you in your dressing gown brought a smile to my face picturing you trudging back and forth.

Dahlia, sounds like you were one busy Grandma with the kiddies. Good for you...can't imagine how many acitvity points that earns. Good job.

Grandma G, how are you doing?

Meigg, still waiting on pins and needles to hear about the job interview.

Karie, where are you? Hope all is well for you and DP in Cowtown. Is it really cold there too?

Terry, great job on the saltines and cheese. It's hard to make a good choice when faced with so many other enticing ones :)

Well off to hit the shower and start the day. The dogs are awfully quiet so I best see what trouble they've gotten themselves into.

I'll check back later,

Pam

Ok, you guys, Nanuck of the North (aka The Cat) is stacking wood in her nightgown (she's one sexy Winnie The Pooh!) and Lady Edmonton is walking her way across Canada to keep warm -- can't just sit idle SO...........

I did my 2-mile WATP to the beat of Dirty Boogie and I is dripping in sweat .... yuck!

Thanks for getting me off my duff! :cb:

Hey, what are friends for, right?!

Speaking of friends, I loved :) that email Cathy but didn't get any audio -- it was super without it too. How true!:spin:

Geeze, Pam, it sounds like they may have released your FIL a bit too soon. I was sorry to hear he was back in the hospital; please keep us informed. And, I am assuming your talking about little Mackenzie's dad -- I hope he has a change of heart and not spoil her party. They pick up on so many things even at that age.

I indulged in some unauthorized snacks last night (you know how it is when you allo stress to rule your eating) but feel great knowing that I am back on track today.

Nothing much planned -- except a shower of course :smug: -- and some college basketball. I do have store work to do but it can wait -- just have to be extra busy Monday.

I will check back in later -- thanks again for the motivation :)

Beebusters!!!!

Don't look at me, hate bees :o ! But, just remember, some bees have memories and if you attempt to murder one and it escapes, it will be back with a vengeance. Seriously! :faint:

And, ya just never know when the animal rights activists will be at your door, Cathy -- bees have rights too. Remember, a bee is a dog is a boy according to them.

Great job on 4 miles -- you just had to out do me didn't ya?! Only kidding -- proud of you!

I hate it when Russ is home as I feel like he is invading my "space" -- after he kills the bee (and make sure all the relatives of that bee know who the murderer was!) send him back to the work shed :) -- better than the dog house I guess!

Getting ready to go out to eat once my man returns home from work -- French onion soup and some wine. There's a restaurant close by and it's very relaxing -- you know everybody and they know you type of place.

Cheers!

See you guys in the AM!

Happy Sunday -- rise and shine! Well, "rise" is good enough, we can all work on the "shine" part AFTER morning coffee. :) Had onion soup, some bread with very little butter and wine with dinner last night -- indulged in a cookie when I got home and a half of breadstick. Could have done better but I did eat light prior to dinner. I just wish I didn't like going out to eat that much.

It's another dreary, rainy day here and everyone is still asleep except for me and the cats. They get all excited when mommy is up -- they think playtime. All three ate sitting here staring at me wondering why I am not in play mode. What a household!

OK, off to play some Scrabble, some solitaire and check email and journal my coffee over at Weight Watchers.

Adios!

Good morning Ladies,

Today is my birthday:hb: :hat: :gift: :cb:  I am having a tea party for myself, I have invited 7 women friends over. For lunch we are having a creamy cashew chicken salad, cucumber sandwiches, deviled eggs, grapes, and cake and ice cream... Now I know that is not a very good meal for a diet... but it is my birthday... I am 53 today.. and I decided I am going to enjoy every bit of life I can... .but tomorrow I am also going to go back to my better way of eating.. because before my next birthday I would like to be healthier and thinner.. that is my BIG WISH of the day...:goodvibes

It is only 16 degrees out, and very windy. But at least the sun is trying to shine. Spring is not that far away.

Terry, I know exactly what you are saying about having dh around and getting things done.. and I also agree about the bees, I didn't know they had a memory of who is trying to kill them... guess that just means you better succeed in your attempt or they will come after you...:bomb: I am allergic to bees, the last sting I got landed me in the hospital and they said each one gets worse... so next time it could be me or it...

Hope you all have a great day. I'm off to my party... I am using my finest china, have a tea set to match..my gold table ware. My best linen table cloth..pulled out all the stops.. no point in having these nice things if I don't use them.... right? right...

I re-potted 30 tomato plants this morning i'm going to keep a couple in the house and then i can pull them straight from the plant when hubby wants them..i'm going to start some 'Dusty Miller' too..the deer don't like them..they're not pretty but will fill up some space...it's another gorgeous day here so i'm off to exercise and then enjoy it.

Hi Everyone,

Just popping in to wish Dahlia a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY:gift: My wish for you is that you have the very best of days and get every thing you want for your special day. Don't have any guilt about what you eat at the party, just enjoy the treat and the company of good friends then get back on plan tomorrow!

Pam, I hope Mackenzie has a happy birthday too. And that her whole family and you enjoy her day with her!:hat:

I haven't been posting because I haven't been feeling well, I don't know if it was just a cold or some type of flu. But I am feeling better now. We got up this morning to an ice storm. Actually it has been a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain over the last couple of days. Last night we even had thunder and lightning! At least the temperature was a little better for a while, but now it is clearing and the temperature is going down again! I hope it doesn't go too far!

I haven't been exercising much for the last couple of weeks, but today I decided to get back with the program so after church I walked on the treadmill. I did a mile and a half. :cb: :cb: And I am doing well with my eating. I hope that pesky scale will finally get moving - I think it is stuck in place:?:

Hi to Terry, Karie, Cat and anyone else I missed:wave: I hope everyone has an op day tomorrow. Goodnight all!

Good morning ladies,
Just wanted to say Grandma G..glad you are feeling better. There has been a flu going around here too.. nasty things. But good to know you are back on the road to health and fitness. You do so well on your treadmill...do you do anything while you are walking on it, like music or tv?

Even with all the goodies I ate yesterday I woke up to a 2 pound loss.. so I am all revved up to get under way with my plan again.
We are taking our son for his final check up out of town today, then he plans on heading back to his own place tomorrow..:( good and bad... I will miss him, but glad he is well enough to get on with his life.

Pam. that is so neat, your niece and I share a birthday. Hope her's was as much fun as mine was..did she get to eat her cake and ice cream herself...? my grandson who is just 1 loves to feed himself.. he gets so full of it .it is precious..

Well, have to get ready to leave. Hope everyone has a great OP day and will check in this evening.

Dahlia
thanks for all the birthday wishes... :)

Grandma..so glad you are feeling better and nice to have you back :D i was a naughty cat last week and missed 3 treadmill sessions :( but i've done 4 miles the last 2 days to make up for it a bit :)
Dahlia..Congratulations on the 2lbs loss :cp:
I'm just gonna stack some firewood and make hubby's brekky so i'll keep this short..will pop back later to see how you are all doing

A quick one to say hello and then I have to race around the house at warp speed because I have spent way too much time on the computer and EBay this morning. I can't believe it is noon and I have so much to do including some store work that I took home.

Yikes!

Dahlia, so happy to hear that you had a wonderful birthday tea and a 2 pound loss -- what a birthday present that was!!! And, what great motivation to begin your week.

Hey Grandma! So sorry to hear that you were not feeling well, but glad that you are on the mend. There are so many nasty little bugs going around all over. You must be feeling better if you treadmilled! Lots of TLC so you don't relapse because some of those bugs are persistant little critters and just don't want to go away.

Morning, Cathy! Just how much firewood do you stack -- sounds like cords and cords -- or are you just restacking the same cord to get all the activity points that you can?! Teach that hubby of yours to cook his own breakfast! Only kidding of course .... :) :)

Well, I had better get organized if anything is going to be accomplished today. I'll be back later as well.

Take care ladies!

Hi everyone! I have been away, but have been able to lurk from time to time. All this talk of babies! How wonderful!

Interviews went well...now the waiting game begins. I actually broke down and cried to my boss today at work because I have NOTHING to do. I told him how guilty I feel. We brainstormed a few things for me to do, but I am not going to lie - it is busy work.

And - TA-DA! I was holding strong for a few weeks with no loss, and then out of nowhere I finally dropped a few pounds! Lowest I have weighed to date: 176.5!!!!

Pam - hope your FIL and friend are doing better!

Oh, my goodness...there are so many posts to catch up to, and no time! I have to get to the bank before it closes.

I promise to check in more frequently. It is TOO hard to catch up!

Another day, another dollar :) as they say ......

Worked like the dickens yesterday cleaning this house and I peeked at the scale and it looks like it is slowly moving down. Official weigh-in isn't until Friday. I knew I was getting some activity points in yesterday because I was like a human whirlwind racing through the house :dizzy: . Today I have tons of store work to get done because I didn't touch anything yesterday.

Stayed OP with food too but it was a struggle. I was hungry at 8pm last night and bypassed the cupcakes and had some fat free saltines. Believe me, not the same! :^:

Hey, Meig, good to see you again! Excellent job on the weight loss -- doesn't it feel good to know that you are accomplishing your goal?:bravo: Sorry to hear that work is not going well. I wish you much success on your job search though, and I'll keep fingers and toes crossed for ya.

Cathy, Pam, Grandma and Dahlia -- good morning!

OK, off to get cup of coffee #2 ... have a great day!

Terry - thanks for the kind thoughts. It is nice to finally have a way of eating work after all that I have been thru!

It is COLD here today. It makes the walk to the bus miserable. Anyway, I still have some busy-work to do at work, so I am actually in a good mood for a change!

Need to grab a hot cup of coffee and go!

Hi to Pam, Grandma G, Dahlia, & Cathy ;)

Talk to you later!

Good Morning All,

Girls I'm so sad and frustrated today and just feeling yuck! FIL went back into the hospital at 9:00 p.m. last night...he was so blue and said he was so cold. His breathing was very laboured again and his heartbeat was irregular. At least they kept in this time. We had a bit of a go around with Homecare yesterday because his blood sugar levels were so high again and they wanted us to tell them what to do! My DH said "I'm not in the medical profession, you are, you decide!" I just get so frustrated with them. I know they are trying to help but there answer is to take him to ER and we said we've taken him twice already and they just send him home. Hopefully G-d will do what he needs to do. DH had to have the do not resucitate conversation with the Doctor again last night. There were no phone calls so at least we're comforted by that fact. DH will be going in soon to see how he's doing. I just get so sad.

Sorry to be such a bummer. I'll pop back in when I'm a bit happier.

Love you guys,

Pam

Pam, I know it's frustrating, but you and Erwin are doing everything right with your FIL. Sometimes we need to hang tough with the doctors because we know our loved ones better than they do and we know what is "normal" for them and what isn't. If they kept him overnight then perhaps this morning you will have a better feel about what is going on with him and then you can proceed from there. Take it one day and one decision at a time. I know it's not easy, and you do need to talk about your feelings -- we are here for you because it's more than a weight loss thread. If you keep everything bottled up, you won't be any good to your FIL, yourself or Erwin either. Let us know how he is today. Hugs ...

Meig, you sound so much perkier and that's a great way to start your day. What type of "diet" plan are you following -- I've been gone so long from this board, that I need to catch up! I have a friend from another board (Pam, Nancy) that works at the Merc in Chicago -- she's complaining about the cold too!

Grandma, feeling better today??

OK, Dahlia and Cathy - up and at'em!

Time to start my filing -- oh joy. :p

I'm Here...just 'fed' hubby  he will be out the door soon :cp: so its 'my' time then :s: he came up with another load of firewood in the truck last night and the wheelbarrow so i can run over to the house with it  thoughtful is'nt he? at least i'm getting plenty of exercise! Terry..no..it is'nt the same cord that i'm re-stacking..cheeky   and hardly any of it is for burning now  its this winters stock! Firewood..firewood everywhere but not a stick to burn!!! I took some pictures of it yesterday to show you what i have to do around here..but the program kept crashing...btw..i scored 43 on the test..i thought "uh-oh..what a lousy score" thinking that the higher the number the better..glad i was wrong.
Pam..what a mess..how can they treat your FIL like that? shuttling him around..he does'nt sound well at all..poor man..i hope you have better news today :) i was watching the news last night and they are changing the Pharmacare system which will make it even worse for old people to afford their medications, it makes me sick.
Meg..congrats on the weightloss..i'm glad that Atkins is working for you.

Good morning ladies,

I have to ask you all a guestion.. and see if I am alone in how I feel. In our family, we always remember birthdays, have parties, etc. and I always make sure I remember my children, including their wives... in fact this past year I even sent a package all the way to Okinawa for my dil'b b/d as she is in the marines and stationed there right now... and my other married son, well I am always babysitting for them, and doing little things to help out, giving them things I know they need etc. you know the usual mother stuff we do.. Well dh had a b/d the first of feb. and son #3 called me to go shopping and in on a gift with him for his dad..so I did.. well as you know my b/d was last sunday.. and I invited them over for cake and ice cream, I love to watch my 1 yr. old grandson eat that.. he loves it so much..:)anyway. they come over and as I am picking up behind the little ones, I find a b/d card sitting on the table by the door... I received nothing from them and they didn't even hand me the card... I feel so insulted and hurt that they seem to care so little for my feelings... and my son #2, with the wife in OKI.. all I got from him was a phone call on sunday after his father reminded him on sat. How would you ladies feel..?
NOw on their birthdays, they will be expecting the usual card and gift... is it me or is this not right? My other 3 sons cannot believe their brothers slighted me so badly.. we can't figure it out.

well, off to work, you ladies all have an op day.. it is 9 degrees here and cold... but the sun is coming out so it will be warm in the greenhouse..

Dahlia
we are doing double petunias today,, we got our pansies all planted, so their cute little faces can appear anytime now..:)

Cool Mom
02-26-2003, 10:34 AM
I am freezing too this morning, Dahlia -- can I come and plant with you in your nice warm greenhouse?! :) Time to crank up the thermostat I think!

I have two children entirely different -- one I call the "Queen of Cards" because she always remembers to send cards for every occasion and always writes thank you notes. Now, the other is my son, and granted he's only 17, and still in training, but I have to remind him all the time to write that thank you note or remember a birthday.

IMHO, I wouldn't stress too much about it as long as you are secure in their love and affection. You can always say something to them -- are they the type that would take it, or are they the type that would hold it against you? And, is it worth rocking the boat so to speak?

I must admit I stopped sending presents to my best friend's married daughter and her child because she never acknowledges anything -- I never see them either so I can afford to "rock the boat" in this situation!

I know where you are coming from though, and I have felt the same way when Chris "forgets." That old adage to "pick your battles" wisely comes to mind -- good luck on your decision.

It seems to me as an "outsider" that you have a great family -- too bad we can't mold our kids to our liking. Boy, would we moms have a field day if we could. :) And, if we had the power to do that -- look out, husbands. :smug:

I hope what I said comes across in a positive light because I meant it as such ....

I wonder how Pam's FIL is??

Tired today and no energy to do much of anything -- unfortunately, I need to push myself because I need to get caught up on store work because I go back to work Monday and want this all finisehd by then.

Yikes! I "snacked" on cold pasta last night -- not much but I didn't have any points left. I did get in a two mile WATP tape. Oh well, another day today!

OK, everyone, have a wonderful "hump day" -- the weekend's almost here!

Terry :)

Good morning ladies,

Dahlia, I understand your feelings but agree with Terry about whether or not it's even worth saying anything. I don't blame you a bit for feeling taken advantage of as I'd feel the same way. Perhaps just send a card this year and not a present? Just my opinion. I know you'll do what you feel is best.

Terry, good job on the WATP tape. You are doing so well. I am so proud of you.

My FIL is doing better although they did admit him yesterday (after he'd been in ER for 17 hours) but at least he's where he'll be monitored. They haven't ruled out a heart attack yet but they are stumped as to what is the problem. His lungs sound clear yet his breathing sounds so terrible. He's also agitated and confused which isn't helping matters either. Hopefully today he'll be more settled.

Life in general otherwise is going alright. I've been good with food since Monday so I'm happy...am on schedule with my workout ..got my homework done last night so am on track this week for a change. Year end is looming here soon for work and those of you who have been posting here awhile know how crazy that makes me :)

I'll check back in later...Hi to Cathy...holy smokes girls that is a lot of wood! Definite workout there!

Grandma G, Karie, Meigg, and all others a big Hi to you and hopes that things are going well.

I went out yesterday so i did'nt get the rest of the wood stacked so that will be my 'chore' for today..Terry..you think i'm 'STACKED'
do you?...thanks for the compliment :joker:
Pam..good news about FIL :)
Dahlia..i don't think that your sons mean to be 'mean' i just think that they think 'oh..it's just mum..she does'nt need anything, she's knows that we love her' are they embarrassed about showing you affection? were they always like this or is it since they left home? my kids are just the same..i send them birthday and christmas gifts half way across the world and never receive a card..i would love to get one but i never do but i know that they both love me lots :D they just can't be bothered or don't get around to it  don't let it spoil what was otherwise a great day!
Time to get grilling here..hubby is waiting patiently for his 'fry-up

Hi guys!

Dahlia - my family suffers from kind of the same problem. My husband insists on picking out and sending gifts to his family for xmas. Last year I found what he had picked out in the storage locker 8 months after xmas. This year he didn't ship anything until February when I pressed the issue.

My mom's bday is January 11th. For the past 10 years my parents have always been away on her birthday. My dad has always had to call us and leave a message reminding us to call her.

My sister's in-laws are perhaps the MOST HORRIBLE gift givers of all times. They gave my niece a top from the gap that didn't fit. When she went to exchange it for a bigger size she saw it had been in a mark-down bin for like $6. My sister had gone out of her way to select really nice gifts for everyone that year, spent more than she should have, and really felt sort of shafted.

My point is (and I have one somewhere :dizzy:) is that not everyone gives the same way. My sister and I have decided that we like giving. We love holidays and making a big deal of them - whether it is e-cards for April Fools Day or handmade gifts for xmas. And we have decided that we will expect nothing in return and be fine with it. If we get something in return, it is a total bonus. Maybe this is something you would wanna give a thought to.

The other thing you might do is have your husband call and tell your sons that "mom was a little down on her birthday, she doesn't feel like anyone really remembered..." I have gotten calls like that on MANY occassions from my dad, and my mom doesn't know about them. He even paid for a 70th surprise party for my mom (thrown by me and my siblings) because she was jealous that we had thrown him one!

Anyway, I hope your day was not ruined, and SORRY FOR THE LONG POST!

Meg

Dahlia

Thank you all for your thoughts.. but you aren't getting the gist of it...my son is a fanatic about holidays and events.. he loves to give gifts and surprises, he always make a big deal out of everything... and it isnt' that they forgot, I told my dil last wednesday when she picked up the babies that I had watched for two days and a night while they went to a concert in Detroit, that they were invited over sunday for cake for my b/d. And my son called that afternoon from work and said he was taking off work an hour early so he could go home and clean up so they could come over earlier in the evening. When they got here my dil was telling me all about the neat things she bought that afternoon when her and the children had been out shopping.. that was when they got my card... oh well, I will just forget it.. but it the first time they've done that... they have always given things before.. and just did to his dad 3 wks ago... it is so puzzling to me.. it's not the gift or lack of,, its the consideration of my feelings.. that hurts...

enough said..I'll get over it.and not say anything for now.. to them.. but the ache is still there. I've decided I know what to say to them if it comes up..". you can always find excuses but if you care enough ,you find time to show it". I guess maybe I just care to much, and I'll have to start getting to be as cold as they are to me.

thanks for letting me use you as my sounding board ...
as for my eating plan am doing good so far, getting more walking in at work. Just need to keep at it.

Pam, I am sorry to hear your fil is not doing well. Hope he is better soon.

Cathy, you are a busy beaver with all that wood stacking.. I can feel for you, we used to heat with wood and had to throw it in and stack it down in our basement... thank goodness I had boys to help... but I also grew up doing wood, and vowed I'd never do it again... well now we have natural gas and I'd never go back..
but enjoy it.. it is good exercise and a great feeling of accomplishment when you are done and see the nice stacks... also nice to see when its cold out and you want warmth..:)

Meigg
02-27-2003, 11:22 AM
Dahlia - I think it is good that you have figured out something to say. And you know if it still hurts, why not just call and say it? Let them know. I bet you would feel better, and it probably wouldn't happen again because they would know how you feel.

Things are going really well with my atkins plan. I put on a jeans skirt this morning that I bought with my xmas bonus, and it is WAY too big! I am so excited. I also think I might be ready to move back to my smaller belts!

Let's all have an OP day!

Dahlia..i'm not surprised that you are upset after they'd got your hopes up by telling you what nice things they had bought while they were out  i can't believe that they would treat you like this after you were so good to babysit for them so that they could go to a concert :dizzy: talk about ungrateful.
You know i don't mind doing firewood one bit..like you said its great exercise..i took my radio out with me and had the music blasting and i sang my little heart out as i 'flung' the wood outta the truck  we also have propane and electric baseboard heaters but we burn wood because its free :s:

Meg..does'nt that feel good when your clothes get big :cp: you go girl!

Well, i've no more wood to stack so its the house's turn today..i'm gonna do some carpet shampoo-ing and some venetian blind cleaning :p i hate doing them but its down to me so i'd better get on with it..when hubby saw that i'd done all the firewood he said to me "Hmmm...i'd better get some more cut for you" :dz:

Morning!

I did my WATP 3 mile tape two days in a row and my thighs are killing me -- down two pounds this week so it's a "good kill." Since my recommitment on 1-26-03, I am down 10.5 pounds. Tough work, ladies. If I had known how hard this was going to be as I got older, I never would have allowed myself to gain all the weight back after making WW Lifetime many years ago. Honest! Something to remember in the coming years.

Dahlia, after explaining it more fully, I think the kids need a loving reality check from their mom -- it's not the gift, it's just the thought. When you are ready and in your own way -- sometimes it doesn't even have to be with words either.

Meig, awesome on the inches lost and may you continue on track!!

The visual of you stacking wood, Cathy, and singing away is a fun one -- got to find some pleasure in everything we do. Life's too short not too!

Tired this morning -- may be a three cups of coffee day (usually it's just two)!

Hope all is well, Pam and Grandma :)

Yep, definitely going to get more caffeine ... be back later!

Things are still going well with me. I haven't heard about the job. I was hoping I would hear even if it was a no, but I guess not. I totally wasted a vacation day also. Bummer. But I wouldn't have even had a chance if I didn't.

Meigg,

I am doing "Walk Away the Pounds" (WATP) with Leslie Sansone and I love it -- better workout than with my treadmill because I feel it so much more. Here's her web site: www.lesliesansone.com.

I got my tapes at Best Buys (two DVDs -- 1, 2 and 3 miles) for $20. You can also try eBay.

Have to run -- Chris wants the computer -- be back soon!

Cool Mom
02-28-2003, 11:55 AM
OK, I'm back ...

What I like most about WATP is that they are not "dancey" and you don't need a lot of space. She basically has 4 main moves -- walking in place, side step, knee lifts and kicks -- and her routine is simple and based on just those four movements.

She combines an upper body workout into the routine by using
weighted 2-lb balls -- I use wrist weights rolled up into a ball. I do get tired of her chatter, so I mute the volume and put on a fast moving CD -- I love Brian Setzer's Dirty Boogie. Crank the volume and you're off!

It's low impact but I do sweat -- I up it a bit by jogging in place quite a bit. Pam is doing the same thing too.

It's fun and that's what it should be if you are going to stick with an exercise routine.

OK, back to work I go!!

Meg..you never know the job may still be available..you could still be in the running :D
I had my first reasonable day (foodwise) for quite some time, 969 cals and 26g fat...mainly due to the fact that i was out shopping and the fridge was not at hand...Saturday to Wednesday's totals were terrible..i had a whopping 3309 cals and 127g fat last saturday so no wonder i'm not making any progress..i think i've averaged at about 2500cals and 60g fat..way too much! so i'm going to track everything faithfully this week...i can't believe how everything adds up so fast and yet in my mind although i knew i had'nt been 'dieting' i had no idea that i was eating that amount of food..it is so easy to let things slide..a chocolate bar and a few beers are'nt going to hurt..right? WRONG! it's those sneaky beers i've got to watch..i think i'll contact the other Cathy from "Taking it Off" and see how she is doing..LOL

Cathy and Meig, thanks for the motivation!

Did you know that a Awesome Blossum with dipping sauce from Chillis (those deep fried whole breaded onions) is 2,882 calories and 222 grams of fat (77 WW points)??!! And, the chicken sandwich that I love at Burger King is 710 calories and 43 grams of fat -- without the extra cheese that I usually get!

These are things that I would order EVERY time -- it's just amazing how many calories and fat grams you consume without being conscious of it.

You're so right Cathy -- you don't even realize how it all adds up which is why I NEED to journal everything I eat.

It's just not fair that all the good things are so high in fat!!

Ooops -- gotta run -- be back later!

Good morning ladies,

Just a quickie to pop in and say hi. Everything here is alright. They diagnosed Erwin's Dad with pneumonia so at least we know what the problem is now. he's still in the hospital but hopefully will be released in the next few days barring no further complications.

spent all night helping my sister clean out her old apartment. She's kind of funny...told me it'd be an hour two at the most..however she didn't remember that the oven had to cleaned and I don't think they've ever cleaned up a spill in that thing. OMG it was a tremendous effort to scrub all the burners and stuff. Holy cow! Took me an hour just to do that. I was teasing her about the face that she must never use it if she doesn't remember it needs to be cleaned once in awhile. Oh well...we must have done a good job because she got her full damage deposit back.

I'm going to try the 3 mile tape today Terry so I'll let you know later what I think about it. Then it's time for some homework. Yay.

Have a great day ladies and I'll check back later tonight.

Love to ya all,

Pam..i'm glad that FIL is getting some proper medical attention :D at last  i see that your sister gave you the dirty job  she must really be a novice
Today is my 'official' weigh-in since the V-day challenge and i'm down another 4lbs :) its a miracle because i've been really bad apart from the last two days and even on those i did'nt exercise. I'm hoping this loss will give me the incentive i need to do better :D

Good Morning All,

Relatively quiet day planned here today. Grocery shopping and then meeting my friend for lunch. Talk about inspiration! That girl weighed in on Thursday at WW and has lost.....(drumroll sounding) 100 lbs.!!! She looks fantastic and isn't done yet. I met her through another WW board and found out we lived in the same city. Kind of cool.

I'm trying to get my school work done this week. I'm down to two chapter, one assignment and then the final. I need to get more focused with it and get it done. I want to leave myself 3 weeks for studying but I'm starting to slack off because I know I'm getting to the end so I've had the stern talk with myself.

I took my measurements yesterday and since November I've lost another 3/4" off my hips and a half inch off my thighs. Life is good. I've only lost two pounds since then but as long as my measurements keep improving then I'm a happy camper. I've never done this well at improving my lifestyle and body shape ever.

Okay enough of my novel here....have a great OP day ladies and I'll talk to you soon.

Oh yeah, Terry, that 3 mile tape was a killer! Holy smokes were my legs rubbery after that. Pretty challenging.

Talk to you later,

Pam

Pam..100lbs is some achievement :cp: i post on UK fat chicks and one woman on there has lost 190lbs :yikes: her pictures are inspirational..she looks great too and i'm sure it has made a huge difference to her life :D
I have'nt exercised since last tuesday and i only walked 2 miles then :( hopefully i'll fit some in today..i'm getting more on track foodwise apart from yesterday (which i knew would be an off day :s: because i planned to have some beers) anyway, my stepson and two of his friends came around and we ended up having a real good booze up and some laughs  i'm not worried about it because that is my plan..i'm going to be lenient with myself at the weekends..i did this the last time i lost weight and it worked then so hopefully it will work now :D

Morning Ladies :)

Pam, as Cathy said, it's good that your FIL is finally getting the proper attention, and I wish him a speedy recovery too. And, I think your sister conned you into cleaning her oven :D -- got some activity points in with all that scrubbing!

All is well. Not a great weekend food-wise but I did do WATP on Saturday -- five days in a row. I plan on giving myself Sundays off. Yes, siree, Pam, the 3 miles is a killer! I bought WATP for Abs at Walmart Saturday for $29.99 (1,2 & 3 miles with the Ab belt on DVD) which was a good buy because I also saw it advertised for $39.99 somewhere else. I am anxious to try it today.

Cathy, I tend to relax on weekends too (food wise) and because my weigh-in isn't until Friday, that gives me five days to really concentrate on making a positive difference at the scale. Just knowing that I can ease up on counting points, psychologically keeps me from binging out. Sounds strange I know .... but any modification with eating has to last a lifetime and I have to be comfortable with whatever way I choose to do that. I hope that makes sense! :^:

Wow, to loose over 100 lbs is a remarkable achievement -- I love reading and hearing about success stories as it keeps me motivated. Sometimes I just cruise other web sites and scan other people's successes to keep that spark going.

Katie and Stu popped in for a few hours yesterday before driving back to New Hampshire and she was all nice and tan from her trip to Florida. She took dozens of digitals -- it ws fun to see her and it just made me realize how much I really do miss her. Hopefully, she'll be home for a few days when they have April vacation.

Cathy, funny how you mentioned your stepson, for whatever reason, I was thinking about him during one of your posts last week. I remembered when he moved out -- you painted his room quick so he wouldn't change his mind! You sound like you have a great relationship with him -- good for you!

I bought some new vitamins for weight loss -- One A Day brand -- and whether they work or not on weight, I felt really energetic yesterday. And, that was after the night before and all the wine Russ and I had a dinner :smug: -- I am usually not that energized the day after!

I didn't get around to posting yesterday -- Chris was hoging the computer. I can't wait to get him his own laptop for college next year, then I won't have to share. Get him his own internet connection -- I'll have it made!

Well, filing and more filing is on the agenda for today. Freezing out with wind chills below zero -- I have not seen it this windy all winter. This is like the winter that will not go away.

Time to get coffee #2 here ... I'll check back in later.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Always, Terry :)

Terry..what is the WATP's Ab Belt? what is the difference between that and the other ones? just being a :nose: :moo:
I thought it was extremely quiet yesterday..where is everyone else too :?: i spent another day talking to myself  Have you looked at Posy's (Ali) pic's Terry? she is the one on UK fat chicks that has lost 193lbs..there is one of her sat on a chair with a huge plate of veggies..i've never seen a plate so big! she posted it to show us how much she eats and why she is never hungry..her husband even offers to help carry the plate
Well..my overindulgence over the weekend amounted to about 2000 cals on both days..i've already planned todays menu and that will account for 1100 cals and 19g fat but i'll probably up that a bit because the chicken i was going to have for dinner had been in the fridge for a few day's so i decided to throw it out :fr: better to be safe than sorry and i don't want to be :p ill. I'm also having delicious full fat ice cream for dessert after dinner too :T Safeway's Gold n Nut (icecream with caramel swirl..choc chips and nuts) deeeelicious!!!
The sun is shining here..lovely..it won't last tho'..i think it clouds over again on wednesday.
I got some really bad news today  my ex-husband died this morning..i feel so sad..he was only 51..you just never know how long you have got..do you? it makes me realise what a trivial thing letting my weight get out of control is.

Cathy, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your ex. What a sad day for you, and what an emotional one as I would assume you are reliving many memories, good and bad. We never know when our time is up here; however, it certainly does make us want to "stop and smell the roses" more often doesn't it. An old cliche, but so true at times as these. Was he Olivia's grandfather? It's never easy when someone we know passes away -- makes you appreciate those around you so much more though. Hugs, girlfriend ....

Walk Away The Pounds For Abs uses some type of Ab belt contraption with elastic hand band attachments (weird looking) for an upper body work out. I have not tried it yet, but she does the 1 mile program in 15 minutes compared to 18 minutes on the other tape that I have. If I am assuming correctly, it's more intense. I wanted some other programs to mix up my routine so I don't get bored. I'll let you know more about it once I give it a whirl this afternoon. The other programs I have of her's use 2-lb weighted balls which I substitute with 2 lb velcro wrist weights rolled in a ball so that I hold them rather than wear them. I have heard that vegetable cans can be used as well. The klutx that I am, I'd probably let them fly through the window!

And, no you are not being nosey -- I think you know me better than that! Ask any question that you like! :D

I'll have to check out your friend' s pictures -- awesome inspiration.

Darn dogs are barking like crazy -- let me go and bring them in before the neighbors complain -- not that they ever do but there is always the first time! Still freezing but the wind has died down -- I'll be back later this afternoon -- have to get some chores done too.

Again, I am sorry about your ex ....

Always, Terry

Morning All,

Cathy I was so sorry to read of the passing of your Ex husband. Ex or not it is a painful thing to deal with. As Terry said there were lots of happy memories mixed in with the sadness. Hugs to you friend.

Good Morning Miss Terry my little WATP Queen! 5 days in a row?? You rock! I agree that weekends are my general time for lightening up on my counting too as it just feels like it's too much sometimes. Lifestyle changes are the key to this. I often ask before starting something new if it's something I will do for the next 30 years. Helps to keep it in perspective for me.

On a sad note, we heard from the Dr.'s yesterday and although there is no time frame they seem to feel Dad might not come out of the hospital. His heart is getting weaker and he's still so confused. They seem to think this trend from before Christmas is the beginning of the end. We've thought that for awhile but to actually have someone from the medical profession say that definitely knocks the wind out of your sales. DH and I both had a bit of a cry yesterday as it's just so sad and scary to deal with. I know it's not going to happen tomorrow but still trying to comprehend the eventuality of it makes my heart and head feel very heavy today. I've been encouraging Erwin to talk with me about he's feeling so that he doesn't keep it all bottled up and so far he's been okay. Send him cyber hugs kay?

Ok enough of me being doom and gloom. Let's all focus on the present and the gifts we have in this life of ours and I'll check back in later.

Love to all,

Pam

Pam and Terry thank you so much for the kind words :) i was'nt going to mention it but i'm glad i did now instead of bottling it up.
Pam i know what you are going through :( a few weeks ago when Jim (my ex) was in hospital it was looking bad then and then they sent him home so we all thought he was going to be O.K. it was quite a shock getting that phone call first thing this morning..i just feel so helpless not being there for the kids..my ex BIL is doing everything possible tho' thank God..yes Terry Jim was Olivia's Grandfather..how sad that he never even got to see her  nobody has been able to contact Jacqui yet so she does'nt even know that her father has died...i've been trying her number for the past week without success :( what a mess and the worsed thing about it is that he did'nt leave a will so i'm not sure what will happen with the house...and there is a evil ex-wife on the horizon..she has 2 children with Jim too and i'm sure she will want her pound of flesh even though our home is nothing to do with her it is what Jim and I accumulated together..i will be furious if the house has to be sold..i just feel like jumping on a plane (and you know how much i hate that) and going back home.

Terry..i know what that belt is now i've seen some other fitness guru using one..can't remember who :?: maybe Richard Simmons.

Well, time for me to exercise..i don't really feel like it but it may make me feel better

My goodness, Pam and Cathy -- what a sad day for you two.

It's good that you both don't keep it all bottled up because talking about it helps put everything in the right perspective, and once done, it's easier to deal with all the decisions that need to be made.

Pam, Erwin will talk more once he digests what is happening with his dad. He couldn't ask for a better soul mate than you at his side. I can empathise because I went through the same thing with my dad -- you hear the news, but then there's always that little voice in the back of your head hoping for miracles. Sometimes they do occur, but it's tough.

Cathy, poor Jacqui, I hope she hears the news from family. I feel sorry for Olivia too because grandpas are very special. I also hope everything will work out with the evil ex wife -- for Jacqui's sake anyway. I am sure you will keep all eyes open even from afar.

Keeping busy will make you feel better, Cathy, so get those endorphins in motion with exercise. It must be so hard because of the distance. And, Pam, take it one day at a time ... that's all you can do at this point.

Well ladies looks like a group hug is in store :grouphug: ...

Darn dogs are back barking AGAIN .... anyone want another pup????

Love, Terry

Hello ladies,

Pam and Cathy so sorry to hear your sad news.. Pam I know what you mean.. when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and we were told it was terminal within weeks, I was in denial the whole time.. :grouphug: this is definitely called for..

We had some sad news also, we had just heard this past week that my dh's cousin had cancer. Then on Friday we heard he had heart problems and had to have emergency surgery, they lost him on the table. The funeral is wed. and both my dh and ds#1 are going to be pall bearers. Then on Sunday a good friend of mine called, she lost her mother last friday of a heart attack. This is just not a good time of year, it seems..

This just shows us all that we have to live for today and treasure each moment and each of our loved ones while we have them.

I have started today on a new plan. So far so good. With lent starting on wed. I am going to take this time to get myself in motion.. and if I don't lose something by Easter then I'll have to revamp it again. I am getting more exercise with working everyday, and am going to really make an effort at it.. I told them at work about my new plan so they will not sabotage me by bringing goodies etc. they have decided to use this time as well.

So  goes out to all of you who have had such a sad time.
Stay strong, but  and let your emotions out,, we can't bottle them up and turn to food..

Good Morning all,

Dahlia, a big hug to you too! All of this truly does reinforce to cherish and appreciate each day we have.

Cathy, I'm very sorry, I don't know how I missed the fact that you lost 4 pounds! I'm so proud of you...that is an awesome weigh in and must have felt pretty spectacular eh? Great job.

Hi Meg, how are things with you? Any news yet? How are things going with the present job? sounds like Atkins is working very well for you. I see your new stats and wanted to say how happy I am for you.

Good Morning Terry! Are you having a java yet? Yum...I love coffee. What kind of dog do you have? Ours are kind of attention hogs too. There is a German shepard pup next door that they love barking at through the fence...they drive me snaky some days but I love 'em.

Well off to hit the shower and get into work. Another busy day.

Take care all and hi to Grandma G and Karie wherever you both may be. Hope all is well...

Dahlia, so much sadness in your life too this week -- my condolences to you on the loss of your cousin and dear friend. BTW, good luck on your Easter goal -- you have a plan and that's a major first step.

It's bitterly cold again this morning -- remind me of this when I start moaning this summer about the heat and humidity. Pam, had my usual two cups of coffee -- needed it because my eyes just wouldn't open wide enough. Some days morning truly comes too soon. :dizzy:

Regarding the dogs, Rochester is a Yorkshire Terrier/Pomeranian mix which is why he's such a yapper -- 10 lbs of mouth with 4 legs. Mac is a purebred American Eskimoo and is easily instigated by the Devil Dog. Both are extremely territorial and protective -- sometimes muzzles look very appealing ....

Morning Meig -- hope all is well. :)

Get up Cathy -- after 6am in your neck of the woods!

Another busy day here as I didn't get to any of the work that I brought home from the store yesterday. Just so dang tired -- coffee and the vitamins have not kicked in enough yet.

Well, I had better get a move on -- stayed OP yesterday and banked some points. Only did one mile of WATP for Abs yesterday -- I usually don't answer the phone when I am working out but I saw that it was Katie so I did. I must have been looking for an excuse. My plan is to do something everyday activity wise as that's the only way I am going to lose this weight -- food intake just isn't enough. Dang, getting old is the pits sometimes!

OK, off and crawling here ..... I'll check back in later. Have a great morning everyone!

:)

Good morning everyone!

We are supposed to get up to 10 inches of snow before tomorrow! WOW! That should be a big mess!

Hope everyone is doing well.

I finished a sweater I was knitting last night. I am very excited. I had been working on it for a while (although I DIDN'T work on it for a while also). It is sleeveless with a mock turtleneck. I really like how it turned out. My arms could look a little better in it, but they will eventually.

Now I am at work, yet again with nothing to do - but still gainfully employed. I haven't heard about that job. I sent an email yesterday asking if they have filled the position, and haven't heard back. Take it that is a yes???

Well, that was my last excuse not to join the gym, so I am going to make that a priority this week.

Talk to you later!

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I haven't taken time to post lately. I've been pretty busy. I have just been reading quickly through the post and see everyone is doing great!

Congradulations Cat on losing 4 lbs. Awesome!

Meg you seem to be really doing well with the plan you are working with. I am so glad you finally found what works for you. and I hope you get that job you want. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Dahlia, it seems you are motivated to make some progress. Sometimes that is all it takes to get things going again. Just setting a mini goal. Something to work towards.

I have been staying pretty much on program with eating, but not exercising as much as I was. I will have to set another challenge for myself. That seems to work best for me.

The scales have finally started moving again. For a while I thought they were stuck in place! I lost 2 more pounds, bringing me to a total loss of 43 lbs. 43 lbs gone for ever.

Well a friend just came in so I will say bye for now. Will post again later.

Hey, Meigg, sorry to hear about the job, but experience has proven to me over and over again that there must be a better job out there just waiting for you to stumble across it. I truly believe there is a reason and a positive side for everything. So it's off to the gym, you go -- enjoy!

Enjoy your snow -- all we are getting is rainand freezing rain. Blah day :tired: so far -- must be all the ozone in the air.

Good attitude, Cathy, we all need to learn how to accept the things we have no control over. I would assume by now you have gotten in touch with Jacqui, and I hope she is doing OK.

Afternoon Ladies! :)

'bout time you got up, lazy bones! :D

I just love days like that, Cat, and sounds like you had a great one.

Meg, we are getting your snow today and it's coming down fast and furious, and now the winds are starting to pick up. It's heavy wet snow too. The roads are terrible. Russ had to go into Hartford for a meeting and what normally takes 5 minutes, took him 40, and he even had my Jeep. Chris has a snow day and hence my late check-in because we are sharing the computer -- can't wait for him to go away to college and then it's all mine!

Stayed OP yesterday by the skin of my teeth and even though I didn't want to, I did my 2 mile WATP. My thighs were killing me last night -- I had to pull myself up the stairs with the railing. Yikes, it's thundering now too -- weird weather. Spooky out there ....

Howdy Pam, Grandma and Dahlia -- hope you all are having a good day.

My time's almost up here ... be back during the next break!

Hey there ladies,

Sounds like you really had a work out Cool mom.. :strong:

I am so happy to say the metal monster is moving slowly downwards.. I have done so well this week..:D with my eating. hope I can keep it up, and surely I should have some good results by Easter.

Our snow stopped finally, and the sun shined today, it is only 21 but a lot better then minus 13 like the other day.

I know what you mean about sharing the computer Cool mom. When my son comes home on breaks, he has to talk to his gf at a certain time in the evening, a time I am used to being online.. and I let him use it but I hate the interruption of my schedule...:nono:
but I don't let him know.. he is not home that often.. I just get used to my routine and hate to break it up.

Lately I have been falling asleep on the couch by 9 pm... so I've been going to bed earlier and I get up around 6-6:30 and get some house work done before I go to work.

Going to see Chicago this weekend.. dh is going with me. He is such a sweetie, he'll sit thru it just for me..

Now that it is Lent, we are going to go out for fish every friday, it will be a nice break from our routine..and I won't have to cook at least once a week.:chef:

WEll speaking of cooking I am off to the kitchen, making an orange ginger beef dish for supper.. it is really good. it has lots of veggies in it and goes over rice..

HOpe you're all having an op day.. later..:cb: :cb:

Good Morning Girls,

Just popping in to say hi and let you know things are going alright. Erwin's Dad now has a cold on top of his pneumonia so he's feeling pretty rough. They're taking him back to the rehabilitation hospital in a few days for rehab and to see if they can get his blood sugar levels back to normal so we're not sure how long he'll be in there for. I guess after that...who knows?

Freezing cold here this morning -35 celsius. Brrr...am drinking coffee right now to try and warm up. Poor puppies this morning they are so tired of this weather too.

Well off to work, will pop back in on the weekend.

Take care and happy OP Friday to you all.

Afternoon :)

Just a drive by post to say hello!

WI was this morning and I am down 2.5 lbs for a total of 13 lbs since recommitment 1-26-03. I dread weigh ins because my whole mood for the day is based on it even though I know every reason why it should not be. I hold my breathe and close my eyes and suck in my stomach and don't move a muscle -- then I peek. Nerve wracking to say the least.

Pam, glad you checked in, and at least you know your FIL is getting great care -- one day at a time. I don't remember how to convert celsius to farenheit (sp?) but it sure sounds frigid! Math and I were not best of friends in school :D .

All right Meg! I see you are putting your new gym membership to good use! Just remember that it takes time for your body to adjust to building muscle so the scale may not show the effects of your work outs right at the start -- but it will! Like they say, muscle weighs more than fat and you are building muscle with all those weights .... We are proud of ya! :)

Dahlia -- I have heard nothing but good things about Chicago, so you should love it (as long as you like musicals that is!). Great job at the scale -- having a plan and sticking to it makes all the difference in the world. Fridays during Lent are cheese pizza night and as long as I plan it should be OK -- hate fish. I remember growing up -- every Friday during Lent was pasta fagiole (Italian mom) -- needless to say we don't have that any more!

How did your beef dish come out? I love ginger and make quite a few dishes with it myself. Usually with chicken though .... in fact there's a sesame ginger chicken recipe in this month's Cooking Light magazine. Have you ever checked out their web site? Excellent recipes (cookinglight.com).

Cathy, you still making that breakfast?!!

And, hope all is well, Grandma :) .

We ended up with about 9" of snow yesterday so I got in some activity points shoveling and snow blowing -- that machine is hard to push sometimes so it's not as easy as it appears. The roads were a disaster because it rained the day before and it all froze leaving slick ice under all the new snow. They said every major road in the state was closed at some point. There was a 100 car pile up in Massachusetts too -- miraculously, no one was seriously hurt. One big slide. Where fore art thou, Spring?!

Ok, back to doing what I was doing -- decluttering and laundry. Fun is.

Have a great remainder of the day, everyone, and Dahlia, enjoy the show.

Always, Terry

Got my duff on my treadmill yesterday..3 miles :cp: i'm trying to pick up the pace a bit ;) :bravo: on the 2.5lbs loss Terry..you're doing great...overall my week was a bit of a waste..i could have done much better but i'm blaming the bad news i received for not doing  feeble excuse ain't it? the wind has dropped here and the sun was shining first thing..its gone now tho' but it was nice while it lasted..after i've exercised i'm gonna de-clutter a room downstairs (where the woodstove is so i'll be nice and warm) we store tools and other 'junk' in it so i'm going to take down the blinds..clean the windows..wash the blinds..dust and wash everything down then re-arrange everything..i might even dust hubby's Triumph motorbike that is sat in there

Good Morning Ladies,

Just had to pop in and say I had a terrific weigh in this morning! I'm down 1.2 from last week to weigh in at 151.2!!! Just another reinforcement that jounalling, water and exercise pay off! I kept pretty close to my points to this week and tried to watch my sodium and surprise, surprise....look what happens!

Went out for dinner with a friend last night...second time I've seen her in six years. I was very hopeful that it would be the beginning of a new friendship with us as adults but alas six years has changed both of us and I'm not sure what made us friends all those years ago is who we are now if that makes sense? I'm not sad, just kind of disappointed. It's exciting to get back in touch with someone that you used to share alot with but discouraging to realize that it just isn't the same anymore. I think we'll wind up being coffee buddies but not too much more. Getting older is full of lessons isn't it?

Well off to have brekkie and get ready to go get my hair cut.

Have a great OP day ladies and I'll check back in later,

Pam

Morning Ladies!

Yea, Pam, so close!! Congrats on the weight loss!! :)

I am convinced too that journaling makes us think twice about what we choose to eat and how much. I really feel psyched this time around especially now that I see my clothes starting to fit better.

Seems like you are getting to know your friend all over again. Just enjoy the relationship as is and not the expectations. Getting older is good -- believe it or not, you do learn to accept so much more. You also learn to choose your battles and not go to war over everything. At least that was true for me -- I used to stand on principle all the time and do battle with everyone "just because" the situation called for it. Easier on my nerves this way!

Lord, we watched "Road to Perdition" last night with Tom Hanks and Paul Newman -- what a dark and depressing movie. Made "Godfather" seem like a comedy -- I kid you not! It was on DVD so we watched the "commentary" and "making of the movie" just to get a light after-taste. Give me movies like "Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "Legally Blonde" anytime!

Had pizza last night -- 3 pieces but saved points so it was OK. I was looking forward to it all day, but Russ ordered it with pineapple -- yuck. They hid it under the cheese so I couldn't even pick it off. Bums! :smug: But it was pizza nonetheless and I had planned on it and I ate it!

Not much planned for today -- going to play Scrabble and Boggle on the computer and cruise some web sites. Love "my" time on the computer!

So, Cathy, what are we making for "brekkie" (I learned a new word from your guys this week!) this morning?! I am having "Scottish Porridge" -- 6 points -- for brunch.

Morning Dahlia and Grandma :) ....

Hope everyone has a good Saturday!

The sun is shinning :flow2: bright and the temps are in the high 40s -- have not seen them that high in a long time! Bring on the robins -- Spring's a'coming!

Always, T

Morning Ladies..Pam..great job! :cp: is'nt it funny how people change? and yet my pal in England never does..it is like we have never been apart when i go back :D we never argue..never did..and we still laugh at the same things ;)

Terry..don't know what i'm having for brekky but i only have to make my own this morning because hubby is out having his with friends..Yaaaayy! i'm free of the griddle

Our Jacqui called me yesterday afternoon and pic's of Olivia are in the mail :cb: i can't wait to see her..while i was on the phone i could hear Olivia crying in the background and i said 'i'd better let you go' Jacqui replied 'its alright Andy is with her and he's teasing her..he won't give her her dummy (pacifier)' i asked what she looks like and Jacqui said she looks like me when i was a baby, Andy piped up in the background "no she does'nt she's good looking she looks like me" i guess i'll be the :judge: of that!

I was bad yesterday and did'nt exercise...and although i started springcleaning the woodstove room i have'nt finished it so it looks like thats my saturday planned.

Oh Cathy how exciting to finally get to lay eyes on Little Miss Precious....promise you will post them! How is Jaqui doing? Is she handling things alright with her Dad and a new little one? I hope you get to go over soon...I can fairly imagine the suspense to hold Olivia is a killer.

Terry, great job on banking points for pizza! I'm like and don't much care for pineapple on mine either. I do however love one from Boston Pizza called the Boston Royale. Yum...making my mouth water so I better stop thinking of it :)

Well off to go do some laundry and make some lunch. Talk to you all later.

Pam

P.S. Good morning to Dahlia, Meg, Grandma G and Karie (wherever you may be lurking :) ) Pop in and say hi...I (we) miss you!

Terry..i'm torn between going and not :( i want to go obviously because of the new addition not to mention seeing the kids again :D but i don't want to go because of my 'anxiety' problem and the sheer thought of spending 9+ hours on a plane :fr: i'll be so happy when they really can teleport people like they do on startrek  i went to the travel agents the other day to pick up some brochures and apparently i just missed a big seat sale with british airways :( i don't mean that the seats are BIG but the sale was  the travel agent said it is really difficult to find a seat at the moment..but i've been online to various sites and there does'nt seem to be a problem.
Pam..Jacqui is upset but as we all knew it was coming i don't think that the 'blow' was as bad as expected...i'll definitely be posting pic's of Olivia..just try and stop me

Hello everyone,
I trip to England, sounds wonderful, but 9+ hrs in a plane..I'd be a bit nervous too..especially these days... but hope you find a good price and available seats and have a grand time...:)

Well, I couldn't wait till Monday to see how I have been doing.. so I stepped on the scale this morning and I am a definite 2 pounds lighter,, even after going out for fish last night and having cheese and crackers for an appetizer. I guess I was so good that the little indulgence was ok... made me feel good anyway..

Right now I just took a divine Chocolate cake out of the oven.. I have this great recipe for a very moist cake, called 5 min. chocolate cake.. I was telling the gals at work about it and they wanted the recipe so I decided to bake them one too... the whole house smells like chocolate, it smells so heavenly..but I cannot eat chocolate so I'll just have to enjoy the smell... (it bothers my tummy quite badly) though I love it. But I am getting my good will power back again, isn't it nice when you try something and it works and you can live with it.. so far so good anyway..

We are having a mini blizzard here. I live across the road from a lake but at the moment with the snow and blowing I can't even see the lake.. it is suppose to last till this evening, we are to get 3-5 inches of new snow and then it is to quit just like that.. it started around noon. I went to town this morning and it was lovely out.. first time all year they called it right. I went to Hallmark this morning, they have so many lovely pieces there, I could go hog wild shopping there.. for myself as well as others.. I did get myself a teapot candle burner that you put the tea lite on the bottom and the tart on the top.. lit it when I got home, with wild pansies.. whole house smelled like it, course now the chocolate has taken over...anyway in case you couldn't tell I am in a jolly good frame of mind and mood today.. have been all week, I think its cause I am so determined this time and it is co-operating.....

I am painting a sign for work, so better get back to it.. was letting the first coat dry. So will check in later...

Dahlia
Hope you're all having a super day too ;)

Afternoon --

Watching a UCONN basketball game. Good game -- they are winning :) . Did two miles on the treadmill as we are going out to eat tonight which means wine -- I like to take it easy food-wise on the weekends. I'll never stick with it M-F if I have to be totally strict on the weekends. As long as the scale goes down on a monthly basis, I am OK with this.

Dahlia, wow, I would say you sound like you are in 7th heaven -- endorphins must be flying thru your system! Hmmm, my stomache loves chocolate -- in case you'd like to share the recipe, we're here. Kudos on the weight loss -- we do get in a good mood when that scale looks good!

I love Hallmark -- so many pretty things -- more than a card shop now. I bet your home smells so pretty!

Cathy, once you got to England the last time, you were so glad you went. Go to the doc, get some valium, stay up the night before, and sleep all the way there -- I know you'll go once you get those pics!!

Howdy Ms. Pam!

OK, time to check my WW site and journal my 2 pt activity -- means more wine!

I was going to say something else and it just blew out of my mind ...

Oh, now I remember, I started taking the new One-A-Day Vitamins for Weight Stress -- I don't know whether they work on your metabolism or not, but I am more energetic.

OK, back to basketball -- catch ya on the rebound!

Hello ladies,

NOt much activity on the thread on weekends, hope all are just busy enjoying their families and friends. I had a good weekend.
I got a lot accomplished and even had some *ME* time.. I finally got to finish reading a book I started months ago. Went to see Chicago with dh this afternoon, then bought him supper for sitting thru it with me.. He just doesn't like musicals that much. But I thoroughly enjoyed it,, so I owe him one..

On weekends I decided to allow myself a desert if I wanted it or a special treat, so I won't feel deprived.. plus on Sundays I can eat a special breakfast of bacon or sausage and egg. The rest of the week its only a bowl of cereal, slice of toast and my pills. Yogurt for break, a lean cuisine for lunch, a cup of coffee or tea for afternoon break with some fruit, then a light supper. I eat a normal supper but am watching the portions... it is something I can live with, and I don't feel deprived plus the scale is moving in the downward direction...:cb:

It is still so cold, and the wind just won't quit. Well, going to go sit and snuggle with dh... hi to Pam, Miegg, coolmom, grandma G.
terry, and everyone else.. have a great evening. Catch ya all later,
Dahlia

Hi everyone! Sorry I couldn't check in earlier...very busy weekend. I am still working on my children's show (choreographing) and then running errands seems to fill the rest of the weekend.

I lost 1/2 pound this week. I even cheated and had alot of sugar and bread for 2 days this week. The atkins site I go to says that sometimes eating carbs does lead to weight loss. It must shock your system or something.

Looking forward to working out tomorrow morning. I made 100 cookies for the kids in the show and my co-workers. I am bringing them to celebrate st. pat's. I also am finishing another sweater this week.

I bought a case of san pelligrino at costco, i figured that would help me get my water intake up. I must say, i am really very happy right now - despite that fact that money is tight and my job is not the most fulfilling in the world. what i mean is that losing 19 pounds really has improved my attitude about myself, and my life. i am painting my nails again, wearing my jewelry again, wearing makeup again, dyed my hair red again, cut it even shorter - the list goes on and on.

the biggest change shocked even me. my favorite lunch for as long as i can remember was a grilled cheese and fries. i cheated and had one. you know what? it really wasn't that great. and it isn't like i even felt bad afterwards - it just really wasn't as good as i remembered it. it is like i don't need it anymore - my tastes have changed that much.

Dahlia - congrats on the two pound loss! good for you!

Pam - great job on the 1.2 pound loss!

Let's hope for an OP monday!!

Hey all,

Hope you've had a great weekend. Mine wasn't too shabby at all. I went overboard on food today but did get my workout in so all was not lost. DH and I went to Church today for the first time ever. I'd attended a few times during my life but never felt comfortable there. We tried a new one today and we're both cautiously optimistic that we may have found a "fit".

Also heard news today that FIL may be released to go home in the next few days rather than going back to the rehab center. It will depend on his test results but his new Dr. seems to think he doesn't need the Glenrose Rehab program. His blood sugar levels are still pretty funky though so I'm not sure what to think. Dad was in good spirits today although he had nothing good to say about the hospital food :)

Dahlia, you are sounding so positive and I love to read about you feeling good. You are doing a very good think by recognizing that deprivation leads to failure and I applaud your efforts. Great job on the loss and great job on the Live-It (to quote our darling Grandma G)

Meg, you too are an inspiration. You sound all fired up and I'm so proud of your effort. Joining the gym and finding a plan that makes you feel better about yourself??? Awesome start to the new year. As you get happier with yourself you will find that other aspects will fall into place too.

Cathy, Terry...how are you girls doing today? Hope you two weren't wicked last night...maybe that's why you're so quiet today huh? Just kidding...I was in bed by 10:00 last night so no party animal here :)

Well off to get my stuff ready for work tomorrow. Will be a busy week so will hopefully find time to pop in tomorrow.

Hugs to you all,

Pam

Meg and Dahlia..congrats on the weightloss :D
Pam..no mad night on the tiles for me just a wild night at the workshop with hubby a roaring woodstove and a few bud's ;) (the bottled kind)

Morning!

D-Day is here -- translation: back to work day! You'd swear I was going back to school and it was the first day. Went to Staples and bought my favorite pens, post-its, a new calendar, got my tote all organized.

Nervous about fitting in WATP and staying OP -- the store is sandwiched between a Pizza Hut and a Dunkin Donuts. Pizza Hut is always sending over free pizzas. I figured I would just put them in the back room -- out of sight, out of mind! :dizzy: I am bringing my own lunch so I won't be tempted too. Planning right??!

Everyone's in such a good mood! :cp:

Meg, they say it takes 3 months to establish a new routine and new habits -- sounds like your body is adjusting very nicely to your new lifestyle. Amazing isn't it -- when you feel good about yourself, the whole world around you looks better. What children's show are you working on? Sorry to be so nosey but it sounds like you are a busy women despite work!

Cathy, I can just see you running on the treadmill during Shaft. I hope Olivia gets to know what a crazy grandma she has! 4 miles is awesome -- gave you a lot of energy for the workshop :s: . Hubby must be smiling today -- now that his Triumph is nice and shiny, that is! :s: :s:

Pam, what denomination was the church? We're Catholic and I just remember our pastor telling Russ that it's really what's in your heart that counts. With Russ working 6 days a week, Sundays are his only day to sleep in late. And, when he's working 7 days a week, forget it. I really liked this priest -- did I ever tell you he was murdered a few years ago? Someone broke into the church and bludgeoned him to death. A very sad time.

Hey, good news that your FIL may be coming home -- must be feeling better if he knows the food is bad!

Sounds like you had a good weekend, too, Dahlia! :) Portion control is my biggest problem and I blame it on my mom -- she always had huge meals especially on Sundays. The Italian in her! Of course, I didn't have to eat it all either but she's a good cook :smug:. I swear, I can eat more than my DH especially if it's pasta and bread -- my weaknesses.

Well, better get a move on here -- make the beds, etc and then do my WATP. I know if I leave it for when I come home from work, I'll be too tired. Have a great Monday and I will see you all tonight -- if I don't fall asleep early that is!

Always, Terry

Good Morning!

Terry - where are you working? I must have missed this. Are you starting a new job? Good for you on bringing your lunch. It really does make a huge difference, because you aren't tempted to order something off-program. I brought in food for this week, and stock-piled my work fridge. I am buying alot of yarn lately, so I would rather spend the $ on that.

Pam, I think it is very cool about church. I feel out of sorts when it comes to religion. My parents moved 6 mos. after I was born into a bigger house (they still live there 33 years later). They never found a new church. My sister is a little over-the-top when it comes to religion (in my opinion), which is kind of a turn off. My husband and I are trying to figure out what to do, and if we should start investigating finding a church. I think what you are doing is just great! - and good news about your FIL being released.

I am working on Annie Get Your Gun. My mom founded Children's Theatre of Winnetka in like 1974. She has been directing a musical in the spring every year since. I have been choreographing for the past 10 years. My sister joined as co-choreographer last year, and her husband is musical director/piano player in the pit (he joined us this year). My husband and brother help build the sets, and my dad manages our website. You can take a look at our website (which I designed) - www.childrenstheatrewinnetka.com. On it you can see our shows thru the ages, as well as a lot of photos from our fall production of Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Check out "Current Happenings" and CTW Retrospective" for the photos. Let me know what you guys think if you go to the site.

Well, I worked out this morning. I feel great. It wasn't even hard getting up at 5:30. And yesterday we totally cleaned the house so it was nice to wake up and have everything spotless. I am taking some of my clothes to be tailored at lunch today. I think it will inspire me to keep going if I have clothes that really flatter me. They are so big in the waist, that I look heavier than I am. What is the point?

Hope everyone has a great day. I will check in soon.

the productions looked really professional too ;)
I'm sure you will look great in the 'fitted' clothes..good for you for taking that step :D
Terry..stuck in the middle of a Dunkin Donuts and a Pizza Hut  it reminds me of that 'ad' for Oreo's.."i'm squeezed in the middle..smack dab in the middle" don't know if you get that one..it's kinda cartoony with everyone singing on a bus
All i've achieved so far today is to feed hubby and take all the paint cans out from under the stairs..will go and vacuum..mop.. caulk around the trim and then re-organise everything in a minute...wonder if there are any 'action' movies on today? Y & R does'nt get very exciting

Hi everyone. I spent the morning updating my personal website. I normally use it for showing apartments in my building. But today I made a page with photos showing my weightloss over time. private message me and I will give you the link. I think you can really see it in my face - but that is just my opinion....

My right arm is KILLING ME! I think I overdid it at the gym today. I can hardly lift my arm. I iced it and took 2 aleve. It feels a little better - but the shoulder is still throbbing. I don't know what happened. I guess I am more out of shape than I thought!

Hope everyone is having an OP day - talk to you soon!

Hi all,

Terry and Meg to answer your question the church we tried on Sunday is the Unitarian Church of Edmonton. I have been reading up a bit on the Unitarian ideas and am so far in favour. They seem to encourage you to find and follow your own belief whether that be to follow Christianity, Buddism, Hinduism, a mixture...they will not tell you what they perceive to be right and wrong. They encourage disucssion and tolerance of all. I don't know what to make of it all yet as it's very new to me. If this offends any of you I promise not to bring this to the board anymore. I am excited about finding my faith as I was not raised in any form of religion as a child. My parents were not followers of any religion and were not interested in starting any discussions of the sort. I feel like I've floundered my whole life trying to find what I believe in. The older I get the more I feel the need to find that path. I'm looking forward to the journey to see where it may take me. Okay enough of my mussings.

Had a good day so far and am trying a new skillet recipe tonight for one dish cacitore. We'll see how that turns out. It's sure smelling good :) Will do a WATP tape tonight to get my exercise in.

Terry, hope your first day back wasn't too frightful. Good job on taking lunch. I do the same thing as it's just easier than constantly fighting temptation.

Have a good night all and I'll check back later if time allows.

Chips Ahoy!

You know, we may not be a lot of people here, but we do have the best ladies around!

Meg, you are so pretty :) ! And, I did check out the children's workshop web site, and as Cathy said, it was very professional looking. If a web site answers all my questions, then it's a good one -- that's the criteria I use to judge and yours did. I'd love to see your own site and will PM you.

Even people that are "in shape" can aggrevate a muscle by simply moving the wrong way -- doesn't take much. Kudos on getting to the gym so early in the morning -- keep it up because you are going to look great this summer! :) And, if you feel good now .... just imagine! :cloud9:

Cathy, you must have the most organized home in all of Vancouver Island. And, if not quite yet, soon because you are basically a one woman decluttering demolition squad! I used to be so addicted to soaps all through high school up until about ten years ago. Another World and Days of Our Lives -- we'd go on vacation and I would set up two VCRs and record two weeks worth of shows. That was hooked! Now I am a news junkie instead!

Pam, I commend you for searching for something more spiritual in your life, and as we get older, I think it's a quest many seek. I may not attend church every Sunday, but I do consider myself to be very religious and pray everyday. It doesn't make me any better or any worse than anyone else, it's just my way. I don't agree with everything about the Catholic Church but I feel "at home" with my religion and that's what counts. Good luck!

Meg, you asked where I work. My husband owns a small retail outerware store (furs mostly and some leather) and I work during our busy seasons which are obviously winter, and then again in the spring, because we also store approximately 5500 coats for the summer months. I also do a lot of work (paper work and computer input) at home during the summer.

Whew! I did manage to do my 2-mile WATP and stayed OP with food for the first day. I started taking vitamins and had all this energy up until about 6pm and then I crashed BIG TIME. :faint: Threw myself on the bed with a big "do not disturb" sign in my eyes and veged out with TV. Morning came too fast! From past experience I know it takes me a good week to get acclimated to being back at work.

Dahlia, did you get blown away with all that wind you had the other day??!

Hope all is well, Grandma :)

Well, this turned out to be "War and Peace" -- sorry to write so much!! Have a good day everyone and probably see you all in the morning -- I didn't even touch the computer last night except to scan emails -- now, you know I was tired!

Always, Terry
