I guess I have stopped thinking about how much I will lose this year. I have lost 40lb and though I need to lose 30 more I'm ok. We have one son out of 10 kids not saved so that would be wonderful if he would trust Christ.

I still try to do 4 or 5 mi. a day except Sun. when we usually have company. Hasn't really helped me lose weight but there are lots of other benefits.

Carol - CONGRATS on losing 40 lbs!!! that is AWESOME!!! and congrats on having 10 kids - WOW! YOU GO GIRL ;) I will pray for your son!

I did 5 miles this morning! :carrot: yes mam I said 5 miles. I cannot remember the last time I did 5 miles. I used the 5 Really Big Miles and I really love that work out, but I don't care if I ever do that 4th mile again ;) those lunges are brutal ;) 88 minutes of walking ... I'm so proud of myself :cheer:

where is the rest of our walkers? hope everybody is ok.

tomorrow it is back to work so I'll be up at 5:00 walking before getting ready. I sure have loved being off and at home for a little while.

hope everybody has a great :running: day!

I started monday with one mile and last night I did two and hopefully tonight I will do three. Not sure the name but it consists of five miles. At one time I was a very dedicated exerciser doing step aerobics, tae-bo, The firm tapes and many other tapes but due to my back I stopped everything about five months ago. I have decided I'm not gonna go back to what I was doing especially the two hours a night I was exercising. I'm really loving this walking tape and just feel so much better after doing it even thou I'm only at two miles

hey gang - i slept past 5 the past 2 morning :( on nights when i have trouble sleeping it is soooooo hard to get up. but i really feel bad missing my walking. i'll get it in tomorrow morning ;)

Sluggo44 - WELCOME! it's great to have you here! I agree... I feel so much better after walking with Leslie! YOU GO GIRL!!!

Carol - you are doing great!!! :cheer:

The tape I'm doing has each mile at 12 minutes hence 5 miles in one hour. If you were a guessing person how many calories do you think that burns? I'm 4 9 1/2 and need to lose about 25 pounds

cathyxxx
01-06-2012, 02:55 PM
I don't even have to guess ;) because on Leslie's website she says that a mile of her regular walks burns around 100 calories, and a boosted mile burns around 125 calories. those miles you are talking about are boosted miles so that is 5 x 125 = 625 calories burned :) YOU GO GIRL! :cheer:

P.S. I'm 52 so we are close in age ;)

sluggo44
01-06-2012, 05:08 PM
lol Cathy I guess I didn't make it more clear my height is 4 91/2 but I am 47. Well I know at the end of each mile she does this two minute boost but had no idea that many calories are being burnt. WOO HOO you got me even more motivated to get to that five mile mark YEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cathyxxx
01-07-2012, 12:16 PM
Lol sluggo I read that as 49 and a half. Didn't even think about your height ;)

I did 3 miles this morning. I used the Iwalk strong that is streaming on leslie's website

Hi Everyone! I'm new here and this sounds like a great place to start since WATP is my workout of choice. I have several of Leslie's DVD's, but had packed them away when I moved back in March (EEKS!) and now just pulled them out again when I started this journey.

I have suffered with knee and back problems for quite awhile (which has alot to do with my weight!), so I find the walking DVDs are perfect for me.

Yesterday was my first workout and I did a 3 Mile - I forget the name of it exactly, but it is the one that has hand weights in the 1st and 3rd miles and her sister leads the 2nd mile. It felt great to get through it. Today my back is sore so I decided to take a day or two off before I go at it again hopefully on Monday.

How many times do you all workout per week? I used to do 5-6 times per week, but now with the kids crazy schedule and me working full-time I am going to aim for three times. It is better than none, right?

cathyxxx
01-09-2012, 03:48 PM
WELCOME LAURA!!! it's great to have you here! glad you will be walking with us!!! I think walking 3 times a week is great, especially if you haven't been walking since March. i am for at least 5 times a week... sometimes I make it, most the time I don't. life is crazy busy. I do what I can. this morning I did not make it up in time to walk. had planned to try to do it tonite but hubby made plans for us to watch the game, which means i'll be up late again today, making it really hard to get up tomorrow. it's a vicious cycle ;) glad you are here with us!

Hi,

An avid walker here.

My goal is to shed 25 more pounds, about 15 lost so far :)

My goal is to walk min 20 miles per week or 80 miles per month. As of today I have walked 64.6 miles this month.

Nice to be here.

Hello Ladies, I have just started to do the 2 mile Slim fast walk. Currently I am doing it 3 times a week.

I wish to lose about 70lbs, ideally about 30 before April.

My question is will I be able to do so just doing the 2 miles or will I need be going higher.

Also what would be great is know how much people have lost on WATP and how quickly.

Thank you loads.

Regards

Susanna

WELCOME SUM38 & SUSANNA!!! we are glad to have y'all walking here with us!!!

I did 2 miles this morning. I used the 5 Really Big Miles.

Susanna - Leslie's website says that her walks burn about 100 calories per mile, and boosted miles burn around 125, so a 3 mile walk burns between 300 to 375 calories.

carolr3639, I did 4 miles last night and its getting easier. I think this is the dvd I will be sticking with for quite sometime. I love that you just go right into the miles and with them being 12 min a piece I can wipe out five miles in one hour and the dvd really does go by fast

Cathy, what is the walk and jog dvd

cathyxxx
01-23-2012, 03:05 PM
Hey Sluggo - "walk and jog" is one of Leslie's dvds. it's a great walk. it's a 2 mile walk with intervals of walking fast, and then intervals of jogging. she has someone that walks thru the whole thing tho, so if someone doesn't want to jog they don't have to. it's kind of an older one.

sluggo44
01-24-2012, 10:48 AM
4 miles last night, really wanted to do all five but really tired

carolr3639
01-25-2012, 01:34 PM
Five really big miles last night broken into the 3 mi and then a little later finished the five miles.

carolr3639
01-25-2012, 01:35 PM
Seems it is easier to do a couple miles in the morning and a couple in the eventing or break up the five mile. It's hard to carve out an hour plus to do the longer ones.

Sum38
01-25-2012, 02:20 PM
ooops...I did not realize this was a virtual walk place. I do it the old fashioned way; outdoors :D

I walked another 6.7 miles this morning. My speed was 4.4 mph. Proud of myself, because the terrain is quite hilly :)

carolr3639
01-26-2012, 02:00 PM
That's ok Sum. I used to walk outside but I have a chronic disease and am supposed to stay out of the sun. Even a little sun used to raise my blood calcium. Six miles used to take me 2 hr. or more on hilly terrain. I always loved walking so in the spring I'd start out with 6 miles right away and after a couple days my legs were so sore I could hardly walk.

Still doing about 4 miles a day of WATP. I have a new idea to do a few minutes every so often in the day plus the 4 miles.

**Cathy-I got your note and replied today!**

Hello all!! I'm going to sneak back in and be accountable here!! I put on a few pounds over the holidays and am almost back to my 154 on my ticker. I'll leave it for a few more weeks and hope I don't have to change it!! :D

This morning I did 4 miles from The 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk. Wore the two pound weighted belt from another LS set.

Sum, I think the hills really do a number on your calves. We went out to eat with some friend once after I had started doing my 6 mi. and they must have thought something was really wrong the way I hobbled around and could hardly step up on a curb. Ouch! That was a few years ago and I can remember it well. Maybe this spring I'll try outside walking again since my blood calcium has been down for a couple years. Once the soreness goes away it is much better.

carolr3639
01-27-2012, 02:54 PM
If you do 4 miles a day of WATP that is 1248 miles a year.

My wonderful DH worked his magic on my legs last night, esp. calves...they feel so much better today. -- I took a day off and tomorrow will be another nice walk day. -- We had this great nature park, near to our house...it has woods, fields, hills and lake. My dog loves it, she can go off the leash and swim during summer months.

I just did 3 miles. I used the 5k with a Twist.

Annie - it's so good to see you on here! I know you are walking but we miss you when you're not here ;)

Sum - we are glad to have you here. I love real walking but I usually have to get mine in at 5 in the morning and it's just easier to do that with Leslie's dvds. I may have to start walking at the mall during my lunchhour for awhile tho, bec 5 am has gotten to be grand central station LOL at my house for awhile with a job my son is working. anyway, whatever kind of walking or exercise someone is doing - we are glad to have them here.

Carol - you are doing great!!!

Hi everyone!! I was excited as I bought the newest 5-mile LS walk Friday evening and was going to try it Sat. Woke up sick as a dog with a horrible cold and was down all weekend. I did nothing. How does this particular DVD work? Treadmill?

---------

I walked 5.2 miles through SNOW, and lots of it. I was sooo tired afterwards. My legs are sore, but the good kind

118 miles for this month. My goal was 80 miles; if I really push it tomorrow (depending on snow situation), I may end up at 125 miles for the month :carrot:

I have not lost any weight this month, but I have slimmed down inch wise. I think I am building muscle. My clothes fir better, and I feel firmer. :)
