HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEANNE!!!! :hb: :hb: :hb:

HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!! :wizard: :balloons: :wizard:

Sherry I love your Poo Bear. Now I have a bit of info I can share with you girls! Did you know that there really was a Winnie The Poo Bear? He was a black bear that was brought to our zoo. I think that he was rescued from some forest fire. (not sure about the fire) His name came from our city Winnipeg. We have a tribute to him at our zoo.

Well did the doctor thing yesterday. Feeling ok today. I had a bit of a problem with one of the biopcys. The one on my neck didn't want to stop bleeding. It look so funny when I left the office cause I had a patch that was bigger than my whole hand across my neck. You have to remember this mole was tiny. It was the size of a 1/4 of the tip of a pencil eraser. Good thing it wasn't any bigger I would have ended up in a body cast. As it goes the patch on my leg is only 2 x 2. Go figure that was where I had a permenant bruise for about 7 years and it is larger than my hand.

Today is tea time. It has warmed up here but now it is snowing.

Hope you all have a marvelous day.

Hi Fellow Floozies,

Just a quick note to let you know I didn't drop off the face of the earth . . . and to thank everyone for the kind words - definitely made me smile. After all the medical stuff, I capped off the week by getting laid off on Friday! So it wasn't one of my best weeks and I've been feeling a little down. Just been laying low the last few days, but I'll spring back eventually.

Just wanted you all to know I've been thinking about you. And wanted to wish Jeanne a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Time to go shovel some more snow.

Hugs to you all!

Hi everyone.

If I didn't know you all so well, I wouldn't even bring this one up. How many watched Joe Millionaire and what were your reactions? The reason I said what I did was that in another group, I just asked whether there were any Joe Millionaire fans out there, and started World War 3 (or 4).

hi fellow floozies!
Just a quick post to say Hi! I just came back from the gym..first time this week ..so lets hope its a trend!

I am just tking it one day at a time right now, feeling a bit overwhelmed by myself..isn't it amazing how we(when I say we I mean I!) can focus on our failures and not our successes, its never quite good enough, or I am not quite there yet, never mind how far i've come. i think its becoz my body image has not caught up with my actual body size. I need to figure out how to accept myslef the way i am, congratulate myself for what I have achieved so far and buckle down to create the future I want for myself!

Any suggestions ladies?
:^:
have a great Wednesday,
Shazzy

Shazzy, yes, you should focus on all that you have achieved up to this point and all that you will continue to achieve in the future! It sounds like you are on your own through all of this...remember that you can come here anytime to vent, get motivation, ask for advice or just for a laugh or two. GREAT JOB MAKING IT TO THE GYM!!!!

Sher: Now how silly can I be?????? DON'T ANSWER!!!! I read your post, then the time, it looked like you wrote it shortly after midnight, so your tomorro was my today! OOOPPPS!!!!

Jeanne: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!! TOMORROW!!!!!!!!

Titan Dee: I only got to watch a few shows, but I thought he picked the right gal. The other one seemed to be after the money. I heard tonight that the last show was taped in November and that they have not dated since then! Guess with buukooo-bucks you could buy happiness!

Ramona: Have you ever tried the gala apple? We have been getting some here that are really good, they are huge too!

Doni: Nice to see you post! Hope your computer is better now!

Donna: I hope the week gets better for you! try to relax a bit and not let all of the stress work on you. Sounds like your having snow?

Dee: Hows the spots today that you had removed? Hows Jackie? Did you find out if you have Hospice care in your area?

Well, busy, busy day!!! Still working and doing my volunteer stuff too, never a free minute, I guess no rest for the wicked! BTW: My dieting sucks!!!!! I can not seem to get motivated!!!!

Hi everybody!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes (I'll take them for two days)! You floozies are fantastic! I'm taking the day off work tomorrow to spend the day with my dh. We are going to tour a possible middle school for my son and then we are going to lunch and maybe a movie. After that we will pick the kids up and have a family celebration. The kids are spending the night at my sister's house on Friday, so dh and I will have some alone time again...a very special treat for us. On Saturday, I'm heading over to the spa for a facial and a little pampering. So it's not so bad turning a year older (beats the alternative)!

This past weekend we were camping in San Diego and lucked out with the weather. No rain and it was just a little overcast. We spent a lot of time in the pools (they keep them warm, 90 degrees!), did some bike riding, went to a dance on Saturday night (for all ages) and made a donation to Legoland on Sunday! The Legoland miniland is amazing. They've made replicas of NYC, New Orleans, the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, San Francisco, Southern California, Washington DC, etc., etc. Quite a sight. The rides were fun too.

I can't believe it...I totally spaced out on Joe Millionaire last night. We got home from our trip yesterday and did the laundry, ate, etc. and fell into bed. I watched the Michael Jackson special....I was so bummed when I realized I missed it. I was glad to hear that Zora was the one. I thought she was the best match for a Joe without $. Glad to hear that they got some $ too.

Welcome SHAZZY! and congrats on your success.

I should be receiving my Atkins books in the mail any day now! I'll be needing lots of support and I know I will find it here. Thanks for making me feel so welcome in this very special group.

Gayle, the gala apples have been my staple for about a year now. They are delicious. I think I was just ready for a little change and the cameo fit the bill.
The racecar I'm painting for my friend is a street stock. They run on dirt tracks here except for a big race in Batesville(where Mark Martin got his start). His car is going to be red, white, and blue. This is actually a second car for him. He is going to race in two different classes this year. He's a cop so I guess that need for speed just comes natural to him! LOL

Gayle there is no hospice care here. Jackie is doing ok right now. Just an emotional ride. My insisions are healing and not bleed ing any more. Now my complaint is about all the tape holding on the gauze and how big the rash is from it!

Well I better run I see my friends coming to pick me up.

I hope our birthday girl is having a GRAND day!!!!!!

Dee: I will do some checking to see if I can come up with any on line info for you to share with Jackie. I am sure this is a horrible time for her and her family. The fear of a terminal illness will chase away some of the relatives and friends a person may have at times. Sometimes you don't need to say anything at all, just be there to hold a hand or give a hug. If you have any questions, feel free to email me, some of the training I just went thru may be of service to you.

Confession Time or How to Start a War on the Internet.

About 3 weeks ago, I came across a modified version of Weight Watchers called the Wendie Plan. You still select your "range" by your weight and you still use the same method that to calculate points. But instead of working within the range every day, you have a set pattern of points that you eat each day of the week. One day during the week, you are suppose to eat 10-13 points over your range. The idea behind it is that you are keeping your body guessing and it doesn't get stuck expecting a certain amount of food each day.

Well, someone got the brilliant idea of starting a yahoo group which started out fine. I think it got up to 53 members or so, though I never saw any messages from about 1/2 of those. Several were pretty hung up on what their weight would be at weigh in and they had gained 1 lb. etc. etc.

There is one ol' gal on there started making "suggestions" though they sounded like demands. A couple of us decided she was either an OLD MAID school teacher, back from the days when our parents went to school. Got the type??? (Nothing against current teachers, okay) We even figured out what she needed. She tried to correct people's spelling though one of her post was about recipies (is that the plural of a recipy).

Monday afternoon I decided it would be fun to start a topic about Joe Millionaire, who was watching etc. A couple responded, but then Ms. Abigail "suggested" that if the subject was off topic, it should be replied to privately. I guess I wasn't the bad person for the original message, but everyone else was.

My immediate reaction was where she could take her suggestion, and after the show, put a quick message to everyone. I've seen the show, love it, but won't say any more in case someone hasn't etc.

Another gal got more pissed, sent Abigail a private message that she didn't appreciate her comments and who was she to try to control what everyone wrote. Abigail tried to back track her comments, but sounded like someone caught in the cookie jar.

This still would have been the end of it, except for a couple other comments made by others, mostly agreeing with Abigail. The ultimate was when someone said we needed to put OT (Off Topic) in the subject line. At that point, I blew and let everyone know that I didn't think it took a rocket scientist to know Joe Millionaire had little to do weight lost. Were we dealing with people who didn't know that McDonald's coffee is hot? The response I got was that one of my messages about Joe Millionaire did ask what people ate during the show. I'm still trying to figure out what her complaint was on that one. If you weren't watching the show, what you ate then was probably immaterial.

We even pointed out to them that a discussion about Off Topic was just as off topic as any other discussion not related to weight loss.

And that, my friends is how to start WW3 (or 4) on the Internet.

Today I walked away from the group, unsubscribed. I expect the group to fold very soon. The monitor is seldom there. Several of the ones left are already talking about going away from the Wendie plan, so I suspect if it does remain, it will turn into a Wendie bashing group.

Anyhow, I'm "back" (never left), but you know what I mean.

Hope you enjoyed this.

Oh, I can't promise for sure, but if you missed Joe Millionaire Monday, they usually rebroadcast on Thursday evening.

Yes, I was glad with the results. I kept thinking he had picked Sara and she had made enough comments that would make many of us think she was more than a little interesting in the money. After she found out she wasn't picked, and she & Melissa talked, it was pretty much verified or she had a big case of sour grapes. I do think that she thought she had 100% chance.

As far as what has happened, I understand they are on ET tonight and there is also a followup show next Monday.

Tonight we get the results for Bachelorette. Gee, maybe I unsubscribed too soon. I could have gone for another round with that one.

Love you all.

Dee, that is hilarious! It just makes you want to tell them to get a life. Heck, if all we talked about here was weightloss, I'd be really sad. I consider everyone here my long distance family and I know we are always here for one another through thick and thin.........literally!!!!!!
I used to be on another thread and made a comment about a certain food. The head honcho there wrote that my comments were bs(only she spelled it out). Needless to say, I never went back there!!
Oh well, at least you had a good laugh.

Gayle,
I was reading about the little girl who had the transplant......that is so very sad. Don't you know that her mother is beside herself......In a foreign land sitting by helpless. I just pray that she isn't in any pain.

I hope everyone has had a happy day filled with friends, family, and love.

I got an e-mail today from my high school best friend. She was my maid of honor. I haven't seen her in 5 years but today there was mail from her out of the blue. I was so excited to hear from her. Friendship is the berries!!!!!!

Later all,
Ramona

I am still in suspense over what transplant went wrong. can anyone give me the scoop?

Dee I have tried the Wendy's plan but it is to rigid for me. Sorry about the people on that board. That is why it is always so pleasent here. Nobody does any bashing. I don't need the extra stress and if I am somewhere that is going on I leave.

ET reported tonight that the producers had kept Zora and "Joe" apart since the taping so nobody would find out, but it doesn't sound as if there is love in paradise.

I believe the transplant happened in North Carolina, but the girl is from Mexico. The heart-lung that she received came from Boston. It was from someone with the wrong blood type, and it wasn't caught until midway into the surgery. Because of the limited time there is to do the transplant after death is declared, her organs had already been removed prior to the arrival of the team with the new ones. The family is pleading for any available organs at this time, but I believe time is running out.

Titan Dee: How funny!!!!! That is exactly one reason I will not post anywhere else but here!!!!! Get a group of PMSing women together, one never knows what will happen!!! Hey Sher, remember that run-in you had a few years ago with a gal????

Dee: I believe the girl is 17, they transplanted the body organs only to realize that they are the wrong blood type. Her body will not accept them. I just read that she had less then 6 months to live without the operation, now they say it is a matter of hours. How very sad for everyone involved, I agree with Ramona, all we can pray for is that she is not in any pain.

Sher: Page 3 is great with me!!!! I would prefer to hunt up the next posting compared to all of our dear friends forgetting us here!

Anyone watch American Idol tonight?????? I'm going to start WW5, but I can not believe the guy (Hercules) won over some of the others.

Titan Dee-Did the Wendi Plan work for you? I tried it, but couldn't stand the rigidness of the low point days. There is also the CJ Plan. Have you looked at www.weightwatchers.com? They have lots of people on both plans. Go to the Close to Goal board. I don't post much there---just on the 25 miles challenge. Caution, though! You can't even use the word poop or they will bleep it out!! They monitor the board very closely.

Sherry-3 pages is fine!! This board is growing so much, you are doing a wonderful job as moderator. I don't know where you find all the time to do it!! Can you believe that soon we will be at #100???

Gayle-Isn't is great to hear from someone special out of the blue? That happened to me a couple of months ago, and it's amazing how much it is a mood lifter!!

Doni-Wow!! I can't believe you are going back and reading all the posts!! I can't even remember what happened in the last one!!

I personally don't get into all those shows. I can't keep up with them!! We are having such a fight about school times right now that I have been watching school board meetings and falling asleep. Right now, our times next year will be 9:30-3:30. I'll be working until 4:30. I hate it. Might as well get a regular job that pays more!!

Speaking of work, time to start thinking of having breakfast and leaving!!

Quick note. They were announcing on Good Morning America that they have found a new donor for the teenager who got the heart lung transplant with the wrong blood type. I only have basic cable in the computer room (no news networks) so no update available.

Regarding the Wendie Plan, I did okay for about 3 weeks. The last few days, I've not been tracking again but haven't done any real damage so far. I have a dental appointment for a filling tomorrow (not sure what time) but figure my eating pattern will be out of wack so plan to start back Saturday. I like the general idea of the WP, but definitely will be doing some modifications.

Sherry: I wish we were closer together so we could motivate each other. I was doing great until this week, and finally just marked it off as a "free week", and will start back Saturday or Sunday. Tomorrow I have a dental appointment for a filling and figure the last thing I need to do is try to figure out points. Either I'll be over or under.

To everyone: I haven't heard any more about the gal with the transplant. I was at a political fundraiser during the news etc. Maybe someone else has heard something.

And now I have a question: I know that several of you are going to Curves. When you have time, would you tell me what you like and/or dislike about it?

Sherry
02-20-2003, 11:55 PM
Dee (Titan Card Fan)..........

I love Curves!!! Visualize several machines in a circle, they play music (the oldies rock & roll that make you wanna shake your bootie!) After about 4-5 min., they will say ..."Change machines!" Going around the circle 3x's equals a 30 minute workout! Also In- between each machine is a "walk in place mat."

The time goes by VERY fast! It doesn't seem like you've been there 30 minutes. After you are finish, you do about 10 minutes "warm down" excercises.A chart is hanging on the wall with instructions.

Another thing that I like about it is there are women of all sizes. So when my fat butt spreads out on the seat of a machine....I don't feel ashamed.

The only thing that I don't like is: After work, I'm usually so tired and want to go straight home, take off my tight pants and put on my huge T-shirt and sweat pants! BUT after my workout...I'm so happy I went and I do feel better by going!!

If you want to know anything else, please ask! :)

This week I have been trying to work off the 2 boxes of the GIRL SCOUTS COOKIES I ate!!!!!!! :ink: :ink:

Thank you to all for the great birthday wishes and I loved my cake, Sherry!
We ended up having a fantastic day yesterday. Played hookey from work with dh. We went to a really good Mexican restaurant yesterday for lunch, The Border Grill (owned by two women who are on the Food Network), we saw "Chicago" at a matinee with a bunch of seniors (good way to feel young, hang out with people older than you), and surprised the kids by picking them up from school. We had Chinese food for dinner and then 31 Flavors mud pie for dessert!!! As I suspected, my Atkins diet books were waiting for me when I got in to the office today...perfect timing! Now I have got to figure out what I can eat (or can't eat for that matter!)

Titan Fan Dee, I loved you story about the WW board. I post on a couple of other boards that have gone through some rough spots, can be pretty entertaining at times!

See ya, Floozies, and you will be seeing less of me soon (gotta get the attitude going!)

Sherry-We are still just a 1 car family, and it is murder!! Of course, with the prices of gas right now, it is probably a good thing to be using only 1. The cheapest in town is 1.64 per gallon, and that is at Sam's. where you need a charge card in order to buy gas. The cheapest cash price is 1.66.

I too am still having problems with my eating. Although I am still jogging up a storm, I am having a terrible time at night. I just don't want to stop no matter how full I am!! I cannot gain anymore weight!! 7lbs. is my limit. I don't want to get back to the size I was. I am still able to wear all my small clothes, they are just a bit tighter. I just have no will power right now at night. Maybe I should take an appetite suppressant, but then I wouldn't be able to sleep and I don't think it would be good for my stomach.

Doni-Sorry to hear about your feet. Hope they are feeling better.

Dee-I will say a mishabera tonight for Dez.

Girls-Is it still freezing up where you live?? Our high yesterday was 88, and today it is supposed to be hotter!
